The objective of this data point is to smooth out any fluctuations in earnings. The highest it has ever been previously was in 1929 and 2000, and these times directly preceded bear markets. As you can see below, we are currently at the second highest level in history.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cd7fb9cd4886d330700f25d58806f67a\" tg-width=\"720\" tg-height=\"433\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>S&amp;P 500 SHILLER CAPE RATIO DATA BY YCHARTS.</span></p>\n<p>According to Advisor Perspectives, which provides news and commentary for financial advisors, the CAPE ratio explained an incredible 90% of the variation in returns from 1995 to 2020. In other words, for an asset class that's completely random, this is as accurate an indicator as we're going to get.</p>\n<p>The S&amp;P 500 has historically&nbsp;returned an average of 10% per year. But based on today's Shiller P/E ratio of 38, the market could be in for disappointing returns in 2022 and beyond.</p>\n<p>However, I don't think investors should panic just yet. The Great Recession of 2008 and 2009 and the coronavirus pandemic led to unprecedented amounts of government stimulus to support economic growth. Even with an elevated CAPE ratio over the past 10 years, the stock market just kept climbing higher. Credit the Federal Reserve for perhaps distorting the correlation between the Shiller P/E ratio and future returns.</p>\n<p><b>What should&nbsp;investors do?</b></p>\n<p>I firmly believe that you should only invest money in the stock market that you don't need for the next five years. This is because in the near term, the market is extremely unpredictable, but over longer time horizons, the probability of a positive return increases dramatically.</p>\n<p>With that in mind, if you're looking to put capital to work right now when interest rates are near zero, you really don't have any other option than to invest in the stock market. Although the Shiller P/E ratio might signal a poor decade of returns ahead, where else would you park your money?</p>\n<p>I believe that owning a well-diversified portfolio (at least 25 stocks) of competitively advantaged businesses that have proven track records and solid growth prospects is the best&nbsp;strategy&nbsp;you can pursue. Names like&nbsp;<b>Home Depot</b>&nbsp;(NYSE:HD)&nbsp;and&nbsp;<b>Starbucks</b>(NASDAQ:SBUX)immediately come to mind.</p>\n<p>The&nbsp;home-improvement giant&nbsp;has grown profits 16% annually over the past 10 years, is able to outshine competitors thanks to its massive scale, and still has huge expansion opportunities thanks to a robust U.S. housing market.</p>\n<p>The giant coffeehouse chain possesses a powerful brand, supported by a top-notch loyalty program and premium status that resonates strongly with consumers. Starbucks' management estimates that by 2030, there'll be a&nbsp;whopping 55,000&nbsp;locations worldwide, 63%&nbsp;higher&nbsp;than today's count.</p>\n<p><b>Focus on what really matters</b></p>\n<p>No matter what the Shiller P/E ratio says, I think Home Depot and Starbucks will continue to do well and be solid additions to anyone's portfolio. This is what investors must focus on. Concentrate intensely on the quality of the companies you own, and you'll surely do well over time.</p>\n<p>Trying to time the market based on whether you think it's cheap or expensive is not a game you want to play. Yet, this didn’t stop GRAB stock from plummeting more than 20% on the day of the merger.\nSince then, investors have continued to give GRAB stock the cold shoulder, with shares falling another 16% to trade at $7.34 at the time of this writing.\nNow, before you write off an investment in Grab Holdings, consider that the company is still in the early innings and let’s consider where GRAB stock could go from here.\nWhat’s Behind Grab’s Cool Reception?\nGrab is the largest ride-hailing and delivery company in Southeast Asia, with operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam and serving more than 187 million users.\nThere are a number of plausible explanations for why GRAB stock has not been well-received by investors.\nFor starters, growth estimates for the Southeast Asian region have been lowered recently primarily due to the coronavirus pandemic. In September, the Asian Development Bank dropped its 2021 growth forecast for the region to 3.1% from 4.4% previously.\nWidespread lockdowns in the region due to recurring waves of COVID-19 have hurt demand for Grab’s ride-hailing services and weighed on revenue despite an increase in food-delivery volumes.\nGrab reported its third-quarter results on Nov. 11. Revenue fell 9% year over year to $157 million, with the company citing “a decline in mobility due to the severe lockdowns in Vietnam.” Falling revenue is obviously not something investors want to see, especially from a company that has yet to turn a profit.\nYet, the company did report a 32% year-over-year increase in gross merchandise value, with the dollar value of transactions from Grab’s services rising to $4.04 billion thanks to strength in the company’s deliveries segment.\nThere’s Reason for Optimism\nThe deal to go public through the merger with Altimeter Growth Corp. valued Grab at close to $40 billion, which as I mentioned, was a record. The fact that three weeks later GRAB stock has a market cap of about $27.5 billion tells us that perhaps things got a bit too heated. However, there is reason for optimism.\nThe ride-hailing platform has secured the backing of significant players across related industries, including DiDi Global(NYSE:DIDI),Toyota(NYSE:TM) and SoftBank’s(OTCMKTS:SFTBY) Vision Fund.\nGrab Holdings also has some positive catalysts on the horizon. For example, the company recently announced that it will be purchasing Jaya Grocer, a premium supermarket chain in Malaysia.\nThis acquisition fits nicely with the ride-hailing and delivery business model the company seeks to expand. Management refers to the model as a “superapp” focus, whereby users can access multiple services in a single, convenient location.\nThe Bottom Line on GRAB Stock\nI can’t say Grab Holdings can immediately turn things around. But its potential in the burgeoning Southeast Asian market means it remains relevant and has a long runway.\nOf the six analysts following GRAB stock, two rate it a “buy” and there are no “sell” ratings,according to The Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, the consensus price target stands at $12.25, which represents upside of 67% from current levels.\nGRAB stock is very cheap now, so it’s hardly a dangerous speculative play. There’s a good argument to be made for investing now and hoping that the company continues to expand its footprint. The stock has gained favor with a loyal community that sees a strong recovery coming for the movie theater company. CEO&nbsp;<b>Adam Aron</b>&nbsp;may have brought in new fans and investors with an openness to accept several cryptocurrencies for payment.</p>\n<p><b>What Happened:</b>&nbsp;Aronannouncedthis week that AMC Entertainment Holdings will accept&nbsp;<b>Bitcoin</b>,&nbsp;<b>Ethereum</b>,&nbsp;<b>Litecoin</b> and&nbsp;<b>Bitcoin Cash</b>&nbsp;transactions as payment.</p>\n<p>The announcement came after Aronsaidon the second quarter earnings call that the movie theater company would accept Bitcoin payments by the end of the year.</p>\n<p>Aron’s announcement ruffled some feathers in the<b>Dogecoin</b>(CRYPTO: DOGE) community, as no announcement has been made to accept the popular meme cryptocurrency at the theaters yet.</p>\n<p><b>NFTs Next?:</b>&nbsp;Many companies have been seeking ways to get more involved with cryptocurrencies to take advantage of rising interest and valuations and also potential new customer bases.</p>\n<p>The rise ofnon-fungible tokensis another area many companies are exploring to see if there are ways to diversify their businesses.</p>\n<p><b>DraftKings Inc</b>&nbsp;,<b>PLBY Group</b>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<b>Funko Inc</b>&nbsp;are among the well-known companies that have dipped their toes into the NFT market.</p>\n<p>ArontoldCNBC in early September that the company was exploring NFTs as a way to grow the business.</p>\n<p>“There are some ideas that have surfaced,” Aron said.</p>\n<p>The CEO indicated that adding NFTs to the business model could create “real value” for AMC investors and the company.</p>\n<p>“One of the ones I particularly love is to make commemorative movie tickets as an NFT.”</p>\n<p>Aron told CNBC that it could be a “really smart idea” to launch movie ticket NFTs as the movie chain has 50 to 100 big releases in theaters a year.</p>\n<p>The move could make NFTs “mean something for us and customers,” Aron added. The launch of NFTs could drive the business going forward.</p>\n<p>CNBC Fast Money member<b>Guy Adami</b>liked the idea of NFTs from AMC and its CEO while brushing aside talk of a short squeeze in the stock.</p>\n<p>“I respect that,” Adami said of a potential NFT launch.</p>\n<p>The open mindedness from Aron is a reason for bullishness, Adami added.</p>\n<p>While Adami doesn’t love the current AMC business model, he highlighted that he likes how Aron could be skating to where the puck might be going, referencing a famous quote from NHL great Wayne Gretzky.</p>\n<p><b>Price Action:</b>&nbsp;AMC shares were trading at $44.09 last Friday. CEO&nbsp;<b>Adam Aron</b>&nbsp;may have brought in new fans and investors with an openness to accept several cryptocurrencies for payment.</p>\n<p><b>What Happened:</b>&nbsp;Aronannouncedthis week that AMC Entertainment Holdings will accept&nbsp;<b>Bitcoin</b>,&nbsp;<b>Ethereum</b>,&nbsp;<b>Litecoin</b> and&nbsp;<b>Bitcoin Cash</b>&nbsp;transactions as payment.</p>\n<p>The announcement came after Aronsaidon the second quarter earnings call that the movie theater company would accept Bitcoin payments by the end of the year.</p>\n<p>Aron’s announcement ruffled some feathers in the<b>Dogecoin</b>(CRYPTO: DOGE) community, as no announcement has been made to accept the popular meme cryptocurrency at the theaters yet.</p>\n<p><b>NFTs Next?:</b>&nbsp;Many companies have been seeking ways to get more involved with cryptocurrencies to take advantage of rising interest and valuations and also potential new customer bases.</p>\n<p>The rise ofnon-fungible tokensis another area many companies are exploring to see if there are ways to diversify their businesses.</p>\n<p><b>DraftKings Inc</b>&nbsp;,<b>PLBY Group</b>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<b>Funko Inc</b>&nbsp;are among the well-known companies that have dipped their toes into the NFT market.</p>\n<p>ArontoldCNBC in early September that the company was exploring NFTs as a way to grow the business.</p>\n<p>“There are some ideas that have surfaced,” Aron said.</p>\n<p>The CEO indicated that adding NFTs to the business model could create “real value” for AMC investors and the company.</p>\n<p>“One of the ones I particularly love is to make commemorative movie tickets as an NFT.”</p>\n<p>Aron told CNBC that it could be a “really smart idea” to launch movie ticket NFTs as the movie chain has 50 to 100 big releases in theaters a year.</p>\n<p>The move could make NFTs “mean something for us and customers,” Aron added. The launch of NFTs could drive the business going forward.</p>\n<p>CNBC Fast Money member<b>Guy Adami</b>liked the idea of NFTs from AMC and its CEO while brushing aside talk of a short squeeze in the stock.</p>\n<p>“I respect that,” Adami said of a potential NFT launch.</p>\n<p>The open mindedness from Aron is a reason for bullishness, Adami added.</p>\n<p>While Adami doesn’t love the current AMC business model, he highlighted that he likes how Aron could be skating to where the puck might be going, referencing a famous quote from NHL great Wayne Gretzky.</p>\n<p><b>Price Action:</b>&nbsp;AMC shares were trading at $44.09 last Friday.
