Fractional shares give the investor the opportunity to purchase less than one share instead of having to purchase the full share of the chosen company. 1. What's the $S&P 500(.SPX)$ ?
The Standard and Poor's 500, or the S&P 500 as it's more commonly known, is an index comprised of the top 500 (505 to be exact) listed companies in the US. The list of companies includes juggernauts such as $Apple(AAPL)$ , $Netflix(NFLX)$ , $Amazon.com(AMZN)$ , $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ , $Alphabet(GOOG)$ and $Pfizer(PFE)$ .
2. What is the trading fee for fractional shares?
If you buy less than 1 share, it is 1% of the trading value, USD 1 max; See example below.

If you buy more than 1 share, eg, 1.5 shares, the standard US stock trading fee applies.
3. Can I trade fractional shares during the pre- or post-market hours?
No, fractional shares are only allowed to trade during the US market open time. GTC order hasn't been supported yet.
4. Do fractional shares pay dividends?
Yes. You will receive cash dividends proportionate to the percentage of the share you own. For instance, if a shareholder receives a $1 dividend for each share they own and you own a half share, you'll receive $0.50, it's really that simple.
5. Can I vote when I own less than one whole share of stock?
No. You have the voting right only if you own at least a whole share.Which stocks are available for purchase through the Tiger Trade appYou can trade fractional shares that are S&P 500 constituents. If you see this icon on the detailed stock page, it means this share is available for fractional trading.6. What order types can I put when trading fractional shares?Limit orders and market orders are available for buying fractional shares. With limit orders, you need to input the price and quantity. Eg, 0.01 share for $500/share. While with market orders, you can choose between ‘Buy in shares’ or ‘Buy in dollars’.
7. What happens to my fractional shares if there is a stock split?
In the case of a stock split, if you own less than a whole share, it will be sold and you will receive cash. If you own more than a whole share, the fractional part will be sold and the whole part will split as whole shares.
8. Can I day-trade fractional shares?
Yes. Just like trading whole shares.
9. Can I use stock vouchers or commission-free cards on trading fractional shares?
Yes, with the same process of trading whole shares on Tiger Trade.
