As many as four more companies are making their stock-market debuts, bringing the total to at least six.

Coinbase, the largest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange,is slated to open for trading on Wednesday, April 14. Applovin and TuSimple are listing the next day, three people familiar with the situation said. Agilon Health ismaking its debut that Thursday.

And Alkami Technology,a bank software company, and Karat Packaging, whichmakes environmentally-friendly disposable food service products, are also reportedly going public.

This week, by way of contrast, two companies, Reneo Pharmaceuticals and VectivBio Holding, are listing. Both are small biotech companies that areslated to begin trading on the Nasdaq on Friday.

Applovin on Wednesday set terms for its initial public offering. It is offering 25 million shares at $75 to $85 each, which means it could raise as much as $2.13 billion if the stock sells at the high end of that range. The company plans to trade on the Nasdaq under the symbol APP.

Eighteen underwriters are listed in the Applovin prospectus, includingMorgan Stanley(ticker: MS),JPMorgan Chase(JPM),KKR, Bank of America‘s (BAC) BofA Securities, andCitigroup(C).

Founded in 2012, Applovin provides software used by mobile-game developers to grow their businesses. Some 410 million people a day open apps that contain Applovin software, according to the company. Applovin also has a portfolio of more than 200 free-to-play mobile games with 32 million daily users.

In 2018, KKRbought a minority stakein Applovin for $400 million, valuing Applovin at $2 billion at the time. Applovin in February acquired Adjust, a firm that helps mobile-app developers measure the performance of apps and prevent fraud, for $1 billion. KKR will own 67.4% of the company after the IPO, theprospectus said.

With 357,955,309 shares outstanding, Applovin’s market capitalization could hit $30 billion.

TuSimple also set terms for its IPO. The self-driving technology company could raise as much as $1.3 billion; it is offering nearly 34 million shares at $35 to $39 each. It will trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker TSP.

Morgan Stanley(MS),Citigroup, and J.P. Morgan (JPM) are lead bookrunners on the deal.

Founded in 2015, TuSimple is looking to transform the $800 billion trucking industry. The San Diego company, which has plants in Tucson, Shanghai, and Beijing, in addition to operations in Japan, is developing an autonomous freight network for long-haul, semi-trucks that it says will increase efficiency and safety on the road, while cutting operating costs.

TuSimple develops software for the Level 4 self-driving, long-haul trucks, which can see up to 1,000 meters away, equivalent to 30 seconds of driving time. High-definition maps provide accuracy within five centimeters.

The company is partnering withNavistar(NAV) to develop trucks for the North American market by 2024,its prospectus said. TuSimple has another partnership withVolkswagensubsidiary TRATON for trucks in Europe. Navistar, TRATON, and United Parcel Service (UPS) are all investors.

TuSimple has raised $800 million in funding, including a $350 million round in November led by VectoIQ.BlackRock(BR), Fidelity Management & Research Co and Capital Group are in talks to buy up to 10.1 million TuSimple shares at the IPO price, the prospectus said.

The company will have 212,263,328 shares outstanding, meaning TuSimple’s market cap could climb to $8.3 billion. But around the consensus price target of $150 per share, estimates vary widely: from $83 at the bearish end to $175 at the bullish end of the spectrum.
\n
What might justify Apple stock rising nearly 40% to reach the most optimistic of price targets? On the flip side, what are the key risks to Apple stock tanking about 30% towards the bottom of the well? These are questions that the Apple Maven will explore today.
\n
iPhone super cycle
\n
The Wall Street bulls in question are two: Wedbush’s Dan Ives and Evercore ISI’s Amit Daryanani. Although both see the same upside to investing in Apple shares today, the analysts approach the bullish case from different angles.
\n
Wedbushplacesthe iPhone at the center of the investment thesis. The analyst believes fervently in the 5G super cycle, arguing that just about 40% of Apple’s smartphone installed base is currently overdue for an upgrade. Greater China,a struggling geographic segmentfor the past five years, represents a sizable rebounding opportunity.
\n
The research shop offers numbers to support the argument. Dan Ives sees Apple shipping as many as 250 million iPhone units in the current year, which is roughly 15% more than consensus. Holding all other variables constant, including average prices and margins, I estimate that 2021 iPhone sales at these levels could account for up to one-fourth of the stock price upside.
\n
Wedbush looks beyond the current year, andsees in the upcoming iPhone 13an important follow up to the “5G party”. Demand for the new device should be boosted by product features, including a 1 terabyte storage model, and the buildout of 5G networks across the globe.
\n
Apple Car, services and wearables opportunities
\n
Wedbush’s Dan Ives shares at least one thing in common with Evercore ISI’s Amit Daryanani: a belief that the long-awaited Apple Car could be a catalyst for further stock price appreciation.
\n
Dan offers some figures to explain his bullishness. According to him, the EV (electric vehicle) market could reach $5 trillion over the next decade. Should Apple announce a production partner by the summer, as Wedbush believes will be the case, the Cupertino company could begin to capitalize on the opportunity soon.
\n
Amit, on the other hand, dives deeper into another couple of high-growth businesses for Apple: services and wearables. The analyst sees“a clear path to $100 billion in services revenue by fiscal 2025 and $70 billion for wearables. The growth should help drive margin expansion and help smooth out the cyclical nature of the hardware business”.
\n
Should these two segments expand as Evercore ISI believes they will, both combined would more than double in size in five years, with margin expansion potential. It is not a stretch to see Apple stock rising 40% in 12 months if the rest of the market begins to see these growth opportunities the same way.
\n
This ship is going down!
\n
Despite plenty of Wall Street love, Apple stock also has its bears. None is more pessimistic about investing in the Cupertino company’s shares than Goldman Sachs’ Rod Hall, whobelieves that the stock has over 30% downside risk.
\n
At the core of the analyst’s bearish thesis is the services segment. Rod argues that a post-pandemic world could be highly disruptive to service revenues, as consumers choose offscreen entertainment after nearly 18 months of being confined at home.
\n
Still within services, Goldman believes that Apple TV+ could see users flock as the one-year free trial period ends, in July 2021. This would be a blow to a company that is still trying to become a more relevant player in the ultra-competitive streaming video space.
\n
Lastly, the analyst believes that the iPhone 12 resembles a “redesign cycle” rather than a more meaningful “5G super cycle”. As a result, iPhone replacement rates should be low in 2021, and average selling prices could drop as well.
\n
Twitter speaks
\n
Not long ago, I asked users on Twitter if they wereconcerned about the downside risk in Apple stock. Now, I turn the question around: what key driver could send shares towards the $175 bullish price target? Below are the answers.
\n

","source":"lsy1610613172068","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Apple Stock At $175 or $83? But the risk that we take can be assessed and compared more or less objectively. And it is in this context that I propose to compare Alibaba (BABA) and Amazon (AMZN).
\n
In my calculation, I used the monthly total price return since October 2014 - the day BABA started trading.
\n
Let's start with basic parameters.
\n
The first thing that catches your eye is that Amazon's distribution of returns is close to the normal distribution. This attests to the stability and predictability of results:
\n
Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com
\n
As for Alibaba's shares, the histogram of its returns is not so close to the normal distribution:
\n
Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com
\n
Further. Amazon's arithmetic mean monthly return is almost double that of Alibaba. However, Amazon showsless risk: its value of standard deviation is lower:
\n
Source: Author
\n
Amazon's semi-deviation (a measure of the fluctuation in returns below the mean) is also lower. At that, the coefficient of variation of AMZN's return is lower than that of BABA. This means that for each percent of Amazon's average return, there is less risk than for that of Alibaba. In other words, Amazon's higher average return comes with relatively low risk. The perfect combination!
\n
Source: Author
\n
Let's take a look at deeper parameters. Median and arithmetic mean of monthly returns of Amazon are very close to each other, which indicates the symmetry of the distribution of returns. In addition, Amazon's distribution of returns demonstrates positive skewness and excess kurtosis equal to 4.04. This means that, firstly, Amazon's returns tend to deviate toward the positive side relative to the average values and, secondly, in comparison with a normal distribution (excess kurtosis of the normal distribution equals 3),the actual distribution of AMZN's returns is more concentrated around the average value.
\n
Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com
\n
If you are confused, these graphs allow you to clearly understand the essence of these parameters:
\n
Source: justusjp.medium.com
\n
Now let's take a look at Alibaba:
\n
Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com
\n
Here is a similar situation, but it loses to Amazon. Median and arithmetic mean are close to each other. The positive skewness also is present, and excess kurtosis is 3.37.But both are lower than those of Amazon.
\n
Now let's take a look at the history of companies' annual total price returns. In Amazon's case, we have a lower standard deviation limit above zero:
\n
Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com
\n
In the case of Alibaba, the situation is worse. Here, the lower standard deviation is negative:
\n
Source: VisualizedAnalytics.com
\n
As you can see, historically, investing in Amazon has provided higher return at lower risk.
\n
Bottom Line
\n
Amazon and Alibaba have a lot in common. Both companies are far from their quantitative and qualitative growth limits. At the same time, both companies have their own risks. In the case of Alibaba, it's a sovereign risk. In the case of Amazon, these are risks associated with its size and market share. And at the moment, these risks are difficult to compare.
\n
I understand that the analysis performed is based on historical data. And the future won't necessarily be the same. But at the same time, one cannot deny the presence of inertia both in physics and in the field of human psychology, which determines the behavior of financial markets. But the risk that we take can be assessed and compared more or less objectively.\nAmazon's higher average return comes with relatively low risk.\nStatistical assessment of the risk parameters speaks in favor of Amazon.\n\nPhoto by picture/iStock via Getty Images\nWhen it comes to investment, we very often focus on assessing the potential return, which is largely beyond our control. But the risk that we take can be assessed and compared more or less objectively. And it is in this context that I propose to compare Alibaba (BABA) and Amazon (AMZN).\nIn my calculation, I used the monthly total price return since October 2014 - the day BABA started trading.\nLet's start with basic parameters.\nThe first thing that catches your eye is that Amazon's distribution of returns is close to the normal distribution. This attests to the stability and predictability of results:\nSource: VisualizedAnalytics.com\nAs for Alibaba's shares, the histogram of its returns is not so close to the normal distribution:\nSource: VisualizedAnalytics.com\nFurther. Amazon's arithmetic mean monthly return is almost double that of Alibaba. However, Amazon showsless risk: its value of standard deviation is lower:\nSource: Author\nAmazon's semi-deviation (a measure of the fluctuation in returns below the mean) is also lower. At that, the coefficient of variation of AMZN's return is lower than that of BABA. This means that for each percent of Amazon's average return, there is less risk than for that of Alibaba. In other words, Amazon's higher average return comes with relatively low risk. The perfect combination!\nSource: Author\nLet's take a look at deeper parameters. Median and arithmetic mean of monthly returns of Amazon are very close to each other, which indicates the symmetry of the distribution of returns. In addition, Amazon's distribution of returns demonstrates positive skewness and excess kurtosis equal to 4.04. This means that, firstly, Amazon's returns tend to deviate toward the positive side relative to the average values and, secondly, in comparison with a normal distribution (excess kurtosis of the normal distribution equals 3),the actual distribution of AMZN's returns is more concentrated around the average value.\nSource: VisualizedAnalytics.com\nIf you are confused, these graphs allow you to clearly understand the essence of these parameters:\nSource: justusjp.medium.com\nNow let's take a look at Alibaba:\nSource: VisualizedAnalytics.com\nHere is a similar situation, but it loses to Amazon. Median and arithmetic mean are close to each other. The positive skewness also is present, and excess kurtosis is 3.37.But both are lower than those of Amazon.\nNow let's take a look at the history of companies' annual total price returns. In Amazon's case, we have a lower standard deviation limit above zero:\nSource: VisualizedAnalytics.com\nIn the case of Alibaba, the situation is worse. Here, the lower standard deviation is negative:\nSource: VisualizedAnalytics.com\nAs you can see, historically, investing in Amazon has provided higher return at lower risk.\nBottom Line\nAmazon and Alibaba have a lot in common. Both companies are far from their quantitative and qualitative growth limits. At the same time, both companies have their own risks. In the case of Alibaba, it's a sovereign risk. In the case of Amazon, these are risks associated with its size and market share. And at the moment, these risks are difficult to compare.\nI understand that the analysis performed is based on historical data. And the future won't necessarily be the same. But at the same time, one cannot deny the presence of inertia both in physics and in the field of human psychology, which determines the behavior of financial markets. Therefore, it is highly probable that a similar analysis will show approximately the same results in a decade. Therefore, at the moment, I am of the opinion that investing in Amazon is less risky compared to Alibaba Group.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":218,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":249958833877208,"gmtCreate":1702044161414,"gmtModify":1702044165692,"author":{"id":"3552885056817828","authorId":"3552885056817828","name":"Jerome54","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/825ef4837c48c2b23ec8141a914b88e4","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3552885056817828","authorIdStr":"3552885056817828"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Invest purely in AAPL","listText":"Invest purely in AAPL","text":"Invest purely in AAPL","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/249958833877208","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":425,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":217849143656480,"gmtCreate":1694220751769,"gmtModify":1694220757380,"author":{"id":"3552885056817828","authorId":"3552885056817828","name":"Jerome54","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/825ef4837c48c2b23ec8141a914b88e4","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3552885056817828","authorIdStr":"3552885056817828"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy AAPL for long term?
