Those concerns certainly appear to be overblown in retrospect. The entertainment giant now reigns as a leader in streaming TV with Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu.
\n
I think that Disney's impressive streaming success underscores two reasons why the stock remains one to buy and hold for the long run. First, the value of the company's existing content library and capability to generate new content should never be underestimated. Second, Disney will always expand into new arenas to reach a wider audience. And when it does, the company nearly always does it right.
\n
While Disney is a great long-term pick, it appears to be poised to win over the short term as well. More Disney theme parks are reopening as pandemic fears subside. The company's delayed movie debuts will be shown in theaters that could actually have large audiences in them in the not-too-distant future. Even Disney's cruise line will be back in business not too far down the road.
\n
The future of entertainment could change a lot over the coming decades. Augmented and virtual reality might take off in a massive way. Maybe one day you'll even be able to participate in the movies that you watch. Its financial position is exceptionally strong. It's delivered tremendous returns over the last two decades. And it has plenty of opportunities for future growth.
\n
To be sure, Intuitive Surgical faced some challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic. Non-urgent surgeries were delayed, resulting in Intuitive's consumable sales faltering. However, those were only temporary issues. The widespread availability of vaccines should help put the COVID-19 challenges to rest.
\n
In 2020, over 1.2 million procedures were performed using Intuitive Surgical's surgical robots. The company estimates that around 6 million procedures are done each year for which its technology already has regulatory clearances.
\n
That's just the tip of the iceberg for Intuitive's growth potential, though. Roughly 20 million soft-tissue surgeries are performed annually. As the company continues to innovate and win additional clearances, it will be able to target this larger market. Robotic surgery is still only in its early innings. Intuitive Surgical should be in a great position to dominate this expanding market for a long time to come.
\n
Mastercard
\n
Cash continues to go by the wayside. Mastercard (NYSE:MA) stands out as one of the best stocks to profit from this trend.
\n
The company, along with Visa, enjoys a duopoly in processing credit card payments. This gives Mastercard a strong revenue stream. It also gives the company a formidable moat. Those are two attributes that make for great long-term buy-and-hold stocks.
\n
Mastercard is expanding its payment processing infrastructure beyond just credit cards. It recently acquired the corporate services business of European payment technology leader Nets. This deal gives Mastercard a clearing and settlement infrastructure for account-to-account digital payments. The company is also introducing new contactless solutions that use its payment processing capabilities for credit cards without requiring physical cards.
\n
E-commerce will continue to gain momentum in the coming years. But chances are if you're a millennial or novice investor, you thrive off of volatility.
\n
Last year, online investing app Robinhood, which is best-known for its commission-free trades and gifting of free shares of stock to new members, picked up somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 million new users. This is noteworthy given that the average age of Robinhood's user base is only 31.
\n
Many of these young and/or novice investors have approached the market's wild vacillations as an opportunity to get rich quick. Unfortunately, chasing momentum and penny stocks has left many of these millennials with portfolios that contain awful companies.
\n
Of the 10 most-held stocks on Robinhood's platform, four could conceivably lose half their value, if not more.
\n
1. AMC Entertainment
\n
Movie theater operator AMC Entertainment(NYSE:AMC) is currently thethird most-held stock on the entire Robinhood platform. As you might already know, AMC has been one of the favorite stocks of Reddit's retail investor-focused WallStreetBets (WSB) chat community. These retail investors have banded together to buy shares and out-of-the-money call options on heavily short-sold stocks like AMC to effect a short squeeze. With AMC, they were highly successful in doing so.
\n
But if you're looking for sustainable, real-world catalysts that could support a large move higher in AMC's stock, you're not going to find any. The big positive for the company in 2021 is simply that it was able to raise $917 million through a combination of share offerings and debt capital to stave off bankruptcy. But this cash may ultimately not prevent the inevitable.
\n
AMC is currently held hostage by the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. Even with a major vaccination effort under way in the U.S., the effectiveness of these vaccines at slowing variants of the disease, along with the willingness of adults to be vaccinated, could determine whether or not movie theaters reopen, and at what capacity.
\n
What's more, AMC Entertainment's operating model is under direct threat from streaming operators.AT&T subsidiary WarnerMedia is releasing all of its films in 2021 on HBO Max the same day they're slated to hit theaters.Walt Disney is making a similar move with some of its releases on its Disney+ service. If consumers prefer the convenience of their couch,AMC's operating model is toast.
\n
2. Sundial Growers
\n
Canadianmarijuana stock Sundial Growers(NASDAQ:SNDL), the fourth most-held stock on the platform, could also lose 50% (or more) of its value. Though Sundial's short interest is nowhere near as high as AMC (as a percentage of float), it's become a favorite penny stock among the WSB community.
\n
Aside from relentless social media pumping from retail investors, the most tangible positive for Sundial is its balance sheet. Following the exercising of 98.3 million warrants last months, along with its investment in Indiva, I'd estimate the company has $680 million in available cash. If the U.S. were to legalize cannabis at the federal level, thereby paving the way for Canadian pot stocks to enter the far more lucrative U.S. market, this capital would come in handy.
\n
Then again, Sundial's cash hoard was built on the backs of its shareholders. In a five-month stretch, Sundial's share offerings, exercising of warrants, and debt-to-equity swapsincreased the company's outstanding share countby more than 1.1 billion. In more than two decades of investing, it's some of the worst share-based dilution I've witnessed. Worse yet, it's probably not over. The company's board OK'd a shelf offering that would allow the company to issue up to $1 billion in securities over time.
\n
Despite being in a fast-growing industry, Sundial might also be one of the last pot stocks to generate a profit. The company is in the midst of an operating model shift from wholesale cannabis to retail, whichputs it well behind its peersat a time when most North American cannabis stocks are turning the corner to profitability.
\n
3. NIO
\n
Electric-vehicle (EV) stocks have been virtually unstoppable for the past year, which is a big reason millennials and novice investors have piled into China-based NIO(NYSE:NIO).
\n
The fifth most-held stock on Robinhood delivered 43,728 EVs in 2020, which is more than double the 20,565 EVs delivered the year prior. It's also on pace todeliver 20,000 to 20,500 EVs just in the first quarter of 2021. Since China is the leading EV market in the world, and projections call for roughly half of all new vehicle sales in 2035 to be some form of alternative energy, NIO could effectively clean up with its innovative lineup.
\n
Then again, we're talking about a company with a $61 billion market cap that's delivered 88,444 cumulative EVs since its inception. Some brand-nameauto stockscan produce this many vehicles in a week, or less. With NIO still in the process of ramping up its operations, losses have been and should continue to be an eyesore. Last year, NIO's nearly $813 million loss was a bit bigger than Wall Street had been expecting.
\n
NIO is also expected toface an influx of domestic and foreign competition. That's not great news given that the auto industry generally produces only mediocre vehicle margins, at best.
\n
Furthermore, retail investors are notorious for overestimating the introduction and adoption of next-big-thing investments. While there's no doubt that EVs will play a big role in future transportation, NIO hasn't even demonstrated that it can truly scale yet.
\n
4. GameStop
\n
Lastly, the Reddit stock that started the retail investor frenzy,GameStop(NYSE:GME), chimes in as the 10th most-held Robinhood stock. Like AMC, itwas targeted by the WSB communityfor its exceptionally high short interest, relative to float. None of the Reddit rallies was more pronounced than GameStop's, which took its stock from $18 a share to nearly $500.
\n
But like the other top-10 Robinhood holdings here, GameStop's nosebleed valuation simply doesn't match up with its underlying fundamentals or outlook. For example, even though e-commerce sales during the holiday season advanced 309% from the prior-year period, total sales still declined by 3.1%. This is a reflection of GameStop closing 11% of its stores from the prior-year period.
\n
The clear issue for the company is that it's brick-and-mortar-based in an increasingly digital world. GameStop waited far too long to begin its shift to digital gaming, and closing stores to cut costs is its only real game plan at this point. More than likely, GameStop is staring down a fourth consecutive annual loss this year.
\n
Though short-term investor emotions are impossible to predict, GameStop, NIO, Sundial, and AMC could all easily lose 50% (or more) of their value at some point in the not-so-distant future.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 of Robinhood's Top 10 Stocks Could Lose 50% (or More)
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 of Robinhood's Top 10 Stocks Could Lose 50% (or More)\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-03-08 19:04 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Millennial and novice investors could be in for a rude awakening.\nThis past week was a clear reminder that volatility is always present in the stock market, and it can pop up when you least expect it....
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"SNDL":"SNDL Inc.","NIO":"蔚来","AMC":"AMC院线","GME":"游戏驿站"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/03/08/4-robinhoods-top-10-stocks-could-lose-50-or-more/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1105965115","content_text":"Millennial and novice investors could be in for a rude awakening.\nThis past week was a clear reminder that volatility is always present in the stock market, and it can pop up when you least expect it. Did fundamentals flash the red light to investors, who were thronging to the stock in droves ahead of the current downturn?

The 2020 Highs: The COVID-19 pandemic, which broke out at the end of 2019 and ravaged the global economies for much of 2020, proved a blessing for some companies that benefited from the adversity.

Nio, a luxury EV maker, should have taken a big hit in the year, as cash-strapped users preferred to hold back on big-ticket buys. The stock is now in bear market territory, having pulled back 35.7 % from the Feb. 10 high of $64.60.Is the sell-off in the shares justified? Did fundamentals flash the red light to investors, who were thronging to the stock in droves ahead of the current downturn? The 2020 Highs: The COVID-19 pandemic, which broke out at the end of 2019 and ravaged the global economies for much of 2020, proved a blessing for some companies that benefited from the adversity.Nio, a luxury EV maker, should have taken a big hit in the year, as cash-strapped users preferred to hold back on big-ticket buys. The company did have its momentum of despair in the first two months of 2020. Not bogged down by the adverse geopolitical milieu, the EV startup chose to be proactive instead. The company announced several innovative product andservice offerings.Deliveries continued to climb through the year, with Nio's charismatic CEO William Bin attributing the strength to the growing recognition of its premium brand, the competitive and compelling products and services, the expanding sales network, and most importantly, the support from its passionate and loyal user community. For 2020, Nio delivered 43,728 vehicles, an increase of 111% year-over-year.The company also managed to rein in costs, giving margins a lift. It also succeeded in mobilizing finances through a combination of equity, debt and strategic investments, removing a key existential risk it faced in 2019.Promptly the stock began discounting the fundamental improvement and closed out 2020 with a gain in excess of 1,100%. The strong rally stretched valuation to levels, with some skeptics beginning to question the irrational exuberance in the stock.Fundamentals, Stock Pause At Start of 2021: Nio had a strong start to the year, as it continued to clock record monthly deliveries in January. The stock raced to a record high of $66.99 on Jan. 11, as it reacted to the announcements the company made at the annual Nio Day held on Jan. 10.Thereafter, it has been a bumpy ride for the stock. Since the start of February, the stock has been caught in the vortex of the tech sell-off. Incidentally, market leader and EV pioneerTesla, Inc.TSLAwas not spared either. Since the all-time split-adjusted high of $900.40 hit in late January, Tesla shares have given back over 30%.Nio investors were pinning their hopes on a stellar fourth-quarter report to lift the stock from the depressed levels. It was not to be. The stock continued to bleed despite the EV maker reporting $1 billion revenues for the quarter and seeing an expansion in gross margins.Naysayers were quick to highlight the wider-than-expected loss and the month-over-month drop in deliveries. As outlined by Deutsche Bank Securities analyst Edison Yu, the underperformance on the bottom line had to do with forex losses, engendered by a weaker dollar.Although initially Nio did not explain away the February softness, it later clarified in a blog post the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday that fell in the month played spoilsport.\"The majority of the employees receive seven days off work as a public holiday to spend time with their families, though the celebrations can last for more than two weeks nationwide. Most of the factories were shut down for weeks, and many products that rely on shipping and manufacturing might have been delayed,\" Nio said in the post.Is Recovery In The Cards: The company has several catalysts ahead, including the launch of its first sedan, named ET7, and its plan to expand into Europe this year. The company is also making solid progress with respect to its advanced driver-assisted system, battery technology and battery swapping stations. With the increasing uptake of its battery-as-a-service offering and its recently announced autonomous driving-as-a-service, the company has laid the groundwork for recurrent revenue streams. This apart, the attractive market opportunity presented by the burgeoning EV market, both domestically and globally, will prove salubrious for the company. IDC estimates that smartphone shipments jumped 4.3% year-over-year last quarter to 385.9 million units, paving the way for a strong recovery in 2021 after a 5.9% decline in shipments last year.

Skyworks Solutions(NASDAQ: $(SWKS)$)andMicron Technology(NASDAQ: $(MU)$)are two stocks that are already taking advantage of this turnaround, as they manufacture chips that go into 5G (fifth-generation) smartphones. Skyworks is witnessingtremendous growthin its mobile business, while Micron is about to join the party as well. These factors have contributed to a strong start on the market this year. These chipmakers are unlikely to lose their impressive stock market momentum in the coming months, as 5G smartphone sales are expected to switch into a higher gear in 2021.Gartnerforecasts that global 5G smartphone shipments could jump to nearly 539 million units this year and account for 35% of the overall market. This would be a huge jump over last year's 5G smartphone shipments of 213 million units, and pave the way for stronger growth in Skyworks and Micron's mobile businesses in 2021.

1. Skyworks Solutions' mobile business is on a roll

Skyworks' mobile business is its biggest source of revenue, accounting for 78% of its top line last quarter. Skyworks' mobile revenue shot up 81% year-over-year in the first quarter of fiscal 2021, which ended on Jan. 1, 2021, to $1.18 billion.Apple(NASDAQ: AAPL)-- Skyworks' largest customer, generating 56% of total revenue --hit goldwith its latest flagship devices, and that sent the chipmaker's mobile business soaring.

The Apple catalyst is here to stay for Skyworks for the remainder of the year, for a couple of reasons. First, Apple is expected to remain atop 5G smartphone supplierin 2021 thanks to a large base of users in an upgrade window. Apple's well-priced iPhone 12 lineup and the possibility ofan entry-level devicesupporting the latest wireless standard could help the smartphone giant record strong shipment gains in 2021.

Second, Skyworks is a key Apple supplier. It reportedly supplies as many as eight radio-frequency (RF) modules for the iPhone 12, so Skyworks could see a nice spike in volumes and gain more revenue per iPhone, especially as 5G chips are more expensive than their 4G predecessors.

Throw in the fact that Skyworks has started ramping up shipments of its 5G chips to other smartphone OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) such as Vivo, Oppo,Samsung, andXiaomi, and it becomes easier to see why its mobile business could continue clocking high growth rates. And Skyworks' non-mobile business (better known as the broad markets portfolio) is also benefiting from the 5G rollout.

The company's broad markets revenue shot up 35% year-over-year during the quarter as demand for its connectivity solutions supporting 5G infrastructure remained strong. Skyworks recently pointed out that it has shipped more than a million of its 5G small-cell power amplifiers, which help telecom carriers boost network speed.

The company also says that the 5G small-cell market still has a lot of room to grow. It could be worth $8.3 billion by 2027, clocking a compound annual growth rate of 43% in the coming years.

Thanks to such impressive catalysts, it isn't surprising to see that Skyworks' top and bottom lines are expected to take off this fiscal year. And it isn't too late for investors to jump onto this bandwagon, as thistop 5G stocktrades at an attractive 21 times forward earnings.

2. Micron Technology's mobile business is about to step on the gas

Micron Technology's mobile business unit delivered $1.5 billion in revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2021, which ended on Dec. 3, 2020. The segment's revenue increased 3% year-over-year, accounting for nearly 26% of total revenue. Though Micron's mobile growth wasn't as spectacular as Skyworks', management pointed out that mobile \"demand remains strong as 5G momentum increases and the mobile market recovers from the impact of the pandemic.\"

Mobile accounts for 40% of the overall DRAM market, according to a third-party estimate, and manufacturers such as Micron are reportedly allocating more capacity toward the production of mobile DRAM to meet the recent surge in demand. In fact, demand seems to be so strong that mobile DRAM orders placed in the fourth quarter of 2020 are expected to be fulfilled only in the current quarter.

This tight supply of DRAM should ideally result in improved pricing. Industry data supports that: The spot price of the 8 GB DDR4 DRAM jumped to $3.93 earlier in February, a sharp jump over the spot price of $2.54 seen in August 2020.

More importantly, mobile DRAM demand should remain strong, as 5G smartphones are beingequipped with more memorythan their 4G predecessors. IDC estimates that smartphone shipments jumped 4.3% year-over-year last quarter to 385.9 million units, paving the way for a strong recovery in 2021 after a 5.9% decline in shipments last year.Skyworks Solutions(NASDAQ: $(SWKS)$)andMicron Technology(NASDAQ: $(MU)$)are two stocks that are already taking advantage of this turnaround, as they manufacture chips that go into 5G (fifth-generation) smartphones. This would be a huge jump over last year's 5G smartphone shipments of 213 million units, and pave the way for stronger growth in Skyworks and Micron's mobile businesses in 2021.1. Skyworks Solutions' mobile business is on a rollSkyworks' mobile business is its biggest source of revenue, accounting for 78% of its top line last quarter. Apple's well-priced iPhone 12 lineup and the possibility ofan entry-level devicesupporting the latest wireless standard could help the smartphone giant record strong shipment gains in 2021.Second, Skyworks is a key Apple supplier. It reportedly supplies as many as eight radio-frequency (RF) modules for the iPhone 12, so Skyworks could see a nice spike in volumes and gain more revenue per iPhone, especially as 5G chips are more expensive than their 4G predecessors.Throw in the fact that Skyworks has started ramping up shipments of its 5G chips to other smartphone OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) such as Vivo, Oppo,Samsung, andXiaomi, and it becomes easier to see why its mobile business could continue clocking high growth rates. And it isn't too late for investors to jump onto this bandwagon, as thistop 5G stocktrades at an attractive 21 times forward earnings.2. Micron Technology's mobile business is about to step on the gasMicron Technology's mobile business unit delivered $1.5 billion in revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2021, which ended on Dec. 3, 2020. The segment's revenue increased 3% year-over-year, accounting for nearly 26% of total revenue. Though Micron's mobile growth wasn't as spectacular as Skyworks', management pointed out that mobile \"demand remains strong as 5G momentum increases and the mobile market recovers from the impact of the pandemic.\"Mobile accounts for 40% of the overall DRAM market, according to a third-party estimate, and manufacturers such as Micron are reportedly allocating more capacity toward the production of mobile DRAM to meet the recent surge in demand. In fact, demand seems to be so strong that mobile DRAM orders placed in the fourth quarter of 2020 are expected to be fulfilled only in the current quarter. This tight supply of DRAM should ideally result in improved pricing. Industry data supports that: The spot price of the 8 GB DDR4 DRAM jumped to $3.93 earlier in February, a sharp jump over the spot price of $2.54 seen in August 2020.More importantly, mobile DRAM demand should remain strong, as 5G smartphones are beingequipped with more memorythan their 4G predecessors. This bodes well for Micron, as it reportedly controls 20% of the mobile DRAM market. What's more, the company is trying to grab even more of this space withspecialized 5G memory chipsthat help reduce space and power consumption while delivering faster performance. So a mix of higher pricing and improved shipment volumes will be a tailwind for Micron's mobile business this year. More importantly, the mobile DRAM market presents a long-term growth opportunity for Micron given its solid market share in this space. After a wild ride, he is now up more than 200% and expects the video game retailer to initiate a much-awaited turnaround of its business.
\n
“I am kicking myself for not buying more when it dropped below $50,” said Youngblood. “After research I believe GameStop has a good chance to pull it off.”
\n
The latest resurgence in GameStop shares has reinvigorated true believers. Still, many analysts point to the rally in beaten-down “meme stocks” championed in forums such as Reddit’s WallStreetBets as evidence for speculative excess in stimulus-fueled markets.
\n
“I think this is a cult stock,” said Michael Pachter, managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities. “The rally is because of demand from the Reddit Raiders, and it’s not clear it will be sustainable as the stock rises to ever higher levels.”
\n
GameStop shares closed on Wednesday up 7% at $265 after hitting a session peak of $348.50, which was 800% above last month’s low. Among the factors driving the stock are bets on improving fundamentals and hopes for another short squeeze like the one in late January, which drove prices as high as $483. Many GameStop investors also hope Americans will plow money from their coming stimulus checks into the stock.
\n
Some expect GameStop to take advantage of the new rally by launching a share offering to pay down debt. Its earnings report, scheduled for March 23, could clear the way.
\n
GameStop did not reply to a request for comment on its stock price.
\n
ICE CREAM
\n
Analysts who cover GameStop have a median price target of $12.50 on the stock. Wednesday’s closing price was 21 times higher than that.
\n
GameStop bulls say the fundamental picture is changing. Many cheered moves to tap Ryan Cohen, a shareholder and co-founder of online pet products retailer Chewy Inc , to spearhead a committee guiding GameStop’s transition to e-commerce.
\n
Hopeful investors have interpreted Cohen’s cryptic tweets, including a picture of an ice cream cone, as signs he is pushing the retail chain away from its brick-and-mortar model. Still, Pachter said even the most successful transition would not justify such a stratospheric stock price.
\n
For the quarter ended Oct. 31, GameStop reportedherea net loss of $18.8 million and a loss per share of 29 cents. To justify a trading price of $235, it would need to earn between $10 and $12 a share annually on a sustainable basis, Pachter said. The latter four investments represent new holdings for the bank.
\n
Norges disclosed the stock trades, among others, ina form it filedwith the Securities and Exchange Commission. It declined to comment on the investment changes.
\n
Itslatest balance sheet, covering January, shows the bank had $1.36 trillion of assets, including the $1.27 trillion in assets of the Government Pension Fund Global, as the country’s sovereign-wealth fund is known.
\n
Norges bought 120.2 million more Apple shares in the fourth quarter, lifting its investment to 167.6 million. The Apple investment was the bank’smost valuable equity holdingas of the end of 2020, according to Norges’ annual report.
\n
Apple stock soared 80.8% in 2020, but it has slipped 8.8% so far in 2021 through Friday’s close. In comparison, theS&P 500 index,a measure of the broader market, rose 16.3% in 2020, and is up 5% year to date.
\n
EDITOR'S CHOICE
\n
Apple stock, along with those of the EV makers, has been hammered in recent weeks byhigher bond yields, which create an environment hostile to tech and growth stocks. Indeed, demand for the iPhone 12has been strong, and investors are looking forward to the next model.Barron’shas noted that Apple’s dividend yield isn’t that enticing, but the company has beenincreasing the payoutsat an impressive rate.
\n
Norges bought 6.9 million more Tesla shares in the quarter to end the year with 7.8 million shares of the electric-vehicle giant. Tesla stock rocketed more than eight times in value last year, but it has veered to a 1.7% loss so far in 2021.
\n
Tesla disclosed in February that itbought $1.5 billionof Bitcoin and intended to accept payments in the cryptocurrency. Tesla is known for its cars, but its operations in software, backup battery power, solar panels, and insuranceare also valuable, as are its plans for robotaxis. TheARK Innovationexchange-traded fund had a spectacular 2020, partly because of its holdings in Tesla stock, but isseeing a muted performance this year, as well.
\n
The bank bought 13.4 million NIO American depositary receipts in the fourth quarter, raising the investment to 13.7 million ADRs of the Chinese maker of EV vehicles.
\n
NIO ADRs topped Tesla stock’s performance in 2020, surging more than 12 times in value. So far this year, NIO ADRs are 6.6% lower.
\n
After large runups in their shares, NIO and the other Chinese EV makers have been caught up in the broader downturn for growth stocks, sending their ADRs tumbling. Disappointingsales guidancemay have also hurt NIO ADRs.
\n
Norges bought 17 million shares of Nikola, 1 million ADRs of Li Auto, 527,577 ADRs of XPeng, and 1 million shares of Fisker. Fisker rose 64%from its public listing via a SPAC in October. But in the new year, Li Auto and Xpeng ADRs have slid 10.9% and 17.9%, respectively.
\n
Fisker stock, however, has surged 57%. It declined to comment on the investment changes.\nItslatest balance sheet, covering January, shows the bank had $1.36 trillion of assets, including the $1.27 trillion in assets of the Government Pension Fund Global, as the country’s sovereign-wealth fund is known.\nNorges bought 120.2 million more Apple shares in the fourth quarter, lifting its investment to 167.6 million. The Apple investment was the bank’smost valuable equity holdingas of the end of 2020, according to Norges’ annual report.\nApple stock soared 80.8% in 2020, but it has slipped 8.8% so far in 2021 through Friday’s close. In comparison, theS&P 500 index,a measure of the broader market, rose 16.3% in 2020, and is up 5% year to date.\nEDITOR'S CHOICE\nApple stock, along with those of the EV makers, has been hammered in recent weeks byhigher bond yields, which create an environment hostile to tech and growth stocks. Indeed,demand for the iPhone 12has been strong, and investors are looking forward to the next model.Barron’shas noted that Apple’s dividend yield isn’t that enticing, but the company has beenincreasing the payoutsat an impressive rate.\nNorges bought 6.9 million more Tesla shares in the quarter to end the year with 7.8 million shares of the electric-vehicle giant. Tesla stock rocketed more than eight times in value last year, but it has veered to a 1.7% loss so far in 2021.\nTesla disclosed in February that itbought $1.5 billionof Bitcoin and intended to accept payments in the cryptocurrency. Tesla is known for its cars, but its operations in software, backup battery power, solar panels, and insuranceare also valuable, as are its plans for robotaxis. TheARK Innovationexchange-traded fund had a spectacular 2020, partly because of its holdings in Tesla stock, but isseeing a muted performance this year, as well.\nThe bank bought 13.4 million NIO American depositary receipts in the fourth quarter, raising the investment to 13.7 million ADRs of the Chinese maker of EV vehicles.\nNIO ADRs topped Tesla stock’s performance in 2020, surging more than 12 times in value. So far this year, NIO ADRs are 6.6% lower.\nAfter large runups in their shares, NIO and the other Chinese EV makers have been caught up in the broader downturn for growth stocks,sending their ADRs tumbling. Disappointingsales guidancemay have also hurt NIO ADRs.\nNorges bought 17 million shares of Nikola, 1 million ADRs of Li Auto, 527,577 ADRs of XPeng, and 1 million shares of Fisker. It hadn’t owned any of those companies’ shares at theend of the third quarter.\nNikola stock soaredafter the maker of trucks powered by batteries and hydrogen fuel cellswent publicin early June via a special-purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. But shares slipped when the founderstepped down, and a deal with General Motors (GM) wasscaled back.\nNikola stock ended the year with a 55% drop from the day the SPAC listing was completed. So far in 2021, Nikola stock has gained 11.5%.\nLi Auto and Xpeng ended 2020 with respective gains of 251% and 286% from their summer initial-public-offering prices. Fisker rose 64%from its public listing via a SPAC in October. But in the new year, Li Auto and Xpeng ADRs have slid 10.9% and 17.9%, respectively.\nFisker stock, however, has surged 57%. Apartnership withFoxconn Technologyto jointly produce a vehicle has bolstered the shares.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":368,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":364865907,"gmtCreate":1614835687709,"gmtModify":1704775823011,"author":{"id":"3572835437213639","authorId":"3572835437213639","name":"Haya","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0a077c70620d101cd5a0271bb1e4d92a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572835437213639","authorIdStr":"3572835437213639"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Add to watch list ?","listText":"Add to watch list ?","text":"Add to watch list ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/364865907","repostId":"1186654577","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":98,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":365413536,"gmtCreate":1614769501825,"gmtModify":1704774981450,"author":{"id":"3572835437213639","authorId":"3572835437213639","name":"Haya","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0a077c70620d101cd5a0271bb1e4d92a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572835437213639","authorIdStr":"3572835437213639"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good news for $NIO Inc.(NIO)$","listText":"Good news for $NIO Inc.(NIO)$","text":"Good news for $NIO Inc.(NIO)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/365413536","repostId":"1185472117","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":214,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
