Technologies","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2238689001","media":"Barrons","summary":"The data analytics giant Palantir Technologies is moving into crunching numbers on trash.Palantir (t","content":"

The data analytics giant Palantir Technologies is moving into crunching numbers on trash.

Palantir (ticker: PLTR) announced a partnership Thursday with Rubicon Technologies, a relatively new software and solutions provider to the waste and recycling industry.

Rubicon wants to be the operating system for the waste industry, providing haulers with software and connectivity solutions to help make them more efficient, as well as data-collection solutions for cities and companies generating garbage.

Rubicon believes the waste industry has too much, well, waste and is ripe for disruption. The relationship with Palantir enhances Rubicon's data analytics capabilities, which eventually will help save waste generators and haulers money, it said. Palantir will also help Rubicon commercialize some of its products.

"Data has been at the center of the Rubicon story since our company's founding, and the application of data to business processes is what has enabled us to consistently drive environmental innovation in the waste and recycling category," said Rubicon CEO Nate Morris in the companies' news release.

Rubicon isn't a public company yet. It is merging with the special-purpose acquisition company Founder SPAC (FOUN) to raise additional capital. When the merger is complete, the combined company will trade under the stock symbol "RBT." The deal will raise about $350 million in cash for Rubicon.

The transaction values Rubicon stock at about $2 billion based on about 199 million shares outstanding when the deal closes. That is expected to happen in the second quarter of 2022 .

Since the merger was announced in mid-December, Founder stock, which will become Rubicon, is up about 1%. That isn't bad, given that the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite are down about 15% and 25%, respectively, over the same span. The Defiance Next Gen SPAC Derived ETF has fallen 32%.

Founder stock may have held up better than other stocks and SPAC shares because Rubicon has sales and is more modestly valued than other software companies. The company generated $583 million in 2021 and expects to generate about $736 million in 2022. That's about 26% year over year growth. The company generates gross profits, but not operating profit just yet.

Shares of Founder trade for, very roughly, three times Rubicon's sales. Software companies in the S&P 500 trade for closer to nine times sales, although those in the market benchmark have a better mix of growth and profit margins.

The software components of the S&P 500 have been growing sales at roughly 14% a year on average for the past three years. Operating profit margins are about 34% for the group. Of course, software companies in the S&P 500 are mature and include companies such as Salesforce that generate tens of billions in annual sales.

The Palantir relationship is designed to enhance Rubicon's offerings. That could mean even faster sales growth for investors.

Coming into Wednesday trading, Palantir stock was off about 56% year to date.

","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Palantir Is Getting Into Garbage in Partnership With Rubicon Technologies
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nPalantir Is Getting Into Garbage in Partnership With Rubicon Technologies\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-05-26 21:18 GMT+8 Barrons\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The data analytics giant Palantir Technologies is moving into crunching numbers on trash.Palantir (ticker: PLTR) announced a partnership Thursday with Rubicon Technologies, a relatively new software ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PLTR":"Palantir Technologies Inc."},"source_url":"https://www.barrons.com/articles/palantir-rubicon-waste-data-analytics-51653568935?mod=hp_LATEST","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2238689001","content_text":"The data analytics giant Palantir Technologies is moving into crunching numbers on trash.Palantir (ticker: PLTR) announced a partnership Thursday with Rubicon Technologies, a relatively new software and solutions provider to the waste and recycling industry.Rubicon wants to be the operating system for the waste industry, providing haulers with software and connectivity solutions to help make them more efficient, as well as data-collection solutions for cities and companies generating garbage.Rubicon believes the waste industry has too much, well, waste and is ripe for disruption. Their motives differ of course. Bears would like investors to believe that share prices will continue to move toward the low analyst target price of $250.Meanwhile, contrarians would tell investors the upside — 58% — between Tesla’s current price and the consensus target price make it too good to ignore. Who should investors follow? The contrarians. In other words, the bulls. How Did We Get Here? The answer to why Tesla — and most other tech firms — have fallen so precipitously in 2022 is due to the Federal Reserve’s policy shift.Tech companies including Tesla are valued based on the current discounted value of their future profits. The value of those discounted profits decreases as bond yields rise. When the Fed increases interest rates and cuts back its bond buying program those bond yields rise, and tech companies lose their shine. That’s why any hint of Fed rate hikes is met by capital flight from the tech sector. In other words, that’s why Tesla has fallen so far and so swiftly. And investment bank Nomura is now under the belief that the Fed will enact 75 basis point hikes in June and July. That should mean that Tesla will fall further based on the economic arguments above. So, what exactly do investors have to be bullish about?Fundamental ImprovementIt’s difficult not to take several positives from Tesla’s most recent earnings report. My thesis is that these positives will soon outweigh the negatives poised by Fed policy and its effect on the tech sector. Further, I’d assert that the markets will soon begin to send capital back into worthy tech firms and that the wreck will dissipate. And Tesla, and TSLA stock, is tech worth investing in.That is predicated on the strength of Tesla in the most recent earnings report. The company sold $16.86 billion of vehicles, 87% more than a year prior. It also made a margin of 32.9% on those vehicle sales, a 6.36% improvement on a year-over-year basis. On top of that, free cash flow (FCF) reached $2.2 billion in the quarter which was much, much higher than the $293 million a year prior. That means Tesla started this quarter with $2.2 billion more in cash.Could TSLA Stock Be a Value Play?Tesla can hardly be considered a value play. After all, its current price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio is worse than that of 92% of its industry peers. However, at 84.29 its P/E ratio is far lower than the 451.87 median P/E ratio Tesla has sported over the past 10 years. Sure, we’re in a downtrend right now. Sure, there’s no clear signal that we won’t be in this for much longer yet. But tech will rebound. And TSLA stock will as well.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2597,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9022797072,"gmtCreate":1653577568096,"gmtModify":1676535307647,"author":{"id":"3581741175905126","authorId":"3581741175905126","name":"sk5735","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/119fc82bddd3291f8c7e303167676732","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581741175905126","authorIdStr":"3581741175905126"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a Meanwhile, the Russia-Ukraine crisis could worsen the situation further. However, Daiwa analyst Jairam Nathan remains confident about Tesla’s (NASDAQ:TSLA) ability to navigate the challenges better than its peers.Highlighting Tesla’s 2021 performance, Nathan said Tesla has managed chip shortages better, while its cost-efficient China factory continues to be a major export hub, providing a competitive advantage amid the current geopolitical crisis.Nathan upgraded Tesla stock to a Buy from a Hold and expects higher fuel costs to drive demand for EVs in the future. However, he lowered his price target to $900 from $980.It’s worth noting that Tesla’s vehicle deliveries remained strong in 2021 (about 936K, up 87% year-over-year) despite the supply-chain concerns. Further, the company expects deliveries to stay strong and increase by 50% in 2022.Besides Nathan, Piper Sandler analyst Alexander Potter also has a bullish outlook on TSLA shares. While Potter sees chip shortages as a headwind, he expects Tesla to exceed its delivery growth guidance handily. The analyst expects Tesla to deliver 1.58 million vehicles in 2022, up about 69% year-over-year.TSLA Stock ForecastTesla continues to impress with its record deliveries. Meanwhile, increased volumes and operating leverage will likely support its margins. However, supply-chain concerns and increased commodity costs keep Wall Street analysts cautiously optimistic on TSLA stock.Nevertheless, investor sentiments remain positive on TSLA stock. Per TipRanks’ Stock Investors tool, 1.8% of investors holding portfolios on TipRanks have increased their stake in Tesla shares.TSLA’s stock price forecast of $1,068.40 indicates 21.4% upside potential to current levels. The S&P 500 Financials sector exchange-trade fundXLFset a fresh record intraday high again on Wednesday, marking its fourth record in the eight trading days so far in 2022 as investors gear up for quarterly reports from BlackRock (BLK), Citigroup (C), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), and Wells Fargo (WFC).","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9,".DJI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3737,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9006649295,"gmtCreate":1641731444663,"gmtModify":1676533643259,"author":{"id":"3581741175905126","authorId":"3581741175905126","name":"sk5735","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/119fc82bddd3291f8c7e303167676732","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581741175905126","authorIdStr":"3581741175905126"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Going to be tough year ahead ","listText":"Going to be tough year ahead ","text":"Going to be tough year ahead","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9006649295","repostId":"1141196846","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1141196846","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1641567409,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1141196846?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-07 22:56","market":"us","language":"en","title":"EV Stocks Rebounded in Morning Trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1141196846","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"EV stocks rebounded in morning trading. Poor performance, negative perception, and the fear of losing money can all cause stocks to sell off and trade at lower-than-usual prices.Peloton (NASDAQ:PTON) is one of those stocks that have sold off considerably in 2021. Indeed, the stock is down 77% this year. Let's look at what has caused it to fall so hard and whether it's a good value for bargain-shopping investors.Image source: Getty Images.Peloton management overcorrectedThe clearest reason Peloton's stock fell so much is the worldwide economic reopening. Peloton's products were in high demand when economies were in various phases of lockdowns and nonessential businesses, including gyms, were forced to close their doors to the public. That limited the ways folks could exercise, and they turned to Peloton in large numbers. The surge in demand was so pronounced that Peloton had difficulty fulfilling orders. At one point, customers had to wait more than ten weeks to receive their exercise equipment. In response, management made investments to increase manufacturing capacity and reduce delivery times.Unfortunately for Peloton, several effective vaccines against COVID-19 were developed, economies started reopening, and demand for in-home exercise equipment decreased. Meanwhile, Peloton is stuck with a higher expense base because of its investments to increase capacity. In its most recent quarter ended Sept. 30, Peloton reported a net loss of $367 million compared to a net profit of $69.3 million at the same time last year.To make matters worse, Peloton had decreased the price of its bike from $1,895 to $1,495. The move did create increased purchasing from price-sensitive consumers but not enough to offset the considerable price decrease. As a result, revenue in the connected-fitness-products segment (which includes bike sales) fell from $601 million in the third quarter of 2020 to $501 million in Q3 2021. Meanwhile, supply-chain disruptions are raising input and transportation costs; the cost to fulfill sales increased by 21.1% year over year in Q3.One potential, near-term bright spot for Peloton is the $1.27 billion of inventory it had on hand ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season -- up from $937 million in the prior quarter. The quarter ending in December typically is the most lucrative for Peloton, coinciding with not only holiday gift-giving but also new year resolution-induced purchasing. So management is hopeful for strong sales this quarter.Peloton's stock is a relative bargainPeloton's stock has undoubtedly faced a steep price decline in 2021 -- and for clear reasons. Customer demand leveled off as economies reopened; meanwhile, management was making investments to increase capacity. All of this has shaken investor confidence. At one point in the last two years, Peloton's stock was selling at a price-to-sales ratio over 20. As of this writing, it's down to 2.7.Yet Peloton's stock price crash could now be a bargain for long-term investors who can tolerate any further volatility the company could go through in the short term as it adjusts to changing consumer behavior.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"PTON":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1027,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9009446078,"gmtCreate":1640776187910,"gmtModify":1676533540748,"author":{"id":"3581741175905126","authorId":"3581741175905126","name":"sk5735","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/119fc82bddd3291f8c7e303167676732","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581741175905126","authorIdStr":"3581741175905126"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hmm","listText":"Hmm","text":"Hmm","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9009446078","repostId":"2194435276","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2194435276","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1640763602,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2194435276?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-12-29 15:40","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Growth Stocks Down 37% to 60% to Buy Right Now","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2194435276","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"The current price of the broader stock market doesn't reflect the major sell-off in some of the year's hottest technology stocks.","content":"
\n
The broad S&P 500 stock market index might be near an all-time high, but below the surface, some of the most popular technology stocks have collapsed. Many have declined by more than 50% from their highs, far surpassing the typical bear market threshold of 20%.The sell-off is caused by uncertainty about the new omicron coronavirus variant and the prospect of interest rate increases occurring faster than investors were predicting in 2022. Both of these concerns have dampened the market's appetite for risk, meaning investors are less willing to pay sky-high prices for technology stocks in particular. But that might be an opportunity for patient investors with a long-term time horizon. Here are three companies helping to build the future, with beaten-down stock prices that make them worth buying now.Image source: Getty Images.1. Block: Down 40%Block (NYSE:SQ) is the business and consumer payments giant formerly known as Square. It rebranded to reflect its increasing diversification away from merchant services and into other innovative segments, including blockchain technology. But despite this new direction, Block hasn't abandoned its most profitable segments, which are centered around payment services. For businesses, Block provides hardware that allows merchants to process credit card purchases in-store, in addition to loans and other services. And on the consumer side, Block's CashApp serves as an alternative to bank accounts for its 40 million monthly users, with instant peer-to-peer money transfers, and even a stock and cryptocurrency investing platform.Excluding Bitcoin, Block's various segments have delivered a gross profit margin of 55% so far in 2021. That's compared to just 2% for the Bitcoin segment, which is mostly derived from CashApp users transacting in the cryptocurrency.Block's stock has been crushed recently amid the tech sell-off, but there's plenty for investors to be excited about. The company is acquiring buy now, pay later giant Afterpay, which will allow consumers to finance small purchases through CashApp, providing a potentially enormous boost for Block's merchants within the ecosystem.Analysts expect Block to generate $17.6 billion in revenue by the close of 2021, placing the stock at a price-to-sales multiple around 4.4. It's a significant discount to just two months ago, and since the company is now consistently profitable, it certainly warrants consideration for long-term investors -- especially given how aggressively Block is growing its umbrella of businesses.Image source: Getty Images.2. Affirm Holdings: Down 37%Affirm Holdings (NASDAQ:AFRM) is the world's largest stand-alone buy now, pay later company even despite the recent sell-off. It trailed Afterpay for the last few years, and when that company was acquired by Block, it looked as though Affirm was being left in the dust. However, in a spectacular counterpunch, Affirm recently secured a deal with Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company.Affirm will be featured in the checkout of Amazon's online platform. When customers are making a purchase, they'll have the option to finance it rather than paying with their own money. When the deal was announced in August it ignited a rally in Affirm's stock from $70 to $176, eclipsing Afterpay's $29 billion deal with Block in the process.Unsurprisingly, Amazon offers Affirm enormous growth in users and gross merchandise value (GMV). Combined with Affirm's existing deal with Shopify, it now has a $600 billion-per-year opportunity in front of it. That's a 7,000% increase on the GMV it processed in fiscal 2021, which ended on June 30.Affirm is also expanding beyond standard integrations with merchants' online stores, into physical cards for consumers to use buy now, pay later's short-term financing anywhere they like. The steep correction in Affirm's stock presents a strong long-term opportunity for investors, given its innovative approach to consumer finance, and the potential offered by its deals with Amazon and Shopify.Image source: Getty Images.3. Upstart Holdings: Down 60%The third and final stock that's down big and worth buying now is Upstart Holdings (NASDAQ:UPST). It's one of the best performers of 2021, with a 280% year-to-date return, even after accounting for the recent 60% collapse in its stock. At one point in October, Upstart had gained over 800% for the year with a price of $401, before tumbling to the $155 it trades at today. The company has leveraged artificial intelligence to transform the way banks assess potential loans. Upstart's goal is to use its technology to unseat the decades-old FICO credit scoring system, by analyzing over 1,000 different data points to gain a more comprehensive perspective of potential borrowers. So far it's working exceptionally well, with Upstart-originated loans resulting in 75% fewer defaults for the same approval rate. The company began in unsecured lending before entering its largest market yet, secured vehicle loans. It has built an impressive network of car dealerships and it has done so quickly through its acquisition of Prodigy, a car sales software platform now known as Upstart Auto Retail. In the recent third quarter, it had 291 dealers using the new sales and loan origination service, up 219% from the same period last year.Since Upstart is a loan originator, it doesn't lend any money itself and therefore carries almost no credit risk. It earns a fee when its banking partners write a loan using its algorithm, and also sells its software to institutions that want to integrate it into their application processes. At the beginning of 2021, Upstart estimated it would generate $500 million in revenue for the year. It's on track to deliver $800 million, and in 2022 analysts estimate it will bring in over $1 billion for the first time in the company's history. But with the rapid expansion of its vehicle-lending segment it could blow all expectations out of the water again next year, and that makes the currently discounted stock price a major opportunity.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SQ":1,"AFRM":1,"UPST":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1267,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9009263422,"gmtCreate":1640696404353,"gmtModify":1676533534617,"author":{"id":"3581741175905126","authorId":"3581741175905126","name":"sk5735","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/119fc82bddd3291f8c7e303167676732","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581741175905126","authorIdStr":"3581741175905126"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy","listText":"Buy","text":"Buy","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9009263422","repostId":"1189276746","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1189276746","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1640691015,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1189276746?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-12-28 19:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Is DocuSign Stock A Buy Or Sell After Drop Post Q3 Earnings?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1189276746","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"Summary\n\nDocuSign has dropped 50% from recent highs after a disastrous earnings report.\nGrowth is pr","content":"
Summary
\n
\n
DocuSign has dropped 50% from recent highs after a disastrous earnings report.
\n
Growth is projected to slow down considerably with significant sequential deceleration.
\n
The company still maintains solid net retention rates and free cash flow generation.
\n
I rate shares a buy on account of the lower risk story.
\n
\n
DocuSign (DOCU) has shown investors the importance of factoring in valuation in their analysis. And gains from some","content":"
There's been a lot of investor excitement about electric vehicle (EV) companies. And gains from some stocks have been exceptional over the last two years. Now, the landscape for the sector seems to be clearing so investors can get a better idea of who the players are, and over what time frame EV makers will be bringing out new offerings.
\n
Beyond just looking at the exciting new products and potentially huge market, investors should research details that will help compare and contrast the EV makers. If you're interested in diving in now, the three charts below will provide a look at some data worth considering before you make an investment.
\n
Returns have been unpredictable
\n
Many have bought into the EV sector looking for large, market-beating returns. While shares of EV leaderTesla(NASDAQ:TSLA)skyrocketed last year, as the field of publicly traded names has grown, returns have been inconsistent. And investors need to be prepared for plenty of volatility along the way. The chart below shows the most recent six-month returns from a mix of U.S.- and China-based EV makers:
\n
DATA BYYCHARTS.
\n
Even the strong returns from Tesla and Lucid Group(NASDAQ:LCID)stocks have included big swings in just the past two months. And though Chinese EV makers Nio(NYSE:NIO) and XPeng(NYSE:XPEV)have been growing sales quickly, their stocks have backtracked since June 2021.Lordstown Motors(NASDAQ:RIDE), maker of the Endurance all-electric work truck, has struggled, and shareholders have paid the price this year. The lesson is that there will be winners and losers, and EV stock moves can be quick and extreme.
\n
There's plenty of demand
\n
Just looking at share-price movement doesn't tell the full story, of course. While Nio and XPeng shares haven't moved higher in the last half-year, both company's sales skyrocketed over the first nine months of 2021, as shown below:
\n
DATA SOURCE: COMPANY FINANCIAL FILINGS. CHART BY AUTHOR.*XPENG 2021 COMPARISON WITH FINAL THREE QUARTERS OF 2020.
\n
Tesla has almost doubled its deliveries over the first nine months of 2021 compared to the year-ago period. But XPeng andNio deliveries are growing much faster, though the two Chinese companies are growing off of a much smaller base. And as both are already richly valued, with recent market capitalizations of around $36 billion and $48 billion, respectively, investors have sold off shares in recent months. Global demand is strong and growing, but that won't automatically result in growing share prices.
\n
Profitability will take time
\n
Investors in any business need to focus on the bottom line. Early stage growth companies aren't necessarily expected to become profitable quickly, however. Especially with a high-fixed-cost business like automotive manufacturing, profits will only come with scale. As the chart below shows, few EV makers are bringing in profits yet:
\n
DATA SOURCE: COMPANY FINANCIAL FILINGS. CHART BY AUTHOR.
\n
Tesla led the industry with a reported profit of more than $1.6 billion in the third quarter of 2021 .
\n
BYD is perhaps a less well-known Chinese EV company, and it sells more than just electric cars; it also makes batteries, electric buses, and traditional internal combustion vehicles. And gains from some stocks have been exceptional over the last two years. Now, the landscape for the sector seems to be clearing so investors can get a better idea of who the players are, and over what time frame EV makers will be bringing out new offerings.\nBeyond just looking at the exciting new products and potentially huge market, investors should research details that will help compare and contrast the EV makers. If you're interested in diving in now, the three charts below will provide a look at some data worth considering before you make an investment.\nReturns have been unpredictable\nMany have bought into the EV sector looking for large, market-beating returns. While shares of EV leaderTesla(NASDAQ:TSLA)skyrocketed last year, as the field of publicly traded names has grown, returns have been inconsistent. And investors need to be prepared for plenty of volatility along the way. The chart below shows the most recent six-month returns from a mix of U.S.- and China-based EV makers:\nDATA BYYCHARTS.\nEven the strong returns from Tesla and Lucid Group(NASDAQ:LCID)stocks have included big swings in just the past two months. The lesson is that there will be winners and losers, and EV stock moves can be quick and extreme.\nThere's plenty of demand\nJust looking at share-price movement doesn't tell the full story, of course. While Nio and XPeng shares haven't moved higher in the last half-year, both company's sales skyrocketed over the first nine months of 2021, as shown below:\nDATA SOURCE: COMPANY FINANCIAL FILINGS. CHART BY AUTHOR.*XPENG 2021 COMPARISON WITH FINAL THREE QUARTERS OF 2020.\nTesla has almost doubled its deliveries over the first nine months of 2021 compared to the year-ago period. But XPeng andNio deliveries are growing much faster, though the two Chinese companies are growing off of a much smaller base. And as both are already richly valued, with recent market capitalizations of around $36 billion and $48 billion, respectively, investors have sold off shares in recent months. Global demand is strong and growing, but that won't automatically result in growing share prices.\nProfitability will take time\nInvestors in any business need to focus on the bottom line. Early stage growth companies aren't necessarily expected to become profitable quickly, however. Especially with a high-fixed-cost business like automotive manufacturing, profits will only come with scale. As the chart below shows, few EV makers are bringing in profits yet:\nDATA SOURCE: COMPANY FINANCIAL FILINGS. CHART BY AUTHOR.\nTesla led the industry with a reported profit of more than $1.6 billion in the third quarter of 2021 .\nBYD is perhaps a less well-known Chinese EV company, and it sells more than just electric cars; it also makes batteries, electric buses, and traditional internal combustion vehicles. But its \"new energy vehicles\" -- which include plug-in hybrid electrics -- made up more than 90% of the nearly 100,000 new energy passenger vehicles it delivered in November.\nLucid and Rivian Automotive(NASDAQ:RIVN)are getting a lot of attention recently, but they've barely started shipping product; the losses there will continue for some time until those companies reach scale. Investors hope that Nio and XPeng reach profitability soon, as both are growing sales and expanding product offerings. But some investors have pulled the plug on the company lately.
\n
Tesla (TSLA) shares are nearly 25% below their all-time high set earlier in the year, and down 2% for 2021 to date -— a time when traditional automakers are surging as they ramp up electric vehicle ambitions.
\n
Ford (F) stock is up nearly 75%, putting it in the top 10 of the S&P 500 in 2021. The company unveiled its electric F-150 Lightning truck last month and also told investors that it now expects electric vehicles to account for 40% of global sales by 2030.
\n
And GM (GM) is up more than 40% as well. The Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac maker said this month that it's looking to spend a whopping $35 billion on EVs by 2025.
\n
It seems investors are a bit infatuated with these legacy Big 3 automakers as they look to rapidly expand their electric car offerings to catch up with Tesla.
\n
Tesla is still growing incredibly quickly. Analysts expect earnings per share to more than double this year and increase at an average rate of about 45% annually over the next few years.
\n
Yet Tesla is one of the most polarizing stocks on Wall Street.
\n
According to Refinitiv, 14 analysts have the stock rated a \"buy,\" 13 a \"hold\" and 10 a \"sell.\" Contrast that with GM, which has 20 buy ratings, two holds and no sells.
\n
Skeptics have many questions about Tesla and Musk
\n
The consensus target price for Tesla stock from analysts is $652, about 6% lower than its current price.
\n
Tesla critics have a pile of worries to point to. But some investors have pulled the plug on the company lately.\nTesla (TSLA) shares are nearly 25% below their all-time high set earlier in the year, and down 2% for 2021 to date -— a time when traditional automakers are surging as they ramp up electric vehicle ambitions.\nFord (F) stock is up nearly 75%, putting it in the top 10 of the S&P 500 in 2021. The company unveiled its electric F-150 Lightning truck last month and also told investors that it now expects electric vehicles to account for 40% of global sales by 2030.\nAnd GM (GM) is up more than 40% as well. The Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac maker said this month that it's looking to spend a whopping $35 billion on EVs by 2025.\nIt seems investors are a bit infatuated with these legacy Big 3 automakers as they look to rapidly expand their electric car offerings to catch up with Tesla.\nTesla is still growing incredibly quickly. Analysts expect earnings per share to more than double this year and increase at an average rate of about 45% annually over the next few years.\nYet Tesla is one of the most polarizing stocks on Wall Street.\nAccording to Refinitiv, 14 analysts have the stock rated a \"buy,\" 13 a \"hold\" and 10 a \"sell.\" Contrast that with GM, which has 20 buy ratings, two holds and no sells.\nSkeptics have many questions about Tesla and Musk\nThe consensus target price for Tesla stock from analysts is $652, about 6% lower than its current price.\nTesla critics have a pile of worries to point to. A notable short seller who was featured in \"The Big Short\" is betting against the company. Concerns about Tesla's management bench sprung up after longtime executive Jerome Guillen abruptly left earlier this month — especially since CEO Elon Musk is also busy running SpaceX.\nAnd Musk's obsession with bitcoin and dogecoin, along with other extracurricular activities like hosting Saturday Night Live and constantly tweeting, might be a turnoff for some investors and analysts.\nStill, there is no denying that the company has plenty of ardent fans, and its vehicles have grabbed plenty of positive headlines this week alone.\nFor example, Cars.com (CARS) announced earlier this week that Tesla's Model 3 was ranked first in its American-Made Index, which measures how much a vehicle contributes to the US economy based on factors such as domestic factory jobs, manufacturing plants and parts sourcing.\nThe Model 3 edged out Ford's Mustang for the top spot, and Tesla's Model Y also ranked third on the list. Shares of Tesla rallied more than 5% Wednesday following the news.\nThe stock gained even more ground Thursday after Musk tweeted the night before that Tesla investors might get preferential treatment to buy shares of SpaceX-owned Starlink if SpaceX eventually decides to spin off the satellite internet service in a few years.\nSo even though Tesla's stock is still in the red this year, shares have quickly clawed back much of their 2021 losses after a more than 12% surge in the past five days.\nTesla is nothing if not volatile.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":351,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":180259126,"gmtCreate":1623207735765,"gmtModify":1704198381084,"author":{"id":"3581741175905126","authorId":"3581741175905126","name":"sk5735","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/119fc82bddd3291f8c7e303167676732","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581741175905126","idStr":"3581741175905126"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Sad","listText":"Sad","text":"Sad","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/180259126","repostId":"2142299762","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":374,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":814041189,"gmtCreate":1630732672741,"gmtModify":1676530387466,"author":{"id":"3581741175905126","authorId":"3581741175905126","name":"sk5735","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/119fc82bddd3291f8c7e303167676732","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581741175905126","idStr":"3581741175905126"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/814041189","repostId":"2164803577","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":345,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":176493393,"gmtCreate":1626911112412,"gmtModify":1703480285573,"author":{"id":"3581741175905126","authorId":"3581741175905126","name":"sk5735","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/119fc82bddd3291f8c7e303167676732","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581741175905126","idStr":"3581741175905126"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hope can bounce back higher this time","listText":"Hope can bounce back higher this time","text":"Hope can bounce back higher this time","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/176493393","repostId":"1161684365","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1161684365","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1626875527,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1161684365?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-21 21:52","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Chinese EV stocks bounced","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1161684365","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(July 21) $XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$ , $Li Auto(LI)$ rose nearly 6%, $NIO Inc.(NIO)$ gained more than 2%, $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ fell 0.23%.","content":"
(July 21) XPeng Inc. , Li Auto rose nearly 6%, NIO Inc. gained more than 2%, Tesla Motors fell 0.23%.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
