2022","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2248806815","media":"StreetInsider","summary":"Goldman Sachsstrategist Christian Mueller-Glissmann shared her H2 outlook for equities after theS&P5","content":"

Goldman Sachsstrategist Christian Mueller-Glissmann shared her H2 outlook for equities after theS&P500 lost over 20% in the first half of the year.

The strategist told clients that Goldman Sachs’ position remains “relatively defensive,” which is reflected in being Underweight credit, Neutral bonds and equities, and Overweight Cash and Commodities.

“Until the growth/inflation mix improves markets are likely to remain volatile as investors shift between inflation frustration and recession obsession. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic wreaked havoc on the U.S. and global economy, and it briefly sent the U.S. stock market into a tailspin.
\n
However, a perfect storm could be brewing for equities under the Biden administration. The Federal Reserve has pledged to hold firm on historically low lending rates, while the White House is calling for trillions of dollars in additional spending. This abundant access to cheap capital is the perfect recipe for stocks to thrive in a rebounding economy.
\n
If a Biden bull market does take shape, the following five unbeatable stocks would be the perfect companies to own.
\n
Alphabet
\n
Few stocks are more synonymous with the word \"unbeatable\" than Alphabet(NASDAQ:GOOGL)(NASDAQ:GOOG), the parent company of internet search engine Google and streaming platform YouTube.
\n
Alphabet operates what might as well be a monopoly in internet search. According to GlobalStats, Google has consistently maintainedglobal search engine market share of 91% to 93%for at least the past two years. Its next-closest competitor,Microsoft's Bing, hardly registered with a 2.29% share of the search engine market in April 2021. Being such a dominant force in search means advertisers will pay up for prime placement. It also suggests that the company's traffic acquisition costs should decline over time. As the U.S. and global economy improve, ad spending should really pick up.
\n
But Alphabetis about more than just internet search. Ad revenue generated from YouTube -- one of the three most-visited social sites on the planet -- jumped 49% in the first quarter to $6 billion. Meanwhile, revenue from cloud infrastructure segment Google Cloud rose 46% to $4 billion. These once small ancillary operations are now on track to contribute $40 billion in sales to Alphabet on an annual run-rate basis.
\n
Despite its $1.6 trillion price tag, Alphabet is still a bargain.
\n
AstraZeneca
\n
For two decades, pharmaceutical stock AstraZeneca(NASDAQ:AZN)was a largely forgettable drug developer that struggled with competition and the patent cliff. Today, it's reinvented itself into a bona fide growth stock with a bright future.
\n
The primary growth driver for AstraZenecais the company's oncology segment. In the first quarter alone, constant currency sales jumped 16% to $3.02 billion. The company's blockbuster trio of Tagrisso, Imfinzi, and Lynparza led the way with respective constant-currency sales growth of 13%, 17%, and 33%. Diabetes blockbuster drug Farxiga also deserves a mention with its 50% constant-currency sales growth in Q1 2021. The company's brand-name treatments are on fire, and it's led to sustainable double-digit topline growth.
\n
Equally exciting is AstraZeneca's pending acquisition ofAlexion Pharmaceuticals(NASDAQ:ALXN). Alexion is a developer of ultra-rare therapeutics. Though it's risky developing treatments for such a small group of patients, success is usually met with no competition and little or no pushback from health insurers on high list prices.
\n
The best part about the Alexion deal is the companydeveloped a replacement for its top-selling drug, Soliris. The next-generation therapy, known as Ultomiris, is administered less frequently, which is a positive for patients. Eventually, Ultomiris will gobble up Soliris' sales and lock-up Alexion's/AstraZeneca's cash flow for a long time to come.
\n
Mastercard
\n
Another unbeatable stock that can deliver superior returns with Biden in the White House is payment facilitatorMastercard(NYSE:MA).
\n
Like mostfinancial stocks, Mastercard is cyclical. This means it struggles when the U.S. and global economy contract or enter a recession and it thrives when the economy is running on all cylinders. That's because it relies on merchant fees via payments to drive its top and bottom line. But the thing to understand about cyclical companies like Mastercard is that time is on their side. Whereas recessions often last for a few quarters, periods of expansion usually last many years. Considering how much money the Biden administration is attempting to pump into the U.S. economy, Mastercard should have a field day.
\n
Something else to consider is that Mastercardhas chosen not to be a lender. Although some of its peers do act as both processors and lenders (via credit cards), and are therefore able to double-dip during economic expansions, Mastercard's avoidance of lending is actually a smart move. When recessions inevitably strike and credit delinquencies rise, Mastercard doesn't have set aside cash. This is why it rebounds much quicker than its peers during the early stages of a recovery.
\n
The math here is simple: As the economy picks up steam, consumers and businesses are going to spend, spend, and spend some more. That's music to the ears of all Mastercard shareholders.
\n
Annaly Capital Management
\n
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you dividend income-seekers out there. If a Biden bull market takes shape, mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT)Annaly Capital Management(NYSE:NLY)could be a smart place to put your money to work.
\n
Without getting overly technical, mortgage REITs like Annaly borrow money at short-term lending rates and use it to purchase securities with higher long-term yields. In Annaly's case, we're primarily talking about mortgage-backed securities (MBS). The difference between the long-term yield received and the short-term borrowing rate is known as net interest margin (NIM). The wider the NIM, the more profitable Annaly is, and the bigger the dividend payout it can provide to shareholders. Right now, Annaly Capital isyielding a jaw-dropping 9.7%.
\n
What makes Annaly such a perfect stock to buy is thatwe're witnessing the yield curve steepen. When the U.S. economy is rebounding from a recession, it's normal for long-term yields to rise and for short-term yields to fall or flatten out. When this happens, Annaly usually experiences a widening of its NIM.
\n
Additionally, Annaly almost exclusively buys agency securities. This is a fancy way of saying that the MBSs it's purchasing are backed by the federal government in the event of a default. This protection is what allows the company to utilize leverage to its advantage, thereby pumping up its profits.
\n
Trupanion
\n
Lastly, companion animal health insurance company Trupanion(NASDAQ:TRUP)has all the look of an unbeatable stock to buy in a Biden bull market.
\n
The pet industry may not offer flashy growth prospects like cybersecurity or cannabis, but it's arguably themost consistent growth opportunity. It's been more than a quarter of a century since year-over-year U.S. pet expenditures declined. Further, the American Pet Products Association notes that the percentage of American household owning a pet has increased from 56% in 1988 to 67% by 2019-2020. If we've learned anything about pet owners, it's that they're willing to spend big bucks to ensure the well-being of their four-legged family members.
\n
Trupanion, which recently lifted the hood on its first-quarter operating results, isclosing in on 1 million total enrolled pets(943,854 at the end of Q1 2021). The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic wreaked havoc on the U.S. and global economy, and it briefly sent the U.S. stock market into a tailspin.\nHowever, a perfect storm could be brewing for equities under the Biden administration. The Federal Reserve has pledged to hold firm on historically low lending rates, while the White House is calling for trillions of dollars in additional spending. This abundant access to cheap capital is the perfect recipe for stocks to thrive in a rebounding economy.\nIf a Biden bull market does take shape, the following five unbeatable stocks would be the perfect companies to own.\nAlphabet\nFew stocks are more synonymous with the word \"unbeatable\" than Alphabet(NASDAQ:GOOGL)(NASDAQ:GOOG), the parent company of internet search engine Google and streaming platform YouTube.\nAlphabet operates what might as well be a monopoly in internet search. As the U.S. and global economy improve, ad spending should really pick up.\nBut Alphabetis about more than just internet search. Ad revenue generated from YouTube -- one of the three most-visited social sites on the planet -- jumped 49% in the first quarter to $6 billion. Meanwhile, revenue from cloud infrastructure segment Google Cloud rose 46% to $4 billion. These once small ancillary operations are now on track to contribute $40 billion in sales to Alphabet on an annual run-rate basis.\nDespite its $1.6 trillion price tag, Alphabet is still a bargain.\nAstraZeneca\nFor two decades, pharmaceutical stock AstraZeneca(NASDAQ:AZN)was a largely forgettable drug developer that struggled with competition and the patent cliff. Today, it's reinvented itself into a bona fide growth stock with a bright future.\nThe primary growth driver for AstraZenecais the company's oncology segment. The company's brand-name treatments are on fire, and it's led to sustainable double-digit topline growth.\nEqually exciting is AstraZeneca's pending acquisition ofAlexion Pharmaceuticals(NASDAQ:ALXN). Alexion is a developer of ultra-rare therapeutics. Though it's risky developing treatments for such a small group of patients, success is usually met with no competition and little or no pushback from health insurers on high list prices.\nThe best part about the Alexion deal is the companydeveloped a replacement for its top-selling drug, Soliris. The next-generation therapy, known as Ultomiris, is administered less frequently, which is a positive for patients. Eventually, Ultomiris will gobble up Soliris' sales and lock-up Alexion's/AstraZeneca's cash flow for a long time to come.\nMastercard\nAnother unbeatable stock that can deliver superior returns with Biden in the White House is payment facilitatorMastercard(NYSE:MA).\nLike mostfinancial stocks, Mastercard is cyclical. Considering how much money the Biden administration is attempting to pump into the U.S. economy, Mastercard should have a field day.\nSomething else to consider is that Mastercardhas chosen not to be a lender. This is why it rebounds much quicker than its peers during the early stages of a recovery.\nThe math here is simple: As the economy picks up steam, consumers and businesses are going to spend, spend, and spend some more. That's music to the ears of all Mastercard shareholders.\nAnnaly Capital Management\nDon't worry, I haven't forgotten about you dividend income-seekers out there. If a Biden bull market takes shape, mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT)Annaly Capital Management(NYSE:NLY)could be a smart place to put your money to work.\nWithout getting overly technical, mortgage REITs like Annaly borrow money at short-term lending rates and use it to purchase securities with higher long-term yields. Right now, Annaly Capital isyielding a jaw-dropping 9.7%.\nWhat makes Annaly such a perfect stock to buy is thatwe're witnessing the yield curve steepen. When the U.S. economy is rebounding from a recession, it's normal for long-term yields to rise and for short-term yields to fall or flatten out. When this happens, Annaly usually experiences a widening of its NIM.\nAdditionally, Annaly almost exclusively buys agency securities. This is a fancy way of saying that the MBSs it's purchasing are backed by the federal government in the event of a default. This protection is what allows the company to utilize leverage to its advantage, thereby pumping up its profits.\nTrupanion\nLastly, companion animal health insurance company Trupanion(NASDAQ:TRUP)has all the look of an unbeatable stock to buy in a Biden bull market.\nThe pet industry may not offer flashy growth prospects like cybersecurity or cannabis, but it's arguably themost consistent growth opportunity. It's been more than a quarter of a century since year-over-year U.S. pet expenditures declined. Further, the American Pet Products Association notes that the percentage of American household owning a pet has increased from 56% in 1988 to 67% by 2019-2020. If we've learned anything about pet owners, it's that they're willing to spend big bucks to ensure the well-being of their four-legged family members.\nTrupanion, which recently lifted the hood on its first-quarter operating results, isclosing in on 1 million total enrolled pets(943,854 at the end of Q1 2021). Amazingly, this only represents a little over 1% penetration of the U.S. market. In the U.K., about 1 in 4 pet owners purchases insurance for their cat or dog. If Trupanion can achieve a similar penetration rate, its addressable market would be more than $32 billion.\nThis is a company that's spent two decades building up rapport with veterinarians and their staff at the clinical level. It's also the only major companion animal health insurance provider with software capable of handling payment to veterinarians at the time of checkout.\nThe sky is the limit for Trupanion.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":196,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3570479349727470","authorId":"3570479349727470","name":"ALIBINHASSAN","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a7c31b79e7bff28841c5f18dca737f4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"content":"Cool. However, at Friday's prices, the stock was down more than 40% from its June highs.
\n
Many traders held a \"buy first, ask questions later\" mentality when opening up a stake. But now, the time for questions has come. Can AMC deliversustained growthover the long term?
\n
Upcoming catalysts
\n
The COVID-19 pandemic has created a massive backlog of unreleased films. Production delays have played a role, but studio executives have also postponed releases until theaters reopened to maximize revenue. Over the next year, a number of big franchises will have new installments, includingJurassic Park,Batman,Transformers,John Wick,Avatar,Indiana Jones,MissionImpossible, and Marvel. Keep in mind that AMC is the largest theater chain in the country, with over 60% market share. So there's no doubt there would be an impressive boost to the company's bottom line when these movies hit the theaters (keep in mind that AMC's business wasn't consistently profitable before COVID, so even a blockbuster year may not be a sure thing).
\n
In addition, AMC may have been saved simply by the efforts of Reddit traders to boost the stock. Thanks to a high stock price, AMC raised $1.246 billion in cash via equity offerings in the second quarter alone. That increased its total liquidity to over $2 billion, against $5.5 billion of long-term debt.
\n
If AMC used the cash to pay back debt, then the return on investment would be immediate (we'll have to wait until second-quarter earnings on Aug. 5 to learn more). The average interest rate of AMC's debt exceeds 10%, and interest payments outweighed total revenue in the first quarter. Moreover, Adam Aron, the company's CEO, announced on July 6 that he would scrap a plan to issue 25 million additional shares. Aron does not anticipate any other stock offerings in 2021, which suggests the company believes its turnaround is on track. The company is acting as if it believes it has enough cash to execute its plans for now.
\n
Upcoming inhibitors
\n
A major risk ahead for AMC is the spread of the delta and lambda coronavirus variants in the country. Moviegoers may be inclined to stay at home and watch new releases on streaming services instead, especially when it comes to new releases available to both channels. As a result, don't expect the company's traffic to rebound to pre-pandemic levels anytime soon.
\n
In addition, it's not clear yet how the company could sustain its growth or earnings in the long term. After the movie backlog clears up, AMC would be competing with multiple movie-streaming services and home-entertainment enthusiasts for traffic. But it can't spare much cash for the sake of innovation; the company still needs to generate cash flow to pay off its ballooning debt stack. On top of that, it still owes $400 million in rent to theater landlords due to the lockdowns in the past year.
\n
The missing element
\n
The problem of achieving innovation is a big one in the long run, and AMC is stuck in a catch-22. There isn't anything stopping AMC from launching a paid subscription streaming service for new movies. However, that will inevitably cannibalize revenue from its theaters, leading to a net-zero outcome.
\n
Offering a subscription pass to its theaters wouldn't really work either. MoviePass had already attempted that. To match the value proposition of streaming services, the company had to price its pass at $10 per month, resulting in staggering losses before it went bankrupt.
\n
But the biggest killer of AMC's prospects going forward is probably a combination of 5G and synchronized viewing. For example, the social community platform Discord allows its users to stream movies via its screen-share feature. While the movie plays, users are free to talk with each other, eat their own food, and otherwise enjoy the experience in ways that might be taboo in an actual theatre.
\n
With the rise of 5G, folks can watch movies via screen sharing just about anywhere. Bored while swimming in the lake? Just boot up your phone and watch a movie stream with friends. The best part is that the activity is free; intellectual property laws haven't caught on to the innovation yet, resulting in a grey area. At the end of the day, it would be extremely difficult for AMC to compete with these \"mini-virtual theaters\" where patrons can watch from anywhere and do whatever they like while watching.
\n
The verdict
\n
Since its inception, AMC has lost a cumulative $5.9 billion, and that number is growing. Investors should note that aside from another near-term spike/short squeeze, there are not many fundamentals backing the company's long-term prospects. In addition, its inability to devote cash to innovation will almost guarantee more revenue and bottom-line woes in the long run. That's on top of its inability to compete with peer-to-peer synchronized movie-viewing experiences. At a forward-looking price-to-sales (P/S) ratio over 8, AMC stock looks incredibly expensive for a company that could yet fall off another cliff in terms of growth. Long-term investors looking forways to profit from the reopening economyshould stay away.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
AMC fell nearly 9% in morning trading
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nAMC fell nearly 9% in morning trading\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-19 21:49 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
(July 19) AMC fell nearly 9% in morning trading. That increased its total liquidity to over $2 billion, against $5.5 billion of long-term debt.\nIf AMC used the cash to pay back debt, then the return on investment would be immediate (we'll have to wait until second-quarter earnings on Aug. The company is acting as if it believes it has enough cash to execute its plans for now.\nUpcoming inhibitors\nA major risk ahead for AMC is the spread of the delta and lambda coronavirus variants in the country. Moviegoers may be inclined to stay at home and watch new releases on streaming services instead, especially when it comes to new releases available to both channels. As a result, don't expect the company's traffic to rebound to pre-pandemic levels anytime soon.\nIn addition, it's not clear yet how the company could sustain its growth or earnings in the long term. After the movie backlog clears up, AMC would be competing with multiple movie-streaming services and home-entertainment enthusiasts for traffic. But it can't spare much cash for the sake of innovation; the company still needs to generate cash flow to pay off its ballooning debt stack. On top of that, it still owes $400 million in rent to theater landlords due to the lockdowns in the past year.\nThe missing element\nThe problem of achieving innovation is a big one in the long run, and AMC is stuck in a catch-22. There isn't anything stopping AMC from launching a paid subscription streaming service for new movies. However, that will inevitably cannibalize revenue from its theaters, leading to a net-zero outcome.\nOffering a subscription pass to its theaters wouldn't really work either. MoviePass had already attempted that. To match the value proposition of streaming services, the company had to price its pass at $10 per month, resulting in staggering losses before it went bankrupt.\nBut the biggest killer of AMC's prospects going forward is probably a combination of 5G and synchronized viewing. For example, the social community platform Discord allows its users to stream movies via its screen-share feature. While the movie plays, users are free to talk with each other, eat their own food, and otherwise enjoy the experience in ways that might be taboo in an actual theatre.\nWith the rise of 5G, folks can watch movies via screen sharing just about anywhere. Bored while swimming in the lake? Just boot up your phone and watch a movie stream with friends. The best part is that the activity is free; intellectual property laws haven't caught on to the innovation yet, resulting in a grey area. At the end of the day, it would be extremely difficult for AMC to compete with these \"mini-virtual theaters\" where patrons can watch from anywhere and do whatever they like while watching.\nThe verdict\nSince its inception, AMC has lost a cumulative $5.9 billion, and that number is growing. Long-term investors looking forways to profit from the reopening economyshould stay away.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":191,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":199427773,"gmtCreate":1620728772192,"gmtModify":1704347423089,"author":{"id":"3579331938591706","authorId":"3579331938591706","name":"JOHY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/01faff4217bc5e19fd6b5d62c156f678","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hmm","listText":"Hmm","text":"Hmm","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":7,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/199427773","repostId":"1135213817","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1135213817","pubTimestamp":1620727027,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1135213817?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-11 17:57","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla, Palantir, ARK and Apple, Wynn - 5 Things You Must Know Tuesday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1135213817","media":"The Street","summary":"Stock futures point lower, extending a drop fueled by a sharp selloff in tech shares; Palantir repor","content":"
\n Stock futures point lower, extending a drop fueled by a sharp selloff in tech shares; Palantir reports earnings; Tesla slumps on a report it has halted a land purchase in Shanghai; ARK slashes its Apple holdings.\n
\n
1. -- Stock Futures Point to Further Losses for Wall Street
\n
Stock futures pointed lower Tuesday, extending a drop fueled by a sharp selloff in technology shares.
\n
Contracts linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 118 points, S&P 500 futures fell 26 points and Nasdaq futures slumped 161 points.
\n
Stocks finished lower Monday and the tech-heavy Nasdaq tumbled 2.55%on renewed anxiety over the prospects of higher inflation. More importantly, their futures look bright.","content":"
Key Points
\n
\n
Growth stocks may be riskier than stable and established companies, but carefully selected ones may be worth it.
\n
Stay-at-home trends have helped these companies, but their growth rates were high before the pandemic, too.
\n
Both of these fast-growing tech businesses are already profitable.
\n
\n
There's an interesting dilemma when it comes to picking stocks investors can likely hold for years or even decades. On the one hand, investors looking to hold shares for the long haul can stick with stable and established companies that have been around for decades and will likely continue succeeding for the foreseeable future -- companies like Waste Management and Berkshire Hathaway. The downside to this approach, however, is that investors may miss out on the potential outperformance that could come from fast-growing companies over the long haul.
\n
The issue with buying growth stocks, however, is that it's extremely difficult to gauge how long their rapid top-line growth rates can persist. Further, these companies' stock prices could perform very poorly if the growth prospects already baked into the stock price don't pan out. In other words, there's arguably more risk when it comes to betting on growth stocks for the next decade than there is for stable and established companies with decades of success behind them.
\n
So if an investor wants to buy growth stocks with a high chance of exceeding expectations over the next 10 years, they better have some pretty good reasons to believe these companies can do exactly that.
\n
\n
Here are two growth stocks that have a shot at not only living up to high expectations over the next 10 years but possibly even exceeding them:Zoom Video Communications(NASDAQ:ZM) and Peloton Interactive(NASDAQ:PTON).
\n
Zoom and Peloton were already thriving before the pandemic
\n
At first glance, investors may conclude that Zoom is nothing more than a pandemic stock. They may argue that the company's success was predicated almost entirely on the fact that much of the world was in lockdown in 2020 and going into 2021.
\n
It's true that Zoom benefited significantly from the rise of virtual work in 2020. After all, revenue for the company's fiscal 2021 (a fiscal year ending Jan. 31, 2021) skyrocketed 326% year over year. But investors should note that the trend of using video to collaborate virtually was already extremely strong before the pandemic; fiscal 2020 revenue rose 88% year over year. Growth at the time was particularly strong from large customers. Zoom's customers contributing more than $100,000 of trailing-12-month revenue increased 86% year over year in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020.
\n
The same goes for Peloton. On the one hand, investors looking to hold shares for the long haul can stick with stable and established companies that have been around for decades and will likely continue succeeding for the foreseeable future -- companies like Waste Management and Berkshire Hathaway. The downside to this approach, however, is that investors may miss out on the potential outperformance that could come from fast-growing companies over the long haul.\nThe issue with buying growth stocks, however, is that it's extremely difficult to gauge how long their rapid top-line growth rates can persist. Further, these companies' stock prices could perform very poorly if the growth prospects already baked into the stock price don't pan out. In other words, there's arguably more risk when it comes to betting on growth stocks for the next decade than there is for stable and established companies with decades of success behind them.\nSo if an investor wants to buy growth stocks with a high chance of exceeding expectations over the next 10 years, they better have some pretty good reasons to believe these companies can do exactly that.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\nHere are two growth stocks that have a shot at not only living up to high expectations over the next 10 years but possibly even exceeding them:Zoom Video Communications(NASDAQ:ZM) and Peloton Interactive(NASDAQ:PTON).\nZoom and Peloton were already thriving before the pandemic\nAt first glance, investors may conclude that Zoom is nothing more than a pandemic stock. They may argue that the company's success was predicated almost entirely on the fact that much of the world was in lockdown in 2020 and going into 2021.\nIt's true that Zoom benefited significantly from the rise of virtual work in 2020. Zoom's customers contributing more than $100,000 of trailing-12-month revenue increased 86% year over year in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020.\nThe same goes for Peloton. The company certainly benefited from the pandemic, but revenue during the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2019 was growing at a year-over-year rate of 77%, with connected fitness subscribers increasing 96% year over year.\nContinued momentum\nThe underlying catalysts driving Zoom and Peloton are both still alive and well. Strong growth persists at both companies.\nDespite facing extremely tough comparisons in the year-ago quarter, from when both companies were benefiting from soaring demand amid lockdowns, Zoom's and Peloton's revenue in their most recently reported quarters grew 191% and 141% year over year, respectively.\nLooking ahead, Zoom notably guided for fiscal 2022 revenue of nearly $4 billion, up from fiscal 2021 revenue of about $2.7 billion.\nBoding well for Peloton's continued momentum, management said in its most recent quarterly update that its monthly average workouts per connected fitness subscription rose to an all-time high, showing how the company's products are still yielding high engagement even as the economy reopens.\nHealthy profits\nFinally, another factor that makes these companies unique from many other growth stocks is that they are already very profitable. Zoom generated $873 million of net income on $3.3 billion of trailing-12-month sales, and Peloton served up $213 million of net income from $3.7 billion in revenue.\nSubstantial profits give these companies an edge when it comes to reinvesting in growth opportunities ahead of them and spending on efforts to enhance their competitive positioning and first-mover advantages in their respective industries.\nWhile there's no guarantee these two stocks will beat the market over the next 10 years, their recent momentum -- before, during, and after the worst part of the pandemic -- suggests they likely have a promising future.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":94,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":891137206,"gmtCreate":1628347229105,"gmtModify":1703505298179,"author":{"id":"3579331938591706","authorId":"3579331938591706","name":"JOHY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/01faff4217bc5e19fd6b5d62c156f678","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gg","listText":"Gg","text":"Gg","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/891137206","repostId":"1122174975","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1122174975","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1628257533,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1122174975?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-06 21:45","market":"us","language":"en","title":"EV stocks fell in morning trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1122174975","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(Aug 6) $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ fell 0.41%; Battery technology is the main reason.\nCanaccord analy","content":"
A Tesla bull is a little less bullish Monday. Battery technology is the main reason.
\n
Canaccord analyst Jonathan Dorsheimer threw his Tesla (ticker: TSLA) target price into reverse Monday, cutting it to $812, down $162, or 17% from $974. He maintained his Buy rating though.
\n
The cut isn’t having much impact on shares in Monday trading. Tesla stock is up about 1.3% to $618 a share.
\n
Even though he is still bullish on the company, Dorsheimer is wary about Tesla’s new batteries. In particular the larger 4680 cell design which promises better charge time, longer per-charge range and lower cost.
\n
The 4680 refers to a cylindrical battery with a diameter of 46 millimeters and a length of 80 millimeters. Today’s Tesla’s have 2170 batteries. That’s 21 millimeter diameter and 70 millimeter length.
\n
Tesla recently started delivering its Model S Plaid vehicle, billed as the fastest production car ever built. It can go zero to 60 miles per hour in under 2 seconds. But it also canceled the Plaid+ which was going to have longer per-charge range partly because of the new battery design.
\n
Dorsheimer wrote that the Plaid+ “was reportedly going to be the first to feature the new 4680 cell design.” The cancellation “signals to us the new cell format isn’t ready for production just yet, and cell production capacity constraints for energy storage products like Powerwall remain.”
\n
If the batteries aren’t ready yet, that’s a problem. Better batteries are a competitive advantage for electric-vehicle makers. Lower costs also allow Tesla to either charge less or make more money per car. Lower prices can expand the pool of Tesla buyers. Better profits, of course, are cheered by investors. And any battery-supply constraints could impact Tesla vehicle deliveries down the road. Wall Street expects Tesla to deliver 800,000 to 900,000 cars in 2021, up from about 500,000 cars in 2020.
\n
Dorsheimer’s target-price cut lowered the analyst average for Tesla stock to $618 a share from $623.
\n

\n
Drops aren’t the norm recently. Tesla stock’s average analyst target price is up more than 830% from the start of 2018. The average analyst target price, however, has stopped rising since early February.
\n
That’s also when bond yields started rising because of inflation fears. Higher bond yields hurt richly valued technology companies more than others for two reasons. Higher yields make it more costly to finance growth. It also reduces the present value of future cash flow. And growth companies generate most of their cash flow far in the future.
\n
Investors are looking for a catalyst to snap Tesla stock out of its recent range. First quarter earnings didn’t do it. Neither has the launch of the Plaid. Battery technology is the main reason.\nCanaccord analyst Jonathan Dorsheimer threw his Tesla (ticker: TSLA) target price into reverse Monday, cutting it to $812, down $162, or 17% from $974. He maintained his Buy rating though.\nThe cut isn’t having much impact on shares in Monday trading. Tesla stock is up about 1.3% to $618 a share. \nEven though he is still bullish on the company, Dorsheimer is wary about Tesla’s new batteries. In particular the larger 4680 cell design which promises better charge time, longer per-charge range and lower cost.\nThe 4680 refers to a cylindrical battery with a diameter of 46 millimeters and a length of 80 millimeters. Today’s Tesla’s have 2170 batteries. That’s 21 millimeter diameter and 70 millimeter length.\nTesla recently started delivering its Model S Plaid vehicle, billed as the fastest production car ever built. It can go zero to 60 miles per hour in under 2 seconds. But it also canceled the Plaid+ which was going to have longer per-charge range partly because of the new battery design.\nDorsheimer wrote that the Plaid+ “was reportedly going to be the first to feature the new 4680 cell design.” The cancellation “signals to us the new cell format isn’t ready for production just yet, and cell production capacity constraints for energy storage products like Powerwall remain.”\nIf the batteries aren’t ready yet, that’s a problem. Wall Street expects Tesla to deliver 800,000 to 900,000 cars in 2021, up from about 500,000 cars in 2020.\nDorsheimer’s target-price cut lowered the analyst average for Tesla stock to $618 a share from $623.\n\nDrops aren’t the norm recently. Tesla stock’s average analyst target price is up more than 830% from the start of 2018. The average analyst target price, however, has stopped rising since early February.\nThat’s also when bond yields started rising because of inflation fears. Higher bond yields hurt richly valued technology companies more than others for two reasons. Higher yields make it more costly to finance growth. It also reduces the present value of future cash flow. And growth companies generate most of their cash flow far in the future.\nInvestors are looking for a catalyst to snap Tesla stock out of its recent range. First quarter earnings didn’t do it. Neither has the launch of the Plaid. Production from new facilities in Texas and Germany, due to start around year end 2021, as well as the new batteries, could be what investors need.\nOf course, they also need EV demand to stay strong and for interest rates to stay in a low, stable range.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":61,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":139996051,"gmtCreate":1621581890673,"gmtModify":1704360024038,"author":{"id":"3579331938591706","authorId":"3579331938591706","name":"JOHY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/01faff4217bc5e19fd6b5d62c156f678","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/139996051","repostId":"1146570916","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1146570916","pubTimestamp":1621579990,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1146570916?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-21 14:53","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Buy Apple Stock Because Strong iPhone Demand Is Good News for All Its Products","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1146570916","media":"Barrons","summary":"Apple is now more than six months into the iPhone 12 era, and demand for the company’s first 5G hand","content":"
Apple is now more than six months into the iPhone 12 era, and demand for the company’s first 5G handset lineup remains remarkably strong.
\n
In a research note Thursday, UBS analyst David Vogt notes that a survey of more than 7,000 smartphone users in the U.S., U.K., China, Germany and Japan found that 22% intend to buy iPhones within the next 12 months, the highest reading in five years.
\n
In addition, iPhone retention rates—the number of people who intend to stay on the platform when they switch phones—reached 86%, the best reading in seven years. That is a milestone investors who are bullish on Tesla stock have been waiting for, but it isn’t the most important one.
\n
Beginning deliveries should help the stock—-a little.
\n
Tesla(ticker: TSLA) stock rose 4.1% amid a broad market rally Thursday, but the gain still left shares down for the week. Tesla stock was up another 0.8% in Friday trading, a touch better than the 0.7% gain in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The S&P 500 was up 0.5%.
\n

\n
The Plaid is billed by Tesla as the fastest production car ever, going zero to 60 in under 2 seconds. A Bugatti Chiron, which costs about $2.3 million and is equipped with a 16-cylinder, four-turbocharger engine, can go zero to 60 in about 2.3 seconds.
\n
Electric motors have better torque at zero revolutions a minute, giving drivers an incredible jolt from their initial acceleration.
\n
The Plaid edition of the Model S won’t cost anywhere near as much as a Chiron, but it will still run buyers $120,000 or more. Prices like that mean the car won’t sell in the high volumes seen from the Tesla Model 3 or Model Y. Those cars can be had for what a nicely equipped sedan from BMW (BMW.Germany) or evenToyota Motor (TM) or Honda (HMC) can cost.
\n
Still, the launch highlights Tesla’s ability to update its designs. The first Model S went into production almost a decade ago. Its performance shows Tesla is improving on its technologies for battery management and electric motors.
\n
All that is important for perceptions about Tesla, but there are bigger things on investors’ minds. Tesla is building new capacity in Austin, Texas, andBerlin. Investors want to see both plants on line by the end of the year, giving Tesla the output capacity needed to increase sales.
\n
Investors also want updates about the company’s autonomous driving programs. That is a milestone investors who are bullish on Tesla stock have been waiting for, but it isn’t the most important one.\nBeginning deliveries should help the stock—-a little.\nTesla(ticker: TSLA) stock rose 4.1% amid a broad market rally Thursday, but the gain still left shares down for the week. Tesla stock was up another 0.8% in Friday trading, a touch better than the 0.7% gain in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The S&P 500 was up 0.5%.\n\nThe Plaid is billed by Tesla as the fastest production car ever, going zero to 60 in under 2 seconds. A Bugatti Chiron, which costs about $2.3 million and is equipped with a 16-cylinder, four-turbocharger engine, can go zero to 60 in about 2.3 seconds.\nElectric motors have better torque at zero revolutions a minute, giving drivers an incredible jolt from their initial acceleration.\nThe Plaid edition of the Model S won’t cost anywhere near as much as a Chiron, but it will still run buyers $120,000 or more. Prices like that mean the car won’t sell in the high volumes seen from the Tesla Model 3 or Model Y. Those cars can be had for what a nicely equipped sedan from BMW (BMW.Germany) or evenToyota Motor (TM) or Honda (HMC) can cost.\nStill, the launch highlights Tesla’s ability to update its designs. The first Model S went into production almost a decade ago. Its performance shows Tesla is improving on its technologies for battery management and electric motors.\nAll that is important for perceptions about Tesla, but there are bigger things on investors’ minds. Tesla is building new capacity in Austin, Texas, andBerlin. Investors want to see both plants on line by the end of the year, giving Tesla the output capacity needed to increase sales.\nInvestors also want updates about the company’s autonomous driving programs. Musk has boasted the company is close to achieving fully autonomous cars with newer versions of its self-driving software. The new versions probably won’t mean drivers can actually leave the driver seat, but better driver-assistance functions are a competitive advantage for auto makers.\nThe next version of the Tesla software is due to roll out in coming weeks.\nCapacity and autonomous driving have the potential to lift the stock in coming years. The Model S Plaid can help it in coming quarters.\nTesla stock is in need of a lift. In January 2016, during aninterviewwith CNBC, she was asked which stock seemed like a better buy at the time: AAPL or AMZN.
\n
Considering Apple stock’s loss of 5% in 2015, her response was the following:
\n
\n “At this moment, […] Apple might be, because […] the thinking there is so short term. […] Apple is going to become a big company, and [the stock] has been depressed recently by channel checks: how iPhone sales will do in the first quarter, or in the second quarter.”\n
\n
Since this interview, Apple share price climbed a whopping 400%-plus in just over five years.
\n
#1. Buying quality on weakness
\n
The first important lesson from Ms. Wood’s 2016 insight above is that high-quality companies, whose stocks are likely to climb over time, should be bought on weakness. The logic is simple: if the long-term trend is up, buy shares when the market is selling them at a discount.
\n
I put some numbers around this ideaa couple of months ago. Historically, it has made much more sense to buy AAPL when shares declined from a previous peak.
\n
The chart below shows the historical average one-year return in Apple stock under different scenarios. Notice that, the more shares dip, the higher the future returns have been.
\n
Following the same logic, current Apple investors might be encouraged that the stock remains under water: 12% below the January 2021 top of $143. Should AAPL make fresh all-time highs soon, asI recently speculated that it could, returns for the remainder of the year may start to look appealing.
\n
#2. Filtering out short-term noise
\n
The second point made by Cathie Wood is at least as important. In her view, Apple stock was under pressure in 2015 and early 2016 due to short-term concerns over smartphone sales in the following couple of quarters, especially after the blockbuster release of the iPhone 6.
\n
In analyzing market movements, I believe it helps to think about the real drivers of share price: buyers and sellers of the stock. Sometimes, people on both sides of the transaction are more concerned about how a stock might perform in the near term, possibly hoping to make a quick buck – and this is just fine.
\n
In these cases, long-term buyers are probably better off ignoring “short term noise” about what sales or earnings might look like right around the corner. Better yet, they might want to take advantage of selling pressures created by short-term traders to enter a position at better prices.
\n
Apple might be faced with a similar setup in 2021. The chatter on Wall Street seems torevolve around the company’s follow throughto a successful pandemic year and launch of the first 5G-capable iPhone.
\n
But look beyond the next 12 months, and one might find it easier to make a bullish case on Apple stock. The company continues to grow revenues, expand margins, pile on cash, while it has yet to tap intoopportunities in mixed realityandautonomous vehicles.
\n
Twitter speaks
\n
Big Tech stocks like Amazon and Apple are a tiny piece of famed investor Cathie Wood’s ARK portfolios.
