economic recovery fueling a risk-on rally.
\n
All three major U.S. stock indexes added to their previous session's advance, placing all three within 1% of their all-time closing highs.
\n
Economically sensitive smallcaps , semiconductors and financials outperformed the broader market.
\n
\"It’s a seesaw going on between great earnings and a recovering market and concerns over whether the economy is going to slow down because of the (COVID-19) Delta variant,\" said Peter Tuz, president of Chase Investment Counsel in Charlottesville, Virginia. \"But we’re seeing strong earnings with generally positive guidance, and the feeling that (the Delta variant) can be managed.\"
\n
A rebound in travel helped fuel United Airlines' revenue beat, boosting its stock by 3.8%.
\n
The S&P 1500 Airlines index gained 3.3%, while the S&P 1500 Hotels, Restaurant and Leisure index advanced 2.9%.
\n
\"Earlier in the week those stocks suffered because of renewed fears that travel will slow down and all related industries will suffer, but those fears have gone away,\" Tuz added. \"Demand is continuing as expected, I don’t think the Delta fear is Buffett Foundation and NoVo Foundation. Back then, Buffett owned 474,998 Berkshire A shares. Today, he said he owns 238,624 shares, worth about $100 billion.\n“Today is a milestone for me,” Buffett said in a statement. “In 2006, I pledged to distribute all of my Berkshire Hathaway shares — more than 99% of my net worth — to philanthropy. With today’s $4.1 billion distribution, I’m halfway there.”\nBuffett’s resignation as Gates Foundation trustee comes as the charitable organization faces a tumultuous time with the divorce of its two founders.\n“For years I have been a trustee — an inactive trustee at that — of only one recipient of my funds, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMG). I am now resigning from that post, just as I have done at all corporate boards other than Berkshire’s,” Buffett said. “The CEO of BMG is Mark Suzman, an outstanding recent selection who has my full support. My goals are 100% in sync with those of the foundation, and my physical participation is in no way needed to achieve these goals.”\nBill Gates, co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft, and his wife, Melinda French Gates, announced their divorce in May.The couple along with Buffett were creators of the Giving Pledge, a program that requires participants to give away more than half of their wealth.\nBuffett said his 16 annual contributions to the five foundations over the years were worth $41 billion when disbursed. Buffett is Berkshire’s largest shareholder, owning about 39% of the Class A shares, according to FactSet.\nBerkshire A shares have rebounded more than 20% to hit a record high in 2021 as many of the conglomerate’s business recovered better than expected from the pandemic hit.\n“I’m optimistic. Though naysayers abound — as they have throughout my life — America’s best days most certainly lie ahead,” Buffett said. “Philanthropy will continue to pair human talent with financial resources. So, too, will business and government. Each force has its particular strengths and weaknesses. Combined, they will make the world a better place — a much better place — for future generations.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":22,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":808700085,"gmtCreate":1627608502847,"gmtModify":1703493250524,"author":{"id":"3558908973070437","authorId":"3558908973070437","name":"我想靠炒股赚钱","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3307df73340febafbb3375bf63f1a33c","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3558908973070437","idStr":"3558908973070437"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Adding more for dividend ","listText":"Adding more for dividend ","text":"Adding more for dividend","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7be2c89808e91f7076e4cae4952bbdbe","width":"1125","height":"2774"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/808700085","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":169,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":141225748,"gmtCreate":1625876406484,"gmtModify":1703750185205,"author":{"id":"3558908973070437","authorId":"3558908973070437","name":"我想靠炒股赚钱","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3307df73340febafbb3375bf63f1a33c","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3558908973070437","idStr":"3558908973070437"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$JD.com(JD)$Looking up","listText":"$JD.com(JD)$Looking up","text":"$JD.com(JD)$Looking up","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/110c672a1a6215ffe539979629920bb7","width":"1170","height":"2260"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/141225748","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":148,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":140981044,"gmtCreate":1625623577788,"gmtModify":1703745123879,"author":{"id":"3558908973070437","authorId":"3558908973070437","name":"我想靠炒股赚钱","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3307df73340febafbb3375bf63f1a33c","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3558908973070437","idStr":"3558908973070437"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like please ","listText":"Like please ","text":"Like please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/140981044","repostId":"1171645479","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1171645479","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1625619855,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1171645479?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-07 09:04","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"Chinese EV Maker Xpeng surged 1.8% on its first day of trading in Hong Kong","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1171645479","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"HONG KONG/BEIJING, July 7 - Chinese EV Maker Xpeng surged 1.8% on its Hong Kong debut on Wednesday a","content":"
HONG KONG/BEIJING, July 7 - Chinese EV Maker Xpeng surged 1.8% on its Hong Kong debut on Wednesday after an initial public offering.Xpeng issued 85 million Class A ordinary shares at a price of 165 Hong Kong dollars each. Those shares opened at 168 Hong Kong dollars, a 1.8% rise.
\n
The Guangzhou-based company sold 85 million shares which equates to 5% of its stock, according to its prospectus. There is an over-allotment option to sell a further 12.75 million shares that would raise an extra $270 million.
\n
Led by Chief Executive He Xiaopeng, Xpeng will use the funds to develop more advanced smart car technologies, such as autonomous driving functions, with its in-house team of engineers, and will expand its product portfolio. It already has plans for two new car plants in China.
\n
It sells mainly in China, the world's biggest car market, where it competes with Tesla Inc(TSLA.O)and Nio Inc(NIO.N).
\n
The electric carmaker is already listed in the U.S. Usually, Chinese companies listed on Wall Street will do what's known as a secondary listing, usually in Hong Kong. This is where a company, listed on one exchange, goes on to sell shares on another.
\n
Xpeng chose a dual primary listing rather than a secondary listing as it has been listed in New York for less than two years. Under Hong Kong rules, a secondary listing requires at least two financial years of good regulatory compliance on another qualifying exchange.
\n
The dual primary listing allows qualified Chinese investors to take part through the Stock Connect regime linking mainland Chinese and Hong Kong markets, according to the exchange's rules.
\n
After the rally in 2020, electric car-makers have seen their shares decline this year amid increasing competition from legacy automakers, the global semiconductor shortage and general wariness among investors about holding ontoriskier assets.
\n
The Hong Kong share sale will add to Xpeng’s war chest as it competes with an array of upstarts in China, the world’s largest market for electric vehicles.
