News Australia","summary":"Pendal Group (ASX: PDL) has knocked back a $2.4 billion takeover bid from rival Perpetual (ASX: PPT)","content":"

Pendal Group (ASX: PDL) has knocked back a $2.4 billion takeover bid from rival Perpetual (ASX: PPT) after the board announced today the proposal “significantly undervalues the current and future value” of the company.

The rejected offer would have seen the Sydney-based firm acquired for one PPT share for every 7.5 PDL shares plus $1.67 cash – representing an indicative value of $6.23 per PDL share based on the closing price on 1 April.

The board noted the offer only represented a 0.3 per cent premium to the 180-day volume-weighted average price of PDL shares up until then, determining it was "materially below" PDL's underlying standalone value.

In an ASX announcement released today, the PDL board stood by the value of the company and said it “has some of the most respected investment talent in the world” alongside a “compelling global distribution footprint across the UK, Europe, the US and Australia”.

Upon dismissing the scrip-heavy bid, PDL also announced it would launch a $100 million buyback after the board found its shares are currently “undervalued”.

The company said it had a “strong cash-generating business with a solid balance sheet” that “provides significant flexibility to pursue growth and capital management initiatives for the benefit of shareholders.”

“The timing and number of shares purchased will depend on the prevailing share price, market conditions, ASX rules and other relevant factors,” Pendal said.

The buyback will be funded from a combination of cash reserves and financial assets and begin after the company releases its interim results in May.

Funds Under Management

Coinciding with the bid rejection was an update to Pendal’s funds under management (FUM) for the quarter ending 31 March, which fell from $135.7 billion to $124.9 billion in the span of four months.

Almost half of Pendal’s FUM is in the US ($57.2 billion), followed by Australia ($34.5 billion) and Europe, UK and Asia ($22.3 billion).

Pendal Group CEO Nick Good said the company is “pleased to have seen a significant improvement in flows despite weak and volatile markets that have impacted overall fund levels.”

“Our diversified book of businesses means we are well positioned to offer clients the range of investment strategies they require to meet their changing investment needs. We are also making solid progress on our multi-year investment program,”

“Pendal has some of the most respected investment talent in the world, a compelling global distribution footprint and a diversified product suite including a growing range of sustainable and impact solutions.”

“I have confidence our strategic priorities will deliver long-term organic growth.”

","source":"lsy1649742764578","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; We are also making solid progress on our multi-year investment program,”“Pendal has some of the most respected investment talent in the world, a compelling global distribution footprint and a diversified product suite including a growing range of sustainable and impact solutions.”“I have confidence our strategic priorities will deliver long-term organic growth.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":46,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9017313741,"gmtCreate":1649744041234,"gmtModify":1676534562914,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gogogo","listText":"Gogogo","text":"Gogogo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9017313741","repostId":"2226047681","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":69,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9091177180,"gmtCreate":1643815339899,"gmtModify":1676533859636,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"No","listText":"No","text":"No","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9091177180","repostId":"2208368356","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2208368356","pubTimestamp":1643804700,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2208368356?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-02-02 20:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Better Buy for 2022: Nu Holdings vs. Grab Holdings?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2208368356","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These two international emerging companies look appealing, but which company would be a better buy today?","content":"

When it comes to diversifying your portfolio, you have several viable options, including geographic diversification. The company's core services -- delivery and ride-hailing -- had over $2.8 billion in gross merchandise volume spent on its platform in the third quarter of 2021. Add all three of its services together and the company has 22 million monthly transacting users, leaving Grab plenty of room for growth in a Southeast Asian population of 679 million.

Grab's opportunity is extremely large, but the company has not yet proved it can take full advantage. In the most recent quarter, The company's revenue decreased 9% year over year to $157 million. Management cited short-term pandemic lockdowns in certain countries as the reason revenue fell, but some of its biggest markets -- like Singapore -- are largely open for business due to the high vaccination rates. And despite being a $21 billion company, Grab's margin profile is not good. In the first six months of 2021, the company had a gross margin of negative 28% and posted a net loss of over $1.4 billion, a figure that represents 370% of revenue.

To capitalize on the massive market opportunity and become the dominant super-app in Southeast Asia, Grab is going to need a quick turnaround. It already faces competition in the financial services business from Sea Limited and on the delivery and ride-hailing side is GoTo (a merger of two Southeast Asian behemoths Tokopedia and Gojek). If Grab disrupted both of these companies, it would be an amazing feat, but much harder to accomplish with negative gross margins and low growth.

Nu Holdings

Nu Holdings is disrupting the digital financial services industry across Latin America. The banking system in Latin America is dominated by five banks that control up to 85% of all banking revenue in Chile, Brazil, and Mexico. The lack of innovation in the space has caused the established banks to get lots of complaints, according to Nu management. It reported that the biggest banks in the region, on average, receive 1,420 complaints per 1 million customers. Its net loss for the period was just $34 million, which grew just 5% year over year, so the company's path to profitability looks very strong.

Nu: The clear winner

Nu looks stronger than Grab in virtually every part of its business, which makes its stock a much better buy today. Nu and Grab have similar market sizes, yet Nu has robust competitive advantages, a better financial position, and much more impressive growth. Nu stock does trade at 42 times sales compared to Grab's 29 times sales, but Nu's quality of operations makes that premium valuation worth paying up for.

There are competitors to Nu in the digital financial services space -- mainly MercadoLibre -- but with such a large opportunity, both Nu and MercadoLibre could win. In March 2022, the firm presented impressive financial results, including record revenue and record net earnings in FY2021. Although the financial performance of the company looks strong, when considering investing in the company, we need to understand, what is the right price to pay for the stock and what potential risks do we face?

Growing revenue and improving margins

Target has reported a record $104.611 million total revenue in FY2021. This represents a 13.3% increase compared to the year before. Not only the total revenue but also the operating income has increased by an impressive 36.8% compared to a year ago, reaching $8.964 million. Net earnings in 2021 reached $6.946 million, indicating a 59% Y/Y increase.

These growth figures can be attributed, on one hand, to Target's digital growth strategy, which outpaced its peers in the industry. On the other hand, to the increased traffic in the physical stores. In March 2022, the firm presented impressive financial results, including record revenue and record net earnings in FY2021. Although the financial performance of the company looks strong, when considering investing in the company, we need to understand, what is the right price to pay for the stock and what potential risks do we face?Growing revenue and improving marginsTarget has reported a record $104.611 million total revenue in FY2021. Lithium miners such as Pilbara Minerals recently said automakers would have to “pay through the nose” for battery raw materials for some time after being “asleep at the wheel” in recent years and failing to secure supply. In a quarterly update, Lynas said demand for its products remained strong and it “continues to receive many approaches from end users seeking to secure their raw material sourcing over the longer term”.Lynas CEO Amanda Lacaze says demand for rare earths remains strong, particularly from the automotive industry. AFR“[We’re} engaged in productive discussions with a number of these end users,” the company said.“The NdFeB market continued to record robust growth, despite many downstream industries dealing with a reduced workforce due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the global shortage of semi-conductors during the period.”Neodymium magnets, or NdFeBs, are the most common ones used in several industries, including in cars, wind turbines and defence products. In the three months ended March 31, revenue rose to a record $327.2 million from $202.7 million in the year-earlier period. Its average sales price lifted to $64.70 a kilogram, almost double the $35.50 a kilogram received a year ago.Total rare earth oxides production lifted to 4945 tonnes, including a record 1687 tonnes of “NdPr”, or neodymium and praseodymium, which are used in magnets and make up a large part of the rare earths market of 17 different metals. Lynas is the biggest rare earths producer outside China, which dominates global supply.Barrenjoey analyst Daniel Morgan said Lynas’ quarterly numbers beat expectations in terms of production and revenue, but its average price missed.“We suspect this is indicative of sales mix being slightly skewed toward lower value products of La (lanthanum)/Ce (cerium) rather than NdPr,” he said. “NdPr drives about 90 per cent of revenue by value but about 30 per cent of production by volume.”At 1.30pm AEST, Lynas shares traded 3 per cent lower at $9.54.Chief executive Amanda Lacaze said the price of NdPr has further strengthened and “our customers continue to advise that demand for rare earths remains strong, particularly in the automotive industry”.“We are focused on developing initiatives to increase supply to support continued market growth,” she said.Ms Lacaze called out its recent receival of all approvals for its Kalgoorlie processing facility under construction and that it remains “closely engaged with a number of governments” as they focus on their critical mineral supply chains.Several governments, including Australia’s, are increasing debt and equity funding in various critical minerals, with Iluka last week saying it had secured a $1.05 billion federal loan to build the country’s first fully integrated, rare earths separation facility in Western Australia.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":50,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9958941201,"gmtCreate":1673620940903,"gmtModify":1676538866173,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Go","listText":"Go","text":"Go","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9958941201","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":356,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9953563616,"gmtCreate":1673283964135,"gmtModify":1676538812336,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gogogog","listText":"Gogogog","text":"Gogogog","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9953563616","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":242,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9953084447,"gmtCreate":1673105554990,"gmtModify":1676538787384,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gogogog","listText":"Gogogog","text":"Gogogog","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9953084447","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":159,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9950779937,"gmtCreate":1672845803729,"gmtModify":1676538746979,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yessss","listText":"Yessss","text":"Yessss","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9950779937","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":83,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9921850679,"gmtCreate":1671030545191,"gmtModify":1676538478687,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yesssss","listText":"Yesssss","text":"Yesssss","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9921850679","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":58,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9923296417,"gmtCreate":1670859809340,"gmtModify":1676538447879,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gogogog","listText":"Gogogog","text":"Gogogog","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9923296417","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":88,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":157502450,"gmtCreate":1625586399870,"gmtModify":1703744518828,"author":{"id":"3574814391961610","authorId":"3574814391961610","name":"GL90","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574814391961610","authorIdStr":"3574814391961610"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/157502450","repostId":"1129630404","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1129630404","pubTimestamp":1625583800,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1129630404?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-06
