Fool","summary":"The long-term prospects look much brighter for these great companies.","content":"
There's a good reason why AMC Entertainment ranks as the third most popular stock for Robinhood investors. Shares of the theater chain have skyrocketed more than 2,500% so far this year. Most of those gains have come over the last few weeks.

Investors are deluding themselves if they think that kind of momentum for AMC is sustainable. However, there are other popular Robinhood stocks that do have attractive growth prospects. Here are three Robinhood stocks that could make you a lot richer than AMC will going forward.

Facebook

Don't believe for one second that lots of people have thrown in the towel on Facebook (NASDAQ:FB). The social media giant's number of monthly active users has continued to climb, topping 2.85 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, the number of frequent moviegoers -- AMC's prime customers -- was slipping in 2019 before anyone had ever heard of COVID-19.

Facebook is working hard to build a trillion-dollar empire. One key component of this effort is to continue attracting users to its social media platforms so that it can sell more ads. However, the company isn't just focused on social media. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted three areas in Facebook's Q1 update that could be massive growth drivers in the future -- augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), commerce, and the \"creator economy.\"

The company is already a leader in VR with its Oculus devices. Facebook and Ray-Ban have first-generation AR smart glasses on the way. It's also developing new devices including haptic gloves plus a virtual world called Horizon. Zuckerberg thinks that AR and VR will \"unlock a massive amount of value\" over time.

As for e-commerce, more than 1 billion people already visit Facebook Marketplace each month. Facebook recently launched Shops, an online storefront platform that has more than 250 million monthly visitors. The company is also developing a platform and tools that support the creator economy, including options for content creators to monetize their offerings.

Moderna

Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) stands as one of the key reasons why AMC could see its fortunes improve in 2021. The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna has been given to millions of Americans and remains one of only three vaccines to secure U.S. Emergency Use Authorization so far.

As of its Q1 update in early May, Moderna had advanced purchase agreements in place for its COVID-19 vaccine totaling more than $19 billion. Since then, the company has picked up additional supply deals.

Moderna seems likely to make even more money next year than it will in 2021. Beyond 2022, the company anticipates that emerging coronavirus variants will result in the need for annual vaccinations.

But is all of this growth already priced into the biotech stock? Nope. Moderna's shares currently trade at only nine times expected earnings. With plenty of other pipeline candidates based on its messenger RNA technology potentially on the way, Moderna could easily make investors who hold on for the long run much richer.

Square

Like AMC, Square (NYSE:SQ) should directly benefit from the reopening of the U.S. economy. The company's seller ecosystem serves many small and medium-sized businesses that were hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Square will likely be in a position to offer these business customers even more value going forward. It plans to introduce business checking and savings accounts, according to a recent Bloomberg report. This move isn't surprising, as Square hasn't made a secret of its desire to transition into banking services.

The company's biggest growth driver, though, is its Cash App ecosystem. Cash App currently supports a wide range of features, including peer-to-peer payments, a credit card, and buying and selling stocks and Bitcoin.

Probably the biggest knock against Square is its valuation. The stock trades at more than 150 times expected earnings. That valuation is still more attractive than AMC's, though. More importantly, the shift to a cashless society seems unstoppable. Square's growth prospects for both its seller and Cash App ecosystems make a premium price worth paying.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Robinhood Stocks That Could Make You a Lot Richer Than AMC Will
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Robinhood Stocks That Could Make You a Lot Richer Than AMC Will\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-07 15:55 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
There's a good reason why AMC Entertainment ranks as the third most popular stock for Robinhood investors. The social media giant's number of monthly active users has continued to climb, topping 2.85 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, the number of frequent moviegoers -- AMC's prime customers -- was slipping in 2019 before anyone had ever heard of COVID-19.Facebook is working hard to build a trillion-dollar empire. One key component of this effort is to continue attracting users to its social media platforms so that it can sell more ads. However, the company isn't just focused on social media. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted three areas in Facebook's Q1 update that could be massive growth drivers in the future -- augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), commerce, and the \"creator economy.\"The company is already a leader in VR with its Oculus devices. Facebook and Ray-Ban have first-generation AR smart glasses on the way. It's also developing new devices including haptic gloves plus a virtual world called Horizon. Zuckerberg thinks that AR and VR will \"unlock a massive amount of value\" over time.As for e-commerce, more than 1 billion people already visit Facebook Marketplace each month. Facebook recently launched Shops, an online storefront platform that has more than 250 million monthly visitors. The company is also developing a platform and tools that support the creator economy, including options for content creators to monetize their offerings.ModernaModerna (NASDAQ:MRNA) stands as one of the key reasons why AMC could see its fortunes improve in 2021. The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna has been given to millions of Americans and remains one of only three vaccines to secure U.S. Emergency Use Authorization so far.As of its Q1 update in early May, Moderna had advanced purchase agreements in place for its COVID-19 vaccine totaling more than $19 billion. Since then, the company has picked up additional supply deals.Moderna seems likely to make even more money next year than it will in 2021. Beyond 2022, the company anticipates that emerging coronavirus variants will result in the need for annual vaccinations. But is all of this growth already priced into the biotech stock? Nope. Moderna's shares currently trade at only nine times expected earnings. With plenty of other pipeline candidates based on its messenger RNA technology potentially on the way, Moderna could easily make investors who hold on for the long run much richer.SquareLike AMC, Square (NYSE:SQ) should directly benefit from the reopening of the U.S. economy. The company's seller ecosystem serves many small and medium-sized businesses that were hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.Square will likely be in a position to offer these business customers even more value going forward. It plans to introduce business checking and savings accounts, according to a recent Bloomberg report. This move isn't surprising, as Square hasn't made a secret of its desire to transition into banking services. The company's biggest growth driver, though, is its Cash App ecosystem. Cash App currently supports a wide range of features, including peer-to-peer payments, a credit card, and buying and selling stocks and Bitcoin.Probably the biggest knock against Square is its valuation. The stock trades at more than 150 times expected earnings. That valuation is still more attractive than AMC's, though. More importantly, the shift to a cashless society seems unstoppable. Square's growth prospects for both its seller and Cash App ecosystems make a premium price worth paying.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":614,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":136511292,"gmtCreate":1622027516216,"gmtModify":1704178082736,"author":{"id":"3564620605022995","authorId":"3564620605022995","name":"爱输钱的狗","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a3787c355e8f6dbf9fd978669006e71a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Comment like","listText":"Comment like","text":"Comment like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":10,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/136511292","repostId":"2138114580","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2138114580","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1622026500,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2138114580?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-26 18:55","market":"us","language":"en","title":"S&P 500 has room to run, but inflation fears to dampen sentiment","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2138114580","media":"Reuters","summary":"NEW YORK, May 25 (Reuters) - The S&P 500 will end the year only about 2.5% above its current level, ","content":"
NEW YORK, May 25 (Reuters) - The S&P 500 will end the year only about 2.5% above its current level, with concerns over increasing inflationary risks likely to temper some of the enthusiasm for U.S. stocks this year, according to a Reuters poll of strategists.

The benchmark S&P 500 is already up nearly 12% since the end of 2020, boosted by upbeat prospects for the economy and earnings following economic stimulus and strong distribution of coronavirus vaccines.

By the end of 2021, the index will be at 4,300, a 2.5% gain from its close Monday of 4,197, according to the median forecast of 46 strategists polled by Reuters over the last two weeks.

That forecast is higher than 4,100 in the February Reuters poll, and strategists cited stronger-than-expected earnings so far this year as among reasons for bumping up 2021 forecasts.

Based on the poll, the Dow Jones industrial average will finish this year at 35,500, up about 3.2% from Monday's close.

\"There's still some fuel left in the tank\" for the stock market, said Sameer Samana, senior global market strategist at Wells Fargo Investment Institute in St. Louis.

\"A lot of folks are still coming to grips with the fact that the earnings outlook will be a lot better than was expected even as recently as a few months ago.\"

Wall Street analysts now expect S&P 500 earnings to grow 35.6% in 2021, compared with a forecast of 23.3% growth at the start of the year, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.

Also, even with concerns surrounding inflation, the Fed is likely to remain accommodative \"for some time,\" Samana said. It would mark the worst intraday sell-off in U.S. history at the time, a record that would stand until 1929.
\n
The Panic of 1893 was triggered in part by falling gold reserves in the U.S. Treasury. At the time, the U.S. was on the gold standard, meaning U.S. dollars could be redeemed for physical gold. When Treasury gold reserves dropped from $190 million in 1890 to $100 million by 1893, Americans grew concerned that the Treasury might run out of gold and began withdrawing bank notes and converting them to gold, placing extreme strain on the U.S. banking industry and credit markets.
\n
The May 5 sell-off was triggered in part by the bankruptcy of Nation Cordage the day before.General Electric CompanyGE 0.34%shares dropped 28% on the day from $80 to $58.
\n
Fortunately for investors, the Panic of 1893 didn’t last for long. Lizzie Borden was acquitted of the ax murders of her father and stepmother. A fresh, one-pound beef steak cost 10 cents.\nPanic Of 1893:On May 5, 1893, the Dow Jones Index dropped more than 24% from 39.90 to 30.02. It would mark the worst intraday sell-off in U.S. history at the time, a record that would stand until 1929.\nThe Panic of 1893 was triggered in part by falling gold reserves in the U.S. Treasury. At the time, the U.S. was on the gold standard, meaning U.S. dollars could be redeemed for physical gold. When Treasury gold reserves dropped from $190 million in 1890 to $100 million by 1893, Americans grew concerned that the Treasury might run out of gold and began withdrawing bank notes and converting them to gold, placing extreme strain on the U.S. banking industry and credit markets.\nThe May 5 sell-off was triggered in part by the bankruptcy of Nation Cordage the day before.General Electric CompanyGE 0.34%shares dropped 28% on the day from $80 to $58.\nFortunately for investors, the Panic of 1893 didn’t last for long. By the end of the day, the market nearly completely recovered its losses. GE, for example, closed the session at $78.50.\nThe Panic of 1893 would ravage the U.S. economy, triggering a severe four-year depression. As has been the case for most of the past year, Buffett was active in the financial sector, mostly reducing Berkshire Hathaway's positions in banks. At the company's annual investor day earlier this month, Buffett provided some explanation for all the stock selling he's done in that sector.
\n
\"I like banks generally,\" he said, \"I just didn't like the proportion we had compared to the possible risk if we got the bad results that so far we haven't gotten.\"
\n
Let's review the three big changes Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway made to their bank holdings in the first quarter.
\n
\n
1. All but eliminating Wells Fargo
\n
Everyone knew it was coming, but Buffett all but made it official last quarter, nearly eliminating his position in his onetime favorite bank, Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC). Berkshire Hathaway sold 51.7 million shares, dropping its stake to a mere 675,000 shares valued at $26.3 million.
\n
This essentially ends what was an epic run for the Oracle of Omaha and Wells Fargo. Buffett first purchased shares in the large U.S. bank in 1989, and by 1994, he had acquired more than 13% of its outstanding shares. At the end of the third quarter of 2019, before the pandemic, Buffett's stake, which had a rough original cost basis of just below $9 billion, was worth close to $20 billion. And at one point back in 2017, it was reportedly worth as much as $29 billion.
\n
But as the fallout of Wells Fargo's phony accounts scandal and other revelations about its consumer abuses continued to play out, Buffett began to lose faith in the institution and started trimming his position. It looks like Buffett ultimately ended up making much less on his Wells Fargo investment than he could have, considering he sold more than 323 million shares between the end of Q1 2020 and the end of Q1 2021. During that 12-month period, the bank's shares traded from a low of $21.45 to a high of $39.07. At the end of 2019, they traded north of $53.
\n
The stock closed at $45.73 on Thursday, and many investors still believe Wells Fargo is undervalued these days, trading at 135% tangible book value (equity minus intangible assets and goodwill). Bank valuations have shot up in recent months, and Wells Fargo in particular could see more tailwinds when the Federal Reserve lifts the $1.95 trillion asset cap that the bank has been operating under since 2018.
\n
2. Dumping Synchrony Financial
\n
Last quarter, Berkshire Hathaway also eliminated its entire stake in the consumer finance credit card company Synchrony Financial (NYSE:SYF), selling its 21.1 million shares. Synchrony uses what it calls a \"partner-centric\" business model under which it teams up with leading retailers and digital brands that promote Synchrony's credit cards. Consumers can get deals on specific purchases by opening Synchrony credit cards, which are often branded under a retailer's name.
\n
While I wouldn't say I saw this move coming, it doesn't entirely surprise me. Over the last year, Buffett has become even more selective about which banks he wants to own. He seems to be picking a winner or two in each banking industry subcategory -- for instance, he sold his stake in America's largest bank, JPMorgan Chase, and loaded up on America's second-largest bank, Bank of America.
\n
Considering that Buffett already has a huge position in American Express, and loves the brand, that is likely going to be his pick for a credit-card-focused holding. Berkshire Hathaway likely made a good profit on that Synchrony investment, though, considering that the stock hit its highest level ever during Q1.
\n
3. Trimming U.S. Bancorp again
\n
Berkshire Hathaway also sold about 1.45 million shares of U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB) in the first quarter -- but it still owns nearly 129.7 million shares. The Oracle of Omaha has sold small quantities of shares of the Minnesota-based regional bank a few times over the last year, and it's a bit unclear why. It does appear that he has made U.S. Bancorp his regional bank pick, though. He sold off his other regional bank holdings, including his stakes in PNC Financial Services Group and M&T Bank, in the fourth quarter of 2020.
\n
One possible explanation relates to Buffett's well-known desire to keep his stakes in those banks below 10%, so he can avoid the additional reporting requirements that a higher ownership level would trigger. At the end of the first quarter, Buffett owned about 8.7% of U.S. Bancorp's outstanding shares. So his stock sale may have simply been a move to prepare for the bank's planned share repurchases, which should accelerate later this year. Last quarter's adjustment should maintain Berkshire Hathaway's stake at a level comfortably under the 10% threshold, even after U.S. Bancorp's total share count is reduced.
\n
Overall, I still feel confident that Buffett plans to stick with U.S. Bancorp, although I will continue to watch his moves in upcoming quarters to see if he further reduces his stake in it.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Here Are the 3 Bank Moves Warren Buffett Has Made So Far in 2021
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nHere Are the 3 Bank Moves Warren Buffett Has Made So Far in 2021\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-05-21 23:36 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B) recently filed its 13F form for the first quarter of 2021, detailing what stock sales and purchases the conglomerate and the legendary investor in charge, ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"BRK.A":"伯克希尔","WFC":"富国银行","BRK.B":"伯克希尔B","USB":"美国合众银行","SYF":"Synchrony Financial"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/05/21/here-are-the-3-bank-moves-warren-buffett-has-made/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2137906121","content_text":"Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B) recently filed its 13F form for the first quarter of 2021, detailing what stock sales and purchases the conglomerate and the legendary investor in charge, Warren Buffett, made during the period. The S&P 500 declined 0.4% to 4,192.85 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 1% to 13,614.51.The benchmark S&P 500 sits about 1% from its all-time high reached earlier last month, but it has been stuck around these levels for about the last two weeks. The S&P 500 is up more than 11% this year so far.Merck and Dow Inc. were the two best performers in the 30-stock benchmark, both rising more than 2%. Consumer staples and utilities were the biggest gainers among 11 S&P 500 sectors, while consumer discretionary and tech weighed on the broader market, falling 1.2% and 0.9%, respectively.Shares of General Motors climbed nearly 6.4% after the company said it expects its results for the first half of 2021 to be “significantly better” than its prior guidance. On the data front, private job growth for May accelerated at its fastest pace in nearly a year as companies hired nearly a million workers, according to a report Thursday from payroll processing firm ADP.Total hires came to 978,000 for the month, a big jump from April’s 654,000 and the largest gain since June 2020. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for 680,000.Meanwhile,first-time claims for unemployment benefitsfor the week ended May 29 totaled 385,000, versus a Dow Jones estimate of 393,000. It also marked the first time that jobless claims fell below 400,000 since the early days of the pandemic.“With ADP knocking it out of the park, and jobless claims breaking that 400k barrier—a pandemic low—all eyes will be on the larger jobs picture tomorrow,” said Mike Loewengart, a managing director at E-Trade. “With seemingly all systems go on the jobs front, the economy is flashing some very real signs that this isn’t just a comeback—expansion mode could be on the horizon.”The market may be on hold before the release of the jobs report Friday, which is likely to show an additional 671,000 nonfarm payrolls in May, according to economists polled by Dow Jones. The economy added 266,000 jobs in April.Investors continued to monitor the wild action in meme stocks, particularly theater chain AMC Entertainment. The stock tumbled as much as 30% after practically doubling in the prior session, but shares cut losses after movie theater chain said it completed a stock offering launched just hours ago, raising $587 million. The stock ended the day about 18% lower.Other meme stocks also came under pressure Thursday. Bed Bath & Beyond fell more than 27%. The SoFi Social 50 ETF (SFYF), which tracks the top 50 most widely held U.S. listed stocks on SoFi’s retail brokerage platform, tumbled more than 6%.Reminiscent of what occurred earlier this year, retail traders rallying together on Reddit triggered a short squeeze in AMC earlier this week. On Wednesday, short-sellers betting against the stock lost $2.8 billion as the shares surged, according to S3 Partners. That brings their year-to-date losses to more than $5 billion, according to S3. Short sellers are forced to buy back the stock to cut their losses when it keeps rallying like this. The meme stock bubble in GameStop earlier this year weighed on the market a bit as investors worried it meant too much speculative activity was in the stock market. As losses in hedge funds betting against the stock mounted, worries increased about a pullback in risk-taking across Wall Street that could hit the overall market. AMC’s latest surge did not appear to be causing similar concerns so far. Here are company's financial statementsSlack tops Q1 expectations, ends quarter with 169,000 total paid customersLululemon first-quarter sales rise 88%, topping estimates, as store traffic reboundsCrowdStrike stock rises as earnings, outlook top Street viewDocuSign stock pops on earnings, outlook beat","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":70,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":131347144,"gmtCreate":1621831094888,"gmtModify":1704362973793,"author":{"id":"3564620605022995","authorId":"3564620605022995","name":"爱输钱的狗","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a3787c355e8f6dbf9fd978669006e71a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Comment like","listText":"Comment like","text":"Comment like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/131347144","repostId":"1101357540","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":78,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3572316669494636","authorId":"3572316669494636","name":"Boo2020","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b9140860aa799166f7ff2aef054c4197","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"content":"pls comment back","text":"pls comment back","html":"pls comment back"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198627817,"gmtCreate":1620956894439,"gmtModify":1704351095169,"author":{"id":"3564620605022995","authorId":"3564620605022995","name":"爱输钱的狗","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a3787c355e8f6dbf9fd978669006e71a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like comment","listText":"Like comment","text":"Like comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/198627817","repostId":"2135945620","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2135945620","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1620936034,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2135945620?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-14 04:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street closes higher in 'buy the dip' session","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2135945620","media":"Reuters","summary":"NEW YORK, May 13 - For leisure and travel stocks like Airbnb that got slammed by pandemic shutdowns, the lifting of Covid curbs means adjusting to a whole new world.

Some tastes people acquired last year as they looked for escapes from lockdown are proving durable, like traveling to national parks by RV. Others, such as boating, grew out of surges in wealth that the stock market rally provided. As the summer travel season heats up, Americans are making new choices in where they go, when they go, how they get there and who joins them.

\"The world is never going back to the way it was,\" said Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky on an earnings call in May. \"And that means that travel is never going back to the way it was either.\"

One major trend is travelers have become more flexible about when and where they go, especially as remote work allows people to blur when they are on and off the clock. Airbnb stock rose May 24, when the company updated booking features, including an option to search for listings without fixed dates or locations.

And consumers aren't the only ones changing their habits. While tourism-dependent destinations suffered last year, the less-packed streets also showed locals the benefits of quieter communities.

Residents and local officials in normally packed hot spots like Italy and Hawaii are considering limiting the number of tourists. Such a seismic change could make visiting these places prohibitively expensive for many people. If the mix of travelers tilts more heavily toward the wealthy, travel stocks will nudge further toward luxury.

Leisure, Travel Industry Stocks

Shares across the sector have rebounded from last year's pandemic lows. The stocks' recent chart action is mixed. But many travel stocks have outperformed the market the past week and could present buying opportunities for investors.

Airline stocks like American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines surged earlier this year on the Reddit stock short squeeze. Then they sold off because business and overseas travel remained weak. Since then, they've consolidated and are approaching buy points.

Cruise stocks like Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line are showing similar patterns.

Meanwhile, shares of boat makers MarineMax and Brunswick as well as RV makers Winnebago and Thor Industries need to regroup after some failed breakouts. They are no longer in buy zones but could form new bases if earnings and sales growth remain strong.

Hotel leader Marriott has been less volatile and is forming a base, though earnings and sales have yet to fully recover.

Airbnb stock has had a more difficult year. It surged after going public in December but began to slump in March as competition from Expedia rival Vrbo rental service reduced the availability of hosts. A mixed Q1 earnings report and the end of a post-IPO lockup period also weighed on Airbnb stock, which popped up 6% Thursday on higher volume but remained 35% off its 2021 high.

When Luxury Means More Privacy

Luxury travel, once the purview of only the ultrarich, may have won over those who might have had the means but not the need to travel lavishly. As travelers sought to avoid crowds during the pandemic, those with the means turned to options like private jets.

Arnie Weissman, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly, says the pandemic opened luxury travel to a wider customer base. \"Some people developed a taste for it, and it's likely to continue.\"

Kim-Marie Evans, who writes the blog \"Luxury Travel Moms\" and plans travel for high-net-worth clients, told IBD she booked a trip for a family to Anguilla.

They stayed in a four-bedroom villa at the Four Seasons. And rather than flying commercially, they used a private jet service.

Private jet bookings are at or near their pre-pandemic highs, according to Elite Traveler, citing industry tracker FlightAware's data.

In May, private jet company Wheels Up said membership jumped 58% in Q1 to nearly 10,000. And VistaJet, another leading private jet company, said membership climbed 29% from a year ago.

Private jet leasing company NetJets, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, says its flight volume dropped to as low as 10% of 2019 numbers at the start of the pandemic.

Now the company, which also offers fractional ownership of its jets, says it's operating at 85% of its 2019 volume. NetJets said in a statement that commercial airlines have reduced their schedules. Consumers also are prioritizing their health and safety, choosing the seclusion of a private jet over a packed jetliner.

Vacation Shift Favors These Travel Stocks

Hotel chains implemented stringent Covid-19 protocols to convince visitors their properties were clean and safe. Still, many travelers opted to rent private homes through Airbnb, where they could avoid mingling with strangers in hotel lobbies, Weismann says.

Travel trends favor Airbnb stock long term, though it currently is slumping. On May 27, analysts at RBC Capital Markets rated shares at outperform, citing secular tailwinds that have yet to be fully appreciated by the market such as its dominant customer engagement.

The pandemic also shed light on the market potential of travel stocks like Marriott, which operates home-rental service Homes & Villas by Marriott International, catering to ultra premium short- and long-term stays, CFRA Research analyst Tuna Amobi says.

The Homes & Villas platform, which offers professionally managed private homes, had around 2,000 units at launch less than two years ago. Today, it lists nearly 25,000 properties.

\"They're where we don't have hotels, and many of them are in more remote locations, which really was quite attractive during Covid,\" said Marriott International President Stephanie Linnartz in a recent call with investors.

Airbnb also finds that customers are visiting smaller cities, towns and rural communities — not the same 20-30 cities that were most popular pre-pandemic. People are traveling outside the peak seasons and staying longer.

\"There is a mass shift from mass travel to meaningful travel,\" CEO Chesky said.

Seaworthy Travel Stocks

Luxury cruising should also come back with a bang. Nearly every cruise line's around-the-world luxury voyage is fully booked two years in advance.

One cruise line, Silversea, said its 139-day around-the-world cruise sold out in a single day. The Monaco-based cruise line is owned by Royal Caribbean. The cruise costs between $74,000 and $278,000 per guest, based on double occupancy. That compares with typical fares that start at $15,000-$20,000.

But others heading out to sea want to avoid crowded ships, which have seen outbreaks of coronavirus and other infections. The National Marine Manufacturers Association says new powerboat sales surged 34% in February compared to the same time period last year.

\"Inventory levels of new boats are the leanest they've ever been, and boats are being sold as soon as they hit the marketplace as manufacturers work to fulfill the backlog of orders,\" said Vicky Yu, senior director of business intelligence for NMMA. \"While new boat sales slowed in early 2021 following record sales last year, we are still seeing elevated levels as more Americans seek out boating as a way to spend quality time with loved ones.\"

The trend has pushed up leisure and travel stocks like boat retailers MarineMax and Brunswick as well as sport boat maker Malibu Boats.

\"It's really turning out to be a great alternative for people to stay close to home and with their family and friends and enjoy the boating lifestyle,\" MarineMax CFO Michael McLamb said in a conference call after reporting earnings April 22.

Travel Stocks For Being Alone Together

The desire to spend more time with friends and family is also spurring RV sales. They exploded in popularity during the pandemic, and sales data this year show demand remains high.

\"The rediscovery of America will continue this summer,\" Weissman said.

The pandemic accelerated long-term trends favoring the outdoors, Winnebago CEO Michael Happe said in a March earnings call. That includes power sports, boating and RVs.

Consumer priorities have changed, he added, toward a desire to invest in experiences vs. possessions.

\"We also believe the time (spent) recently with family and friends has reinforced that they'd like to do more of that in the future,\" Happe said. \"And families and individuals will be reevaluating how they spend their leisure time going forward.\"

Airbnb pointed to another sign of this trend among leisure and travel stocks. Instead of booking studio apartments in cities, more customers are booking entire homes with more bedrooms. As a result, the number of guests per reservation has increased.

Work-Life Rebalance

As people pay closer attention to their well-being post-Covid, another trend to watch is high-end wellness tourism with a focus on fitness, rejuvenation and health, Weissman says. That includes yoga and spa getaways as well as packages that offer cycling and hiking activities.

Meanwhile, the work-from-home shift allowed people to rethink other aspects of their lifestyle. In particular, they can try to balance work, leisure and travel differently.

Wedbush analyst James Hardiman says \"2020 was proof of concept that people can be productive, even more productive, while working remotely.\"

Airbnb says the share of bookings longer than 28 days jumped to 24% in Q1 from 14% in 2019. The company doesn't consider this travel.

\"People are not just traveling on Airbnb,\" Chesky said. \"They're now living on Airbnb.\"

Future Of Business Travel?

That also has implications for business travel, which is the most lucrative segment for travel stocks like airlines.

Experts say fewer workers may fly for one-day intracompany meetings. However, more crucial business will still require people to fly for in-person meetings.

When it's time to show up in person, Airbnb expects workers will travel together more often. That trend also has ramifications for Airbnb stock and others. Employees who work in different cities might stay in one house when they visit headquarters. They could share meals together at the kitchen table in the morning or evening.

That may be a welcome change for road warriors, who pop in an out of cities and squeeze in sightseeing along the way.

\"They don't miss business travel,\" Chesky said. \"They don't miss standing in line in front of a museum or a landmark … getting a photo with a selfie stick.\"
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
The Pandemic May Have Changed Vacations – And Travel Stocks Like Airbnb, Marriott, Winnebago – Forever
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThe Pandemic May Have Changed Vacations – And Travel Stocks Like Airbnb, Marriott, Winnebago – Forever\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Investors
\n
2021-05-28 23:30
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
Your next vacation will likely be more private, luxurious or family oriented than your trips in the past, and business trips may never be the same. For leisure and travel stocks like Airbnb that got slammed by pandemic shutdowns, the lifting of Covid curbs means adjusting to a whole new world. Some tastes people acquired last year as they looked for escapes from lockdown are proving durable, like traveling to national parks by RV. Others, such as boating, grew out of surges in wealth that the stock market rally provided. As the summer travel season heats up, Americans are making new choices in where they go, when they go, how they get there and who joins them.\"The world is never going back to the way it was,\" said Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky on an earnings call in May. \"And that means that travel is never going back to the way it was either.\"One major trend is travelers have become more flexible about when and where they go, especially as remote work allows people to blur when they are on and off the clock. Airbnb stock rose May 24, when the company updated booking features, including an option to search for listings without fixed dates or locations. And consumers aren't the only ones changing their habits. While tourism-dependent destinations suffered last year, the less-packed streets also showed locals the benefits of quieter communities.Residents and local officials in normally packed hot spots like Italy and Hawaii are considering limiting the number of tourists. Such a seismic change could make visiting these places prohibitively expensive for many people. If the mix of travelers tilts more heavily toward the wealthy, travel stocks will nudge further toward luxury.Leisure, Travel Industry StocksShares across the sector have rebounded from last year's pandemic lows. The stocks' recent chart action is mixed. But many travel stocks have outperformed the market the past week and could present buying opportunities for investors.Airline stocks like American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines surged earlier this year on the Reddit stock short squeeze. Then they sold off because business and overseas travel remained weak. Since then, they've consolidated and are approaching buy points.Cruise stocks like Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line are showing similar patterns.Meanwhile, shares of boat makers MarineMax and Brunswick as well as RV makers Winnebago and Thor Industries need to regroup after some failed breakouts. They are no longer in buy zones but could form new bases if earnings and sales growth remain strong.Hotel leader Marriott has been less volatile and is forming a base, though earnings and sales have yet to fully recover.Airbnb stock has had a more difficult year. When Luxury Means More PrivacyLuxury travel, once the purview of only the ultrarich, may have won over those who might have had the means but not the need to travel lavishly. As travelers sought to avoid crowds during the pandemic, those with the means turned to options like private jets.Arnie Weissman, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly, says the pandemic opened luxury travel to a wider customer base. \"Some people developed a taste for it, and it's likely to continue.\"Kim-Marie Evans, who writes the blog \"Luxury Travel Moms\" and plans travel for high-net-worth clients, told IBD she booked a trip for a family to Anguilla. They stayed in a four-bedroom villa at the Four Seasons. And rather than flying commercially, they used a private jet service.Private jet bookings are at or near their pre-pandemic highs, according to Elite Traveler, citing industry tracker FlightAware's data.In May, private jet company Wheels Up said membership jumped 58% in Q1 to nearly 10,000. And VistaJet, another leading private jet company, said membership climbed 29% from a year ago.Private jet leasing company NetJets, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, says its flight volume dropped to as low as 10% of 2019 numbers at the start of the pandemic. Now the company, which also offers fractional ownership of its jets, says it's operating at 85% of its 2019 volume. NetJets said in a statement that commercial airlines have reduced their schedules. Consumers also are prioritizing their health and safety, choosing the seclusion of a private jet over a packed jetliner.Vacation Shift Favors These Travel StocksHotel chains implemented stringent Covid-19 protocols to convince visitors their properties were clean and safe. Still, many travelers opted to rent private homes through Airbnb, where they could avoid mingling with strangers in hotel lobbies, Weismann says.Travel trends favor Airbnb stock long term, though it currently is slumping. Today, it lists nearly 25,000 properties.\"They're where we don't have hotels, and many of them are in more remote locations, which really was quite attractive during Covid,\" said Marriott International President Stephanie Linnartz in a recent call with investors.Airbnb also finds that customers are visiting smaller cities, towns and rural communities — not the same 20-30 cities that were most popular pre-pandemic. People are traveling outside the peak seasons and staying longer.\"There is a mass shift from mass travel to meaningful travel,\" CEO Chesky said.Seaworthy Travel Stocks Luxury cruising should also come back with a bang. That compares with typical fares that start at $15,000-$20,000.But others heading out to sea want to avoid crowded ships, which have seen outbreaks of coronavirus and other infections. The National Marine Manufacturers Association says new powerboat sales surged 34% in February compared to the same time period last year.\"Inventory levels of new boats are the leanest they've ever been, and boats are being sold as soon as they hit the marketplace as manufacturers work to fulfill the backlog of orders,\" said Vicky Yu, senior director of business intelligence for NMMA. \"While new boat sales slowed in early 2021 following record sales last year, we are still seeing elevated levels as more Americans seek out boating as a way to spend quality time with loved ones.\"The trend has pushed up leisure and travel stocks like boat retailers MarineMax and Brunswick as well as sport boat maker Malibu Boats.\"It's really turning out to be a great alternative for people to stay close to home and with their family and friends and enjoy the boating lifestyle,\" MarineMax CFO Michael McLamb said in a conference call after reporting earnings April 22.Travel Stocks For Being Alone TogetherThe desire to spend more time with friends and family is also spurring RV sales. They exploded in popularity during the pandemic, and sales data this year show demand remains high.\"The rediscovery of America will continue this summer,\" Weissman said. The pandemic accelerated long-term trends favoring the outdoors, Winnebago CEO Michael Happe said in a March earnings call. That includes power sports, boating and RVs.Consumer priorities have changed, he added, toward a desire to invest in experiences vs. possessions.\"We also believe the time (spent) recently with family and friends has reinforced that they'd like to do more of that in the future,\" Happe said. \"And families and individuals will be reevaluating how they spend their leisure time going forward.\"Airbnb pointed to another sign of this trend among leisure and travel stocks. Instead of booking studio apartments in cities, more customers are booking entire homes with more bedrooms. As a result, the number of guests per reservation has increased.Work-Life RebalanceAs people pay closer attention to their well-being post-Covid, another trend to watch is high-end wellness tourism with a focus on fitness, rejuvenation and health, Weissman says. That includes yoga and spa getaways as well as packages that offer cycling and hiking activities.Meanwhile, the work-from-home shift allowed people to rethink other aspects of their lifestyle. In particular, they can try to balance work, leisure and travel differently.Wedbush analyst James Hardiman says \"2020 was proof of concept that people can be productive, even more productive, while working remotely.\"Airbnb says the share of bookings longer than 28 days jumped to 24% in Q1 from 14% in 2019. The company doesn't consider this travel.\"People are not just traveling on Airbnb,\" Chesky said. \"They're now living on Airbnb.\"Future Of Business Travel? That also has implications for business travel, which is the most lucrative segment for travel stocks like airlines.Experts say fewer workers may fly for one-day intracompany meetings. That may be a welcome change for road warriors, who pop in an out of cities and squeeze in sightseeing along the way.\"They don't miss business travel,\" Chesky said. \"They don't miss standing in line in front of a museum or a landmark … getting a photo with a selfie stick.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":214,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":100009376,"gmtCreate":1619567897195,"gmtModify":1704725972339,"author":{"id":"3564620605022995","authorId":"3564620605022995","name":"爱输钱的狗","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a3787c355e8f6dbf9fd978669006e71a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like comment","listText":"Like comment","text":"Like comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/100009376","repostId":"1124091974","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1124091974","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1619567579,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1124091974?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-28 07:52","market":"us","language":"en","title":"S&P 500 closes flat near a record high ahead","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1124091974","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"The S&P 500 closed little changed near its record level on Tuesday as investors braced for a big bat","content":"
The S&P 500 closed little changed near its record level on Tuesday as investors braced for a big batch of tech earnings.

The broad equity benchmark ended the day less than 0.1% lower at 4,186.72 after hitting a record high in the previous session. The central bank is not expected to take any action, but economists expect it to defend its policy to let inflation run hot.The latest CNBC Fed Survey sees the central bank staying on hold and keeping its asset-buying program in place at the same levels for the rest of 2021, despite growing concerns about an overheating economy.Big Tech earningsMicrosoft sales grow on cloud strength, shares dip on heightened valuationGoogle Shares Rise On Revenue And Earnings Beat, $50B BuybackAMD stock rises after earnings show data-center sales more than doublingPinterest shares sink as easing of pandemic restrictions weighs on user growthTexas Instruments Surpasses Q1 Earnings and Revenue EstimatesStarbucks sales miss estimates, shares drop despite rosier forecastVisa stock gains after earnings beat, return to growth for credit transactionsIllumina Q1 EPS $1.89 Beats $1.38 Estimate, Sales $1.09B Beat $995.85M Estimate","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":47,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":348741891,"gmtCreate":1617967719013,"gmtModify":1704705425542,"author":{"id":"3564620605022995","authorId":"3564620605022995","name":"爱输钱的狗","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a3787c355e8f6dbf9fd978669006e71a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/348741891","repostId":"1168300924","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1168300924","pubTimestamp":1617955250,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1168300924?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-09 16:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Next Week’s IPO Lineup Is Growing.
