Here’s Why Cryptocurrencies Matter.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1194174383","media":"Barrons","summary":"Tucked away in the numbers that Nvidia will post Wednesday is revenue from cryptocurrency mining chi","content":"
Tucked away in the numbers that Nvidia will post Wednesday is revenue from cryptocurrency mining chips. Investors should keep an eye on the total.
\n
Why is simple: The peaks and valleys of crypto prices make it tough to peg demand for the chips, which the miners who handle the transactions need. And Nvidia (ticker: NVDA) earnings has gotten burned before when crypto prices tanked.
\n
This year, though, Nvidia has done two things to protect itself: Maybe most important, it changed the design of its videogame chips that crypto miners co-optedfor their business. And the company started making a version just for miners.
\n
The new chips arewhat Nvidia tracks as crypto revenue because it can’t accurately track how many videogame chips are being used for mining.
\n
The company’s finance chief, Colette Kress, has forecast $400 million in crypto chip sales for the second quarter—more than double first-quarter revenue of $155 million. The consensus revenue estimate for the segment that includes mining chips is $537.5 million, up from $327 million sequentially in the first quarter.
\n
Just like the results for any other company, investors want the actual numbers to at least match—and better yet beat—Kress’ estimates.
\n
BMO Capital Markets analyst Ambrish Srivastava has put forward several estimates on the true size of Nvidia’s mining business—the new chips added to the videogame chips.
\n
For the second quarter, Srivastava predicts $450 million in crypto revenue, which isn’t far off the company’s forecast; his estimate for the first quarter was $650 million, which was well above the $155 million Nvidia reported for just its mining chips.
\n
Investors should hope that Nvidia—and Srivastava—are close with their numbers so they can have a better idea of just how much exposure the company has to those sometimes-volatile crypto prices. A slump in crypto prices a few years ago translated to a drop in Nvidia’s revenue by nearly a third for four straight quarters.
\n
The rest of the quarter is fairly typical stuff. Overall, the consensus forecast is for adjusted earnings of $1.01 a share, on revenue of $6.3 billion.
\n
Investors also should pay attention to the data center segment. Chief executive Jensen Huang has talked up the demand around data-center graphics processors, which are often used for artificial intelligence and machine-learning tasks. Wall Street expects data center revenueto grow roughly 30% to $2.3 billion.
\n
The company’s core videogame chip business is expected to grow 80% to $3 billion. It’s worth looking for commentary from executives about the ongoing global chip shortage. Investors should keep an eye on the total.\nWhy is simple: The peaks and valleys of crypto prices make it tough to peg demand for the chips, which the miners who handle the transactions need. And Nvidia (ticker: NVDA) earnings has gotten burned before when crypto prices tanked.\nThis year, though, Nvidia has done two things to protect itself: Maybe most important, it changed the design of its videogame chips that crypto miners co-optedfor their business. And the company started making a version just for miners.\nThe new chips arewhat Nvidia tracks as crypto revenue because it can’t accurately track how many videogame chips are being used for mining.\nThe company’s finance chief, Colette Kress, has forecast $400 million in crypto chip sales for the second quarter—more than double first-quarter revenue of $155 million. The consensus revenue estimate for the segment that includes mining chips is $537.5 million, up from $327 million sequentially in the first quarter.\nJust like the results for any other company, investors want the actual numbers to at least match—and better yet beat—Kress’ estimates.\nBMO Capital Markets analyst Ambrish Srivastava has put forward several estimates on the true size of Nvidia’s mining business—the new chips added to the videogame chips.\nFor the second quarter, Srivastava predicts $450 million in crypto revenue, which isn’t far off the company’s forecast; his estimate for the first quarter was $650 million, which was well above the $155 million Nvidia reported for just its mining chips.\nInvestors should hope that Nvidia—and Srivastava—are close with their numbers so they can have a better idea of just how much exposure the company has to those sometimes-volatile crypto prices. A slump in crypto prices a few years ago translated to a drop in Nvidia’s revenue by nearly a third for four straight quarters.\nThe rest of the quarter is fairly typical stuff. Overall, the consensus forecast is for adjusted earnings of $1.01 a share, on revenue of $6.3 billion.\nInvestors also should pay attention to the data center segment. Chief executive Jensen Huang has talked up the demand around data-center graphics processors, which are often used for artificial intelligence and machine-learning tasks. Wall Street expects data center revenueto grow roughly 30% to $2.3 billion.\nThe company’s core videogame chip business is expected to grow 80% to $3 billion. It’s worth looking for commentary from executives about the ongoing global chip shortage. The expected increase in supply hasn’t quite materialized, according to Srivastava.\nShares of Nvidia slumped 2.5% during Tuesday’s regular session to $194.58, but have gained 48% this year. The benchmark PHLX Semiconductor index gained 16% in 2021.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NVDA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":544,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":830740269,"gmtCreate":1629102404151,"gmtModify":1676529930363,"author":{"id":"3562717829058854","authorId":"3562717829058854","name":"EverSys","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/11a08d675c0a4f706a53d64244901417","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3562717829058854","idStr":"3562717829058854"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls","listText":"Like pls","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":12,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/830740269","repostId":"1141951685","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":492,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9051243383,"gmtCreate":1654703492842,"gmtModify":1676535495503,"author":{"id":"3562717829058854","authorId":"3562717829058854","name":"EverSys","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/11a08d675c0a4f706a53d64244901417","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3562717829058854","idStr":"3562717829058854"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9051243383","repostId":"2241839291","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2241839291","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1654701621,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2241839291?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-08 23:20","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Goldman Sachs: Buy These 2 Stocks Before They Surge Over 40%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2241839291","media":"TipRanks","summary":"Uncertainty has been the name of the game in 2022. A combination of negative macro developments – a slowing global economy, the geopolitical ramifications following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and - possibly most of all - the prospect of the Fed seriously tightening its monetary policy to combat inflation – have all been weighing heavily on investors’ minds. That doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t good opportunities to take advantage of right now. The analysts at banking giant Goldman Sachs have pinpointed two names which have recently outperformed market expectations and which they believe are set to surge ahead even in the face of the unhospitable current environment – by the order of 40% or more.We ran both tickers through the TipRanks database to see what the rest of the Street has in mind for the pair. Let’s take a look at the findings.Pure Storage The first stock on Goldman Sachs' radar is Pure Storage, a provider of various data storage products. The company’s flash-based solutions come both in software and hardware form and are used in data centers. The company began by using third-party solid-state drives (SSDs) for its storage solutions. However, its own proprietary hardware soon replaced those SSDs and the company also brought into the market integrated deduplication, compression, and artificial intelligence software to help businesses conserve space and set up their devices properly.Pure Storage has formed a strong partnership with Meta, having assisted in the development of the initial version of its AI research infrastructure in 2017. Since then, the pair have continued working together and earlier this year the two began a collaboration on Meta's new AI Research SuperCluster (RSC), which Meta claims will be the fastest AI supercomputer in the world.Like most tech stocks, Pure has found 2022 hard going but that hasn’t stopped the company from delivering the goods in its latest quarterly report. In F1Q23, revenue rose by 50.3% year-over-year to reach $620.4 million, handily beating the $521.74 million Wall Street expected. Similarly, on the bottom-line, adj. EPS of $0.25 came in well above the $0.05 consensus estimate. The company delivered on the outlook too, expecting revenue of roughly $635 Million in FQ2 vs. consensus at $604.64 million. For the full year, sales are anticipated to reach $2.66 Billion. Analysts had that figure at $2.59 billion.Along with the company’s exemplary execution, it is the Meta collab which informs Goldman analyst Rod Hall’s bullish thesis.“We see this Meta opportunity as a strong revenue tailwind for Pure looking forward in FY’23. We also see ongoing strong results as an indication that Pure’s products are gaining an increasing following among enterprise and service provider customers,” the analyst opined. “At this point we see Pure’s supply management as superior to most other companies in our coverage in the IT hardware area.”The bullish comments underpin Hall’s Buy rating while his $50 price target makes room for one-year gains of 79%.Overall, PSTG has attracted a total of 10 analyst reviews recently, including 7 Buys and 3 Holds for a Moderate Buy consensus rating from the Street. PSTG shares are priced at $27.90 and have an average price target of $38, giving the stock a 36% upside on the one-year time frame.Lululemon Athletica From tech we will pivot over to an entirely different sector. Everyone knows Lululemon - the athleisure specialist. The company got its beginnings in 1998 as a yoga pants and other yoga clothing retailer, but has since evolved to include athletic wear, lifestyle clothes, personal care products and all manner of accessories. Lululemon now has over 570 stores spread across the globe while it has also built a strong online presence. In apparel, the company has been rated as the world's fourth most valuable brand.Lululemon was one of the Covid era stars as people stayed at home and slipped into more comfortable wear, while the company even managed to overcome the closure of physical stores by shifting sales online. While not immune to the market’s overall downturn, Lululemon appears to have managed well in the face of new challenges, namely the supply chain issues which have impacted so many in recent times. This was evident in the company’s latest earnings report - for F1Q22.Lululemon generated revenue of $1.6 billion, a 32% increase on the same period a year ago, while diluted EPS hit $1.48. Both were above the analysts’ forecast of $1.55 billion and $1.43, respectively. There was more good news for the outlook. For FQ2, Lululemon sees revenue coming in the range between $1.750 billion to $1.775 billion, above consensus of $1.73 billion. And the company also raised its revenue and EPS outlook for the full year.Surveying the print, Goldman Sachs analyst Brooke Roach is thoroughly impressed. She writes, “We come away from the quarter with increased conviction in LULU’s strong brand engine fueled by innovation. While industry cost pressures are weighing on margin flow-through (where airfreight pressures have lowered full year margin outlook modestly), we continue to see this idiosyncratic growth story as well-positioned to navigate a tough backdrop as the company has meaningful pricing power, strong consumer connection, and less exposure to inflating AUCs (average unit cost).”Accordingly, Roach rates the stock a Buy, backed by a $456 price target. Going by this target, shares are expected to climb 48% higher over the one-year timeframe.Looking at the consensus breakdown, the majority of analysts are bullish on LULU's prospects, too; 19 Buys and 7 Holds add up to a Moderate Buy consensus rating. These stocks typically provide very high yields, often in the high single- to low double-digit range.Of course, high yields often come with high risk, so investors need to identify high-quality MLPs that are likely to continue to at least maintain, if not raise, their distribution.Three of our top high-yield MLPs that we believe will continue to pay high yields to shareholders include:Enterprise Products Partners(NYSE:EPD)KNOT Offshore Partners(NYSE:KNOP)Magellan Midstream Partners(NYSE:MMP)Enterprise Products Partners (EPD)Our first name for consideration is Enterprise Products Partners, one of the largest MLPs in the industry. The $54.5 billion partnership generates annual revenue of close to $41 billion.Enterprise Products Partners stores and transports oil and gas through its massive pipeline system. In total, the partnership has nearly 50,000 miles of pipeline that transport natural gas, natural gas liquids, crude oil, and refined products. Enterprise Products Partners has storage facilities that can hold more than 250 million barrels. The partnership’s extensive network of pipeline grants it a diversity of asset and geographic reach. Enterprise Products Partners is also able to pivot its pipeline system to move whatever energy product it wishes. This gives Enterprise Products Partners an asset base that few other in the industry can match. It would be cost prohibitive and maybe even politically impossible for another partnership to try to replicate what the partnership has created.Enterprise Products Partners’ collects fees on the materials that it transports and stores, making the partnership a toll road for those wishing to move energy products. This helps to insulate the business from the ups and downs of the energy price cycle.Enterprise Products Partners is also well positioned to take advantage of the growing demand for liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas. The partnership has a number of terminals that will aid the business as the U.S. exports grow in size over the next few years.A credit rating of BBB+ and Baa1 from Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s, respectively, means that the partnership has a better balance sheet than the vast majority of MLPs.The business is been very successful over the years, which has allowed Enterprise Products Partners to raise its dividend for 23 consecutive years. This includes a 3.3% increase for the February 11th, 2022 payment. Enterprise Products Partners differs from most other companies in that it often raises its dividend every quarter, except for 2021, where the dividend was held constant all four payments. Using the new annualized dividend, distributions have a CAGR of more than 4% over the last decade.Shares yield 7.4%, more than five times the average yield of the S&P 500 Index. The dividend also looks to be in very sound ground, as Enterprise Products Partners has an average distributable cash flow per unit payout ratio of 57% over the last decade. Combining this reasonable payout ratio with a distribution coverage ratio of more than 1.6x, Enterprise Products Partners is poised to continue to raise its already generous dividend.KNOT Offshore Partners (KNOP)Our next pick of MLPs is KNOT Offshore Partners, which owns and operates shuttle tankers in the North Sea and Brazil. The partnership has a market capitalization of $525 million and revenue of $279 million last year.Knutsen NYK Offshore tankers AS, which is the sponsor for the partnership, has the responsibility of finding, purchasing, and dropping down of ships to KNOT Offshore Partners. As a result, the business is extremely efficient and has just one employee, its CEO.The partnership provides loading, transportation, and storage of crude oil under time charters and bareboat charters. Currently, there are seventeen shuttle tankers in service, most of which has long-term and fixed contracts that must be paid regardless of the price of energy. KNOT Offshore Partners’ shuttle tankers have an average age of just under 8 years, which means that the partnership could see several decades of use from its present fleet.Due to its business model, KNOT Offshore Partners hasn’t seen the fluctuations in distributable cash flow per unit that many of its peers have experienced. This is due to its contractual agreements and its ability to see higher rental rates when the price of energy is higher. This pattern is likely to continue as the sponsor could drop down as many as three new shuttle tankers through the end of the year.At the time of its most recent quarterly report, KNOT Offshore Partners had a utilization rate of 91.9%. This was below the prior year’s result, but this was due mostly to the timing of a charter contract and mechanical issues with another shuttle.KNOT Offshore Partners has maintained the same quarterly distribution of $0.52 per share since the November 13th, 2015 payment. The expected coverage ratio for last year is just 1.2, lower than it has been in recent years. The expected distributable cash flow payout ratio is also higher than normal at 84% for 2021. Historically, the payout ratio has been near 70%. Therefore, we do not anticipate that the partnership will raise its dividend in the near future. The tradeoff to this lack of growth is that shareholders are receiving a 13.4% yield today.Even with a high payout ratio and lack of dividend growth, we remain confident that KNOT Offshore Partners will be able to continue making its payments to shareholders. The business model has proven successful at navigating other difficult operating environments and will energy prices surging, KNOT Offshore Partners is expected continuing to see high demand for shuttle tankers.Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP)Our final pick among MLPs is Magellan Midstream Partners, which operates a vast pipeline network. The partnership is valued at $10.4 billion and has annual revenue of $2.8 billion.Like Enterprise Products Partners, Magellan Midstream Partners operates one of the longest pipeline systems of refined products in the country. The partnership operates 9,800 miles of pipeline and 54 terminals used in the transportation of refined products. Two storage facilities can hold 18 million barrels of product as well. The partnership also has 2,200 miles of crude oil pipeline and can store 37 million barrels. Magellan Midstream Partners connects to nearly half of the refining capacity in the U.S., giving it a size and scale that few, if any, are able to compete with.Given the breadth of Magellan Midstream Partners’ pipeline and storage network, the partnership is able to offer customers connection between refineries and gas stations and railroads throughout much of the country. As a result, Magellan Midstream Partners’ contracts often include inflation adjusted increases in fees, which is almost certainly benefiting the partnership given the rise in inflation.Magellan Midstream Partners has a fee-based model. Less than 10% of operating income is sensitive to energy prices, helping to insulate the partnership against downturns in the market. This could limit some upside potential, but this business model offers some stability in an industry where stability is rare.Magellan Midstream Partners had raised its dividend 70 consecutive quarters prior to freezing it due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The partnership last raised its dividend 1% for the November 12th, 2021 payment date. The payout ratio is expected to be 80% for 2021, in-line with the average of the last five years. Leadership also has a coverage ratio target of at least 1.2. Our expected coverage ratio for 2022 of 1.25 is ahead of this target. Shares of the partnership yield 8.5%.Final ThoughtsInvestors searching for sources of high yields that are secure don’t often have too many options to choose from. Enterprise Products Partners, KNOT Offshore Partners, and Magellan Midstream Partners are three names we believe can continue to offer investors generous yields that appear safe from a dividend cut. Each of these MLPs has competitive advantages that help separate it from the rest of the industry, leading to the generous yields that each offers. Each partnership also has sufficient coverage that a dividend cut does not appear to be imminent. This suggests that investors looking for safe and high yields consider adding Enterprise Products Partners, KNOT Offshore Partners, or Magellan Midstream Partners to their portfolio.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"KNOP":0.9,"EPD":0.9,"MMP":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":314,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9097097893,"gmtCreate":1645252908284,"gmtModify":1676534013929,"author":{"id":"3562717829058854","authorId":"3562717829058854","name":"EverSys","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/11a08d675c0a4f706a53d64244901417","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3562717829058854","idStr":"3562717829058854"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9097097893","repostId":"2212268576","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2212268576","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1645227827,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2212268576?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-02-19 07:43","market":"us","language":"en","title":"The Smartest Stocks to Buy if the Stock Market Plunges","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2212268576","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"When crashes and corrections rear their head, so does the opportunity for investors.","content":"
\n
Since the beginning of the year, Wall Street and investors have been given a reminder that stock market crashes and corrections are perfectly normal occurrences. The double-digit percentage decline the S&P 500 experienced in January marks the 39th correction of at least 10% for the widely followed index since the beginning of 1950.But where there are crashes and corrections, there's also opportunity. That's because every sizable decline in the S&P 500 has eventually been put in the rearview mirror by a bull market rally. If the broader market were to continue to plunge, the following four companies would be some of the smartest stocks to buy.Image source: Getty Images.Berkshire HathawayIn a world where growth stocks have dominated, perhaps no company has more consistently outperformed the broader market for decades than Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B).Berkshire might not be a household name, but its CEO, billionaire Warren Buffett, certainly is. Since taking the reins in 1965, Buffett has led his company's Class A shares (BRK.A) to an average annual gain of better than 20%. In aggregate, we're talking about a total gain of around 3,800,000% in 57 years. One of the key reasons the Oracle of Omaha is such a successful investor is due to his company's focus on cyclical businesses. Cyclical companies thrive when the economy is running on all cylinders and struggle when recessions arise. Buffett fully understands that recessions typically last for a few months to a couple of quarters. Comparatively, periods of expansion usually last for years, if not a decade. Warren Buffett is allowing time to be his ally and playing a simple numbers game that works in favor of ultra-long-term investors. The other not-so-subtle secret to Berkshire Hathaway's outperformance is dividend income. This year, Buffett's company is on pace to collect over $5 billion in payouts, which works out to a yield relative to cost of around 5%. Dividend stocks are almost always profitable and time-tested. This means Buffett and his team have packed Berkshire's portfolio with successful businesses that can navigate whatever the U.S. economy and stock market throw their way.Image source: Getty Images.Walgreens Boots AllianceHealthcare stocks are usually a wise place to put your money to work if the market plunges. That's why pharmacy chain and value stock Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ:WBA) would be such a smart buy.No matter how well or poorly the U.S. economy performs, or how high the year-over-year inflation figure rises, people don't get to choose when they get sick or what ailment(s) they develop. This means demand for prescription drugs, medical devices, and healthcare services tends to remain steady in any economic environment. What specifically makes Walgreens so intriguing is the company's multipoint growth strategy targeting higher margins and a faster organic growth rate. To lift margins, the company has reduced its annual operating expenses by more than $2 billion a full fiscal year ahead of schedule.Meanwhile, to boost the company's organic growth rate, Walgreens is spending aggressively on two key initiatives. First, it's actively promoting direct-to-consumer sales. Even though the company's brick-and-mortar locations will account for the lion's share of revenue, online sales are an easy way to boost organic growth as consumers shift their buying habits.Second, Walgreens has partnered with, and invested in, VillageMD to open upwards of 600 co-located, full-service clinics by 2025 in over 30 U.S. markets. These physician-staffed clinics can be used to funnel repeat clients to the company's higher-margin pharmacy.Image source: Getty Images.Palo Alto NetworksAnother exceptionally smart stock to buy if the market plunges is cybersecurity powerhouse and growth stock Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW).If you're noticing a theme with this list, it's that highly defensive sectors and industries are a smart place to put your money to work when corrections arise. Cybersecurity is a sustained double-digit growth trend which has become a basic necessity for businesses of all sizes that have an online or cloud-based presence. Hackers and robots simply don't care if Wall Street has a rough day. There are two key reasons Palo Alto makes for such an impressive growth story. To begin with, it's undergoing a business transformation that's emphasizing subscription services. Even though the company continues to sell physical firewall products, subscription services provide better long-term margins and less revenue lumpiness. Over time, a larger percentage of total sales will derive from these higher-margin channels.Palo Alto's other major growth driver is its many bolt-on acquisitions. Management hasn't been afraid to deploy capital in order to expand its product portfolio or broaden its pool of potential customers. These acquisitions have been pivotal in helping Palo Alto reach new small and medium-sized businesses.Image source: Getty Images.Bank of AmericaA fourth and final company that would be one of the smartest stocks to buy if the market plunges is money-center giant Bank of America (NYSE:BAC).Bank stocks like BofA are highly cyclical. Even though they can occasionally get caught up in the short-term emotions that weigh down stocks, they benefit immensely from the natural expansion of the U.S. and global economy over time. This allows patient investors in large bank stocks to build their wealth steadily over time. Not surprisingly, Bank of America is Warren Buffett's second-largest holding. What makes Bank of America such a perfect buy at the moment (and if the market continues to fall) is the upcoming shift in the Federal Reserve's monetary policy. With U.S. inflation hitting a 40-year high in January, the nation's central bank has no choice but to aggressively begin raising interest rates. No bank stock is more interest-sensitive than BofA. In its year-end report, the company noted that a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve would add an estimated $6.5 billion in net interest income. In other words, the more inflation becomes an issue, the likelier BofA is to see a big boost to its bottom line. Also, as I've previously pointed out, Bank of America's digital push is really paying dividends. Over the past three years, it's added 5 million new digital active customers and seen the aggregate number of loan sales completed online or via app jump from 31% to 49%. It's far more cost-effective when customers transact digitally than in person or by phone. As consumers make this digital shift, BofA has consolidated some of its branches and lowered its expenses.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BRK.B":1,"BAC":1,"WBA":1,"BRK.A":1,"PANW":1,".SPX":0.74}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":608,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9092829255,"gmtCreate":1644589041409,"gmtModify":1676533944027,"author":{"id":"3562717829058854","authorId":"3562717829058854","name":"EverSys","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/11a08d675c0a4f706a53d64244901417","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3562717829058854","idStr":"3562717829058854"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls","listText":"Like pls","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9092829255","repostId":"1178573242","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1178573242","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1644584533,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1178573242?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-02-11 21:02","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Pre-Bell|Nasdaq Futures Turned to Rise 0.09%; Zillow Surged 13.2%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1178573242","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"U.S. stock futures pointed to a fresh round of selling on Friday, sparked by growing expectations of","content":"

U.S. stock futures pointed to a fresh round of selling on Friday, sparked by growing expectations of quicker interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve following data that showed soaring inflation.

Market Snapshot

At 08:37 a.m. ET, Dow e-minis were up 5 points, or 0.01%, S&P 500 e-minis were up 2.25 points, or 0.05%, and Nasdaq 100 e-minis were up 13.5 points, or 0.09%.

Pre-Market Movers

Under Armour (UAA) – The athletic apparel maker reported an adjusted quarterly profit of 14 cents per share, doubling consensus estimates, with better-than-expected revenue. The major U.S. indexes were a year removed from their pandemic bottom and had delivered one of the strongest bounces from a bear-market in history. What's more, there was abundant access to cheap capital and the Federal Reserve was intent on maintaining its dovish monetary stance.But over the past 12 months, the wheels fell off the wagon in dramatic fashion -- and the nation's central bank may be to blame.While no one ever said overseeing monetary policy for the largest economy in the world would be easy, in hindsight the Fed left its foot on the accelerator for far too long. A combination of historically low lending rates and ongoing quantitative easing measures designed to drive down long-term bond yields has played a big role in sending the U.S. inflation rate to a four-decade high. In fact, a good argument can be made that the growth-focused Nasdaq Composite's brief tumble into bear market territory was primarily Fed-induced.Although big drops in the market can be scary at times -- especially when they're caused by the Fed shifting course -- they're historically the best time to put your money to work. That's because all notable declines are eventually erased by a bull market rally.Below are three of the smartest stocks investors can buy in a Fed-driven bear market.Berkshire HathawayThe first stock investors would be wise to buy in a Fed-induced bear market is conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway ( BRK.A )( BRK.B).Berkshire may not be a household name, but its CEO, billionaire Warren Buffett, probably is. Since taking over as CEO of the company in 1965, Buffett has overseen more than $760 billion in valuation creation for shareholders (himself included), and he's led Berkshire's Class A shares (BRK.A) to an average annual gain of just over 20%. In aggregate, we're talking about an increase of 4,210,069%, as of April 7.One of Buffett's not-so-subtle secrets to success is that he's packed Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio with cyclical companies. These are businesses that thrive when the economy is firing on all cylinders and struggle a bit when recessions strike. Instead of trying to time these inevitable downturns, Buffett has positioned Berkshire Hathaway and its investment portfolio to take advantage of long-winded expansions. After all, economic expansions last considerably longer than recessions.Something else to consider is that a sizable percentage of Berkshire Hathaway's owned and invested assets are in the financial sector. The Fed has made clear that it intends to reduce its balance sheet (i.e., sell Treasury bonds) and raise interest rates. Higher lending rates will be a boon for bank stocks that have variable-rate outstanding loans, and it'll also allow insurance companies to generate more interest income on their float (i.e., their unused premium). In short, Berkshire Hathaway is well-positioned to navigate a rising-rate environment.Berkshire Hathaway's success is also a function of Buffett's love for dividend stocks. Companies that pay a dividend are often profitable, time-tested, and have transparent long-term outlooks. This year, Berkshire should collect in excess of $5 billion in dividend income, with north of $4 billion coming from just a half-dozen holdings.Long story short, riding Buffett's coattails has long been a moneymaking investment strategy.Image source: Getty Images.CrowdStrike HoldingsJust because the stock market is falling and the Fed is scrambling to control historically high inflation, it doesn't mean growth stocks are off-limits for patient investors. A perfect example of a fast-paced company that's a smart buy is cybersecurity stock CrowdStrike Holdings (CRWD).Since the pandemic began more than two years ago, businesses have accelerated the pace at which they've moved data online and into the cloud. Given that hackers and robots don't take time off just because Wall Street had a bad day, the onus of protecting this data is increasingly falling onto third-party providers like CrowdStrike. Put another way, cybersecurity has evolved from an optional to essential service over the past two-plus decades.While the cybersecurity industry should be home to a number of winners, CrowdStrike really stands out for its cloud-native Falcon security platform. Falcon oversees approximately 1 trillion events per day and relies on artificial intelligence to grow more efficient at recognizing and responding to potential end-user threats. CrowdStrike isn't the cheapest solution in cybersecurity, but its gross retention rate of 98% suggests it's one of the best.Additional proof of Falcon's success can be seen in CrowdStrike's subscriber figures and organic growth rate. Over the past five years, the company's subscriber count has grown by an annual average of 105%. What's more, CrowdStrike has reported 16 consecutive quarters with a dollar-based retention rate of at least 120%. This is a fancy way of saying that existing clients spent at least 20% more on a year-over-year basis for four consecutive years (16 quarters).As the premier name in cybersecurity, any significant pullback in a Fed-driven bear market should be viewed as a buying opportunity.Image source: Getty Images.Walgreens Boots AllianceA third exceptionally smart stock to buy during a Fed-induced bear market is pharmacy chain Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA).Generally, healthcare stocks are nearly impervious to wild vacillations in the stock market and, to some extent, the U.S. economy. Because we can't control when we get sick, there's always demand for prescription drugs, medical devices, and healthcare services.However, Walgreens proved to be a bit of an exception to this rule during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since pharmacy chains are reliant on foot traffic into their stores, the pandemic put a hurting on Walgreens and its peers for a couple of quarters. With the worst of the pandemic likely in the rearview mirror, Walgreens looks poised to shine no matter what the nation's central bank does on the interest rate front.What makes Walgreens Boots Alliance such an attractive investment is the company's multipoint strategy to lift its margins and organic growth rate. As an example, Walgreens has slashed more than $2 billion in annual operating expenses a full year ahead of schedule. At the same time, it's spent aggressively on digitization initiatives that'll promote direct-to-consumer sales. Even though its brick-and-mortar locations will remain its primary revenue driver, the convenience of online sales should have no trouble boosting the company's organic growth rate.Speaking of organic growth, Walgreens has also partnered with and invested in VillageMD. The two have opened more than 100 full-service clinics nationwide, as of Feb. 28, 2022, with the goal of reaching at least 600 clinics in more than 30 U.S. markets by the end of 2025. The key here is that these are full-service, physician-staffed clinics, and can therefore handle much more than administering a vaccine. The ability to court repeat clients and funnel those patients to Walgreens' pharmacy should help improve brand loyalty and the company's bottom line.With Walgreens valued at just 9 times Wall Street's forecast earnings for fiscal 2022 (ended Aug. 31, 2022), now is the perfect time to pounce.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BRK.B":0.9,"CRWD":0.9,"BRK.A":1,"WBA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":462,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9098022799,"gmtCreate":1643979174089,"gmtModify":1676533878051,"author":{"id":"3562717829058854","authorId":"3562717829058854","name":"EverSys","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/11a08d675c0a4f706a53d64244901417","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3562717829058854","idStr":"3562717829058854"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls","listText":"Like pls","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9098022799","repostId":"1145823252","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":592,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
