[Company Profile]
Regency Centers Corporation is a Jacksonville, Florida-based real estate investment trust (REIT), one of the largest operators of grocery-anchored shopping centers. Its portfolio consists of more than 390 properties--either wholly owned, jointly owned, or managed--comprising 50 million square feet of space, located in metropolitan markets in 26 states.
The REIT maintains strong ties with the major supermarket chains. About 90 percent of its shopping centers are anchored by grocers ranking in the top three of their market. Regency's chairman and chief executive officer, Martin E. Stein, Jr., is the son of the couple that founded the REIT's predecessor, Regency Realty.
