The self-appointed “Technoking” of Tesla&nbsp;has been mostly using his massive social media following to pump up the price of doge,&nbsp;tweeting back on April 1&nbsp;that he would use his SpaceX rockets to put a physical Doge coin on the literal moon, echoing the social media goal of taking the coin’s price “to the moon.”</p><p>Beesetti said that she first got involved in dogecoin — she also invests in technology stocks and exchange-traded funds — at the prompting of Musk’s social-media missives from last summer.</p><p>She bought dogecoin when it was trading at 3/10ths of a penny and she kept dollar-cost averaging her position in the digital asset created in 2013 even as it hit around 1 cent last August.</p><p>Musk has become a rallying point for dogecoin holders on sites like Reddit and his coming appearance on “SNL” is a hotly anticipated moment inside and outside crypto markets, which had largely been centered on bitcoin&nbsp;and Ethereum&nbsp;,the two largest cryptos in the world.</p><p>Dogecoin has long held the reputation as a joke currency in the digital-asset realm but it is hard to deny that its surging value has gripped Main Street and Wall Street’s attention — at least momentarily.</p><p>Former “SNL” cast member and comedian David Spade on Thursday tweeted that he wondered if Musk’s appearance on the sketch show would equate to a 90-minute infomercial for doge, adding, perhaps tongue in cheek that he was buying dogecoin.</p><p>Oddsmakers at betting platformSportsBettingDime.com&nbsp;have established a number of prop bets about Musk’s appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” including which if any crypto he mentions first on the show.</p><p>Which cryptocurrency does Musk mention first:</p><p>1. Does Not Mention Bitcoin: +400</p><p>Beesetti said that she sold about $8,000 worth of dogecoin recently to buy a pair of Gucci shoes, an iPhone and upped her position in Ether thar runs on the Ethereum protocol but has otherwise been a steady holder of doge.</p><p>The investor wouldn’t offer specific figures but said that her holdings currently range from 50,000 to 100,000 dogecoin.</p><p>Perhaps unlike some investors in doge, she is under no illusion that it has utility but submits to the possibility that momentum could build in a parody asset to such an extent that it forges its own legitimacy.</p><p>“Doge doesn’t have intrinsic value,” Beesetti said. “The value becomes real if you and a collective group of people believe in it. And in this case, there are more groups and people than before who believe.”</p><p>That said, reality could hit meme coin holders hard come Sunday morning, at least one analyst said.</p><p>“Post-SNL, some crypto traders could abandon short-term&nbsp;Dogecoin&nbsp;bets once it becomes clear that it is not skyrocketing to the moon or at the heavily eyed $1 level,” wrote Edward Moya, senior market analyst at Oanda, in a research note.</p><p>The analyst also notes that strong conviction of dogecoin investors,known as hodlers in the crypto world, could defy logic and keep prices buoyant.</p><p>“The retail-army of traders that have been committed to Doge might remain stubbornly hodlers, so we shouldn’t be surprised if a sell the event reaction does not happen,” the Oanda strategist said.</p><p>How it all plays out for dogecoin is anyone’s guess.</p><p>“It’s just a meme currency but sometimes the most entertaining outcome becomes the reality,” Beesetti said.</p><p>That meme currency has enjoyed a spectacular ride compared against most other assets. This segment, which focuses on mobile gaming, had more than 610 million active users in the fourth quarter, 73.1 million of whom were paying customers. With people stuck in their homes in 2020 due to the pandemic, gaming was a form of release and entertainment. As a result, the company's paying customers grew by 120%.</p><p>Arguably the more important operating segment is e-commerce. Sea's online Shopee platform has consistently been the most popular e-commerce download in Southeast Asia. The combination of people staying home and desiring the convenience of ordering goods online has sent Shopee's growth trajectory into the stratosphere. The amount of gross merchandise value transacted on its network doubled last year to $35.4 billion, with gross orders rising 133% to 2.8 billion. With Shopee making inroads in South America as well, it has aspirations of becoming <b>Amazon</b>&nbsp;2.0.</p><p>Third, Sea offers digital financial services to largely underbanked countries and communities. Even if President Joe Biden and his administration fail to pass any cannabis reforms at the federal level, state-level legalizations are providing more than enough growth potential for U.S. multistate operators. That's why <b>Trulieve Cannabis</b> (OTC:TCNNF) could run circles around Dogecoin.</p><p>What allows Trulieve Cannabis to stand out from an increasingly crowded field of marijuana companies is its laser focus on a single state. A little over two weeks ago, the company opened its 85th and 86th dispensaries nationwide. And 81 of these 86 retail locations are in the Sunshine State.</p><p>Instead of planting its flag in as many legalized markets as possible, Trulieve decided to saturate <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of the largest states by annual cannabis sales. By piling into Florida, it's been able to effectively build up its brand without having to break the bank with marketing costs. Trulieve ended 2020 with a 53% share of the state's dried cannabis market and a 49% share of its oils market. It's worth pointing out that oils are a much higher-margin product and less susceptible to oversupply than dried cannabis.</p><p>Furthermore, Trulieve was profitable long before its peers. It's generated a profit for 12 consecutive quarters and should be profitable on a recurring basis moving forward. It has a platform that's specifically focused on helping the federal government categorize and analyze data (Gotham), and offers data-mining analytics for businesses, too (Foundry). Gotham is primarily used for defense purposes and military missions, whereas Foundry helps businesses visualize their data to make their operations more efficient.</p><p>Last year, Gotham was Palantir's primarily driver. Big military contract wins helped propel full-year sales for the company higher by 45%. But over the long run, Foundry offers more potential. Palantir has only scratched the surface of its potential customer pool for Foundry, and ended 2020 with 24 customers in the Global 300. There's work to be done to gain additional enterprise customers, but there's also a long runway of double-digit growth opportunity.</p><p>The thing to understand about Palantir Technologies' artificial-intelligence-driven platforms is that there's simply nothing else like them. This may be a controversial company given its tie-ins with certain federal agencies, but it's destined to be a moneymaker and a business that can keep growing by 30% or more for the next five years. DOGE appeared in big red letters at the top, with the caption \"You'll never use the dollar again.\"</p><p>Musk also responded to a Twitter follower on Saturday who asked him: \"what do you think about the peeps who are angry at you because of crypto?\" Musk said that \"the true battle is between fiat &amp; crypto. On balance, I support the latter.\"</p><p>Musk isn't the only reason for the sell-off. Also contributing to the slide are fears of stricter regulations in China (where many bitcoin mines operate) as well as the potential for more taxes on cryptos in the United States.</p><p>But Musk's constant chatter about crypto may be confusing some investors.</p><p>They may not realize there are different use cases for bitcoin, which many investors treat as sort of an inflation hedge (aka digital gold) as opposed to the second largest crypto ethereum, whose blockchain is used for many non-fungible token (NFT) transactions that are becoming increasingly popular in the art and collectbles world.</p><p><b>Laugh at the meme coins...but don't buy them</b></p><p>Good luck finding anyone with a convincing argument for why dogecoin and other joke currencies like shiba inu coin are needed for anything.</p><p>\"I still don't understand what Musk's perspective on dogecoin is and I don't think the world does either. Why does he think it's valuable?\" said Megan Kaspar, managing director with Magnetic, a cryptocurrency investing firm.</p><p>\"Institutional investors are very thoughtful and are not buying dogecoin just because Musk is pumping it. But retail investors, who are not doing this for a living, may not be,\" she added.</p><p>Marchesoni urged long-term investors, the so-called HODLer faithful, to tune out Musk and focus on bitcoin, ethereum and other prominent coins like cardano and XRP.</p><p>\"There is nothing to be worried about if you are a HODLer,\" Marchesoni said. \"But if you are a small investor, you are going to get burned unless you stay away from the meme coins.\"</p><p>\"The bubble will burst.
