‘Super Mario Bros.’ Sets Box-Office Records
Undoubtly, the Super Mario Movie broke box office records in its opening weekend, causing optimistic investors to bid up $AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ and $Nintendo Co., Ltd.(NTDOY)$ shares.
The animated film, produced by Nintendo and Comcast’s Illumination and Universal Pictures, grossed $377 million globally over the long Easter weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. It was the biggest global debut so far this year.
Shares of AMC and Nintendo Are Rising
$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ stock was up 6.94% to $5.24 on Monday, while $Nintendo Co., Ltd.(NTDOY)$ rose 2.7% to $10.27. $Comcast(CMCSA)$ shares were up 1.43% to $38.23.

The profits from the film could provide a cushion for the firm’s outlook for the current fiscal year, but how much Nintendo actually gets will depend on the costs, how much theaters get, and how Nintendo and Comcast split revenue.
Nintendo is a Japanese video game company, but it can trade in the U.S. both on national exchanges and in the OTC market, are listed in USD.
But Nintendo's own asset value is attractive, with a long history of dividends, which are paid twice a year. With a current market cap of $45.5 billion, it also has $13 billion in cash on its books and a P/E ratio that is currently only 13 times. Together with the addition of Zelda, Nintendo would be a good long-term choice.
