She knows ups and downs are to be expected, but what sheâs seeing happen with investment fads like GameStop has her concerned.
\n
âI donât like what I see happening in the market right now,â Orman said in a video for CNBC. âThe economy has been horrible, but the stock market has been going.â
\n
While investing is as easy now asusing a smartphone app, Orman is concerned about where we can go from these record highs.
\n
And even with stimulus checks, which are still going out, and the real estate market breaking its own records last year, Orman worries about what will come with the coronavirus â especially as new variants continue to pop up.
\n
What's more, she feels itâs just been too long since the last crash to stay this high much longer.
\n
âThis reminds me of 2000 all over again,â Orman says.
\n
The Buffett Indicator
\n
Larry W Smith/EPA/Shutterstock
\n
One metric Warren Buffett uses to assess the market so regularly that itâs been named after him has been flashing red for long enough that market watchers are starting to wonder if itâs an outdated tool.
\n
But the Buffett Indicator, a measurement of the ratio of the stock marketâs total value against U.S. economic output, continues to climb to previously unseen levels.
\n
And those in the know are wondering if it's a sign that weâre about to see a hard fall.
\n
How to prepare for a crashFreedomz / Shutterstock
\n
Orman has three recommendations for setting up a simple investment strategy to help you successfully navigate any sharp turns in the market.
\n
1. Diversify with fractional shares
\n
To help weather dips in specific corners of the market, Orman suggests you diversify your investments â balance your portfolio with investments in many different types of assets and sectors of the economy.
\n
Orman particularly recommends fractional-share investing. This approach allows you to buy a slice of a share for a big-name company that you otherwise wouldnât be able to afford.
\n
With the help of apopular stock-trading tool, anyone at any budget can afford the fractional share strategy.
\n
âThe sooner you begin, the more money you will have,â says Orman. âJust donât stop, and when these markets go down, you should be so happy because your dollars find more shares.â
\n
âAnd the more shares you have, the more money youâll have 20, 40, 50 years from now.â
\n
What else you can do
\n
goodluz / Shutterstock
\n
Whether or not a big crash is around the corner, investors who are still decades out from retirement can make that work for them, Orman said in theCNBC video.
\n
First, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Since the onset of the pandemic, Orman now recommends everyone have an emergency fund that can cover their expenses for a full year.
\n
Then, to set yourself up fora comfortable retirement, she suggests you opt for a Roth account, whether thatâs a 401(k) or IRA.
\n
That will help you avoid paying tax when you take money out of your retirement account because your contributions to a Roth account are made after tax. Traditional IRAs, on the other hand, arenât taxed when you make contributions, so youâll end up paying later.
\n
If you find you need a little more guidance, working with aprofessional financial adviser, can help point you in the right direction so you can confidently ride out any market volatility.
\n
While everyone else is veering off course or overcorrecting, youâll be firmly in the driverâs seat with your sunset years planned for.
","source":"lsy1621813427262","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Traditional IRAs, on the other hand, arenât taxed when you make contributions, so youâll end up paying later.\nIf you find you need a little more guidance, working with aprofessional financial adviser, can help point you in the right direction so you can confidently ride out any market volatility.\nWhile everyone else is veering off course or overcorrecting, youâll be firmly in the driverâs seat with your sunset years planned for.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SPY":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".DJI":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2686,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":158993026,"gmtCreate":1625118908465,"gmtModify":1703736533383,"author":{"id":"3569825935980373","authorId":"3569825935980373","name":"AngelaA","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2beaf271aaa40093fb242affe5f17835","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569825935980373","idStr":"3569825935980373"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/158993026","repostId":"1100862435","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1100862435","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625117147,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1100862435?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-01 13:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Cathie Wood Sells $18.7M In Palantir","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1100862435","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Cathie Wood-led Ark Investment Management on Wednesday shed more weight in Palantir Technologies Inc","content":"
\n
Cathie Wood-led Ark Investment Management on Wednesday shed more weight in Palantir Technologies Inc , its second such sale in the data analytics company in recent months.\nThe investment firm sold 710...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"lsy1606299360108","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; That should add up to a strong earnings report this week.
\n
Massive demand for shippingâeven as companies charge more for their products due to supply constraintsâhas allowed FedEx (ticker: FDX) to hike its prices without added expenses, explains Rick Patterson, an analyst at Loop Capital Markets. That helps drive profit margins, which are expected to expand to 8.3% in 2022 from 7.7% in 2021, according to FactSet data.
\n
Investors will get a chance to put all that to the test on June 24, whenFedEx reports earnings. The stock has fallen about 6% in the past eight trading sessions, following UPSâs (UPS) disappointing investor day on June 9. Yet Big Brown said pricing is strong and its operating profit margins should rise for the coming two years. Thatâs essentially what Patterson expects for FedEx.
\n
The overall health of the parcel shipping business is seen in analyst estimates. For its fiscal fourth quarter, FedEx is expected to report a profit of $4.98 a share, up from $2.53 a year ago, on sales of $21.5 billion, up from $17.4 billion.
\n
Its guidance for fiscal 2022 will be more important, explains Citigroup analyst Christian Wetherbee. He sees FedEx forecasting earnings of as much as $22 a share, above the consensus for $20.39. âWe expect FedEx to be more vocal about the pricing opportunity in parcel and see a path toward $25 in EPS, which supports our long-term bull case of $550,â he writes.
\n
A big beat and strong guidance will probably be needed to move the stock higher. Shares, which closed at $285.32 on Friday, have gone nowhere since December. That should add up to a strong earnings report this week.\nMassive demand for shippingâeven as companies charge more for their products due to supply constraintsâhas allowed FedEx (ticker: FDX) to hike its prices without added expenses, explains Rick Patterson, an analyst at Loop Capital Markets. That helps drive profit margins, which are expected to expand to 8.3% in 2022 from 7.7% in 2021, according to FactSet data.\nInvestors will get a chance to put all that to the test on June 24, whenFedEx reports earnings. The stock has fallen about 6% in the past eight trading sessions, following UPSâs (UPS) disappointing investor day on June 9. Yet Big Brown said pricing is strong and its operating profit margins should rise for the coming two years. Thatâs essentially what Patterson expects for FedEx.\nThe overall health of the parcel shipping business is seen in analyst estimates. For its fiscal fourth quarter, FedEx is expected to report a profit of $4.98 a share, up from $2.53 a year ago, on sales of $21.5 billion, up from $17.4 billion.\nIts guidance for fiscal 2022 will be more important, explains Citigroup analyst Christian Wetherbee. He sees FedEx forecasting earnings of as much as $22 a share, above the consensus for $20.39. âWe expect FedEx to be more vocal about the pricing opportunity in parcel and see a path toward $25 in EPS, which supports our long-term bull case of $550,â he writes.\nA big beat and strong guidance will probably be needed to move the stock higher. Shares, which closed at $285.32 on Friday, have gone nowhere since December. Yet they trade at under 14 times calendar-year 2022 estimated earnings, below UPSâs 17 times.\nWith the stock trading like that, perhaps investors are worried about nothing. But some investors have pulled the plug on the company lately.
\n
Tesla (TSLA) shares are nearly 25% below their all-time high set earlier in the year, and down 2% for 2021 to date -â a time when traditional automakers are surging as they ramp up electric vehicle ambitions.
\n
Ford (F) stock is up nearly 75%, putting it in the top 10 of the S&P 500 in 2021. The company unveiled its electric F-150 Lightning truck last month and also told investors that it now expects electric vehicles to account for 40% of global sales by 2030.
\n
And GM (GM) is up more than 40% as well. The Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac maker said this month that it's looking to spend a whopping $35 billion on EVs by 2025.
\n
It seems investors are a bit infatuated with these legacy Big 3 automakers as they look to rapidly expand their electric car offerings to catch up with Tesla.
\n
Tesla is still growing incredibly quickly. Analysts expect earnings per share to more than double this year and increase at an average rate of about 45% annually over the next few years.
\n
Yet Tesla is one of the most polarizing stocks on Wall Street.
\n
According to Refinitiv, 14 analysts have the stock rated a \"buy,\" 13 a \"hold\" and 10 a \"sell.\" Contrast that with GM, which has 20 buy ratings, two holds and no sells.
\n
Skeptics have many questions about Tesla and Musk
\n
The consensus target price for Tesla stock from analysts is $652, about 6% lower than its current price.
\n
Tesla critics have a pile of worries to point to. A notable short seller who was featured in \"The Big Short\" is betting against the company. Concerns about Tesla's management bench sprung up after longtime executive Jerome Guillen abruptly left earlier this month â especially since CEO Elon Musk is also busy running SpaceX.
\n
And Musk's obsession with bitcoin and dogecoin, along with other extracurricular activities like hosting Saturday Night Live and constantly tweeting, might be a turnoff for some investors and analysts.
\n
Still, there is no denying that the company has plenty of ardent fans, and its vehicles have grabbed plenty of positive headlines this week alone.
\n
For example, Cars.com (CARS) announced earlier this week that Tesla's Model 3 was ranked first in its American-Made Index, which measures how much a vehicle contributes to the US economy based on factors such as domestic factory jobs, manufacturing plants and parts sourcing.
\n
The Model 3 edged out Ford's Mustang for the top spot, and Tesla's Model Y also ranked third on the list. Shares of Tesla rallied more than 5% Wednesday following the news.
\n
The stock gained even more ground Thursday after Musk tweeted the night before that Tesla investors might get preferential treatment to buy shares of SpaceX-owned Starlink if SpaceX eventually decides to spin off the satellite internet service in a few years.
\n
So even though Tesla's stock is still in the red this year, shares have quickly clawed back much of their 2021 losses after a more than 12% surge in the past five days.
\n
Tesla is nothing if not volatile.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Tesla stock is getting left in Ford's and GM's dust
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Tesla stock is getting left in Ford's and GM's dust\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-25 17:08 GMT+8 cnn\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
New York (CNN Business)Tesla had a stellar 2020: The electric car maker was added to the S&P 500 and the stock surged an electrifying 743%. The Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac maker said this month that it's looking to spend a whopping $35 billion on EVs by 2025.\nIt seems investors are a bit infatuated with these legacy Big 3 automakers as they look to rapidly expand their electric car offerings to catch up with Tesla.\nTesla is still growing incredibly quickly. Analysts expect earnings per share to more than double this year and increase at an average rate of about 45% annually over the next few years.\nYet Tesla is one of the most polarizing stocks on Wall Street.\nAccording to Refinitiv, 14 analysts have the stock rated a \"buy,\" 13 a \"hold\" and 10 a \"sell.\" Contrast that with GM, which has 20 buy ratings, two holds and no sells.\nSkeptics have many questions about Tesla and Musk\nThe consensus target price for Tesla stock from analysts is $652, about 6% lower than its current price.\nTesla critics have a pile of worries to point to. A notable short seller who was featured in \"The Big Short\" is betting against the company. Concerns about Tesla's management bench sprung up after longtime executive Jerome Guillen abruptly left earlier this month â especially since CEO Elon Musk is also busy running SpaceX.\nAnd Musk's obsession with bitcoin and dogecoin, along with other extracurricular activities like hosting Saturday Night Live and constantly tweeting, might be a turnoff for some investors and analysts.\nStill, there is no denying that the company has plenty of ardent fans, and its vehicles have grabbed plenty of positive headlines this week alone.\nFor example, Cars.com (CARS) announced earlier this week that Tesla's Model 3 was ranked first in its American-Made Index, which measures how much a vehicle contributes to the US economy based on factors such as domestic factory jobs, manufacturing plants and parts sourcing.\nThe Model 3 edged out Ford's Mustang for the top spot, and Tesla's Model Y also ranked third on the list. Shares of Tesla rallied more than 5% Wednesday following the news.\nThe stock gained even more ground Thursday after Musk tweeted the night before that Tesla investors might get preferential treatment to buy shares of SpaceX-owned Starlink if SpaceX eventually decides to spin off the satellite internet service in a few years.\nSo even though Tesla's stock is still in the red this year, shares have quickly clawed back much of their 2021 losses after a more than 12% surge in the past five days.\nTesla is nothing if not volatile.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2680,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":128746024,"gmtCreate":1624534198868,"gmtModify":1703839601981,"author":{"id":"3569825935980373","authorId":"3569825935980373","name":"AngelaA","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2beaf271aaa40093fb242affe5f17835","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569825935980373","idStr":"3569825935980373"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Strong] ","listText":"[Strong] ","text":"[Strong]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/128746024","repostId":"2145156570","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1897,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":321791557,"gmtCreate":1615468496579,"gmtModify":1704783159965,"author":{"id":"3569825935980373","authorId":"3569825935980373","name":"AngelaA","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2beaf271aaa40093fb242affe5f17835","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569825935980373","idStr":"3569825935980373"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"TSLA!","listText":"TSLA!","text":"TSLA!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/321791557","repostId":"1128608854","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1128608854","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1615378622,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1128608854?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-10 20:17","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Which Stocks Are WallStreetBets Users Talking About Today?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1128608854","media":"Benzinga","summary":"U.S. stocks rose on Tuesday, reflecting gains by battered technology stocks amid a fall in bond yields.
But some investors have pulled the plug on the company lately.\nTesla (TSLA) shares are nearly 25% below their all-time high set earlier in the year, and down 2% for 2021 to date -â a time when traditional automakers are surging as they ramp up electric vehicle ambitions.\nFord (F) stock is up nearly 75%, putting it in the top 10 of the S&P 500 in 2021. The company unveiled its electric F-150 Lightning truck last month and also told investors that it now expects electric vehicles to account for 40% of global sales by 2030.\nAnd GM (GM) is up more than 40% as well.
\n
1. Buy low
\n
Part of what upsets Orman so much about the furor over meme stocks like GameStop is it goes completely against the average investorâs interests.
\n
âAll of you have your heads screwed on backwards,â she says. âAll you want is for these markets to go up and up and up. What good is that going to do you?â
\n
She points out the only extra money most people have goes towardinvesting for retirementin their 401(k) or IRA plans.
\n
Because you probably donât plan to touch that money for decades, the best long-term strategy is to buy low. That way, your dollar will go much further now, leaving plenty of room for growth over the next 20, 30 or 40 years.
\n
2. Invest on a schedule
\n
katjen / Shutterstock
\n
While she prefers to buy low, Orman doesnât recommend you stop investing completely when the market goes up.
\n
She wants casual investors to not get caught up in the daily ups and downs of the market.
\n
In fact, cheering for downturns now may be your best bet at getting a larger piece of very profitable investments â like some lucky investors were able to do back in 2007 and 2008.
\n
âWhen the market went down, down, down you could buy things at nothing,â says Orman. âAnd now look at them 15 years later.â
\n
She suggests you set up a dollar-cost averaging strategy, which means you invest your money in equal portions at regular intervals, regardless of the marketâs fluctuations.
\n
This kind of approach is easy to implement with any of the many investing apps currently available to DIY investors.
\n
There are even apps that willautomatically invest your spare changeby rounding up your debit and credit card purchases to the nearest dollar.
\n
3. Diversify with fractional shares
\n
To help weather dips in specific corners of the market, Orman suggests you diversify your investments â balance your portfolio with investments in many different types of assets and sectors of the economy.
\n
Orman particularly recommends fractional-share investing. She knows ups and downs are to be expected, but what sheâs seeing happen with investment fads like GameStop has her concerned.\nâI donât like what I see happening in the market right now,â Orman said in a video for CNBC. âThe economy has been horrible, but the stock market has been going.â\nWhile investing is as easy now asusing a smartphone app, Orman is concerned about where we can go from these record highs.\nAnd even with stimulus checks, which are still going out, and the real estate market breaking its own records last year, Orman worries about what will come with the coronavirus â especially as new variants continue to pop up.\nWhat's more, she feels itâs just been too long since the last crash to stay this high much longer.\nâThis reminds me of 2000 all over again,â Orman says.\nThe Buffett Indicator\nLarry W Smith/EPA/Shutterstock\nOne metric Warren Buffett uses to assess the market so regularly that itâs been named after him has been flashing red for long enough that market watchers are starting to wonder if itâs an outdated tool.\nBut the Buffett Indicator, a measurement of the ratio of the stock marketâs total value against U.S. economic output, continues to climb to previously unseen levels.\nAnd those in the know are wondering if it's a sign that weâre about to see a hard fall.\nHow to prepare for a crashFreedomz / Shutterstock\nOrman has three recommendations for setting up a simple investment strategy to help you successfully navigate any sharp turns in the market.\n1. Buy low\nPart of what upsets Orman so much about the furor over meme stocks like GameStop is it goes completely against the average investorâs interests.\nâAll of you have your heads screwed on backwards,â she says. âAll you want is for these markets to go up and up and up. What good is that going to do you?â\nShe points out the only extra money most people have goes towardinvesting for retirementin their 401(k) or IRA plans.\nBecause you probably donât plan to touch that money for decades, the best long-term strategy is to buy low. That way, your dollar will go much further now, leaving plenty of room for growth over the next 20, 30 or 40 years.\n2. Invest on a schedule\nkatjen / Shutterstock\nWhile she prefers to buy low, Orman doesnât recommend you stop investing completely when the market goes up.\nShe wants casual investors to not get caught up in the daily ups and downs of the market.\nIn fact, cheering for downturns now may be your best bet at getting a larger piece of very profitable investments â like some lucky investors were able to do back in 2007 and 2008.\nâWhen the market went down, down, down you could buy things at nothing,â says Orman. âAnd now look at them 15 years later.â\nShe suggests you set up a dollar-cost averaging strategy, which means you invest your money in equal portions at regular intervals, regardless of the marketâs fluctuations.\nThis kind of approach is easy to implement with any of the many investing apps currently available to DIY investors.\nThere are even apps that willautomatically invest your spare changeby rounding up your debit and credit card purchases to the nearest dollar.\n3. Diversify with fractional shares\nTo help weather dips in specific corners of the market, Orman suggests you diversify your investments â balance your portfolio with investments in many different types of assets and sectors of the economy.\nOrman particularly recommends fractional-share investing. This approach allows you to buy a slice of a share for a big-name company that you otherwise wouldnât be able to afford.\nWith the help of apopular stock-trading tool, anyone at any budget can afford the fractional share strategy.\nâThe sooner you begin, the more money you will have,â says Orman. âJust donât stop, and when these markets go down, you should be so happy because your dollars find more shares.â\nâAnd the more shares you have, the more money youâll have 20, 40, 50 years from now.â\nWhat else you can do\ngoodluz / Shutterstock\nWhether or not a big crash is around the corner, investors who are still decades out from retirement can make that work for them, Orman said in theCNBC video.\nFirst, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Since the onset of the pandemic, Orman now recommends everyone have an emergency fund that can cover their expenses for a full year.\nThen, to set yourself up fora comfortable retirement, she suggests you opt for a Roth account, whether thatâs a 401(k) or IRA.\nThat will help you avoid paying tax when you take money out of your retirement account because your contributions to a Roth account are made after tax. Traditional IRAs, on the other hand, arenât taxed when you make contributions, so youâll end up paying later.\nIf you find you need a little more guidance, working with aprofessional financial adviser, can help point you in the right direction so you can confidently ride out any market volatility.\nWhile everyone else is veering off course or overcorrecting, youâll be firmly in the driverâs seat with your sunset years planned for.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SPY":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".DJI":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2686,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":158993026,"gmtCreate":1625118908465,"gmtModify":1703736533383,"author":{"id":"3569825935980373","authorId":"3569825935980373","name":"AngelaA","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2beaf271aaa40093fb242affe5f17835","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569825935980373","idStr":"3569825935980373"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/158993026","repostId":"1100862435","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1100862435","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625117147,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1100862435?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-01 13:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Cathie Wood Sells $18.7M In Palantir","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1100862435","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Cathie Wood-led Ark Investment Management on Wednesday shed more weight in Palantir Technologies Inc","content":"
\n
Cathie Wood-led Ark Investment Management on Wednesday shed more weight in Palantir Technologies Inc , its second such sale in the data analytics company in recent months.\nThe investment firm sold 710...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"lsy1606299360108","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
