Jabil Inc. is one of the largest companies in the Tampa Bay area. Jabil has around 100 plants in 30 countries, and 260,000 employees worldwide. The company provides manufacturing services and solutions worldwide. It operates in two segments, Electronics Manufacturing Services and Diversified Manufacturing Services.

In 1969, Jabil was formally incorporated by James Golden and William (Bill) E. Morean in Detroit.

In 1977, Morean’s son, William D. Morean, joined the enterpris and brought with him a shift in Jabil’s operations.

In 1979, Jabil established a high-volume manufacturing relationship with General Motors (GM) .

In 1981, Jabil began providing independent test engineering and development.

In 1982, Jabil initiated volume production of circuit boards using manual SMT processes.

In 1995, Some 20% of Jabil's revenues came from Internet suppliers such as Chipcom and Compression Labs.

In 1996, In spite of losing a significant share of Quantum's business, Jabil was able to remain profitable.

In 1999, Jabil had manufacturing facilities in California, Michigan, Idaho, Scotland, Italy, Mexico, and Malaysia.

In 1999, Jabil acquires GET Manufacturing Inc. of Hong Kong for $250 million; revenues exceed $2 billion.

In 2000, Jabil continued to expand its production facilities to keep up with demand.

In 2010, Jabil made strides in quality and financial performance by receiving Global ISO 9001 and ISO 140012 Certification.

In 2013, Jabil appointed William E. Peters as President and William D. Muir Jr. as Chief Operating Officers.

In 2020, 60% of companies surveyed by McKinsey & Company believe that up to half their income will come from technology-enabled innovation by 2020.
