(NYSE:NIO) will face a challenging YoY comparison from FQ2'22 onwards, given the massive impact of China's ongoing Zero Covid Policy in Shanghai. The company would need to go above and beyond the impossible to achieve its delivery guidance of at least 23K vehicles in FQ2'22, given that Tesla (TSLA) had also struggled to reach pre-lockdown deliveries in May 2022. Given the complexity of auto supply chains, it is unlikely that NIO would be able to report an impressive YoY comparison in FQ2'22, thus suggesting a stagnant stock valuation and prices moving forward, if not a retracement. As a result, we would advise interested investors to wait and observe a little longer before adding more NIO stock to their portfolios.

Risk-averse investors would be well advised of NIO's potential delisting from the NYSE stock market, though it is also apparent that a secondary listing in Singapore has been completed.

Nonetheless, despite the multiple uncertainties, we reiterate our stand since our previous analysis, that NIO remains a promising EV stock with an interesting battery swap concept. As one of the leading companies in China, the company stands to gain critical market share from Tesla in China, in the EU market, and potentially in the US market, upon its eventual entry in the future.

Therefore, NIO stock is highly suitable for speculative long-term investors, despite its current lack of profitability and the political uncertainty in China.

NIO Reported Slowing Revenue Growth And Sustained Un-Profitability

NIO Revenue and Gross Income

S&P Capital IQ

NIO reported revenues of $1.56B in FQ1'22, representing a YoY increase of 27.8%, though in line sequentially. The deceleration in revenue growth is partly attributed to supply chain production capacity for now, though we expect to see improvements by H2'22. However, it is also apparent that there is increasing pressure on its gross margins, given that the company reports YoY lower gross margin of 14.6% in FQ1'22 compared to 19.5% in FQ1'21. With rising battery and chip costs, we expect NIO's gross margins to continue declining in FQ2'22 before potentially recovering once the price hikes kick in by FQ3'22.

In FQ1'22, NIO also delivered 25.7K vehicles for the quarter, representing in line sequentially and an exemplary increase of 37.6% YoY. NIO CEO William Bin Li said:

Despite the volatilities of the supply chain and the challenges in vehicle delivery resulting from the recent COVID-19 resurgence, we witnessed robust demand for our complementary products and achieved an all-time high order inflow in May 2022. (Seeking Alpha)

NIO Net Income and Net Income Margin

S&P Capital IQ

NIO reported net incomes of -$287.8 and net income margins of -18.4% in FQ1'22, thereby highlighting its lack of profitability since its incorporation in 2014. The company has also been increasing its operational costs exponentially with a total of $595.6M expenses by FQ1'22, representing 38.1% of its revenues and an increase of 207.1% YoY. Nonetheless, given that NIO has kept its operating expenses relatively stable at an average of 33.6% in the past eight quarters, it is apparent that the management has been rather disciplined in cost control as well.

NIO R&D and Selling General & Admin Expenses

S&P Capital IQ

NIO Long-Term Debt, Cash/ Equivalent, and Share Dilution

S&P Capital IQ

Due to its lack of profitability, it is evident that NIO will likely rely on a combination of long-term debt and share-based compensation (SBC) for its expanding operations. By FQ1'22, the company had increased its reliance on debt by over 11-fold from $0.15B to $1.75B, while also diluting its shareholder by 55.5% since its IPO in September 2018. In FY2021 alone, NIO spent $158.5M in SBC, while drastically increasing the expenses to $74.6M by FQ1'22, representing an increase of 390.2% YoY. Assuming a similar rate of SBC expenses, we may expect the company to report up to $300M for FY2022. That would be a concern for many early investors, given that the company is not expected to report net income profitability until FY2024.

NIO Will Most Likely Fail To Deliver In FQ2'22

NIO Projected Revenue and Net Income

S&P Capital IQ

Over the next three years, NIO is projected to grow its revenue at a CAGR of 55.36% while also achieving profitability by FY2024 with a net income of $0.34B. For FY2022, consensus estimates that the company will report revenues of $9.15B with net incomes of -$0.88B, representing impressive YoY growth of 61% and 50%, respectively.

Nonetheless, given the ongoing Zero Covid Policy in China, there is a likelihood of a downwards re-rating for NIO's FY2022 revenue, given Shanghai's continuous lockdowns. The company itself had guided FQ2'22 revenues in the range of $1.47B to $1.59B against consensus estimates of $1.79B, representing up to a 5.7% decline QoQ though a 12.2% growth YoY. We are also not convinced of NIO's delivery guidance of at least 23K vehicles for FQ2'22, given that the company had only delivered 5.074K and 7.042K vehicles in April and May 2022 respectively, thereby requiring an ambitious delivery of 10.884K vehicles in June 2022. Though rather unlikely, we shall anticipate its delivery update by early July 2022.

In contrast, we may expect improvement by H2'22 once NIO successfully expands its production capacity while also entering the auto market in Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. Nonetheless, it is also important to note that these require an easing of China's Covid policy while a stabling of the global supply chain issues. We shall continue to monitor the situation.

In the meantime, we encourage you to read our previous article on NIO, which would help you better understand its position and market opportunities.

NIO: Down 55% With Supercharged Growth - Time To Buy Now

So, Is NIO Stock A Buy, Sell, or Hold?

NIO 3Y EV/Revenue and P/E Valuations

S&P Capital IQ

NIO is currently trading at an EV/NTM Revenue of 2.58x and NTM P/E of -47.22x, lower than its 3Y mean of 7.12x and -83.60x, respectively. The stock is also trading at $18.14, down 67% from its 52 weeks high of $55.13, though at a 55.4% premium from its 52 weeks low of $11.67. It is apparent that the NIO stock has been on sideways price action since our last analysis in April 2022.

NIO 3Y Stock Price

Seeking Alpha

Given the macro issues and China's unrelenting Zero Covid Policy, we are of the opinion that pain will not be ending anytime soon. Therefore, NIO's delivery would likely continue to be impacted until then, further reducing any chances of stock recovery in the short term.

Though consensus estimates had rated NIO as an attractive buy with a price target of $38.33, we are of a more conservative opinion of a potential retracement by early July 2022, assuming that the company could not deliver on its FQ2'23 vehicle target. As a result, we encourage investors to wait for a deeper retracement before adding to their portfolio.

Therefore, we rate NIO stock as a Hold for now.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
NIO Could Fail In FQ2 2022 - But The Patient May Be Rewarded By H2 2022
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nNIO Could Fail In FQ2 2022 - But The Patient May Be Rewarded By H2 2022\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-06-15 23:20 GMT+8 Seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Investment ThesisIt is evident that NIO Inc. With rising battery and chip costs, we expect NIO's gross margins to continue declining in FQ2'22 before potentially recovering once the price hikes kick in by FQ3'22.In FQ1'22, NIO also delivered 25.7K vehicles for the quarter, representing in line sequentially and an exemplary increase of 37.6% YoY. NIO CEO William Bin Li said:Despite the volatilities of the supply chain and the challenges in vehicle delivery resulting from the recent COVID-19 resurgence, we witnessed robust demand for our complementary products and achieved an all-time high order inflow in May 2022. (Seeking Alpha)NIO Net Income and Net Income MarginS&P Capital IQNIO reported net incomes of -$287.8 and net income margins of -18.4% in FQ1'22, thereby highlighting its lack of profitability since its incorporation in 2014. The company has also been increasing its operational costs exponentially with a total of $595.6M expenses by FQ1'22, representing 38.1% of its revenues and an increase of 207.1% YoY. Nonetheless, given that NIO has kept its operating expenses relatively stable at an average of 33.6% in the past eight quarters, it is apparent that the management has been rather disciplined in cost control as well.NIO R&D and Selling General & Admin ExpensesS&P Capital IQNIO Long-Term Debt, Cash/ Equivalent, and Share DilutionS&P Capital IQDue to its lack of profitability, it is evident that NIO will likely rely on a combination of long-term debt and share-based compensation (SBC) for its expanding operations. That would be a concern for many early investors, given that the company is not expected to report net income profitability until FY2024.NIO Will Most Likely Fail To Deliver In FQ2'22NIO Projected Revenue and Net IncomeS&P Capital IQOver the next three years, NIO is projected to grow its revenue at a CAGR of 55.36% while also achieving profitability by FY2024 with a net income of $0.34B. For FY2022, consensus estimates that the company will report revenues of $9.15B with net incomes of -$0.88B, representing impressive YoY growth of 61% and 50%, respectively.Nonetheless, given the ongoing Zero Covid Policy in China, there is a likelihood of a downwards re-rating for NIO's FY2022 revenue, given Shanghai's continuous lockdowns. Though rather unlikely, we shall anticipate its delivery update by early July 2022.In contrast, we may expect improvement by H2'22 once NIO successfully expands its production capacity while also entering the auto market in Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. Nonetheless, it is also important to note that these require an easing of China's Covid policy while a stabling of the global supply chain issues. We shall continue to monitor the situation. In the meantime, we encourage you to read our previous article on NIO, which would help you better understand its position and market opportunities.NIO: Down 55% With Supercharged Growth - Time To Buy NowSo, Is NIO Stock A Buy, Sell, or Hold? NIO 3Y EV/Revenue and P/E ValuationsS&P Capital IQNIO is currently trading at an EV/NTM Revenue of 2.58x and NTM P/E of -47.22x, lower than its 3Y mean of 7.12x and -83.60x, respectively. The stock is also trading at $18.14, down 67% from its 52 weeks high of $55.13, though at a 55.4% premium from its 52 weeks low of $11.67. It is apparent that the NIO stock has been on sideways price action since our last analysis in April 2022.NIO 3Y Stock PriceSeeking AlphaGiven the macro issues and China's unrelenting Zero Covid Policy, we are of the opinion that pain will not be ending anytime soon. Therefore, NIO's delivery would likely continue to be impacted until then, further reducing any chances of stock recovery in the short term.Though consensus estimates had rated NIO as an attractive buy with a price target of $38.33, we are of a more conservative opinion of a potential retracement by early July 2022, assuming that the company could not deliver on its FQ2'23 vehicle target. As a result, we encourage investors to wait for a deeper retracement before adding to their portfolio. Therefore, we rate NIO stock as a Hold for now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1405,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9055325070,"gmtCreate":1655248187190,"gmtModify":1676535592619,"author":{"id":"3570272942006173","authorId":"3570272942006173","name":"Raz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f9ea187e9aeaaf216b9012645f7a0d31","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570272942006173","authorIdStr":"3570272942006173"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9055325070","repostId":"2243984945","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2243984945","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1655247566,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2243984945?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2022-06-15 06:59","market":"us","language":"en","title":"US STOCKS-S&P 500 Dips With Fed Policy Announcement on Tap","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2243984945","media":"Reuters","summary":"(Reuters) - The S&P 500 ended lower on Tuesday as the index was unable to bounce from a sharp sell-o","content":"

(Reuters) - The S&P 500 ended lower on Tuesday as the index was unable to bounce from a sharp sell-off in the prior session with a key policy statement from the Federal Reserve on deck that will reveal how aggressive the central bank's policy path will be.

Analyst expectations had largely been predicting the Fed would hike by 50 basis points at the conclusion of its meeting on Wednesday.

However, views that a 75 basis point hike was on the table have been growing after Friday's higher-than-expected consumer price index (CPI) data for May. The three stocks I thought were going to move lower for the week -- Hooker Furnishings, Stitch Fix, and ChargePoint -- finished up 1%, down 28%, and down 1%, respectively, averaging out to a 9.3% decline.

The S&P 500 experienced a 5.1% slide, and the investments I figured would fare worse did lose to the market. I was right. I have been correct in 24 of the past 34 weeks.

Where do I go to next? I see Oracle, Beyond Air, and Blink Charging as stocks you may want to consider steering clear of this week. Let's go over my near-term concerns with all three investments.

Oracle

Time hasn't been kind to one of the titans of enterprise software. The heady growth and Larry Ellison's cockiness appear to be in short supply over the past decade, and we won't have to wait long to get fresh financials. Oracle reports its fiscal fourth-quarter results shortly after Monday's market close.

Growth has slowed at Oracle. Analysts see revenue climbing 4% for the quarter and the entire fiscal year. That's not a fluke. It should be the 11th consecutive fiscal year in which revenue fails to grow by at least 5%. And that's not the only thing that seems to be unimpressive at Oracle. The same company that routinely managed expectations to deliver market-thumping bottom-line results proved mortal last time. It missed Wall Street's profit target, and analysts are bracing for a year-over-year decline in this week's report.

Beyond Air

A much smaller but still potentially problematic company reporting earnings this week is Beyond Air. The clinical-stage medical-device company is pinning its hopes on a successful rollout of LungFit, a treatment device for persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (or PPHN, for short). It ran into some regulatory delays last year, missing its goal of a commercial launch in 2021.

Clinical studies have been largely positive, but Beyond Air is running into a few obstacles. It created a chief medical officer position six months ago, and it's already on its second executive in that role. It has also posted larger-than-expected losses in its last three quarters, a bad omen heading into Thursday's financial update. Beyond Air still has a cash-rich balance sheet, but like most early stage biopharmaceutical companies, it's burning through a lot of dough. It may have to raise money at the worst possible time with the market under pressure.

Blink Charging

There's no denying that electric vehicles are the future, but investors hungry for pick-and-shovel plays may be short-circuiting their prospects by betting on the third-party companies specializing in charging stations. This remains a cutthroat niche, and it's too soon to predict winners.

Blink Charging shares have fallen 75% since peaking early last year, but the stock is still trading at a stiff 24 times trailing revenue. I have been correct in 24 of the past 34 weeks.Where do I go to next? I see Oracle, Beyond Air, and Blink Charging as stocks you may want to consider steering clear of this week. Let's go over my near-term concerns with all three investments.OracleTime hasn't been kind to one of the titans of enterprise software. The heady growth and Larry Ellison's cockiness appear to be in short supply over the past decade, and we won't have to wait long to get fresh financials. Oracle reports its fiscal fourth-quarter results shortly after Monday's market close.Growth has slowed at Oracle. It missed Wall Street's profit target, and analysts are bracing for a year-over-year decline in this week's report.Beyond AirA much smaller but still potentially problematic company reporting earnings this week is Beyond Air. The clinical-stage medical-device company is pinning its hopes on a successful rollout of LungFit, a treatment device for persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (or PPHN, for short). It ran into some regulatory delays last year, missing its goal of a commercial launch in 2021.Clinical studies have been largely positive, but Beyond Air is running into a few obstacles. It may have to raise money at the worst possible time with the market under pressure.Blink ChargingThere's no denying that electric vehicles are the future, but investors hungry for pick-and-shovel plays may be short-circuiting their prospects by betting on the third-party companies specializing in charging stations. This remains a cutthroat niche, and it's too soon to predict winners.Blink Charging shares have fallen 75% since peaking early last year, but the stock is still trading at a stiff 24 times trailing revenue. Analysts don't see Blink Charging turning a profit until 2026, and by then we'll probably be looking at a much different landscape when it comes to the leaders of fast-charging stations. A lot can and will happen in the next four years. Did you think the largest maker of electric cars would be announcing layoffs of its salaried staff this year? Blue skies are looking a little gray, and just because you see lightning doesn't mean third-party charging kiosks will ever be profitable. It's going to be a bumpy road for some of these investments. If you're looking for safe stocks, you aren't likely to find them in Oracle, Beyond Air, or Blink Charging this week.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1284,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9056447007,"gmtCreate":1655079094609,"gmtModify":1676535556433,"author":{"id":"3570272942006173","authorId":"3570272942006173","name":"Raz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f9ea187e9aeaaf216b9012645f7a0d31","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570272942006173","authorIdStr":"3570272942006173"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9056447007","repostId":"2243229805","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1098,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9056153964,"gmtCreate":1654989672959,"gmtModify":1676535541496,"author":{"id":"3570272942006173","authorId":"3570272942006173","name":"Raz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f9ea187e9aeaaf216b9012645f7a0d31","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570272942006173","authorIdStr":"3570272942006173"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9056153964","repostId":"2242635344","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2242635344","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1654916290,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2242635344?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2022-06-11 10:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"2 Stocks to Buy and Hold Through Any Market Downturn","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2242635344","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These two companies have a couple of crucial qualities in common.","content":"

Some investments are better equipped to survive recessions and market corrections than others. That should keep Micron going strong for the long run, come chip shortages or low waters.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1249,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9058703484,"gmtCreate":1654902325448,"gmtModify":1676535528930,"author":{"id":"3570272942006173","authorId":"3570272942006173","name":"Raz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f9ea187e9aeaaf216b9012645f7a0d31","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570272942006173","authorIdStr":"3570272942006173"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9058703484","repostId":"1151496939","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":786,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9058164101,"gmtCreate":1654816548803,"gmtModify":1676535514001,"author":{"id":"3570272942006173","authorId":"3570272942006173","name":"Raz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f9ea187e9aeaaf216b9012645f7a0d31","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570272942006173","authorIdStr":"3570272942006173"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Same pattern every single month","listText":"Same pattern every single month","text":"Same pattern every single month","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9058164101","repostId":"2242631833","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1121,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9051586886,"gmtCreate":1654728058345,"gmtModify":1676535497030,"author":{"id":"3570272942006173","authorId":"3570272942006173","name":"Raz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f9ea187e9aeaaf216b9012645f7a0d31","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570272942006173","authorIdStr":"3570272942006173"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9051586886","repostId":"2241839291","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2241839291","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1654701621,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2241839291?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2022-06-08 23:20","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Goldman Sachs: Buy These 2 Stocks Before They Surge Over 40%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2241839291","media":"TipRanks","summary":"Uncertainty has been the name of the game in 2022. A combination of negative macro developments – a slowing global economy, the geopolitical ramifications following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and - possibly most of all - the prospect of the Fed seriously tightening its monetary policy to combat inflation – have all been weighing heavily on investors’ minds. That doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t good opportunities to take advantage of right now. The analysts at banking giant Goldman Sachs have pinpointed two names which have recently outperformed market expectations and which they believe are set to surge ahead even in the face of the unhospitable current environment – by the order of 40% or more.We ran both tickers through the TipRanks database to see what the rest of the Street has in mind for the pair. Let’s take a look at the findings.Pure Storage The first stock on Goldman Sachs' radar is Pure Storage, a provider of various data storage products. The company’s flash-based solutions come both in software and hardware form and are used in data centers. The company began by using third-party solid-state drives (SSDs) for its storage solutions. However, its own proprietary hardware soon replaced those SSDs and the company also brought into the market integrated deduplication, compression, and artificial intelligence software to help businesses conserve space and set up their devices properly.Pure Storage has formed a strong partnership with Meta, having assisted in the development of the initial version of its AI research infrastructure in 2017. Since then, the pair have continued working together and earlier this year the two began a collaboration on Meta's new AI Research SuperCluster (RSC), which Meta claims will be the fastest AI supercomputer in the world.Like most tech stocks, Pure has found 2022 hard going but that hasn’t stopped the company from delivering the goods in its latest quarterly report. In F1Q23, revenue rose by 50.3% year-over-year to reach $620.4 million, handily beating the $521.74 million Wall Street expected. Similarly, on the bottom-line, adj. EPS of $0.25 came in well above the $0.05 consensus estimate. The company delivered on the outlook too, expecting revenue of roughly $635 Million in FQ2 vs. consensus at $604.64 million. For the full year, sales are anticipated to reach $2.66 Billion. Analysts had that figure at $2.59 billion.Along with the company’s exemplary execution, it is the Meta collab which informs Goldman analyst Rod Hall’s bullish thesis.“We see this Meta opportunity as a strong revenue tailwind for Pure looking forward in FY’23. We also see ongoing strong results as an indication that Pure’s products are gaining an increasing following among enterprise and service provider customers,” the analyst opined. “At this point we see Pure’s supply management as superior to most other companies in our coverage in the IT hardware area.”The bullish comments underpin Hall’s Buy rating while his $50 price target makes room for one-year gains of 79%.Overall, PSTG has attracted a total of 10 analyst reviews recently, including 7 Buys and 3 Holds for a Moderate Buy consensus rating from the Street. PSTG shares are priced at $27.90 and have an average price target of $38, giving the stock a 36% upside on the one-year time frame.Lululemon Athletica From tech we will pivot over to an entirely different sector. Everyone knows Lululemon - the athleisure specialist. The company got its beginnings in 1998 as a yoga pants and other yoga clothing retailer, but has since evolved to include athletic wear, lifestyle clothes, personal care products and all manner of accessories. Lululemon now has over 570 stores spread across the globe while it has also built a strong online presence. In apparel, the company has been rated as the world's fourth most valuable brand.Lululemon was one of the Covid era stars as people stayed at home and slipped into more comfortable wear, while the company even managed to overcome the closure of physical stores by shifting sales online. While not immune to the market’s overall downturn, Lululemon appears to have managed well in the face of new challenges, namely the supply chain issues which have impacted so many in recent times. This was evident in the company’s latest earnings report - for F1Q22.Lululemon generated revenue of $1.6 billion, a 32% increase on the same period a year ago, while diluted EPS hit $1.48. Both were above the analysts’ forecast of $1.55 billion and $1.43, respectively. There was more good news for the outlook. For FQ2, Lululemon sees revenue coming in the range between $1.750 billion to $1.775 billion, above consensus of $1.73 billion. And the company also raised its revenue and EPS outlook for the full year.Surveying the print, Goldman Sachs analyst Brooke Roach is thoroughly impressed. She writes, “We come away from the quarter with increased conviction in LULU’s strong brand engine fueled by innovation. While industry cost pressures are weighing on margin flow-through (where airfreight pressures have lowered full year margin outlook modestly), we continue to see this idiosyncratic growth story as well-positioned to navigate a tough backdrop as the company has meaningful pricing power, strong consumer connection, and less exposure to inflating AUCs (average unit cost).”Accordingly, Roach rates the stock a Buy, backed by a $456 price target. Going by this target, shares are expected to climb 48% higher over the one-year timeframe.Looking at the consensus breakdown, the majority of analysts are bullish on LULU's prospects, too; 19 Buys and 7 Holds add up to a Moderate Buy consensus rating.
