@StickyRice:Google's Pichai says staff cuts avoid bigger future problems Google's $Alphabet(GOOG)$ move to join other tech companies in cutting more than 10,000 jobs was necessary to avoid bigger problems in the future, according to CEO Sundar Pichai. Google parent Alphabet said it would cut 12,000 jobs, making it the latest to trim five figures worth of employees (Microsoft, Meta and Amazon have made moves to trim at least 10,000 jobs each, to name a few). “If you don’t act clearly and decisively and early, we can compound the problem and make it much worse,” Pichai said, according to a Bloomberg report. “These are decisions I needed to make.” He said he had consulted with company founders and the board before going forward with the cuts, which amounted to about 6% of Google's workforce, Bloomberg noted.
