However, macro uncertainty and softness in the cloud business are a drag. The macro weakness in China, increased competitive activity, and COVID-led disruptions have weighed on the financial performance of internet giant Alibaba (NYSE: BABA). The company’s growth decelerated sequentially over the past several quarters.Given the challenges, Alibaba stock has dropped nearly 54% from its 52-week high. While the slowdown in growth dragged its share price lower, regulatory headwinds further contributed to its decline. What’s Next?Though BABA stock has decreased substantially, COVID-led uncertainty and the economic slowdown could restrict the recovery in the short term. However, favorable government policies and easing COVID restrictions could reaccelerate growth.During last quarter’s conference call, Alibaba’s CEO, Daniel Zhang, indicated supportive government policies. Zhang stated, “Chinese government has released important policy signals on its commitment to stabilize the economy.” Moreover, “They have also issued clear statements on promoting the development of internet platform economy through a healthy, regulatory environment.”As the operating environment shows signs of improvement, US Tiger Securities analyst Bo Pei upgraded BABA stock to Buy from Hold.Pei added, “Despite the more challenging June quarter, we are upgrading BABA to BUY as we believe both revenue and profitability will bottom out and hit a long-awaited inflection point in the quarter.”The analyst expects Alibaba’s growth to improve in the second half of this year, benefitting from easier year-over-year comparisons and government stimulus.Echoing similar sentiments, Bank of America Securities analyst Eddie Leung reiterated his Buy recommendation on BABA stock.Offering updates from its virtual Innovative Conference with Alibaba, Leung said supply bottlenecks are easing. Further, Alibaba is witnessing an improvement in demand in some product categories. However, for the cloud business, “Alibaba sees resumption of some projects delayed by the lockdowns but expects an economic slowdown and moderate traffic growth among Internet sector clients to weigh on the near-term growth.”Including Pei and Leung, Alibaba has received 16 Buy recommendations. Meanwhile, two analysts remain sidelined.Overall, it sports a Strong Buy consensus rating on TipRanks. Further, the average Alibaba price target of $161.01 implies 51.2% upside potential.Bottom LineThe easing of regulatory headwinds and COVID-led restrictions will likely support Alibaba’s growth. Moreover, easier year-over-year comparisons are positive. However, uncertainty related to the pandemic, an expected softness in the cloud business, and a tough macro environment pose challenges.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":357,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9050125045,"gmtCreate":1654150221788,"gmtModify":1676535403719,"author":{"id":"3582486329089537","authorId":"3582486329089537","name":"BC10","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582486329089537","authorIdStr":"3582486329089537"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] ","listText":"[Like] ","text":"[Like]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9050125045","repostId":"2240222457","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2240222457","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1654148708,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2240222457?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-02 13:45","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Alibaba Shows A Surprising Win","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2240222457","media":"Seekingalpha","summary":"Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) has shown surprisingly good performance in some key businesses in the recent qua","content":"

Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) has shown surprisingly good performance in some key businesses in the recent quarter which makes the stock a "Strong Buy" at the current price.

One of the most important is Local Consumer Services which involves the delivery businesses like Ele.me, Fliggy and Taoxianda. The YoY growth rate in this segment was 29% compared to the overall growth of 9%. This made it one of the fastest-growing business segments of Alibaba. At the same time, Local consumer services segment showed a thirty percentage point improvement in EBITA margin. This alone saved Alibaba $2 billion on an annualized basis.

One of the main factors behind the better performance is the fines levied in China on Meituan (OTCPK:MPNGY) which is Alibaba's chief rival. These fines and new regulations are meant to reduce the aggressive initiatives by companies in this segment to gain market share. Meituan was given a fine of $530 million by China's antitrust regulator.

Many Wall Street analysts have a bearish outlook for Alibaba due to the regulatory environment. However, we can see that new regulations can be a boon for Alibaba as it reduces the competitive headwinds and helps in improving the margins.

A big chunk of growth is coming from non-restaurant businesses like grocery and healthcare categories. Massive growth in last-mile delivery services in China and other international regions will be one of the main drivers of Alibaba’s stock growth in the long run.

Lower competitive headwinds

The initial stages of the delivery business saw huge investment and ramp-up of services by Ele.me and Meituan. However, in the current stage, both the companies have reached a scale where they do not have to give massive subsidies to attract new customers. The regulators are also trying to restrict monopolistic activities by either of the companies. One of the key ways where both Ele.me and Meituan tried to restrict competition was by forcing merchants to choose only one provider for delivery service. The recent fines will prevent this behavior.

Meituan had to pay more than $500 million fine. As the rules of competition become more defined, both Ele.me and Meituan will try to gain customers on the back of better and quicker service instead of indulging in price wars. This should help in improving the margin from this segment.

Company Filings

Figure 1: Local consumer services segment showed 30 percentage point improvement in margins. Source: Company Filings

Alibaba reported close to $1.6 billion in quarterly revenue for its Local consumer services business. The EBITA margin was negative 52% compared to negative 82% in the year-ago quarter. This improvement alone has saved the company $500 million in this quarter and $2 billion on an annualized basis. It is likely that we will continue to see further improvement in margins as Alibaba leverages economies of scale in this business.

Improvement in business

Local consumer services segment is still reporting healthy growth in customer base and orders. In the latest quarter, it reported 20% YoY growth in annual active customers which has increased to 376 million. The YoY revenue growth came at 29% in the recent quarter. This is one of the fastest-growing businesses of Alibaba. We should also see further growth in the next few years on the back of a bigger customer base and larger order volume per customer. New services like grocery and healthcare delivery will add new revenue streams to this business.

Company Filings

Figure 2: Local Consumer Services segment reaches $1.6 billion quarterly revenue. Source: Company Filings

The annualized revenue rate of Local consumer services business is over $6 billion. There is still a lot of potential for growth through subscriptions and margin improvement.

Long-term opportunity

In a recent quarterly report, DoorDash (DASH) mentioned the long-term market potential of last-mile delivery. Alibaba has already built this service in China. We could see a replication of these services in other international markets like Southeast Asia and Europe. This would take a number of years, but it is likely that Alibaba would be one of the key last-mile delivery players in most of the important e-commerce markets of the world. This should help in building a long-term bullish trajectory for the company.

DoorDash filings

Figure 3: Food and grocery market. Source: DoorDash filing

Alibaba has also been successful in building its stake in leading delivery providers in international regions. One of the key regions is India where Alibaba’s Ant Financial had built close to 20% stake in Zomato, a major last-mile delivery company. Alibaba reduced its stake after facing some regulatory challenges. Zomato has since completed a successful IPO and is trading at a market cap of over $7 billion. Alibaba's business in China is significantly bigger than that of Zomato in India which should give Alibaba's Local consumer services business a better standalone valuation.

Alibaba is likely to replicate its last-mile delivery business in Southeast Asia, Europe, and other international regions. This will give the company a long runway of growth and improve the ability to build its lucrative subscription business.

New growth opportunities

Having a strong last-mile delivery capability is an advantage for every e-commerce company. However, this business model is showing success on a standalone basis also. New services are being added where customers are looking for home delivery. This includes grocery, pharmacy, and many other segments. The unit economics of this business depends on the density of the network. Hence, more services and market share help in better utilization of its delivery drivers.

Ycharts

Figure 4: Alibaba is trading at a very low forward PE ratio despite showing resilience during lockdowns. Source: Ycharts

Alibaba is trading at a low forward PE multiple. Most of the bearishness is due to uncertainty about regulations and pandemic. However, the last few months have shown that Alibaba is able to weather new regulations and has built a strong moat that can withstand headwinds like lockdowns during the pandemic. According to Reuters, the last survey showed that Meituan’s market share in the last-mile delivery business of China was 65% while the rest was with Ele.me. Meituan is trading at a market cap of $140 billion. Using the market share metric, the standalone valuation of Local consumer services should at least be $70 billion.

Local consumer services business provides a halo effect to other segments of Alibaba. It is also possible for the company to replicate the business in other international regions. Hence, this should give a premium to Local consumer services valuation on a standalone basis. Even if we take a conservative figure of $70 billion, it is close to 25% of the current market cap of Alibaba.

It will also provide a strong tailwind to the lucrative subscription business where Alibaba can combine different services like delivery, video streaming, and others in a single membership. This segment has lots of growth potential, both in the domestic as well as international regions. Investors should look at the growth trajectory of Local consumer services business to gauge the future potential of Alibaba stock.

Investor Takeaway

Alibaba’s Local consumer services business is seeing lower competition after massive fines on Meituan. The regulators are looking to prevent monopoly within the delivery industry which should allow Ele.me and Meituan to retain their market share at reasonable levels. At the same time, Local consumer services has reported close to 20% growth in active customers and 29% YoY growth in revenue. However, we can see that new regulations can be a boon for Alibaba as it reduces the competitive headwinds and helps in improving the margins.A big chunk of growth is coming from non-restaurant businesses like grocery and healthcare categories. Massive growth in last-mile delivery services in China and other international regions will be one of the main drivers of Alibaba’s stock growth in the long run.Lower competitive headwindsThe initial stages of the delivery business saw huge investment and ramp-up of services by Ele.me and Meituan. The recent fines will prevent this behavior.Meituan had to pay more than $500 million fine. As the rules of competition become more defined, both Ele.me and Meituan will try to gain customers on the back of better and quicker service instead of indulging in price wars. This should help in improving the margin from this segment.Company FilingsFigure 1: Local consumer services segment showed 30 percentage point improvement in margins. Source: Company FilingsAlibaba reported close to $1.6 billion in quarterly revenue for its Local consumer services business. The EBITA margin was negative 52% compared to negative 82% in the year-ago quarter. This improvement alone has saved the company $500 million in this quarter and $2 billion on an annualized basis. It is likely that we will continue to see further improvement in margins as Alibaba leverages economies of scale in this business.Improvement in businessLocal consumer services segment is still reporting healthy growth in customer base and orders. New services like grocery and healthcare delivery will add new revenue streams to this business.Company FilingsFigure 2: Local Consumer Services segment reaches $1.6 billion quarterly revenue. Source: Company FilingsThe annualized revenue rate of Local consumer services business is over $6 billion. There is still a lot of potential for growth through subscriptions and margin improvement.Long-term opportunityIn a recent quarterly report, DoorDash (DASH) mentioned the long-term market potential of last-mile delivery. Alibaba has already built this service in China. We could see a replication of these services in other international markets like Southeast Asia and Europe. This would take a number of years, but it is likely that Alibaba would be one of the key last-mile delivery players in most of the important e-commerce markets of the world. This should help in building a long-term bullish trajectory for the company.DoorDash filingsFigure 3: Food and grocery market. Source: DoorDash filingAlibaba has also been successful in building its stake in leading delivery providers in international regions. Alibaba's business in China is significantly bigger than that of Zomato in India which should give Alibaba's Local consumer services business a better standalone valuation.Alibaba is likely to replicate its last-mile delivery business in Southeast Asia, Europe, and other international regions. This will give the company a long runway of growth and improve the ability to build its lucrative subscription business.New growth opportunitiesHaving a strong last-mile delivery capability is an advantage for every e-commerce company. However, this business model is showing success on a standalone basis also. New services are being added where customers are looking for home delivery. This includes grocery, pharmacy, and many other segments. The unit economics of this business depends on the density of the network. Hence, more services and market share help in better utilization of its delivery drivers.YchartsFigure 4: Alibaba is trading at a very low forward PE ratio despite showing resilience during lockdowns. Source: YchartsAlibaba is trading at a low forward PE multiple. Using the market share metric, the standalone valuation of Local consumer services should at least be $70 billion.Local consumer services business provides a halo effect to other segments of Alibaba. Investors should look at the growth trajectory of Local consumer services business to gauge the future potential of Alibaba stock.Investor TakeawayAlibaba’s Local consumer services business is seeing lower competition after massive fines on Meituan. The regulators are looking to prevent monopoly within the delivery industry which should allow Ele.me and Meituan to retain their market share at reasonable levels. At the same time, Local consumer services has reported close to 20% growth in active customers and 29% YoY growth in revenue. New services are being added for last-mile delivery which should help increase the growth runway in this business.Alibaba is also replicating this business in international regions. It was quite successful in building a big ownership stake in India’s Zomato which has a market cap of $7 billion. We should see Local consumer services become an integral part of Alibaba’s stock growth as the revenue share and margins of this business increase.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":259,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9067407177,"gmtCreate":1652493802799,"gmtModify":1676535111433,"author":{"id":"3582486329089537","authorId":"3582486329089537","name":"BC10","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582486329089537","authorIdStr":"3582486329089537"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] ","listText":"[Like] ","text":"[Like]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9067407177","repostId":"2235134123","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2235134123","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1652484869,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2235134123?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-05-14 07:34","market":"us","language":"en","title":"What Terra Shutting Down Its Blockchain Means for Investors","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2235134123","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Terraform Labs CEO says UST has failed.","content":"

[

Terraform Labs CEO says UST has failed.

Key points

Terra's blockchain has been shut down twice in recent days, and several exchanges have delisted LUNA.

The CEO of Terraform Labs outlined new plans to restart the ecosystem, but admits UST has failed.

Dollar-pegged stablecoins will never be as safe as the U.S. dollar.

Terraform Labs has halted its blockchain twice in recent days after the value of LUNA dropped to almost nothing. Terra's collapse is a horrible lesson for many investors who invested in good faith in a well-respected cryptocurrency.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":332,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9086686969,"gmtCreate":1650449286744,"gmtModify":1676534726321,"author":{"id":"3582486329089537","authorId":"3582486329089537","name":"BC10","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582486329089537","authorIdStr":"3582486329089537"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] ","listText":"[Like] ","text":"[Like]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9086686969","repostId":"1154087680","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":299,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9045953533,"gmtCreate":1656553177822,"gmtModify":1676535852528,"author":{"id":"3582486329089537","authorId":"3582486329089537","name":"BC10","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582486329089537","authorIdStr":"3582486329089537"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] ","listText":"[Like] ","text":"[Like]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9045953533","repostId":"2247044888","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":326,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9931585785,"gmtCreate":1662480447647,"gmtModify":1676537070324,"author":{"id":"3582486329089537","authorId":"3582486329089537","name":"BC10","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582486329089537","authorIdStr":"3582486329089537"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] ","listText":"[Like] ","text":"[Like]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9931585785","repostId":"1120803157","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1120803157","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1662471156,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1120803157?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-09-06 21:32","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S. Stocks Rise As Wall Street Looks to Reverse 3-Week Losing Streak","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1120803157","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Stock rose Tuesday as traders aimed to start the holiday-shortened week on a strong note. The Dow Jon","content":"

Stock rose Tuesday as traders aimed to start the holiday-shortened week on a strong note.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 136 points, or 0.44%. Since taking the reins in 1965, he's led his company's Class A shares (BRK.A) to an average annual gain of 20.1%, which translates into an aggregate return of 3,641,613%, as of the end of 2021. Though no investor is infallible, Buffett's knack for picking winners has earned him a captive audience.

The easiest way for investors to ride the Oracle of Omaha's coattails is to track Berkshire Hathaway's required quarterlyForm 13Ffilings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Buffett's "hidden" portfolio purchased three fast-growing companies in the second quarter

A 13F is essentially a snapshot of what the brightest money managers with at least $100 million in assets under management were holding at the end of the most recent quarter. It allows investors to see what these fund managers have been buying, selling, and holding, as well as establish what trends or industries are piquing the attention of professional money managers. Berkshire Hathaway filed its 13F exactly one week ago today, on Aug. 15.

However, you might be surprised to learn that Berkshire Hathaway's 13F fails to tell the full story behind Buffett's direct and indirect holdings. For instance, you won't find any information about Warren Buffett's most-purchased stock over the past four years in Berkshire's 13F. That's because stock buybacks are only disclosed in the company's quarterly operating results. Since July 2018, Buffett and his right-hand man Charlie Munger have overseen the repurchase of $62.1 billion of Berkshire Hathaway's Class A and Class B (BRK.B) shares.

Something else Berkshire Hathaway's 13F doesn't disclose is Warren Buffett's secret portfolio.

Back in 1998, the Oracle of Omaha's company acquired reinsurer General Re for $22 billion. While the prize of this deal was the reinsurance operations, General Re also ran a specialty investment subsidiary known as New England Asset Management (NEAM). When the deal closed, NEAM and its assets under management became an owned entity of Berkshire Hathaway.

Even though Buffett and his investment team don't oversee the $5.9 billion New England Asset Management has in assets under management (as of June 30), the securities NEAM owns are, ultimately, part of Berkshire Hathaway.

According to New England Asset Management's latest 13F filing, Buffett's "hidden" portfolio bought three brand-new supercharged growth stocks.

Nvidia

Although the Oracle of Omaha isn't big on buying fast-growing tech stocks, he's now the proud indirect owner of shares of Nvidia. The 13F filing with the SEC notes that NEAM acquired more than 3,000 shares of the graphics card and networking solutions company during the second quarter.

The thought process behind adding Nvidia probably has to do with some combination of shares losing about half their value at one point during the second quarter and the company's enticing longer-term growth outlook for a variety of its operating segments.

While Nvidia is likely best-known for its graphics cards, which have performed relatively well with the release of new gaming consoles and the rise of cryptocurrency mining, it's the company's data center solutions that are its most intriguing growth driver. Businesses were already shifting data into the cloud at a steady pace prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. In its wake, the pace of this shift has accelerated, putting even more data center demand on the table. For the time being, only supply chain concerns have slowed Nvidia's sustainable double-digit annual growth opportunity in data center solutions.

The company's ancillary operating segments could also become stars by the midpoint of the decade. Providing solutions to next-generation vehicles, including autonomous vehicles, as well as offering a gateway to the metaverse with its professional visualization software, gives Nvidia supercharged growth potential from what are currently smaller revenue operating segments.

NextEra Energy

The second fast-paced growth stock added during the second quarter by Buffett's secret portfolio iselectric utility NextEra Energy. Although NextEra isn't generating the same type of annual revenue growth as tech stocks, itissubstantially outpacing the growth rate of pretty much all other utility stocks and has done so for more than a decade. Relative to its peers, NextEra is absolutely a supercharged growth stock.

What makes NextEra Energy such a superstar among utility stocks is its renewable-energy projects. Among U.S. utilities, none is generating more capacity from wind and solar. With up to $55 billion set aside for predominantly green energy projects between 2020 and 2022, and the company forecasting up to 36,900 megawatts of renewable energy projects in its backlog between 2022 and 2025, no other utility looks close to challenging NextEra as the renewable energy kingpin.

Although wind, solar, and energy storage projects can be costly, the company was able to take advantage of years of historically low interest rates to advance its green energy push. The end result is significantly reduced electricity generation costs and a compound annual growth rate that's stayed in the high single digits for over a decade.

As an added bonus, NextEra Energy is also a Dividend Aristocrat. This is a term bestowed on S&P 500-listed companies that have raised their base annual dividend for at least 25 consecutive years. NextEra has increased its payout for 28 consecutive years, with management anticipating double-digit percentage increases in the company's base annual distribution through 2024.

Chewy

The third and final supercharged growth stock added to Warren Buffett's secret portfolio during the second quarter is online-based pet food and treats company Chewy. New England Asset Management opened its position with a stake of more than 1,600 shares.

One of the best aspects of pet industry stocks is that they're practically recession-proof. According to data from the American Pet Products Association, the percentage of U.S. households that own a pet hit an all-time high (at least during the APPA's period of survey-taking) of 70% in 2022. Further, it's been at least a quarter of a century, if not much longer, since year-over-year pet spending in the U.S. declined. No matter what you throw at pet owners, they're always willing to open their wallets to ensure the health and happiness of their furry, feathered, scaled, and gilled family members.

Aside from operating in a highly defensive industry, what makes Chewy so great is its online focus. Partnering with over 3,000 brands and offering north of 100,000 products online, Chewy has made itself a go-to e-commerce shop for pet owners. Since it doesn't have to spend its time guessing what products to put in brick-and-mortar stores, Chewy is able to generate juicier gross margins than most traditional retail operators in the pet industry.

What's more, Chewy is using innovation to its advantage. The easiest way for investors to ride the Oracle of Omaha's coattails is to track Berkshire Hathaway's required quarterlyForm 13Ffilings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).IMAGE SOURCE: THE MOTLEY FOOL.Buffett's \"hidden\" portfolio purchased three fast-growing companies in the second quarterA 13F is essentially a snapshot of what the brightest money managers with at least $100 million in assets under management were holding at the end of the most recent quarter. It allows investors to see what these fund managers have been buying, selling, and holding, as well as establish what trends or industries are piquing the attention of professional money managers. Berkshire Hathaway filed its 13F exactly one week ago today, on Aug. 15.However, you might be surprised to learn that Berkshire Hathaway's 13F fails to tell the full story behind Buffett's direct and indirect holdings. For instance, you won't find any information about Warren Buffett's most-purchased stock over the past four years in Berkshire's 13F. That's because stock buybacks are only disclosed in the company's quarterly operating results. Since July 2018, Buffett and his right-hand man Charlie Munger have overseen the repurchase of $62.1 billion of Berkshire Hathaway's Class A and Class B (BRK.B) shares.Something else Berkshire Hathaway's 13F doesn't disclose is Warren Buffett's secret portfolio.Back in 1998, the Oracle of Omaha's company acquired reinsurer General Re for $22 billion. While the prize of this deal was the reinsurance operations, General Re also ran a specialty investment subsidiary known as New England Asset Management (NEAM). When the deal closed, NEAM and its assets under management became an owned entity of Berkshire Hathaway.Even though Buffett and his investment team don't oversee the $5.9 billion New England Asset Management has in assets under management (as of June 30), the securities NEAM owns are, ultimately, part of Berkshire Hathaway.According to New England Asset Management's latest 13F filing, Buffett's \"hidden\" portfolio bought three brand-new supercharged growth stocks.NvidiaAlthough the Oracle of Omaha isn't big on buying fast-growing tech stocks, he's now the proud indirect owner of shares of Nvidia. Providing solutions to next-generation vehicles, including autonomous vehicles, as well as offering a gateway to the metaverse with its professional visualization software, gives Nvidia supercharged growth potential from what are currently smaller revenue operating segments.IMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.NextEra EnergyThe second fast-paced growth stock added during the second quarter by Buffett's secret portfolio iselectric utility NextEra Energy. With up to $55 billion set aside for predominantly green energy projects between 2020 and 2022, and the company forecasting up to 36,900 megawatts of renewable energy projects in its backlog between 2022 and 2025, no other utility looks close to challenging NextEra as the renewable energy kingpin.Although wind, solar, and energy storage projects can be costly, the company was able to take advantage of years of historically low interest rates to advance its green energy push. NextEra has increased its payout for 28 consecutive years, with management anticipating double-digit percentage increases in the company's base annual distribution through 2024.ChewyThe third and final supercharged growth stock added to Warren Buffett's secret portfolio during the second quarter is online-based pet food and treats company Chewy. Further, it's been at least a quarter of a century, if not much longer, since year-over-year pet spending in the U.S. declined. No matter what you throw at pet owners, they're always willing to open their wallets to ensure the health and happiness of their furry, feathered, scaled, and gilled family members.Aside from operating in a highly defensive industry, what makes Chewy so great is its online focus. It recently partnered with Trupanion to introduce CarePlus, a health insurance and wellness plan that covers preventative care and surgeries. The addressable pet insurance market in the U.S. has hardly been penetrated. This should give Chewy and Trupanion a long runway to offer what should be a high-margin insurance product.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":107,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9067407177,"gmtCreate":1652493802799,"gmtModify":1676535111433,"author":{"id":"3582486329089537","authorId":"3582486329089537","name":"BC10","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582486329089537","authorIdStr":"3582486329089537"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] ","listText":"[Like] ","text":"[Like]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9067407177","repostId":"2235134123","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":332,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9086686969,"gmtCreate":1650449286744,"gmtModify":1676534726321,"author":{"id":"3582486329089537","authorId":"3582486329089537","name":"BC10","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582486329089537","authorIdStr":"3582486329089537"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] ","listText":"[Like] ","text":"[Like]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9086686969","repostId":"1154087680","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1154087680","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1650435720,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1154087680?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-04-20 14:22","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple Earnings Are Coming. As usual, the company will release its Q2 2022 earnings report then hold a conference call with investors and analysts to provide more details about the results.Apple shares have fared better than peers this year, falling 5.7% versus the 12.9% drop of the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 index.Apple stock nearly touched the $3 trillion mark again as recently as March 29. But since then, the share price has tumbled almost $14 apiece very quickly, to around $165. Apple is now 9% below all-time highs, a step away from entering correction territory.Last Quarter ReviewLast quarter, Apple reported a revenue record of $123.95 billion, up 11% year over year. The company reported profit of $34.6 billion and earnings per share of $2.10. It’s important to note that Apple itself had warned that it would be negatively impacted by supply constraints during the holiday quarter, but it appears to have weathered that storm quite well.Apple did not provide any official guidance for Q2 2022 due to uncertainty caused by manufacturing disruptions and the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Apple CFO Luca Maestri said in January that the“very strong customer response to our recent launch of new products and services drove double-digit growth in revenue and earnings.”Apple Faces Tough CompsIt will be hard for CEO Tim Cook and his team to impress analysts and investors this time. This is the case because Apple will face very tough comparisons against fiscal 2021 results that were outstanding. See quarterly revenue growth chart below.Apple's total revenue growth. DM Martins ResearchThe nearly 54% revenue increase delivered this time last year was driven, first and foremost, by 5G-equipped iPhones that were introduced late in 2020. Due to delays in the launch of the new device, quite a bit of smartphone shipments were shifted from the holiday period to fiscal Q2.The story did not end there, however. Mac and iPad sales increased by an impressive 70%-plus each. Both product categories benefited from the tail end of the pandemic-era lockdowns, as well as a hybrid-style return to office that boosted demand for PCs and tablets.None of the factors above will be in place this time—although smartphones may still see strength coming from a well-received iPhone 13 and the recent launch of the 5G version of the less expensive iPhone SE.Stock BuybacksIn a note published on April 12, Citigroup Inc. analyst Jim Suva estimated that the iPhone maker might announce a buyback of $80 billion to $90 billion, while also increasing its dividend by 5% to 10%.
