However, the company also said it produced none of its higher-end Model S sedans or Model X SUVs for the period ending March. It delivered2,020 older Model S sedans and Model X SUVs from inventory.

On Monday’s earnings call, Musk said the new version of the company’s Model S sedans will finally be delivered to customers starting in May 2021, with Model X deliveries to begin in the third quarter of the year. Musk and CFO Zachary Kirkhorn both said supply chain issues are likely to remain a challenge for Tesla this year.

In January 2021 (during a fourth-quarter 2020 earnings update) Musk had said that the Model S Plaid was already in production would be delivered starting in February 2021. Service expansion is not keeping pace with the volume of vehicles sold.

Tesla said it has weathered chip shortages that have plagued the auto industry in part by “pivoting extremely quickly to new microcontrollers, while simultaneously developing firmware for new chips made by new suppliers.” It did not disclose the names of its new suppliers.

It also reiterated Musk’s frequent claim that cameras, not radar, are a better path toward autonomous vehicles. “Our AI-based software architecture has been increasingly reliant on cameras, to the point where radar is becoming unnecessary earlier than expected. As a result, our FSD [Full Self-Driving] team is fully focused on evolving to a vision-based autonomous system and we are nearly ready to switch the US market to Tesla Vision,” the company said in its earnings release.

Revenue for its energy generation and storage business nearly doubled for Tesla versus the same period in 2020, when Musk said Covid, then an emerging pandemic, had slowed its energy business to a crawl. He said Tesla would probably “achieve volume production” of these cells in 12 to 18 months.

The company revealed in February it purchased $1.5 billion in bitcoin and would potentially invest in other cryptocurrencies in the future. The sudden price change applied retroactively to some vexed customers.Musk said on the Q1 2021 call that he is aiming for homes with solar rooftops and batteries from Tesla to function as a “giant distributed utility” that can help incumbent electrical utilities supply customers with all the electricity they need as demand and extreme weather events increase.Executives did not say how they would change their production or mix of battery cells from suppliers in order to make a higher volume of vehicles and energy storage products in 2021.Musk said the company’s 4680 cells, which it developed independently and makes at a pilot plant in Fremont, California, are not yet reliable enough to be shipped in Tesla vehicles. He said Tesla would probably “achieve volume production” of these cells in 12 to 18 months. The company revealed in February it purchased $1.5 billion in bitcoin and would potentially invest in other cryptocurrencies in the future. By April, bitcoin rose to record levels before pulling back. In its statement of cash flows, Tesla revealed that it had sold $272 million worth of “digital assets,” presumably bitcoin, during the quarter.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":278,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":370723109,"gmtCreate":1618629311801,"gmtModify":1704713606305,"author":{"id":"3577977093920695","authorId":"3577977093920695","name":"YTFtrading","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d49d564eebabf7c6557437908c7e07f1","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577977093920695","authorIdStr":"3577977093920695"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice!","listText":"Nice!","text":"Nice!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/370723109","repostId":"1131521200","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":340,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":370720740,"gmtCreate":1618629190780,"gmtModify":1704713604818,"author":{"id":"3577977093920695","authorId":"3577977093920695","name":"YTFtrading","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d49d564eebabf7c6557437908c7e07f1","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577977093920695","authorIdStr":"3577977093920695"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Keep it simple!?","listText":"Keep it simple!?","text":"Keep it simple!?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/370720740","repostId":"2127076940","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2127076940","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1618537658,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2127076940?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-16 09:47","market":"us","language":"en","title":"84% Of Warren Buffett's Portfolio In 2021 Is In These 3 Categories","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2127076940","media":"Benzinga","summary":"The legendary value investor and Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffett has an unmatched track r","content":"
The legendary value investor and Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffett has an unmatched track record of market-beating returns for more than half a century. The Labor Department on Fridayreportedthat nonfarm payrolls jumped by 379,000 for the month and the unemployment rate fell to 6.2%. He did not elaborate.Tesla is now aiming to produce 2,000 Model S and X vehicles per week later this year. The company said Monday it expects more than 50% vehicle delivery growth in 2021 overall, which implies minimum deliveries around 750,000 vehicles this year. The fact Tesla grew vehicle unit sales by more than 100% year over year but grew service centers by only 28% and its mobile service fleet by only 22% explains why some Tesla customers face frustratingly long wait times for repairs. Service expansion is not keeping pace with the volume of vehicles sold.Tesla said it has weathered chip shortages that have plagued the auto industry in part by “pivoting extremely quickly to new microcontrollers, while simultaneously developing firmware for new chips made by new suppliers.” It did not disclose the names of its new suppliers. It also reiterated Musk’s frequent claim that cameras, not radar, are a better path toward autonomous vehicles. “Our AI-based software architecture has been increasingly reliant on cameras, to the point where radar is becoming unnecessary earlier than expected. As a result, our FSD [Full Self-Driving] team is fully focused on evolving to a vision-based autonomous system and we are nearly ready to switch the US market to Tesla Vision,” the company said in its earnings release.Revenue for its energy generation and storage business nearly doubled for Tesla versus the same period in 2020, when Musk said Covid, then an emerging pandemic, had slowed its energy business to a crawl. But energy revenue declined from $787 million in the fourth quarter to $595 million in the first quarter of 2021.Recently, Tesla increased prices for its solar rooftops by 50%, and now requires anyone ordering solar photovoltaics (including Tesla solar roof tiles) to also order the Powerwall, Tesla’s home energy storage system. In its statement of cash flows, Tesla revealed that it had sold $272 million worth of “digital assets,” presumably bitcoin, during the quarter.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":278,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":140499152,"gmtCreate":1625667918876,"gmtModify":1703746081290,"author":{"id":"3577977093920695","authorId":"3577977093920695","name":"YTFtrading","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d49d564eebabf7c6557437908c7e07f1","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577977093920695","authorIdStr":"3577977093920695"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting post","listText":"Interesting post","text":"Interesting post","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/140499152","repostId":"1105988207","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105988207","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625667035,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1105988207?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-07 22:10","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Trump says he'll sue Facebook's Zuckerberg, Twitter's Dorsey - Axios","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105988207","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"Former President Donald Trump is announcing lawsuitsagainst Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter","content":"
\n
Former President Donald Trump is announcing lawsuitsagainst Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter(NYSE:TWTR)chief Jack Dorsey, Axios reports.
\n
Trump was ousted from the social media platforms in the wake of the U.S. Capitol attack on Jan. 6; The 90 year’s old billionaire, who held $279 billion in stocks says, \"The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.\"
\n
He adds further that investing is very simple.
\n
“You don’t need to be a rocket scientist. Investing is not a game where the guy with a 160 IQ always beats the guy with a 130 IQ. Rationality is essential. You need a stable personality”
\n
He used a basic value investing strategy to generate a 20.0% average annual return since Berkshire’s inception in 1965, almost double compared to the S&P 500 returns of 10.2%.
\n
Buffett, who is worth nearly $100 billion according to Forbes, Portfolio Insider & Bloomberg, has been using a concentrated portfolio strategy instead of diversification.
\n
The legendary investor held 84.29% of the stake in three sectors and his top ten holdings weighted around 88% of the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK-B) portfolio. These three sectors include information technology, finance, and consumer staples.
\n
What’s more, Buffett’s concentrated portfolio strategy worked even in the most volatile and unpredictable year. His investment holding earned $26.7 billion in net unrealized gains from its existing stock positions during the pandemic year while realized gains came in at $4.5 billion.
\n
“In aggregate, we expect our share of the huge pile of earnings retained by Berkshire’s non-controlled businesses (what others would label our equity portfolio) to eventually deliver us an equal or greater amount of capital gains. Over our 56-year tenure, that expectation has been met,” Buffett said in an investor letter.
\n
Let’s start digging into stocks from three sectors Warren Buffett like the most:
\n
Information Technology: 44.25%
\n
Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) represents 44.25% of Berkshire’s portfolio, valued at around $117 billion.
\n
While Warren Buffett is a value investor and he strictly follows his stock selection criteria, he has now moved his portfolio focus towards growth stocks, thanks to his fund managers Todd Combs and Ted Weschler.
\n
Nevertheless, Apple’s strong business model played a big role in enhancing Buffett’s confidence.
\n
“I don’t think of Apple as a stock. I think of it as our third business,” Buffett said. “It’s probably the best business I know in the world. And that is a bigger commitment than we have in any business except insurance and the railroad,” he added.
\n
Fortunately, the legendary investor’s stock-picking strategy worked in the case of the iPhone maker. Shares of the world’s largest tech giant rallied 380% since Berkshire first initiated a position in Apple in 2016. Apple’s dividend-paying strategy is further adding to shareholders' returns. Berkshire collected more than $770 million in dividend income from Apple.
\n
The cloud-based data platform Snowflake Inc. (NYSE: SNOW) represented only a small portion of Buffett's portfolio at the end of the latest quarter. Snowflake is ranked at 21st spot in Buffett’s portfolio and weighted around 0.66%, according to the latest 13F filings.
\n
Financial Sector: 27%
\n
The financial sector is one of Buffett’s most favorite areas of investment. Although the legendary investors sold out his Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and a few other financial stocks positions during the pandemic year, he still holds a big position in several banking and financial services stocks.
\n
The financial sector accounted for 27% of Berkshire Hathaway's stock portfolio at the end of 2020, down from 43% in the prior year.
\n
Four out of his top ten positions belong to the financial sector. Bank of America is Buffett’s largest financial stock holding followed by American Express Company (NYSE: AXP), Moody’s Corporation (NYSE: MCO), and U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB). In total, Berkshire Hathaway held 14 financial-sector stocks positions at the end of 2020. Buffett likes to invest in well-established financial companies due to two main reasons: share price appreciation and dividends.
\n
Consumer Staples: 12.73%
\n
Warren Buffett’s Berkshire has long been holding positions in consumer staples companies amid their steady growth potential. Further bolstering investment thesis in consumer staples companies is their predictable nature of cash generation potential.
\n
Dividends play a big role in enhancing shareholder's overall returns. Warren Buffett expects to receive $3.8 billion in dividends this year from its portfolio holdings. Berkshire’s third-largest stock holding Coca-Cola Co (NYSE: KO) has lifted dividends in the past 58 straight years.
\n
Buffett also held a big stake in Kraft Heinz Co (NASDAQ: KHC) since 2015. That'll be important to note as we talk about the company's future.

The pandemic was a disaster

No matter how you look at it, the pandemic has been a disaster for Las Vegas Sands. The company saw revenue drop nearly 75%, and EBITDA went negative.

LVS Revenue (TTM) data by YCharts

While some casino companies have relied on the U.S. market, which hasn't been hit as hard as Asia, Las Vegas Sands was highly reliant on Asia, which has had many more restrictions due to COVID-19. And the company is selling its Las Vegas properties for $6.25 billion, so in the future, it will be 100% reliant on Asia when that deal is closed.

Relying on Asia can be a double-edged sword for casino operators. The market is extremely big and very profitable when operations are going well, but operators are also at the whim of government regulations and restrictions. Macao has gone through ups and downs depending on how open China's visas are to the region. Singapore pushed through a higher tax rate even after Las Vegas Sands committed to spending $3.3 billion to expand Marina Bay Sands.

If Macao and Singapore gambling returns to 2019 levels sometime late this year or early next year, it would be great for gambling operations, but there's no guarantee that will happen, and we could see a very slow recovery in some countries where vaccine roll-outs aren't going as fast as they are in the U.S.

Missing out on internet gambling

One of the bigger mistakes late CEO Sheldon Adelson made was fighting online gambling in the U.S. Las Vegas Sands didn't just fail to invest in the booming business; it actively fought its legalization. That puts the company well behind competitors.

In 2020, online gambling reached $1.4 billion to $1.5 billion in gross gambling revenue in the U.S, according to H2 Gambling Capital, making up 20% of the market. Revenue is expected to grow rapidly as sports betting and iGaming are expanded across the U.S. with some expecting revenue to more than double. Las Vegas Sands may miss the boat entirely.

Is there any value in Las Vegas Sands?

At today's stock price, Las Vegas Sands' enterprise value (EV) is $59.9 billion, not much lower than it was at the end of 2019 despite the pandemic.

Even if we disregard the sale of Las Vegas operations, it'll be very difficult for Las Vegas Sands to return to the 11.3 EV/EBITDA multiple by the end of 2021. If Asian gamblers don't return in droves, the company may not reach 2019 EBITDA levels for years.

As we've seen, real growth in the gambling industry is in online gambling. What I'm most worried about is that Las Vegas Sands has no presence in that business. Singapore pushed through a higher tax rate even after Las Vegas Sands committed to spending $3.3 billion to expand Marina Bay Sands. If Macao and Singapore gambling returns to 2019 levels sometime late this year or early next year, it would be great for gambling operations, but there's no guarantee that will happen, and we could see a very slow recovery in some countries where vaccine roll-outs aren't going as fast as they are in the U.S.Missing out on internet gamblingOne of the bigger mistakes late CEO Sheldon Adelson made was fighting online gambling in the U.S. At today's stock price, Las Vegas Sands' enterprise value (EV) is $59.9 billion, not much lower than it was at the end of 2019 despite the pandemic.Even if we disregard the sale of Las Vegas operations, it'll be very difficult for Las Vegas Sands to return to the 11.3 EV/EBITDA multiple by the end of 2021. If Asian gamblers don't return in droves, the company may not reach 2019 EBITDA levels for years. As we've seen, real growth in the gambling industry is in online gambling. What I'm most worried about is that Las Vegas Sands has no presence in that business. That's why Las Vegas Sands stock isn't a buy today, but given the potential for a sharp pandemic recovery in 2021, I wouldn't short the stock either.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":406,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":320952590,"gmtCreate":1615003779910,"gmtModify":1704778122258,"author":{"id":"3577977093920695","authorId":"3577977093920695","name":"YTFtrading","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d49d564eebabf7c6557437908c7e07f1","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3577977093920695","authorIdStr":"3577977093920695"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/320952590","repostId":"1116031861","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1116031861","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"为用户提供金融资讯、行情、数据,旨在帮助投资者理解世界,做投资决策。","home_visible":1,"media_name":"老虎资讯综合","id":"102","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1614955424,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1116031861?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-05 22:43","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Senseonics plunged more than 9%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1116031861","media":"老虎资讯综合","summary":"(March 5) Senseonics plunged more than 9%.
