Buffett isn't infallible, but he's delivered an annual average return of 20% since the mid-1960s for his shareholders. In aggregate, we're talking about a return of more than 2,800,000%!</p>\n<p>What's even more amazing is that Buffett hasn't done anything the average investors couldn't do to net these huge gains. He focuses on a few sectors and industries that interest him, buys companies with clear-cut competitive advantages, and most importantly hangs onto those stakes for a very long time.</p>\n<p>Another source of Buffett's success is concentration. The Oracle of Omaha doesn't believe diversification is necessary if you know what you're doing. This is readily apparent in Berkshire Hathaway's $302.6 billion investment portfolio. As of this past weekend, 85% of Berkshire's invested assets ($257.3 billion) were tied up in only 10 stocks.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/601f21f3cc2f9e5524bd5d613063faa2\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Apple: $115.6 billion</h2>\n<p>Tech kingpin <b>Apple</b> (NASDAQ:AAPL) makes up about 38% of Warren Buffett's portfolio by itself and has been dubbed \"Berkshire's third business\" by the Oracle of Omaha. Apple offers some of the strongest branding in the world, is the clear leader in smartphones in the U.S., and has been pivoting to higher-margin services under the leadership of CEO Tim Cook. Though iPhone sales remain Apple's top product, services becoming a larger percentage of total sales will help remove the revenue lumpiness associated with new product launches.</p>\n<h2>2. Bank of America: $43.2 billion</h2>\n<p>Bank stocks have long been Buffett's favorite place to put Berkshire's money work. <b>Bank of America</b> (NYSE:BAC) is Berkshire's unquestioned largest bank holding, with more than 14% of invested assets. Bank of America has done an excellent job of controlling its noninterest expenses by consolidating branches and emphasizing digital banking. It's also in line to benefit more than any other money-center bank from an eventual rise in interest rates.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ed3e6a16841306014bf0cfc3b1697b23\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: American <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/EXPR\">Express</a>.</span></p>\n<h2>3. American Express: $24.9 billion</h2>\n<p>Payment processor and lender <b>American Express</b> (NYSE:AXP) is Buffett's third-largest and third-longest-held stock. After 28 years of holding AmEx, Berkshire Hathaway's position has grown to almost $25 billion in value. This is a cyclical company that benefits from long periods of economic expansion, as well as its ability to attract affluent clientele. These well-to-do clients are less likely to change their spending habits when economic hiccups arise, which often means less worry about credit delinquencies for AmEx.</p>\n<h2>4. Coca-Cola: $22.5 billion</h2>\n<p>Speaking of long-tenured holdings, beverage behemoth <b>Coca-Cola</b> (NYSE:KO) is the longest-held stock in Buffett's portfolio (33 years). Coca-Cola operates in all but two countries worldwide (North Korea and Cuba) and has more than 20 brands generating at least $1 billion in annual sales. Thanks to its top-notch marketing team, it's also the best-known consumer goods brand. Coke has holiday tie-ins, has allied itself with well-known brand ambassadors, and is embracing digital advertising and social media as a way to get its message to a younger generation.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cc21d6aabfd53f63ded95ae16cbd64e1\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"468\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>5. Kraft Heinz: $14.1 billion</h2>\n<p>There's little question that <b>Kraft Heinz</b> (NASDAQ:KHC) is the oddball holding in Buffett's top 10. That's because Buffett admits to Heinz overpaying for Kraft Foods, and the combined company largely underperforming in recent years. This includes a greater than $15 billion goodwill writedown in 2019. While the pandemic has helped boost demand for packaged foods, Kraft Heinz's balance sheet is still bogged down by high debt levels and goodwill. In short, Berkshire Hathaway is sort of stuck with its 325.6 million shares.</p>\n<h2>6. Verizon Communications: $9.1 billion</h2>\n<p>Telecommunications giant <b>Verizon</b> (NYSE:VZ) is a fairly recent addition to Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio, although it's been bought hand over fist in the previous two quarters by Buffett and his team. The lure of Verizon is likely its 4.4% dividend yield, which is arguably <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of the safest high-yield payouts on the planet. What's more, Verizon should benefit immensely from the rollout of 5G infrastructure. It's been a decade since the last major upgrade to download speeds, which suggests that a multiyear tech upgrade cycle will lead to higher-margin data consumption.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7343c3ce7330b86321a8ec9384d4baea\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>7. U.S. Bancorp: $8.7 billion</h2>\n<p>Next to BofA, <b>U.S. Bancorp</b> (NYSE:USB) is Buffett's favorite bank stock. It's a company that regularly trades at a premium to its book value -- and for good reason. U.S. Bancorp has seen its users embrace technology, with the percentage of consumer loans completed digitally skyrocketing over the past two years. Being able to consolidate its physical branches, while also avoiding riskier derivative investments that have gotten U.S. money-center banks in trouble, has helped U.S. Bancorp to some of the highest return on assets among big banks.</p>\n<h2>8. Moody's: $8.5 billion</h2>\n<p>Credit agency and analytics company <b>Moody's</b> (NYSE:MCO) is yet another top-10 holding that's been held for longer than two decades. With an initial cost basis of just over $10, Berkshire Hathaway is sitting on an unrealized gain of better than 3,300% -- and this isn't accounting for dividends. Historically low lending rates have kept Moody's credit rating segment busy, while volatile trading markets are boosting demand for Moody's analytics. It's hard to envision Buffett ever selling this stake.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8abdae403dddfa42107e06ea5bfddf39\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>9. BYD: $6.2 billion</h2>\n<p>Back in 2008, Buffett acquired 225 million shares of China-based electric-vehicle (EV) manufacturer <b>BYD</b> (OTC:BYDDY)&nbsp;for $1.03 a share (it closed this past week at $27.65 a share). In March, BYD sold 16,301 EVs, which is more than higher-profile competitors <b>NIO</b>&nbsp;and <b>XPeng</b>&nbsp;delivered on a combined basis in the same month. With the Society of Automotive Engineers of China forecasting that half of all new vehicles sales in 2035 will be powered by alternative energy, BYD is in pole position to disrupt the largest auto market in the world.</p>\n<h2>10. DaVita: $4.4 billion</h2>\n<p>Rounding out the top 10 is kidney dialysis services company <b>DaVita</b> (NYSE:DVA). Buffett's fascination with the company is likely a numbers play. Over time, an aging U.S. population is going to become more reliant on kidney dialysis services for maintenance purposes. As the clear leader in providing these services, DaVita should see a steady uptick in demand and reimbursement for its services. In aggregate, we're talking about a return of more than 2,800,000%!\nWhat's even more amazing is that Buffett hasn't done anything the average investors couldn't do to net these huge gains. He focuses on a few sectors and industries that interest him, buys companies with clear-cut competitive advantages, and most importantly hangs onto those stakes for a very long time.\nAnother source of Buffett's success is concentration. The Oracle of Omaha doesn't believe diversification is necessary if you know what you're doing. This is readily apparent in Berkshire Hathaway's $302.6 billion investment portfolio. Apple: $115.6 billion\nTech kingpin Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) makes up about 38% of Warren Buffett's portfolio by itself and has been dubbed \"Berkshire's third business\" by the Oracle of Omaha. Apple offers some of the strongest branding in the world, is the clear leader in smartphones in the U.S., and has been pivoting to higher-margin services under the leadership of CEO Tim Cook. Though iPhone sales remain Apple's top product, services becoming a larger percentage of total sales will help remove the revenue lumpiness associated with new product launches.\n2. Bank of America: $43.2 billion\nBank stocks have long been Buffett's favorite place to put Berkshire's money work. Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) is Berkshire's unquestioned largest bank holding, with more than 14% of invested assets. Bank of America has done an excellent job of controlling its noninterest expenses by consolidating branches and emphasizing digital banking. American Express: $24.9 billion\nPayment processor and lender American Express (NYSE:AXP) is Buffett's third-largest and third-longest-held stock. After 28 years of holding AmEx, Berkshire Hathaway's position has grown to almost $25 billion in value. This is a cyclical company that benefits from long periods of economic expansion, as well as its ability to attract affluent clientele. These well-to-do clients are less likely to change their spending habits when economic hiccups arise, which often means less worry about credit delinquencies for AmEx.\n4. Coca-Cola: $22.5 billion\nSpeaking of long-tenured holdings, beverage behemoth Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) is the longest-held stock in Buffett's portfolio (33 years). Coca-Cola operates in all but two countries worldwide (North Korea and Cuba) and has more than 20 brands generating at least $1 billion in annual sales. Thanks to its top-notch marketing team, it's also the best-known consumer goods brand. Kraft Heinz: $14.1 billion\nThere's little question that Kraft Heinz (NASDAQ:KHC) is the oddball holding in Buffett's top 10. That's because Buffett admits to Heinz overpaying for Kraft Foods, and the combined company largely underperforming in recent years. This includes a greater than $15 billion goodwill writedown in 2019. While the pandemic has helped boost demand for packaged foods, Kraft Heinz's balance sheet is still bogged down by high debt levels and goodwill. In short, Berkshire Hathaway is sort of stuck with its 325.6 million shares.\n6. Verizon Communications: $9.1 billion\nTelecommunications giant Verizon (NYSE:VZ) is a fairly recent addition to Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio, although it's been bought hand over fist in the previous two quarters by Buffett and his team. The lure of Verizon is likely its 4.4% dividend yield, which is arguably one of the safest high-yield payouts on the planet. What's more, Verizon should benefit immensely from the rollout of 5G infrastructure. U.S. Bancorp: $8.7 billion\nNext to BofA, U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB) is Buffett's favorite bank stock. It's a company that regularly trades at a premium to its book value -- and for good reason. U.S. Bancorp has seen its users embrace technology, with the percentage of consumer loans completed digitally skyrocketing over the past two years. Being able to consolidate its physical branches, while also avoiding riskier derivative investments that have gotten U.S. money-center banks in trouble, has helped U.S. Bancorp to some of the highest return on assets among big banks.\n8. Moody's: $8.5 billion\nCredit agency and analytics company Moody's (NYSE:MCO) is yet another top-10 holding that's been held for longer than two decades. With an initial cost basis of just over $10, Berkshire Hathaway is sitting on an unrealized gain of better than 3,300% -- and this isn't accounting for dividends. Historically low lending rates have kept Moody's credit rating segment busy, while volatile trading markets are boosting demand for Moody's analytics. BYD: $6.2 billion\nBack in 2008, Buffett acquired 225 million shares of China-based electric-vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD (OTC:BYDDY) for $1.03 a share (it closed this past week at $27.65 a share). In March, BYD sold 16,301 EVs, which is more than higher-profile competitors NIO and XPeng delivered on a combined basis in the same month. With the Society of Automotive Engineers of China forecasting that half of all new vehicles sales in 2035 will be powered by alternative energy, BYD is in pole position to disrupt the largest auto market in the world.\n10. DaVita: $4.4 billion\nRounding out the top 10 is kidney dialysis services company DaVita (NYSE:DVA). Buffett's fascination with the company is likely a numbers play. Over time, an aging U.S. population is going to become more reliant on kidney dialysis services for maintenance purposes. As the clear leader in providing these services, DaVita should see a steady uptick in demand and reimbursement for its services. The company, unlike its rivals Nio (NYSE:NIO) and XPeng (NYSE:XPEV), focuses on EREV vehicles, or a combination of BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles. The concept behind an EREV is that a vehicle runs on a battery until it runs out of energy, then a small engine creates energy for the electric motors using fossil fuels to significantly increase the vehicles' driving range. In other words, EREV is a vehicle that takes the best of BEV and ICE.</p>\n<p><b>Bull Thesis</b></p>\n<p>The world is in a transitory phase away from ICE vehicles to cleaner forms of transportation, and Li Auto is in a potential position to benefit from this movement. Here are reasons why:</p>\n<ol>\n <li><p>Li Auto's EREV vehicle is showing strong sales growth</p></li>\n <li><p>Li Auto's revenue growth and profitability potential is attractive</p></li>\n <li><p>Li Auto has a healthy balance sheet and attractive valuation compared to its competitors</p></li>\n</ol>\n<p><b>Bear Thesis</b></p>\n<p>All companies with exponential growth and amazing stories come at a risk, and Li Auto is no exception.</p>\n<ol>\n <li><p>The world will eventually move to complete electric vehicles or BEV, but Li Auto's transition from EREV to BEV might not be successful. Also, will customers continue to seek EREV vehicles if BEV vehicles' range significantly improves?</p></li>\n</ol>\n<p><b>Sales Growth</b></p>\n<p>Li Auto's vehicle, Li One's, sales data is growing at an unimaginable speed. Li Auto delivered&nbsp;32,624&nbsp;vehicles in 2020. Surprisingly, about 44% of the sales came from Q4 alone, which means that Li Auto's delivery is increasing significantly quarter over quarter. In 2021, Li Auto delivered&nbsp;5379&nbsp;vehicles in January,2300&nbsp;vehicles in February, and 4900 vehicles in March. In total, the company delivered 12579 vehicles for the quarter ending in March, which is about a 344% increase year over year. Also. because the management team estimated sales between&nbsp;10500 to 1150&nbsp;0vehicle deliveries in the first quarter, Li Auto proved that their EREV vehicle is still in high demand. Thus, Li Auto will most likely report great earnings and show strong revenue growth in 2021 as well.</p>\n<p><b>Li Auto's Growth</b></p>\n<p>Li Auto started selling its vehicle Li-One in late 2019, and Li Auto's revenue has been growing at an exponential rate since then.Li Auto had a revenue&nbsp;of 40.9 million dollars in December 2019 quarter. In the September 2020 quarter, Li Auto had revenue of 369.8 million dollars, and in December 2020 quarter, Li Auto had revenue of 635.3 million dollars.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29b00f665fd99abd1f2effa9f0f6beda\" tg-width=\"635\" tg-height=\"403\"></p>\n<p>Li Auto's quarter-over-quarter revenue growth from the quarter ending in September to December in 2020 was 72%. On top of this,According to Yahoo Finance, Li Auto's 2021 full-year revenue estimate is about 2.9 billion dollars, which is up over 100% from 1.4 billion dollars in 2020 revenue. Li Auto's exponential growth cannot be denied. Revenues show that Li Auto is growing faster than XPeng and Nio at the moment, and if this trend can continue, Li Auto will be one of the best investments for investors.</p>\n<p>However, there is a problem. Li Auto's revenue growth was solely based on a single EREV vehicle while the world is transitioning to BEV vehicles. EREV vehicles do have advantages with longer range than BEV vehicles, but regulators and consumers will eventually move toward BEV vehicles. Also, in my opinion, Li Auto's most significant competitive advantage is the fact that its vehicle is an EREV, which means that customers are favoring Li One's long-range compared to its competitors. For example, according to&nbsp;Li Auto,Li-One has a range of 500 miles while Nio's ET7 has a range of&nbsp;310 miles and up to 435 miles. This is a significant risk. BEV vehicles' ranges are increasing significantly fast, which means that Li Auto's competitive advantage is decreasing. New batteries such as solid-state batteries will increase the range even further for BEV vehicles. This has the potential to dent Li Auto's sales. Also, once the company transitions to BEV vehicles, customers might migrate to Li Auto's competitors since the competitive advantage of being EREV disappeared. After all, the BEV vehicle market in China is ultra-competitive with multiple start-ups and traditional automakers. I believe this risk is going to be a problem for Li Auto until the company can prove that its BEV vehicles can retain similar sales as its EREV vehicles.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e3ccf9dba33140a395eb7a7378d7eec4\" tg-width=\"598\" tg-height=\"270\"><span>Source - The picture shows a layout of an EREV vehicle</span></p>\n<p>On the bright side, Li Auto is closest to profitability among Nio and XPeng. Li Auto had a net income of&nbsp;16.5 million dollars&nbsp;in the quarter ending in December 2020 while&nbsp;Nio&nbsp;and XPeng lost 228.6 and 418.5 million dollars, respectively. Although Li Auto posted positive net income during the December quarter, the company is still expected to report a small amount of loss at about&nbsp;-0.06&nbsp;per share before reaching profitability in 2022. All in all, Li Auto seems to be managing its cost better than its competitors, while growing at a faster pace.</p>\n<p>Li Auto's ability to grow exponentially while being close to profitability is showing strong bullish signs for the company; however, questions of Li Auto's sustainability with EREV vehicles remain.</p>\n<p><b>Balance Sheet and Valuation</b></p>\n<p>Li Auto, in my opinion, has a very healthy balance sheet, and when considering that the company is growing at an exponential rate, the balance sheet seems even better. Li Auto has 4.3 billion dollars in cash and short-term investments with only 78 million dollars in long-term debt. Furthermore, the company's total liability to total asset ratio (L/S) is at only 18%. Considering that Li Auto is barely losing money, I think it's more than reasonable to say that Li Auto has a healthy balance sheet. If I were to address any concern in the balance sheet, it would be 213.3 million dollars in capital lease, but this will not be a significant problem for the company with its current growth.</p>\n<p>Li Auto also has a very attractive valuation compared to Nio and XPeng at 12.5 p/s ratios compared to Nio's 18.45 and XPeng's 13.63. Li Auto is trading cheaper than these companies with healthier balance sheets and stronger growth. However, Li Auto's cheaper valuation might be from the fact that the company is not selling BEV vehicles.</p>\n<p>I cannot deny that Li Auto's valuation in terms of p/s and its balance sheet is great; however, I think the EV industry as a whole is slightly overvalued. For example, Li Auto is expected to report&nbsp;0.18&nbsp;eps in 2022, which means that Li Auto is trading at about 111 times its 2022 earnings. Also, Nio and XPeng are not even expected to be profitable by 2022. I understand that earnings do not matter for these high-growth companies, but eventually, I think, earnings will matter, eventually.</p>\n<p><b>Conclusion</b></p>\n<p>Although I have more reasons to be bullish for Li Auto than being bearish, I am still doubtful. The revenue is indeed growing at an unimaginable pace, and it is also true that Li Auto has an attractive valuation compared to its competitors while having a healthier balance sheet. But, the uncertainty of sustainability of an EREV vehicle, and the demand for EREV as BEVs get better is troubling. Also, Li Auto's transition from EREV to BEV might not be as smooth as many investors are expecting. I will be cheering for Li Auto and wait until the company's management team provides clearer guidelines for BEV vehicles. Therefore, I believe that this company is perfect for risk-tolerant investors or investors seeking extremely high risk and high reward ratios. The company, unlike its rivals Nio (NYSE:NIO) and XPeng (NYSE:XPEV), focuses on EREV vehicles, or a combination of BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles. The concept behind an EREV is that a vehicle runs on a battery until it runs out of energy, then a small engine creates energy for the electric motors using fossil fuels to significantly increase the vehicles' driving range. In other words, EREV is a vehicle that takes the best of BEV and ICE.\nBull Thesis\nThe world is in a transitory phase away from ICE vehicles to cleaner forms of transportation, and Li Auto is in a potential position to benefit from this movement. Here are reasons why:\n\nLi Auto's EREV vehicle is showing strong sales growth\nLi Auto's revenue growth and profitability potential is attractive\nLi Auto has a healthy balance sheet and attractive valuation compared to its competitors\n\nBear Thesis\nAll companies with exponential growth and amazing stories come at a risk, and Li Auto is no exception.\n\nThe world will eventually move to complete electric vehicles or BEV, but Li Auto's transition from EREV to BEV might not be successful. Also, will customers continue to seek EREV vehicles if BEV vehicles' range significantly improves?\n\nSales Growth\nLi Auto's vehicle, Li One's, sales data is growing at an unimaginable speed. Li Auto delivered 32,624 vehicles in 2020. Surprisingly, about 44% of the sales came from Q4 alone, which means that Li Auto's delivery is increasing significantly quarter over quarter. In 2021, Li Auto delivered 5379 vehicles in January,2300 vehicles in February, and 4900 vehicles in March. In total, the company delivered 12579 vehicles for the quarter ending in March, which is about a 344% increase year over year. Also. because the management team estimated sales between 10500 to 1150 0vehicle deliveries in the first quarter, Li Auto proved that their EREV vehicle is still in high demand. Thus, Li Auto will most likely report great earnings and show strong revenue growth in 2021 as well.\nLi Auto's Growth\nLi Auto started selling its vehicle Li-One in late 2019, and Li Auto's revenue has been growing at an exponential rate since then.Li Auto had a revenue of 40.9 million dollars in December 2019 quarter. In the September 2020 quarter, Li Auto had revenue of 369.8 million dollars, and in December 2020 quarter, Li Auto had revenue of 635.3 million dollars.\n\nLi Auto's quarter-over-quarter revenue growth from the quarter ending in September to December in 2020 was 72%. On top of this,According to Yahoo Finance, Li Auto's 2021 full-year revenue estimate is about 2.9 billion dollars, which is up over 100% from 1.4 billion dollars in 2020 revenue. Li Auto's exponential growth cannot be denied. Revenues show that Li Auto is growing faster than XPeng and Nio at the moment, and if this trend can continue, Li Auto will be one of the best investments for investors.\nHowever, there is a problem. Li Auto's revenue growth was solely based on a single EREV vehicle while the world is transitioning to BEV vehicles. EREV vehicles do have advantages with longer range than BEV vehicles, but regulators and consumers will eventually move toward BEV vehicles. Also, in my opinion, Li Auto's most significant competitive advantage is the fact that its vehicle is an EREV, which means that customers are favoring Li One's long-range compared to its competitors. For example, according to Li Auto,Li-One has a range of 500 miles while Nio's ET7 has a range of 310 miles and up to 435 miles. This is a significant risk. BEV vehicles' ranges are increasing significantly fast, which means that Li Auto's competitive advantage is decreasing. New batteries such as solid-state batteries will increase the range even further for BEV vehicles. This has the potential to dent Li Auto's sales. Also, once the company transitions to BEV vehicles, customers might migrate to Li Auto's competitors since the competitive advantage of being EREV disappeared. After all, the BEV vehicle market in China is ultra-competitive with multiple start-ups and traditional automakers. I believe this risk is going to be a problem for Li Auto until the company can prove that its BEV vehicles can retain similar sales as its EREV vehicles.\nSource - The picture shows a layout of an EREV vehicle\nOn the bright side, Li Auto is closest to profitability among Nio and XPeng. Li Auto had a net income of 16.5 million dollars in the quarter ending in December 2020 while Nio and XPeng lost 228.6 and 418.5 million dollars, respectively. Although Li Auto posted positive net income during the December quarter, the company is still expected to report a small amount of loss at about -0.06 per share before reaching profitability in 2022. All in all, Li Auto seems to be managing its cost better than its competitors, while growing at a faster pace.\nLi Auto's ability to grow exponentially while being close to profitability is showing strong bullish signs for the company; however, questions of Li Auto's sustainability with EREV vehicles remain.\nBalance Sheet and Valuation\nLi Auto, in my opinion, has a very healthy balance sheet, and when considering that the company is growing at an exponential rate, the balance sheet seems even better. Li Auto has 4.3 billion dollars in cash and short-term investments with only 78 million dollars in long-term debt. Furthermore, the company's total liability to total asset ratio (L/S) is at only 18%. Considering that Li Auto is barely losing money, I think it's more than reasonable to say that Li Auto has a healthy balance sheet. If I were to address any concern in the balance sheet, it would be 213.3 million dollars in capital lease, but this will not be a significant problem for the company with its current growth.\nLi Auto also has a very attractive valuation compared to Nio and XPeng at 12.5 p/s ratios compared to Nio's 18.45 and XPeng's 13.63. Li Auto is trading cheaper than these companies with healthier balance sheets and stronger growth. However, Li Auto's cheaper valuation might be from the fact that the company is not selling BEV vehicles.\nI cannot deny that Li Auto's valuation in terms of p/s and its balance sheet is great; however, I think the EV industry as a whole is slightly overvalued. For example, Li Auto is expected to report 0.18 eps in 2022, which means that Li Auto is trading at about 111 times its 2022 earnings. Also, Nio and XPeng are not even expected to be profitable by 2022. I understand that earnings do not matter for these high-growth companies, but eventually, I think, earnings will matter, eventually.\nConclusion\nAlthough I have more reasons to be bullish for Li Auto than being bearish, I am still doubtful. The revenue is indeed growing at an unimaginable pace, and it is also true that Li Auto has an attractive valuation compared to its competitors while having a healthier balance sheet. But, the uncertainty of sustainability of an EREV vehicle, and the demand for EREV as BEVs get better is troubling. Also, Li Auto's transition from EREV to BEV might not be as smooth as many investors are expecting. I will be cheering for Li Auto and wait until the company's management team provides clearer guidelines for BEV vehicles. Therefore, I believe that this company is perfect for risk-tolerant investors or investors seeking extremely high risk and high reward ratios. The reasons for a pullback are many: The stock market has rallied for too long and has gone up too smoothly, the Federal Reserve is about to remove the bond buying that has helped prop markets up, taxes are ready to rise, economic data are slowing. None of it really left a mark.</p>\n<p>But then the&nbsp;S&amp;P 500&nbsp;dropped 0.6%, to 4432.99, over the week, while the&nbsp;Dow Jones Industrial Average&nbsp;fell 0.1%, to 34,584.88, and the&nbsp;Nasdaq Composite&nbsp;slumped 0.5%, to 15,043.97. For the S&amp;P 500, it was the first close since June 18 below its 50-day moving average—a technical measure of the previous 50 days’ closes that often ends up acting as support or resistance and that currently sits at 4436.35. For traders, it was very frightening.</p>\n<p>That the drop also occurred on options expiration day—when options bets expire and are rolled over, typically a volatile day—also makes the moment fraught. Since May, options expiration has been the time for the S&amp;P 500 to make a quick test of its 50-day moving average before a bounce higher. And when I say quick, I mean quick, as it usually took the index a day, maybe two, to rebound.</p>\n<p>“The 50-Day MA discussion has been pounded into our heads with every drawdown,” writes Frank Cappelleri, desk strategist at Instinet. “And while we may be sick of hearing about it, the dip buying around the line has been a real phenomenon.”</p>\n<p>This time has a different feel to it. The S&amp;P 500’s sojourn near the 50-day has been longer, notes Jonathan Krinsky, chief market technician at Bay Crest Partners. It’s been sitting near it for about six trading days now, without a big drop or big bounce. “The current set-up looks a bit more like a consolidation on the 50 DMA, as opposed to the prior quick ‘V-shaped’ dips,” Krinsky writes. “What we are saying is that the current way in which we got here feels a bit different than the last four to five times.”</p>\n<p>Still, Krinsky acknowledges that one close below the 50-day isn’t enough to panic. That’s because the S&amp;P 500 has now gone 218 days without two closes below the average, the second-longest streak since 1990. We won’t know if that streak breaks until the end of trading on Monday.</p>\n<p>The market has plenty of excuses to break the 50-day, if it’s so inclined. Maybe Evergrande (ticker: 3333.Hong Kong), the troubled Chinese property developer, will prove to be a Lehman moment and bring the world’s markets down with it. Maybe the Fed will surprise everyone and start tapering this coming week. The reasons for a pullback are many: The stock market has rallied for too long and has gone up too smoothly, the Federal Reserve is about to remove the bond buying that has helped prop markets up, taxes are ready to rise, economic data are slowing. None of it really left a mark.\nBut then the S&P 500 dropped 0.6%, to 4432.99, over the week, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1%, to 34,584.88, and the Nasdaq Composite slumped 0.5%, to 15,043.97. For the S&P 500, it was the first close since June 18 below its 50-day moving average—a technical measure of the previous 50 days’ closes that often ends up acting as support or resistance and that currently sits at 4436.35. For traders, it was very frightening.\nThat the drop also occurred on options expiration day—when options bets expire and are rolled over, typically a volatile day—also makes the moment fraught. Since May, options expiration has been the time for the S&P 500 to make a quick test of its 50-day moving average before a bounce higher. And when I say quick, I mean quick, as it usually took the index a day, maybe two, to rebound.\n“The 50-Day MA discussion has been pounded into our heads with every drawdown,” writes Frank Cappelleri, desk strategist at Instinet. “And while we may be sick of hearing about it, the dip buying around the line has been a real phenomenon.”\nThis time has a different feel to it. The S&P 500’s sojourn near the 50-day has been longer, notes Jonathan Krinsky, chief market technician at Bay Crest Partners. It’s been sitting near it for about six trading days now, without a big drop or big bounce. “The current set-up looks a bit more like a consolidation on the 50 DMA, as opposed to the prior quick ‘V-shaped’ dips,” Krinsky writes. “What we are saying is that the current way in which we got here feels a bit different than the last four to five times.”\nStill, Krinsky acknowledges that one close below the 50-day isn’t enough to panic. That’s because the S&P 500 has now gone 218 days without two closes below the average, the second-longest streak since 1990. This is a cyclical company that benefits from long periods of economic expansion, as well as its ability to attract affluent clientele. Being able to consolidate its physical branches, while also avoiding riskier derivative investments that have gotten U.S. money-center banks in trouble, has helped U.S. Bancorp to some of the highest return on assets among big banks.</p>\n<h2>8. Moody's: $8.5 billion</h2>\n<p>Credit agency and analytics company <b>Moody's</b> (NYSE:MCO) is yet another top-10 holding that's been held for longer than two decades. With an initial cost basis of just over $10, Berkshire Hathaway is sitting on an unrealized gain of better than 3,300% -- and this isn't accounting for dividends. Historically low lending rates have kept Moody's credit rating segment busy, while volatile trading markets are boosting demand for Moody's analytics. The company, unlike its rivals Nio (NYSE:NIO) and XPeng (NYSE:XPEV), focuses on EREV vehicles, or a combination of BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles. The concept behind an EREV is that a vehicle runs on a battery until it runs out of energy, then a small engine creates energy for the electric motors using fossil fuels to significantly increase the vehicles' driving range. In other words, EREV is a vehicle that takes the best of BEV and ICE.</p>\n<p><b>Bull Thesis</b></p>\n<p>The world is in a transitory phase away from ICE vehicles to cleaner forms of transportation, and Li Auto is in a potential position to benefit from this movement. Here are reasons why:</p>\n<ol>\n <li><p>Li Auto's EREV vehicle is showing strong sales growth</p></li>\n <li><p>Li Auto's revenue growth and profitability potential is attractive</p></li>\n <li><p>Li Auto has a healthy balance sheet and attractive valuation compared to its competitors</p></li>\n</ol>\n<p><b>Bear Thesis</b></p>\n<p>All companies with exponential growth and amazing stories come at a risk, and Li Auto is no exception.</p>\n<ol>\n <li><p>The world will eventually move to complete electric vehicles or BEV, but Li Auto's transition from EREV to BEV might not be successful. Also, will customers continue to seek EREV vehicles if BEV vehicles' range significantly improves?</p></li>\n</ol>\n<p><b>Sales Growth</b></p>\n<p>Li Auto's vehicle, Li One's, sales data is growing at an unimaginable speed. Li Auto delivered&nbsp;32,624&nbsp;vehicles in 2020. Surprisingly, about 44% of the sales came from Q4 alone, which means that Li Auto's delivery is increasing significantly quarter over quarter. In 2021, Li Auto delivered&nbsp;5379&nbsp;vehicles in January,2300&nbsp;vehicles in February, and 4900 vehicles in March. In total, the company delivered 12579 vehicles for the quarter ending in March, which is about a 344% increase year over year. Also. because the management team estimated sales between&nbsp;10500 to 1150&nbsp;0vehicle deliveries in the first quarter, Li Auto proved that their EREV vehicle is still in high demand. Thus, Li Auto will most likely report great earnings and show strong revenue growth in 2021 as well.</p>\n<p><b>Li Auto's Growth</b></p>\n<p>Li Auto started selling its vehicle Li-One in late 2019, and Li Auto's revenue has been growing at an exponential rate since then.Li Auto had a revenue&nbsp;of 40.9 million dollars in December 2019 quarter. In the September 2020 quarter, Li Auto had revenue of 369.8 million dollars, and in December 2020 quarter, Li Auto had revenue of 635.3 million dollars.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29b00f665fd99abd1f2effa9f0f6beda\" tg-width=\"635\" tg-height=\"403\"></p>\n<p>Li Auto's quarter-over-quarter revenue growth from the quarter ending in September to December in 2020 was 72%. On top of this,According to Yahoo Finance, Li Auto's 2021 full-year revenue estimate is about 2.9 billion dollars, which is up over 100% from 1.4 billion dollars in 2020 revenue. Li Auto's exponential growth cannot be denied. Revenues show that Li Auto is growing faster than XPeng and Nio at the moment, and if this trend can continue, Li Auto will be one of the best investments for investors.</p>\n<p>However, there is a problem. Li Auto's revenue growth was solely based on a single EREV vehicle while the world is transitioning to BEV vehicles. EREV vehicles do have advantages with longer range than BEV vehicles, but regulators and consumers will eventually move toward BEV vehicles. Also, in my opinion, Li Auto's most significant competitive advantage is the fact that its vehicle is an EREV, which means that customers are favoring Li One's long-range compared to its competitors. For example, according to&nbsp;Li Auto,Li-One has a range of 500 miles while Nio's ET7 has a range of&nbsp;310 miles and up to 435 miles. This is a significant risk. Li Auto had a net income of&nbsp;16.5 million dollars&nbsp;in the quarter ending in December 2020 while&nbsp;Nio&nbsp;and XPeng lost 228.6 and 418.5 million dollars, respectively. Although Li Auto posted positive net income during the December quarter, the company is still expected to report a small amount of loss at about&nbsp;-0.06&nbsp;per share before reaching profitability in 2022. All in all, Li Auto seems to be managing its cost better than its competitors, while growing at a faster pace.</p>\n<p>Li Auto's ability to grow exponentially while being close to profitability is showing strong bullish signs for the company; however, questions of Li Auto's sustainability with EREV vehicles remain.</p>\n<p><b>Balance Sheet and Valuation</b></p>\n<p>Li Auto, in my opinion, has a very healthy balance sheet, and when considering that the company is growing at an exponential rate, the balance sheet seems even better. Li Auto has 4.3 billion dollars in cash and short-term investments with only 78 million dollars in long-term debt. Furthermore, the company's total liability to total asset ratio (L/S) is at only 18%. Considering that Li Auto is barely losing money, I think it's more than reasonable to say that Li Auto has a healthy balance sheet. If I were to address any concern in the balance sheet, it would be 213.3 million dollars in capital lease, but this will not be a significant problem for the company with its current growth.</p>\n<p>Li Auto also has a very attractive valuation compared to Nio and XPeng at 12.5 p/s ratios compared to Nio's 18.45 and XPeng's 13.63. Li Auto is trading cheaper than these companies with healthier balance sheets and stronger growth. However, Li Auto's cheaper valuation might be from the fact that the company is not selling BEV vehicles.</p>\n<p>I cannot deny that Li Auto's valuation in terms of p/s and its balance sheet is great; however, I think the EV industry as a whole is slightly overvalued. For example, Li Auto is expected to report&nbsp;0.18&nbsp;eps in 2022, which means that Li Auto is trading at about 111 times its 2022 earnings. Also, Nio and XPeng are not even expected to be profitable by 2022. I understand that earnings do not matter for these high-growth companies, but eventually, I think, earnings will matter, eventually.</p>\n<p><b>Conclusion</b></p>\n<p>Although I have more reasons to be bullish for Li Auto than being bearish, I am still doubtful. The revenue is indeed growing at an unimaginable pace, and it is also true that Li Auto has an attractive valuation compared to its competitors while having a healthier balance sheet. But, the uncertainty of sustainability of an EREV vehicle, and the demand for EREV as BEVs get better is troubling. Also, Li Auto's transition from EREV to BEV might not be as smooth as many investors are expecting. I will be cheering for Li Auto and wait until the company's management team provides clearer guidelines for BEV vehicles. Therefore, I believe that this company is perfect for risk-tolerant investors or investors seeking extremely high risk and high reward ratios. In other words, EREV is a vehicle that takes the best of BEV and ICE.\nBull Thesis\nThe world is in a transitory phase away from ICE vehicles to cleaner forms of transportation, and Li Auto is in a potential position to benefit from this movement. Here are reasons why:\n\nLi Auto's EREV vehicle is showing strong sales growth\nLi Auto's revenue growth and profitability potential is attractive\nLi Auto has a healthy balance sheet and attractive valuation compared to its competitors\n\nBear Thesis\nAll companies with exponential growth and amazing stories come at a risk, and Li Auto is no exception.\n\nThe world will eventually move to complete electric vehicles or BEV, but Li Auto's transition from EREV to BEV might not be successful. Also, will customers continue to seek EREV vehicles if BEV vehicles' range significantly improves?\n\nSales Growth\nLi Auto's vehicle, Li One's, sales data is growing at an unimaginable speed. Li Auto delivered 32,624 vehicles in 2020. Surprisingly, about 44% of the sales came from Q4 alone, which means that Li Auto's delivery is increasing significantly quarter over quarter. In 2021, Li Auto delivered 5379 vehicles in January,2300 vehicles in February, and 4900 vehicles in March. In total, the company delivered 12579 vehicles for the quarter ending in March, which is about a 344% increase year over year. A year after initial Model 3 deliveries, shares were down about 11%, to $60.</p>\n<p>There are delivery events and unveiling events. Tesla isn’t delivering its Cybertruck yet, but it revealed the truck inNovember 2019when the stock was about $67 a share. Shares rose about 22% and 170% one and three months, repsectively, after the reveal. A year later, shares were up about 635%.</p>\n<p>Of course, the Cybertruck can’t take all the credit, or even most of it: Around the same time, Tesla started consistentlyproducing profitsand free cash flow.</p>\n<p>Tesla unveiled its semitruck and new roadster in December 2017. Shares rose about 2% following that reveal. But one and three months later, the stock was down compared with the share price–about $68–at the event. A year later, Tesla shares were up about 11%.</p>\n<p>For Tesla stock, the Model S Plaid delivery event is probably more like the semi truck event than the original Model S release. The Plaid is an important vehicle with impressive technology. But with a price tag of more than $120,000, it won’t sell a lot of units. A month later, shares were down 6%. Three months later, shares were down 11%. But a year after the event, when Tesla delivered its first production sedan, the stock was up almost 200%, to about $20.\nTesla held aModel 3delivery event in July 2017, when shares were about $67. They didn’t do much the days following the event. A month later the stock was up 4%, but three months later, it was down to about $64. A year after initial Model 3 deliveries, shares were down about 11%, to $60.\nThere are delivery events and unveiling events. Tesla isn’t delivering its Cybertruck yet, but it revealed the truck inNovember 2019when the stock was about $67 a share. Shares rose about 22% and 170% one and three months, repsectively, after the reveal. A year later, shares were up about 635%.\nOf course, the Cybertruck can’t take all the credit, or even most of it: Around the same time, Tesla started consistentlyproducing profitsand free cash flow.\nTesla unveiled its semitruck and new roadster in December 2017. Shares rose about 2% following that reveal. But one and three months later, the stock was down compared with the share price–about $68–at the event. A year later, Tesla shares were up about 11%.\nFor Tesla stock, the Model S Plaid delivery event is probably more like the semi truck event than the original Model S release. The Plaid is an important vehicle with impressive technology. But with a price tag of more than $120,000, it won’t sell a lot of units.
