Now looks like a good time to buy a few growth stocks with great potential.","content":"
If you're a tech investor, you've probably seen some red in your portfolio recently. Fears over inflation have sparked a sell-off, dragging many growth stocks down in the process. Of course, it's natural to panic, but that's not very productive.
\n
Instead, think of this as a buying opportunity. For instance, Cloudflare (NYSE:NET) and Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) have each fallen over 20% from their 52-week highs, but both look like good long-term investments. Here's why you should consider buying these two growth stocks on the dip.
\n
1. Cloudflare: Cloud computing
\n
Cloudflare is a cloud services provider that makes the internet faster, more reliable, and more secure. Its global network spans 200 cities, and supports nearly 17% of the internet as of April 2021, according to W3Techs. Those are incredible statistics, but they mean more in context. So let's look at a recent product launch.
\n
\n
Traditionally, corporations have taken a castle-and-moat approach to networks: All resources were stored on-site, all employees worked in the office, and all incoming and outgoing connections were filtered through central hardware (e.g. firewall boxes, internet gateways). But this model is no longer efficient or effective, since more employees are working remotely and more enterprises rely on cloud computing.
\n
In 2020, Cloudflare launched Cloudflare for Teams to solve this problem. This product is built around Cloudflare Access and Cloudflare Gateway, enabling employees to securely access corporate resources and the open internet whether they are in the office or working remotely.
\n
Moreover, Cloudflare's global network offers performance at a scale that would be impossible for most enterprises to achieve on their own. Fears over inflation have sparked a sell-off, dragging many growth stocks down in the process. Of course, it's natural to panic, but that's not very productive.\nInstead, think of this as a buying opportunity. For instance, Cloudflare (NYSE:NET) and Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) have each fallen over 20% from their 52-week highs, but both look like good long-term investments. Here's why you should consider buying these two growth stocks on the dip.\n1. Cloudflare: Cloud computing\nCloudflare is a cloud services provider that makes the internet faster, more reliable, and more secure. Its global network spans 200 cities, and supports nearly 17% of the internet as of April 2021, according to W3Techs. Those are incredible statistics, but they mean more in context. So let's look at a recent product launch.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nTraditionally, corporations have taken a castle-and-moat approach to networks: All resources were stored on-site, all employees worked in the office, and all incoming and outgoing connections were filtered through central hardware (e.g. firewall boxes, internet gateways). But this model is no longer efficient or effective, since more employees are working remotely and more enterprises rely on cloud computing.\nIn 2020, Cloudflare launched Cloudflare for Teams to solve this problem. This product is built around Cloudflare Access and Cloudflare Gateway, enabling employees to securely access corporate resources and the open internet whether they are in the office or working remotely.\nMoreover, Cloudflare's global network offers performance at a scale that would be impossible for most enterprises to achieve on their own. It also eliminates the need for costly on-site hardware. Put another way, Cloudflare for Teams is faster and cheaper than legacy network security solutions.\nBeyond this example, Cloudflare offers a range of other products -- everything from serverless computing to streaming video platforms -- all of which are designed to enhance performance and security.\nIn total, management believes the company's market opportunity will grow at 9% per year, rising from $72 billion in 2020 to $100 billion by 2024. But Cloudflare's revenue is growing much faster, meaning the company is gaining market share.\n\n\n\nMetric\n2017\nQ1 2021 (TTM)\nCAGR\n\n\n\n\nCustomers\n49,309\n119,206\n31%\n\n\nRevenue\n$135 million\n$478 million\n48%\n\n\n\nData source: Cloudflare SEC filings. TTM = trailing-12-months. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.\nGoing forward, investors should pay attention to Cloudflare's ability to maintain its momentum. The company faces competition from legacy providers like Akamai and public cloud titans like Amazon Web Services. However, Cloudflare is currently growing more quickly than both. That's why this growth stock is a buy for long-term investors.\n2. Shopify: E-commerce\nCreating an e-commerce website is complicated, especially if you're not a software developer. And managing a business is even more complicated since you need a way to process payments, manage inventory, fulfill and ship orders, and run ad campaigns.\nShopify removes all of this complexity, simplifying commerce. Amazon and other companies have been accused of avoiding tax by shifting revenue and profits through tax havens or low-tax countries. The companies insist they’re doing nothing wrong from a legal standpoint, which is why policymakers are calling for reforms.Amazon infamously paid no U.S. federal income tax in 2018, despite booking more than $11 billion in profits. The low tax bill stemmed largely from tax cuts in 2017, carryforward losses from years when the company wasn’t profitable, and tax credits for massive research and development investment and share-based employee compensation. Some countries, such as Britain, France and Italy, have introduced a digital services tax in an effort to rake in more cash from large tech firms. What That Means for AMC Stock","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2151892500","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Movie releases on the July 9 weekend helped AMC reported its biggest crowds since before the pandemic.","content":"
Blockbuster movies have returned to the movie theaters and not a moment too soon for AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC). The international theater chain was one of the hardest-hit companies during the pandemic. Nearly all of its revenue comes from bringing folks together in one room to watch films on a large screen.
\n
Its business was devastated when it had to shut its doors to the viewing public as the world tried to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Major studios either delayed the release of big-ticket films or sent them straight to streaming services, a move that was slowing AMC's sales recovery even as it reopened theaters.
\n
Blockbusters are back
\n
The July 9 weekend could mark a turning point in the bounce back for movie theater chain AMC. Buoyed by the release of the long-delayed blockbuster film Black Widow from Walt Disney, AMC reported a post-reopening record with 3.2 million moviegoers over the weekend.
\n
According to estimates, Black Widow generated $158 million in box office sales worldwide. Additionally, another blockbuster from Comcast's Universal Pictures, F9: The Fast Saga, has earned $542 million. That's just the beginning. More films are on the way as studios have stopped delaying releases.
\n
It looks as though AMC has made it through the worst of the pandemic. There were moments during the most acute phases of lockdowns when the company's survival was in jeopardy. Management can be commended for urgently raising cash and cutting costs, and ensuring it had the resources to make it through.
\n
Fundamentals matter
\n
Some of the capital the company raised during the pandemic was through borrowing. Its balance sheet has swelled to contain $5.4 billion in debt, and in the most recent quarter, the company paid interest expenses of $151.5 million. Annualized, its interest expense will be over $600 million.
\n
What makes that figure troublesome is that the most annual operating income AMC earned over the last decade was $310 million. So while it's great news that big-ticket movies are returning to movie theaters, AMC still has a lot of work to do before it fully bounces back. For instance, even if it matches its pre-pandemic high of $310 million in operating income, AMC will likely still report a loss on the bottom line because of the interest expense.
\n
Missed opportunity
\n
Management understands the company's issues and is working on raising equity, presumably to pay down debt. It set forth a proposal to shareholders to authorize more shares for sale but withdrew the proposal in the face of negative feedback. Shareholders had the opportunity to help improve the long-run prospects of AMC but were not interested in the idea.
\n
The fear was that the additional supply of shares in the market could drive down the stock price. And the short-term share price movement appears to be more of a concern for investors in AMC than the long-term fundamentals of the company.
\n
AMC's role as the focal point for a group of retail traders on Reddit makes the stock trade at a price that appears to be divorced from fundaments. As a result, AMC's stock price could continue higher despite its apparent poor financial circumstances.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Summer Blockbusters Are Back! The cryptocurrency uses more energy than entire countries such as Sweden and Malaysia, according to the Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index.\nTo understand why bitcoin is so energy-intensive, you have to look at its underlying technology, the blockchain.\nBitcoin's public ledger is decentralized, meaning it isn't controlled by any single authority. It's constantly being updated by a network of computers around the world.\nSo-called miners run purpose-built computers to solve complex math puzzles in order to make a transaction go through. This is the only way to mint new bitcoins.\nMiners do not run this operation for free. They have to shell out huge sums on specialized equipment. A key incentive of bitcoin's model, known as \"proof of work,\" is the promise of being rewarded in some bitcoin if you manage to solve its complex hashing algorithm.\nIt's worth noting thatdogecoin, which has risen wildly in price lately on the back of support from Musk, also uses a proof-of-work mechanism.\nCarol Alexander, a professor at the University of Sussex Business School, explains that bitcoin's mining \"difficulty\" — a measure of the computational effort it takes to mine bitcoin — has been going \"up and up\" over the last three years.\n\"More and more electricity is being used,\" Alexander told CNBC. \"That means that the network difficulty will also be going up (and) more miners are coming in because the hash rate's going up.\"\nBitcoin's price is up almost 70% so far this year. As it goes up in price, the revenue to miners also increases, incentivizing more participants to mine the cryptocurrency.\nMeanwhile, Musk isn't the only one who's worried about the environmental impact of bitcoin. In February, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned that the digital coin is \"extremely inefficient\" for making transactions and uses a \"staggering\" amount of power.\nDoes bitcoin actually harm the environment?\nIt's complicated. On the one hand, bitcoin's network uses anunfathomable amount of energy. Much of the mining of bitcoin is concentrated in China, whose economy is still heavily reliant on coal.\nLast month, a coal mine in the Xinjiang region flooded and shut down. This took nearly a quarter of bitcoin's hash rate — or computing power — offline, according to crypto industry publicationCoinDesk.\nIn March, China's Inner Mongolia region said it wouldshut down cryptocurrency mining operationsin the region due to concerns over energy consumption.\nOn the other side of the debate, bitcoin investors have attempted to push back on the narrative that it's harmful for the environment.\nWhile it's difficult to determine the energy mix that powers bitcoin, some in the crypto industry say miners are incentivized to use renewables as it's getting cheaper to produce them. In China, the province of Sichuan is known to attract miners due to its cheap electricity and rich hydropower resources.\nLast month,Jack Dorsey'sfintech companySquareand Cathie Wood's Ark Invest put out amemoclaiming that bitcoin will actually drive renewable energy innovation. However, critics said they had avested interestin doing so.\nAlexander said the debate around bitcoin's environmental impact was misguided as most transactions with the digital asset aren't happening on the blockchain.\n\"Almost all the trading is not done on the blockchain,\" she said. \"It's done on secondary markets, centralized exchanges. They're not even recorded on the blockchain.\"\nESG concerns\nRegardless of whether bitcoin is actually a polluter or not, the negative connotations around its energy consumption have worried investors conscious of companies' ethical and environmental responsibilities.\nESG, or environmental, social and corporate governance, has become agrowing trendin financial markets, with portfolio managers increasingly incorporating sustainable investments into their strategies.\nSome Tesla shareholders may be worried that the company is betting big on bitcoin while also claiming to be a green energy company.\n\"Bitcoin backers will be wondering where this leaves the future of the cryptocurrency,\" Laith Khalaf, a financial analyst at investment firm AJ Bell, said in a note Thursday.\n\"Environmental matters are an incredibly sensitive subject right now, and Tesla's move might serve as a wake-up call to businesses and consumers using Bitcoin, who hadn't hitherto considered its carbon footprint,\" Khalaf added.\n\"Tesla's decision certainly puts pressure on other big companies who accept Bitcoin to review their practices, because boardrooms will now be wary about getting it in the ear from ESG investors on the shareholder register.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":41,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":101630607,"gmtCreate":1619892234109,"gmtModify":1704336090251,"author":{"id":"3582677906196688","authorId":"3582677906196688","name":"JunHao1992","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f2db6c2ed69f8bfef5fde78885cc0a2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582677906196688","authorIdStr":"3582677906196688"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/101630607","repostId":"1142063705","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1142063705","pubTimestamp":1619796118,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1142063705?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-30 23:21","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Europe's antitrust crackdown on Apple hints at what's coming for the company in the U.S.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1142063705","media":"CNBC","summary":"For a long time, the European Commission seemed to stand apart from the U.S. in cracking down on tech giants with antitrust fines againstGoogleand privacy rules like the General Data Protection Regulation.“The Commission’s argument onSpotify’sbehalf is the opposite of fair competition,” Apple said in a statement following Vestager’s announcement, referring to the music streaming company that raised the competition complaint. Apple said Spotify wants “all the benefits of the App Store but don’t think they should have to pay anything for that,” by choosing to object to its 15-30% commission on in-app payments for streaming apps.\nApple isn’t currently facing any antitrust charges from government officials in the U.S. and such a lawsuit may never materialize, though the Department of Justice wasreportedly granted oversight of the company’s competitive practices in 2019. But even if the government declines to press charges, recent actions in Congress, state legislatures and in private lawsuits demonstrate a significant shift in the American public’s sentiment toward Apple and the tech industry at large.\nWhen the commissionslapped its first record competition fineagainstGooglein 2017, it wasn’t yet clear that the U.S. might be ready to move on from its once-cozy relationship with its booming tech industry. But in 2018, on the heels of the revelations of howFacebookuser data was used by analytics company Cambridge Analytica during the 2016 election, and increasing questions about how tech platforms can impact American democracy, that seemed to change.\nNow, as Europe continues to move forward with its probe into Apple, the U.S. no longer seems to be so far behind.\nHere’s where Apple stands to face risk of antitrust action or regulation in the U.S.:\nDOJ\nThe DOJ has already moved forward with a massive lawsuit against Google, so it could take some time if it decides to ramp up a probe into Apple. Though the DOJ’s Antitrust Division took on oversight authority of Apple in a 2019 agreement with the FTC, according to aWall Street Journal report, the Google investigation has seemed to take priority.\nStill, then-Attorney General Bill Barr announced later that year that the DOJ wouldconduct a broad antitrust review of Big Tech companies.\nAny action from the DOJ or state enforcers would take the form of a settlement or lawsuit, which would put Apple’s fate in the hands of the courts.\nPrivate lawsuits\nApple’s most immediate challenge in the U.S. has come from private companies bringing antitrust charges against its business in court.\nThe most notable of these lawsuits isfrom Fortnite-maker Epic Games, which is set to begin its trial on Monday. Epic filed its lawsuit with a PR blitz afterchallenging Apple’s in-app payment feeby advertising in its app an alternative, cheaper way to buy character outfits from Epic directly, violating Apple’s rules. That prompted Apple to remove Fortnite from its App Store. Epic filed the suit shortly after and Applefiled counterclaimsagainst Epic for allegedly breaching its contract.\n“Although Epic portrays itself as a modern corporate Robin Hood, in reality it is a multi-billion dollar enterprise that simply wants to pay nothing for the tremendous value it derives from the App Store,” Apple said in a filing with the District Court for the Northern District of California in September.\nCongress\nJust last week, several app-makers testified before the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust about the alleged anti-competitive harms they’ve facedfrom restrictions on both Apple and Google’s app stores.\nRepresentatives from Apple and Google told lawmakers they simply charge for the technology and the work they put into running the app stores, which have significantly lowered distribution costs for app developers over the years.\nBut witnesses from Tinder-ownerMatch Group, item-tracking device-maker Tile and Spotify painted a different picture.\n“We’re all afraid,” Match Group chief legal officer Jared Sine testified of the platforms’ broad power over their businesses.\nThe witnesses discussed the seemingly arbitrary nature by which Apple allegedly enforces its App Store rules. Spotify’s legal chief claimed Apple has threatened retaliation on numerous occasions and Tile’s top lawyer said Apple denied access to a key feature that wouldimprove their object-tracking product, before utilizing it for Apple’s own rival gadget, called AirTag.\nTile said that while Apple now makes the feature available for third-party developers to incorporate, accessing it would mean handing over a significant amount of data and control to Apple. Apple’s representative said its product is different from Tile’s and opening the feature in question will encourage further competition in the space.\nSenators at the hearing seemed receptive to the app developers’ complaints, which build on earlier claims made before House lawmakers. The House Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust found in a more than year-long probe thatAmazon, Apple, Facebook and Googleall hold monopoly power, and lawmakers are currently crafting bills to enable stronger antitrust enforcement of digital markets.\nState Legislatures\nSeveral state legislatures have beenconsidering bills that would require platforms like Apple and Google to allow app-makers to use their own payment processing systems. While the bills have so far hadvarying degrees of successin the early stages of lawmaking, passage in one state could raise a host of questions about how it should be enforced given the ambiguous nature of digital borders.\nThe bills have been supported by the Coalition for App Fairness, a group of companies that have complained about app store fees, including Epic Games, Match Group and Spotify.\nApple has often argued that it maintains features like payments within its own ecosystem in order to protect consumers and secure their data, though app developers and lawmakers have expressed skepticism about that reasoning.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":193,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":803158059,"gmtCreate":1627429309371,"gmtModify":1703489643199,"author":{"id":"3582677906196688","authorId":"3582677906196688","name":"JunHao1992","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f2db6c2ed69f8bfef5fde78885cc0a2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582677906196688","authorIdStr":"3582677906196688"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Micron Technology(MU)$damm","listText":"$Micron Technology(MU)$damm","text":"$Micron Technology(MU)$damm","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/74f077036ecf0817eefaec323a01e9d2","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/803158059","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":461,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":157823944,"gmtCreate":1625578515988,"gmtModify":1703744168090,"author":{"id":"3582677906196688","authorId":"3582677906196688","name":"JunHao1992","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4f2db6c2ed69f8bfef5fde78885cc0a2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582677906196688","authorIdStr":"3582677906196688"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/157823944","repostId":"2149368527","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2149368527","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1625576400,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2149368527?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-06 21:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Israel says Pfizer's COVID-19 shot is 64% effective against the infections from the delta variant","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2149368527","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"MW Israel says Pfizer's COVID-19 shot is 64% effective against the infections from the delta variant","content":"
MW Israel says Pfizer's COVID-19 shot is 64% effective against the infections from the delta variant
\n
Israel's health ministry said Monday the effectiveness of the COVID-19 shot developed by BioNTech SE (BNTX) and Pfizer Inc. $(PFE)$ is now thought to be 64% at preventing symptomatic infections in that country.
