Young investors, in particular, have been drawn to the decentralized and unregulated nature of digital currencies, as well as the neck-breaking volatility that often comes with owning crypto.</p>\n<h2>Dogecoin is flying, but you're foolish if you're buying</h2>\n<p>For much of the past week, it's cryptocurrency <b>Dogecoin</b> (CRYPTO:DOGE) that's been garnering the attention of momentum players, retail investors, and digital currency enthusiasts. As of late afternoon Friday, April 16, Dogecoin could be purchased for about $0.31 per token. For context, it began the week at $0.07, and is higher by more than 15,400% over the trailing year. That would top the gain of every single publicly traded stock over the past year.</p>\n<p>If you're wondering why Dogecoin has been on fire, it looks to be a combination of tweets/pumping from Elon Musk, the CEO of <b>Tesla Motors</b>, and technical moves, which take into account volume and chart patterns.</p>\n<p>However, the story behind Dogecoin and its real-world utility are major red flags that true investors should be aware of. For instance, two engineers created Dogecoin in 2013 in a matter of hours as a joke. The idea was to combine the two buzziest things on the internet at the time -- a Shiba Inu dog meme and the cryptocurrency craze -- into a single entity. Thus was born Dogecoin.</p>\n<p>Dogecoin lacks substantive differentiation, relative to other digital currencies, and it has extremely limited utility. According to <i>International Business Times</i> via Dogecoins.com, 48 businesses accept Dogecoin. Meanwhile, online company directory Cryptwerk listed in the neighborhood of 1,200 place, stores, and services accepting Dogecoin, as of April 16.</p>\n<p>But here's a number to keep in mind: There are more than 32 million businesses in the U.S. alone. Further, according to <i>The Hill</i>, there are an estimated 582 million entrepreneurs worldwide. About 1,200 of these businesses, at most, accept Dogecoin. That's how minimal the utility is.</p>\n<h2>This trio of stocks make for much smarter investments than Dogecoin</h2>\n<p>Rather than throwing your hard-earned money at a pump-and-dump asset like Dogecoin, consider putting your money to work in the following three much smarter buys.</p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CRM\">Salesforce</a>.com</h2>\n<p>A considerably smarter way of putting your money to work right now would be to buy shares of cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) software provider <b>salesforce.com</b> (NYSE:CRM). Despite its megacap size ($214 billion market cap), it offers sustainable sales growth of 20% or higher for the next half-decade, if not longer.</p>\n<p>For those unfamiliar, CRM software is used by consumer-facing businesses to handle tasks like logging customer information and overseeing service or product issues. It's also handy when managing online marketing campaigns and as a predictive tool for suggesting new products and services to existing clients based on their buying history or other metrics. CRM software makes a lot of sense for the retail and service industries, but is finding plenty of momentum in nontraditional places, such as banks and hospitals.</p>\n<p>What makes salesforce such a beast is the company's utter dominance of global CRM revenue. In the first half of 2020, IDC estimated that salesforce controlled just shy of 20% of global CRM revenue. That was more than No.'s 2 through 5 on its global share list, combined. This makes salesforce the logical go-to for big businesses looking to incorporate CRM software.</p>\n<p>Salesforce is also in the process of acquiring enterprise-focused communications platform <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/WORK\">Slack Technologies</a></b>&nbsp;in a cash-and-stock deal that was valued at $27.7 billion when it was announced. If this deal closes, salesforce will be able to use Slack's platform as a jumping-off point to cross-sell to smaller businesses. This'll be its key to reaching $50 billion in annual sales in five years.</p>\n<h2>Jushi Holdings</h2>\n<p>Marijuana stocks are arguably <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of the most overcrowded trades at the moment -- and for good reason. According to <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NFC.U\">New Frontier</a> Data, weed sales in the U.S. are expected to grow by 21% annually between 2019 and 2025, ultimately hitting $41.5 billion by mid-decade. One of the smartest ways to take advantage of this growth is with small-cap multistate operator (MSO) <b>Jushi Holdings</b> (OTC:JUSHF).</p>\n<p>Jushi's growth strategy is a bit different from most MSOs. Instead of trying to plant its proverbial flag in as many states as possible, Jushi is focusing most of its effort in three states: Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Virginia. The common theme is that all three states limit how they assign retail licenses. Pennsylvania and Illinois cap the number of allowable retail stores, while Virginia assigns dispensary licenses by jurisdiction. Put another way, 80% or more of Jushi's revenue will come from markets where competition will be limited or nonexistent. It's a smart strategy that'll allow Jushi to effectively build up its brand and gain a following.</p>\n<p>Despite its small size, Jushi has not been afraid to go shopping. It's acquired assets in Pennsylvania and Virginia to expand its presence in these core states, and has used acquisitions to gain a footprint in the California and Nevada markets. California is the largest cannabis market in the world by annual sales, while Nevada is expected to lead the nation in cannabis spending per capita by 2024.</p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> final note, roughly $45 million of the first $250 million in capital raised by the company came from insiders and executives. When the interests (and wallets) of execs line up with their shareholders, good things tend to happen.</p>\n<h2>Pinterest</h2>\n<p>A third stock that's a considerably smarter buy than Dogecoin is social media up-and-comer <b>Pinterest</b> (NYSE:PINS).</p>\n<p>To state the obvious, Pinterest had a great 2020. With the pandemic keeping people in their homes, many turned to social sites for engagement. This included Pinterest, which picked up a net of 124 million monthly active users (MAU) last year. But understand that Pinterest was wooing new MAUs long before the pandemic struck. In the three years preceding the pandemic, net MAU growth averaged 30%, compared to the 37% MAU growth recorded in 2020.</p>\n<p>What's notable about the users Pinterest is attracting is that they're predominantly from international markets. More than 90% of the 124 million net MAUs gained in 2020 were from outside the United States. On one hand, average revenue per user (ARPU) is considerably lower outside the U.S., meaning Pinterest isn't generating a lot of revenue from the new users it's picking up. However, it also gives the company ample opportunity to grow its international ARPU significantly this decade. As more international users sign up, ad dollars will climb to reach these users.</p>\n<p>Best of all, we're witnessing the early stages of what could be an absolute e-commerce giant. Think about it this way: Pinterest's user base is willingly sharing the things, places, and services that interest them. This makes Pinterest one of the most-targeted platforms on the planet for merchants that can meet these interests. Despite its megacap size ($214 billion market cap), it offers sustainable sales growth of 20% or higher for the next half-decade, if not longer.\nFor those unfamiliar, CRM software is used by consumer-facing businesses to handle tasks like logging customer information and overseeing service or product issues. It's also handy when managing online marketing campaigns and as a predictive tool for suggesting new products and services to existing clients based on their buying history or other metrics. According to New Frontier Data, weed sales in the U.S. are expected to grow by 21% annually between 2019 and 2025, ultimately hitting $41.5 billion by mid-decade. One of the smartest ways to take advantage of this growth is with small-cap multistate operator (MSO) Jushi Holdings (OTC:JUSHF).\nJushi's growth strategy is a bit different from most MSOs. With the pandemic keeping people in their homes, many turned to social sites for engagement. This included Pinterest, which picked up a net of 124 million monthly active users (MAU) last year. But understand that Pinterest was wooing new MAUs long before the pandemic struck. In the three years preceding the pandemic, net MAU growth averaged 30%, compared to the 37% MAU growth recorded in 2020.\nWhat's notable about the users Pinterest is attracting is that they're predominantly from international markets. More than 90% of the 124 million net MAUs gained in 2020 were from outside the United States. On one hand, average revenue per user (ARPU) is considerably lower outside the U.S., meaning Pinterest isn't generating a lot of revenue from the new users it's picking up. However, it also gives the company ample opportunity to grow its international ARPU significantly this decade. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.</p><p>Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.</p><p><b>S&amp;P 500 Analysts Are Actually Bullish</b></p><p>Analysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of <b>ViacomCBS</b> and <b>Discovery</b> before they sold off.</p><p>But overall, analysts — like usual — are mostly bullish on S&amp;P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.</p><p>And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.</p><p>That's the highest number of S&amp;P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&amp;P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.</p><p><b>But Analysts See Pockets Of Overvaluation</b></p><p>American Airlines is the S&amp;P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.</p><p>Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.</p><p>As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?</p><p>Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.</p><p>Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.</p><p>It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.</p><p><b>Watch Out For S&amp;P 500 Dividend Darlings</b></p><p>High dividend payers in the S&amp;P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.</p><p>Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&amp;P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.</p><p>Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.</p><p>It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. But their warnings are still going unheeded on a number of S&P 500 companies.Nearly a dozen S&P 500 companies, including industrials American Airlines and Snap-on plus communications services Lumen Technologies are still grossly overvalued compared to analysts' 12-month price targets on the stocks, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith.By analysts' estimates, all 11 of these S&P 500 stocks are at least 10% overvalued. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.S&P 500 Analysts Are Actually BullishAnalysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of ViacomCBS and Discovery before they sold off.But overall, analysts — like usual — are mostly bullish on S&P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.That's the highest number of S&P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.But Analysts See Pockets Of OvervaluationAmerican Airlines is the S&P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.Watch Out For S&P 500 Dividend DarlingsHigh dividend payers in the S&P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.</p><p>Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.</p><p><b>S&amp;P 500 Analysts Are Actually Bullish</b></p><p>Analysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of <b>ViacomCBS</b> and <b>Discovery</b> before they sold off.</p><p>But overall, analysts — like usual — are mostly bullish on S&amp;P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.</p><p>And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.</p><p>That's the highest number of S&amp;P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&amp;P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.</p><p><b>But Analysts See Pockets Of Overvaluation</b></p><p>American Airlines is the S&amp;P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.</p><p>Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.</p><p>As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?</p><p>Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.</p><p>Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.</p><p>It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.</p><p><b>Watch Out For S&amp;P 500 Dividend Darlings</b></p><p>High dividend payers in the S&amp;P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.</p><p>Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&amp;P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.</p><p>Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.</p><p>It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.That's the highest number of S&P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. And it's easy to see why.Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.Watch Out For S&P 500 Dividend DarlingsHigh dividend payers in the S&P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. If this deal closes, salesforce will be able to use Slack's platform as a jumping-off point to cross-sell to smaller businesses. This'll be its key to reaching $50 billion in annual sales in five years.</p>\n<h2>Jushi Holdings</h2>\n<p>Marijuana stocks are arguably <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of the most overcrowded trades at the moment -- and for good reason. According to <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NFC.U\">New Frontier</a> Data, weed sales in the U.S. are expected to grow by 21% annually between 2019 and 2025, ultimately hitting $41.5 billion by mid-decade. One of the smartest ways to take advantage of this growth is with small-cap multistate operator (MSO) <b>Jushi Holdings</b> (OTC:JUSHF).</p>\n<p>Jushi's growth strategy is a bit different from most MSOs. Instead of trying to plant its proverbial flag in as many states as possible, Jushi is focusing most of its effort in three states: Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Virginia. The common theme is that all three states limit how they assign retail licenses. Pennsylvania and Illinois cap the number of allowable retail stores, while Virginia assigns dispensary licenses by jurisdiction. But understand that Pinterest was wooing new MAUs long before the pandemic struck. In the three years preceding the pandemic, net MAU growth averaged 30%, compared to the 37% MAU growth recorded in 2020.</p>\n<p>What's notable about the users Pinterest is attracting is that they're predominantly from international markets. More than 90% of the 124 million net MAUs gained in 2020 were from outside the United States. On one hand, average revenue per user (ARPU) is considerably lower outside the U.S., meaning Pinterest isn't generating a lot of revenue from the new users it's picking up. However, it also gives the company ample opportunity to grow its international ARPU significantly this decade. Although the futures are up less than 1% in March, their average daily range as a percentage of the prior day's close has been close to 3%. That's the highest reading since last September, when the futures tumbled as much as 14.4% in just 12 trading days.</p><p>   Since topping in mid-February, and based on a potential Elliott Wave count, the futures, on their up moves, have been struggling with the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level:</p><p>   Retracement rallies in mid- and later-February retraced 60.2% and 61.4% of preceding waves, ultimately leading to fresh lows.</p><p>   More recently, since the March 5 trough, the futures rallied to a high of 13,285.50, retracing as much as 64.4% of the entire February/March slide, while stalling below the prior 4th wave high at 13,341.25.</p><p>   With this, over the past two days the futures have been unable to close above the February/March 61.8% level at 13,241.18. Now, on Thursday, they are once again under pressure.</p><p>   Thus, based on this analysis, potential remains for a more virulent decline, or a Wave 3 or C, to new lows.  </p><p>   A close above 13,241.18, however, could potentially help to calm the situation. As Nancy Vanden Houten, lead economist at Oxford Economics (OE) points out, layoffs have been persistently higher than 665,000 - the worst week of the Great Recession - for more than a year now.   \"The elevated level of claims – still higher than the Global Financial Crisis peak – underscores why the Fed will be extremely patient before making a policy change and not act pre-emptively,\" She writes.   Ongoing jobless claims   , reported on a one-week lag, edged down to 4.124 million, 540,000 more that economists projected.   As if to punctuate the extent to which the wider economic recovery is outpacing that of the labor market, east coast manufacturing activity has shifted into overdrive this month.   The Philadelphia Federal Reserve's Business Index  - aka Philly Fed - posted an impressive reading of 51.8, surging to its highest level in nearly half a century with a whopping 27.7 point jump.   The acceleration echoes and magnifies the New York Fed's Empire State report released on Monday, which also showed manufacturing activity gaining steam.   \"Looking ahead, solid goods demand, rising business investment, and generous federal pandemic relief will drive a sustained regional manufacturing expansion,\" says Oren Klachkin, lead U.S. economist at OE. \"Our State Recovery Trackers for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware suggest their recoveries remain on track, and regional conditions will stay solid as the broad recovery advances.\"   Spiking Treasury yields appear to be luring investors away from higher-risk equities in morning trading.   The Nasdaq   /weak tech    is dragging the overall S&P 500    into the red, while financial stocks  are helping to keep the blue-chip Dow    above the water-line.    (Stephen Culp)   *****   U.S. STOCKS MIXED: TECH TUMBLES, FINANCIALS FINE (1009 EDT/1409 GMT)   Major U.S. indexes are mixed in early trade. The Dow    is near the flat line, while the Nasdaq    is sliding amid a yield spike.      The Nasdaq is off around 1.7% with the U.S. 10-Year Treasury yield   , now around 1.75%, after hitting its highest level since January 2020.   With this, major S&P 500    sectors are mixed. Tech  is being hit the hardest, while financials    are posting a strong rise. Overall, growth    is underperforming value   .   Here is where markets stand in early trade:   (Terence Gabriel)   *****   NASDAQ 100 FUTURES: GAMING MARCH MADNESS (0900 EDT/1300 GMT)   With the U.S. 10-Year Treasury yield    jumping to its highest level since January 2020, it's perhaps no surprise that CME e-mini Nasdaq 100 futures    are sharply lower in premarket trade.   Action has been a bit mad this month. Although the futures are up less than 1% in March, their average daily range as a percentage of the prior day's close has been close to 3%. That's the highest reading since last September, when the futures tumbled as much as 14.4% in just 12 trading days.   Since topping in mid-February, and based on a potential Elliott Wave count, the futures, on their up moves, have been struggling with the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level:   Retracement rallies in mid- and later-February retraced 60.2% and 61.4% of preceding waves, ultimately leading to fresh lows.   More recently, since the March 5 trough, the futures rallied to a high of 13,285.50, retracing as much as 64.4% of the entire February/March slide, while stalling below the prior 4th wave high at 13,341.25.   With this, over the past two days the futures have been unable to close above the February/March 61.8% level at 13,241.18. Now, on Thursday, they are once again under pressure.   Thus, based on this analysis, potential remains for a more virulent decline, or a Wave 3 or C, to new lows.     A close above 13,241.18, however, could potentially help to calm the situation. That said, 13,341.25, and then additional Fibonacci barriers at 13,488.39/13,525.64, may still be hurdles against an advance to new highs.
