Images

As crude oil and natural gas prices soar, the changing risk-reward profiles necessitates a shift of portfolio composition towards high margin producers, because high margins mean not only richer cash flow from operations but also lower breakeven and stronger downside protection. The challenge, however, is to find high-margin producers that are under-followed and can still be bought at an adequate margin of safety.

Magnolia Oil & Gas (NYSE:MGY), which I discussed in a recent article titled 'Magnolia Oil & Gas: Invest For Its High Margins, Bulletproof Balance Sheet', is the epitome of high margins and squeaky clean balance sheet.

Pipestone Energy (PIPE.TSX)(OTCPK:BKBEF), a participant in the Montney resource play up north, which I highlighted in a recent article entitled 'Screening Energy Stocks From The Montney Resource Play, Canada', is another great example.

The mini-crash of oil and gas prices since mid-June has triggered a 30% pullback in Magnolia and 40% correction in Pipestone. In light of this selloff, let's look at these two stocks again.

Magnolia Oil & Gas

High margins

In the 1Q2022, Magnolia production averaged 31,289 bbls/d, 137,532 Mcf/d and 17,624 bbls/d. It realized US$58.44/boe on the total production of 71,835 boe/d, thanks to its acreage being located close to infrastructure and downstream market in the Gulf Coast.

Since 2018, on average the company was able to sell crude oil at ~100% of WTI and natural gas at ~93% of Henry Hub.

Magnolia has no plan to hedge as a result of its extremely low debt, with long-term debt at $400 million and cash as of March 31 at $346 million.

Adding the proved developed reserve F&D cost averaging US$8.73/boe in the past three years and operating expenses as shown in Fig. 1, Magnolia's full-cycle cash cost came to ~US$20/boe.

<picture> </picture>

Fig. 1. Cash operating expenses of Magnolia Oil & Gas, shown with non-cash stock based compensation, all per boe of production. LOE, lease operating expenses; GT&P, gathering, transportation & processing; G&A, general & administrative expense (Laurentian Research based on data from Seeking Alpha and Magnolia Oil & Gas)

Between superior price realization and low cash cost, Magnolia emerges as one of the highest-margin producers in the U.S. Its full-cycle cash netback was as high as US$38.64/boe in the 1Q2022.

Decent growth

From 1Q2018 to 1Q2022, Magnolia was able to grow production at a CAGR of 11.5% despite the unprecedented interruption by the pandemic (Fig. 2).

<picture> </picture>

Fig. 2. Daily average production of Magnolia (Laurentian Research based on data gathered from Seeking Alpha and Magnolia Oil & Gas)

Magnolia limits its capital spending on well drilling and completion (or D&C) to 55% of annual Adjusted EBITDAX, which came to $298 million in the 1Q2022. It expects to deliver >10% organic production growth in 2022.

Integrating its realized price, all-in cash margins and growth, Magnolia generates US$42.50 profit for every boe of production.

Upside

I recently estimated Magnolia had an intrinsic value of US$25 per share, based on its dividend and share buyback policy under US$55/bo WTI and US$2.75/Mcf Henry Hub.

However, should the oil and gas prices sustain at the 1Q2022 level, Magnolia is worth a per-share intrinsic value of US$47-56.

As of June 24, 2022, Magnolia changed hands at US$21.21 per share, implying an upside of >120%.

Magnolia is valued at an EV/EBITDA multiple of 3.2X and a P/FCF multiple of 5.90X, low relative to what peers grab, suggesting the stock is still under-followed.

Pipestone Energy

High margins

Pipestone Energy averaged 33 bo/d, 7,963 bc/d, 94,346 Mcf/d and 3,861 bbl/d of non-condensate NGLs in the 1Q2022. It realized C$61.85/boe on the total production of 27,581 boe/d, thanks to condensate and crude oil accounting for 28.99% of the production mix.

The percentage of crude oil and especially condensate in total production is the main determinant of the price realized by Montney operators. Condensate even captures a premium over crude oil because there exists a strong demand for it from the Canadian oil sands producers, such as Suncor Energy (SU).

Pipestone was able to find and develop proved developed reserves at a F&D cost of C$10.37/boe. Its all-in cash costs came to C$22.05/boe in the 1Q2022. Going forward, Pipestone is expected to reduce unit cash cost substantially through production growth-driven economies of scale.

Between advantageous price realization and low F&D cost and operating costs, Pipestone is one of the highest-margin producers in the Montney play. Its full-cycle cash netback was as high as C$29.43/boe in the 1Q2022.

Rapid growth

Pipestone has an ambitious growth plan for the next three years (Fig. 3). It is poised to ramp up CapEx to C$225-C$235 million, grow production to 31,000-33,000 boe/d, up 30% year-over-year in 2022. By 2024, production is expected to reach 46,000-48,000 boe/d (Fig. 4).

<picture> </picture>

Fig. 3. The 2022-2024 corporate plan of Pipestone Energy (Pipestone Energy presentation)

<picture> </picture>

Fig. 4. Pipestone Energy production growth trajectory, actual and forecast (Pipestone Energy presentation)

Integrating its realized price, all-in cash margins and growth, Pipestone generates C$38.26 (or US$29.68) profit for every boe of production.

Upside

According to Seeking Alpha data, Pipestone Energy has a forward EV/EBITDA multiple of 2.68X, as compared with industry average of 5.84X. That Pipestone is deeply undervalued can also be seen from its P/FCF multiple of 4.42X for 2022 and its being valued at 62% of proven reserve NAV or 38% of proven and probable reserve NAV.

Pipestone only has C$204 million of net debt as of the end of 1Q2022, while it is projected to pull in free cash flow of C$155-C$185 million in 2022, C$260 million in 2023, and C$245 million in 2024 (Fig. 3).

Have energy prices peaked?

“Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful.” - Warren Buffett

The greatest risk of going long these two stocks lies in that the oil and gas prices may continue to drop. Have oil and gas prices peaked and are we on the brink of yet another lengthy bear market?

I'll let the eloquent Arjun Murti answer the question:

I disagree that we are closer to a long-term peak than a trough, however, when (1) reinvestment rates and capital spending are near trough levels, (2) there is limited spare capacity anywhere in the world, (3) a Top 3 oil and gas producer (Russia) is turning into a pariah state, and (4) current western world politicians and policy makers remain stuck in apocalyptic, Malthusian “climate only” ideology.

He went on to point out the danger of calling a top prematurely:

In the 2000s super-cycle, when oil first traded above $30/bbl after a period between $15-$22/bbl (nominal) in the 1990s, just about everyone prematurely called peak; history appears to be repeating, or at least rhyming.

The severe selloff of energy equity since mid-June seems to result from investor concerns over a potential recession. It is a panic-induced pullback despite no fundamental changes to the energy landscape. Warren Buffett clearly agrees with that characterization of the oil market condition, because Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) just picked up an additional 9.55 million shares of Occidental Petroleum (OXY) from skittish investors, boosting its stake to 16.3%.

Therefore, it seems to be an opportune time to buy energy stocks, particularly high-quality yet undervalued names like Magnolia and Pipestone.

Investor takeaways

In spite of volatility, the energy industry condition and commodity supply-demand fundamentals are still characteristic of the early phase of a multi-year bull market.

Investors may take advantage of the recent selloff to load up on high-margin producers Magnolia Oil & Gas and Pipestone Energy, two under-followed North American producers boasting high margins and strong growth outlook.

","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The challenge, however, is to find high-margin producers that are under-followed and can still be bought at an adequate margin of safety. Magnolia Oil & Gas High margins In the 1Q2022, Magnolia production averaged 31,289 bbls/d, 137,532 Mcf/d and 17,624 bbls/d. Fig. 1. Cash operating expenses of Magnolia Oil & Gas, shown with non-cash stock based compensation, all per boe of production. LOE, lease operating expenses; GT&P, gathering, transportation & processing; G&A, general & administrative expense (Laurentian Research based on data from Seeking Alpha and Magnolia Oil & Gas)Between superior price realization and low cash cost, Magnolia emerges as one of the highest-margin producers in the U.S. Its full-cycle cash netback was as high as US$38.64/boe in the 1Q2022. Decent growth From 1Q2018 to 1Q2022, Magnolia was able to grow production at a CAGR of 11.5% despite the unprecedented interruption by the pandemic (Fig. 2). Fig. 2. Daily average production of Magnolia (Laurentian Research based on data gathered from Seeking Alpha and Magnolia Oil & Gas)Magnolia limits its capital spending on well drilling and completion (or D&C) to 55% of annual Adjusted EBITDAX, which came to $298 million in the 1Q2022. It expects to deliver >10% organic production growth in 2022. Integrating its realized price, all-in cash margins and growth, Magnolia generates US$42.50 profit for every boe of production. Upside I recently estimated Magnolia had an intrinsic value of US$25 per share, based on its dividend and share buyback policy under US$55/bo WTI and US$2.75/Mcf Henry Hub. Pipestone Energy High margins Pipestone Energy averaged 33 bo/d, 7,963 bc/d, 94,346 Mcf/d and 3,861 bbl/d of non-condensate NGLs in the 1Q2022. Rapid growth Pipestone has an ambitious growth plan for the next three years (Fig. 3). It is poised to ramp up CapEx to C$225-C$235 million, grow production to 31,000-33,000 boe/d, up 30% year-over-year in 2022. By 2024, production is expected to reach 46,000-48,000 boe/d (Fig. 4). Fig. 3. The 2022-2024 corporate plan of Pipestone Energy (Pipestone Energy presentation) Fig. 4. Pipestone Energy production growth trajectory, actual and forecast (Pipestone Energy presentation)Integrating its realized price, all-in cash margins and growth, Pipestone generates C$38.26 (or US$29.68) profit for every boe of production. Upside According to Seeking Alpha data, Pipestone Energy has a forward EV/EBITDA multiple of 2.68X, as compared with industry average of 5.84X. “Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful.” - Warren Buffett The greatest risk of going long these two stocks lies in that the oil and gas prices may continue to drop. Have oil and gas prices peaked and are we on the brink of yet another lengthy bear market? I'll let the eloquent Arjun Murti answer the question: I disagree that we are closer to a long-term peak than a trough, however, when (1) reinvestment rates and capital spending are near trough levels, (2) there is limited spare capacity anywhere in the world, (3) a Top 3 oil and gas producer (Russia) is turning into a pariah state, and (4) current western world politicians and policy makers remain stuck in apocalyptic, Malthusian “climate only” ideology. He went on to point out the danger of calling a top prematurely: In the 2000s super-cycle, when oil first traded above $30/bbl after a period between $15-$22/bbl (nominal) in the 1990s, just about everyone prematurely called peak; history appears to be repeating, or at least rhyming. Investor takeaways In spite of volatility, the energy industry condition and commodity supply-demand fundamentals are still characteristic of the early phase of a multi-year bull market. Investors may take advantage of the recent selloff to load up on high-margin producers Magnolia Oil & Gas and Pipestone Energy, two under-followed North American producers boasting high margins and strong growth outlook.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":331,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9042350567,"gmtCreate":1656440867759,"gmtModify":1676535828171,"author":{"id":"3560348984799159","authorId":"3560348984799159","name":"MoneyT","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560348984799159","authorIdStr":"3560348984799159"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9042350567","repostId":"2246082023","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2246082023","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1656460785,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2246082023?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-29 07:59","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nio Plays \"Accounting Games to Inflate Revenue\" Says Grizzly Research","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2246082023","media":"StreetInsider","summary":"Short-seller Grizzly Research released a negative research report on Chinese electric vehicle maker ","content":"

Short-seller Grizzly Research released a negative research report on Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio (NYSE: NIO) Tuesday.

In the report, Grizzly states they believe Nio "plays valeant-esque accounting games to inflate revenue and boost net income margins to meet targets."

Despite their significant fall from all-time highs during the Covid pandemic, Nio shares are still up considerably from pre-pandemic levels, making it one of China's most valuable electric vehicle companies.

"Allow us to introduce you to Wuhan Weineng ("Weineng"), the convenient difference-maker helping NIO exceed lofty growth and profitability estimates on The Street. This Stock Is Down 77% in 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2195485524","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"This company thrived during the pandemic, but economic reopening has reversed the benefits.","content":"

Investors looking for bargains can often find them in the stock market. Poor performance, negative perception, and the fear of losing money can all cause stocks to sell off and trade at lower-than-usual prices.

Peloton (NASDAQ:PTON) is one of those stocks that have sold off considerably in 2021. Indeed, the stock is down 77% this year. Let's look at what has caused it to fall so hard and whether it's a good value for bargain-shopping investors.

Peloton management overcorrected

The clearest reason Peloton's stock fell so much is the worldwide economic reopening. Peloton's products were in high demand when economies were in various phases of lockdowns and nonessential businesses, including gyms, were forced to close their doors to the public. That limited the ways folks could exercise, and they turned to Peloton in large numbers.

The surge in demand was so pronounced that Peloton had difficulty fulfilling orders. At one point, customers had to wait more than ten weeks to receive their exercise equipment. In response, management made investments to increase manufacturing capacity and reduce delivery times.

Unfortunately for Peloton, several effective vaccines against COVID-19 were developed, economies started reopening, and demand for in-home exercise equipment decreased. Meanwhile, Peloton is stuck with a higher expense base because of its investments to increase capacity. In its most recent quarter ended Sept. 30, Peloton reported a net loss of $367 million compared to a net profit of $69.3 million at the same time last year.

To make matters worse, Peloton had decreased the price of its bike from $1,895 to $1,495. The move did create increased purchasing from price-sensitive consumers but not enough to offset the considerable price decrease. As a result, revenue in the connected-fitness-products segment (which includes bike sales) fell from $601 million in the third quarter of 2020 to $501 million in Q3 2021. Meanwhile, supply-chain disruptions are raising input and transportation costs; the cost to fulfill sales increased by 21.1% year over year in Q3.

One potential, near-term bright spot for Peloton is the $1.27 billion of inventory it had on hand ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season -- up from $937 million in the prior quarter. The quarter ending in December typically is the most lucrative for Peloton, coinciding with not only holiday gift-giving but also new year resolution-induced purchasing. So management is hopeful for strong sales this quarter.

Peloton's stock is a relative bargain

Peloton's stock has undoubtedly faced a steep price decline in 2021 -- and for clear reasons. Customer demand leveled off as economies reopened; meanwhile, management was making investments to increase capacity. All of this has shaken investor confidence. Poor performance, negative perception, and the fear of losing money can all cause stocks to sell off and trade at lower-than-usual prices.Peloton (NASDAQ:PTON) is one of those stocks that have sold off considerably in 2021. Indeed, the stock is down 77% this year. Let's look at what has caused it to fall so hard and whether it's a good value for bargain-shopping investors.Image source: Getty Images.Peloton management overcorrectedThe clearest reason Peloton's stock fell so much is the worldwide economic reopening. In response, management made investments to increase manufacturing capacity and reduce delivery times.Unfortunately for Peloton, several effective vaccines against COVID-19 were developed, economies started reopening, and demand for in-home exercise equipment decreased. Meanwhile, Peloton is stuck with a higher expense base because of its investments to increase capacity. In its most recent quarter ended Sept. 30, Peloton reported a net loss of $367 million compared to a net profit of $69.3 million at the same time last year.To make matters worse, Peloton had decreased the price of its bike from $1,895 to $1,495. The move did create increased purchasing from price-sensitive consumers but not enough to offset the considerable price decrease. As a result, revenue in the connected-fitness-products segment (which includes bike sales) fell from $601 million in the third quarter of 2020 to $501 million in Q3 2021. Meanwhile, supply-chain disruptions are raising input and transportation costs; the cost to fulfill sales increased by 21.1% year over year in Q3.One potential, near-term bright spot for Peloton is the $1.27 billion of inventory it had on hand ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season -- up from $937 million in the prior quarter. The quarter ending in December typically is the most lucrative for Peloton, coinciding with not only holiday gift-giving but also new year resolution-induced purchasing. So management is hopeful for strong sales this quarter.Peloton's stock is a relative bargainPeloton's stock has undoubtedly faced a steep price decline in 2021 -- and for clear reasons. Customer demand leveled off as economies reopened; meanwhile, management was making investments to increase capacity. All of this has shaken investor confidence. At one point in the last two years, Peloton's stock was selling at a price-to-sales ratio over 20. As of this writing, it's down to 2.7.Yet Peloton's stock price crash could now be a bargain for long-term investors who can tolerate any further volatility the company could go through in the short term as it adjusts to changing consumer behavior.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":240,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":325533280,"gmtCreate":1615905421240,"gmtModify":1704788303729,"author":{"id":"3560348984799159","authorId":"3560348984799159","name":"MoneyT","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560348984799159","authorIdStr":"3560348984799159"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/325533280","repostId":"1122286945","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1122286945","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1615902195,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1122286945?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-16 21:43","market":"us","language":"en","title":"GameStop stock drops nearly 15%, after tumbling 16.8% on Monday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1122286945","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(March 16) GameStop stock drops nearly 15%, after tumbling 16.8% on Monday. The company had filed its S-1 Registration Statement back in November, and it showed phenomenal growth driven in part by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced many people to stay home and bolstered demand for home entertainment options.
\n
Roblox is comparable to Minecraft, which Microsoft acquired in 2014, in that it is a broad gaming platform that fosters creativity and caters overwhelmingly to young children. After the exchange set a reference price of $45, which is specific to direct listings and mostly serves as historical context to investors as opposed to the offering price in an IPO, the stock promptly sprinted out of the gate. Could Roblox be a top performer in 2021?
\n
\n
Surging engagement during COVID-19
\n
Roblox's prospectus now includes financial information for the fourth quarter and full-year 2020. As one might expect, the business continued to enjoy strong growth to close out the year. There are three core operating metrics for investors to watch: daily active users (DAUs), hours engaged, and average bookings per DAU (ABPDAU).
\n
\n
\n
\n

Metric

\n

2018

\n

2019

\n

2020

\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

DAUs

\n

12 million

\n

17.62 million

\n

32.59 million

\n
\n
\n

Hours engaged

\n

9.43 billion

\n

13.65 billion

\n

30.6 billion

\n
\n
\n

ABPDAU

\n

$41.53

\n

$39.40

\n

$57.77

\n
\n
\n
\n
Data source: Prospectus.
\n
Hours engaged dipped slightly in the fourth quarter on a sequential basis, from 8.7 billion to 8.4 billion, but ABPDAU ticked higher to a record $17.30. Roblox notes that monetization tends to be very seasonal, with more users typically buying digital currency (Robux) and virtual goods over the holiday season.
\n
In terms of financial results, revenue soared by 82% last year to $923.9 million, while bookings surged 171% to $1.9 billion in 2020. However, Roblox's operating loss roughly doubled to $1.2 billion. The company is investing heavily in research and development as it hires employees and develops new features and functionalities for the platform to drive future growth. Stock-based compensation has also skyrocketed due to aggressive hiring activity -- Roblox hired over 360 full-time employees last year to finish 2020 with 960, with nearly 80% of all workers being engineers and product developers.
\n
Additionally, Roblox received another bullish vote of confidence from ARK Invest, led by widely followed institutional investor Cathie Wood. ARK has a unique practice of sending out daily emails that disclose what its actively managed ETFs are trading. In this case, ARK Next Generation Internet (NYSEMKT:ARKW) scooped up approximately 520,000 shares on the first day of trading. The notifications do not detail what prices were paid, but the position represented 0.47% of the portfolio.
\n
\n
How will Roblox fare in a post-pandemic world?
\n
Like other companies that became inadvertent beneficiaries of the pandemic, the lingering question that Roblox faces is what happens to engagement as the world slowly returns to normal. The company had filed its S-1 Registration Statement back in November, and it showed phenomenal growth driven in part by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced many people to stay home and bolstered demand for home entertainment options.\nRoblox is comparable to Minecraft, which Microsoft acquired in 2014, in that it is a broad gaming platform that fosters creativity and caters overwhelmingly to young children. After the exchange set a reference price of $45, which is specific to direct listings and mostly serves as historical context to investors as opposed to the offering price in an IPO, the stock promptly sprinted out of the gate. Could Roblox be a top performer in 2021?\nImage source: Roblox.\nSurging engagement during COVID-19\nRoblox's prospectus now includes financial information for the fourth quarter and full-year 2020. As one might expect, the business continued to enjoy strong growth to close out the year. There are three core operating metrics for investors to watch: daily active users (DAUs), hours engaged, and average bookings per DAU (ABPDAU).\n\n\n\nMetric\n2018\n2019\n2020\n\n\n\n\nDAUs\n12 million\n17.62 million\n32.59 million\n\n\nHours engaged\n9.43 billion\n13.65 billion\n30.6 billion\n\n\nABPDAU\n$41.53\n$39.40\n$57.77\n\n\n\nData source: Prospectus.\nHours engaged dipped slightly in the fourth quarter on a sequential basis, from 8.7 billion to 8.4 billion, but ABPDAU ticked higher to a record $17.30. Roblox notes that monetization tends to be very seasonal, with more users typically buying digital currency (Robux) and virtual goods over the holiday season.\nIn terms of financial results, revenue soared by 82% last year to $923.9 million, while bookings surged 171% to $1.9 billion in 2020. However, Roblox's operating loss roughly doubled to $1.2 billion. The company is investing heavily in research and development as it hires employees and develops new features and functionalities for the platform to drive future growth. Stock-based compensation has also skyrocketed due to aggressive hiring activity -- Roblox hired over 360 full-time employees last year to finish 2020 with 960, with nearly 80% of all workers being engineers and product developers.\nAdditionally, Roblox received another bullish vote of confidence from ARK Invest, led by widely followed institutional investor Cathie Wood. ARK has a unique practice of sending out daily emails that disclose what its actively managed ETFs are trading. In this case, ARK Next Generation Internet (NYSEMKT:ARKW) scooped up approximately 520,000 shares on the first day of trading. The notifications do not detail what prices were paid, but the position represented 0.47% of the portfolio.\nImage source: Roblox.\nHow will Roblox fare in a post-pandemic world?\nLike other companies that became inadvertent beneficiaries of the pandemic, the lingering question that Roblox faces is what happens to engagement as the world slowly returns to normal. Vaccine distribution is ramping up faster than expected and more schools are transitioning back to full-time, in-person learning (54% of DAUs are under the age of 13).\nRoblox does not believe the heightened levels will persist, warning: \"We do not expect these activity levels to be sustained, and in future periods we expect growth rates for our revenue to decline, and we may not experience any growth in bookings or our user base during periods where we are comparing against COVID-19 impacted periods.\"\nThe company adds: \"Further, as a result of global economic conditions, users may reduce their discretionary spending on Robux, may not renew their subscriptions or may otherwise reduce their usage of our platform, which would adversely impact our revenue and financial condition.\"\nRoblox is already commanding a market cap of nearly $40 billion, which translates into a lofty price-to-sales ratio of over 40. Investors are pricing in considerable growth going forward, and the company has the potential to keep delivering upbeat results even after market conditions normalize, as it has established its brand and platform as a top destination for young gamers.\nStill, the valuation seems a bit excessive considering the post-pandemic uncertainties, and it may take time for Roblox to grow into its market cap. It's not an easy business, as Offerpad's largest competitor, Zillow Group (NASDAQ:Z)(NASDAQ:ZG) recently proved when it dropped out of the segment after sustaining significant losses.

But there are bright spots to Offerpad's different approach, and Wall Street firm JMP Securities thinks the stock has what it takes to rise by 84% in the next 12 to 18 months to $12 a share. Here's why.

Being selective is key for Offerpad

Since 2019, Zillow has been on a home-buying binge, purchasing 26,014 houses -- in some cases, multiple-home estates -- with the intention of reselling them quickly for a profit. This strategy is great when real estate prices are rising across the board, but when pockets of the market go soft, it can result in significant losses.

Zillow recently listed up to 1,000 of its homes for sale in its five largest markets, 64% of which were reportedly priced below what it paid for them. And in Phoenix, Arizona, up to 93% of its properties are slated to be sold at a loss. In the recent third quarter, Zillow's iBuying segment lost $244 million and erased all of the gross profit the segment had made for the entire year.

Part of the issue is Zillow's broad geographical footprint. It operates in, and therefore had to carefully track, up to 35 markets across the U.S. Offerpad, on the other hand, operates in 17 markets. Where Zillow's iBuying average gross profit per home peaked at $18,665, Offerpad's average peak (so far) is $31,500 per home in the second quarter of 2021.

It highlights the importance of being selective, because like any asset class, home prices constantly fluctuate, and being on the wrong side can be catastrophic. For Offerpad, now that its largest competitor has moved out of the way, it has an opportunity to grow its market share in the higher-quality markets Zillow has left behind.

A surge in revenue

By the close of 2021, Offerpad expects it will have sold up to 6,000 homes for the year, driving a record revenue result. In the recent third quarter, it actually increased its 2021 revenue guidance by $100 million. But in 2022, analysts expect it will do even better.

Metric

2020

2021 (Estimate)

2022 (Projected)

CAGR

Revenue

$1.06 billion

$1.90 billion

$3.53 billion

82%

Data source: Offerpad, Yahoo! Finance. CAGR = Compound Annual Growth Rate.

Offerpad's gross profit per home of $22,700 in the third quarter was down from the $31,500 it generated in the second quarter. However, it was still a 48% year-over-year gain and is therefore trending in the right direction.

The company attributes its success to a combination of its technology and people. Where other iBuying companies rely solely on algorithms to price a home, Offerpad allows technology to do 90% of the work, and it then uses physical intervention by its employees to inspect the home and bring the deal to a close.

Additionally, it adds value by renovating houses using Offerpad-employed tradespeople, which allows it to achieve higher sale prices compared to simply flipping a property immediately. The company aims to buy, renovate, and sell each home within 100 days.

The stock is cheap

Offerpad's stock trades at a price-to-sales multiple of just 0.8. By comparison, and despite all of its issues, Zillow's stock trades at a multiple of 2.1 based on estimated 2021 revenue. That means Offerpad's stock would need to double from here just to trade in line with its tech-real estate peer.

If Offerpad meets analysts' expectations and generates $3.53 billion in revenue next year, its multiple will shrink further to just 0.4 (assuming its stock price remains the same). That makes its recent 68% decline in share price look like an attractive opportunity going into 2022.

Offerpad is expected to post a loss overall for 2021, but JMP Securities expects it will close out 2021 with a fourth-quarter profit of $0.35 per share. Here's why.Being selective is key for OfferpadSince 2019, Zillow has been on a home-buying binge, purchasing 26,014 houses -- in some cases, multiple-home estates -- with the intention of reselling them quickly for a profit. This strategy is great when real estate prices are rising across the board, but when pockets of the market go soft, it can result in significant losses.Zillow recently listed up to 1,000 of its homes for sale in its five largest markets, 64% of which were reportedly priced below what it paid for them. And in Phoenix, Arizona, up to 93% of its properties are slated to be sold at a loss. In the recent third quarter, Zillow's iBuying segment lost $244 million and erased all of the gross profit the segment had made for the entire year.Part of the issue is Zillow's broad geographical footprint. It operates in, and therefore had to carefully track, up to 35 markets across the U.S. Offerpad, on the other hand, operates in 17 markets. Where Zillow's iBuying average gross profit per home peaked at $18,665, Offerpad's average peak (so far) is $31,500 per home in the second quarter of 2021.It highlights the importance of being selective, because like any asset class, home prices constantly fluctuate, and being on the wrong side can be catastrophic. For Offerpad, now that its largest competitor has moved out of the way, it has an opportunity to grow its market share in the higher-quality markets Zillow has left behind.A surge in revenueBy the close of 2021, Offerpad expects it will have sold up to 6,000 homes for the year, driving a record revenue result. In the recent third quarter, it actually increased its 2021 revenue guidance by $100 million. But in 2022, analysts expect it will do even better.Metric20202021 (Estimate)2022 (Projected)CAGRRevenue$1.06 billion$1.90 billion$3.53 billion82%Data source: Offerpad, Yahoo! Finance. CAGR = Compound Annual Growth Rate.Offerpad's gross profit per home of $22,700 in the third quarter was down from the $31,500 it generated in the second quarter. However, it was still a 48% year-over-year gain and is therefore trending in the right direction. The company attributes its success to a combination of its technology and people. Where other iBuying companies rely solely on algorithms to price a home, Offerpad allows technology to do 90% of the work, and it then uses physical intervention by its employees to inspect the home and bring the deal to a close.Additionally, it adds value by renovating houses using Offerpad-employed tradespeople, which allows it to achieve higher sale prices compared to simply flipping a property immediately. The company aims to buy, renovate, and sell each home within 100 days. The stock is cheapOfferpad's stock trades at a price-to-sales multiple of just 0.8. By comparison, and despite all of its issues, Zillow's stock trades at a multiple of 2.1 based on estimated 2021 revenue. That means Offerpad's stock would need to double from here just to trade in line with its tech-real estate peer.If Offerpad meets analysts' expectations and generates $3.53 billion in revenue next year, its multiple will shrink further to just 0.4 (assuming its stock price remains the same). That makes its recent 68% decline in share price look like an attractive opportunity going into 2022.Offerpad is expected to post a loss overall for 2021, but JMP Securities expects it will close out 2021 with a fourth-quarter profit of $0.35 per share. The firm's price target of $12 might even look conservative if Offerpad can turn profitable next year -- it's even possible it could revisit its highs near $20 per share -- but it operates in a tough business, and investors should proceed with cautious optimism.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":189,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9001825182,"gmtCreate":1641220993066,"gmtModify":1676533584424,"author":{"id":"3560348984799159","authorId":"3560348984799159","name":"MoneyT","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560348984799159","authorIdStr":"3560348984799159"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Let's go 2022...","listText":"Let's go 2022...","text":"Let's go 2022...","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9001825182","repostId":"1117854838","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":225,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9054185171,"gmtCreate":1655353563493,"gmtModify":1676535621649,"author":{"id":"3560348984799159","authorId":"3560348984799159","name":"MoneyT","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560348984799159","authorIdStr":"3560348984799159"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$YZJ Fin Hldg(YF8.SI)$ $YZJ Fin Hldg(YF8.SI)$Why such heavy selling and the buy back is weak.","listText":"$YZJ Fin Hldg(YF8.SI)$ $YZJ Fin Hldg(YF8.SI)$Why such heavy selling and the buy back is weak.","text":"$YZJ Fin Hldg(YF8.SI)$ $YZJ Fin Hldg(YF8.SI)$Why such heavy selling and the buy back is weak.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9054185171","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":624,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"4088733501316390","authorId":"4088733501316390","name":"股利股怪","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/bfb825883fe1c3068daead3db24ed75c","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"4088733501316390","authorIdStr":"4088733501316390"},"content":"The buy back is so weak that short seller easily clear them","text":"The buy back is so weak that short seller easily clear them","html":"The buy back is so weak that short seller easily clear them"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9001855889,"gmtCreate":1641222100483,"gmtModify":1676533584699,"author":{"id":"3560348984799159","authorId":"3560348984799159","name":"MoneyT","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560348984799159","authorIdStr":"3560348984799159"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow.","listText":"Wow.","text":"Wow.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9001855889","repostId":"1145865545","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1145865545","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1641221107,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1145865545?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-03 22:45","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Semiconductor stocks jumped in morning trading, with TSM rising nearly 5%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1145865545","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Semiconductor stocks jumped in morning trading, with TSM rising nearly 5%.According to the latest re","content":"

Semiconductor stocks jumped in morning trading, with TSM rising nearly 5%.According to the latest research report of Goldman Sachs, the growth rate of TSMC in 2022 will be higher than that in 2021 due to the rise of chip prices, the industry upgrading cycle of high performance computer (HPC) / 5G and other favorable factors.

At one point in the last two years, Peloton's stock was selling at a price-to-sales ratio over 20. As of this writing, it's down to 2.7.

Yet Peloton's stock price crash could now be a bargain for long-term investors who can tolerate any further volatility the company could go through in the short term as it adjusts to changing consumer behavior.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Bargain Shopping? Poor performance, negative perception, and the fear of losing money can all cause stocks to sell off and trade at lower-than-usual prices.Peloton (NASDAQ:PTON) is one of those stocks that have sold off considerably in 2021. Indeed, the stock is down 77% this year. Let's look at what has caused it to fall so hard and whether it's a good value for bargain-shopping investors.Image source: Getty Images.Peloton management overcorrectedThe clearest reason Peloton's stock fell so much is the worldwide economic reopening.
