Now, the rest of the industry is praying for its success.\nBuzzFeed announced its intentions on Thursday to become a publicly traded companyby merging with special purpose acquisition company 890 Fifth Avenue Partners. Along with its acquisition of Complex Networks, BuzzFeed will begin trading with an implied valuation of $1.5 billion.\nBuzzFeed will be the industry's guinea pig — the first of its kind to test public investor appetite. Vice, Vox Media, Group Nine, Bustle and other digital media companieshave all discussed going public via SPACwith varying timelines. BuzzFeed's total unique visitors and time spent among millennials and Generation Z dwarf its competition,according to the investor presentation Buzzfeed released Thursday, making it a logical candidate to be first out of the gate.\nThe company's decision to go public will test whether investors believe companies like BuzzFeed are primed to grow in a post-pandemic world, where advertisersare spending more money on digital properties and less on traditional linear television. Still, BuzzFeed will need to convince potential shareholders it can capture those digital dollars rather than watching them flow intoGoogle,FacebookandAmazon.\nWhile BuzzFeed said in its investor deck that \"ad spend is shifting from mega platforms,\" co-founder and CEO Jonah Peretti contended in a CNBC interview that the company will benefit from the growth of the largest digital platforms because they pay for BuzzFeed's content.\n\"We've seen our revenue grow right along with the FAANG companies,\" Perettisaid on CNBC's \"TechCheck,\" referring to Facebook,Apple,Amazon,Netflixand Google. \"YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok are all hungry for content. They increasingly want brand-safe content they know they can put advertising against with certainty. We get paid by these big platforms for producing content and share revenue with them.\"\nBuzzFeed said it generated $166 million selling its own content and $196 million on advertising in 2020, along with a fledgling commerce business.\nUnprecedented comparisons\nBuzzFeed listed a set of comparable companies in its investor presentation — and the range of businesses unintentionally underlined the haziness of BuzzFeed's prognosis.\nBuzzFeed listedEtsy, Taboola,Zynga,IACandThe New York Timesas its five comparable peers — an e-commerce platform, a native advertising platform, a gaming company, an internet holding company and a legacy media journalism company, respectively. Those companies aren't just dissimilar — they're all quite different from BuzzFeed itself.\nBuzzfeed's $1.5 billion valuation is also a cause for concern. The companywas valued at $1.7 billion in 2016.\n\"There was definitely a hype period for digital media when a lot of companies were growing really quickly but didn't have strong, sustainable businesses,\" Peretti said, implying Buzzfeed may not have deserved that rich of a valuation in 2016. \"We've spent the past year managing our costs, building a really strong, sustainable, diversified business.\"\nTrading publicly will put Peretti's thesis to the test. It's possible Buzzfeed's lack of growth has been more about a volatile advertising-based industry dominated by Facebook and Google — one that may not subside in the years to come.\nBuzzFeed's share performance will likely determine if its smaller peers, such as Vox and Bustle, can succeed as public companies of their own. It will also give BuzzFeed currency to acquire other, smaller sites that can bolster BuzzFeed's commerce and advertising businesses.\nPeretti said growing through takeovers is part of his plan to boost his company's valuation.\n\"I think there's a lot of excitement to join up with us,\" Peretti said. \"We are well capitalized, and we have scale. If you're someone who is running a subscale digital media company, and you know you have to build all these things, you can skip a bunch of steps by joining up with the leading digital media company in the space, BuzzFeed.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":267,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":126484002,"gmtCreate":1624581840906,"gmtModify":1703840819248,"author":{"id":"3580736330091009","authorId":"3580736330091009","name":"LuyiLuyi117","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7f354be323f5fc4b410011368a32fece","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580736330091009","authorIdStr":"3580736330091009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/126484002","repostId":"1193737129","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1193737129","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624581188,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1193737129?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-25 08:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Microsoft closes above $2 trillion market cap for the first time","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1193737129","media":"CNBC","summary":"Microsoftis now worth more than $2 trillion.\nThe software maker first hit that level just after 3 p.","content":"
\n
Microsoftis now worth more than $2 trillion.\nThe software maker first hit that level just after 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 22, but dipped below that mark again before ending Thursday's trading session...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The milestone follows the company's unveiling ofWindows 11, its first new version of the flagship operating system in more than five years, on Thursday morning.\nMicrosoft's value has doubled in two years' time, bolstered by demand for products such as the Teams chat app that kept organizations functioning during the coronavirus pandemic.\nThe appreciation of the company's stock price reflects a rejuvenated company, one that has looked beyond its dominant Windows operating system and found growth in cloud computing and acquisitions.\nMicrosoft stock has grown more than 600% since Satya Nadella replaced Steve Ballmer as the company's CEO in 2014. (During Ballmer's 14-year tenure as CEO, the company's stock fell 32%.) One of Nadella's first moves was to reveal that Office applications like Word and Excel were coming toApple's iOS andGoogle's Android, rather than restricting those apps to smartphones that ran Windows. A year later, when Windows 10 came out, it was a free update, unlike Windows 7 and Windows 8.\nNadella had run the division that includes Microsoft's Azure public cloud immediately before taking the CEO job, and it shows. In his years as CEO he has made public appearances to talk about uses of Azure at prominent customers such as the National Basketball Association, Volkswagen and Walgreens. Azure is on track to becomeMicrosoft's largest business.\nMicrosoft under Nadella has become gentler and more open to working with rivals where it makes sense. It improved relations with rivals such as Red Hat and Salesforce, and it has added the open-source Linux operating system, once seen as a threat to Windows, directly into Windows. On Thursday, the company announced Windows 11 will support apps that run Google's Android operating system, and Nadella spent the end of the company's presentation portraying Microsoft as afriendlier option for software developersthan Apple.\nThese days, venture investorBen Horowitz has said, Microsoft is a great company for start-ups to partner with, rather than an entity to be feared.\nNadella's Microsoft has managed to largely avoid antitrust scrutiny despite its past, which includes a landmark antitrust case brought by the U.S. Justice Department in 1998. Meanwhile,Amazon, Apple,Facebookand Google have all faced pressure from regulators during the Nadella years. However, team communication app makerSlackdid file an antitrust complaint in Europe last year after Microsoft introduced Teams and released it to clients that subscribe to the Office 365 bundle.\nMore recently, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Ohio's Jim Jordan, sent a letter to Microsoft President Brad Smithsuggestingthat it might be covered by parts of five proposed antitrust bills making their way through committee.\nMicrosoft has spent more than $45 billion acquiring companies on Nadella's watch, including business social network LinkedIn, video game developers Mojang and Zenimax, and the code-storage service GitHub. Microsoft has largely left them to operate independently and grow. In April the companysaidit had agreed to acquire speech-recognition company Nuance for $19.7 billion, inclusive of equity and debt.\nNadella's deal track record has been more successful than that of his predecessor, whoseaQuantive and Nokiaacquisitions resulted in write-downs. Mojang's Minecraft game, by contrast, has become thebest-selling gamein history, and LinkedIn's quarterly revenue has nearly tripled.\nMicrosoft was among the first companies to exceed a $1 trillion valuation when ithit that milestonein April 2019. Not long before that, Microsoft had reclaimed the title ofmost valuable public company, although today it's held byApple.\nAmazon and Google's parent company,Alphabet, are both worth more than $1 trillion, as is oil company Saudi Aramco.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":346,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9998046225,"gmtCreate":1660908591971,"gmtModify":1676536421690,"author":{"id":"3580736330091009","authorId":"3580736330091009","name":"LuyiLuyi117","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7f354be323f5fc4b410011368a32fece","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580736330091009","authorIdStr":"3580736330091009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ What is your view on Tesla ?","listText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ What is your view on Tesla ?","text":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ What is your view on Tesla ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9998046225","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":523,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9999704793,"gmtCreate":1660579425014,"gmtModify":1676535888304,"author":{"id":"3580736330091009","authorId":"3580736330091009","name":"LuyiLuyi117","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7f354be323f5fc4b410011368a32fece","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580736330091009","authorIdStr":"3580736330091009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice thank you ","listText":"Nice thank you ","text":"Nice thank you","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9999704793","repostId":"1101167063","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1101167063","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1660573295,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1101167063?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-08-15 22:21","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Disney Shares Jumped 1.34% as Dan Loeb’s Third Point Takes New Stake","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1101167063","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Daniel Loeb’s Third Point has take a new stake in Disney, according to a letter to investors obtaine","content":"

Daniel Loeb’s Third Point has take a new stake in Disney, according to a letter to investors obtained by CNBC’s David Faber.

The shares jumped 1.34% on the news.In a letter to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Loeb used the company to “make every attempt” to acquire Comcast’s remaining minority stake prior to the contractual deadline in early 2024.

“We believe that it would even be prudent for Disney to pay a modest premium to accelerate the integration,” Loeb said in the letter.

Loeb also said he believes there is a strong case that the ESPN business should be spun off.

Disney justcame off a strong quarterwith its streaming subscriber growth blowing past estimates. now worth more than $2 trillion.\nThe software maker first hit that level just after 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 22, but dipped below that mark again before ending Thursday's trading session at $266.69 per share. The milestone follows the company's unveiling ofWindows 11, its first new version of the flagship operating system in more than five years, on Thursday morning.\nMicrosoft's value has doubled in two years' time, bolstered by demand for products such as the Teams chat app that kept organizations functioning during the coronavirus pandemic.\nThe appreciation of the company's stock price reflects a rejuvenated company, one that has looked beyond its dominant Windows operating system and found growth in cloud computing and acquisitions.\nMicrosoft stock has grown more than 600% since Satya Nadella replaced Steve Ballmer as the company's CEO in 2014. (During Ballmer's 14-year tenure as CEO, the company's stock fell 32%.) One of Nadella's first moves was to reveal that Office applications like Word and Excel were coming toApple's iOS andGoogle's Android, rather than restricting those apps to smartphones that ran Windows. A year later, when Windows 10 came out, it was a free update, unlike Windows 7 and Windows 8.\nNadella had run the division that includes Microsoft's Azure public cloud immediately before taking the CEO job, and it shows. In his years as CEO he has made public appearances to talk about uses of Azure at prominent customers such as the National Basketball Association, Volkswagen and Walgreens. Azure is on track to becomeMicrosoft's largest business.\nMicrosoft under Nadella has become gentler and more open to working with rivals where it makes sense. It improved relations with rivals such as Red Hat and Salesforce, and it has added the open-source Linux operating system, once seen as a threat to Windows, directly into Windows. On Thursday, the company announced Windows 11 will support apps that run Google's Android operating system, and Nadella spent the end of the company's presentation portraying Microsoft as afriendlier option for software developersthan Apple.\nThese days, venture investorBen Horowitz has said, Microsoft is a great company for start-ups to partner with, rather than an entity to be feared.\nNadella's Microsoft has managed to largely avoid antitrust scrutiny despite its past, which includes a landmark antitrust case brought by the U.S. Justice Department in 1998. Meanwhile,Amazon, Apple,Facebookand Google have all faced pressure from regulators during the Nadella years. However, team communication app makerSlackdid file an antitrust complaint in Europe last year after Microsoft introduced Teams and released it to clients that subscribe to the Office 365 bundle.\nMore recently, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Ohio's Jim Jordan, sent a letter to Microsoft President Brad Smithsuggestingthat it might be covered by parts of five proposed antitrust bills making their way through committee.\nMicrosoft has spent more than $45 billion acquiring companies on Nadella's watch, including business social network LinkedIn, video game developers Mojang and Zenimax, and the code-storage service GitHub. Microsoft has largely left them to operate independently and grow. In April the companysaidit had agreed to acquire speech-recognition company Nuance for $19.7 billion, inclusive of equity and debt.\nNadella's deal track record has been more successful than that of his predecessor, whoseaQuantive and Nokiaacquisitions resulted in write-downs. Mojang's Minecraft game, by contrast, has become thebest-selling gamein history, and LinkedIn's quarterly revenue has nearly tripled.\nMicrosoft was among the first companies to exceed a $1 trillion valuation when ithit that milestonein April 2019. Not long before that, Microsoft had reclaimed the title ofmost valuable public company, although today it's held byApple.\nAmazon and Google's parent company,Alphabet, are both worth more than $1 trillion, as is oil company Saudi Aramco.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":346,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
