a large drop in pricing in Q4’21 and in the early days of 2022.

Shares of Palantir are not overvalued, they trade at 16X FY 2025 projected free cash flow.

Commercial revenue acceleration, new product launches, expansion of the free cash flow margin and potential SPAC deal pay-offs support Palantir’s valuation.

The new year is just fourteen days old and shares of Palantir (PLTR) already fell 12%, continuing a sell-off that started back in November 2021. I don't see any good reason or justification for the sell-off as Palantir will continue to grow its top line rapidly and new service offerings are set to fuel the firm's commercial growth. That Palantir is overvalued, is a myth!

Commercial revenue growth could accelerate as new products launch

There are few industries that have as fantastic growth prospects as the big data and analytics industry. Companies are accumulating more and more data from customers and their operations, requiring software solutions and artificial intelligence support to monetize this data most efficiently.

What am I most excited about, as a Palantir investor, is Palantir's opening of a new growth frontier in the big data world. Palantir will start to roll out its "Foundry for Crypto" in FY 2022 which offers banks, FinTechs and other companies involved in the crypto economy a way to validate customer information and to implement anti-money laundering tools. Since the crypto universe is still highly unregulated, Palantir's Foundry for Crypto could make a big difference in legitimizing this industry.

Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies are here to stay and Palantir has a huge opportunity at its hands to develop a multi-million-dollar revenue business within a very short period of time. Key customers for Palantir's Foundry for Crypto are likely going to be financial institutions and crypto trading marketplaces like Coinbase (COIN) which have massive customer bases. Adoption of Palantir's Foundry for Crypto platform by leading market institutions could materially accelerate Palantir's commercial revenue growth.

Because of the opening of a new business segment, I see strong prospects for revenue acceleration for Palantir in the foreseeable future. Palantir's commercial revenue growth accelerated throughout FY 2021 due to strong customer acquisition and growing adoption of the firm's products and services. Palantir's commercial revenue growth accelerated from 19% in Q1'21 to 28% in Q2'21, and then to 37% in Q3'21. Palantir's revenue acceleration in the commercial business was the reason why Palantir raised its free cash flow and revenue guidance for FY 2021. Because the commercial segment is growing increasingly fast, Palantir already raised its free cash flow outlook twice in FY 2021. The firm now expects free cash flow of $400M+ for FY 2021, after raising the guidance by 33% in Q3'21.

Palantir is not overvalued based on expected free cash flow ramp

Palantir's business reached a critical point in FY 2021 and the proof is in the company's growing free cash flow margins. As the firm scales its services and leads more customers through its onboarding process, Palantir should see a significant improvement of its free cash flow margin going forward. Palantir's Q3'21 free cash flow was $119M which calculates to a free cash flow margin of 30%. I believe Palantir could grow its free cash flow margin to 40% by 2025, meaning the firm is set to become a seriously profitable business within the next four years.I also expect Palantir to grow revenues faster than the 30% that have been mentioned as a long-term growth target. The reason for this is that Palantir is signing on more customers and those customers spend more money on the firm's products and services over time, meaning monetization is improving. Assuming that Palantir can grow revenues at an annual 35% rate over the next four years, Palantir is looking at $5.0B in revenues and $2.0B in free cash flow by FY 2025. The calculation below is built on the assumption that Palantir's free cash flow margin will grow from 30% in FY 2021 to 40% by FY 2025. Over the next four years, Palantir should be able to increase its annual free cash flow by at least a factor of 4 X.And investors should not forget about this potentially massive income stream…

The "forgotten" SPAC business

Palantir has come up with a clever revenue growth strategy that combines upside in SPAC investments with long-term software servicing contracts. Palantir is committing investing capital to startups that look to finance growth and, in return, the company gets equity and a signed contract for the provision of its software platforms. I rarely see this business discussed, but it presents considerable valuation upside for Palantir. In Q3'21, the firm's total investments in startups summarized to $226.5M. Palantir only needs one big exit from one of these SPAC investments listed below to generate a massive windfall.Risks with Palantir

The biggest risk for shares of Palantir, as I see it, is continual selling pressure that is the result of a profound misunderstanding related to how the firm's business model works in practice. Palantir's business is evolving and progress is measurable and undeniable. The proof is in Palantir's improving free cash flow margin and accelerating (commercial) revenue growth. Revenues can only accelerate if more companies adopt Palantir's services. Customers are also growing their platform spend, meaning each customer that signs with Palantir is going to have a higher value for the firm in the future, unless they cancel their relationship of course. Since the business had a net customer add of 34 in Q3'21, there is no evidence that customers are unhappy with the services they receive. Palantir's total customer base increased at a massive 20% rate quarter over quarter in Q3'21, proving significant momentum in customer sign-ups.

I am willing to change my opinion on Palantir if the firm's actual revenue growth rates and free cash flow margins drop below my estimates.

Final thoughts

Based off of free cash flow estimates, which do not include pay-offs from SPAC divestments, shares of Palantir trade at 16 X FY 2025 projected free cash flow, assuming a 10 PP FCF margin improvement in the next four years. This margin improvement could result from the launch of new high-margin products like Foundry for Crypto, the accelerating roll-out of Foundry for Builders and higher product spend on a per-customer basis. It is a myth that Palantir is overvalued and the stock has considerable rebound potential in FY 2022!

","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Palantir: The Myth Of Overvaluation
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nPalantir: The Myth Of Overvaluation\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-16 09:09 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
SummaryPalantir went through a large drop in pricing in Q4’21 and in the early days of 2022.Shares of Palantir are not overvalued, they trade at 16X FY 2025 projected free cash flow.Commercial revenue...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PLTR":"Palantir Technologies Inc."},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4479733-palantir-the-myth-of-overvaluation","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/5a36db9d73b4222bc376d24ccc48c8a4","article_id":"1169852230","content_text":"SummaryPalantir went through a large drop in pricing in Q4’21 and in the early days of 2022.Shares of Palantir are not overvalued, they trade at 16X FY 2025 projected free cash flow.Commercial revenue acceleration, new product launches, expansion of the free cash flow margin and potential SPAC deal pay-offs support Palantir’s valuation. The new year is just fourteen days old and shares of Palantir (PLTR) already fell 12%, continuing a sell-off that started back in November 2021. Palantir's total customer base increased at a massive 20% rate quarter over quarter in Q3'21, proving significant momentum in customer sign-ups.I am willing to change my opinion on Palantir if the firm's actual revenue growth rates and free cash flow margins drop below my estimates.Final thoughtsBased off of free cash flow estimates, which do not include pay-offs from SPAC divestments, shares of Palantir trade at 16 X FY 2025 projected free cash flow, assuming a 10 PP FCF margin improvement in the next four years. This margin improvement could result from the launch of new high-margin products like Foundry for Crypto, the accelerating roll-out of Foundry for Builders and higher product spend on a per-customer basis. It is a myth that Palantir is overvalued and the stock has considerable rebound potential in FY 2022!","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":276,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9006436273,"gmtCreate":1641814162842,"gmtModify":1676533650028,"author":{"id":"3570624615389043","authorId":"3570624615389043","name":"flamingdino","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c8effc5389a5f433a89c5f59c6b0462f","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570624615389043","authorIdStr":"3570624615389043"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9006436273","repostId":"1189975890","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1189975890","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1641812590,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1189975890?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-10 19:03","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Beam Therapeutics shares surged more than 12% in premarket trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1189975890","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Beam Therapeutics shares surged more than 12% in premarket trading.Gene editing is the next phase of","content":"

Beam Therapeutics shares surged more than 12% in premarket trading.Gene editing is the next phase of genetic medicine, and another big step was just announced. Scrappy Novavax(NASDAQ:NVAX)is finally introducing its COVID vaccine around the world. How many billions will it receive? And we have a dark horse candidate in Vir Biotechnology(NASDAQ:VIR). In 2022 alone, Wall Street expects the pharma giant to rake in $55 billion in sales between its novel coronavirus vaccine, Comirnaty, and its oral antiviral pill, Paxlovid.

What's more, analysts are starting to warm up to the idea that Paxlovid might be a sustainable revenue generator for the company over the course of the current decade. When the drug was first allowed on the market by the Food and Drug Administration under the Emergency Use Authorization pathway last month, Wall Street thought Paxlovid would likely peak from a commercial standpoint within a year or so, and then experience a dramatic drop in sales as the pandemic faded from view.

But less than three weeks out from the drug's initial approval, it is becoming painfully obvious that Paxlovid will probably be required as a fail-safe against the worst outcomes from COVID-19 for several more years. The highly infectious omicron variant, after all, will certainly not be the last major iteration of the virus.

What this all means is that Pfizer ought to be one of the few large-cap drugmakers with a sizable, long-term COVID-19 revenue source. Pfizer, in turn, should have ample free cash flows to feed its generous shareholder reward program, as well as its ambitious business development plans, for the foreseeable future.

So, if you're looking for a stock that can weather the dual headwinds of sky-high inflation and rising interest rates, Pfizer might be worth checking out.

Revenue forecasts for Novavax: $2 billion to $8 billion

Taylor Carmichael(Novavax):Novavax is on the verge of greatness this year. The company's stock price is down to $125 a share. That's where it started in 2021, so last year was pretty much a washout for the stock.

Back in February the share price zoomed over $300 when Novavax reported positive phase 3 data for its COVID vaccine. But then the small biotech ran into manufacturing issues. While its vaccine is said by many to be the best in class, scaling up the contract manufacturing for an estimated 2 billion doses of vaccine is easier said than done. And those realities have caused the stock to drop about 60% off its highs.

Nonetheless, Novavax has already hit the $1 billion revenue mark, so its vaccine was a blockbuster even before it was approved, because of all the preorders. Now that authorizations are pouring in from around the globe, it's highly likely that Novavax will ship a massive number of vaccine doses in 2022. The company's already achieved a manufacturing capacity of 100 million doses a month, or 1.2 billion doses in a year. On the third-quarter earnings call, management predicted it would reach a manufacturing capacity of 150 million doses every month (or 1.8 billion doses a year) by the end of the fourth quarter. And the company expects to continue to scale and forecasts that it will distribute 2 billion doses in 2022.

Two billion doses of vaccine, at a price point of $16 (Operation Warp Speed paid $1.6 billion to pre-order 100 million doses) gives us a back-of-the-envelope calculation of $32 billion in revenue. Of course, Novavax will be distributing a lot of vaccines to the developing world at a reduced rate. While the company has been quiet about its prices, Denmark said back in August that it paid almost $21 a dose under the European Union (EU) agreement. The EU has ordered 200 million doses, so that's over $4 billion in sales, just in Europe.

Analysts are being extremely conservative, with a forecast ranging from $2 billion to $8 billion for Novavax in 2022. (The company's market cap sits at $9 billion.) While there may be hiccups along the way, Novavax is sure to make billions of dollars off its COVID-19 vaccine in 2022. And there could be significant upside to the stock if the company does indeed deliver 2 billion doses as it says it will.

The antibody market all to itself

Patrick Bafuma(Vir Biotechnology):The omicron variant is currently running rampant, and this time, we are short a few treatments. Previously favored monoclonal antibody treatments from Eli Lilly (bamlanivimab plus etesevimab) as well as the REGEN-COV cocktail from RocheandRegeneron are believed to have marked diminished activity against the current variant. This leaves a single infusiont hought to be active against omicron--GlaxoSmithKline and Vir Biotechnology's sotrovimab. This monoclonal antibody previously demonstrated a reduced risk of hospitalization and death by 79% in adults with mild to moderate COVID-19 and at high risk of progression to severe disease. And it's the only one left right now to fight the omicron variant.

Being the sole monoclonal antibody on the block will have its privileges. Through the first nine months of 2021, REGEN-COV brought in $3.5 billion in net product sales, while Eli Lilly's antibody combination brought in $1.17 billion. The U.S. government has already contracted for approximately $1 billion worth of sotrovimab. With hospitals overflowing with patients, anything that can help alleviate some of the stress on the system is likely going to be highly sought after.

And while Pfizer's Paxlovid will be hugely beneficial to ease the COVID-19 burden on the healthcare system, the oral medication has significant and complex drug-drug interaction potential. In fact, its interaction list reads like a who's who of commonly prescribed medications. This includes popular blood thinning agents such as Plavix and Xarelto, common analgesics like Tramadol and oxycodone, anxiolytics like Klonopin and Xanax, as well as cholesterol-fighting statins. With the National Institutes of Health issuing a statement voicing its concern over Paxlovid's possible drug interactions, this leaves plenty of room for sotrovimab to continue to be widely prescribed. With Vir getting 72.5% of sotrovimab sales per its agreement with GSK, the $4.4 billion biotech looks like a bargain right now.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 COVID Stocks That Will Make Billions in 2022
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 COVID Stocks That Will Make Billions in 2022\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-08 11:29 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
It's a new year and COVID-19 is still with us. And it's the only one left right now to fight the omicron variant.Being the sole monoclonal antibody on the block will have its privileges. With Vir getting 72.5% of sotrovimab sales per its agreement with GSK, the $4.4 billion biotech looks like a bargain right now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":347,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9008442169,"gmtCreate":1641516452783,"gmtModify":1676533623832,"author":{"id":"3570624615389043","authorId":"3570624615389043","name":"flamingdino","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c8effc5389a5f433a89c5f59c6b0462f","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570624615389043","authorIdStr":"3570624615389043"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9008442169","repostId":"2201665872","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2201665872","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1641483107,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2201665872?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-06 23:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Game-Changing Stocks that Could Soar 61% to 99% in 2022, According to Wall Street","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2201665872","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Analysts look for explosive returns from these growth stocks.","content":"

No one really knows how much a given stock will go up or down in the future. The consensus 12-month price target for the stock reflects an upside potential of close to 99% above the current share price.

Sea's biggest shareholder doesn't appear to be as optimistic. Teladoc Health

Teladoc Health (NYSE:TDOC) performed abysmally in 2021, with its shares plunging more than 50%. on Friday","content":"
SHANGHAI/BEIJING, Jan 8 (Reuters) - China's top internet watchdog canvassed public opinion on Friday for a plan to update rules more than two decades old, aiming to widen oversight of online services to cover payment, shopping and livestreaming platforms.
\n
For the first time, the Cyberspace Administration of China defined \"internet information services\" within its purview to include offerings by such platforms, as well as those of news information providers and search engines.
\n
The move would \"promote the healthy and orderly development of Internet information services,\" it said on its official WeChat account.
\n
It would protect the rights and interests of citizens and organisations and safeguard national security and public interests, the regulator added.
\n
The plan, open for public consultation until Feb. 7, comes as China has ramped up scrutiny of its technology giants, reversing a once laissez-faire approach towards its vast internet space.
\n
\"Now becoming more specific is mainly to help administrative departments to enforce the rules in the real world,\" said Shi Yuhang, a lawyer with the Huiye Law Last year we saw Emergency Use Authorizations for multiple COVID vaccines and treatments across the healthcare space. Pharmaceutical companies are set to make billions of dollars in 2022. Here are three stocks that should thrive.

Pfizer(NYSE:PFE), the $310 billion mega cap, is expected to bring in not $1 billion or $10 billion but over $50 billion in sales for its COVID vaccine and antiviral pill. Scrappy Novavax(NASDAQ:NVAX)is finally introducing its COVID vaccine around the world. How many billions will it receive? And we have a dark horse candidate in Vir Biotechnology(NASDAQ:VIR). It has a drug that could easily be a $1 billion blockbuster for the tiny biotech.

A safe harbor in stormy weather

George Budwell(Pfizer):Pfizer is the undisputed champion of COVID-19 pharmaceutical products.

With Vir getting 72.5% of sotrovimab sales per its agreement with GSK, the $4.4 billion biotech looks like a bargain right now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":347,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9006436273,"gmtCreate":1641814162842,"gmtModify":1676533650028,"author":{"id":"3570624615389043","authorId":"3570624615389043","name":"flamingdino","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c8effc5389a5f433a89c5f59c6b0462f","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570624615389043","authorIdStr":"3570624615389043"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9006436273","repostId":"1189975890","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":298,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9005503598,"gmtCreate":1642334247837,"gmtModify":1676533701963,"author":{"id":"3570624615389043","authorId":"3570624615389043","name":"flamingdino","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c8effc5389a5f433a89c5f59c6b0462f","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570624615389043","authorIdStr":"3570624615389043"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Okays","listText":"Okays","text":"Okays","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9005503598","repostId":"1169852230","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":276,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9008442169,"gmtCreate":1641516452783,"gmtModify":1676533623832,"author":{"id":"3570624615389043","authorId":"3570624615389043","name":"flamingdino","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c8effc5389a5f433a89c5f59c6b0462f","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570624615389043","authorIdStr":"3570624615389043"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9008442169","repostId":"2201665872","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2201665872","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1641483107,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2201665872?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-06 23:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Game-Changing Stocks that Could Soar 61% to 99% in 2022, According to Wall Street","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2201665872","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Analysts look for explosive returns from these growth stocks.","content":"

No one really knows how much a given stock will go up or down in the future. The consensus 12-month price target for the stock reflects an upside potential of close to 99% above the current share price.

Sea's biggest shareholder doesn't appear to be as optimistic. The stock fell on Tuesday after Tencent Holdings sold 14.5 million shares of Sea Limited. However, Tencent could have other reasons to sell part of its stake that don't relate to Sea's prospects. And it still owns 18.8% of the company, so Tencent clearly isn't extremely bearish about Sea.

The facts seem to be on Wall Street's side in this case. The company's Shopee e-commerce platform was the top Google Play shopping app in Q3, based on time spent in the app. This success is also helping boost the SeaMoney mobile wallet.

2. Teladoc Health

Teladoc Health (NYSE:TDOC) performed abysmally in 2021, with its shares plunging more than 50%. But analysts think the healthcare stock could make a major comeback this year. One of those is an agreement to make the Primary360 virtual primary-care service available to Aetna's self-insured employers across the U.S.

Over the longer term, the virtual-care market could expand dramatically. Global consulting firm McKinsey & Company even estimates that up to $250 billion of U.S. healthcare spending could shift to virtual care. Even if that projection is overly optimistic, Teladoc should have a huge opportunity in the years to come.

3. MercadoLibre

MercadoLibre (NASDAQ:MELI) stands out as another Wall Street favorite that underwhelmed in 2021. The e-commerce stock fell nearly 20%. However, analysts foresee a much better new year: The consensus price target for MercadoLibre is more than 61% above the current share price.

There are plenty of reasons to believe that the analysts are right about this stock. MercadoLibre's business continues to fire on all cylinders.

In particular, gross merchandise volume on its flagship e-commerce platform jumped 29.7% year over year in Q3 on a constant-currency basis to $7.3 billion. That's especially impressive considering the tough comparisons versus 2020 with a surge in online shopping due to the pandemic.

MercadoLibre should have plenty of room to grow even more. Here’s one to be aware of for 2022: Value stocks will most likely beat their growth counterparts.

The trend is already under way. Consider:

* The Vanguard S&P 500 Growth Index exchange traded fund is down 5.6% year to date, while the Vanguard S&P 500 Value Index fund is flat.

* Value groups including banks and energy stocks are crushing growth stocks like Ark Invest’s favorite names. The KBW Bank Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF are up 6%. In contrast, the ARK Innovation ETF has slid over 13%. That ETF is filled with growth darlings like Tesla, Coinbase Global, Teladoc Health and Zoom Video Communications.

Here’s a look at four forces favoring value over growth, followed by 14 value stocks to consider, courtesy of two value investing experts.

A lot of investors value stocks using the net present value (NPV) model — especially high-growth stocks that have expected earnings in the distant future. This means they discount projected earnings back to the present using a discount rate, typically the yield on 10-year Treasuries. When the discount rate goes up, NPV goes down.

So naturally, when 10-year yields rise as they are now, expensive stocks in areas like tech underperform the cheapest stocks in areas like cyclicals, financials and energy, points RBC Capital Markets strategist Lori Calvasina.

Likewise, price-to-earnings (P/E) multiples of the most expensive stocks become inversely correlated with 10-year yields during Federal Reserve hiking cycles, she points out. The reverse is true for value stocks.

“The least expensive stocks have historically outperformed the most expensive stocks when the 10-year yield is rising,” she says.

Ed Yardeni at Yardeni Research projects the 10-year yield could rise to 2.5% by yearend, from around 1.79% now. If he is right, that suggests value outperformance will continue. Though there will be counter-rallies in growth and tech along the way (more on this below).

Here’s a chart from RBC Capital Markets showing that value historically outperforms as yields rise. The light blue line represents bond yields, and the dark blue line represents cheap stock performance relative to expensive stocks.

2. Higher inflation is positive for value strategies

This has historically been the case, points out John Buckingham, a value manager at Kovitz Investment Group who pens The Prudent Speculator stock letter. He expects a repeat now. Part of the reason is that inflation fears drive up the yield on 10-year bonds, creating the detrimental NPV effect for growth names (described above).

Inflation accelerated at the fastest pace in December since 1982, the government reported Wednesday. It was the third straight month in which inflation measured annually exceeded 6%.

But another factor is at work. During inflationary times, companies with actual earnings can boost profit margins by raising prices. As a group, value companies tend to be more mature, which means they have earnings and margins to improve. Investors notice this, so they’re attracted to those companies.

In contrast, growth names are characterized by expected earnings, so they benefit less from price hikes.

“Growth companies do not make money so they can’t improve margins,” says Buckingham. “They are paying employees more, but they are not making more money.”

Here’s a chart from Buckingham showing that value stocks historically outperform when inflation is high.

3. Value stocks do well after recessions

Historically, this has been the case, as you can see in the chart, below, from Bank of America. This is most likely because inflation and interest rates tend to rise during economic rebounds. Both trends are a negative for growth stocks relative to value, for the reasons outlined above.

4. Value stocks do better when Covid cases decline

This has been the case throughout the pandemic, as you can see in the graphic below from Bank of America. This is probably because when Covid cases decline, the prospects for the economy improve, which suggests inflation and interest rates will rise — both of which make growth lag value, historically. Omicron is spreading so fast, the case count is likely to peak by the end of January. So this effect may kick in soon.

In the chart below, the light-blue line is the Covid case count. The dark-blue line is the relative outperformance of growth to value. When the dark-blue line declines, it means value stocks are doing better than growth stocks.

Which stocks to favor

Cyclical names, banks, insurance companies and energy businesses populate the value camp. So those are the groups to consider.

Buckingham suggests these 12 names, most of which are in the sectors above: Citigroup, CVS Health, FedEx, General Motors, Kroger, MetLife, Omnicom Group, Pinnacle West Capital, Tyson Foods, Verizon, WestRock and Whirlpool.

Bruce Kaser of the Cabot Turnaround Letter counts Credit Suisse in banking and Dril-Quip in energy among his favorite names for 2022. He’s bullish on value stocks now that the enthusiasm for “concept stocks” has broken.

“Concept stocks get way over bid, and that is when value does the best,” he says.

While concept stocks founder, value companies continue to grind it out and post actual earnings, so money migrates to them. This is what happened for a long time, after the tech bubble burst years ago.

“After 2000, value outperformed for a decade,” he says.

No doubt, there will be countertrend reversals along the way.

“These rotations tend to wind down as both sides of the rotation get overplayed,” says Art Hogan, the chief strategist at National Securities.

Here’s a factor that might temporarily cool the rotation, near term. Here’s one to be aware of for 2022: Value stocks will most likely beat their growth counterparts. The trend is already under way. Consider:* The Vanguard S&P 500 Growth Index exchange traded fund is down 5.6% year to date, while the Vanguard S&P 500 Value Index fund is flat.* Value groups including banks and energy stocks are crushing growth stocks like Ark Invest’s favorite names. Here’s a look at four forces favoring value over growth, followed by 14 value stocks to consider, courtesy of two value investing experts.A lot of investors value stocks using the net present value (NPV) model — especially high-growth stocks that have expected earnings in the distant future. This means they discount projected earnings back to the present using a discount rate, typically the yield on 10-year Treasuries. When the discount rate goes up, NPV goes down.So naturally, when 10-year yields rise as they are now, expensive stocks in areas like tech underperform the cheapest stocks in areas like cyclicals, financials and energy, points RBC Capital Markets strategist Lori Calvasina.Likewise, price-to-earnings (P/E) multiples of the most expensive stocks become inversely correlated with 10-year yields during Federal Reserve hiking cycles, she points out. The reverse is true for value stocks.“The least expensive stocks have historically outperformed the most expensive stocks when the 10-year yield is rising,” she says.Ed Yardeni at Yardeni Research projects the 10-year yield could rise to 2.5% by yearend, from around 1.79% now. If he is right, that suggests value outperformance will continue. Though there will be counter-rallies in growth and tech along the way (more on this below). Here’s a chart from RBC Capital Markets showing that value historically outperforms as yields rise. The light blue line represents bond yields, and the dark blue line represents cheap stock performance relative to expensive stocks.2. Higher inflation is positive for value strategiesThis has historically been the case, points out John Buckingham, a value manager at Kovitz Investment Group who pens The Prudent Speculator stock letter. He expects a repeat now. Part of the reason is that inflation fears drive up the yield on 10-year bonds, creating the detrimental NPV effect for growth names (described above).Inflation accelerated at the fastest pace in December since 1982, the government reported Wednesday. It was the third straight month in which inflation measured annually exceeded 6%.But another factor is at work. During inflationary times, companies with actual earnings can boost profit margins by raising prices. As a group, value companies tend to be more mature, which means they have earnings and margins to improve. Investors notice this, so they’re attracted to those companies. In contrast, growth names are characterized by expected earnings, so they benefit less from price hikes.“Growth companies do not make money so they can’t improve margins,” says Buckingham. “They are paying employees more, but they are not making more money.”Here’s a chart from Buckingham showing that value stocks historically outperform when inflation is high.3. Value stocks do well after recessionsHistorically, this has been the case, as you can see in the chart, below, from Bank of America. This is most likely because inflation and interest rates tend to rise during economic rebounds. Both trends are a negative for growth stocks relative to value, for the reasons outlined above.4. Value stocks do better when Covid cases declineThis has been the case throughout the pandemic, as you can see in the graphic below from Bank of America. This is probably because when Covid cases decline, the prospects for the economy improve, which suggests inflation and interest rates will rise — both of which make growth lag value, historically. Omicron is spreading so fast, the case count is likely to peak by the end of January. So this effect may kick in soon.In the chart below, the light-blue line is the Covid case count. The dark-blue line is the relative outperformance of growth to value. When the dark-blue line declines, it means value stocks are doing better than growth stocks.Which stocks to favorCyclical names, banks, insurance companies and energy businesses populate the value camp. So those are the groups to consider.Buckingham suggests these 12 names, most of which are in the sectors above: Citigroup, CVS Health, FedEx, General Motors, Kroger, MetLife, Omnicom Group, Pinnacle West Capital, Tyson Foods, Verizon, WestRock and Whirlpool.Bruce Kaser of the Cabot Turnaround Letter counts Credit Suisse in banking and Dril-Quip in energy among his favorite names for 2022. He’s bullish on value stocks now that the enthusiasm for “concept stocks” has broken.“Concept stocks get way over bid, and that is when value does the best,” he says. While concept stocks founder, value companies continue to grind it out and post actual earnings, so money migrates to them. This is what happened for a long time, after the tech bubble burst years ago.“After 2000, value outperformed for a decade,” he says.No doubt, there will be countertrend reversals along the way.“These rotations tend to wind down as both sides of the rotation get overplayed,” says Art Hogan, the chief strategist at National Securities. Here’s a factor that might temporarily cool the rotation, near term. Investors are about to learn that first-quarter growth is taking a hit because Omicron quarantines are hurting companies. This news on economic growth may reduce the fears about inflation and rising interest rates sparking the migration to value. But Omicron is so contagious, it will probably go as fast as it came. That’s what we see in countries struck early on, like South Africa and Britain. Then factors like stimulus, an inventory build, and strong consumer and corporate balance sheets will revive growth. This would mean the growth-value dichotomy will continue this year — since three of the four main forces driving the trend are linked to strong growth.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":277,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":373668140,"gmtCreate":1618843131380,"gmtModify":1704715784167,"author":{"id":"3570624615389043","authorId":"3570624615389043","name":"flamingdino","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c8effc5389a5f433a89c5f59c6b0462f","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570624615389043","authorIdStr":"3570624615389043"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gg tesla","listText":"Gg tesla","text":"Gg tesla","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/373668140","repostId":"1190378182","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1190378182","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1618839799,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1190378182?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-19 21:43","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla's stock fell more than 4% after reports of fatal crash of vehicle with apparently no driver","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1190378182","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Tesla's stock fell more than 4% in Monday morning trading after reports of fatal crash of vehicle wi","content":"
Tesla's stock fell more than 4% in Monday morning trading after reports of fatal crash of vehicle with apparently no driver.

Police officials in Texasprobing the deadly crash of a Tesla vehiclesay they are nearly certain that no one was behind the wheel at the time.
