between waking up on Monday morning, not realising that after all, instead of making chocolate, we should start growing bananas (thanks climate change) and the sad realisation that most people carry on their lives and shrugged when they saw the whole thing, we truly live in strange times.

I also forgot to add that just a few days ago, the parliament refused to compensate our state pension to inflation. They indexed them by 2.5% last year (the inflation was 3.2%) and promised to add another 0.5% this year. They reneged on their promise because it was “too expensive” and that the government wanted to decrease public debt (which is only 40% of our gdp).

But apparently they found the key of the vault last weekend. I mean, giving 10 francs to pensioner was unaffordable, but giving billions was easy this time. This is also why nationalisation was never considered. I heard swiss experts sitting a bit uncomfortably when people ask why it wasn’t done. “It’s not in our DNA” retorted one.

Actually, doing so would have dispelled the myth that we lacked money.
