My current YTD result for this small account. I'm mainly a day trader. For this year, I'm testing out what I can achieve if I'm not too greedy. My profits are usually 1-3% for every trade. But of course I would hold a position longer if momentum is strong. I usually trade momentum/hype stocks for a particular day. No idea. Market goes where it wants to go. There is no point in analysing it..lol But of course a lower CPI can only fuel the optimism that a bull market is returning. It is quite difficult to justify more rate hikes based on recent CPI figures. However I think the FEDS may just raise interest rates by 0.25 for 1 last time.

Bitcoin has gained more than 20% since the filing was unveiled.</p><p>The SEC has denied previous spot bitcoin ETF proposals on the basis that they would be vulnerable to manipulation. Nasdaq said last week that it would address that concern by working with Coinbase, the largest U.S.-based crypto exchange, to police trading in the underlying bitcoin market. The CBOE this week proposed a similar surveillance arrangement.</p><p>That could actually be a problem, according to some lawyers who follow the industry. The SEC last month sued Coinbase, escalating SEC chair Gary Gensler&#39;s crackdown on the crypto industry. The SEC said Coinbase trades cryptocurrencies that qualify as securities and should be registered as a broker, exchange and clearinghouse and subject to the SEC&#39;s risk management and investor protection rules.</p><p>The SEC&#39;s allegations, which Coinbase denies, raised questions over its suitability as a partner for Nasdaq and CBOE.</p><p>&#34;I don&#39;t think it&#39;s necessarily a badge of honor to say that you&#39;re using an entity that the SEC is suing as providing you with critical investor protection services,&#34; said John Reed Stark, former chief of the SEC&#39;s Office of Internet Enforcement.</p><p>&#34;The whole point of the SEC&#39;s lawsuit is that there&#39;s no transparency into what Coinbase does&#34; as an exchange, he added.</p><p>Coinbase previously has said that as a listed company its business is subject to a slew of disclosure rules. And with roughly 56% of U.S. dollar bitcoin trading, according to Nasdaq&#39;s filing, Coinbase is integral to the U.S. bitcoin market.</p><p>Sui Chung, CEO of CF Benchmarks, said the industry is trying to meet the SEC&#39;s bar and is committed to the &#34;highest possible standards of market integrity and transparency.&#34; CF Benchmarks is the UK-regulated index provider for four proposed bitcoin ETFs, including BlackRock&#39;s.</p><p>Representatives for BlackRock, Nasdaq and CBOE declined to comment.</p><p>When asked by Reuters about the arrangement on Wednesday, Gensler did not comment on Coinbase specifically but reiterated previous comments that investors should not expect the same level of integrity and fairness on crypto exchanges as in the traditional equity markets.</p><p>Calculated Decision</p><p>Gensler has said bitcoin is one crypto token that is outside the SEC&#39;s jurisdiction, while the cryptocurrency is not subject to the Coinbase litigation. The ETF proposals are unrelated to the Coinbase litigation and should be treated separately, according to Joseph Silvia, a lawyer with law firm Dickinson Wright.</p><p>&#34;But ultimately it&#39;s going to be Gensler who&#39;s going to make the decision as to whether or not the litigation is going to affect the application,&#34; Silvia added.</p><p>Gensler has said the crypto industry is rife with fraud and that crypto companies like Coinbase made a &#34;calculated economic decision&#34; to flout SEC rules. Most crypto companies dispute the SEC&#39;s jurisdiction and contend that the rules are unclear.</p><p>All told, the SEC has 240 days after it accepts the bitcoin ETF filing applications to make a decision.</p><p>Chung said the industry would not spend the resources trying to meet the SEC&#39;s bar if it believed the decision ultimately hinged &#34;on the whim of one or two individuals that may be skeptical as to the merits of Bitcoin as an investment asset.&#34;</p><p>Still, some lawyers said it would likely come down to that.</p><p>&#34;The statements that Gensler has made don&#39;t give me any sense that he&#39;s going to be flexible,&#34; This means opportunistic investors have the chance to buy this innovative EV maker at a substantial discount to its all-time high.</p><p>Nio&#39;s innovation comes in two forms. The first is readily apparent: its introduction of new vehicles. For example, the company&#39;s ET7 and ET5 sedans offer up to 621 miles of range with the top battery option. These sedans are direct competitors to <b>Tesla</b>&#39;s flagship sedans, the Model S and Model 3, and provide superior range (again, with the battery upgrade). China is the world&#39;s leading auto market, which gives Nio a large runway with which to gobble up market share with its premium sedans and SUVs.</p><p>The other way Nio is innovating is with its service. In August 2020, the company introduced its battery-as-a-service (BaaS) subscription, which allows its EV buyers to charge, swap, or upgrade their batteries. Enrollment in BaaS also provides a discount on the purchase price of a Nio EV. Despite giving up some near-term sales with BaaS, Nio locks in long-term subscription revenue and the loyalty of its early buyers.</p><p>Based on Wall Street&#39;s fluid forecast, Nio is on track to quadruple its sales by 2024, as well as turn the corner to recurring profitability. By 2023, most of the company&#39;s supply chain issues should be in the rearview mirror. That makes it a good bet to turn deliver 400% returns for shareholders by 2030.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4d1c334ff649af837a64937769eca0be\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"467\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p><h2><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/UPST\">Upstart Holdings</a></h2><p>A second surefire stock that can deliver jaw-dropping sales and profit growth throughout the remainder of the decade is cloud-based lending platform <b>Upstart Holdings</b>.</p><p>The big knock against Upstart is that historically high inflation in the U.S. is coercing the nation&#39;s central bank to get aggressive with interest rate hikes. As a lending-based service, there&#39;s obvious concern that higher interest rates will dramatically slow loan-processing activity, which would be bad news for the company.</p><p>But Upstart has a few tricks up its sleeve. To begin with, its lending platform relies on artificial intelligence (AI). Whereas the traditional loan-vetting process can take weeks, approximately 70% of Upstart&#39;s loan applicants are fully automated and approved on the spot.  This helps save lending institutions time and money.</p><p>What&#39;s interesting is that Upstart&#39;s AI-powered lending platform is helping to democratize loan access without adversely impacting lending institutions. Even though the average credit score of Upstart&#39;s approvals is lower than the average credit score of traditional loan approvals, there&#39;s been no difference in delinquency rates. As interest rates rise and the sheer number of loan applications to process declines, it&#39;s likely we&#39;ll see banks turn to Upstart even more than they are now given the success of its AI-driven lending platform.</p><p>Something else investors should note is that Upstart has no credit exposure and generated 94% of its revenue from fees and services. This means if a recession does strike and loan delinquencies rise, Upstart doesn&#39;t have to set aside capital to cover loan losses.</p><p>Looking a bit further out, Upstart should also benefit from its push into AI-based auto lending. The auto loan origination market is over seven times larger than the personal loan market it&#39;s been focused on for years. It initially soared on big user gains, with people stuck in their homes during the initial stages of the pandemic. But since the end of March 2021, declines in monthly active user (MAU) figures have left Wall Street skeptical of Pinterest&#39;s future. To add, there&#39;s also concern that <b>Apple</b>&#39;s iOS privacy changes, which allow app users to turn off data tracking, could inhibit ad-driven businesses like Pinterest.</p><p>However, neither of these near-term headwinds should be fazing long-term investors. For example, even though Pinterest&#39;s total MAUs have declined from a peak of 478 million to 433 million over the past year, panning out four or five years shows a steady uptrend in total MAUs. In other words, the MAU decline in recent quarters is simply user growth retracing back to historic norms following the unsustainable pandemic-related boost.</p><p>Additionally, regardless of whether MAUs have increased or declined on a year-over-year basis, Pinterest hasn&#39;t had any trouble monetizing its user base. The latest quarter, which featured 45 million fewer MAUs than the same quarter last year, saw global average revenue per user (ARPU) climb 28%, with European ARPU up an even more impressive 40%.  This demonstrates that merchants are willing to pay a premium to reach Pinterest&#39;s user base. It also clearly suggests that international markets are where Pinterest&#39;s greatest opportunity lies.</p><p>Apple&#39;s iOS privacy changes aren&#39;t much to worry about, either. While other social media platforms have some guesswork to do in order to help advertisers target users, the entire premise of Pinterest&#39;s platform is for users to freely and willingly share the things, places, and services that interest them. India&#39;s fast-growing e-commerce market was already dominated by such players as Amazon.com Inc and Walmart’s Flipkart.</p><p>E-commerce players face a strict regulatory environment in India. New Delhi has for years imposed restrictions to protect smaller brick-and-mortar retailers.</p><p>Offline retailers have often alleged foreign companies bypass the regulations and offer deep discounts that hurt their business, allegations the companies deny.</p><p>Shopee had in recent months faced boycott calls from such traders in India. As of Monday, Shopee’s India website was still operational and said it offered “bumper discounts and attractive deals” to customers. Don’t get tricked by its latest move higher. In time, the latest surge will likely prove to be little more than a “dead cat bounce.”</p><p>Why AMC Stock Has Bounced Back</p><p>As I mentioned above, multiple factors are behind AMC’s jump from around $16 to more than $20 per share in recent days. First is the factor that has sparked the most headlines: the company announced that it plans to buy22% of<b>Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>HYMC</u></b>).</p><p>Secondly, the stock market has performed well since mid-March. The market’s resurgence kicked off following Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s latest remarks on the central bank’s rate-hike plans. Clearing up some of the uncertainty, the chairman’s statements have helped to lessen some of the investors’ pessimism towards the market. Unfortunately, both of these factors will only temporarily impact the price of AMC stock.</p><p>But there are important reasons to believe that the market has not yet bottomed. Specifically, we know for sure that further rate hikes are coming, and that the chances of a recession have risen.</p><p>If a recession is indeed in the cards, the relief rally will fade, and stocks will move lower. This will likely reverse AMC’s recent gains and quite possibly send it even lower, as a recession isn’t just bad for the stock, but for the company’s business as well.</p><p>AMC’s Business Continues to Flounder, and the Hycroft Deal Won’t Save the Day</p><p>A recession would undermine AMC stock in two ways. First, if an economic downturn does occur, the stock market will sink. And as we saw in the first 2.5 months of the year, when the stock market retreats, meme plays like AMC underperform.</p><p>Additionally, a recession will, of course, mean that the American economy is contracting. During the current economic expansion, robust consumer spending has helped AMC’s business partially recover from the pandemic. Yet with inflation at 40-year highs, consumer spending is already starting to slip,and an economic downturn would cause household spending to decline further.</p><p>Even worse for AMC, streaming’s popularity could increase further and take more market share from theaters, as more movie fans opt to save money by watching new flicks at home. The resulting impact on AMC’s performance will outweigh the limited gains that it will generate from its Hycroft investment.</p><p>Speaking of Hycroft, as another<i>InvestorPlace</i>columnist, Dana Blankenhorn, recently put it, all that glitters is not gold when it comes to this deal. While Hycroft, a junior miner, is sitting on a gold mine (both literally and figuratively), there’s a reason why HYMC stock is a small-cap penny stock.</p><p>It’s going to take far more cash than AMC’s investment or the proceeds from an at-the-market secondary offering for Hycroft to extract the tens of billions of dollars of hard-to-reach gold and silver that are supposed to be in its northern Nevada mine. A payoff from AMC’s investment in the miner is years away at best and will never arrive at worst.</p><p>The Takeaway From AMC’s Recent Rally</p><p>As I argued back in February, the fair value of AMC is less than $10. And that’s assuming that it continues to deliver results in -line with its Q4 earnings. An economic downturn will push the shares closer to their fair value and lower that fair value as belt-tightening among consumers will stymie its post-virus recovery.</p><p>So what should investors do with AMC stock after its latest surge? Those who own the shares should exploit the stock’s rally by selling them.
