Snowflake</b></p>\n<p>Snowflake was one of the hottest tech IPOs of 2020, thanks to its jaw-dropping growth rates and big investments from&nbsp;<b>Berkshire Hathaway</b>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<b>salesforce.com</b>.</p>\n<p>Snowflake'scloud-baseddata warehouse pulls all of a company's data onto a single platform, where it can then be fed into third-party data visualization apps. Its service breaks down the silos between different departments and computing platforms, which makes it easier for large companies to make data-driven decisions.</p>\n<p>Snowflake's number of customers jumped 73% to 4,139 in fiscal 2021 (which ended this January), including 186 of the Fortune 500 companies. Its revenue surged 124% to $592 million, as its net retention rate -- which gauges its year-over-year revenue growth per existing customer -- hit 165%.</p>\n<p>That growth continued in the first quarter of 2022. Its revenue rose 110% year over year to $228.9 million, its number of customers increased 67% to 4,532, and it achieved a net retention rate of 168%.</p>\n<p>But Snowflake isn't profitable yet. ItsGAAPnet loss widened from $348.5 million in fiscal 2020 to $539.1 million in fiscal 2021, and<i>more than doubled</i>from $93.6 million to $203.2 million in the first quarter of 2022. It's also unprofitable on a non-GAAP basis, which excludes its stock-based compensation expenses.</p>\n<p>Analysts expect Snowflake's revenue to rise 88% this year, with a narrower loss. However, its stock still trades at 65 times this year's sales -- which indicates there's still far too much growth baked into the stock. But if Snowflake gets cut in half in a crash, I'd considerstarting a big position.</p>\n<p><b>2. Twilio</b></p>\n<p>Twilio's cloud platform processes text messages, calls, and videos within apps. For example, it helps&nbsp;<b>Lyft</b>'s passengers contact their drivers, and&nbsp;<b>Airbnb</b>'s guests reach their hosts.</p>\n<p>In the past, developers built those tools from scratch, which was generally time-consuming, buggy, and difficult to scale. However, developers can now outsource those features to Twilio's cloud service by simply adding a few lines of code to their apps.</p>\n<p>Twilio's revenue rose 55% to $1.76 billion in 2020. Its net expansion rate, which is comparable to Snowflake's net retention rate, reached 137%. In the first quarter of 2021, its revenue jumped 62% year over year to $590 million as it integrated its recent purchase of the customer data firm Segment.</p>\n<p>Twilio remains unprofitable on a GAAP basis, but its non-GAAP net income rose 62% to $35.9 million in 2020. In the first quarter of 2021, its non-GAAP net income rose another 15% to $9.6 million.</p>\n<p>Analysts expect its revenue to rise 44% this year, but for its non-GAAP earnings to dip into the red again amid higher investments and rising A2P (application-to-person) fees, which are now charged by carriers whenever an app accesses an SMS network.</p>\n<p>That near-term outlook doesn't look great for a stock that trades at nearly 30 times this year's sales. However, I still think Twilio has great growth potential, and I'd definitely buy its stock at a lower price.</p>\n<p><b>3. CrowdStrike</b></p>\n<p>CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity company that differs from its industry peers in one major way. Most cybersecurity companies install on-site appliances to support their services, which can be expensive to maintain and difficult to scale as an organization expands. CrowdStrike eliminates those appliances by offering its end-to-end security platform as a cloud-based service.</p>\n<p>CrowdStrike's growth clearly reflects its disruptive potential. Its revenue rose 82% to $874.4 million in fiscal 2021 (which ended this January), its number of subscription customers increased 82% to 9,896, and its net retention rate stayed above 120%.</p>\n<p>In the first quarter of fiscal 2022, its revenue rose 70% year over year to $302.8 million, its subscriber base expanded 82% year over year to 11,420, and it kept its retention rate above 120%.</p>\n<p>CrowdStrike also turned profitable on a non-GAAP basis in 2021, with a net profit of $62.6 million. Its non-GAAP net income rose more than fivefold year over year to $23.3 million in the first quarter of 2022.</p>\n<p>Those&nbsp;numbers are impressive, but CrowdStrike still trades at about 350 times forward earnings and more than 40 times this year's sales. The company plans to let consumers use the currency to pay for cars.</p><p>But Tesla isn’t the only one. On Thursday, BNY Mellon (BK), the oldest bank in the U.S.,said it will hold and transfer cryptocurrencies for customers. “Growing client demand for digital assets, maturity of advanced solutions, and improving regulatory clarity present a tremendous opportunity for us to extend our current service offerings to this emerging field,” said Roman Regelman, the bank’s CEO of asset servicing and head of digital.</p><p>Mastercard (MA) said on Wednesday that it will let merchants accept some cryptocurrencies through its network later this year. The payments will be converted to traditional money before it enters the companies’ systems.Twitter(TWTR) is also considering a Bitcoin investment. And Square (SQ) has already put some on its balance sheet, as well as given users of its Cash App access to buy the cryptocurrency.</p><p>Why is this happening now? Cryptocurrencies are still not particularly useful outside of a very few cases, such as cross-border transactions. Even there, they haven’t fully taken hold.</p><p>There are at least four big reasons corporations are diving in.</p><p>One is that some company founders believe in Bitcoin. Their excitement about the asset has convinced them that their companies need to be involved, or have cryptocurrency investments, even if Bitcoin isn’t really the core of their operations. That appears to be the case for Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, and for a software company calledMicrostrategyand its CEO, Michael Saylor.</p><p>Microstrategy, whose entire market capitalization was below $1 billion early last year, now owns more than $2 billion of Bitcoin, and its market cap is now just under $10 billion. Saylor told<i>Barron’s</i>&nbsp;in an interview last yearthat he sees Bitcoin as a hedge against monetary debasement and inflation.</p><p>Square CEO Jack Dorsey ‘s fascination with Bitcoin also likely sped Square’s adoption. He has spoken about his interest in the currency for years.</p><p>Tesla’s purchase of Bitcoin is strong marketing for the company and the currency, said Dan Morehead, founder of the crypto hedge fund Pantera Capital. But it won’t likely change the way Bitcoin is used. “Tesla sells a half a million cars a year,” he said. “If they sold 4% in Bitcoin, I’d be surprised.” Morehead thinks Bitoin’s growing use for cross-border payments is much more exciting from a practical perspective.</p><p>Other companies are getting into Bitcoin because of customer demand. That appears to be the case for BNY Mellon, which is not known for making risky bets on new technologies. It could stay out of the industry altogether, but more institutional investors are buying Bitcoin and need somewhere to put it.</p><p>And the infrastructure around Bitcoin has grown, so that it now more closely resembles the systems used in the rest of the world of finance.. Big companies now insure cryptocurrencies or—as in the case ofJPMorgan Chase(JPM)—offer services to cryptocurrency businesses, even if most still don’t hold Bitcoin on their own balance sheets.</p><p>A third reason is increasing government acceptance of the trend. BNY cited greater regulatory clarity around Bitcoin as one reason it is diving in. The U.S. government has taken a mostly laissez-faire approach to regulating digital assets even as many of the illegal activities that cryptocurrency has been associated with in the past have continued. Without at least the tacit approval of regulators, crypto couldn’t have landed on the balance sheets of so many companies.</p><p>A fourth reason cryptocurrencies are gaining hold in corporate boardrooms is that they serve multiple purposes. That gives corporations several different rationales to hold the coins, or offer related services. Cryptocurrencies have the potential to go well beyond Bitcoin’s initial premise as a way to send money without financial intermediaries. So-called stablecoins, whose value is meant to track fiat currencies, could allow for faster transactions for some kinds of financial services, for instance.</p><p>Visa(V) andMasterCardseem like the last places in the world that Bitcoin would take hold given that Bitcoin was created to eliminate the middlemen in finance. Few companies fill the role of middleman as perfectly as the credit-card processors. Visa, however, thinks that cryptocurrencies are useful for many other purposes, and its trusted brand makes it an important player, according to Cuy Sheffield, head of crypto at the company.</p><p>“We’ve seen growing demand from clients across the world that want to be able to plug in and use these networks, but they want a global, neutral, trusted brand, to help them be able to do that,” Sheffield said in an interview. Visa said last week it has created software that allows bank customers to buy and hold cryptocurrencies through lenders’ websites.</p><p>Will old-line financial companies be the biggest beneficiaries of the crypto “revolution”? Here are three great ones.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>Introduction</b></p>\n<p>On a recent Bloomberg video call, Ray Dalio suggested that the Fed will have a lot of trouble doing any rate hike without having significantly adverse effects on stocks.</p>\n<p>Following the Fed meeting last week, the news that rates might be raised in two years rather than three gave the markets a jolt, as the message was interpreted as hawkish by the investing community.</p>\n<p>This caused Jerome Powell to backpedal, reminding everyone of his favorite word: \"transitory\". It was important that he once again reminded everyone that inflation would head back to 2%, and that nobody needs to worry.</p>\n<p>He did cover his 6 however,stating:</p>\n<blockquote>\n <i>We have to be very humble about our ability to really try to draw a signal out of it [...] It might take some patience to really see what’s happening.</i>\n</blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n Larry Summers had adifferent take on it: \n <i>I don't think the arithmetic is terribly difficult.</i>\n</blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n <i> You're looking at an average GDP gap deficit to potential GDP of 2%, and we're looking at a 14% of GDP fiscal stimulus. [...] The important question is whether there is 6 points of transitory inflation or 2 points of transitory inflation.</i>\n</blockquote>\n<p>This idea is very important. Rather than asking whether inflation is transitory or not, we should be asking how much of it is transitory.</p>\n<p>And this is where the risk currently lies. While the S&amp;P 500 (SPY) performed a roundtrip from 4250 to 4250 with a 90 point drop in between, a lot of the more cyclical stocks took a hit which put them back in our \"Buy List\".</p>\n<p>Our take is that the Fed is realizing that it can't really increase rates without causing ruckus in markets.</p>\n<p>When you add this to the fact that they might not have any choice but to keep printing money to buy bonds as the supply of bonds might overshoot the demand of these from foreign countries who already hold lots of US debt and show limited interest in purchasing the debt at negative real interest rates. This is according to Ray Dalio in the same call with Larry Summers mentioned above.</p>\n<p>The risk of monetary inflation is very real. The likelihood of demand to continue increasing dramatically as money stored in financial markets hits the economy is also very high.</p>\n<p>What we've learned in investing, is that investors are too eager to wrap up a trade and move on to the \"next thing\". The product lines that IBM is selling off now are smart choices... and they have others left to sell (but maybe there isn't a buyer).</i>\n</blockquote>\n<p>This value will likely be realized following the spin-off of the legacy business into an entity which will benamed kyndryl.</p>\n<p>Investors will likely be left with a high yield managed infrastructure business, and a low yield high growth cloud stock.</p>\n<p>When it happens, we'll decide which of both we'll hold onto, but we're quite confident that the two pieces will be worth than the sum of the part.</p>\n<p>And while you wait for this, you still get paid 4.5% by a super safe Blue Chip stock, which has the pricing power to fight inflation.</p>\n<p><b>KeyCorp (KEY)</b></p>\n<p>One thing the last round of stress tests showed, was that US banks are resilient, and well capitalized. Yet last week they took a hit after the fed meeting. This week stress tests will be released, and most large banks are expected to do really well.</p>\n<p>After that, dividend increases will come in July as banks are eager to start returning wealth to shareholders.</p>\n<p>Keycorp is no exception. For an analysis of KEY's earnings development you can read Sheen Bay Research'sarticleon the stock.</p>\n<p>Where I differ from his opinion is on the question of the dividend. While he doesn't expect a dividend hike, I expect all major banks to compete in their dividend increases.</p>\n<p>What investors must not forget is that in 2008 KEY paid a dividend of $0.38 per quarter, or double the current dividend.</p>\n<p>Since then, the company has been slowly redeeming itself, increasing the dividend every year.</p>\n<p>The pandemic restrictions stopped KEY in their tracks.</p>\n<p>A look at our MAD Chart shows how eager the bank was at returning capital to shareholders in the past 10 years. Each time the dividend increases, the inferred value ranges shown on the MAD chart goes up.</p>\n<p>In the past 10 years the dividend grew at 20% per annum, the rate dropped to 15% in the past 5 years, hindered by 0 growth last year.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ce032ffe59e73db2d6a1e09b4ff723b4\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"298\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Source: Dividend Freedom Tribe.</span></p>\n<p>I believe that a 10-15% increase is very likely this year.</p>\n<p>In this event, KEY's current yield of 3.6% would effectively become a 4% yield.</p>\n<p>But to get fantastic income from KEY, you don't even need that much growth.</p>\n<p>At a 3.6% yield, if you can get 7.5% annual dividend growth you get a fantastic income opportunity.</p>\n<p>Let's look at a simulation.</p>\n<p>Let's suggest a $10K investment in KEY, with dividends reinvested and dividend growth of 7.5% per annum.</p>\n<p>In year 10, you'd expect $1,004 of income, or 10% of your original investment, which is our threshold for a \"great\" income opportunity.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/96c24e62697eb475528e1b9f04686a12\" tg-width=\"615\" tg-height=\"240\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Source: Dividend Freedom Tribe.</span></p>\n<p>In our mind there is no way that KEY doesn't grow at this rate, which would suggest hitting its pre 2008 dividend in 10 years.</p>\n<p>As such we believe KEY to be a great pick for income investors. As KEY's dividend growth is on the back of growth in earnings and tangible book value per share, there is no doubt in our mind that sooner or later, the price will catch up with the higher income. The fed stress tests might be the catalyst banks need to move higher.</p>\n<p>In the meantime get paid to wait.</p>\n<p><b>Chevron (CVX)</b></p>\n<p>Chevron is another stock which is hovering just below our target \"Buy Below\" price.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/100902df9308eeb7576e22704f403240\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"298\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Source: Dividend Freedom Tribe.</span></p>\n<p>We're surprised that the oil trade is taking so long to play out. In late 2015, early 2016, the recovery to historically normal yields was a lot faster.</p>\n<p>Yet CVX still yields 5%, after proving its resilience, superior balance sheet and increasing the dividend by 4% this year, sustaining their history of higher dividends every year for the past three decades.</p>\n<p>Consider the following slide from their latestearnings call:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b49cefbd9ee55c299d2b3a03211a3b6b\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"360\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Source: Earnings Call.</span></p>\n<p>At $40 brent, the dividend is covered with a little extra debt. As the energy major with the best balance sheet, it can afford this. At $60 brent, there would be excess cash above $25bn, or enough to fund the dividend for two and a half years.</p>\n<p>Brent is currently above $70. The longer it stays above that level, the higher the likelihood that CVX will actually have the excess cash suggested in the latter scenario.</p>\n<p>Back in August last year we suggested that you'll belaughing your wayto the bank with CVX's 6% yield.</p>\n<p>Since then, CVX has marginally beaten the S&amp;P 500, but is far from over.</p>\n<p>In the past 10 years CVX has yielded a median 3.86%. Its forward outlook is arguably better now than it was in much of the past decade, which had the energy market dealing with endemic oversupply. With underinvestment, the opposite is likely to be true in upcoming years.</p>\n<p>If anything CVX should gravitate back towards its median yield which suggests further upside of 20%, much of which we expect will be realized in the latter half of 2021.</p>\n<p>If you simulate a $10K investment in CVX assuming a 5% yield and 4% dividend growth, and reinvest dividends, then in year 10 you'd expect $1,154 in dividends of which $409 is expected to come from dividend reinvestments.</p>\n<p>This equates to 11.54% of the initial investment, making CVX also an excellent income opportunity at current prices.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/53e365890df23b4af31565c7b170c14f\" tg-width=\"615\" tg-height=\"240\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Source: Dividend Freedom Tribe.</span></p>\n<p><b>Conclusion</b></p>\n<p>As long term dividend investors, we're always eager to get top companies at great valuations. The fed meeting changed nothing to the reopening trade. It was important that he once again reminded everyone that inflation would head back to 2%, and that nobody needs to worry.\nHe did cover his 6 however,stating:\n\nWe have to be very humble about our ability to really try to draw a signal out of it [...] It might take some patience to really see what’s happening.\n\n\n Larry Summers had adifferent take on it: \n I don't think the arithmetic is terribly difficult.\n\n\n You're looking at an average GDP gap deficit to potential GDP of 2%, and we're looking at a 14% of GDP fiscal stimulus. [...] The important question is whether there is 6 points of transitory inflation or 2 points of transitory inflation.\n\nThis idea is very important. Rather than asking whether inflation is transitory or not, we should be asking how much of it is transitory.\nAnd this is where the risk currently lies. While the S&P 500 (SPY) performed a roundtrip from 4250 to 4250 with a 90 point drop in between, a lot of the more cyclical stocks took a hit which put them back in our \"Buy List\".\nOur take is that the Fed is realizing that it can't really increase rates without causing ruckus in markets.\nWhen you add this to the fact that they might not have any choice but to keep printing money to buy bonds as the supply of bonds might overshoot the demand of these from foreign countries who already hold lots of US debt and show limited interest in purchasing the debt at negative real interest rates. Let's take a look at three of those companies:<b>Snowflake</b>(NYSE:SNOW),<b>Twilio</b>(NYSE:TWLO), and&nbsp;<b>CrowdStrike</b>(NASDAQ:CRWD).</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fde232ce39d9cd52a01fd6ec018cae53\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>IMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.</span></p>\n<p><b>1. Snowflake</b></p>\n<p>Snowflake was one of the hottest tech IPOs of 2020, thanks to its jaw-dropping growth rates and big investments from&nbsp;<b>Berkshire Hathaway</b>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<b>salesforce.com</b>.</p>\n<p>Snowflake'scloud-baseddata warehouse pulls all of a company's data onto a single platform, where it can then be fed into third-party data visualization apps. Its service breaks down the silos between different departments and computing platforms, which makes it easier for large companies to make data-driven decisions.</p>\n<p>Snowflake's number of customers jumped 73% to 4,139 in fiscal 2021 (which ended this January), including 186 of the Fortune 500 companies. Its revenue surged 124% to $592 million, as its net retention rate -- which gauges its year-over-year revenue growth per existing customer -- hit 165%.</p>\n<p>That growth continued in the first quarter of 2022. Its revenue rose 110% year over year to $228.9 million, its number of customers increased 67% to 4,532, and it achieved a net retention rate of 168%.</p>\n<p>But Snowflake isn't profitable yet. ItsGAAPnet loss widened from $348.5 million in fiscal 2020 to $539.1 million in fiscal 2021, and<i>more than doubled</i>from $93.6 million to $203.2 million in the first quarter of 2022. It's also unprofitable on a non-GAAP basis, which excludes its stock-based compensation expenses.</p>\n<p>Analysts expect Snowflake's revenue to rise 88% this year, with a narrower loss. However, its stock still trades at 65 times this year's sales -- which indicates there's still far too much growth baked into the stock. But if Snowflake gets cut in half in a crash, I'd considerstarting a big position.</p>\n<p><b>2. Twilio</b></p>\n<p>Twilio's cloud platform processes text messages, calls, and videos within apps. For example, it helps&nbsp;<b>Lyft</b>'s passengers contact their drivers, and&nbsp;<b>Airbnb</b>'s guests reach their hosts.</p>\n<p>In the past, developers built those tools from scratch, which was generally time-consuming, buggy, and difficult to scale. However, developers can now outsource those features to Twilio's cloud service by simply adding a few lines of code to their apps.</p>\n<p>Twilio's revenue rose 55% to $1.76 billion in 2020. Its net expansion rate, which is comparable to Snowflake's net retention rate, reached 137%. In the first quarter of 2021, its revenue jumped 62% year over year to $590 million as it integrated its recent purchase of the customer data firm Segment.</p>\n<p>Twilio remains unprofitable on a GAAP basis, but its non-GAAP net income rose 62% to $35.9 million in 2020. In the first quarter of 2021, its non-GAAP net income rose another 15% to $9.6 million.</p>\n<p>Analysts expect its revenue to rise 44% this year, but for its non-GAAP earnings to dip into the red again amid higher investments and rising A2P (application-to-person) fees, which are now charged by carriers whenever an app accesses an SMS network.</p>\n<p>That near-term outlook doesn't look great for a stock that trades at nearly 30 times this year's sales. However, I still think Twilio has great growth potential, and I'd definitely buy its stock at a lower price.</p>\n<p><b>3. CrowdStrike</b></p>\n<p>CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity company that differs from its industry peers in one major way. Most cybersecurity companies install on-site appliances to support their services, which can be expensive to maintain and difficult to scale as an organization expands. CrowdStrike eliminates those appliances by offering its end-to-end security platform as a cloud-based service.</p>\n<p>CrowdStrike's growth clearly reflects its disruptive potential. Its revenue rose 82% to $874.4 million in fiscal 2021 (which ended this January), its number of subscription customers increased 82% to 9,896, and its net retention rate stayed above 120%.</p>\n<p>In the first quarter of fiscal 2022, its revenue rose 70% year over year to $302.8 million, its subscriber base expanded 82% year over year to 11,420, and it kept its retention rate above 120%.</p>\n<p>CrowdStrike also turned profitable on a non-GAAP basis in 2021, with a net profit of $62.6 million. Its non-GAAP net income rose more than fivefold year over year to $23.3 million in the first quarter of 2022.</p>\n<p>Those&nbsp;numbers are impressive, but CrowdStrike still trades at about 350 times forward earnings and more than 40 times this year's sales.
