were being warned that interest rates were ready to move meaningfully higher as inflation and the Federal Reserve were teaming up to end the massive low interest rate paradigm we have been stuck in for years. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, rates have dived lower, with the 10-year Treasury trading at a 1.32% yield, down from near 1.70% at the end of May. The benchmark 30-year Treasury bond is back at the 1.94% level. These are the lowest interest rate levels since last winter.
\n
For income investors, this is another setback in what has become over a ten-year problem. While rates certainly could rise again, one thing seems certain: the Federal Reserve will not raise rates until it is positive the economy is back at full strength. The only move the Fed looks poised to make in the near term is the beginning of the tapering of the $120 billion per month purchase of Treasury and mortgage debt.
\n
We screened the BofA Securities research universe looking for blue chip stocks rated Buy that paid at least a 4% dividend. We found five that are very appealing now to growth and income investors. While all are rated Buy, it is important to remember that no single analyst report should be used as a sole basis for any buying or selling decision.
\n
Altria
\n
This maker of tobacco products offers value investors a great entry point now and was hit recently as cigarette sales have slowed. Altria Group Inc. (NYSE: MO) is the parent company of Philip Morris USA (cigarettes), UST (smokeless), John Middleton (cigars), Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Philip Morris Capital. PMUSA enjoys a 51% share of the U.S. cigarette market, led by its top cigarette brand Marlboro.
\n
Altria also owns over 10% of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer. In March 2008, it spun off its international cigarette business to shareholders. In December 2018, the company acquired 35% of Juul Labs, and it has purchased a 45% stake in cannabis company Cronus for $1.8 billion.
\n
BofA Securities is very favorable toward the company’s plans for the future:
\n
\n Management presented at CAGNY (Consumer Analyst Group of New York) where it discussed a new corporate focus on ESG, additional details on its IQOS plans and its “Moving beyond smoking” 10-yr plan. Smokeables (cigarettes/cigars) will remain an important part of its strategy, providing funding behind its long-term growth and shareholder returns. Over the last 5-yrs, smokeable and other comprehensive income grew at a 5.5% compounded annual growth rate despite volume declines.\n
\n
Shareholders receive a 7.35% dividend. The analyst has a $58 target price on the shares, while the consensus target is lower at $53.89. Altria stock closed on Wednesday at $46.79 per share.
\n
Chevron
\n
This energy giant is a solid way for investors who are more conservative to be positioned in the sector. Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) is a U.S.-based integrated oil and gas company, with worldwide operations in exploration and production, refining and marketing, transportation and petrochemicals. The company sports a sizable dividend and has a solid place in the sector when it comes to natural gas and liquefied natural gas.
\n
With the strongest financial base of the majors, coupled with an attractive relative asset base, many on Wall Street feel that Chevron offers the most straightforwardly positive risk/reward. Although current conditions do not warrant a large focus on production growth, Chevron possesses numerous medium-term drivers (Noble integration, Permian, TCO/WPMP expansion, Gulf of Mexico exploration, Vaca Muerta, and so on) that should support production levels in the coming years.
\n
IBM
\n
This old-school tech giant still offers investors a very solid entry point. International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) is a leading provider of enterprise solutions, offering a broad portfolio of information technology (IT) hardware, business and IT services, and a full suite of software solutions.
\n
The company integrates its hardware products with its software and services offerings in order to provide high-value solutions. Analysts have cited the company’s potential in the public cloud as a reason for their positive outlook going forward.
\n
CEO Ginni Rommety, who had been in the position since 2012, stepped down in January, and the stock market greeted the news in a very positive manner. Arvind Krishna, who has led the company’s cloud computing business, became the new chief executive. Rometty will remain as executive board chair until the end of the year.
\n
Holders of IBM stock receive a 4.69% dividend. The $175 BofA Securities price target is well above the $144.14 consensus figure. The shares closed at $139.82 on Wednesday.
\n
Shareholders receive a 5.21% dividend, which analysts feel comfortable will remain at current levels. The BofA Securities price target is $125, which compares to a $122.48 consensus target and the last Chevron stock trade on Wednesday at $102.93 a share.
\n
LyondellBasell
\n
This top chemical company with a sterling balance sheet is another solid play for conservative investors. LyondellBasell Industries N.V. (NYSE: LYB) manufactures chemicals and polymers, refines crude oil, produces gasoline blending components and develops and licenses technologies for production of polymers.
\n
Over half of earnings are generated in the company’s Olefins and Polyolefins Americas segment, where costs are linked to the price of cheap natural gas in the United States, while selling prices are correlated with the price of oil. The company has pursued a strategy of low-cost, high return on invested capital debottlenecks coupled with cash returns to shareholders.
\n
Note that debottlenecking is the process of identifying specific areas or equipment in oil and gas facilities that limit the flow of product (known as bottlenecks) and optimizing them so that overall capacity in the plant can be increased.
\n
The company offers a 4.50% dividend. About half of those were because of unavailable flight crews, showed a company list, which was viewed by CNBC. On Saturday, about 4%, or 123 flights, were canceled, the site showed.\nAmerican said it is trimming its schedule by about 1% through mid-July to help ease some of the disruptions, some of which it said resulted from bad weather at its Charlotte and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport hubs during the first half of June.\n\"The bad weather, combined with the labor shortages some of our vendors are contending with and the incredibly quick ramp up of customer demand, has led us to build in additional resilience and certainty to our operation by adjusting a fraction of our scheduled flying through mid-July,\" said American Airlines spokeswoman Sarah Jantz in a statement. \"We made targeted changes with the goal of impacting the fewest number of customers by adjusting flights in markets where we have multiple options for re-accommodation.\"\nBad weather has impacted flight crews' ability to get to assigned flights and bad weather can mean that crews can fall outside of the hours they are federally allowed to work, the spokeswoman said.\nDennis Tajer, spokesman for the Allied Pilots Association, which represents American's roughly 15,000 pilots, said the company should offer more overtime in advance to encourage staff to fill in as well as more flexibility in pilots' schedules to cover staffing shortages.\n\"They're trying to put a Band-Aid on something that needs stitches,\" said Tajer, who is also a Boeing 737 captain.\nAmerican is also racing to train all of the pilots it furloughed in between two federal aid packages that prohibited layoffs as well as its aviators who are due for periodic recurrent training. Jantz said American is on track to finish training furloughed pilots by the end of this month and added the company is offering overtime because of its operational issues.\nDelta Air Linescanceled more than 300 flights last Thanksgiving weekend and scores of others during Christmas during apilot shortage.\nThe weekend's disruptions, reported earlier by the View from the Wing airline blog, come just as carriers are trying to capture a surge in travel demand and stem record losses. American said in a filing earlier this month that it expects its second-quarter capacity to be down 20% to 25% from 2019, whileUnited Airlinessaid it expects its capacity to be down about 46% andDeltaforecast a 32% decline versus 2019. The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 is trending lower in the U.S., paving the way for easing restrictions on businesses. That's great news for individuals and Disney alike. The House of Mouse can cautiously start to reopen operations it had to pause. And with consumers finally allowed more entertainment options outside of their homes, the pent-up demand could be a boon for Disney shareholders.
\n
These positive trends can partly explain why Disney's stock is up by nearly 50% in the last six months. But that's not the whole story. Let's go a little further to answer what's got everyone talking about Disney's stock.
\n
\n
Disney parks in California will be filled to capacity when they reopen
\n
California announced it would allow theme parks to reopen, albeit at reduced capacity, starting April 1. After confirming this was not some cruel April Fool's joke, Disney had cause to celebrate. After all, this means Disneyland and California Adventure parks in Anaheim can open the turnstiles again. Disney does not break out the figures separately, but you can assume that the California parks are a major contributor to the parks, experiences, and products segment that brought in $6.8 billion in operating income in 2019.
\n
Southern California has had some of the toughest coronavirus restrictions in all of the U.S. Folks are ready to go out, and they trust Disney to provide a safe environment. Indeed, when Disney announced \"A Touch of Magic\" experience, a limited dining and shopping event at Disney's California Adventure park, with tickets on sale for $75 per person, it sold out within hours. That pent-up demand makes it likely parks will be filled to whatever capacity they are allowed to once they are open, and it will allow Disney to start increasing prices.
\n
\n
What this means for investors
\n
Disney's other major business -- streaming services -- continues to thrive. At the annual shareholder meeting, CEO Bob Chapek announced Disney+ had reached the 100 million subscriber milestone. Combined with the 51.1 million paying members of Hulu and ESPN+, the company now has a total of 151.1 million subs. And it's not done expanding, with plans to offer streaming services in additional countries throughout 2021.
\n
2021 appears on track to be a banner year for Disney and its shareholders. Theme parks, movie theatres, resorts, and cruise ships may generate operating income by the end of the year. Meanwhile, its streaming business will continue on an upward trajectory as it expands into new countries and adds fresh content to the platform.
\n
Summing it all up, it's no wonder there is a buzz in the investor community about Disney stock. Long-term investors will do well by acquiring shares in Disney before it's clear to everyone that 2021 should be a great year for the entertainment giant.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Is Everyone Talking About Disney Stock?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Is Everyone Talking About Disney Stock?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-03-17 09:37 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Coming off what could arguably be its most challenging year ever that was 2020, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) is bouncing back. The House of Mouse can cautiously start to reopen operations it had to pause. And with consumers finally allowed more entertainment options outside of their homes, the pent-up demand could be a boon for Disney shareholders.\nThese positive trends can partly explain why Disney's stock is up by nearly 50% in the last six months. But that's not the whole story. Let's go a little further to answer what's got everyone talking about Disney's stock.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nDisney parks in California will be filled to capacity when they reopen\nCalifornia announced it would allow theme parks to reopen, albeit at reduced capacity, starting April 1. After confirming this was not some cruel April Fool's joke, Disney had cause to celebrate. After all, this means Disneyland and California Adventure parks in Anaheim can open the turnstiles again. Disney does not break out the figures separately, but you can assume that the California parks are a major contributor to the parks, experiences, and products segment that brought in $6.8 billion in operating income in 2019.\nSouthern California has had some of the toughest coronavirus restrictions in all of the U.S. Folks are ready to go out, and they trust Disney to provide a safe environment. Indeed, when Disney announced \"A Touch of Magic\" experience, a limited dining and shopping event at Disney's California Adventure park, with tickets on sale for $75 per person, it sold out within hours. That pent-up demand makes it likely parks will be filled to whatever capacity they are allowed to once they are open, and it will allow Disney to start increasing prices.\nImage source: Disney.\nWhat this means for investors\nDisney's other major business -- streaming services -- continues to thrive. At the annual shareholder meeting, CEO Bob Chapek announced Disney+ had reached the 100 million subscriber milestone. Combined with the 51.1 million paying members of Hulu and ESPN+, the company now has a total of 151.1 million subs. And it's not done expanding, with plans to offer streaming services in additional countries throughout 2021.\n2021 appears on track to be a banner year for Disney and its shareholders. Theme parks, movie theatres, resorts, and cruise ships may generate operating income by the end of the year. Meanwhile, its streaming business will continue on an upward trajectory as it expands into new countries and adds fresh content to the platform.\nSumming it all up, it's no wonder there is a buzz in the investor community about Disney stock. Long-term investors will do well by acquiring shares in Disney before it's clear to everyone that 2021 should be a great year for the entertainment giant.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":452,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":324075055,"gmtCreate":1615947705477,"gmtModify":1704788799343,"author":{"id":"3575615055081158","authorId":"3575615055081158","name":"XKT1234","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/63b5c62b49f5990da13bc2a032d7f702","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575615055081158","authorIdStr":"3575615055081158"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/324075055","repostId":"1170570990","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1170570990","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1615946180,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1170570990?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-17 09:56","market":"us","language":"en","title":"GameStop Stock Rebounds From Steep Drop.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, rates have dived lower, with the 10-year Treasury trading at a 1.32% yield, down from near 1.70% at the end of May. The benchmark 30-year Treasury bond is back at the 1.94% level. These are the lowest interest rate levels since last winter.\nFor income investors, this is another setback in what has become over a ten-year problem. While rates certainly could rise again, one thing seems certain: the Federal Reserve will not raise rates until it is positive the economy is back at full strength. The only move the Fed looks poised to make in the near term is the beginning of the tapering of the $120 billion per month purchase of Treasury and mortgage debt.\nWe screened the BofA Securities research universe looking for blue chip stocks rated Buy that paid at least a 4% dividend. We found five that are very appealing now to growth and income investors. While all are rated Buy, it is important to remember that no single analyst report should be used as a sole basis for any buying or selling decision.\nAltria\nThis maker of tobacco products offers value investors a great entry point now and was hit recently as cigarette sales have slowed. Altria Group Inc. (NYSE: MO) is the parent company of Philip Morris USA (cigarettes), UST (smokeless), John Middleton (cigars), Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Philip Morris Capital. PMUSA enjoys a 51% share of the U.S. cigarette market, led by its top cigarette brand Marlboro.\nAltria also owns over 10% of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer. In March 2008, it spun off its international cigarette business to shareholders. In December 2018, the company acquired 35% of Juul Labs, and it has purchased a 45% stake in cannabis company Cronus for $1.8 billion.\nBofA Securities is very favorable toward the company’s plans for the future:\n\n Management presented at CAGNY (Consumer Analyst Group of New York) where it discussed a new corporate focus on ESG, additional details on its IQOS plans and its “Moving beyond smoking” 10-yr plan. Smokeables (cigarettes/cigars) will remain an important part of its strategy, providing funding behind its long-term growth and shareholder returns. Over the last 5-yrs, smokeable and other comprehensive income grew at a 5.5% compounded annual growth rate despite volume declines.\n\nShareholders receive a 7.35% dividend. The analyst has a $58 target price on the shares, while the consensus target is lower at $53.89. Altria stock closed on Wednesday at $46.79 per share.\nChevron\nThis energy giant is a solid way for investors who are more conservative to be positioned in the sector. Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) is a U.S.-based integrated oil and gas company, with worldwide operations in exploration and production, refining and marketing, transportation and petrochemicals. The company sports a sizable dividend and has a solid place in the sector when it comes to natural gas and liquefied natural gas.\nWith the strongest financial base of the majors, coupled with an attractive relative asset base, many on Wall Street feel that Chevron offers the most straightforwardly positive risk/reward. Although current conditions do not warrant a large focus on production growth, Chevron possesses numerous medium-term drivers (Noble integration, Permian, TCO/WPMP expansion, Gulf of Mexico exploration, Vaca Muerta, and so on) that should support production levels in the coming years.\nIBM\nThis old-school tech giant still offers investors a very solid entry point. International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) is a leading provider of enterprise solutions, offering a broad portfolio of information technology (IT) hardware, business and IT services, and a full suite of software solutions.\nThe company integrates its hardware products with its software and services offerings in order to provide high-value solutions. Analysts have cited the company’s potential in the public cloud as a reason for their positive outlook going forward.\nCEO Ginni Rommety, who had been in the position since 2012, stepped down in January, and the stock market greeted the news in a very positive manner. Arvind Krishna, who has led the company’s cloud computing business, became the new chief executive. Rometty will remain as executive board chair until the end of the year.\nHolders of IBM stock receive a 4.69% dividend. The $175 BofA Securities price target is well above the $144.14 consensus figure. The shares closed at $139.82 on Wednesday.\nShareholders receive a 5.21% dividend, which analysts feel comfortable will remain at current levels. The BofA Securities price target is $125, which compares to a $122.48 consensus target and the last Chevron stock trade on Wednesday at $102.93 a share.\nLyondellBasell\nThis top chemical company with a sterling balance sheet is another solid play for conservative investors. LyondellBasell Industries N.V. (NYSE: LYB) manufactures chemicals and polymers, refines crude oil, produces gasoline blending components and develops and licenses technologies for production of polymers.\nOver half of earnings are generated in the company’s Olefins and Polyolefins Americas segment, where costs are linked to the price of cheap natural gas in the United States, while selling prices are correlated with the price of oil. The company has pursued a strategy of low-cost, high return on invested capital debottlenecks coupled with cash returns to shareholders.\nNote that debottlenecking is the process of identifying specific areas or equipment in oil and gas facilities that limit the flow of product (known as bottlenecks) and optimizing them so that overall capacity in the plant can be increased.\nThe company offers a 4.50% dividend. BofA Securities has set a $117 price target. The consensus target is $118.41, and LyondellBasell stock ended Wednesday at $100.40 a share.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":696,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":126570135,"gmtCreate":1624580115027,"gmtModify":1703840737385,"author":{"id":"3575615055081158","authorId":"3575615055081158","name":"XKT1234","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/63b5c62b49f5990da13bc2a032d7f702","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575615055081158","authorIdStr":"3575615055081158"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/126570135","repostId":"2146023477","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2146023477","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1624575912,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2146023477?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-25 07:05","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nasdaq and S&P 500 end at record highs; About half of those were because of unavailable flight crews, showed a company list, which was viewed by CNBC. Meanwhile,Southwest Airlinesforecast its July capacity to be off just 3% from 2019, down from a 7% decline this month.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":346,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":324074481,"gmtCreate":1615947877443,"gmtModify":1704788800153,"author":{"id":"3575615055081158","authorId":"3575615055081158","name":"XKT1234","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/63b5c62b49f5990da13bc2a032d7f702","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575615055081158","authorIdStr":"3575615055081158"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Disney is back","listText":"Disney is back","text":"Disney is back","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/324074481","repostId":"2119763829","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":452,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":324075055,"gmtCreate":1615947705477,"gmtModify":1704788799343,"author":{"id":"3575615055081158","authorId":"3575615055081158","name":"XKT1234","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/63b5c62b49f5990da13bc2a032d7f702","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575615055081158","authorIdStr":"3575615055081158"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/324075055","repostId":"1170570990","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":377,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":362451639,"gmtCreate":1614661070821,"gmtModify":1704773680120,"author":{"id":"3575615055081158","authorId":"3575615055081158","name":"XKT1234","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/63b5c62b49f5990da13bc2a032d7f702","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575615055081158","authorIdStr":"3575615055081158"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/362451639","repostId":"2116856399","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2116856399","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1614648660,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2116856399?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-02 09:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"All Apple retail stores in U.S. open for first time in almost a year; stock jumps","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2116856399","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"For the first time in almost a year, all of Apple Inc.'s U.S. retail stores are open. That milestone, along with news over the weekend jumping more than 5% on Monday, their biggest gain in more than four months.Apple closed all its stores outside China on March 13, 2020 , as the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe.
