In his report, he reiterated the firm’s overweight rating while also increasing the price target to $91. The previous price target MS had for the stock was $86.
\n
So what has Byrd taking such a bullish stance on RUN stock? First off, he believes that there’s massive potential for the growth of the company. That centers on the adoption of solar panels to power homes. Currently, only 3% of homes in the U.S. are equipped with solar panels.
\n
It’s not just the potential of solar homes that has the Morgan Stanley analyst taking this stance on RUN stock. But in one trial the drug showed no alleviation of cognitive decline, and in the other it showed a minor effect on such decline that barely exceeded that produced by a placebo, the New Yorker reported.
\n
Biogen initially scrapped the trials but later revisited them and found encouraging results, in part due to the inclusion of patients who finished the trial in the period after it had been abandoned.
\n
\"The data set itself was pretty controversial,\" Ricks says. \"This happens in medical research, where the gold standard for approval is you call your shot, and then you hit your shot, like Babe Ruth pointing at the left field and then hitting his home run there.\"
\n
\"Here, something different happened, and this happens pretty frequently in medical development,\" he adds. \"Where they call their shot, and then they ended up stopping a study and then looking back and seeing something more encouraging.\"
\n
\"That's not a normal process,\" he says. \"And having worked ourselves in Alzheimers for the last 34 years, and we've had lots of failures, too. And on look back, sometimes you become encouraged. But really, it's important that I think drug companies generate very solid evidence for the use of our products.\"
\n
The approval marks a newfound willingness from the FDA to give the go-ahead for Alzheimer's drugs that address biological signs of the disease even if they don't show efficacy treating the underlying disease itself, Ricks said.
\n
\"The FDA actually in the end did not say that those results were solid evidence, what they said was that the drug moves what's known as a biomarker or a precursor to the disease in a very meaningful way, which I think is without dispute,\" Ricks says.
\n
\"But then [the FDA] said that that biomarker or precursor is enough for approval, so in a way sort of shifting the bar or the policy for Alzheimer's approvals,\" he adds.
\n
'There are huge unmet needs'
\n
Biogen's drug is delivered through multiple intravenous injections, likely requiring visits with a physician. For his part, Biogen CEO Michel Vounatsos celebrated the approval and expressed confidence that the drug will help Alzheimer's patients.
\n
\"We believe this first-in-class medicine will transform the treatment of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and spark continuous innovation in the years to come,\" he told USA Today. \"We are grateful for the contributions of thousands of patients and caregivers who participated in our clinical trials, as well as for the dedication of our scientists and researchers.\"
\n
The backlash against the approval escalated last week with the resignation of three scientists who served on a committee that advised the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the treatment. One of the scientists, Harvard Medical School professor Aaron Kesselheim, told The New York Times it \"might be the worst approval decision that the F.D.A. has made that I can remember.\"
\n
Speaking to Yahoo Finance, Ricks said the approval does offer some hope for over 6 million people living with Alzheimer's, and will incentivize other companies to pursue therapies for the disease.
\n
\"We know there are huge unmet needs,\" Ricks says. \"So in some sense, that's a hope for patients.\"
\n
\"I think it will also unleash a lot of investment from companies to prove the same thing with other drugs because it is an easier task,\" he adds.
","source":"yahoofinance","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; But in one trial the drug showed no alleviation of cognitive decline, and in the other it showed a minor effect on such decline that barely exceeded that produced by a placebo, the New Yorker reported.\nBiogen initially scrapped the trials but later revisited them and found encouraging results, in part due to the inclusion of patients who finished the trial in the period after it had been abandoned.\n\"The data set itself was pretty controversial,\" Ricks says. \"This happens in medical research, where the gold standard for approval is you call your shot, and then you hit your shot, like Babe Ruth pointing at the left field and then hitting his home run there.\"\n\"Here, something different happened, and this happens pretty frequently in medical development,\" he adds. \"Where they call their shot, and then they ended up stopping a study and then looking back and seeing something more encouraging.\"\n\"That's not a normal process,\" he says. \"And having worked ourselves in Alzheimers for the last 34 years, and we've had lots of failures, too. And on look back, sometimes you become encouraged. But really, it's important that I think drug companies generate very solid evidence for the use of our products.\"\nThe approval marks a newfound willingness from the FDA to give the go-ahead for Alzheimer's drugs that address biological signs of the disease even if they don't show efficacy treating the underlying disease itself, Ricks said.\n\"The FDA actually in the end did not say that those results were solid evidence, what they said was that the drug moves what's known as a biomarker or a precursor to the disease in a very meaningful way, which I think is without dispute,\" Ricks says.\n\"But then [the FDA] said that that biomarker or precursor is enough for approval, so in a way sort of shifting the bar or the policy for Alzheimer's approvals,\" he adds.\n'There are huge unmet needs'\nBiogen's drug is delivered through multiple intravenous injections, likely requiring visits with a physician. For his part, Biogen CEO Michel Vounatsos celebrated the approval and expressed confidence that the drug will help Alzheimer's patients.\n\"We believe this first-in-class medicine will transform the treatment of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and spark continuous innovation in the years to come,\" he told USA Today. \"We are grateful for the contributions of thousands of patients and caregivers who participated in our clinical trials, as well as for the dedication of our scientists and researchers.\"\nThe backlash against the approval escalated last week with the resignation of three scientists who served on a committee that advised the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the treatment. One of the scientists, Harvard Medical School professor Aaron Kesselheim, told The New York Times it \"might be the worst approval decision that the F.D.A. has made that I can remember.\"\nSpeaking to Yahoo Finance, Ricks said the approval does offer some hope for over 6 million people living with Alzheimer's, and will incentivize other companies to pursue therapies for the disease.\n\"We know there are huge unmet needs,\" Ricks says. \"So in some sense, that's a hope for patients.\"\n\"I think it will also unleash a lot of investment from companies to prove the same thing with other drugs because it is an easier task,\" he adds.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":369,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":163860401,"gmtCreate":1623870446403,"gmtModify":1703822072017,"author":{"id":"3565253685310367","authorId":"3565253685310367","name":"Xxiiaode","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49227d36a02c46c13f9d970f14f5c92c","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3565253685310367","authorIdStr":"3565253685310367"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Skzk","listText":"Skzk","text":"Skzk","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/163860401","repostId":"1137784542","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1137784542","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623856057,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1137784542?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-16 23:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Buy Coinbase on the dip for a long-term opportunity on the crypto economy, Canaccord says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1137784542","media":"cnbc","summary":"Coinbase’s price may fluctuate alongside the value of bitcoin in the short-term, but Canaccord is be","content":"
\n
Coinbase’s price may fluctuate alongside the value of bitcoin in the short-term, but Canaccord is betting on the future of blockchain technology and initiating coverage of the crypto exchange as a buy...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Bitcoin is currently trading around $39,000 following a rollercoaster month of trading after itsprice drop almost a month ago.\nCoinbase’s revenue is largely driven by trading fees, 81% of which come from retail trading and 5% from institutional trading, according to Canaccord. It has the highest trading fees across crypto exchanges, the bank found.\nStill, Canaccord said it’s confident Coinbase’s business will ultimately expand beyond retail trading and into emerging opportunities for the blockchain – which could include supporting new protocols beyond bitcoin and Ethereum, decentralized finance and cloud solutions – and that crypto exchange will be a “super on-ramp” into that new world.\nCanaccord set its one-year price target on the stock at $285, which is 12 times its 2022 enterprise value-to-sales estimate.Enterprise value-to-salesis a ratio that measures a firm’s value versus its sales revenue.\n“Market share and technology leaders that leverage their positions to drive innovation via creating new customer behaviors present some of most compelling, long-term value propositions in the market,” the bank said. “Although we will see ongoing volatility, we don’t think that comparing the longer-term potential of the blockchain and digital assets to what we have seen in ecommerce is off the mark.”\nThe analysts noted that Coinbase shares are likely to see headwinds in the short term, based on crypto spot price volatility so far in June.\n“If we are in a bitcoin holding pattern here for a while, COIN could likely see sequentially weaker financial performance,” they said.\nStill, “we remain biased to the upside on bitcoin medium term and believe that resilience and elegance in the blockchain provide a great foundation for the entirety of digital assets from here,” the analysts wrote.\nCanaccord’s analysts highlighted bitcoin’s increasingly vertical supply curve – that is, the fact that quantities are limited, regardless of how much investors are willing to pay – as well as institutional interest in digital assets, comparative valuation to other stores of value, and “importantly what we view as an inevitable U.S. ETF.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":495,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":370847146,"gmtCreate":1618577157685,"gmtModify":1704712968105,"author":{"id":"3565253685310367","authorId":"3565253685310367","name":"Xxiiaode","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49227d36a02c46c13f9d970f14f5c92c","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3565253685310367","authorIdStr":"3565253685310367"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lol ","listText":"Lol ","text":"Lol","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/370847146","repostId":"1162807718","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1162807718","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1618572612,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1162807718?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-16 19:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Musk, Palihapitiya Threw 'Jet Fuel' On GameStop Short Squeeze, David Einhorn Says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1162807718","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Hedge fund manager David Einhorn has blamed venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya and Tesla Inc. TSLA CEO Elon Musk for throwing \"jet fuel\" on the GameStop Corp.GME 0.14% trading frenzy in January this year, according to areportby Reuters. What Happened: Einhorn said he believes the GameStop short squeeze in January was fueled in large part by Palihapitiya and Musk, according to the report, which cited Einhorn’s comments in a quarterly letter to Greenlight Capital investors published Thursday. The Greenlight Capital founder said Palihapitiya may have had an incentive to harm popular trading platform Robinhood as it competes with fintech startup SoFi, which was backed by Palihapitiya.Further, Einhorn said that if regulators wanted Musk to stop manipulating stocks, “they should have done so with more than a light slap on the wrist when they accused him of manipulating Tesla’s shares in 2018.”Einhorn also said U.S. lawmakers should probe regulators instead of investors if they are looking for answers to how day traders were able to wrest control of GameStop's share price from established hedge funds. Why It Matters: Shares of video game retailer GameStop and other heavily-shorted stocks such asAMC Entertainment Holdings Inc.AMC 0.05%skyrocketed in January amid a rally fuelled by retail traders belonging to the subreddit channel r/WallStreetBets bid up the stocks to create a short squeeze.GameStop shares traded wildly in January in abattle between short sellers and retail traders. The wild price swings in the heavily-shorted stocks caused heavy losses for hedge fund Melvin Capital Management, among others.Billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya joined the trading frenzy in late January byannouncinghe had bought call options in GameStop with a strike price of $115. While it is hard to tell how much lower shares might go, investors who bought Apple on the dip have historically done well.
\n
At the start of Tuesday’s trading session, on February 23, Apple traded below $120 per share for the first time since November 2020 – i.e. a three-month low. POINTS\n\nMeltem Demirors of CoinShares told CNBC on Monday that the “best time to invest in bitcoin was yesterday.”\nHer comments came as bitcoin’s market value recently topped the $1 trillion mark, according to Coindesk.\nMeanwhile, NYU’s Aswath Damodaran argues that bitcoin is “an incredible show to watch” but not an investment.\n\nAs bitcoin continues on its upward trek in 2021, one analyst says the regulatory concerns surrounding the cryptocurrency won’t likely derail its momentum.\n“The regulatory issues have been around for a long time, we’ve been dispelling them for a long time. At this point, our belief is: Bitcoin is not a question of if, but when,” Meltem Demirors, chief strategy officer at digital asset investment firm CoinShares, said Monday.\n“We certainly believe, you know, the best time to invest in bitcoin was yesterday — the second best time to allocate is today,” she told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia.”\nHer comments came after bitcoin recently toppled another milestone, pushing past $1 trillion in market value last week, according to Coindesk.\nBitcoin has been on a tear since the start of 2021, and has risen more than 90% so far this year, according to data from Coin Metrics. Those strong gains have been attributed in part to increased adoption of bitcoin by major investors and companies, including Elon Musk’s Tesla and the Bank of New York Mellon.\nBitcoin last sat at $56,355.50 per coin as of 1:26 a.m. ET Monday.\nStill, Demirors warned that investors should not be allocating “significant portions of their balance sheet” to bitcoin.\n“Our research has found that in a traditional 60-40 portfolio, a 4% allocation to bitcoin balances the reward as well as the risk of drawdowns,” she said. The 60% stock and 40% bond portfolio is traditionally a popular allocation strategy designed to generate steady income while guarding against volatility.\nBitcoin a ‘failed currency’?\nAswath Damodaran from New York University was far more skeptical about investing in bitcoin.\n“This is an ... incredible show to watch. The country’s capital city Beijing recently handed out $1.5 million as part of a digital currency test during the Lunar New Year, following similar experiments in Shenzhen and Suzhou.\nChorzempa said one of the main reasons spurring the push for the digital yuan was the desire for a state backed and controlled alternative to incumbent giants such as the Alibaba-affiliated Alipay app and Tencent’sWechat Pay, which currently process about 95% of digital payments in China.\nUnlike most other major economies globally, mobile payments — largely through the Alipay app and Wechat Pay — has displaced cash in the last few years as the predominant form of consumer payment in China.\n″(The digital yuan) is something that’s really unprecedented among the major economies,” Chorzempa said. “China is ... by far the most advanced of any in digital currency and it’s exciting to watch.”\n‘Nothing like bitcoin or ethereum’\nTo be sure, Chorzempa said China’s digital yuan has very little in common with cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, known for its high price volatility.\n“I would say the safety levels (of the digital yuan are) very high and the risk is low,” he said. “It’s designed to have the same value as any regular renminbi, so there should be no price fluctuations to worry about.”\nIntermediaries that sell the digital currency in China are also expected to be “quite safe and carefully regulated” so long as they are sanctioned by the government, Chorzempa said.\n“I wouldn’t be too worried about the safety of a digital renminbi in a central bank regulated wallet,” he added.\nBeyond China, Sweden is expected to be among the first advanced economies to launch a digital currency, according to the PIIE researcher.\nSince Facebook first proposed launching the Libra cryptocurrency, now rebranded Diem, there has been a “huge wave of interest” among central banks that are concerned that a private tech company “might take over their currency” in a similar manner to how Alipay and WeChat pay dominate payments in China, he said.\n“I expect central bank digital currencies to continue to expand around the world,” Chorzempa in annual earnings, offering investors a stronger fundamental backdrop after stocks sank this week.
\n
Among the 1,200-odd firms listed in mainland China that issued preliminary results in January, 75% have said earnings rose last year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg as of Thursday. Firms in the communication services and health care sectors are set to report the biggest growth, followed by consumer staples and technology. Listed companies have until Sunday to announce significant changes in earnings.
\n
Evidence of China Inc.’s resilience to the slowest economic growth in four decades due to the coronavirus, capped by a stronger-than-expected fourth quarter, may offer relief to investors. The CSI 300 Index, which tracks the biggest firms in China, has dropped 4.4% the past three days from a 13-year high, raising worries that a near-term peak has been reached. That lost momentum came as the central bank withdraws liquidity and a central bank adviser warned of asset bubbles.
\n
“The stock rally we’ve seen this year has been obviously driven by liquidity -- now it needs fundamental reasons to be sustainable,” said Steven Leung, executive director at UOB Kay Hian (Hong Kong) Ltd. “The market needs the actual results to be even better than the estimates we’ve had so far to keep rallying.”
\n
China’s exchange operators require companies that are expected to record losses, to turn from losses to profit, or to see income rise by more than 50% to issue preliminary guidance by the end of January. There are more than 4,000 companies listed in the mainland overall, and most are scheduled to release official numbers in March. Among the forecasters, Sansure Biotech Inc. estimated profit soared as much as 7,257% last year while Hengtong Logistics Co. predicted earnings surged as much as 4,673% from 2019’s level.
\n
Forecasts have helped boost many Chinese stocks to start 2020. Bank shares jumped earlier this month after China Merchants Bank Co. and Industrial Bank Co. reported stronger-than-expected preliminary 2020 earnings. Muyuan Foods Co. also surged after its forecast on Tuesday.
\n
Companies’ estimates have been far rosier than what analysts have been expecting. According to Bloomberg data, 2020 profit among CSI 300 members are expected to have fallen an average 7.7%. Countries must build surveillance measures to find variants of concerns, and then scientists must agree upon at what point a variant has strayed too far from the unaltered virus and requires a new vaccine.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":32,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":360914880,"gmtCreate":1613809074540,"gmtModify":1704885272229,"author":{"id":"3565253685310367","authorId":"3565253685310367","name":"Xxiiaode","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49227d36a02c46c13f9d970f14f5c92c","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3565253685310367","authorIdStr":"3565253685310367"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hi hi ","listText":"Hi hi ","text":"Hi hi","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/360914880","repostId":"2112149478","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2112149478","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1613724786,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2112149478?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-02-19 16:53","market":"other","language":"en","title":"Dollar slips further after disappointing jobs data, sterling shines","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2112149478","media":"Reuters","summary":"LONDON, Feb 19 (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar slipped further on Friday and the euro rebounded after di","content":"
LONDON, Feb 19 (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar slipped further on Friday and the euro rebounded after disappointing U.S. data dented optimism for a speedy recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, while sterling edged towards the $1.40 mark.
\n
The U.S. currency had been rising as a jump in Treasury yields on the back of the so-called reflation trade encouraged investors back into the greenback.
\n
But an unexpected increase in U.S. weekly jobless claims soured the economic outlook and sent the dollar lower overnight.
\n
On Friday it traded down 0.1% against a basket of currencies, the dollar index now at 90.474.
\n
The string of soft labour data is weighing on the dollar even as other indicators have shown resilience, and as President Joe Biden's pandemic relief efforts take shape, including a proposed $1.9 trillion spending package.
\n
The euro rose 0.2% to $1.2113 . Now, many of these products — including certain Chromebook laptops and next-generation consoles like the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 — are sold out, or subject to lengthy shipping times. It’s just one of a number of factors that has driven demand for semiconductors, but as supply struggles to keep up, it’s the chip-reliant car industry that has been hit especially hard.“We have seen in the short term, the automotive industry has been very adversely affected,” Bryce Johnstone, director of automotive segment marketing at chip designer Imagination Technologies, told CNBC via email. “This stems from their just-in-time production methodology and their incredibly complicated supply chains.”Carmakers uses semiconductors in everything from power steering and brake sensors, to entertainment systems and parking cameras. The smarter cars get, the more chips they use.“If the chip that powers the in-car dials or automatic braking are delayed, then so will the rest of the vehicle,” said Johnstone.Closed car plantsU.S. car giant General Motorsannounced last Wednesdaythat it is shutting three plants and slowing production at a fourth due to the semiconductor shortage. The Detroit car manufacturer said it could miss its 2021 targets as a result.“Despite our mitigation efforts, the semiconductor shortage will impact GM production in 2021,” a company spokesman said in a statement.“Semiconductor supply for the global auto industry remains very fluid,” they added. “Our supply chain organization is working closely with our supply base to find solutions for our suppliers’ semiconductor requirements and to mitigate impacts on GM.”Several other car manufacturers have also put production on hold in recent weeks. Honda U.K.’s main plant in Swindon wasshut down for several dayslast month due to a chip shortage, for example. Elsewhere, Ford and Volkswagen have also shut plants or cut production while they wait for supplies to pick up.Ford said in January that it wasshutting a factory in Germany for a month, while Volkswagen said in December it willmake 100,000 fewer carsthis quarter as a result of the shortage.Speaking about the chip shortage on a Davos panel on Jan. 25, VW CEO Herbert Diess said: “We have to make sure that the markets and supply chains remain intact.”Swings in demand; long lead timesFalan Yinug, director of industry statistics and economic policy at the Semiconductor Industry Association, says the chip shortage in the automotive industry is largely the result of substantial swings in demand due to the pandemic and the increased use of semiconductors in advanced vehicles.“The events leading to the current auto chip shortage began during the second quarter of 2020, when automakers understandably reduced production and chip purchases as the virus spread across the globe,” Yinug wrote ina bloglast Thursday. At the same time, chipmakers saw a pickup in demand for semiconductors used to support remote healthcare, work-at-home, and virtual learning, which were required during the pandemic, according to Yinug.“In the months that followed, demand for automotive semiconductors rallied much more quickly than most anticipated,” Yinug said.“The clear decrease in monthly year-over-year (YoY) sales growth for application-specific chips used in the automotive market was sudden and precipitous in March and April, when the pandemic was shuttering auto plants globally. Equally as pronounced was the rapid recovery in YoY sales during Q3 and Q4 (third and fourth quarters). In fact, monthly YoY Q4 sales had recovered to be positive again.”The semiconductor industry has been trying to ramp up production but Yinug said the supply-demand imbalance cannot be remedied with the flip of a switch.“Making a semiconductor is one of the most complex manufacturing processes,” he said. “Lead times of up to 26 weeks are the norm in the industry to produce a finished chip. Most industry analysts believe the current short-term supply shortage will ease in the coming months as supply adjusts to meet demand.”Cost conscious industryHermann Hauser, the co-founder of British chip designer Arm, told CNBC that the automotive industry has been hurt the most because it is “incredibly cost conscious.”“When the chip industry decides should we allocate our capacity to the car industry or the telecoms industry or the server industry, it’s an easy decision,” he said. “Go for the server industry because their gross margins are so much better. That’s why the car industry is in a particularly tight spot.”Hauser said there isn’t enough competition in the semiconductor manufacturing market, pointing to the fact that it has a very high Herfindahl–Hirschman index, which measures market concentration in a specific industry. It is calculated by squaring the market share of each company competing in a market and then adding the resulting numbers. For example, chip manufacturers have battled it out to build the smallest chips possible over the years, but only a couple of companies can create the new five nanometer (or 5nm) chips on a commercial level.“Samsung and TSMC are the only two semiconductor companies in the world that have a working 5nm process,” he said. “It’s just too high a concentration.”One of the reasons there are so few 5nm chip manufacturing plants is because they’re expensive, according to Hauser. Building something so small requires hi-tech equipment that isn’t cheap.Expanding factoriesNewport Wafer Fab in South Wales, Britain’s largest chip factory, raised over £50 million($68 million) in January to try and cash in on the global semiconductor supply shortage. It said it would use the funding to almost double the number of chip wafers — thin slices of a semiconductor — it makes from 8,000 to 14,000, according to The Telegraph newspaper. The company did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.Newport Wafer Fab Chairman Drew Nelson reportedly said demand had “absolutely skyrocketed” in the last three months, fueled by both the global shortage and the rise of electric cars.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":53,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":361623902,"gmtCreate":1614230212506,"gmtModify":1704889907112,"author":{"id":"3565253685310367","authorId":"3565253685310367","name":"Xxiiaode","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49227d36a02c46c13f9d970f14f5c92c","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3565253685310367","authorIdStr":"3565253685310367"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Soannnnn","listText":"Soannnnn","text":"Soannnnn","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/361623902","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":197,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":387845056,"gmtCreate":1613740926275,"gmtModify":1704884400663,"author":{"id":"3565253685310367","authorId":"3565253685310367","name":"Xxiiaode","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49227d36a02c46c13f9d970f14f5c92c","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3565253685310367","authorIdStr":"3565253685310367"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hihihihihih","listText":"Hihihihihih","text":"Hihihihihih","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/387845056","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":617,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":384388047,"gmtCreate":1613614937389,"gmtModify":1704882734468,"author":{"id":"3565253685310367","authorId":"3565253685310367","name":"Xxiiaode","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49227d36a02c46c13f9d970f14f5c92c","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3565253685310367","authorIdStr":"3565253685310367"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Why","listText":"Why","text":"Why","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/384388047","repostId":"2112839094","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2112839094","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1613609164,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2112839094?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-02-18 08:46","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Warren Buffett's Berkshire Cuts Apple Stake And Buys These Drugmaker, Telecom Stocks Instead","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2112839094","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Berkshire Hathaway Inc (NYSE: BRK-A) (NYSE: BRK-B) cut its positions in Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) and","content":"

Berkshire Hathaway Inc (NYSE: BRK-A) (NYSE: BRK-B) cut its positions in Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) and piled on stocks of drug, telecom, and oil companies in the latest quarter, according to filings made with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

What Happened: The Warren Buffett-led company shed its Apple stake by 6% to 887 million shares in the quarter, but at the same time has upped its investments in AbbVie Inc (NYSE: ABBV) by 20%, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY) by 11%, and Merck & Co, Inc (NYSE: MRK) by 28%.

The conglomerate increased its exposure to T-Mobile US, Inc (NASDAQ: TMUS) by 1.36% to 5.2 million shares and also added 146.7 million shares of Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE: VZ).

Berkshire picked up a fresh stake of 48.5 million Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) shares and increased its investment in The Kroger Co (NYSE: KR) by 34%.

Other changes include a 59% cut in exposure to Wells Fargo & Co (NYSE: WFC) and a 28% cut in Suncor Energy Inc (NYSE: SU) stake.

Why It Matters: Apple is still the largest single investment in Berkshire’s portfolio, as of the latest 13F filing, and the investment is worth about $120 billion.

See Also: Warren Buffett Called Bitcoin 'Rat Poison' — Now It's Closing In On Berkshire Hathaway's Valuation

Apple shares closed nearly 1.6% lower at $133.19 on Tuesday and fell another 0.41% in the after-hours session.

In the after-hours trading on Tuesday — AbbVie shares were up 0.42% at $104.64. ValuAnalysis uses price as a multiple of normalized net free cash flow as its benchmark, and identifies the imaginary dividing line between value and growth stocks at 35x, which is the market median.
\n
The value vs. growth divide would suggest that a company trading at a 17x earnings multiple is undervalued. In reality, ValuAnalysis says it is likely a company that won't grow.
\n
In reality, a stock's value is based on the company's ability to grow free cash flow in an environment where the cost of capital is 5% to 6%. So if a company isn't outpacing that by improving revenue and margins, the multiple won't increase and the stock price is unlikely to rise.
\n
Stocks that are actually undervalued will trade between 25x and 35x free cash flow, Costantini says, outpacing the cost of capital but not breaking past the market median.
\n
To have potential, a company's accumulation of assets or revenue growth must outpace increases in global gross domestic product, and ideally show signs of accelerating. There must also be an increase in operational leverage through revenue or margins. A decrease in the risk premium, such as through advances in controlling carbon emissions, helps.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
