He noted that a large number of retail investors have come into cannabis stocks, as evidenced by the nearly 30 million shares of volume TLRY experienced during Tuesday's session.Simon's comments came after Tilray announced thelaunch of a new medical cannabis brandcalled Symbios.Speaking about the launch, Simon told CNBC that the product would provide a lower-cost medical alternative for patients with pain and arthritis. One rumor is a merger with rival BoxBOX,+1.78%.Dropbox probed up to a three-year high on the news, but then fell back. So we are going to use a contingent recommendation here also:IF DBX closes above 28.50, THEN buy 4 DBX July (16th) 28 callsIf these calls are bought, we will hold without a stop initially and see if the activist investor can accomplish something.Follow-up actionAll stops are mental closing stops unless otherwise noted.Long 2 SPY June (11th) 410 puts and short 2 SPY June (11th) 385 puts:This trade was taken because of the MVB sell signal that occurred, when SPX traded down through 4105 on May 12. It would be stopped out by SPX once again closing above the +4σ Band, which is at 4320 and moving sideways. The signal would reach its profit target if SPX trades at the -4σ Band. Right now, the lower Band is at about 4020 and moving sideways. Sell half of this position if SPX trades at 4000 at any time.Long 1 SPY June (18th) 420 put and short 1 SPY Jun (18th) 400 put:This recommendation is based on the equity-only put-call ratio sell signal that is in place. We will hold this recommendation as long as the equity-only put-call ratios are on sell signals. Hence, we will be updating the status weekly. Roll the position down, 20 strikes on each side, if SPY trades at the lower strike at any time.Long 3 DUK June (18th) 100 calls:Hold without a stop while we wait for the activist investor to produce a positive result.Long 2 SPY June (18th) 415 calls and short 2 SPY June (18th) 428 calls:This spread was bought when the most recent VIX “spike peak” buy signal was confirmed on May 21. It would be stopped out if VIX were to return to spiking mode – that is, if it rose at least 3.00 points over any three-day or shorter period (using closing prices).Long 1 KSU Jun (18th) 300 call:Kansas City SouthernKSU,-0.14%has formally accepted the higher takeover bid from Canadian NationalCNI,+0.66%.The deal is for $200 cash + 1.129 shares of CNI. So, with CNI at 112, the deal is worth $326. Of course, there will be regulatory delays. We are going to hold to see if this spread can tighten somewhat. It is unclear whether or not Canadian PacificCP,-0.14%—the other bidder – will come back with a superior offer or not. Finally, stop out the calls if CNI closes at 108 or lower.Long 1 SPY July (16th) 420 call and long 1 SPY July (16th) 420 put:This long straddle is in anticipation of SPX making a volatile move away from the 420 level. If SPXtradesat 437, roll the calls up from the 420 strike to the 437 strike (or the closest strike to that). Conversely, if SPX trades at 403, roll the puts down to the 403 strike.Long 4 CERN June (18th) 80 calls:Hold without a stop while takeover rumors persist.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":142,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":118776759,"gmtCreate":1622764131471,"gmtModify":1704190604555,"author":{"id":"3583131785133223","authorId":"3583131785133223","name":"Markzai","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b51b4e3d3b531f3b6d27a4527babfb85","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583131785133223","authorIdStr":"3583131785133223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Patience ","listText":"Patience ","text":"Patience","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/118776759","repostId":"2140422463","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":169,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":182066127,"gmtCreate":1623547543369,"gmtModify":1704205747389,"author":{"id":"3583131785133223","authorId":"3583131785133223","name":"Markzai","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b51b4e3d3b531f3b6d27a4527babfb85","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583131785133223","authorIdStr":"3583131785133223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/182066127","repostId":"1185020128","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1185020128","pubTimestamp":1623537503,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1185020128?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-13 06:38","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Meme Stock Soars 1,000% To Lead These Two Top Small Cap Stock Plays","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1185020128","media":"investors","summary":"GameStop may be the top holding in SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Value, but that's not the only reason the ","content":"
GameStop may be the top holding in SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Value, but that's not the only reason the ETF is beating its growth-stock counterpart.
\n
The $4.2 billion value fund tracks the S&P SmallCap 600 Value Index (SLYV), composed of stocks with the strongest value traits based on book value to price ratio, earnings to price ratio, and sales to price ratio. An antitrust probe in China, tighter auditing standards in the U.S., and the rotation from growth to value stocks all weighed down its stock.
\n
Alibaba's stock might look cheap at 18 times forward earnings, but analysts still expect its earnings to dip 3% this year as it absorbs a record $2.75 billion antitrust fine. It will also need to halt its exclusive deals with big brands, which could soften its defenses against smaller e-commerce marketplaces.
\n
And that's not all. Alibaba could be forced to divest its media assets and share its user data with the government, while its fintech affiliate, Ant Group, will be more tightly regulated as a financial holding company. Alibaba might weather all these headwinds and recover over the long term, but its stock could remain dead money for the foreseeable future.
\n
Instead of betting on Alibaba's potential comeback, investors should consider buying shares of Chinese tech stocks that aren't in regulatory crosshairs. These three e-commerce companies fit the bill: JD.com (NASDAQ:JD), Pinduoduo (NASDAQ:PDD), and Baozun (NASDAQ:BZUN).
\n
\n
1. JD.com
\n
JD.com is China's second-largest e-commerce company after Alibaba. However, it's actually the country's largest direct retailer, since it generates most of its revenue from its first-party marketplace.
\n
Unlike Alibaba, which generates most of its e-commerce revenue from third-party sellers on Taobao and Tmall, JD takes on its own inventories and fulfills orders with its logistics network. This business model is more capital-intensive, but it shields its buyers from fake products.
\n
Alibaba's co-founder, Jack Ma, once said JD's lower-margin business model would end in a \"tragedy,\" but economies of scale gradually kicked in and enabled it to generate consistent profits. JD's logistics arm also balanced out its costs by offering its services to third-party customers.
\n
JD's revenue and adjusted earnings rose 29% and 57%, respectively, in 2020. It ended the first quarter with nearly 500 million annual active consumers, and analysts expect its revenue and earnings to grow another 26% and 13%, respectively, this year.
\n
JD doesn't face as much regulatory heat as Alibaba, it margins are expanding, and the stock trades at just 28 times forward earnings estimates and less than 1 times estimated sales.
\n
2. Pinduoduo
\n
Pinduoduo is the third-largest e-commerce player in China in terms of annual revenue, but in terms of total shoppers, it's actually bigger than JD, with 628 million annual active buyers. Like Alibaba, Pinduoduo generates most of its revenue through listing fees and ads for third-party merchants.
\n
\n
Pinduoduo carved out a niche with its discount marketplace, which encouraged shoppers to team up for group discounts. That strategy, which relied heavily on users sharing links across social networks, caught on across China's lower-tier cities.
\n
Pinduoduo subsequently expanded into China's top-tier cities and partnered with bigger brands to challenge Alibaba and JD. It also gained an early mover's advantage in online agriculture by enabling over 12 million farmers to directly ship their produce to customers.
\n
Pinduoduo's revenue surged 97% in 2020, then soared another 239% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2021. Analysts expect its revenue to grow 92% for the full year. Those estimates are impressive for a stock that trades at about eight times this year's sales.
\n
Pinduoduo is still unprofitable due to its aggressive discounts, subsidies for sellers, and the expansion of its logistics network. However, its adjusted operating and net losses still narrowed year-over-year last quarter, and it could gradually inch toward profitability as it increases its scale.
\n
3. Baozun
\n
Baozun is sometimes called the \"Shopify of China\", but that comparison is misleading. Unlike Shopify, which provides self-serve e-commerce services to smaller businesses, Baozun mainly provides end-to-end e-commerce solutions to large international companies.
\n
It can be difficult for large U.S. companies to build Chinese websites, launch marketing campaigns, and set up e-commerce marketplaces, so Baozun is a \"one-stop shop\" that handles all those needs. An antitrust probe in China, tighter auditing standards in the U.S., and the rotation from growth to value stocks all weighed down its stock.\nAlibaba's stock might look cheap at 18 times forward earnings, but analysts still expect its earnings to dip 3% this year as it absorbs a record $2.75 billion antitrust fine. It will also need to halt its exclusive deals with big brands, which could soften its defenses against smaller e-commerce marketplaces.\nAnd that's not all. Alibaba could be forced to divest its media assets and share its user data with the government, while its fintech affiliate, Ant Group, will be more tightly regulated as a financial holding company. Alibaba might weather all these headwinds and recover over the long term, but its stock could remain dead money for the foreseeable future.\nInstead of betting on Alibaba's potential comeback, investors should consider buying shares of Chinese tech stocks that aren't in regulatory crosshairs. These three e-commerce companies fit the bill: JD.com (NASDAQ:JD), Pinduoduo (NASDAQ:PDD), and Baozun (NASDAQ:BZUN).\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. JD.com\nJD.com is China's second-largest e-commerce company after Alibaba. However, it's actually the country's largest direct retailer, since it generates most of its revenue from its first-party marketplace.\nUnlike Alibaba, which generates most of its e-commerce revenue from third-party sellers on Taobao and Tmall, JD takes on its own inventories and fulfills orders with its logistics network. This business model is more capital-intensive, but it shields its buyers from fake products.\nAlibaba's co-founder, Jack Ma, once said JD's lower-margin business model would end in a \"tragedy,\" but economies of scale gradually kicked in and enabled it to generate consistent profits. JD's logistics arm also balanced out its costs by offering its services to third-party customers.\nJD's revenue and adjusted earnings rose 29% and 57%, respectively, in 2020. It ended the first quarter with nearly 500 million annual active consumers, and analysts expect its revenue and earnings to grow another 26% and 13%, respectively, this year.\nJD doesn't face as much regulatory heat as Alibaba, it margins are expanding, and the stock trades at just 28 times forward earnings estimates and less than 1 times estimated sales.\n2. Pinduoduo\nPinduoduo is the third-largest e-commerce player in China in terms of annual revenue, but in terms of total shoppers, it's actually bigger than JD, with 628 million annual active buyers. Like Alibaba, Pinduoduo generates most of its revenue through listing fees and ads for third-party merchants.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nPinduoduo carved out a niche with its discount marketplace, which encouraged shoppers to team up for group discounts. That strategy, which relied heavily on users sharing links across social networks, caught on across China's lower-tier cities.\nPinduoduo subsequently expanded into China's top-tier cities and partnered with bigger brands to challenge Alibaba and JD. It also gained an early mover's advantage in online agriculture by enabling over 12 million farmers to directly ship their produce to customers.\nPinduoduo's revenue surged 97% in 2020, then soared another 239% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2021. Analysts expect its revenue to grow 92% for the full year. Those estimates are impressive for a stock that trades at about eight times this year's sales.\nPinduoduo is still unprofitable due to its aggressive discounts, subsidies for sellers, and the expansion of its logistics network. However, its adjusted operating and net losses still narrowed year-over-year last quarter, and it could gradually inch toward profitability as it increases its scale.\n3. Baozun\nBaozun is sometimes called the \"Shopify of China\", but that comparison is misleading. Unlike Shopify, which provides self-serve e-commerce services to smaller businesses, Baozun mainly provides end-to-end e-commerce solutions to large international companies.\nIt can be difficult for large U.S. companies to build Chinese websites, launch marketing campaigns, and set up e-commerce marketplaces, so Baozun is a \"one-stop shop\" that handles all those needs. It also helps companies integrate their online marketplaces with Tmall, JD, and Pinduoduo, which makes it a well-balanced play on China's booming e-commerce sector.\nBaozun's business model is capital-intensive, but it expanded its margins in recent years by pivoting from a \"distribution-based\" model, in which it directly fulfilled orders, to a \"non-distribution\" based model, which allows its clients to directly ship their products to their customers.\nBaozun's revenue and adjusted earnings increased 22% and 50%, respectively, in 2020. Ninety-two percent of its GMV (gross merchandise volume) came from its non-distribution-based business. Analysts expect its revenue and adjusted earnings to rise 35% and 5%, respectively, this year.\nThis oft-overlooked stock trades at just 19 times forward earnings and 1.5 times this year's sales, which might make it an undervalued growth stock if investors fall in love with Chinese tech companies again.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":169,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":114197773,"gmtCreate":1623055984392,"gmtModify":1704195138442,"author":{"id":"3583131785133223","authorId":"3583131785133223","name":"Markzai","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b51b4e3d3b531f3b6d27a4527babfb85","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583131785133223","authorIdStr":"3583131785133223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Sure? In December 2020 when oil was in the high $30s, just as the FDA was issuing emergency authorization for the use of vaccines, co-founder David Tawil correctly predicted prices would double.He’s now calling for oil to hit $100 a barrel by the end of the year.Tawil said in an interview that “supply is falling much faster than demand.” But he acknowledged the world is moving away from carbon fuels saying, “there will be some growth over the next few years but this will become a melting ice cube very quickly, this isn’t a forever asset.”He also believes the targets companies and the government have set for weaning themselves off oil “are far too aggressive.”The commodity itself is the best way to profit rather than getting in and out of stocks in the energy sector, according to Tawil. That strategy, however, can be more difficult for individual investors.Another big part of Maglan Capital’s case for oil is many Americans are flush with cash and they are making plans to get out and spend it. Tawil also doesn’t see OPEC making any major moves anytime soon, saying “they’re in a place where they’re happy.” He also said “the cost of oil in this country will go up faster as the U.S. moves into a full blown re-opening.”Many other hedge funds agree, but instead of playing the commodity they’re pumping money into big-name oil stocks.The biggest mover in the sector has been D.E. Shaw Group. The firm’s largest investment in the sector is a $261 million investment inChevronmade last quarter, according to recent filings.But in this case, they may have backed the wrong horse. The stock is up 27.5% so far in 2021, ranking third to last in theS&P Energysector, which is up 45% this year. Symmetric, which tracks hedge fund activity, also shows D.E. Shaw has been a big buyer ofExxon,Hess,Williams Cos.,Phillips 66andMarathon Oil.Marathon Oil has more than doubled so far this year. For the week, the shares are up 15% after several Wall Street analysts upgraded the stock.Besides D.E. Shaw, Marathon is also attracting investments from Voloridge Investment, Two Sigma, Gotham Asset Management and Tudor Investment, according to Symmetric.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":104,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":114198757,"gmtCreate":1623055706979,"gmtModify":1704195131733,"author":{"id":"3583131785133223","authorId":"3583131785133223","name":"Markzai","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b51b4e3d3b531f3b6d27a4527babfb85","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583131785133223","authorIdStr":"3583131785133223"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yes","listText":"Yes","text":"Yes","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/114198757","repostId":"1191872806","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":142,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
