The reforms, if finalized, would affect the largest companies in the world with profit margins of at least 10%.Looking ahead, the G-7 hopes to achieve a wider agreement on the new tax proposals next month at a gathering of the expanded G-20 finance ministers.Asked whetherAmazonandFacebookwould be among the companies targeted by the proposal, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said she believes they would \"qualify by almost any definition.\"Here's how America's tech giants reacted to the news:AmazonAmazon said the agreement \"marks a welcome step forward\" in efforts to \"bring stability to the international tax system.\"\"We hope to see discussions continue to advance with the broader G20 and Inclusive Framework alliance,\" an Amazon spokesperson told CNBC by email.FacebookNick Clegg, Facebook's vice president for global affairs, welcomed the G-7 deal and said the social networking giant \"has long called for reform of the global tax rules.\"The agreement is a \"significant first step towards certainty for businesses and strengthening public confidence in the global tax system,\" Clegg tweeted Saturday.\"We want the international tax reform process to succeed and recognize this could mean Facebook paying more tax, and in different places.\"GoogleA spokesperson forGoogletold Sky Newsthat the company strongly supported the initiative and hoped for a \"balanced and durable\" agreement.Applewasn't immediately available for a comment on the G-7 agreement when contacted by CNBC.The tech tax debateTech giants have long been criticized for paying little in taxes despite their size. Amazon and other companies have been accused of avoiding tax by shifting revenue and profits through tax havens or low-tax countries. The companies insist they’re doing nothing wrong from a legal standpoint, which is why policymakers are calling for reforms.Amazon infamously paid no U.S. federal income tax in 2018, despite booking more than $11 billion in profits. The low tax bill stemmed largely from tax cuts in 2017, carryforward losses from years when the company wasn’t profitable, and tax credits for massive research and development investment and share-based employee compensation. Some countries, such as Britain, France and Italy, have introduced a digital services tax in an effort to rake in more cash from large tech firms. The aim was to implement a solution for the interim while global officials hash out details for international tax rules. But this has led to friction with the United States, which under President Donald Trump’s administration threatened to impose tariffs on French goods over the issue.Meanwhile, some analysts have argued the dealdoesn’t go far enough, while others said there was a long road ahead.George Dibb, head of the Centre for Economic Justice at the London-based Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), described the deal as a “major step forward,” but said there were still “big questions” surrounding the minimum tax level.“We would like to see something a lot closer to 25%,” he told CNBC Monday.“The Biden administration came into these negotiations with an opening offer of 21% but I think the big fight at the G-7 over Friday and Saturday was over the wording, about whether it would say ’15%′ or ‘at least 15%’ and because we have that wording now of ‘at least 15%’ the door is still open for negotiation,” he told Squawk Box Europe.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":201,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":114280881,"gmtCreate":1623075340443,"gmtModify":1704195577721,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Really good stock","listText":"Really good stock","text":"Really good stock","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/845bbb61e7a3a935282324e0e00c53b4","width":"720","height":"2023"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/114280881","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":77,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":114215630,"gmtCreate":1623075274920,"gmtModify":1704195572779,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Apple(AAPL)$sick","listText":"$Apple(AAPL)$sick","text":"$Apple(AAPL)$sick","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/636b32b1b2dc1c2c6445a00d0b50434f","width":"720","height":"1280"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/114215630","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":232,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":116451413,"gmtCreate":1622816551032,"gmtModify":1704191815966,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice ","listText":"Nice ","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/116451413","repostId":"2140406291","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":251,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":116451413,"gmtCreate":1622816551032,"gmtModify":1704191815966,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice ","listText":"Nice ","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/116451413","repostId":"2140406291","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2140406291","pubTimestamp":1622815802,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2140406291?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-04 22:10","market":"us","language":"en","title":"2 Tech Stocks to Buy During the Next Crypto Crash","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2140406291","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"MercadoLibre and Square could help investors capitalize on dips in the crypto market.","content":"
Crypto investors have been hit hard in recent weeks. The top two tokens -- Bitcoin and Ethereum -- have fallen 40% and 35% from their highs, respectively. And nearly $1 trillion has been erased from the crypto market since the beginning of May.
\n
Even so, now looks like a good time for Bitcoin-believers to pick up a few shares of MercadoLibre (NASDAQ:MELI) and Square (NYSE:SQ). Both fintechs stand to benefit as cryptocurrency becomes more popular, and market downturns are often a buying opportunity in hindsight. Here's what investors should know.
\n
MercadoLibre
\n
MercadoLibre operates the leading e-commerce marketplace and digital payments platform in Latin America, with a presence in 18 different countries.
\n
\n
Over the years, MercadoLibre has slowly integrated crypto into its ecosystem. In 2015, the company started allowing users in Mexico to make purchases with Bitcoin, a decision that was driven by demand from both consumers and merchants.
\n
Then in 2018, the company partnered with BitPay in Brazil, enabling crypto-powered purchases of MercadoLibre gift cards from within the BitPay wallet. Those gift cards can be used to shop on the marketplace or to fund a Mercado Pago account.
\n
More recently, MercadoLibre purchased $7.8 million in Bitcoin for its balance sheet. During the Q1 earnings call CFO Pedro Arnt noted two reasons for this: First, it's part of the company's treasury strategy, as management believes Bitcoin is a good long-term store of value. Second, this allows MercadoLibre to \"quickly [move] up the learning curve in terms of understanding crypto,\" which will allow it to capitalize on future opportunities as they arise.
\n
In April 2021, MercadoLibre doubled down on crypto, launching a new real-estate platform that only accepts payment in Bitcoin. Within hours of the launch, 75 properties were available and the company expects that figure to grow over time.
\n
All of these moves underscore the company's growing interest in cryptocurrency. More importantly, each step has been met with enthusiasm from consumers and merchants.
\n
While it's impossible to identify the precise impact of cryptocurrency, MercadoLibre's business has grown quickly since introducing Bitcoin as a payment option in 2015.
\n
\n
\n
\n

Metric

\n

2015

\n

Q1 2021 (TTM)

\n

CAGR

\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

Revenue

\n

$651.8 million

\n

$4.7 billion

\n

46%

\n
\n
\n

Free Cash Flow

\n

$157.1 million

\n

$682.9 million

\n

32%

\n
\n
\n
\n
Source: MercadoLibre SEC Filings. TTM = trailing-12-months. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.
\n
Notably, Amazon is one of MercadoLibre's largest competitors in Latin America, but it doesn't have a digital wallet to rival Mercado Pago. That gives MercadoLibre an advantage, and its growing acceptance of cryptocurrency furthers that advantage.
\n
That's why MercadoLibre should be at the top of your watchlist, especially during downturns in the crypto market. If crypto disappears completely, MercadoLibre will be fine -- it will still have a thriving online marketplace and digital payments ecosystem. But if crypto rebounds (as it has in the past), it could drive more consumers and merchants to MercadoLibre's crypto-friendly platforms.
\n
Square
\n
Square divides its business into two parts: the seller ecosystem and the Cash App ecosystem. The former provides merchants with the hardware, software, and services they need to start and manage a business, while the latter provides consumers with financial tools that help them to send, spend, and invest money.
\n
\n
In January 2018, Square started allowing Cash App consumers to trade Bitcoin. In hindsight, that move was a stroke of genius. Monthly active users skyrocketed from 7 million in 2017 to 36 million by the end 2020 -- a compound annual growth rate of 72%.
\n
To add, as Bitcoin soared 300% last year, the positive impacts on Square's business became even more pronounced. During 2020, more than 3 million consumers traded Bitcoin through Cash App, driving engagement with other services as well, like the Square Cash Card and direct deposit. As a result, Cash App gross profit skyrocketed 168% last year, reaching $1.2 billion.
\n
\n
\n
\n

Metric

\n

2017

\n

2020

\n

CAGR

\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

Seller Gross Profit

\n

$777 million

\n

$1.5 billion

\n

25%

\n
\n
\n

Cash App Gross Profit

\n

$47 million

\n

$1.2 billion

\n

196%

\n
\n
\n
\n
Source: Square SEC Filings. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.
\n
Here's the big picture: As Bitcoin has become more popular, Cash App has become more profitable. The top two tokens -- Bitcoin and Ethereum -- have fallen 40% and 35% from their highs, respectively. And nearly $1 trillion has been erased from the crypto market since the beginning of May.\nEven so, now looks like a good time for Bitcoin-believers to pick up a few shares of MercadoLibre (NASDAQ:MELI) and Square (NYSE:SQ). Both fintechs stand to benefit as cryptocurrency becomes more popular, and market downturns are often a buying opportunity in hindsight. Here's what investors should know. \nMercadoLibre\nMercadoLibre operates the leading e-commerce marketplace and digital payments platform in Latin America, with a presence in 18 different countries.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nOver the years, MercadoLibre has slowly integrated crypto into its ecosystem. In 2015, the company started allowing users in Mexico to make purchases with Bitcoin, a decision that was driven by demand from both consumers and merchants.\nThen in 2018, the company partnered with BitPay in Brazil, enabling crypto-powered purchases of MercadoLibre gift cards from within the BitPay wallet. Those gift cards can be used to shop on the marketplace or to fund a Mercado Pago account.\nMore recently, MercadoLibre purchased $7.8 million in Bitcoin for its balance sheet. During the Q1 earnings call CFO Pedro Arnt noted two reasons for this: First, it's part of the company's treasury strategy, as management believes Bitcoin is a good long-term store of value. Second, this allows MercadoLibre to \"quickly [move] up the learning curve in terms of understanding crypto,\" which will allow it to capitalize on future opportunities as they arise.\nIn April 2021, MercadoLibre doubled down on crypto, launching a new real-estate platform that only accepts payment in Bitcoin. Within hours of the launch, 75 properties were available and the company expects that figure to grow over time.\nAll of these moves underscore the company's growing interest in cryptocurrency. More importantly, each step has been met with enthusiasm from consumers and merchants.\nWhile it's impossible to identify the precise impact of cryptocurrency, MercadoLibre's business has grown quickly since introducing Bitcoin as a payment option in 2015.\n\n\n\nMetric\n2015\nQ1 2021 (TTM)\nCAGR\n\n\n\n\nRevenue\n$651.8 million\n$4.7 billion\n46%\n\n\nFree Cash Flow\n$157.1 million\n$682.9 million\n32%\n\n\n\nSource: MercadoLibre SEC Filings. TTM = trailing-12-months. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.\nNotably, Amazon is one of MercadoLibre's largest competitors in Latin America, but it doesn't have a digital wallet to rival Mercado Pago. That gives MercadoLibre an advantage, and its growing acceptance of cryptocurrency furthers that advantage.\nThat's why MercadoLibre should be at the top of your watchlist, especially during downturns in the crypto market. If crypto disappears completely, MercadoLibre will be fine -- it will still have a thriving online marketplace and digital payments ecosystem. But if crypto rebounds (as it has in the past), it could drive more consumers and merchants to MercadoLibre's crypto-friendly platforms.\nSquare\nSquare divides its business into two parts: the seller ecosystem and the Cash App ecosystem. The former provides merchants with the hardware, software, and services they need to start and manage a business, while the latter provides consumers with financial tools that help them to send, spend, and invest money.\nImage source: Square.\nIn January 2018, Square started allowing Cash App consumers to trade Bitcoin. In hindsight, that move was a stroke of genius. Monthly active users skyrocketed from 7 million in 2017 to 36 million by the end 2020 -- a compound annual growth rate of 72%.\nTo add, as Bitcoin soared 300% last year, the positive impacts on Square's business became even more pronounced. During 2020, more than 3 million consumers traded Bitcoin through Cash App, driving engagement with other services as well, like the Square Cash Card and direct deposit. As a result, Cash App gross profit skyrocketed 168% last year, reaching $1.2 billion.\n\n\n\nMetric\n2017\n2020\nCAGR\n\n\n\n\nSeller Gross Profit\n$777 million\n$1.5 billion\n25%\n\n\nCash App Gross Profit\n$47 million\n$1.2 billion\n196%\n\n\n\nSource: Square SEC Filings. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.\nHere's the big picture: As Bitcoin has become more popular, Cash App has become more profitable. But the seller ecosystem has also delivered strong results, especially when you consider the pandemic-related headwinds (i.e. many brick-and-mortar retailers closed their doors during 2020).\nThat's why investors should consider buying this fintech stock, especially during dips in Bitcoin's price. For leisure and travel stocks like Airbnb that got slammed by pandemic shutdowns, the lifting of Covid curbs means adjusting to a whole new world.

Some tastes people acquired last year as they looked for escapes from lockdown are proving durable, like traveling to national parks by RV. Others, such as boating, grew out of surges in wealth that the stock market rally provided. As the summer travel season heats up, Americans are making new choices in where they go, when they go, how they get there and who joins them.

\"The world is never going back to the way it was,\" said Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky on an earnings call in May. \"And that means that travel is never going back to the way it was either.\"

One major trend is travelers have become more flexible about when and where they go, especially as remote work allows people to blur when they are on and off the clock. Airbnb stock rose May 24, when the company updated booking features, including an option to search for listings without fixed dates or locations.

And consumers aren't the only ones changing their habits. While tourism-dependent destinations suffered last year, the less-packed streets also showed locals the benefits of quieter communities.

Residents and local officials in normally packed hot spots like Italy and Hawaii are considering limiting the number of tourists. Such a seismic change could make visiting these places prohibitively expensive for many people. If the mix of travelers tilts more heavily toward the wealthy, travel stocks will nudge further toward luxury.

Leisure, Travel Industry Stocks

Shares across the sector have rebounded from last year's pandemic lows. The stocks' recent chart action is mixed. But many travel stocks have outperformed the market the past week and could present buying opportunities for investors.

Airline stocks like American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines surged earlier this year on the Reddit stock short squeeze. Then they sold off because business and overseas travel remained weak. Since then, they've consolidated and are approaching buy points.

Cruise stocks like Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line are showing similar patterns.

Meanwhile, shares of boat makers MarineMax and Brunswick as well as RV makers Winnebago and Thor Industries need to regroup after some failed breakouts. They are no longer in buy zones but could form new bases if earnings and sales growth remain strong.

Hotel leader Marriott has been less volatile and is forming a base, though earnings and sales have yet to fully recover.

Airbnb stock has had a more difficult year. It surged after going public in December but began to slump in March as competition from Expedia rival Vrbo rental service reduced the availability of hosts. A mixed Q1 earnings report and the end of a post-IPO lockup period also weighed on Airbnb stock, which popped up 6% Thursday on higher volume but remained 35% off its 2021 high.

When Luxury Means More Privacy

Luxury travel, once the purview of only the ultrarich, may have won over those who might have had the means but not the need to travel lavishly. As travelers sought to avoid crowds during the pandemic, those with the means turned to options like private jets.

Arnie Weissman, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly, says the pandemic opened luxury travel to a wider customer base. \"Some people developed a taste for it, and it's likely to continue.\"

Kim-Marie Evans, who writes the blog \"Luxury Travel Moms\" and plans travel for high-net-worth clients, told IBD she booked a trip for a family to Anguilla.

They stayed in a four-bedroom villa at the Four Seasons. And rather than flying commercially, they used a private jet service.

Private jet bookings are at or near their pre-pandemic highs, according to Elite Traveler, citing industry tracker FlightAware's data.

In May, private jet company Wheels Up said membership jumped 58% in Q1 to nearly 10,000. And VistaJet, another leading private jet company, said membership climbed 29% from a year ago.

Private jet leasing company NetJets, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, says its flight volume dropped to as low as 10% of 2019 numbers at the start of the pandemic.

Now the company, which also offers fractional ownership of its jets, says it's operating at 85% of its 2019 volume. NetJets said in a statement that commercial airlines have reduced their schedules. Consumers also are prioritizing their health and safety, choosing the seclusion of a private jet over a packed jetliner.

Vacation Shift Favors These Travel Stocks

Hotel chains implemented stringent Covid-19 protocols to convince visitors their properties were clean and safe. Still, many travelers opted to rent private homes through Airbnb, where they could avoid mingling with strangers in hotel lobbies, Weismann says.

Travel trends favor Airbnb stock long term, though it currently is slumping. On May 27, analysts at RBC Capital Markets rated shares at outperform, citing secular tailwinds that have yet to be fully appreciated by the market such as its dominant customer engagement.

The pandemic also shed light on the market potential of travel stocks like Marriott, which operates home-rental service Homes & Villas by Marriott International, catering to ultra premium short- and long-term stays, CFRA Research analyst Tuna Amobi says.

The Homes & Villas platform, which offers professionally managed private homes, had around 2,000 units at launch less than two years ago. Today, it lists nearly 25,000 properties.

\"They're where we don't have hotels, and many of them are in more remote locations, which really was quite attractive during Covid,\" said Marriott International President Stephanie Linnartz in a recent call with investors.

Airbnb also finds that customers are visiting smaller cities, towns and rural communities — not the same 20-30 cities that were most popular pre-pandemic. People are traveling outside the peak seasons and staying longer.

\"There is a mass shift from mass travel to meaningful travel,\" CEO Chesky said.

Seaworthy Travel Stocks

Luxury cruising should also come back with a bang. Nearly every cruise line's around-the-world luxury voyage is fully booked two years in advance.

One cruise line, Silversea, said its 139-day around-the-world cruise sold out in a single day. The Monaco-based cruise line is owned by Royal Caribbean. The cruise costs between $74,000 and $278,000 per guest, based on double occupancy. That compares with typical fares that start at $15,000-$20,000.

But others heading out to sea want to avoid crowded ships, which have seen outbreaks of coronavirus and other infections. The National Marine Manufacturers Association says new powerboat sales surged 34% in February compared to the same time period last year.

\"Inventory levels of new boats are the leanest they've ever been, and boats are being sold as soon as they hit the marketplace as manufacturers work to fulfill the backlog of orders,\" said Vicky Yu, senior director of business intelligence for NMMA. \"While new boat sales slowed in early 2021 following record sales last year, we are still seeing elevated levels as more Americans seek out boating as a way to spend quality time with loved ones.\"

The trend has pushed up leisure and travel stocks like boat retailers MarineMax and Brunswick as well as sport boat maker Malibu Boats.

\"It's really turning out to be a great alternative for people to stay close to home and with their family and friends and enjoy the boating lifestyle,\" MarineMax CFO Michael McLamb said in a conference call after reporting earnings April 22.

Travel Stocks For Being Alone Together

The desire to spend more time with friends and family is also spurring RV sales. They exploded in popularity during the pandemic, and sales data this year show demand remains high.

\"The rediscovery of America will continue this summer,\" Weissman said.

The pandemic accelerated long-term trends favoring the outdoors, Winnebago CEO Michael Happe said in a March earnings call. That includes power sports, boating and RVs.

Consumer priorities have changed, he added, toward a desire to invest in experiences vs. possessions.

\"We also believe the time (spent) recently with family and friends has reinforced that they'd like to do more of that in the future,\" Happe said. \"And families and individuals will be reevaluating how they spend their leisure time going forward.\"

Airbnb pointed to another sign of this trend among leisure and travel stocks. Instead of booking studio apartments in cities, more customers are booking entire homes with more bedrooms. As a result, the number of guests per reservation has increased.

Work-Life Rebalance

As people pay closer attention to their well-being post-Covid, another trend to watch is high-end wellness tourism with a focus on fitness, rejuvenation and health, Weissman says. That includes yoga and spa getaways as well as packages that offer cycling and hiking activities.

Meanwhile, the work-from-home shift allowed people to rethink other aspects of their lifestyle. In particular, they can try to balance work, leisure and travel differently.

Wedbush analyst James Hardiman says \"2020 was proof of concept that people can be productive, even more productive, while working remotely.\"

Airbnb says the share of bookings longer than 28 days jumped to 24% in Q1 from 14% in 2019. The company doesn't consider this travel.

\"People are not just traveling on Airbnb,\" Chesky said. \"They're now living on Airbnb.\"

Future Of Business Travel?

That also has implications for business travel, which is the most lucrative segment for travel stocks like airlines.

Experts say fewer workers may fly for one-day intracompany meetings. However, more crucial business will still require people to fly for in-person meetings.

When it's time to show up in person, Airbnb expects workers will travel together more often. That trend also has ramifications for Airbnb stock and others. Employees who work in different cities might stay in one house when they visit headquarters. They could share meals together at the kitchen table in the morning or evening.

That may be a welcome change for road warriors, who pop in an out of cities and squeeze in sightseeing along the way.

\"They don't miss business travel,\" Chesky said. \"They don't miss standing in line in front of a museum or a landmark … getting a photo with a selfie stick.\"
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
The Pandemic May Have Changed Vacations – And Travel Stocks Like Airbnb, Marriott, Winnebago – Forever
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThe Pandemic May Have Changed Vacations – And Travel Stocks Like Airbnb, Marriott, Winnebago – Forever\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Investors
\n
2021-05-28 23:30
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
Your next vacation will likely be more private, luxurious or family oriented than your trips in the past, and business trips may never be the same. The S&P 500 declined 0.4% to 4,192.85 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 1% to 13,614.51.The benchmark S&P 500 sits about 1% from its all-time high reached earlier last month, but it has been stuck around these levels for about the last two weeks. The S&P 500 is up more than 11% this year so far.Merck and Dow Inc. were the two best performers in the 30-stock benchmark, both rising more than 2%. Consumer staples and utilities were the biggest gainers among 11 S&P 500 sectors, while consumer discretionary and tech weighed on the broader market, falling 1.2% and 0.9%, respectively.Shares of General Motors climbed nearly 6.4% after the company said it expects its results for the first half of 2021 to be “significantly better” than its prior guidance. On the data front, private job growth for May accelerated at its fastest pace in nearly a year as companies hired nearly a million workers, according to a report Thursday from payroll processing firm ADP.Total hires came to 978,000 for the month, a big jump from April’s 654,000 and the largest gain since June 2020. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for 680,000.Meanwhile,first-time claims for unemployment benefitsfor the week ended May 29 totaled 385,000, versus a Dow Jones estimate of 393,000. It also marked the first time that jobless claims fell below 400,000 since the early days of the pandemic.“With ADP knocking it out of the park, and jobless claims breaking that 400k barrier—a pandemic low—all eyes will be on the larger jobs picture tomorrow,” said Mike Loewengart, a managing director at E-Trade. “With seemingly all systems go on the jobs front, the economy is flashing some very real signs that this isn’t just a comeback—expansion mode could be on the horizon.”The market may be on hold before the release of the jobs report Friday, which is likely to show an additional 671,000 nonfarm payrolls in May, according to economists polled by Dow Jones. The economy added 266,000 jobs in April.Investors continued to monitor the wild action in meme stocks, particularly theater chain AMC Entertainment. The stock tumbled as much as 30% after practically doubling in the prior session, but shares cut losses after movie theater chain said it completed a stock offering launched just hours ago, raising $587 million. The stock ended the day about 18% lower.Other meme stocks also came under pressure Thursday. Bed Bath & Beyond fell more than 27%. The SoFi Social 50 ETF (SFYF), which tracks the top 50 most widely held U.S. listed stocks on SoFi’s retail brokerage platform, tumbled more than 6%.Reminiscent of what occurred earlier this year, retail traders rallying together on Reddit triggered a short squeeze in AMC earlier this week. On Wednesday, short-sellers betting against the stock lost $2.8 billion as the shares surged, according to S3 Partners. That brings their year-to-date losses to more than $5 billion, according to S3. Short sellers are forced to buy back the stock to cut their losses when it keeps rallying like this. The meme stock bubble in GameStop earlier this year weighed on the market a bit as investors worried it meant too much speculative activity was in the stock market. As losses in hedge funds betting against the stock mounted, worries increased about a pullback in risk-taking across Wall Street that could hit the overall market. The Invesco Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF (IBBQ) and Invesco PHLX Semiconductor ETF (SOXQ) will effectively cost nothing during that time, after which each will carry an expense ratio of 19 basis points.
\n
Issuers across the $6.4 trillion ETF industry have been battling to have the lowest cost offerings for years in a bid to capture assets as the total number of funds surpasses 2,400. Fool","summary":"The long-term prospects look much brighter for these great companies.","content":"
There's a good reason why AMC Entertainment ranks as the third most popular stock for Robinhood investors. Shares of the theater chain have skyrocketed more than 2,500% so far this year. Most of those gains have come over the last few weeks.

Investors are deluding themselves if they think that kind of momentum for AMC is sustainable. However, there are other popular Robinhood stocks that do have attractive growth prospects. Here are three Robinhood stocks that could make you a lot richer than AMC will going forward.

Facebook

Don't believe for one second that lots of people have thrown in the towel on Facebook (NASDAQ:FB). The social media giant's number of monthly active users has continued to climb, topping 2.85 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, the number of frequent moviegoers -- AMC's prime customers -- was slipping in 2019 before anyone had ever heard of COVID-19.

Facebook is working hard to build a trillion-dollar empire. One key component of this effort is to continue attracting users to its social media platforms so that it can sell more ads. However, the company isn't just focused on social media. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted three areas in Facebook's Q1 update that could be massive growth drivers in the future -- augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), commerce, and the \"creator economy.\"

The company is already a leader in VR with its Oculus devices. Facebook and Ray-Ban have first-generation AR smart glasses on the way. It's also developing new devices including haptic gloves plus a virtual world called Horizon. Zuckerberg thinks that AR and VR will \"unlock a massive amount of value\" over time.

As for e-commerce, more than 1 billion people already visit Facebook Marketplace each month. Facebook recently launched Shops, an online storefront platform that has more than 250 million monthly visitors. The company is also developing a platform and tools that support the creator economy, including options for content creators to monetize their offerings.

Moderna

Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) stands as one of the key reasons why AMC could see its fortunes improve in 2021. The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna has been given to millions of Americans and remains one of only three vaccines to secure U.S. Emergency Use Authorization so far.

As of its Q1 update in early May, Moderna had advanced purchase agreements in place for its COVID-19 vaccine totaling more than $19 billion. Since then, the company has picked up additional supply deals.

Moderna seems likely to make even more money next year than it will in 2021. Beyond 2022, the company anticipates that emerging coronavirus variants will result in the need for annual vaccinations.

But is all of this growth already priced into the biotech stock? Nope. Moderna's shares currently trade at only nine times expected earnings. With plenty of other pipeline candidates based on its messenger RNA technology potentially on the way, Moderna could easily make investors who hold on for the long run much richer.

Square

Like AMC, Square (NYSE:SQ) should directly benefit from the reopening of the U.S. economy. The company's seller ecosystem serves many small and medium-sized businesses that were hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Square will likely be in a position to offer these business customers even more value going forward. It plans to introduce business checking and savings accounts, according to a recent Bloomberg report. This move isn't surprising, as Square hasn't made a secret of its desire to transition into banking services.

The company's biggest growth driver, though, is its Cash App ecosystem. Shares of the theater chain have skyrocketed more than 2,500% so far this year. Most of those gains have come over the last few weeks.Investors are deluding themselves if they think that kind of momentum for AMC is sustainable. However, there are other popular Robinhood stocks that do have attractive growth prospects. Here are three Robinhood stocks that could make you a lot richer than AMC will going forward.Image source: Getty Images.FacebookDon't believe for one second that lots of people have thrown in the towel on Facebook (NASDAQ:FB). The social media giant's number of monthly active users has continued to climb, topping 2.85 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, the number of frequent moviegoers -- AMC's prime customers -- was slipping in 2019 before anyone had ever heard of COVID-19.Facebook is working hard to build a trillion-dollar empire. One key component of this effort is to continue attracting users to its social media platforms so that it can sell more ads. However, the company isn't just focused on social media. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted three areas in Facebook's Q1 update that could be massive growth drivers in the future -- augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), commerce, and the \"creator economy.\"The company is already a leader in VR with its Oculus devices. Facebook and Ray-Ban have first-generation AR smart glasses on the way. It's also developing new devices including haptic gloves plus a virtual world called Horizon. Zuckerberg thinks that AR and VR will \"unlock a massive amount of value\" over time.As for e-commerce, more than 1 billion people already visit Facebook Marketplace each month. Facebook recently launched Shops, an online storefront platform that has more than 250 million monthly visitors. The company is also developing a platform and tools that support the creator economy, including options for content creators to monetize their offerings.ModernaModerna (NASDAQ:MRNA) stands as one of the key reasons why AMC could see its fortunes improve in 2021. The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna has been given to millions of Americans and remains one of only three vaccines to secure U.S. Emergency Use Authorization so far.As of its Q1 update in early May, Moderna had advanced purchase agreements in place for its COVID-19 vaccine totaling more than $19 billion. Since then, the company has picked up additional supply deals.Moderna seems likely to make even more money next year than it will in 2021. Beyond 2022, the company anticipates that emerging coronavirus variants will result in the need for annual vaccinations.But is all of this growth already priced into the biotech stock? Nope. Moderna's shares currently trade at only nine times expected earnings. With plenty of other pipeline candidates based on its messenger RNA technology potentially on the way, Moderna could easily make investors who hold on for the long run much richer.SquareLike AMC, Square (NYSE:SQ) should directly benefit from the reopening of the U.S. economy. The company's seller ecosystem serves many small and medium-sized businesses that were hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.Square will likely be in a position to offer these business customers even more value going forward. It plans to introduce business checking and savings accounts, according to a recent Bloomberg report. This move isn't surprising, as Square hasn't made a secret of its desire to transition into banking services.The company's biggest growth driver, though, is its Cash App ecosystem. Cash App currently supports a wide range of features, including peer-to-peer payments, a credit card, and buying and selling stocks and Bitcoin.Probably the biggest knock against Square is its valuation. The stock trades at more than 150 times expected earnings. That valuation is still more attractive than AMC's, though. More importantly, the shift to a cashless society seems unstoppable. Square's growth prospects for both its seller and Cash App ecosystems make a premium price worth paying.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":201,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":139705467,"gmtCreate":1621654587359,"gmtModify":1704361116821,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice ","listText":"Nice ","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/139705467","repostId":"2137773902","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":335,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":150918777,"gmtCreate":1624881618299,"gmtModify":1703846900514,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice ","listText":"Nice ","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/150918777","repostId":"1150627164","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":485,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":122124341,"gmtCreate":1624605959983,"gmtModify":1703841559321,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Cloudflare, Inc.(NET)$nicee","listText":"$Cloudflare, Inc.(NET)$nicee","text":"$Cloudflare, Inc.(NET)$nicee","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cc75ca33c31aa5a6099ea880c7b9f559","width":"720","height":"1280"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/122124341","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":244,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":161048351,"gmtCreate":1623898001173,"gmtModify":1703822947959,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Salesforce.com(CRM)$ nice ","listText":"$Salesforce.com(CRM)$ nice ","text":"$Salesforce.com(CRM)$ nice","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e246e7aec5279f3c1c1a361d9846375b","width":"720","height":"1280"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/161048351","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":371,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":181323552,"gmtCreate":1623374899376,"gmtModify":1704201956897,"author":{"id":"3582271196387788","authorId":"3582271196387788","name":"kmt112","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/00dc7a3a740685f9f617531e6aeb5d21","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582271196387788","authorIdStr":"3582271196387788"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice ","listText":"Nice ","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/181323552","repostId":"1127823989","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":168,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
