That might seem strange, even for Musk. But it could also be savvy. “It’s brilliant,” Gary Black tells Barron’s. Former Wall Street analyst and executive Black has amassed 80,000 Twitter followers for his views on stocks, including Tesla, which he owns shares in. “We like the move,” adds Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, also a Tesla bull. He rates the stock a Buy, with a $1,000 price target. “While some will view it as letting competition in on Tesla’s supercharger moat, we disagree…”
\n
For all the competition between their makers, EVs account for less than 5% of all new cars sold in the U.S. The larger struggle remains between electric- and gasoline-powered vehicles. Anything Musk does to make buying electrics easier is good for Tesla. Besides, Tesla could make a lot of money by opening its network. Although Tesla didn’t respond to a question about potential pricing, charging won’t be free, and refusing to let others use the system would be like a gas station only servicing Fords. And charging eventually will be as ubiquitous as gas stations.
\n
Then there’s the free publicity and advertising. Opening up the charging network shows Tesla is interested in overall EV adoption and not just in selling its own vehicles. That’s positive for the brand. And it means that thousands of EV buyers will be pulling up to a Tesla logo, again and again.
\n
Investors brushed off the tweet. “While some will view it as letting competition in on Tesla’s supercharger moat, we disagree…”\nFor all the competition between their makers, EVs account for less than 5% of all new cars sold in the U.S. And charging eventually will be as ubiquitous as gas stations.\nThen there’s the free publicity and advertising. Opening up the charging network shows Tesla is interested in overall EV adoption and not just in selling its own vehicles. That’s positive for the brand. And it means that thousands of EV buyers will be pulling up to a Tesla logo, again and again.\nInvestors brushed off the tweet. Tesla closed at $643.38 Friday, basically flat on the week, with earnings ahead. That’s probably right. For now, charging-for-all will probably matter more at the margins.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":291,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":110652210,"gmtCreate":1622451668530,"gmtModify":1704184620809,"author":{"id":"3568021363249926","authorId":"3568021363249926","name":"GOGoAnZi","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568021363249926","authorIdStr":"3568021363249926"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$I want to travel pls.","listText":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$I want to travel pls.","text":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$I want to travel pls.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/110652210","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":124,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":359035994,"gmtCreate":1616299311518,"gmtModify":1704792733574,"author":{"id":"3568021363249926","authorId":"3568021363249926","name":"GOGoAnZi","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568021363249926","authorIdStr":"3568021363249926"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"All for the coins","listText":"All for the coins","text":"All for the coins","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/359035994","repostId":"1117450855","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1117450855","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1616166767,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1117450855?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-19 23:12","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Powell says Fed will keep supporting economy ‘for as long as it takes’","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1117450855","media":"marketwatch","summary":"Outlook is brightening, but recovery ‘far from complete,’ Fed chairman says in WSJ op-ed.Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Friday said that while the U.S. economic outlook is “brightening,” the recovery is “far from complete.”In an op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal,Powell recounted the moment last February when he realized that the coronavirus pandemic would sweep across the country.“The danger to the U.S. economy was grave. ValuAnalysis uses price as a multiple of normalized net free cash flow as its benchmark, and identifies the imaginary dividing line between value and growth stocks at 35x, which is the market median.
\n
The value vs. growth divide would suggest that a company trading at a 17x earnings multiple is undervalued. In reality, ValuAnalysis says it is likely a company that won't grow.
\n
In reality, a stock's value is based on the company's ability to grow free cash flow in an environment where the cost of capital is 5% to 6%. So if a company isn't outpacing that by improving revenue and margins, the multiple won't increase and the stock price is unlikely to rise.
\n
Stocks that are actually undervalued will trade between 25x and 35x free cash flow, Costantini says, outpacing the cost of capital but not breaking past the market median.
\n
To have potential, a company's accumulation of assets or revenue growth must outpace increases in global gross domestic product, and ideally show signs of accelerating. There must also be an increase in operational leverage through revenue or margins. A decrease in the risk premium, such as through advances in controlling carbon emissions, helps.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; At that level, strategists say it would be headed for 1.25%, which could launch another break higher. In late January, the yield, which moves opposite price, hit a trough of 1%.\n\nYields on the way up\nBond pros say yields are headed higher, and they are rising for several reasons.\nOne big factor is Covid fiscal stimulus, the $900 billion approved in December and the $1.9 trillion plan now making its way through Congress.\nBetter growth is expected because of the federal money, but that also results in more debt, and potentially inflation. That’s another reason for higher yields.\nEmanuel of BTIG said he would be concerned if the 10-year yield started to race higher. He expects it to reach 1.7% by the end of the year.\nHowever, if it moved too quickly, stocks could hit a rough spot. For instance, a danger zone would be about 1.34% if the 10-year yield were to reach that level as early as this month.\n“That would likely be a headline that would cap the markets rise and cause further rotation away from high multiple growth stocks and into cyclicals and value,” said Emanuel.\n“Cyclicals, in particular, could absorb this kind of rotation and keep the market moving sideways,” he added. “The same speculative interest that the public has shown in technology stocks ... it’s entirely possible that at some point in 2021, you could get a degree of speculative fervor that you’ve seen in those types, moving towards financials.”\nThe S&P financial sector is up about 6% since the start of the year.\nBanks have moved higher as the yield curve has steepened. That simply means the difference between short-term rates, like the 2-year, and longer-term rates, like the 10-year, has increased.\nThat so-called steeper curve helps banks to make money, as they can borrow at the very low short-term rates and lend at a higher rate for longer periods of time.\nBank of America strategists say energy and tech hardware are among the expensive sectors that could be hurt by rising rates. Banks, diversified financials and semiconductors are among inexpensive sectors that benefit from rising rates, they added.\nStock dividends vs. yields\nBut strategists say Treasury yields, though rising, are far from levels where they compete with stocks for investment dollars.\nLori Calvasina, head of U.S. equity strategy at RBC, said there’s no set level on the 10-year that’s a negative trigger for stocks but “3% feels like it’s where people in the past tended to get concerned.”\nCalvasina said she monitors the number of companies in the S&P 500 paying dividends above the 10-year yield. At the beginning of the year, 63% of S&P 500 companies had dividends above the 10-year yield, and several weeks later it was at 56%.\n“If it falls to 20% or 30%, at that level the market could begin to struggle,” she said. If the market does not run into trouble at that point, there are still issues and investors see less forward return.\nThe rising rate and inflation trade is very much the value-cyclicals rotation that began in the second half of last year, as vaccine news was positive and investors started to look forward to a more normal economy in 2021.\nInflation measures\nInflation expectations have been rising but they are still low.\nThe 10-year breakeven, which is a market-based inflation measure, was at 2.20% on Tuesday, up from about 2.1% at the beginning of last week. That means that investors are betting that inflation will average 2.2% over the next 10 years.\nCalvasina of RBC said as rates rise and inflation expectations increase, investors should stick with the reflation trade.\nThe reflation trade is when investors bet on companies that will do well when the economy improves and reopens. This includes airlines, financials and industrials.\nCalvasina also said she likes the financial sector, but some investors are under the misconception that parts of the reflation trade are already baked in.\nEnergy may be up more than 15% with the rise in oil prices this year, but other cyclical sectors, like materials and industrials, are up just about 2% since the start of 2021.\nGrowth areas in technology and communications services could be used as a funding source for the rotation, since they have done well, Calvasina said.\n“As inflation expectations are rising, you tend to see the underperformance of tech, the underperformance of communications services. The parts that tend do well are the commodities and financials,” she added.\nJonathan Golub, chief U.S. equity strategist at Credit Suisse, says he does not expect tech to get too hurt as rates rise. But the stocks to buy in this environment are among the “junkiest.”\n“I don’t think tech will get choked. I think the better way of looking at it, is who wins the most from an improving economy. The answer is cyclical companies ... and companies that have a business problem,” he said. “You want someone who is on the precipice, smaller cap, companies that have lots of debt.”\nGolub also said that rising Treasury yields are also positive for the market, since they represent an improving economy.\n“The most stimulative event in the history of the planet will not be the end of World War I, the end of World War II, it will be the reopening of the economy this summer,” he said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":211,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":381954002,"gmtCreate":1612924284206,"gmtModify":1704876077415,"author":{"id":"3568021363249926","authorId":"3568021363249926","name":"GOGoAnZi","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568021363249926","authorIdStr":"3568021363249926"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Same","listText":"Same","text":"Same","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/381954002","repostId":"383388267","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":383388267,"gmtCreate":1612838670159,"gmtModify":1704874827989,"author":{"id":"3560736841816623","authorId":"3560736841816623","name":"李育儒","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f2c196ab620e62eba6f9dfcbc9464a6d","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560736841816623","authorIdStr":"3560736841816623"},"themes":[],"title":"年前過山車的感受","htmlText":"<a That might seem strange, even for Musk.
“While some will view it as letting competition in on Tesla’s supercharger moat, we disagree…”\nFor all the competition between their makers, EVs account for less than 5% of all new cars sold in the U.S. For now, charging-for-all will probably matter more at the margins.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":291,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":110652210,"gmtCreate":1622451668530,"gmtModify":1704184620809,"author":{"id":"3568021363249926","authorId":"3568021363249926","name":"GOGoAnZi","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568021363249926","authorIdStr":"3568021363249926"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$I want to travel pls.","listText":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$I want to travel pls.","text":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$I want to travel pls.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/110652210","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":124,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":381194000,"gmtCreate":1612942128500,"gmtModify":1704876265094,"author":{"id":"3568021363249926","authorId":"3568021363249926","name":"GOGoAnZi","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568021363249926","authorIdStr":"3568021363249926"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I WILL NEVER LET YOU GO!!! At that level, strategists say it would be headed for 1.25%, which could launch another break higher. “You want someone who is on the precipice, smaller cap, companies that have lots of debt.”\nGolub also said that rising Treasury yields are also positive for the market, since they represent an improving economy.\n“The most stimulative event in the history of the planet will not be the end of World War I, the end of World War II, it will be the reopening of the economy this summer,” he said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":211,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":383380457,"gmtCreate":1612838310779,"gmtModify":1704874822638,"author":{"id":"3568021363249926","authorId":"3568021363249926","name":"GOGoAnZi","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568021363249926","authorIdStr":"3568021363249926"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I love my stocks//@Bryans: Yoy","listText":"I love my stocks//@Bryans: Yoy","text":"I love my stocks//@Bryans: Yoy","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/383380457","repostId":"1132260998","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1132260998","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1612519255,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1132260998?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-02-05 18:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Performance of funds invested in GameStop in past two weeks","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1132260998","media":"Reuters","summary":"(Reuters) - The Morgan Stanley Institutional Small Co.
