But their warnings are still going unheeded on a number of S&amp;P 500 companies.</p><p>Nearly a dozen S&amp;P 500 companies, including industrials <b>American Airlines</b> and <b>Snap-on</b> plus communications services <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/LUMN\">Lumen Technologies</a></b> are still grossly overvalued compared to analysts' 12-month price targets on the stocks, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&amp;P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith.</p><p>By analysts' estimates, all 11 of these S&amp;P 500 stocks are at least 10% overvalued. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.</p><p>Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.</p><p><b>S&amp;P 500 Analysts Are Actually Bullish</b></p><p>Analysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of <b>ViacomCBS</b> and <b>Discovery</b> before they sold off.</p><p>But overall, analysts — like usual — are mostly bullish on S&amp;P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.</p><p>And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.</p><p>That's the highest number of S&amp;P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&amp;P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.</p><p><b>But Analysts See Pockets Of Overvaluation</b></p><p>American Airlines is the S&amp;P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.</p><p>Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.</p><p>As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?</p><p>Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.</p><p>Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.</p><p>It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.</p><p><b>Watch Out For S&amp;P 500 Dividend Darlings</b></p><p>High dividend payers in the S&amp;P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.</p><p>Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&amp;P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.</p><p>Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.</p><p>It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. But their warnings are still going unheeded on a number of S&P 500 companies.Nearly a dozen S&P 500 companies, including industrials American Airlines and Snap-on plus communications services Lumen Technologies are still grossly overvalued compared to analysts' 12-month price targets on the stocks, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith.By analysts' estimates, all 11 of these S&P 500 stocks are at least 10% overvalued. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.S&P 500 Analysts Are Actually BullishAnalysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of ViacomCBS and Discovery before they sold off.But overall, analysts — like usual — are mostly bullish on S&P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.That's the highest number of S&P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.But Analysts See Pockets Of OvervaluationAmerican Airlines is the S&P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.Watch Out For S&P 500 Dividend DarlingsHigh dividend payers in the S&P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. Analysts have forecast console sales would decline next year.</p>\n<p>A series of marquee game releases is expected to drive software sales next fiscal year to 250 million units, far more than the record 205 million units forecast for the current year, according to the partners and suppliers, speaking anonymously as the plans are not public. Analysts have also projected software sales would fall next year.</p>\n<p>Some of the suppliers have been briefed while other partners established their own forecasts based on orders. A Nintendo spokesman declined to comment.</p>\n<p>The coronavirus outbreak was at first a brake and then an accelerant for Nintendo, choking its supply and logistics before triggering a demand surge with global lockdowns driving people to seek entertainment and escape. Component suppliers said shortages would persist at least until June and the situation may not improve for the rest of the year.</p>\n<p>Makers of NAND flash memory -- the media on which packaged Switch software is sold -- are preparing more units for the coming fiscal year than they supplied in the current one, the people involved in the supply chain said. Software developers similarly are prioritizing the Switch for their upcoming game releases as the console is almost certain to surpass the 100 million units sold threshold, assuring a large audience of potential customers. Analysts have forecast console sales would decline next year.\nA series of marquee game releases is expected to drive software sales next fiscal year to 250 million units, far more than the record 205 million units forecast for the current year, according to the partners and suppliers, speaking anonymously as the plans are not public. Analysts have also projected software sales would fall next year.\nSome of the suppliers have been briefed while other partners established their own forecasts based on orders. But Paulsen believes it’s more likely the group will endure through higher rates.\n“It might have less to do with yields than it does with just facing a glass ceiling,” he added. “I’mnot totally convinced that we’re breaking down. We might just be hitting the ceiling, bouncing down for a minute and maybe going to take it out yet at some point here in the future.”\nPaulsen contends Big Tech and growth, which he classifies as “New-Era” stocks, will retain their attractiveness to investors.\n“If it does ultimately achieve a new relative-price high, might its leadership persevere and perhaps even strengthen? That is what happened the last two times the Nasdaq spent multiple years as an underperformer,” he wrote.\nDespite his optimism, Paulsen acknowledges it’s reasonable to expect a phase of underperformance, consolidation or even a temporary meltdown.\n“It’s important to realize that we’re just one year into this new economic expansion — probably both the expansion and the bull market are going to be a multi-year event in which tech will continue to play a fairly dominant role,” he said. “During the periods of time where cyclicality takes a hit and it’s going to in periods, I think tech is going to hold up your portfolio.”\nSo, Paulsen, who oversees about $1 billion in assets under management, isn’t bailing on Big Tech.\n“We’re underweighted tech, but not by a lot,” said Paulsen, who is overweight areas such as small caps, value and international stocks. “It’s likely to underperform over the next year as the economy really booms here, but I’m not totally sold that it will.”\nOn “Trading Nation” last September,Paulsen,a long-time market bull, recommended taking advantage of Wall Street pessimism while you still can. And it's no secret that Chinese EV stocks were some of the most popular, as the largest automotive market in the world continues to move toward electrification in its transportation sector.</p>\n<p>EV sales in China surpassed 1 million in 2020, and the government hopes to grow that to 5 million by 2025. It could reach 10 million by 2030, and approach 20 million by 2040, according to research organization BloombergNEF. Two electric automakers looking to capitalize on that expansion are&nbsp;<b>NIO</b>&nbsp;(NYSE:NIO)&nbsp;and&nbsp;<b>XPeng</b>&nbsp;(NYSE:XPEV). Investors may be wondering which is the better buy, particularly after a correction has hit share prices in the sector.</p>\n<p><b>The right market</b></p>\n<p>As noted above, the largest automotive market in the world has much potential forEV growth. The problem is, there will be plenty of companies seeking to capitalize.<b>Tesla</b>&nbsp;(NASDAQ:TSLA)&nbsp;built its second manufacturing plant in Shanghai for a reason. And though they're maybe the most well-known Chinese EV makers, NIO and XPeng combined delivered only slightly more than half the 131,000 battery-electric vehicles that&nbsp;<b>BYD</b>&nbsp;(OTC:BYDDY)&nbsp;sold in 2020.</p>\n<p>NIO reached almost 44,000 vehicles delivered in 2020, while XPeng more than doubled its volume versus 2019 to 27,041. Both companies have recently introduced sedan models that each hopes will be significant drivers of future sales growth.</p>\n<p>XPeng's P7 sports sedan has surpassed a total of 20,000 cumulative deliveries since its launch in early 2020, as it moves ahead of the G3 compact SUV as the company's most popular vehicle. That marked the fastest pace to 20,000 vehicle deliveries of any Chinese EV start-up.</p>\n<p>NIO introduced its new ET7 luxury sedan earlier this year. The ET7 will be available early next year, and has some intricate features. The sleek exterior includes autonomous driving sensors, a \"crystal-like heartbeat\" tail light, all-glass roof, and a digital entry system that extends the flush handle and automatically releases the door's \"e-latch\" as the driver approaches.</p>\n<p><b>Priced for perfection</b></p>\n<p>The strong sales growth along with massive potential for Chinese EVs had investors already piling into these stocks. But after shares of both NIO and XPeng soared last year, the stocks are off January 2021 highs by 27% and 38% respectively, making now a good time to see which may be the better buy.</p>\n<p>Neither company is profitable yet, so one way to measure valuations is using sales rather than earnings. The&nbsp;price-to-sales ratios&nbsp;(P/S) are both very high, but sales are expected to grow quickly, and it's a relevant metric for comparing the two companies.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cf721bd77e4fa0e2530b3d2f86034920\" tg-width=\"720\" tg-height=\"483\"><span>NIO MARKET CAP DATA BY YCHARTS</span></p>\n<p>Though NIO has the higher market cap, it is less expensive than XPeng as measured by the P/S ratio. NIO also has a unique approach to the market with its battery swap program, which allows customers to \"recharge\" via a faster battery exchange. The company says its automated battery swap stations take only three minutes to produce a fully charged battery replacement.</p>\n<p><b>Looking ahead</b></p>\n<p>NIO's push into the luxury sedan segment with its ET7 could help advance the company to the next level. Gross margins, gross profit, and operating cash flow went positive in 2020, indicating the path to profitability is in sight.</p>\n<p>Both companies look to be adequately capitalized to fund planned growth efforts. As of Dec. 31, 2020, NIO had $6.5 billion in cash and cash equivalents, restricted cash, and short-term investment on its balance sheet, and XPeng had about $5.4 billion. The companies could raise more money by&nbsp;listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, which is reportedly being considered by both.</p>\n<p>For investors looking to pick just one holding to participate in Chinese EV growth, NIO appears to be the better option of these two companies. Any investment still belongs in the speculative portion of a portfolio, with the potential for much volatility. And it's no secret that Chinese EV stocks were some of the most popular, as the largest automotive market in the world continues to move toward electrification in its transportation sector.\nEV sales in China surpassed 1 million in 2020, and the government hopes to grow that to 5 million by 2025. It could reach 10 million by 2030, and approach 20 million by 2040, according to research organization BloombergNEF. Two electric automakers looking to capitalize on that expansion are NIO (NYSE:NIO) and XPeng (NYSE:XPEV). Investors may be wondering which is the better buy, particularly after a correction has hit share prices in the sector.\nThe right market\nAs noted above, the largest automotive market in the world has much potential forEV growth. The problem is, there will be plenty of companies seeking to capitalize.Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) built its second manufacturing plant in Shanghai for a reason. And though they're maybe the most well-known Chinese EV makers, NIO and XPeng combined delivered only slightly more than half the 131,000 battery-electric vehicles that BYD (OTC:BYDDY) sold in 2020.\nNIO reached almost 44,000 vehicles delivered in 2020, while XPeng more than doubled its volume versus 2019 to 27,041. Both companies have recently introduced sedan models that each hopes will be significant drivers of future sales growth.\nXPeng's P7 sports sedan has surpassed a total of 20,000 cumulative deliveries since its launch in early 2020, as it moves ahead of the G3 compact SUV as the company's most popular vehicle. That marked the fastest pace to 20,000 vehicle deliveries of any Chinese EV start-up.\nNIO introduced its new ET7 luxury sedan earlier this year. The ET7 will be available early next year, and has some intricate features. The sleek exterior includes autonomous driving sensors, a \"crystal-like heartbeat\" tail light, all-glass roof, and a digital entry system that extends the flush handle and automatically releases the door's \"e-latch\" as the driver approaches.\nPriced for perfection\nThe strong sales growth along with massive potential for Chinese EVs had investors already piling into these stocks. But after shares of both NIO and XPeng soared last year, the stocks are off January 2021 highs by 27% and 38% respectively, making now a good time to see which may be the better buy.\nNeither company is profitable yet, so one way to measure valuations is using sales rather than earnings. The price-to-sales ratios (P/S) are both very high, but sales are expected to grow quickly, and it's a relevant metric for comparing the two companies.\nNIO MARKET CAP DATA BY YCHARTS\nThough NIO has the higher market cap, it is less expensive than XPeng as measured by the P/S ratio. NIO also has a unique approach to the market with its battery swap program, which allows customers to \"recharge\" via a faster battery exchange. But their warnings are still going unheeded on a number of S&amp;P 500 companies.</p><p>Nearly a dozen S&amp;P 500 companies, including industrials <b>American Airlines</b> and <b>Snap-on</b> plus communications services <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/LUMN\">Lumen Technologies</a></b> are still grossly overvalued compared to analysts' 12-month price targets on the stocks, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&amp;P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith.</p><p>By analysts' estimates, all 11 of these S&amp;P 500 stocks are at least 10% overvalued. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.</p><p>Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.</p><p><b>S&amp;P 500 Analysts Are Actually Bullish</b></p><p>Analysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of <b>ViacomCBS</b> and <b>Discovery</b> before they sold off.</p><p>But overall, analysts — like usual — are mostly bullish on S&amp;P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.</p><p>And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.</p><p>That's the highest number of S&amp;P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&amp;P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.</p><p><b>But Analysts See Pockets Of Overvaluation</b></p><p>American Airlines is the S&amp;P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.</p><p>Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.</p><p>As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?</p><p>Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.</p><p>Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.</p><p>It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.</p><p><b>Watch Out For S&amp;P 500 Dividend Darlings</b></p><p>High dividend payers in the S&amp;P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.</p><p>Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&amp;P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.</p><p>Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.</p><p>It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. But their warnings are still going unheeded on a number of S&amp;P 500 companies.</p><p>Nearly a dozen S&amp;P 500 companies, including industrials <b>American Airlines</b> and <b>Snap-on</b> plus communications services <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/LUMN\">Lumen Technologies</a></b> are still grossly overvalued compared to analysts' 12-month price targets on the stocks, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&amp;P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith.</p><p>By analysts' estimates, all 11 of these S&amp;P 500 stocks are at least 10% overvalued. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.</p><p>Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.</p><p><b>S&amp;P 500 Analysts Are Actually Bullish</b></p><p>Analysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of <b>ViacomCBS</b> and <b>Discovery</b> before they sold off.</p><p>But overall, analysts — like usual — are mostly bullish on S&amp;P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.</p><p>And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.</p><p>That's the highest number of S&amp;P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&amp;P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.</p><p><b>But Analysts See Pockets Of Overvaluation</b></p><p>American Airlines is the S&amp;P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.</p><p>Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.</p><p>As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?</p><p>Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.</p><p>Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.</p><p>It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.</p><p><b>Watch Out For S&amp;P 500 Dividend Darlings</b></p><p>High dividend payers in the S&amp;P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&amp;P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.</p><p>Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&amp;P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.</p><p>Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.</p><p>It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. But Paulsen believes it’s more likely the group will endure through higher rates.\n“It might have less to do with yields than it does with just facing a glass ceiling,” he added. “I’mnot totally convinced that we’re breaking down. We might just be hitting the ceiling, bouncing down for a minute and maybe going to take it out yet at some point here in the future.”\nPaulsen contends Big Tech and growth, which he classifies as “New-Era” stocks, will retain their attractiveness to investors.\n“If it does ultimately achieve a new relative-price high, might its leadership persevere and perhaps even strengthen? That is what happened the last two times the Nasdaq spent multiple years as an underperformer,” he wrote.\nDespite his optimism, Paulsen acknowledges it’s reasonable to expect a phase of underperformance, consolidation or even a temporary meltdown.\n“It’s important to realize that we’re just one year into this new economic expansion — probably both the expansion and the bull market are going to be a multi-year event in which tech will continue to play a fairly dominant role,” he said. “During the periods of time where cyclicality takes a hit and it’s going to in periods, I think tech is going to hold up your portfolio.”\nSo, Paulsen, who oversees about $1 billion in assets under management, isn’t bailing on Big Tech.\n“We’re underweighted tech, but not by a lot,” said Paulsen, who is overweight areas such as small caps, value and international stocks. “It’s likely to underperform over the next year as the economy really booms here, but I’m not totally sold that it will.”\nOn “Trading Nation” last September,Paulsen,a long-time market bull, recommended taking advantage of Wall Street pessimism while you still can. Since that appearance, the Nasdaq is up 20%, and he’s maintaining his enthusiasm.\n“It’s still going to be the leader of the future,” Paulsen said.\nThe Nasdaq dropped 0.6% to 13,319.87 on Friday as the benchmark 10-year Treasury Note yield hit 1.64%, its highest level in 13 months.
