I say "surprise" because the biotech's specialty isn't vaccines or infectious diseases. Its focus is on gene therapy for eye diseases.

But Ocugen signed a deal with India's Bharat Biotech for the U.S. co-commercialization rights of the company's close-to-market vaccine candidate Covaxin -- and investors cheered. In fact, all this interest propelled the stock to a 149% gain last year. And at its highest point, it rose more than 750%.

Eye-popping share gains and a potential coronavirus vaccine may make us think of another biotech company. I'm talking about vaccine-leader Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA). The company's shares soared 434% in 2020 as it developed and then commercialized a vaccine. The shares extended gains last year, and Moderna generated billions of dollars in vaccine revenue. Today, it's reasonable to ask: Could Ocugen follow in Moderna's footsteps?

Where Ocugen stands now

Let's take a look at some background information on Ocugen -- and where the company stands now. Bharat Biotech has commercialized Covaxin in India and about a dozen other countries. But that doesn't add money to Ocugen's coffers. Ocugen holds co-commercialization rights in the U.S. and Canada only. The company would keep 45% of profits in those countries.

Ocugen's shares have climbed from time to time on positive Covaxin trial data. The World Health Organization's addition of Covaxin to its emergency-use list also triggered optimism. These elements are positive because they support the idea that Covaxin is a safe and efficacious product. But they don't bring Covaxin any closer to commercialization in the U.S. or Canada, and what's most important for Ocugen is to bring Covaxin to market -- and generate revenue.

So far, Ocugen faces some significant hurdles. First, the U.S. and Canada already have vaccinated large percentages of their populations with Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. That means it will be difficult to carve out market share. Still, there's a bit of good news: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the "mixing and matching" of boosters, so if you got the Pfizer primary series, for instance, you could get a Covaxin booster (if it's eventually approved).

I used the word "approved" above because Ocugen is aiming for full approval -- not Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). And this represents another one of the hurdles. The FDA advised Ocugen last spring to opt for the traditional approval path rather than the EUA one. This means a review time of six to 10 months, versus a few weeks for an EUA.

Trial on hold

But the bad news doesn't stop there. Ocugen planned on launching a new clinical trial for Covaxin to support its regulatory request. In November, however, the FDA issued a clinical hold on the request. That means the trial can't start until Ocugen resolves questions or concerns the FDA has about the trial.

Ocugen submitted Covaxin to Canadian regulators in the second quarter of last year. They haven't yet issued a decision.

The problem with Ocugen isn't the quality of the vaccine. Data from trials in India have been positive. The real uncertainty is if and when Covaxin will reach the U.S. and Canadian markets. And if it's extremely late to market, it may be difficult to generate significant revenue.

The new Moderna?

Let's get back to our Ocugen/Moderna comparison. They both have vaccine products backed by strong data. But Moderna quickly brought its vaccine from development to commercialization. And Moderna benefits from sales of its vaccine worldwide -- not just in two countries.

These are two key reasons for Moderna's success today, and they're the two key elements missing from the Ocugen story. Moderna also has a pipeline with many late-stage programs, but Ocugen hasn't yet brought a candidate into clinical trials.

Ocugen shares may gain on any positive Covaxin news in the coming weeks or months. I say \"surprise\" because the biotech's specialty isn't vaccines or infectious diseases. And at its highest point, it rose more than 750%.Eye-popping share gains and a potential coronavirus vaccine may make us think of another biotech company. I'm talking about vaccine-leader Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA). The company's shares soared 434% in 2020 as it developed and then commercialized a vaccine. The shares extended gains last year, and Moderna generated billions of dollars in vaccine revenue. Today, it's reasonable to ask: Could Ocugen follow in Moderna's footsteps?Image source: Getty Images.Where Ocugen stands nowLet's take a look at some background information on Ocugen -- and where the company stands now. Bharat Biotech has commercialized Covaxin in India and about a dozen other countries. But that doesn't add money to Ocugen's coffers. Ocugen holds co-commercialization rights in the U.S. and Canada only. The company would keep 45% of profits in those countries.Ocugen's shares have climbed from time to time on positive Covaxin trial data. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the \"mixing and matching\" of boosters, so if you got the Pfizer primary series, for instance, you could get a Covaxin booster (if it's eventually approved).I used the word \"approved\" above because Ocugen is aiming for full approval -- not Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). And this represents another one of the hurdles. The FDA advised Ocugen last spring to opt for the traditional approval path rather than the EUA one. This means a review time of six to 10 months, versus a few weeks for an EUA.Trial on holdBut the bad news doesn't stop there. Ocugen planned on launching a new clinical trial for Covaxin to support its regulatory request. In November, however, the FDA issued a clinical hold on the request. That means the trial can't start until Ocugen resolves questions or concerns the FDA has about the trial.Ocugen submitted Covaxin to Canadian regulators in the second quarter of last year. The new Moderna?Let's get back to our Ocugen/Moderna comparison. Moderna also has a pipeline with many late-stage programs, but Ocugen hasn't yet brought a candidate into clinical trials.Ocugen shares may gain on any positive Covaxin news in the coming weeks or months. But as mentioned above, it's unclear when Covaxin will make it to market and how it can carve out much market share.Ocugen's other programs are too early stage to bring in revenue any time soon. That's why I expect more volatility from the company. And it's unlikely it will follow in the footsteps of bigger biotech rival Moderna.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1206,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9006304988,"gmtCreate":1641602645066,"gmtModify":1676533633178,"author":{"id":"3564565270877568","authorId":"3564565270877568","name":"PS153","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2e185e8aa9ee6ee618f951b9141b9e40","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3564565270877568","authorIdStr":"3564565270877568"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"what's going on this roku....","listText":"what's going on this roku....","text":"what's going on this roku....","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9006304988","repostId":"2201214400","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2201214400","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1641567477,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2201214400?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2022-01-07 22:57","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Here's Why Roku Stock Is Already Down 15% in 2022","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2201214400","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Could the stock fall 50% more than it already has?","content":"

What happened

Is Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU) stock grossly overvalued? In the future, the one that can harness this data will be miles ahead of their competitors, so the ability to process this massive data is expected to be extremely valuable.

Palantir (PLTR) is a company building "software that empowers organizations to effectively integrate their data, decisions, and operations," or in other words, Plantar is the company that is at the forefront of harnessing the power of data to solve enterprise-level extremely complex problems. Thus, being a leader in this industry makes the company's fundamentals and vision extremely attractive; however, I believe it is better for investors to wait for the time being before investing in Palantir. The economic policies and the market sentiments are moving away from the expansionary policy potentially opening up the possibility for further consolidation in Palantir stocks. Further, the massive amounts of stock-based compensation (SBC) that the company is justifying are unfriendly to shareholders. I think it is better for either the company to reduce SBC or wait until the revenue growth makes SBC a smaller part of the overall revenue.

Fundamentals

Before talking about the absurd valuation and the SBC, I would like to point out the marvelous business that Palantir has briefly pointed out that the only problem that the company or the stock has is its SBC and valuation.

Palantir's business is beautiful; it can be applied to governments and commercial customers in any industry. The company has the National Institute of Health, Department of Veteran Affairs, Army, Air Force, and etc., as its government customers who utilize Palantir's software to tackle everything from defense and intelligence gathering to improving veteran patient cares. Further, Palantir's commercial software applications are as flexible as the government business. The company has numerous enterprises as its customers including L3Harris (LHX), Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF), Ferrari (RACE), Rio Tinto (RIO), and etc. improving everything from manufacturing to mining. This alone shows investors the power of harnessing the data and the opportunity Palantir has moving forward into the future.

As a result of such a promising and dynamic product, the company's operational growth and financial health have been firing on all cylinders. In 2021Q3, Palantir reported revenue of $392 million, which was 36% growth year-over-year while the customer count grew even faster at 46%. I believe customer growth promises future revenue growth because it takes months to years for revenue to meaningfully materialize, so the fact that the customer growth grew even faster than the revenue growth was significant. Further, adjusted free cash flow turned positive to $119 million compared to -$53 million 2020Q3. The adjusted operating margins continued to be at 30% while the adjusted gross margin was at an impressive 82%. The company, in simple words, is showing growth and improving operations.

Stock-Based Compensation

Despite the promising fundamental thesis and top-line growth that the company has been showing, I do not believe Palantir stock is a buy at the moment because of massive SBC. The company has been massively diluting its shareholder base through absurd SBC citing that they need to attract talent, which may be true to some extent. As the chart below shows, since the IPO on September 30th, 2020, the company's outstanding shares increased from about 900 million to 1.964 billion, which is over 100% dilution. When calculating the dilution from the start of 2021 at 1.8 billion shares, the company has diluted shareholders by 10% in 2021 alone. I think this is simply absurd and shows the unfriendly attitude of the management towards its shareholder.

Data by YCharts.Chart created by author using YCharts from Seeking Alpha

To better understand how serious the dilution or the SBC is, I created a chart below showing the stock-based compensation data throughout 2021. As you can see in the chart below, SBC consistently represented over 50% of the company's revenue. It is the biggest cost for the company, and it has been the reason why the company has been reporting a net loss.

Chart created by author using Source 1, Source 2, and Source 3

SBC is a great way to reward employees and attract talent in the market. However, Palantir, in my opinion, has been degrading shareholder value due to excessive SBC. Thus, until either the SBC shows a decreasing trend or the SBC becomes irrelevantly small in comparison to the revenue, I believe investors should think twice before investing in Palantir.

Financials and Valuation

Unlike valuations, I believe the financial health of Palantir's balance sheet is great. The company currently has about $2.3 billion in cash with about $3.2 billion in total assets while the total liability stood at only $987 million putting total liability to asset ratio (L/A) at 43%. Further, because the company generated about $240 million during operation with negligible long-term debt, I believe the financial situation of Palantir is great.

On the other hand, Palantir's valuation is slightly questionable. The company has a market capitalization of about $37 billion dollars today. The company has a high price to sales ratio of about 28 with an expected forward price to earnings ratio of about 120. It is true that the company's business is high margin and crucial, but considering the SBC and today's economic conditions, I believe this valuation may be too high. Unlike in most of 2020 and 2021, the Federal Reserve is ending the expansionary policy. Instead, they are expecting to finish tapering by March of 2022 and raise rates possible in March, which will effectively raise long-term treasury rates and decrease the investment in the stock market. Therefore, a higher valuation might have been justified in the previous 2 years, but going into 2022, I believe a higher valuation may result in either contraction or range-bound trading for the time being.

Summary

Palantir is a unique company and a perfect example of a great company but a bad stock. I truly believe in the power and the potential of Palantir's software. It can be applied in almost any industry from healthcare to defense to manufacturing. However, the company's excessive stock-based compensation and valuation hesitate me. The company has been justifying its high stock-based compensation without showing signs of stopping, and I believe this is just taking advantage of its shareholders by diluting their value. Therefore, I believe it is better to wait until stock-based compensation is either showing a decreasing trend or becoming a smaller portion of the revenue due to Palantir's continued growth.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Let's Wait A Little More Before Buying Palantir
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nLet's Wait A Little More Before Buying Palantir\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-07 14:34 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
SummaryPalantir has immense opportunity as the world seeks to harness the power of the data. The company has great software that delivers a sticky product, high margin, and a near-ubiquitous ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PLTR":"Palantir Technologies Inc."},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4478236-palantir-wait-before-buying-pltr-stock","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1198431360","content_text":"SummaryPalantir has immense opportunity as the world seeks to harness the power of the data. The company has great software that delivers a sticky product, high margin, and a near-ubiquitous application to its service. However, due to the absurd stock-based compensation and a high valuation, I believe it is better to wait a little more before buying Palantir.Michael Vi/iStock Editorial via Getty ImagesIntroduction and ThesisOur future is inevitably data.Since the age of the internet, digitalization in all aspects of our society has been ongoing creating massive amounts of data. In the future, the one that can harness this data will be miles ahead of their competitors, so the ability to process this massive data is expected to be extremely valuable.Palantir (PLTR) is a company building \"software that empowers organizations to effectively integrate their data, decisions, and operations,\" or in other words, Plantar is the company that is at the forefront of harnessing the power of data to solve enterprise-level extremely complex problems. I think it is better for either the company to reduce SBC or wait until the revenue growth makes SBC a smaller part of the overall revenue.FundamentalsBefore talking about the absurd valuation and the SBC, I would like to point out the marvelous business that Palantir has briefly pointed out that the only problem that the company or the stock has is its SBC and valuation.Palantir's business is beautiful; it can be applied to governments and commercial customers in any industry. The company, in simple words, is showing growth and improving operations.Stock-Based CompensationDespite the promising fundamental thesis and top-line growth that the company has been showing, I do not believe Palantir stock is a buy at the moment because of massive SBC. It also said it could produce games, live theater and consumer products based on Mr. Dahl’s creations.
\n
The deal adds source material with proven cross-generational, mass appeal to the Netflix stable, with over 300 million of Mr. Dahl’s books sold globally. Financial terms of the deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, weren’t disclosed.
\n
Netflix started collaborating with the Roald Dahl Story Co. three years ago, and is already working on a “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” TV show as well as “Matilda The Musical.”
\n
The move for Mr. Dahl’s works comes as competition among streaming services intensifies. In July, Netflix said it had added 1.5 million subscribers globally in the second quarter, but lost 400,000 subscribers in North America. The company said it had 209.2 million subscribers worldwide.
\n
To stand out from the crowd, streaming services have targeted exclusive content that will resonate with subscribers. In May,Amazon.comInc.bought MGM Studios for $8.45 billion, describing its catalog as a “treasure trove” that would significantly bolster Amazon’s offering to viewers.
\n
In 2019, theWalt DisneyCo.released “The Mandalorian” on itsDisney+ streaming service, in the first of a series of TV shows based on the “Star Wars” franchise. Disney acquired “Star Wars” producer Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in 2012.
\n
Netflix will likely seek to similarly leverage Mr. Dahl’s catalog.
\n
Still, recent movie projects based on Mr. Dahl’s books have had a mixed reception at the box office. In 2005, a Warner Bros. “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” movie starring Johnny Depp was a big hit, grossing $475 million worldwide, according to IMDb. But more recent releases haven’t fared quite so well. A 2016 version of “The BFG,” produced by Disney and directed by Steven Spielberg, grossed $195 million and was profitable, but a HBO Max version of “The Witches,” released last year and starring Anne Hathaway, earned tepid reviews and grossed roughly $27 million.
\n
Mr. Dahl was born in Wales in 1916 to Norwegian parents. He served in Britain’s Royal Air Force in World War II before establishing himself as one of the world’s most successful children’s authors. Mr. Dahl died at 74 in 1990, and while his works have remained popular, he himself has been subject of controversy.
\n
Last year his family apologized for anti-Semitic remarks made by Mr. Dahl in a 1983 magazine interview, while urging audiences to remember that the writer had “positively impacted young people for generations.”
\n
Netflix jumped over 1% in premarket trading.
\n

\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; It also said it could produce games, live theater and consumer products based on Mr. Dahl’s creations.\nThe deal adds source material with proven cross-generational, mass appeal to the Netflix stable, with over 300 million of Mr. Dahl’s books sold globally. Financial terms of the deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, weren’t disclosed.\nNetflix started collaborating with the Roald Dahl Story Co. three years ago, and is already working on a “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” TV show as well as “Matilda The Musical.”\nThe move for Mr. Dahl’s works comes as competition among streaming services intensifies. In July, Netflix said it had added 1.5 million subscribers globally in the second quarter, but lost 400,000 subscribers in North America. The company said it had 209.2 million subscribers worldwide.\nTo stand out from the crowd, streaming services have targeted exclusive content that will resonate with subscribers. In May,Amazon.comInc.bought MGM Studios for $8.45 billion, describing its catalog as a “treasure trove” that would significantly bolster Amazon’s offering to viewers.\nIn 2019, theWalt DisneyCo.released “The Mandalorian” on itsDisney+ streaming service, in the first of a series of TV shows based on the “Star Wars” franchise. Disney acquired “Star Wars” producer Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in 2012.\nNetflix will likely seek to similarly leverage Mr. Dahl’s catalog.\nStill, recent movie projects based on Mr. A 2016 version of “The BFG,” produced by Disney and directed by Steven Spielberg, grossed $195 million and was profitable, but a HBO Max version of “The Witches,” released last year and starring Anne Hathaway, earned tepid reviews and grossed roughly $27 million.\nMr. Dahl was born in Wales in 1916 to Norwegian parents. He served in Britain’s Royal Air Force in World War II before establishing himself as one of the world’s most successful children’s authors. Mr. Dahl died at 74 in 1990, and while his works have remained popular, he himself has been subject of controversy.\nLast year his family apologized for anti-Semitic remarks made by Mr. Dahl in a 1983 magazine interview, while urging audiences to remember that the writer had “positively impacted young people for generations.”\nNetflix jumped over 1% in premarket trading.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":255,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":869305389,"gmtCreate":1632240702541,"gmtModify":1676530733337,"author":{"id":"3564565270877568","authorId":"3564565270877568","name":"PS153","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2e185e8aa9ee6ee618f951b9141b9e40","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3564565270877568","authorIdStr":"3564565270877568"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"wow","listText":"wow","text":"wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/869305389","repostId":"1166155010","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1166155010","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1632229759,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1166155010?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2021-09-21 21:09","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Guggenheim Sees 14% Upside In PepsiCo - Read Why","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1166155010","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Guggenheim analyst Laurent Grandet has raised PepsiCo Inc (NASDAQ:PEP) price target to $175 from $17","content":"
Guggenheim analyst Laurent Grandet has raised PepsiCo Inc (NASDAQ:PEP) price target to $175 from $171 (implying an Upside of 13.92%) and keeps a Buy rating on the shares.
\n
The analyst said the core business is accelerating as Pepsi takes share from Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO). The rockstar stock picker's ARK Innovation ETF skyrocketed 149% in 2020, putting her firm on the map and making Wood widely followed among retail investors.
\n
Ten stocks make up approximately half of the portfolio, which focuses on innovative companies harnessing disruptive technologies to attack large market opportunities. One of these holdings, Square (NYSE:SQ), appears particularly interesting right now.
\n
Let's find out why this Cathie Wood stock looks unstoppable.
\n

\n
\n
Competitive advantages galore
\n
Square's stock price performance since its initial public offering (IPO) has been nothing short of spectacular, catapulting nearly 1,900% since November 2015. For anyone familiar with the company, this is hardly a surprise. Square possesses a plethora of competitive advantages that support its remarkable success.
\n
For starters, the business benefits from intangible assets, namely its strong brand name and technological know-how in developing elegant products and services. The company's Net Promoter Score, which measures the likelihood that customers will recommend Square to others, hovers around 65. This is double the average of banking providers in general.
\n
Second, Square has scale advantages. Excluding Bitcoin trading volume, which distorts the company's financials, Square's revenue in the last quarter totaled just shy of $2 billion, rising 88% from the prior-year period. Additionally, growing payment volume has resulted in Q2 non-Bitcoin gross margin expanding four percentage points from the same quarter last year.
\n
This scale has stemmed from Square building a powerful two-sided platform of consumers and merchants, which gives the company another edge coming from network effects. The Seller ecosystem, which consists of millions of small businesses that processed $38.5 billion in gross payment volume in the second quarter, and the Cash App, which has 40 million monthly active users, provide Square with a sticky and valuable user base that it can continue pushing new features to.
\n
And that leads to the final competitive advantage: Switching costs. If a merchant starts accepting payments with Square, getting familiar with the software and hardware, they're going to be reluctant to change to another provider even if it's cheaper. Conversely, Cash App customers will hesitate to change personal banking providers once they've started using the service. Just think of the immediate headache you'd have if you had to change your bank.
\n
Square clearly has every competitive strength imaginable, so it's no wonder the company has thrived and will continue to thrive. Cathie Wood recognizes these characteristics, and it's why her Ark Innovation ETF owns more than $800 million worth of the stock.
\n

\n
\n
Large addressable market
\n
Obviously, what matters for investors is where the company and stock are headed going forward. In an investor presentation from December of last year, management highlighted a massive addressable market that Square is going after. The business sees a $100 billion revenue opportunity on the Seller side, and a $60 billion revenue opportunity on the consumer side. Square has barely scratched the surface so far.
\n
Underpinning the growth strategy is a plan to release new products and services and to enter new markets. Square's sellers currently operate in the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, the U.K., and Ireland, while Cash App customers are only in the U.S., the U.K, and Ireland. There are many more countries the company can pursue in the future.
\n
Boosting the product development front is Square's recently announced acquisition of buy now, pay later (BNPL) leader Afterpay. This further integrates the Seller and Cash App ecosystems and provides users with another popular payment option. Afterpay brings 16 million highly engaged individuals and 100,000 merchants onto Square's platform, something that will only strengthen the company's competitive positioning.
\n
Lofty, but achievable, expectations
\n
According to traditional valuation metrics, such as the forward price-to-earnings (129) or the forward price-to-sales (6) ratios, Square looks like a top-shelf stock today. There are certainly some serious growth expectations baked into the stock price, but based on my arguments above, Square should be able to execute and deliver on the hype.
\n
Wall Street analysts are forecasting that earnings per share will balloon to $3.16 by 2023. Just last year, in 2020, this figure came in at $0.44. The stock is rated as a strong buy on the street, with an average price target of $314, implying better than 20% upside from today's prices.
\n
Investors are full of optimism on this stock, and for good reason. This is a longtime market beater, and the years ahead still look very right. Follow Cathie Wood's move and consider adding Square to your portfolio.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
This Cathie Wood Stock Looks Unstoppable
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThis Cathie Wood Stock Looks Unstoppable\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-21 20:01 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
There's a new luminary on Wall Street, and her name is Cathie Wood. In an investor presentation from December of last year, management highlighted a massive addressable market that Square is going after. The business sees a $100 billion revenue opportunity on the Seller side, and a $60 billion revenue opportunity on the consumer side. Square has barely scratched the surface so far. \nUnderpinning the growth strategy is a plan to release new products and services and to enter new markets. Square's sellers currently operate in the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, the U.K., and Ireland, while Cash App customers are only in the U.S., the U.K, and Ireland. There are many more countries the company can pursue in the future. \nBoosting the product development front is Square's recently announced acquisition of buy now, pay later (BNPL) leader Afterpay. This further integrates the Seller and Cash App ecosystems and provides users with another popular payment option. Afterpay brings 16 million highly engaged individuals and 100,000 merchants onto Square's platform, something that will only strengthen the company's competitive positioning. \nLofty, but achievable, expectations \nAccording to traditional valuation metrics, such as the forward price-to-earnings (129) or the forward price-to-sales (6) ratios, Square looks like a top-shelf stock today. There are certainly some serious growth expectations baked into the stock price, but based on my arguments above, Square should be able to execute and deliver on the hype.\nWall Street analysts are forecasting that earnings per share will balloon to $3.16 by 2023. Just last year, in 2020, this figure came in at $0.44. The stock is rated as a strong buy on the street, with an average price target of $314, implying better than 20% upside from today's prices.\nInvestors are full of optimism on this stock, and for good reason. This is a longtime market beater, and the years ahead still look very right. Follow Cathie Wood's move and consider adding Square to your portfolio.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":505,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":860359984,"gmtCreate":1632139766348,"gmtModify":1676530708410,"author":{"id":"3564565270877568","authorId":"3564565270877568","name":"PS153","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2e185e8aa9ee6ee618f951b9141b9e40","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3564565270877568","authorIdStr":"3564565270877568"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"opportunity coming","listText":"opportunity coming","text":"opportunity coming","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/860359984","repostId":"1112144590","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1112144590","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1632132479,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1112144590?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2021-09-20 18:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Bitcoin Drops Below $45,000. Regardless ofwhat stage of the market cycle we're in","content":"
Bull market, bear market, or trend-less market? Regardless ofwhat stage of the market cycle we're in, some folks never tire of searching for cheap stocks to buy.
\n
And who doesn't love a bargain? After all, the lure of finding a stock that triples from $1 to $3 a share, or quintuples from $5 to $25, may prove irresistible.
\n
Are there any unique problems or subtle challenges with this strategy of hunting cheap stocks to buy? Yes. Let's consider a few.
\n
Hundreds of stocks trade at a \"low\" price on both the Nasdaq and the NYSE. So, how can you pick the winners consistently?
\n
Here's another problem: IBD research consistently finds that dozens, if not hundreds, of great stocks each year do not start out as penny shares. Most institutional money managers don't touch cheap stocks. Imagine a large-cap mutual fund trying to buy a meaningful stake in a stock that has been trading a dollar a share. If it has thin trading volume, the fund manager will have an awfully tough time accumulating shares without making a big impact on the stock price.
\n
Solid, increasing institutional buying makes upthe I in CAN SLIM, IBD's seven-factor paradigm ofsuccessful investing in growth stocks.
\n
Cheap Stocks To Buy: First, Understand These Pitfalls
\n
Another cold, hard truth that proponents of penny stocks don't tell you? Many low-priced shares stay low for a very long time.
\n
So, if your hard-earned money is tied up in a 50-cent stock that fails to generate meaningful capital appreciation, you might not only be nursing a losing stock. You also face the lost opportunity of investing in atrue stock market leader in Leaderboardor a member of theIBD 50, theLong-Term Leaders, orIBD Big Cap 20.
\n
Let's considerZoom Video(ZM) and telemedicine pioneerTeladoc(TDOC) in 2020, after the coronavirus bear market ended. These two and many others traded at an \"expensive\" price when they broke out to new 52-week highs and began magnificent rallies. But the quality of their business, the supercharged growth in fundamentals, and significant buying by top-rated mutual funds affirmed that their premium share prices signaled a high level of quality.
\n
Zoom Video, after clearing adeep cup baseat 107.44 in February 2020, went on to rise nearly sixfold to its 2020 peak at 588. Today? Zoom stock is forming anew baseand testing buying support at the50-day moving average. Last month, ZM joinedSwingTraderas a new position.
\n
Teladocroared past an 86.40proper buy pointin mid-January 2020. Seven months later, the stock hit 253, up 193%. Today? TDOC stock is trying to climb back above its key50-day moving average, a critical technical level of medium-term price support and price resistance. Like Zoom, Teladoc is also deep in the weeds ofbuilding a new base.
\n
Zoom And Teladoc Aren't Alone
\n
Leaderboard memberAdobe(ADBE) cleared a 157.99 entry in afive-week flat basein the week ended Oct. 20, 2017. The megacap tech marked a new high of 536 in early September 2020 before cooling off. And the video editing, document management, and data analytics software giant recently staged anothernew breakoutpast anew buy point, this time at 525.54.
\n
ADBE stock has rallied sharply, gaining more than 20%. Adobe has been a mainstay on theIBD Long-Term Leaders.
\n
Still, can you employ theCAN SLIM strategyfor cheap stocks to buy as well?
\n
5 Cheap Stocks To Watch And Buy
\n
TheIBD Stock Screenerfilters cheap stocks that not only trade at $10 or less per share. Some also carry many of the key fundamental, technical and fund ownership quality traits routinely seen among the greatest stock market winners.
\n
Keep in mind that liquidity is often thin. So, you might not get trade executions at an ideal price. If fund managers dump shares all at once to lock in profits, you might incur further losses when exiting the stock.
\n
So, check the gap between a cheap stock's best bid and best ask prices, or the difference between what one investor is willing to pay and another is willing to sell. The smaller the gap between bid and ask prices, the less price slippage.
\n
And don't forget the No. 1 rule of investing:keep your losses small and under control.
\n
Stock No. 1, screening for top IBDComposite Rating:Wipro(WIT). The India-based IT consultant has made a superb run-up since bottoming at 2.52 at the low of the coronavirus market crash in March 2020. Shares formed aflat basethat highlights an 8.42proper buy point. Now, WIT has cleared this correct entry.
\n
Buy With Rules
\n
The5% buy zonegoes up to 8.83. So, WIT is on the verge of jumping out of the ideal buy range.
\n
TheComposite Ratingremains superlative at 97 on a scale of 1 (wizened) to 99 (wizardly). WIT also stands out with a 90Relative Strength Rating. A 94 RS Rating means Wipro has outrun 94% of all companies in the IBD database over the past 12 months.
\n
You might ask: Why is the entry point exactly at 8.42?
\n
For starters, we take the highest price on the left side of a flat base — in Wipro's case, 8.32 — then add a dime. Moving 10 cents above the base's high gives the individual trader a sense that large fund managers are earnestly accumulating shares. Again, you want the institutions working with you, not against you.
\n
Please read this Investor's Corner for more insight into finding thecorrect buy point.
\n
William O'Neil, founder of Investor's Business Daily, liked to use one-eighth of a point (or roughly 12 cents) as the amount a stock had to rise above a pivot point before he considered a stock as breaking out. Of course, until decimalization transformed the stock market at the dawn of the new millennium, the major U.S. exchanges quoted share prices in one-eighths, one-sixteenths and even one-32nds of a dollar.
\n
Cheap Stock No. 2
\n
Stock No. 2, screening for top IBD Composite Rating:Entravision Communications(EVC). The Santa Monica-based Spanish language media firm owns TV stations and FM and AM radio stations across nine states. The stock broke out of a 4.52entry pointin surging volume during the week ended May 21.
\n
Three weeks ago, the stock made a sound first test of buying support at the10-week moving averagenear 5.62. Yet this week, EVC is pulling back hard and eyeing another test of institutional support near that 10-week line, which has now risen to 6.34.
\n
Buying shares as close as possible to the 10-week moving average amid a healthy rebound offers the intrepid trader asecondary buy point.
\n
Entravision's IBD ratings include an 86 Composite, which is below a preferable level of 90 or higher; 98 Relative Strength; anup/down volume ratioof 1.5; and back to a solid A- forAccumulation/Distribution. The stock also pays a dividend; due to recent strong price gains, the annualized yield has dropped to 1.6%.
\n
The company reported strong second-quarter results on Aug. 5. Earnings tripled to 9 cents a share as revenue vaulted 295% vs. a year ago to $178 million.
\n
Premium IBD Ratings Galore
\n
Stock No. 3, screening for topComposite Rating:Loma Negra(LOMA). The Argentine cement, concrete, aggregates and lime supplier posted a 500% jump in first-quarter earnings vs. a year earlier to 24 cents a share. Sales accelerated to a 37% gain to $143 million, according toMarketSmith. TheIBD relative strength linebolted to new 52-week highs recently.
\n
Loma Negra briefly pulled back into the5% buy zoneafter clearing abase-on-base patternat 6.79. The buy zone goes up to 7.13. However, like other commodity stocks, LOMA has fallen sharply in recent days.
\n
In short, don't chase the stock. Good time to wait and watch.
\n
Loma'sComposite Ratinghas fallen to an unsavory 69 rating. The 86 RS Rating is good but not great anymore.
\n
An 86 RS score means over the past 12 months Loma has outperformed 86% of all companies in the IBD database.
\n
A Former Huge Winner In Apparel Retail
\n
Stock No. 4, screening for topRelative Strength Rating:Chico's FAS(CHS). The former leader of IBD's retail apparel and shoes industry group is continuing to make atest of the 10-week lineafter clearing acup-without-handle basein March at 4.22.
\n
The first and second rallies off the 10-week line — near 5.76 during the week ended July 23 — after astrong breakoutpose as secondary entry points.
\n
Due to the recent pullback, it's now beginning to look as if CHS will form anew base.
\n
Among cheap apparel stocks to buy, Chico's sports a top-drawer 99 RS Rating. This means its relative strength is top-notch. Put another way, CHS has outperformed 99% of all companies in the IBD database over the past 12 months.
\n
On the fundamentals side, at least eight quarters in a row of net losses by the Fort Myers, Fla., firm weigh on the drab 69Composite Rating. But sales rebounded 38% in the April-ended fiscal first quarter to $388 million. According to Yahoo Finance, one analyst thinks Chico's will post a net loss of 4 cents a share in the July-ended second quarter; another analyst targets an 11-cent loss. The women's apparel chain lost 40 cents a share in the year-ago quarter.
\n
The consensus forecast calls for a 33% jump in the top line, however, to $407.4 million. Look for Q2 results in late August.
\n
Chip Leader Stumbles
\n
Stock No. 5, screening for Fastest Growing Earnings Per Share:United Microelectronics(UMC). The Taiwan-based integrated circuit maker has risen nearly fourfold after a July 2020 breakout around 3. Anew baseoffers an earlyentry pointat 9.92, 10 cents above the high in the week ended June 4.
\n
On July 29, UMC stock broke out with an 8% gain and rallied into the5% buy zone, which goes up to 10.42 from the 9.92 buy point. But UMC has retreated sharply. On the bright side, UMC is holding above the key 10-week moving average. And it remains mildly above the 9.92breakout point.
\n
A key rule is to never let a stock that shows a double-digit percentage gain turn into afull round trip— even among cheap stocks.
\n
United's earnings per share have grown 50%, 350%, 225%, 167%, 400% and 100% vs. year-ago levels in the past six quarters on sales increases of 32%, 30%, 28%, 15%, 19% and 21%. Solid numbers for bothComposite Rating(94) and Relative Strength (95); however, these ratings are best used for selecting stocks to buy, not for timing any entries or exits.
\n
UMC holds a best-possible A grade for theSMR Rating, which measures sales, margins andreturn on equity.
\n
A Strong Second Quarter
\n
United Micro reported robust second-quarter results on July 28. According to Yahoo Finance, one analyst saw UMC notching a net profit of 13 cents per share while another saw 15 cents vs. 9 cents a year ago. The company exceeded both analysts' views with profit of 18 cents a share, doubling the 9 cents it earned a year earlier.
\n
Sales grew 21% to $1.82 billion. This increase also marked a second quarter in a row of accelerating growth. The top line rose 15% in Q4 2020 and accelerated 19% in Q1 this year.
\n
More Trading Ideas
\n
Several weeks ago, these two cheap stocks made either the \"Accelerating Sales\" or \"Top Relative Strength Rating\" segment ofIBD Stock Screener: Dynavax Technologies(DVAX) and JMP Group(JMP).
\n
Both stocks move sharply week to week, yet are respecting a key technical support level, the10-week moving average.
\n
JMP cleared a 6.45buy pointin afour-month cup with handle. However, the handleformed near the middle of its cup pattern. You'd prefer to see the handle begin forming when a stock has climbed to within 5%, 10% or possibly 15% of its 52-week high.
\n
Notice how JMP still trades below the cup's left-side peak of 7.30 and its 52-week peak of 8.99.
\n
Dynavax is retreating fast after a big breakout past acup with handleand a 10.45entry point. Shares are still extended pastthe 5% buy zoneafter clearing 10.45.
","source":"lsy1610449120050","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Cheap Stocks To Buy: Should You Watch These 5 Growth Stocks?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nCheap Stocks To Buy: Should You Watch These 5 Growth Stocks?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-22 11:46 GMT+8 investors\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Bull market, bear market, or trend-less market? Good time to wait and watch.\nLoma'sComposite Ratinghas fallen to an unsavory 69 rating. The 86 RS Rating is good but not great anymore.\nAn 86 RS score means over the past 12 months Loma has outperformed 86% of all companies in the IBD database.\nA Former Huge Winner In Apparel Retail\nStock No. 4, screening for topRelative Strength Rating:Chico's FAS(CHS). The former leader of IBD's retail apparel and shoes industry group is continuing to make atest of the 10-week lineafter clearing acup-without-handle basein March at 4.22.\nThe first and second rallies off the 10-week line — near 5.76 during the week ended July 23 — after astrong breakoutpose as secondary entry points.\nDue to the recent pullback, it's now beginning to look as if CHS will form anew base.\nAmong cheap apparel stocks to buy, Chico's sports a top-drawer 99 RS Rating. This means its relative strength is top-notch. Put another way, CHS has outperformed 99% of all companies in the IBD database over the past 12 months.\nOn the fundamentals side, at least eight quarters in a row of net losses by the Fort Myers, Fla., firm weigh on the drab 69Composite Rating. But sales rebounded 38% in the April-ended fiscal first quarter to $388 million. According to Yahoo Finance, one analyst thinks Chico's will post a net loss of 4 cents a share in the July-ended second quarter; another analyst targets an 11-cent loss. The women's apparel chain lost 40 cents a share in the year-ago quarter.\nThe consensus forecast calls for a 33% jump in the top line, however, to $407.4 million. Look for Q2 results in late August.\nChip Leader Stumbles\nStock No. 5, screening for Fastest Growing Earnings Per Share:United Microelectronics(UMC). The Taiwan-based integrated circuit maker has risen nearly fourfold after a July 2020 breakout around 3. Anew baseoffers an earlyentry pointat 9.92, 10 cents above the high in the week ended June 4.\nOn July 29, UMC stock broke out with an 8% gain and rallied into the5% buy zone, which goes up to 10.42 from the 9.92 buy point. But UMC has retreated sharply. On the bright side, UMC is holding above the key 10-week moving average. And it remains mildly above the 9.92breakout point.\nA key rule is to never let a stock that shows a double-digit percentage gain turn into afull round trip— even among cheap stocks.\nUnited's earnings per share have grown 50%, 350%, 225%, 167%, 400% and 100% vs. year-ago levels in the past six quarters on sales increases of 32%, 30%, 28%, 15%, 19% and 21%. Solid numbers for bothComposite Rating(94) and Relative Strength (95); however, these ratings are best used for selecting stocks to buy, not for timing any entries or exits.\nUMC holds a best-possible A grade for theSMR Rating, which measures sales, margins andreturn on equity.\nA Strong Second Quarter\nUnited Micro reported robust second-quarter results on July 28. According to Yahoo Finance, one analyst saw UMC notching a net profit of 13 cents per share while another saw 15 cents vs. 9 cents a year ago. The company exceeded both analysts' views with profit of 18 cents a share, doubling the 9 cents it earned a year earlier.\nSales grew 21% to $1.82 billion. This increase also marked a second quarter in a row of accelerating growth. The top line rose 15% in Q4 2020 and accelerated 19% in Q1 this year.\nMore Trading Ideas\nSeveral weeks ago, these two cheap stocks made either the \"Accelerating Sales\" or \"Top Relative Strength Rating\" segment ofIBD Stock Screener: Dynavax Technologies(DVAX) and JMP Group(JMP).\nBoth stocks move sharply week to week, yet are respecting a key technical support level, the10-week moving average.\nJMP cleared a 6.45buy pointin afour-month cup with handle. However, the handleformed near the middle of its cup pattern. You'd prefer to see the handle begin forming when a stock has climbed to within 5%, 10% or possibly 15% of its 52-week high.\nNotice how JMP still trades below the cup's left-side peak of 7.30 and its 52-week peak of 8.99.\nDynavax is retreating fast after a big breakout past acup with handleand a 10.45entry point. Shares are still extended pastthe 5% buy zoneafter clearing 10.45.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":83,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":896887348,"gmtCreate":1628569488284,"gmtModify":1703508293286,"author":{"id":"3564565270877568","authorId":"3564565270877568","name":"PS153","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2e185e8aa9ee6ee618f951b9141b9e40","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3564565270877568","authorIdStr":"3564565270877568"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please give me a like.... thanks","listText":"Please give me a like.... thanks","text":"Please give me a like.... thanks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/896887348","repostId":"2158440044","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":127,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":896884245,"gmtCreate":1628569426687,"gmtModify":1703508291971,"author":{"id":"3564565270877568","authorId":"3564565270877568","name":"PS153","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2e185e8aa9ee6ee618f951b9141b9e40","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3564565270877568","authorIdStr":"3564565270877568"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Skillz Inc(SKLZ)$It's really not performing last quarter...
