Having taken the luxury end of the market, the theory goes that Tesla can take the mass market by simply scaling up.

But in markets where there is mass market demand for electric vehicles (EVs), like China and Europe, Tesla’s market share is dropping. The mass market doesn’t need huge batteries, fancy fittings, or a $50,000 price tag. Why pay 18 times revenue to own Cadillac when Chevrolet is what the people want?

Dances With Bulls

If I am right, Tesla is overvalued. Tesla is getting fat on the cream of the market when any dairyman knows the big sales are in low fat milk.

Tesla is indeed getting fat. Tesla bears turned into bulls after first quarter numbers came out. Tesla earned $3.3 billion, $2.86/share under GAAP, on first quarter revenue of $18.7 billion. Auto revenues were 87% ahead of a year earlier. Even General Motors(NYSE:GM) has learned that you build your full line off one platform to keep costs down and focus on battery supply.

Despite Tesla’s pretensions, in other words, it’s a car company. No car company is worth 18 times its revenue.

The Great Replacement

A walk around my middle-class neighborhood tells the story. The “Great Replacement” today isn’t people quitting their jobs. It’s replacing America’s gas-guzzling fleet with EVs.

Tesla made the big jump look cool. We have two Teslas on my block. But for most people it’s still a question of small steps. That’s why I recently became the fifth homeowner on my street to buy a Toyota hybrid. It cuts my gas use in half, but I don’t have to worry about finding a plug in the middle of West Virginia. It also cost half what a Tesla costs.

Cars with plugs, like Tesla, still represent just 5% of the U.S. car market. In Europe, Volkswagen(OTCMKTS:VWAGY) and Stellantis(NYSE:STLA) now have bigger shares of the plug-in market.

The Bottom Line on TSLA Stock

Bulls look at CEO Elon Musk’s effort to buy Twitter(NASDAQ:TWTR) and worry that might distract him. They even bought Tesla when it seemed he might back off the Twitter purchase.

The Twitter saga tells me Musk is bored. Tesla is being run by car guys. And during that same five-year stretch, Etsy went from producing a net loss of $15 million to a bottom-line profit of $96 million.
\n
Not only is the company clearly riding the e-commerce boom, but it also gains as consumers are increasingly interested in supporting small businesses. Entrepreneurs on the site sell anything from home furnishings and jewelry to apparel and beauty products. An impressive 88% of Etsy buyers reported that the marketplace has items they can't find anywhere else. This unique market position only supports Etsy's value proposition for its users, and it will be the case for a long time.
\n
Benefiting from network effects
\n
As of the end of the most recent quarter, Etsy counted 5.2 million active sellers (up 67%) and 90.5 million active buyers (up 50%) on its platform. A growing user base means the business has an economic moat that comes from a valuable network effect. More buyers attract more sellers and vice versa. This virtuous cycle makes it nearly impossible for a new rival to compete with Etsy's scale.
\n
An eye-popping stat is that Etsy's habitual buyers (those with six or more purchase days or at least $200 in spending over the past 12 months) grew 115% in Q2 2021 compared to the prior-year period. As the fastest-growing buyer group, they provide Etsy with a sticky customer base already familiar with the e-commerce site's usefulness.
\n
And because Etsy also focuses on offering more tools to its seller base, like Etsy Ads and Etsy Payments, the business is able to extract more value for itself. In the most recent quarter, Etsy's take rate (the amount of gross merchandise sales taken as revenue) was at a healthy 17.4%, up from 15.9% in Q2 2020. More users and a higher take rate are telltale signs of just how solid Etsy's prospects are.
\n
Outstanding growth prospects
\n
Etsy's stock took a hit immediately after the company reported its most recent financial results, mainly because of the imminent slowdown in the near term following the pandemic surge in 2020. Since then, however, the stock has recovered nicely and is up about 8%. I think the market is correctly starting to realize that the growth story for Etsy is still very much intact.
\n
Seven core geographies, including the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany, Australia, France, and India, present Etsy with a massive $1.7 trillion global revenue opportunity. And the recent acquisitions of Depop, a secondhand fashion reseller, and Elo7, a Brazil-based handmade goods marketplace, expand Etsy's product categories and worldwide reach. It's all part of CEO Josh Silverman's plan to build a \"House of Brands.\"
\n
While $500 may not seem like a lot of money, it can give you exposure to an outstanding company like Etsy. Historically low lending rates, an ongoing quantitative easing program designed to weigh down long-term bond yields, and a free-spending Congress have all helped to make cheap capital widely abundant for businesses. This is helping to fuel acquisitions, hiring, and (most importantly) innovation.
\n
Yet for some companies, their exponential growth is just beginning. For each of the following hypergrowth stocks, Wall Street's consensus sales estimate for 2023, courtesy of FactSet, implies a revenue increase ranging from a low of 1,185% (yes, a low of 1,185%) to a high of 12,629%, compared to 2020 sales.
\n
Moderna: Implied sales increase of 1,185%
\n
Arguably the best-known name on this list is biotech Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA). According to Wall Street, Moderna's annual revenue is expected to catapult from the $803.4 million recorded in 2020 to an estimated $10.33 billion in 2023. Interestingly, the $10.33 billion in projected sales for 2023 is about half of the $20.13 billion forecast this year.
\n
As a lot of you probably know, Modena's success is tied to the development of its coronavirus vaccine mRNA-1273. When the company ran a large-scale study of its COVID-19 vaccine, the results (released in November) demonstrated a vaccine efficacy (VE) of 94% and a strong propensity to keep vaccinated individuals from getting severe forms of the disease. This initial VE made Moderna's COVID vaccine a slam dunk for Emergency Use Authorization in the United States.
\n
When the company announced its second-quarter operating results on Aug. 5, it stuck to its original forecast of delivering between 800 million and 1 billion doses in 2021, with net product sales of around $20 billion. Next year, Moderna believes it can provide between 2 billion and 3 billion doses. As a reminder, the Moderna vaccine is a two-dose regimen, meaning its 2022 output could fully inoculate 1 billion to 1.5 billion people.
\n
Also working in Modena's favor is the possibility of booster vaccinations. The mutability of COVID, coupled with a handful of studies suggesting that VE begins waning at the six-month mark, could create a recurring vaccination need globally.
\n
While Moderna might sound like a surefire growth story, there are still big question marks about its future. For example, even though mRNA-1273 has been wildly successful, it's the only therapy that's generating sales for the company. Moderna's non-COVID pipeline looks to be years away from bringing in meaningful revenue.
\n
Equally concerning is the likelihood that the COVID vaccine space is going to become crowded. At some point soon, Novavax should join the field with a formidable initial VE of about 90%. It is also working on a combination COVID/influenza vaccine, which would be a differentiator and game changer.
\n
Not to take anything away from what Moderna has done, but a $150 billion market cap for a company with a single therapy seems awfully risky.
\n
Zogenix: Implied sales increase of 2,451%
\n
Another biotech stock that's expected to generate jaw-dropping sales growth through 2023 is small-cap Zogenix (NASDAQ:ZGNX). If Wall Street's consensus estimate proves accurate, the company's $13.64 million in reported sales in 2020 could grow to $348 million by 2023.
\n
Like Moderna, there's a single drug that looks to do all of the heavy lifting for Zogenix over the next couple of years: Fintepla. This is a drug targeted at a variety of seizure-related indications. It's already been approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat Dravet syndrome. And Zogenix has plans to file a supplemental new drug application by the end of the current quarter to expand Fintepla's label to include Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). Both Dravet and LGS are rare forms of childhood-onset epilepsy. If approved, Zogenix could launch Fintepla for LGS patients in this country by as early as the first half of 2022.
\n
And Zogenix still isn't done with Fintepla. After hashing out the finer points with the FDA, the company intends to initiate a phase 3 study involving Fintepla as a treatment for CDKL5 deficiency disorder before the end of the year. Thus, organic growth and label expansion opportunities are expected to fuel sales of Fintepla to almost $350 million in three years.
\n
What'll be particularly interesting is how Zogenix fares against cannabinoid-focused drug developer GW Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:JAZZ) in May. GW's lead drug, Epidiolex, is a cannabidiol-based treatment that's been approved by the FDA to treat Dravet syndrome and LGS, and it launched in advance of Zogenix's Fintepla. For comparative purposes, Jazz announced that Epidiolex brought home $155.9 million in sales just in the second quarter, although it has an additional indication under its belt (tuberous sclerosis complex) where it won't compete against Zogenix.
\n
Although Epidiolex appears to have the upper hand now, it's worth noting that seizure-reduction efficacy for Fintepla looked very promising in late-stage clinical trials. To be 100% clear, the GW Pharma and Zogenix studies were never pitted head-to-head, and their baseline parameters are different. Nevertheless, Fintepla led to a 62.3% reduction in mean monthly convulsive seizure frequency compared to placebo at the six-week mark for Dravet syndrome patients.
\n
Comparatively, Jazz's Epidiolex demonstrated reductions in seizure frequency from baseline of 56% and 47%, respectively, for the lower- and higher-dose treatments in phase 3 studies in Dravet syndrome patients. Suffice it to say, these could be highly competitive indications for the foreseeable future.
\n
Marathon Digital Holdings: Implied sales increase of 12,629%
\n
Now, if you want pedal-to-the-metal growth, look no further than Marathon Digital Holdings (NASDAQ:MARA). After reporting a meager $4.36 million in sales in 2020, Wall Street anticipates full-year sales will climb to $555 million by 2023. That's an increase of 12,629%.
\n
If you're wondering how sales growth of this magnitude is possible for a company not involved in drug development, look no further than cryptocurrencies.
\n
Marathon Digital is a cryptocurrency mining company. It operates a farm of high-powered computing devices designed to solve complex mathematical equations that validate groups of transactions (known as a block) as valid on a digital currency's blockchain. For being the first to validate a block, Marathon is paid a block reward. This reward is typically a set amount of digital tokens from the digital currency being mined.
\n
In Marathon's case, it's mining Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), the largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap. Being the first to mine a Bitcoin block results in the company being awarded 6.25 Bitcoin tokens, which were worth a cool $292,000, as of Aug. 30.
\n
The reason Marathon's sales are skyrocketing so quickly is because it's in the midst of deploying one of the largest Bitcoin-mining operations in the United States. As of the beginning of August, approximately 30,100 miners were operating, with another 103,000 ordered and yet to be installed. By the end of the first quarter of 2022, Marathon should have north of 100,000 miners in operation, with all 133,120 up and running by July 2022.
\n
Though Marathon is the fastest-growing of these three hypergrowth stocks, it's also arguably the most dangerous investment of this trio. That's because it's entirely dependent on external factors, such as interest in, and the price of, Bitcoin -- and not innovation.
\n
What's more, the barrier to entry in the cryptocurrency mining space is virtually nonexistent. As time passes, it's going to be tougher for Marathon to successfully mine Bitcoin.
\n
As the icing on the cake, Bitcoin's block rewards halve every four years. By 2024, only 3.125 Bitcoin tokens will be paid for validating a block. Essentially, Marathon is competing against a growing number of mining companies for a reward that's shrinking. It simply doesn't sound like an operating model with long-term staying power.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Hypergrowth Stocks Expected to Increase Sales 1,185% to 12,629% by 2023
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Hypergrowth Stocks Expected to Increase Sales 1,185% to 12,629% by 2023\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-03 22:18 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Since the end of the Great Recession in 2009, growth stocks have thrived. This initial VE made Moderna's COVID vaccine a slam dunk for Emergency Use Authorization in the United States.\nWhen the company announced its second-quarter operating results on Aug. 5, it stuck to its original forecast of delivering between 800 million and 1 billion doses in 2021, with net product sales of around $20 billion. Next year, Moderna believes it can provide between 2 billion and 3 billion doses. As a reminder, the Moderna vaccine is a two-dose regimen, meaning its 2022 output could fully inoculate 1 billion to 1.5 billion people.\nAlso working in Modena's favor is the possibility of booster vaccinations. The mutability of COVID, coupled with a handful of studies suggesting that VE begins waning at the six-month mark, could create a recurring vaccination need globally.\nWhile Moderna might sound like a surefire growth story, there are still big question marks about its future. For example, even though mRNA-1273 has been wildly successful, it's the only therapy that's generating sales for the company. Moderna's non-COVID pipeline looks to be years away from bringing in meaningful revenue.\nEqually concerning is the likelihood that the COVID vaccine space is going to become crowded. At some point soon, Novavax should join the field with a formidable initial VE of about 90%. It is also working on a combination COVID/influenza vaccine, which would be a differentiator and game changer.\nNot to take anything away from what Moderna has done, but a $150 billion market cap for a company with a single therapy seems awfully risky.\nZogenix: Implied sales increase of 2,451%\nAnother biotech stock that's expected to generate jaw-dropping sales growth through 2023 is small-cap Zogenix (NASDAQ:ZGNX). If Wall Street's consensus estimate proves accurate, the company's $13.64 million in reported sales in 2020 could grow to $348 million by 2023.\nLike Moderna, there's a single drug that looks to do all of the heavy lifting for Zogenix over the next couple of years: Fintepla. If approved, Zogenix could launch Fintepla for LGS patients in this country by as early as the first half of 2022.\nAnd Zogenix still isn't done with Fintepla. After hashing out the finer points with the FDA, the company intends to initiate a phase 3 study involving Fintepla as a treatment for CDKL5 deficiency disorder before the end of the year. Thus, organic growth and label expansion opportunities are expected to fuel sales of Fintepla to almost $350 million in three years.\nWhat'll be particularly interesting is how Zogenix fares against cannabinoid-focused drug developer GW Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:JAZZ) in May. GW's lead drug, Epidiolex, is a cannabidiol-based treatment that's been approved by the FDA to treat Dravet syndrome and LGS, and it launched in advance of Zogenix's Fintepla. For comparative purposes, Jazz announced that Epidiolex brought home $155.9 million in sales just in the second quarter, although it has an additional indication under its belt (tuberous sclerosis complex) where it won't compete against Zogenix.\nAlthough Epidiolex appears to have the upper hand now, it's worth noting that seizure-reduction efficacy for Fintepla looked very promising in late-stage clinical trials. To be 100% clear, the GW Pharma and Zogenix studies were never pitted head-to-head, and their baseline parameters are different. Nevertheless, Fintepla led to a 62.3% reduction in mean monthly convulsive seizure frequency compared to placebo at the six-week mark for Dravet syndrome patients.\nComparatively, Jazz's Epidiolex demonstrated reductions in seizure frequency from baseline of 56% and 47%, respectively, for the lower- and higher-dose treatments in phase 3 studies in Dravet syndrome patients. Suffice it to say, these could be highly competitive indications for the foreseeable future.\nMarathon Digital Holdings: Implied sales increase of 12,629%\nNow, if you want pedal-to-the-metal growth, look no further than Marathon Digital Holdings (NASDAQ:MARA). After reporting a meager $4.36 million in sales in 2020, Wall Street anticipates full-year sales will climb to $555 million by 2023. That's an increase of 12,629%.\nIf you're wondering how sales growth of this magnitude is possible for a company not involved in drug development, look no further than cryptocurrencies.\nMarathon Digital is a cryptocurrency mining company. It operates a farm of high-powered computing devices designed to solve complex mathematical equations that validate groups of transactions (known as a block) as valid on a digital currency's blockchain. For being the first to validate a block, Marathon is paid a block reward. This reward is typically a set amount of digital tokens from the digital currency being mined.\nIn Marathon's case, it's mining Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), the largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap. Being the first to mine a Bitcoin block results in the company being awarded 6.25 Bitcoin tokens, which were worth a cool $292,000, as of Aug. 30.\nThe reason Marathon's sales are skyrocketing so quickly is because it's in the midst of deploying one of the largest Bitcoin-mining operations in the United States. As of the beginning of August, approximately 30,100 miners were operating, with another 103,000 ordered and yet to be installed. By the end of the first quarter of 2022, Marathon should have north of 100,000 miners in operation, with all 133,120 up and running by July 2022.\nThough Marathon is the fastest-growing of these three hypergrowth stocks, it's also arguably the most dangerous investment of this trio. That's because it's entirely dependent on external factors, such as interest in, and the price of, Bitcoin -- and not innovation.\nWhat's more, the barrier to entry in the cryptocurrency mining space is virtually nonexistent. As time passes, it's going to be tougher for Marathon to successfully mine Bitcoin.\nAs the icing on the cake, Bitcoin's block rewards halve every four years. By 2024, only 3.125 Bitcoin tokens will be paid for validating a block. Essentially, Marathon is competing against a growing number of mining companies for a reward that's shrinking. It simply doesn't sound like an operating model with long-term staying power.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":44,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9023448781,"gmtCreate":1652954453243,"gmtModify":1676535195587,"author":{"id":"3583374794244053","authorId":"3583374794244053","name":"Bluecoral","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e37e4133784cea5494defd22ca371c6b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583374794244053","authorIdStr":"3583374794244053"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"lol ","listText":"lol ","text":"lol","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9023448781","repostId":"1152395035","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1152395035","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1652974277,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1152395035?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-05-19 23:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla: Never Bought it and Never Will","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1152395035","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Tesla stock is overvalued and Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk is bored. The company has yet to begin planning on a true mass market car.Tesla loses share wherever the middle class gets into the electric revolution.I am not a fan ofTesla or TSLA stock.I question the basic bull thesis. Nvidia
\n
Semiconductor maker Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) has continued to record explosive growth throughout the ups and downs of the pandemic. The company is known for its graphics processing units (GPUs), which are used in self-driving cars, video games, data centers, and other applications.
\n
In the first quarter of Nvidia's fiscal 2022 (ended May 2), the company reported that total revenue surged 84% from the year-ago period. Nvidia's gaming and data center businesses accounted for the lion's share of this incredible top-line growth, with these two segments registering revenue increases of 106% and 79%, respectively, year over year. And it wasn't just Nvidia's top line that was looking good in the first quarter -- its bottom-line growth was even higher, at 109% year over year.
\n
Its rapid growth isn't preventing it from increasing its cash position or paying down its existing liabilities. As of the first quarter, the company reported total assets of about $31 billion, with approximately $13 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities. Nvidia also reported total current liabilities (obligations due within the coming 12 months) of a far lower $4 billion.
\n
According to a report by Jon Peddie Research, as of the first quarter of 2021, Nvidia held a whopping 81% share of the entire discrete GPU market. The broader semiconductor market (in which NVIDIA remains a key player) is on track to achieve a global valuation of more than $803 billion by 2028, according to Fortune Business Insights.
\n
Nvidia executed a 4-for-1 stock split on July 20, bringing shares down from $750 to a price just shy of $200 at the time of this writing. Even so, the stock is trading about 85% higher than it was 12 months ago. Now looks like a great time to grab shares of this high-flying tech stock before it soars even higher.
\n
2. Apple
\n
FAANG stock Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is the kind of investment that you can keep adding to your portfolio as the years go by, to generate consistent growth when the market is up as well as when it's down. Apple has continued to generate record balance-sheet growth despite the uncertainty of the pandemic economy, and shares of the company have risen 20% since the beginning of this year alone.
\n
In the first half of Apple's fiscal 2021 (ended March 27), total net sales increased 34% compared to the year-ago period. Net income during the six months surged by a healthy 56% from a year ago.
\n
iPhone sales continue to make up the lion's share of Apple's total net sales. In the first half of fiscal 2021, the iPhone segment generated net sales of $113.5 billion. Apple's five core business segments -- iPhone; Mac; iPad; Wearables, Home, and Accessories; and Services -- generated year-over-year sales growth of 34%, 42%, 57%, 28%, and 25%, respectively, in the first six months of fiscal 2021. The company's total net sales for the six-month period were $201 billion.
\n
The smartphone market alone is expected to hit a global valuation of nearly $1.4 trillion by the year 2026, and Apple remains one of the top manufacturers of smartphones in the world. Its substantial brand and ever-expanding market share driven by its vast range of lucrative products, coupled with consistent balance-sheet growth and share-price gains, make Apple a no-brainer stock you can buy and hold forever.
\n
3. Pfizer
\n
Another compelling stock for long-term investors to consider buying right now is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, Pfizer (NYSE:PFE). Shares are up by about 14% year to date. Investors can also enjoy dividend income from Pfizer. The stock has a hefty yield of about 3.7% at the time of this writing.
\n
Investors have increasingly flocked to buy shares of Pfizer over the past year on the heels of its COVID-19 vaccine success. The company's vaccine, which it developed with its German counterpart BioNTech, amassed $3.5 billion in revenue during the first quarter of 2021 and is expected to generate $26 billion for the full year.
\n
But investors shouldn't buy shares of Pfizer just because its COVID vaccine (now called Comirnaty) has been such a massive commercial success. The company, which has been in business since 1849, has a roster of products that continue to generate impressive revenue increases quarter after quarter. These products are spread across an array of therapeutic areas, including oncology, immunology, and rare diseases.
\n
For example, Pfizer's blockbuster drug Ibrance (for breast cancer) amassed worldwide revenue of about $1.3 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Top-selling drugs Inlyta (for advanced renal cell carcinoma) and Sutent (for a range of rare cancers) earned revenue of $229 million and $200 million, respectively, in the quarter. And Pfizer's blockbuster blood thinner Eliquis brought in a whopping $1.6 billion in revenue in the first-quarter period.
\n
First-quarter revenue and net income both increased 45% year over year, and the company expects remarkable revenue growth for the full year, projecting an increase of as much as 73% from 2020.
\n
According to a report by the news website Pharmaceutical Technology, Comirnaty is on track to remain the top-seller in the global COVID vaccine market over the next several years and is expected to bring in $55 billion in revenue by 2027. Pfizer has already inked a host of lucrative supply contracts for Comirnaty with delivery dates stretching out to the middle of this decade.
\n
And the company's vast stable of other top-selling products can drive continued balance-sheet gains, which will inevitably lead to steady share-price growth, making the dividend of this unstoppable healthcare stock icing on the cake.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Top Robinhood Stocks That Shrewd Investors Should Buy Right Now
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Top Robinhood Stocks That Shrewd Investors Should Buy Right Now\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-29 17:51 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Since its launch in 2013, Robinhood has seen explosive growth as a trading platform for retail investors, and younger traders in particular.
