Among them was communication services, which ended 0.5% lower, having hit a record intraday high earlier in the session.\nThe largest gainer was the energy index, which rose 2.1% on oil prices hitting multi-year highs on a positive demand outlook. Exxon Mobil Corp had its best day since Mar. 5, jumping 3.6%. [O/R]\nIn corporate news, Boeing Co gained 0.6% after the United States and the European Union agreed on a truce in their 17-year conflict over aircraft subsidies involving the planemaker and its rival Airbus.\nHaving slumped 19% on Monday, Lordstown Motors Corp shares rebounded 11.3% after comments from the electric truck manufacturer’s president on orders.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 9.98 billion shares, compared with the 10.58 billion average over the last 20 trading days.\nThe S&P 500 posted 36 new 52-week highs and 1 new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 87 new highs and 21 new lows.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"161125":0.9,"513500":0.9,"ESmain":0.9,"SSO":0.9,"SH":0.9,"TQQQ":0.9,"DJX":0.9,"MNQmain":0.9,"DDM":0.9,"QID":0.9,"OEF":0.9,"IVV":0.9,"OEX":0.9,"SDS":0.9,"DOG":0.9,"SDOW":0.9,".DJI":0.9,"QQQ":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,"UPRO":0.9,"QLD":0.9,"BA":0.9,"SQQQ":0.9,"DXD":0.9,".SPX":0.9,"SPXU":0.9,"UDOW":0.9,"PSQ":0.9,"NQmain":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1786,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187850209,"gmtCreate":1623749906601,"gmtModify":1704210402955,"author":{"id":"3569822140458546","authorId":"3569822140458546","name":"omgal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49ce57276296fbe11fd86e4adf7fc115","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569822140458546","idStr":"3569822140458546"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Dying horse?","listText":"Dying horse?","text":"Dying horse?","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/dced23eedb546809bcb278b64875389d","width":"1440","height":"2666"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187850209","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1928,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187827208,"gmtCreate":1623749871804,"gmtModify":1704210401643,"author":{"id":"3569822140458546","authorId":"3569822140458546","name":"omgal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49ce57276296fbe11fd86e4adf7fc115","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569822140458546","idStr":"3569822140458546"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ push on please","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ push on please","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ push on please","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8f7afef7824acd02178be7b149eb1d0e","width":"1440","height":"2560"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187827208","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2061,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187823678,"gmtCreate":1623749693694,"gmtModify":1704210393825,"author":{"id":"3569822140458546","authorId":"3569822140458546","name":"omgal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49ce57276296fbe11fd86e4adf7fc115","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569822140458546","idStr":"3569822140458546"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lol..","listText":"Lol..","text":"Lol..","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29b3dc665f172c28b8f7b75cd7a7a9ca","width":"1440","height":"2666"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187823678","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1983,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":185523886,"gmtCreate":1623661293245,"gmtModify":1704208046717,"author":{"id":"3569822140458546","authorId":"3569822140458546","name":"omgal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49ce57276296fbe11fd86e4adf7fc115","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569822140458546","idStr":"3569822140458546"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Elon again","listText":"Elon again","text":"Elon again","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/185523886","repostId":"1135133788","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1135133788","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1623659116,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1135133788?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-14 16:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Bitcoin sector stocks gained in pre-market trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1135133788","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Bitcoin sector stocks gained in pre-market trading,CAN shares rose more than 10% in pre-market.\nTesl","content":"
Bitcoin sector stocks gained in pre-market trading,CAN shares rose more than 10% in pre-market.
\n
Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday said the company will resume bitcoin transactions once it confirms there is reasonable clean energy usage by miners.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; SLYV rallied 32% this year through Thursday's close.
\n
That more than doubles the return of its growth stock counterpart, SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Growth (SLYG), which is up 15%. The index SLYG tracks includes stocks with the strongest growth traits based on sales growth, earnings change to price and momentum.
\n
Back to SLYV, financials accounted for the biggest sector weight at 24% of assets. Industrials weighed in at about 17%, consumer discretionary 15% and real estate 10%. Information technology was next at 8% and materials, energy and health care, 6% each. Smaller positions in consumer staples, utilities and communication services made up the rest.
\n
SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Value is in IBD's ETF Leaders, but SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Growth is not.
\n
GameStop Stock Leads
\n
GameStop(GME),Macy's(M),PDC Energy(PDCE),Resideo Technologies(REZI) andBankUnited(BKU) were the top five holdings as of Wednesday.
\n
Pacific Premier Bancorp(PPBI),Bed Bath & Beyond(BBBY),Ameris Bancorp(ABCB),First Hawaiian(FHB) andInsight Enterprises(NSIT) rounded out the top 10.
\n
GameStop has undergone wide swings this year. It rocketed about 2,500% early this year amid theshort-squeeze rallyfueled by the Reddit/WallStreetBets crowd.GME stockthen crashed 92% from a Jan. 28 high to its mid-February low. That was followed by an 805% surge the next three weeks, and a 66% drop over the next two weeks.
\n
Action had been relatively subdued since, until Thursday's 27% dive. Even after that, GameStop stock was up 1,070% year to date through Thursday's close.
\n
Could GME be inflating SLYV's performance? Certainly, given its quadruple-digit gain. But a look at SLYG's portfolio is interesting. GameStop stock is also the top holding in the growth stock ETF, though the rest of the top 10 differ vastly.
\n
Second Meme Stock In Top 10
\n
PDC Energy, up 130%, saw the next biggest gain in the top 10. The Colorado-based oil and gas explorer has a 97Relative Strength Rating, which mean it's in the top 3% of all stocks. Its relative strength line is at a 52-week high, a bullish sign.
\n
Bed Bath & Beyond, another meme stock, is up 78% this year. Shares surged more than 200% in January, amid a spate of wild double-digit swings. BBBY stock then gave back the bulk of its gains.
\n
But the home goods retailer appears to be back on the radar of the WallStreetBets discussion group. On June 2, Bed Bath & Beyond soared 62% before diving 28% the next session.
\n
The rest of the top 10 stocks have also outperformed the broader market. SLYV rallied 32% this year through Thursday's close.\nThat more than doubles the return of its growth stock counterpart, SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Growth (SLYG), which is up 15%. The index SLYG tracks includes stocks with the strongest growth traits based on sales growth, earnings change to price and momentum.\nBack to SLYV, financials accounted for the biggest sector weight at 24% of assets. Industrials weighed in at about 17%, consumer discretionary 15% and real estate 10%. Information technology was next at 8% and materials, energy and health care, 6% each. Smaller positions in consumer staples, utilities and communication services made up the rest.\nSPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Value is in IBD's ETF Leaders, but SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Growth is not.\nGameStop Stock Leads\nGameStop(GME),Macy's(M),PDC Energy(PDCE),Resideo Technologies(REZI) andBankUnited(BKU) were the top five holdings as of Wednesday.\nPacific Premier Bancorp(PPBI),Bed Bath & Beyond(BBBY),Ameris Bancorp(ABCB),First Hawaiian(FHB) andInsight Enterprises(NSIT) rounded out the top 10.\nGameStop has undergone wide swings this year. It rocketed about 2,500% early this year amid theshort-squeeze rallyfueled by the Reddit/WallStreetBets crowd.GME stockthen crashed 92% from a Jan. 28 high to its mid-February low. That was followed by an 805% surge the next three weeks, and a 66% drop over the next two weeks.\nAction had been relatively subdued since, until Thursday's 27% dive. Even after that, GameStop stock was up 1,070% year to date through Thursday's close.\nCould GME be inflating SLYV's performance? Certainly, given its quadruple-digit gain. But a look at SLYG's portfolio is interesting. GameStop stock is also the top holding in the growth stock ETF, though the rest of the top 10 differ vastly.\nSecond Meme Stock In Top 10\nPDC Energy, up 130%, saw the next biggest gain in the top 10. The Colorado-based oil and gas explorer has a 97Relative Strength Rating, which mean it's in the top 3% of all stocks. Its relative strength line is at a 52-week high, a bullish sign.\nBed Bath & Beyond, another meme stock, is up 78% this year. Shares surged more than 200% in January, amid a spate of wild double-digit swings. BBBY stock then gave back the bulk of its gains.\nBut the home goods retailer appears to be back on the radar of the WallStreetBets discussion group. On June 2, Bed Bath & Beyond soared 62% before diving 28% the next session.\nThe rest of the top 10 stocks have also outperformed the broader market. Macy's is up 68% year to date, while Resideo, Pacific Premier and Ameris have risen more than 40% each. The lowest gainer, bank holding company First Hawaiian, has advanced 20%. The S&P 500 held a 13% gain through Thursday's close.\nSLYV remains in potential buy range from an 87.29entryof acup with handle, according toMarketSmithchart analysis. ratio.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BBBY":0.9,"PDCE":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":961,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":186013845,"gmtCreate":1623464939887,"gmtModify":1704204367049,"author":{"id":"3569822140458546","authorId":"3569822140458546","name":"omgal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49ce57276296fbe11fd86e4adf7fc115","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569822140458546","idStr":"3569822140458546"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hope Business","summary":"New York (CNN Business) -The Biden bust that the Trump campaign warned of has morphed into a Biden b","content":"
New York (CNN Business) -The Biden bust that the Trump campaign warned of has morphed into a Biden boom.
\n
The S&P 500 is up 8.6% since the market close on January 20, the final day of the Trump presidency. That means President Joe Biden is on track for the strongest stock market performance during a new president's first 100 days since John F. Kennedy in 1961, according to CFRA Research.
\n
The Biden rally squeaks past the 8.4%jump during the first 100 days of the Obama presidency and is well above the 5% increase in the months following former President Donald Trump's inauguration.
\n
Friday will mark Biden's 100th full day in office, not counting Inauguration Day.
\n
Presidents tend to get more credit — and more blame — than they deserve when it comes to the stock market's performance. Still, the historic gains at the start of the Biden era add to asense of optimism about America's economic recovery from a once-in-a-century pandemic.
\n
\"If the stock market is any indication, Wall Street appears to approve of President Biden's attempts to corral the Covid-19 crisis and stimulate the economy,\" Sam Stovall, CFRA's chief investment strategist, told CNN Business.
\n
That approval is all the more striking because Trump, who viewed the Dow as a barometer of his success, warned repeatedly during the 2020 campaign that the market would implode if Americans failed to reelect him.
\n
Between last August and October alone, Trump sent six tweets saying markets would outright \"crash\" if Biden were elected. Those crashes have yet to occur.
\n
\"I'm not sure presidents make very good market analysts, not just Trump,\" said Randy Frederick, vice president of trading and derivatives at Charles Schwab.
\n
Uncle Sam to the rescue
\n
The US stock market recovered from the pandemic long before the election, boosted by unprecedented support from the Federal Reserve and Congress.
\n
Markets gathered momentum last fall as nightmare election chaos scenarios were avoided. Wall Street, like Main Street, cheered vaccine breakthrough announcements in November that helped fuel the Dow's best month since January 1987.
\n
Stocks continued to rally in 2021 as the rapid rollout of vaccines that Biden presided over raised hopes for an economic boom.
\n
At the same time, Uncle Sam is still providing massive amounts of aid.
\n
Congress enacted Biden's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan last month and could be poised to pass trillions more in spending later this year. And the Federal Reserve is keeping its foot on the pedal, with rock-bottom interest rates and tens of billions of dollars of monthly bond purchases.
\n

\n
Best since FDR?
\n
The Biden rally looks even more historic if measured from the close of trading on January 19.
\n
By that measure, the S&P 500 is up more than 10% during Biden's first 100 days in office. That would mark the strongest gain during the start ofanypresidential term (not just first term) since 1932 under FDR when the S&P 500 skyrocketed 104.4%, according to Frederick.
\n
\"It's pretty remarkable,\" Frederick said of the historic gains. \"FDR's is a record that will never be beaten.\"
\n
The strong start to the Biden era adds to the run of market success under Democratic presidents — despite concerns about higher taxes.
\n
\"There is a belief out there, that is absolutely incorrect, that markets do better under Republicans,\" Frederick said. \"It's completely wrong.\"
\n
Since 1932, the S&P 500 is up 734% under Democrats, but just 370% during Republican tenures, according to Frederick.
\n
The overheating risk
\n
History suggests the stock market has a very good chance of finishing the year in the green. Since 1932, only during President Richard Nixon's first year in the White House did the S&P 500 end the year in the red after rising during the first 100 days of a presidential term, Frederick said.
\n
But there are risks the market could cool off.
\n
The biggest concern is that inflation rears its ugly head after so many years of moderate price increases. Inflation hawks warn that the unprecedented monetary and fiscal stimulus, on top of the reopening of the economy, will cause prices to surge.
\n
Although the Fed has promised to look past temporary price spikes, a significant return of inflation would force the central bank to rapidly raise interest rates — removing one of the foundations of the market rally and perhaps derailing the economic recovery.
\n
Another worry is higher taxes.
\n
Markets briefly tumbled last week on concerns over sharply higher capital gains taxes to pay for Biden's ambitious agenda. That means President Joe Biden is on track for the strongest stock market performance during a new president's first 100 days since John F. Kennedy in 1961, according to CFRA Research.\nThe Biden rally squeaks past the 8.4%jump during the first 100 days of the Obama presidency and is well above the 5% increase in the months following former President Donald Trump's inauguration.\nFriday will mark Biden's 100th full day in office, not counting Inauguration Day.\nPresidents tend to get more credit — and more blame — than they deserve when it comes to the stock market's performance. Still, the historic gains at the start of the Biden era add to asense of optimism about America's economic recovery from a once-in-a-century pandemic.\n\"If the stock market is any indication, Wall Street appears to approve of President Biden's attempts to corral the Covid-19 crisis and stimulate the economy,\" Sam Stovall, CFRA's chief investment strategist, told CNN Business.\nThat approval is all the more striking because Trump, who viewed the Dow as a barometer of his success, warned repeatedly during the 2020 campaign that the market would implode if Americans failed to reelect him.\nBetween last August and October alone, Trump sent six tweets saying markets would outright \"crash\" if Biden were elected. Those crashes have yet to occur.\n\"I'm not sure presidents make very good market analysts, not just Trump,\" said Randy Frederick, vice president of trading and derivatives at Charles Schwab.\nUncle Sam to the rescue\nThe US stock market recovered from the pandemic long before the election, boosted by unprecedented support from the Federal Reserve and Congress.\nMarkets gathered momentum last fall as nightmare election chaos scenarios were avoided. Wall Street, like Main Street, cheered vaccine breakthrough announcements in November that helped fuel the Dow's best month since January 1987.\nStocks continued to rally in 2021 as the rapid rollout of vaccines that Biden presided over raised hopes for an economic boom.\nAt the same time, Uncle Sam is still providing massive amounts of aid.\nCongress enacted Biden's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan last month and could be poised to pass trillions more in spending later this year. And the Federal Reserve is keeping its foot on the pedal, with rock-bottom interest rates and tens of billions of dollars of monthly bond purchases.\n\nBest since FDR?\nThe Biden rally looks even more historic if measured from the close of trading on January 19.\nBy that measure, the S&P 500 is up more than 10% during Biden's first 100 days in office. That would mark the strongest gain during the start ofanypresidential term (not just first term) since 1932 under FDR when the S&P 500 skyrocketed 104.4%, according to Frederick.\n\"It's pretty remarkable,\" Frederick said of the historic gains. \"FDR's is a record that will never be beaten.\"\nThe strong start to the Biden era adds to the run of market success under Democratic presidents — despite concerns about higher taxes.\n\"There is a belief out there, that is absolutely incorrect, that markets do better under Republicans,\" Frederick said. \"It's completely wrong.\"\nSince 1932, the S&P 500 is up 734% under Democrats, but just 370% during Republican tenures, according to Frederick.\nThe overheating risk\nHistory suggests the stock market has a very good chance of finishing the year in the green. Since 1932, only during President Richard Nixon's first year in the White House did the S&P 500 end the year in the red after rising during the first 100 days of a presidential term, Frederick said.\nBut there are risks the market could cool off.\nThe biggest concern is that inflation rears its ugly head after so many years of moderate price increases. Inflation hawks warn that the unprecedented monetary and fiscal stimulus, on top of the reopening of the economy, will cause prices to surge.\nAlthough the Fed has promised to look past temporary price spikes, a significant return of inflation would force the central bank to rapidly raise interest rates — removing one of the foundations of the market rally and perhaps derailing the economic recovery.\nAnother worry is higher taxes.\nMarkets briefly tumbled last week on concerns over sharply higher capital gains taxes to pay for Biden's ambitious agenda. It's too soon to know whether those tax rates will go up and by how much.\nThe White House is also moving to unwind some of the Trump tax cuts that juiced the stock market in 2017 and 2018. Biden has called for raising the corporate tax rate from the current level of 21% to 28%.\nFrederick urged investors not to overreact to tax hike proposals and predicted they will likely get \"watered down\" along the way. And he suggested the market can live with modestly higher corporate taxes.\n\"We probably have room for tax rates to go a little higher,\" Frederick said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".SPX":0.9,".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":704,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":378787738,"gmtCreate":1619061947124,"gmtModify":1704719055188,"author":{"id":"3569822140458546","authorId":"3569822140458546","name":"omgal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49ce57276296fbe11fd86e4adf7fc115","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569822140458546","idStr":"3569822140458546"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$KIMLY LIMITED(1D0.SI)$➡️↗️⬆️","listText":"$KIMLY LIMITED(1D0.SI)$➡️↗️⬆️","text":"$KIMLY LIMITED(1D0.SI)$➡️↗️⬆️","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8b38ca87a3f4cb75cf4790d19f3d09bd","width":"1440","height":"2560"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/378787738","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":578,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":166847885,"gmtCreate":1624004010747,"gmtModify":1703826294197,"author":{"id":"3569822140458546","authorId":"3569822140458546","name":"omgal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49ce57276296fbe11fd86e4adf7fc115","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569822140458546","idStr":"3569822140458546"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9aefbdd6ba641fffacf85d684b5ebdef","width":"1440","height":"2550"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/166847885","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2159,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":169942891,"gmtCreate":1623814456213,"gmtModify":1703820315091,"author":{"id":"3569822140458546","authorId":"3569822140458546","name":"omgal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49ce57276296fbe11fd86e4adf7fc115","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569822140458546","idStr":"3569822140458546"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ride the bear again","listText":"Ride the bear again","text":"Ride the bear again","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/169942891","repostId":"2143680537","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2143680537","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1623797252,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2143680537?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-16 06:47","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street ends down as data spooks investors awaiting Fed report","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2143680537","media":"Reuters","summary":"Wall Street’s main indices closed lower on Tuesday as data showing stronger inflation and weaker U.S. retail sales in May spooked already-jittery investors awaiting the results of the Federal Reserve’s latest policy meeting.Assurance from the Fed that rising prices are transitory and falling U.S. Treasury yields have helped ease some concerns over inflation and supported U.S. stocks in recent weeks. All eyes are now on the central bank’s statement at the end of its two-day policy meeting on Wednesday.\nData showed an acceleration in producer prices last month as supply chains struggled to meet demand unleashed by the reopening of the economy. A separate report showed U.S. retail sales dropped more than expected in May.\n“There was a bit of a reaction to the economic data we got, which, for the most part, shows that the economy is starting to wean itself off stimulus, the recovery is slowing down a little, and inflation is continuing to grow,” said Ed Moya, senior market analyst for the Americas at OANDA.\n“We’re seeing some very modest weakness, and it’ll be choppy leading up to the Fed decision. Right now, the Fed is probably in a position to show they are thinking about tapering, but they’re still a long way from actually doing it.”\nThe Fed is likely to announce in August or September a strategy for reducing its massive bond buying program, but will not start cutting monthly purchases until early next year, a Reuters poll of economists found.\nThe benchmark S&P 500, the blue-chip Dow Jones and the tech-focused Nasdaq have risen 13%, 12.1% and 9.2% respectively so far this year, largely driven by optimism about an economic reopening.\nHowever, the S&P 500 has been broadly stuck within a range, despite recording its 29th record-high finish of 2021 on Monday, versus 33 for all of last year.\nThe Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 94.42 points, or 0.27%, to 34,299.33, the S&P 500 lost 8.56 points, or 0.20%, to 4,246.59 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 101.29 points, or 0.71%, to 14,072.86.\nSeven of the 11 major S&P sectors slipped. Among them was communication services, which ended 0.5% lower, having hit a record intraday high earlier in the session.\nThe largest gainer was the energy index, which rose 2.1% on oil prices hitting multi-year highs on a positive demand outlook.
