That said, investors should aware that the company is under investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for its share run-up, that was primarily orchestrated by the Reddit commmunity WallStreetBets (WSB).
\n
Many WSB traders publicly disclosed their identities while promoting the stock in the past six months, leading to them becoming prime targets for possible litigation or criminal investigations. Meanwhile, GameStop is taking advantage of the run-up to issue more stock at the expense of existing shareholders. Is the stock still a safe bet for potential investors?
\n
The good news
\n
GameStop had a spectacular quarter. In Q1 2021, the company closed down 12.7% of its roughly 4,000 stores in operations. Despite this, it managed to grow its sales by 25% year-over-year to $1.277 billion.
\n
At the same time, GameStop's operating loss narrowed to $21.6 million from $98.8 million a year ago. Thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime short squeeze, the company was able to offer additional equity to pay back all its debt and start afresh. It currently has more than $700 million in cash and investments on its balance sheet.
\n
The bad news
\n
After the earnings release, GameStop shares fell by as much as 27% in a single trading session. In addition, the company announced it would issue up to five million additional shares over a period of time, representing a dilution of up to 7% to its 70 million shares outstanding.
\n
That aside, there's the major risk of lawsuits against those involved in the coordinated \"pump and dump\" activities of the WSB community. Reddit user profiles of these traders are pretty much public. In fact, lawsuits have already been filed against prominent members of the community for allegedly promoting GameStop while the stock was at \"artificially high levels\".
\n
On June 9, the SEC announced it was probing GameStop concerning recent trading activities. While the investigation is still in its infancy, WSB members are growing increasingly concerned about legal and privacy issues from the fallout. The agency could potentially subpoena popular platforms like Reddit to access personal information/identities of members regarding their roles in the run-up. I believe this rapidly spreading fear, especially among those who are \"holding-on-for-dear-life\" (HODLers), is responsible for the sell-off.
\n
What's next?
\n
The same community that propped up GameStop's stock in a greed-fueled frenzy is equally capable of sending the shares crashing if fear takes center stage. While the company is generating solid growth, the company has a negative free cash flow of about $33.5 million per quarter, including a net cash outflow of nearly $19 million in operating activites. It's a noticeable improvement from $55.9 million negative FCF last year -- but still isn't good news yet. GameStop sold investors on the dream of a turnaround into an e-commerce giant and now has to live up to its reputation.
\n
There is a lot of uncertainty as to how profitable the new GameStop could be. Maybe its net margins will improve to 5% to 10%; perhaps it will hover around 0%, perhaps it will keep running at a loss for quite some time. After all, its gross margins actually fell 1.8 percentage points to 25.9% in Q1. Until the company can prove its new business model is working, it's probably better to look at retailers with both revenue growth and solid profitability instead.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Can You Still Count on GameStop Stock?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nCan You Still Count on GameStop Stock?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-23 10:50 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
GameStop (NYSE:GME) reported impressive revenue growth in Q1 2021, crushing the narrative that it's a failing brick-and-mortar video game retailer with a bleak outlook. That’s not probably not likely any time soon. But this was a key turning point for the Fed — with clear implications for investors.
\n
Here are the five key takeaways.
\n
1. You should now favor quality
\n
The Fed policy shift confirms we are moving toward the middle of the economic cycle from the early stage where rip-roaring growth is the norm – which benefits more speculative stocks. This means it’s time to favor quality in the stock market, says Emily Roland, the co-chief investment strategist at John Hancock Investment Management.
\n
What does “quality” mean? Companies with characteristics like better profit margins, strong balance sheets, good free cash flow and higher returns on equity, she says.
\n
You could set up a screen for all these qualities. But here’s a shortcut. “The sector that has highest overlap with quality is technology,” says Roland. “Technology can weather a more modest growth climate.”
\n
Roland declined to suggest individual names, but here are a few ideas. One is Asana ,which offers software that helps workers compartmentalize all the time vampires at work – like email and other communications — and better define and understand complex issues in the workplace like descriptions of who is responsible for what, the details of tasks on hand, and overarching missions and goals. The stock is up 123% from where I first highlighted it in my stock letter Brush Up on Stocks (link in my bio below) in November 2020, and 13% from where I just reiterated it on June 15.
\n
I suggested and bought this as a multiyear position, and it has more room to run from here, given the growth trends. Sales grew 61% in the first quarter, and company raised full-year guidance.
\n
Next, I recently reiterated Microsoft in my stock letter because of some insider buying and exposure to the cloud computing transition mega trend. You can see more on Microsoftin my overview here.
\n
2. Stay with reopening plays
\n
For Brian Barish, a portfolio manager at Cambiar Investors, the biggest takeaway on the Fed this week was its acknowledgement that extreme monetary accommodation needs to come to an end relatively soon. That’s good news.
\n
“There is a perception among a lot of people that the Fed has had a somewhat reckless posture,” says Barish. “It has had a policy consistent with another Great Financial Crisis type recession. In a very positive surprise, that is not what happened.”
\n
But while it’s due time to cut back stimulus, a more aggressive Fed also makes investors nervous because of the possibility for policy errors that create the next recession. Barish is not concerned about that just yet. So he’s sticking with reopening plays, like the casino company Penn National Gaming .Besides picking up business as people come out of hiding and visit casinos again, Penn National Gaming has solid exposure to online gaming through its ownership of Barstool Sports.
\n
“Online gaming is a big, long-term market. We are literally in the first inning,” he says. Only one of the big four states in the country — New York — has approved online gaming. Barish thinks California, Texas and Florida will also go along; the tax revenue is just too tempting.
\n
Barish is worth listening to because the Cambiar Opportunity Fund he helps manage beats its Morningstar large value category and Russell 1000 Value benchmark by 3.5 percentage points annualized over the past five years.
\n
Next, Barish likes Uber,,the ride-hailing software company. It has the advantage of size over competitor Lyft .New management has cut back on more speculative investment projects like flying taxis. “As we get to other side of the pandemic, Uber will be an indispensable service,” says Barish. You can seemy overview of Uber and Lyft here.
\n
Barish likes Sysco as a reopening play because it supplies food and equipment to restaurants. He also cites Bed Bath & Beyond in retail, a turnaround led by Anu Gupta who brings experience from Target. The home-goods chain is improving the business by reducing the number of products on offer, cutting back on coupons and introducing store brands.
\n
Sandy Villere, portfolio manager with Villere & Co. in New Orleans, also thinks it makes sense to stay with reopening plays — because the projected Fed rate hikes are in the distant future. “If rates are going to stay low until the end of 2023, that is still a long time to have low rates. I am not going to cash any time soon.”
\n
He likes the casino company Caesars Entertainment in part because it, too, has exposure to online gaming through its recent acquisition of William Hill. He also owns the bank First Hawaiian ,which should benefit from a lift to the Hawaiian economy as tourists come back.
\n
3. Be careful with meme stocks and cryptocurrencies
\n
The Fed sent a confusing mixed signal on Wednesday, points out Roland, the John Hancock Investment Management strategist. On the one hand, it clearly stated it thinks the recent inflation spike is transitory. This makes sense because a lot of the inflation spike is linked to supply-chain issues and shortages. The recent sharp rise in inflation is also a bit of a mirage since the comparison is to temporarily suppressed prices during the depths of the pandemic a year ago.
\n
But on the other hand, the Fed pulled forward the timeline for rate hikes. “If they believe inflation is transitory, why are they stepping up rate-hike expectations? One theory is the Fed is concerned about excesses in the market in meme stocks and cryptocurrencies,” says Roland.
\n
Excess liquidity created by the Fed and spending by politicians in Washington have clearly contributed to these pockets of speculative excess. The Fed may be interesting in curtailing the excesses contributing to huge spikes in bitcoin ,and stocks like GameStop and AMC Entertainment .
\n
4. Trim real estate, energy and materials stocks
\n
For Tim Murray a capital market strategist in the multi-asset division of T. Rowe Price, the big takeaway on the Fed last week is that it is getting more vigilant about inflation. “The Fed is no longer on autopilot,” he says.
\n
That’s bad news for areas of the market that benefit the most from inflation. This means companies with exposure to real assets that go up in value with inflation — like real estate, energy and materials. But Murray doesn’t think the Fed will be so vigilant that it stamps out economic growth. So, there’s life left in other cyclical stocks in sectors like industrials.
\n
5. That’s not probably not likely any time soon. But this was a key turning point for the Fed — with clear implications for investors.\nHere are the five key takeaways.\n1. You should now favor quality\nThe Fed policy shift confirms we are moving toward the middle of the economic cycle from the early stage where rip-roaring growth is the norm – which benefits more speculative stocks. This means it’s time to favor quality in the stock market, says Emily Roland, the co-chief investment strategist at John Hancock Investment Management.\nWhat does “quality” mean? Companies with characteristics like better profit margins, strong balance sheets, good free cash flow and higher returns on equity, she says.\nYou could set up a screen for all these qualities. But here’s a shortcut. “The sector that has highest overlap with quality is technology,” says Roland. “Technology can weather a more modest growth climate.”\nRoland declined to suggest individual names, but here are a few ideas. One is Asana ,which offers software that helps workers compartmentalize all the time vampires at work – like email and other communications — and better define and understand complex issues in the workplace like descriptions of who is responsible for what, the details of tasks on hand, and overarching missions and goals. The stock is up 123% from where I first highlighted it in my stock letter Brush Up on Stocks (link in my bio below) in November 2020, and 13% from where I just reiterated it on June 15.\nI suggested and bought this as a multiyear position, and it has more room to run from here, given the growth trends. Sales grew 61% in the first quarter, and company raised full-year guidance.\nNext, I recently reiterated Microsoft in my stock letter because of some insider buying and exposure to the cloud computing transition mega trend. You can see more on Microsoftin my overview here.\n2. Stay with reopening plays\nFor Brian Barish, a portfolio manager at Cambiar Investors, the biggest takeaway on the Fed this week was its acknowledgement that extreme monetary accommodation needs to come to an end relatively soon. That’s good news.\n“There is a perception among a lot of people that the Fed has had a somewhat reckless posture,” says Barish. “It has had a policy consistent with another Great Financial Crisis type recession. In a very positive surprise, that is not what happened.”\nBut while it’s due time to cut back stimulus, a more aggressive Fed also makes investors nervous because of the possibility for policy errors that create the next recession. Barish is not concerned about that just yet. So he’s sticking with reopening plays, like the casino company Penn National Gaming .Besides picking up business as people come out of hiding and visit casinos again, Penn National Gaming has solid exposure to online gaming through its ownership of Barstool Sports.\n“Online gaming is a big, long-term market. We are literally in the first inning,” he says. Only one of the big four states in the country — New York — has approved online gaming. Barish thinks California, Texas and Florida will also go along; the tax revenue is just too tempting.\nBarish is worth listening to because the Cambiar Opportunity Fund he helps manage beats its Morningstar large value category and Russell 1000 Value benchmark by 3.5 percentage points annualized over the past five years.\nNext, Barish likes Uber,,the ride-hailing software company. It has the advantage of size over competitor Lyft .New management has cut back on more speculative investment projects like flying taxis. “As we get to other side of the pandemic, Uber will be an indispensable service,” says Barish. You can seemy overview of Uber and Lyft here.\nBarish likes Sysco as a reopening play because it supplies food and equipment to restaurants. He also cites Bed Bath & Beyond in retail, a turnaround led by Anu Gupta who brings experience from Target. The home-goods chain is improving the business by reducing the number of products on offer, cutting back on coupons and introducing store brands.\nSandy Villere, portfolio manager with Villere & Co. in New Orleans, also thinks it makes sense to stay with reopening plays — because the projected Fed rate hikes are in the distant future. “If rates are going to stay low until the end of 2023, that is still a long time to have low rates. I am not going to cash any time soon.”\nHe likes the casino company Caesars Entertainment in part because it, too, has exposure to online gaming through its recent acquisition of William Hill. He also owns the bank First Hawaiian ,which should benefit from a lift to the Hawaiian economy as tourists come back.\n3. Be careful with meme stocks and cryptocurrencies\nThe Fed sent a confusing mixed signal on Wednesday, points out Roland, the John Hancock Investment Management strategist. On the one hand, it clearly stated it thinks the recent inflation spike is transitory. This makes sense because a lot of the inflation spike is linked to supply-chain issues and shortages. The recent sharp rise in inflation is also a bit of a mirage since the comparison is to temporarily suppressed prices during the depths of the pandemic a year ago.\nBut on the other hand, the Fed pulled forward the timeline for rate hikes. “If they believe inflation is transitory, why are they stepping up rate-hike expectations? One theory is the Fed is concerned about excesses in the market in meme stocks and cryptocurrencies,” says Roland.\nExcess liquidity created by the Fed and spending by politicians in Washington have clearly contributed to these pockets of speculative excess. The Fed may be interesting in curtailing the excesses contributing to huge spikes in bitcoin ,and stocks like GameStop and AMC Entertainment .\n4. Trim real estate, energy and materials stocks\nFor Tim Murray a capital market strategist in the multi-asset division of T. Rowe Price, the big takeaway on the Fed last week is that it is getting more vigilant about inflation. “The Fed is no longer on autopilot,” he says.\nThat’s bad news for areas of the market that benefit the most from inflation. This means companies with exposure to real assets that go up in value with inflation — like real estate, energy and materials. But Murray doesn’t think the Fed will be so vigilant that it stamps out economic growth. So, there’s life left in other cyclical stocks in sectors like industrials.\n5. Don’t lose sleep worrying about a taper tantrum\nTapering is on the table now, and it is likely to start by the end of the year. In the past, this has created big selloffs in the S&P 500 ,Nasdaq Composite and the Dow Jones Industrial Average – known as taper tantrums. Will we get a repeat?\n“Probably not,” says Murray. “In 2013 investors were not expecting it, whereas this time the Fed has been preparing everyone for it.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":311,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":165486945,"gmtCreate":1624154942087,"gmtModify":1703829576317,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Why so much FUD? That's understandable, with several of them delivering triple-digit and even four-digit percentage gains.
\n
However, what goes up can come down. Analysts don't expect the online frenzy fueling the ginormous jumps for some of the most popular stocks will be sustainable. Here are three meme stocks that Wall Street thinks will plunge by more than 20% within the next 12 months.
\n
AMC Entertainment
\n
AMC Entertainment(NYSE:AMC)ranks as the best-performing meme stock of all. Shares of the movie theater operator have skyrocketed close to 2,500% year to date.
\n
The consensus among analysts, though, is that the stock could lose 90% of its current value. Even the most optimistic analyst surveyed by Refinitiv has a price target for AMC that's more than 70% below the current share price.
\n
But isn't AMC's business picking up? Yep. The easing of restrictions has enabled the company to reopen 99% of its U.S. theaters. AMC could benefit as seating capacity limitations imposed by state and local governments are raised. Thereleases of multiple movies this summerand later this year that are likely to be hits should also help.
\n
However, Wall Street clearly believes that AMC's share price has gotten way ahead of its business prospects. The stock is trading at nearly eight times higher than it was before the COVID-19 pandemic.
\n
Clover Health Investments
\n
Only a few days ago, it looked like Clover Health Investments(NASDAQ:CLOV)might push AMC to the side as the hottest meme stock. Retail investors viewed Clover as a primeshort squeezecandidate.
\n
Since the beginning of June, shares of Clover Health have jumped more than 65%. Analysts, however, don't expect those gains to last. The average price target for the stock is 25% below the current share price.
\n
Clover Health's valuation does seem to have gotten out of hand. The healthcare stock currently trades at more than 170 times trailing-12-month sales. That's a nosebleed level, especially considering that the company is the subject of investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
\n
Still, Clover Health could deliver improving financial results this year. The company hopes to significantly increase its membership by targeting the original Medicare program. This represents a major new market opportunity in addition to its current Medicare Advantage business.
\n
Sundial Growers
\n
At one point earlier this year, Sundial Growers(NASDAQ:SNDL)appeared to be a legitimate contender to become the biggest winner among meme stocks. The Canadian marijuana stock vaulted more than 520% higher year to date before giving up much of its gains. However, Sundial's share price has still more than doubled in 2021.
\n
Analysts anticipate that the pot stock could fall even further. The consensus price target for Sundial reflects a 23% discount to its current share price. One analyst even thinks the stock could sink 55%.
\n
There certainly are reasons to be pessimistic about Sundial's core cannabis business. The company's net cannabis revenue fell year over year in the first quarter of 2021. Although Sundial is taking steps that it hopes will turn things around, it remains to be seen if those efforts will succeed.
\n
Sundial's business deals could give investors reasons for optimism. After all, the company posted positive adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) in Q1 due to its investments.
\n
However, the cash that Sundial is using to make these investments has come at the cost of increased dilution of its stock. The company can't afford any additional dilution without having to resort to desperate measures to keep its listing on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Meme Stocks Wall Street Predicts Will Plunge More Than 20%
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Meme Stocks Wall Street Predicts Will Plunge More Than 20%\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-19 09:13 GMT+8 fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Meme stocks have been all the rage so far this year. The company can't afford any additional dilution without having to resort to desperate measures to keep its listing on the Nasdaq stock exchange.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":388,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3576118384681891","authorId":"3576118384681891","name":"valueTrader","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9b20c817213be1647e2dee23f5d62e0d","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3576118384681891","authorIdStr":"3576118384681891"},"content":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ is ok too. overvalued but it could survive","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ is ok too. overvalued but it could survive","html":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ is ok too. overvalued but it could survive"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":162056005,"gmtCreate":1624028769207,"gmtModify":1703827122215,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$GameStop(GME)$sick discounts ","listText":"$GameStop(GME)$sick discounts ","text":"$GameStop(GME)$sick discounts","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/162056005","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":210,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":166707521,"gmtCreate":1624024377263,"gmtModify":1703826885680,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Time in market > timing the market(:","listText":"Time in market > timing the market(:","text":"Time in market > timing the market(:","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/166707521","repostId":"1118271544","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":211,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":166554946,"gmtCreate":1624019518785,"gmtModify":1703826700381,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Safety first entertainment 2nd","listText":"Safety first entertainment 2nd","text":"Safety first entertainment 2nd","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/166554946","repostId":"2144775754","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2144775754","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1624017000,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2144775754?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-18 19:50","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Disney's Reopening Is On Track, But What's Up With the Stock?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2144775754","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"A slight miss in Disney+ subscribers disappointed investors, but that's missing the forest for the trees.","content":"
Disney (NYSE:DIS) stock has doubled from its pandemic low in March 2020. But with the stock price, it's all about \"what have you done for me lately?\" Investors were disappointed with a \"miss\" on the Disney+ subscriber numbers from the most recent quarter, and the stock pulled back a bit after earnings. On this Motley Fool Live episode recorded on May 26, Motley Fool contributors Toby Bordelon and Brian Withers discuss the results from its recent quarter and whether the stock has \"priced in\" the reopening surge already.
\n
Toby Bordelon: Let's jump into the next stock here, and lets talk about Disney, what not to love? We got theme parks reopening. What's going on. We have California theme parks are open now. They opened at the end of April. They are heading to full capacity. June 1st of 4th, one of those. I can't remember the exact date, but next week or the week after, they will be at full capacity. This is fantastic.
\n
If you remember to pre-pandemic if you followed Disney, their biggest revenue segment was the theme parks, which also includes the cruise lines. But to have those parks getting back to full capacity is a very good thing. People are coming back to theaters. I saw a recent survey from a movie theater chain or Fandango I believe it was. The percentages are really high in terms of people who are going to theaters who want to go back, who are going to go see multiple movies at summer or plan to. That's a really good sign. Marvel's Phase Four is about to kick off in the theaters. We got a couple of new shows on Disney+ Loki starting up, beginning in June.
\n
But let's talk about one thing. Let's highlight one thing here. The recent earnings report with a little bit disappointing to some investors because of those Disney+ numbers. What were those numbers? They came in at 104 million subscribers, and were expecting 109 million, and so were quibbling at about a five percent difference. When if you look at what's happened in the past year-and-a-half, Disney+ has gone from 0-104 million in about 17 months. That's amazing and I don't want to, I think if you are quibbling over five million, you're missing the point here. They'll outperform Netflix in the quarter in terms of additional subscribers. ESPN+ seems to be growing, which is strange when we think about because that's the one that probably has the least amount of original content. They are doing well, average revenue per user is growing at that at ESPN+ turn, churn at Disney+ is not a problem. They seem to be doing quite well there. I think this company is doing fine. I don't think anyone should worry about this, and future looks good for them.
\n
Brian Withers: That's an exciting update. Toby, I love to see the parks coming back open again. But the market has already priced a lot of this reopening already into the stock. I looked at the stock prices from March of 2020, mid-March when the coronavirus really came in and started to shut things down. Disney [stock] has doubled since then. Do you think we could see Disney shares priced lower a year from now?
\n
Toby Bordelon: It's certainly possible. Like you said, there is a lot of priced in right now. But I think we may be surprised when we get to the end of this year about the rebound surge of the theme parks and the movie theaters. I'm not sure that even with pricing in this reopening trade as it were, that we're really capturing the fullness of what Disney can do.
\n
Look at those theme parks. We got the Star Wars hotel that's opening up, which is a multi-day experience that you stay in this hotel and you don't leave. The new Avengers Campus at Disneyland, I think that's opening up beginning of June as well. There is a lot going on to both bringing people back and to potentially bring in a new segment of people who might not have been big fans of Disneyland, Disney World parks before with The Avengers and Star Wars stuff. This is a major entertainment juggernaut and that's not going to change anytime soon. Maybe you see a little bit of drop-off in the stock price, but it's not something I would worry about really.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Disney's Reopening Is On Track, But What's Up With the Stock?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nDisney's Reopening Is On Track, But What's Up With the Stock?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-18 19:50 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Disney (NYSE:DIS) stock has doubled from its pandemic low in March 2020. The video game retailer plummeted 27% on Thursday, but it moved nicely higher the other four days of the week -- trimming its weeklong decline to just 6%.
\n
AMC closed out the week with a 3% gain, following the 83% burst higher the week before. The multiplex operator is benefiting from a surge in box office receipts, but they continue to track at less than half of where the industry was two years ago.
\n
Finally we have Carnival sinking 2% for the week. Cruise stocks have been buoyant ahead of a return to sailing this month, but we're already seeing COVID-19 cases pop up in the limited number of voyages taking place so far.
\n
\n
Those three stocks averaged a 1.7% decline for the week. The S&P 500 rose by 0.4% in that time, so I won. Right now, I see Royal Caribbean (NYSE:RCL), AMC Entertainment Holdings, and Osprey Bitcoin Trust (OTC:OBTC) as vulnerable investments in the near term. Here's why I think these are three stocks to avoid this week.
\n
\n
1. Royal Caribbean
\n
This was supposed to be the summer that the cruise industry finally roars back into being, but we're already seeing some choppy waters. Royal Caribbean's Celebrity Millennium became the first major cruise ship available to North American seafarers earlier this month since the industry shut down last March. A few days into the maiden voyage, a pair of passengers contracted the COVID-19 virus.
\n
There's also an operational standoff in Royal Caribbean's home state of Florida, where the governor is threatening to fine cruise lines for requiring vaccinations of its passengers. It's a Catch-22 for the industry, as the CDC requires at least 95% of a ship's passengers to be fully vaccinated to resume sailings without having to go through a series of costly test cruises.
\n
Royal Caribbean is my favorite of the three cruise lines as an investment, but it's also held up the best during the lull. With the reopening off to a bumpy start it also makes the stock vulnerable here.
\n
2. AMC Entertainment
\n
I'm a fan of a lot that AMC Entertainment has done to get bet better at a time when many of its smaller rivals have been merely walking in place. The country's largest multiplex operator has upped its seat reservations and mobile order tech and carved out a new revenue stream with actively promoted private rentals. The new Investor Connect program is sheer genius, monetizing its newborn attention as a meme stock with millions of retail investors by trying to convert them into customers.
\n
However, after ballooning its share count north of 500 million -- and the stock still moving higher -- there will eventually be a price to be paid in terms of valuation. AMC Entertainment enters this week with an enterprise value above $35 billion, and sooner or later someone is going to have to pay the tab at the end of the party.
\n
AMC is doing the right things to stay on top of a declining industry, but it's not enough to justify today's sticker price. This has historically been a low-margin business -- in the low single digits for net margin most years -- despite the markup on concessions. You'll see a year-over-year bounce this year, but we may never return to 2019 as a baseline. Theatrical release windows are being shattered by streaming initiatives. AMC has bloated its debt levels and share count to stay alive, but all of this comes at a price that right now seems too dear to pay.
\n
3. Osprey Bitcoin Trust
\n
I believe in keeping a small percent of your risk-tolerant portfolio in crypto, but not every vehicle is in the same boat. Osprey Bitcoin Trust offers investors a low-cost way to play the popularity of Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) in a stock exchange-listed vehicle.
\n
Osprey Bitcoin Trust is a lot smaller than the market's original Bitcoin-owning trust, and it's also trading at an unsustainable premium. The video game retailer plummeted 27% on Thursday, but it moved nicely higher the other four days of the week -- trimming its weeklong decline to just 6%.\nAMC closed out the week with a 3% gain, following the 83% burst higher the week before. The multiplex operator is benefiting from a surge in box office receipts, but they continue to track at less than half of where the industry was two years ago.\nFinally we have Carnival sinking 2% for the week. Cruise stocks have been buoyant ahead of a return to sailing this month, but we're already seeing COVID-19 cases pop up in the limited number of voyages taking place so far.\n\nThose three stocks averaged a 1.7% decline for the week. The S&P 500 rose by 0.4% in that time, so I won. Right now, I see Royal Caribbean (NYSE:RCL), AMC Entertainment Holdings, and Osprey Bitcoin Trust (OTC:OBTC) as vulnerable investments in the near term. Here's why I think these are three stocks to avoid this week.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. Royal Caribbean\nThis was supposed to be the summer that the cruise industry finally roars back into being, but we're already seeing some choppy waters. Royal Caribbean's Celebrity Millennium became the first major cruise ship available to North American seafarers earlier this month since the industry shut down last March. A few days into the maiden voyage, a pair of passengers contracted the COVID-19 virus.\nThere's also an operational standoff in Royal Caribbean's home state of Florida, where the governor is threatening to fine cruise lines for requiring vaccinations of its passengers. It's a Catch-22 for the industry, as the CDC requires at least 95% of a ship's passengers to be fully vaccinated to resume sailings without having to go through a series of costly test cruises.\nRoyal Caribbean is my favorite of the three cruise lines as an investment, but it's also held up the best during the lull. With the reopening off to a bumpy start it also makes the stock vulnerable here.\n2. AMC Entertainment\nI'm a fan of a lot that AMC Entertainment has done to get bet better at a time when many of its smaller rivals have been merely walking in place. The country's largest multiplex operator has upped its seat reservations and mobile order tech and carved out a new revenue stream with actively promoted private rentals. The new Investor Connect program is sheer genius, monetizing its newborn attention as a meme stock with millions of retail investors by trying to convert them into customers.\nHowever, after ballooning its share count north of 500 million -- and the stock still moving higher -- there will eventually be a price to be paid in terms of valuation. AMC Entertainment enters this week with an enterprise value above $35 billion, and sooner or later someone is going to have to pay the tab at the end of the party.\nAMC is doing the right things to stay on top of a declining industry, but it's not enough to justify today's sticker price. This has historically been a low-margin business -- in the low single digits for net margin most years -- despite the markup on concessions. You'll see a year-over-year bounce this year, but we may never return to 2019 as a baseline. Theatrical release windows are being shattered by streaming initiatives. AMC has bloated its debt levels and share count to stay alive, but all of this comes at a price that right now seems too dear to pay.\n3. Osprey Bitcoin Trust\nI believe in keeping a small percent of your risk-tolerant portfolio in crypto, but not every vehicle is in the same boat. Osprey Bitcoin Trust offers investors a low-cost way to play the popularity of Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) in a stock exchange-listed vehicle.\nOsprey Bitcoin Trust is a lot smaller than the market's original Bitcoin-owning trust, and it's also trading at an unsustainable premium. Osprey's mark-up to its stake of Bitcoin tokens has been contracting since hitting the market earlier this year, and I was starting to get interested when the premium narrowed to 12% a week ago.\nThe mark-up is going the wrong way again. Osprey Bitcoin Trust owns what is currently $12.68 in Bitcoin, but it closed last week at $14.95. Is an 18% premium worth it when the much larger -- but admittedly more high-cost -- Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (OTC:GBTC) is fetching an 11% discount to its net asset value?\nIf you're looking for safe stocks, you aren't likely to find them in Royal Caribbean, AMC Entertainment, and Osprey Bitcoin Trust this week.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":506,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":183965576,"gmtCreate":1623301228495,"gmtModify":1704200430058,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wonder what new services would grab bring to the table","listText":"Wonder what new services would grab bring to the table","text":"Wonder what new services would grab bring to the table","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/183965576","repostId":"1117452441","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":340,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":180518995,"gmtCreate":1623211917617,"gmtModify":1704198465906,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Seems like another \"temporary\" move away then come back later ","listText":"Seems like another \"temporary\" move away then come back later ","text":"Seems like another \"temporary\" move away then come back later","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/180518995","repostId":"1171189195","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":400,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":180513164,"gmtCreate":1623211796358,"gmtModify":1704198463106,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Meme Trading seems to have overtaken TA trading. pretty vulnerable right now.","content":"
In last week's article on three stocks to avoid, I predicted that GameStop (NYSE:GME), AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC), and Carnival (NYSE:CCL) would have a rough few days.
\n
\n
GameStop lived up to my prediction on tumbling the day after reporting quarterly results, something that has now happened in 10 of the past 11 reports.
Is an 18% premium worth it when the much larger -- but admittedly more high-cost -- Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (OTC:GBTC) is fetching an 11% discount to its net asset value?\nIf you're looking for safe stocks, you aren't likely to find them in Royal Caribbean, AMC Entertainment, and Osprey Bitcoin Trust this week.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":506,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":117104587,"gmtCreate":1623120309649,"gmtModify":1704196501948,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I guess travel in 2022...","listText":"I guess travel in 2022...","text":"I guess travel in 2022...","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/117104587","repostId":"2141251669","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":290,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":165486945,"gmtCreate":1624154942087,"gmtModify":1703829576317,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Why so much FUD?
Maybe you see a little bit of drop-off in the stock price, but it's not something I would worry about really.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":231,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":180518995,"gmtCreate":1623211917617,"gmtModify":1704198465906,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Seems like another \"temporary\" move away then come back later ","listText":"Seems like another \"temporary\" move away then come back later ","text":"Seems like another \"temporary\" move away then come back later","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/180518995","repostId":"1171189195","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1171189195","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623208617,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1171189195?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-09 11:16","market":"fut","language":"en","title":"Institutions Turn Bearish On Bitcoin As Weekly Outflows Reach Record $141M: CoinShares Report","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1171189195","media":"benzinga","summary":"What Happened:According to the latest report fromCoinShares, institutional investors withdrew $141 m","content":"
What Happened:According to the latest report fromCoinShares, institutional investors withdrew $141 million fromBitcoin(CRYPTO: BTC) funds over the past week.

Meanwhile,Ethereum(CRYPTO: ETH) remained “the altcoin of choice” for investors as inflows into Ethereum investment products totaled $33 million over the past week.

CoinShares noted that the negative sentiment was focused on Bitcoin, as this week marked the largest single week of outflows in its history.

“Digital asset investment product trading volumes highlight investors remain cautious in Bitcoin with weekly volumes having fallen 62% compared to last month.
\n
5. Don’t lose sleep worrying about a taper tantrum
\n
Tapering is on the table now, and it is likely to start by the end of the year. In the past, this has created big selloffs in the S&P 500 ,Nasdaq Composite and the Dow Jones Industrial Average – known as taper tantrums. Will we get a repeat?
\n
“Probably not,” says Murray. “In 2013 investors were not expecting it, whereas this time the Fed has been preparing everyone for it.”
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Opinion: 5 smart ways to shift your investments as the Fed gets ready for a big move
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nOpinion: 5 smart ways to shift your investments as the Fed gets ready for a big move\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-21 11:26 GMT+8 marketwatch\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Fed policymakers surprised a lot of investors on Wednesday by signaling that tapering and interest-rate hikes are finally on the way.\nInvestors sat up and noticed because “taking away the punch bowl” ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"CZR":"凯撒娱乐","GME":"游戏驿站","LYFT":"Lyft, Inc.","PENN":"佩恩国民博彩","ASAN":"阿莎娜","UBER":"优步","MSFT":"微软","BBBY":"3B家居","FHB":"First Hawaiian Inc.","AMC":"AMC院线","SYY":"西思科公司"},"source_url":"https://www.marketwatch.com/story/5-smart-ways-to-shift-your-investments-as-the-fed-gets-ready-for-a-big-move-11624028517?mod=newsviewer_click","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1113916113","content_text":"Fed policymakers surprised a lot of investors on Wednesday by signaling that tapering and interest-rate hikes are finally on the way.\nInvestors sat up and noticed because “taking away the punch bowl” has doomed many a growth cycle. “In 2013 investors were not expecting it, whereas this time the Fed has been preparing everyone for it.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":311,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":183965576,"gmtCreate":1623301228495,"gmtModify":1704200430058,"author":{"id":"3582665698210387","authorId":"3582665698210387","name":"SeanInvest","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08e14b09f31938b73b913001596756c6","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582665698210387","authorIdStr":"3582665698210387"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wonder what new services would grab bring to the table","listText":"Wonder what new services would grab bring to the table","text":"Wonder what new services would grab bring to the table","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/183965576","repostId":"1117452441","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1117452441","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623294390,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1117452441?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-10 11:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Grab and GoTo IPOs could spawn more Southeast Asian startups, says venture capital firm","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1117452441","media":"cnbc","summary":"SINGAPORE — The public listings for two of Southeast Asia's tech giants will likely pave the way for","content":"
\n
SINGAPORE — The public listings for two of Southeast Asia's tech giants will likely pave the way for more high-growth businesses to emerge from the region, said venture capital firm 500 Startups.\n...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Meanwhile, thenewly-merged Indonesia on-demand platform GoTo Groupconfirmed to CNBC that it would go public this year.\n\"While there will be (mergers and acquisitions), while these companies will acquire smaller start-ups, they're going to invest in far more companies than they acquire, and it's going to lead to a lot more billion-dollar companies — or unicorns — being born as a result of that,\" Harnal told \"Street Signs Asia\"Monday.\n\n They're going to invest in far more companies than they acquire, and it's going to lead to a lot more billion-dollar companies.Vishal HarnalMANAGING PARTNER, 500 STARTUPS\n\nThat's because the founders of successful companies will have newfound liquidity to invest in the ecosystem, either actively or as angel investors — those who invest in early stage businesses. Meanwhile, staff who have seen their employers grow from seed funding to IPO may be more inclined to build their own companies.\nHarnal likened the process to that which played out in China among its famous tech stocks known collectively as BAT –Baidu,Alibaba and Tencent.\nA passenger takes a ride on a Gojek motorcycle taxi in Jakarta on May 24, 2018.Bay Ismoyo | AFP | Getty Images\nAccording to 500 Startups research, out of the nearly 150 active and former unicorns created in China, 40% were invested by BAT companies. In total, BAT companies have invested in 915 tech companies since going public.\nIn contrast, there was less than half that number of mergers and acquisitions, with just 14 occurring in companies worth more than $1 billion.\n\"We saw this happening in China with BAT – Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent.
