awarded dam","content":"
FRANKFURT, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Bayer lost a third appeal against U.S. court verdicts that awarded damages to customers blaming their cancers on use of its glyphosate-based weedkillers, leaving the German drugs and pesticides group to pin hopes for legal relief on the U.S. Supreme Court.
\n
A California appeals court late on Monday upheld an $86 million verdict that found Bayer responsible for a couple's cancer after using Bayer's glyphosate-based Roundup against weeds.
\n
Bayer in February 2020 filed an appeal, saying the verdict could not be reconciled with sound science or with product clearance from the federal environment regulator.
\n
Roundup-related lawsuits have dogged the company since it acquired the brand as part of its $63 billion purchase of Monsanto in 2018.
\n
\"We respectfully disagree with the Court’s ruling as the verdict is not supported by the evidence at trial or the law. Monsanto will consider its legal options in this case,\" Bayer said in a statement.
\n
It reaffirmed plans to file a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court this month to review a similar Roundup case that went in favour of Roundup user Edwin Hardeman.
\n
Bayer struck a settlement deal in principle with plaintiffs last year but failed to win court approval for a separate agreement on how to handle future cases, as Bayer intended to keep the product on the market.
\n
Last month, it announced an additional litigation provision of $4.5 billion to brace for any unfavourable ruling by the top U.S. court. That came on top of $11.6 billion it previously set aside for settlements and litigation in the matter.
\n
Among measures to contain the legal damage, Bayer plans to replace glyphosate in weedkillers for the U.S. residential market with other active ingredients. It will continue to sell the herbicide to farmers, who rely on it heavily.
\n
\"We continue to stand strongly behind the safety of Roundup, a position supported by four decades of extensive science and the assessments of leading health regulators worldwide that support its safe use,\" Bayer added in its statement on Tuesday.
\n
An initial verdict in 2019 drew attention after a California jury awarded more than $2 billion to Roundup users Alberta and Alva Pilliod. The trial judge later reduced the damages to $86 million.
\n
The setback for Bayer comes after a federal appeals court in May upheld a $25 million court verdict which ruled Roundup caused the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of California resident Edwin Hardeman.
\n
About a year ago, Bayer failed to persuade a California appeals
\n
court to overturn a verdict favouring school groundskeeper Dewayne Johnson who claimed Roundup use caused his cancer.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Bayer loses third appeals case over glyphosate weedkiller
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBayer loses third appeals case over glyphosate weedkiller\n
\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Reuters
\n
2021-08-10 17:30
\n
\n\n\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
It said it expected about $6.5 billion in 2021 operating profit, including the effects of the semiconductor shortage but not counting a $900 million gain on the sale of part of its stake in the electric-vehicle company Rivian.
\n
The problem was that back in February,Ford had projected about $8.5 billion in 2021 operating profit, so at first glance, the forecast appeared to have been reduced. But the February number included the gain from Rivian and excluded the impact from the semiconductor shortage.
\n
The implied impact of the shortage was about $1.1 billion, roughly what should have been expected given what other auto makers were saying. Still, the communication was, frankly,a little difficult to follow. Some analysts said they were confused.
\n
The stock dropped 9.4% the next day, sliding to $11.26 a share. On Monday, the shares closed at $14.03, bringing the year-to-date gain to about 56%.
\n
For the second quarter, Wall Street is looking for a loss of 3 cents a share from $23 billion in sales. That would be a sharp reversal from the first quarter, when the company earned 89 cents from $36.2 billion in sales.
\n
The problem is production, not demand. Ford said on its first-quarter earnings conference call that the global semiconductor shortage could hit second-quarter output by as much as 50%. We now expect to lose about 50% of our planned Q2 production, said CFO John Lawler. An increase from the 17% loss in Q1, making Q2 the trough for our performance this year.
\n
What investors will want Wednesday evening is reassurance that there isn’t more bad news on the way. The shortage isn’t over, but investors would like to know that the second quarter was the worst of it. That would mean no new cuts to guidance due to a lack of semiconductors.
\n
Production, the chip shortage, and the outlook for earnings in 2021 will be issues one, two, and three on the agenda for Wednesday evening. No. 4 is likely to be vehicle electrification.
\n
For June, Ford reported a 117% year-over-year increase in electric-vehicle sales to 56,570. Sales of the Mustang Mach E came in at 12,975, up 27% from May.
\n
In May, Ford said it plans to spend $30 billion on vehicle electrification by 2025, up from a previously stated goal of $22 billion. The extra $8 billion is meant to support Ford’s plans to produce EV batteries.
\n
Barron’s recently wrote positively about Ford, believing new management could reinvigorate its EV plans and its existing product line. With share gains of a hefty 102% in 2021’s choppy stock market, this outperformer is… Blackberry (BB).\nAs a core member of one of the year’s hottest trends, meme stocks, the once leading smartphone maker tuned software provider, has been one of the year’s unlikeliest success stories.\nBut as with most of the retailer favorites, the rise has almost nothing to do with fundamentals. A fact acknowledged by RBC analyst Paul Treiber, ahead of the F1Q22 print.\n“Similar to last quarter, BlackBerry’s shares have rallied significantly ahead of the quarter’s results,” said the 5-star analyst. “We believe the rally reflects trading dynamics, as opposed to materially improved fundamentals. We anticipate that BlackBerry’s core software business would remain soft. BlackBerry may provide an update on the pending sale of its IP portfolio, though we believe the value is already reflected in the stock.”\nThe company is currently negotiating the sale of its patent portfolio, which Treiber thinks will result in Licensing & Other revenue to dropping by 71% quarter-over-quarter to $15 million. The implication of the decline will be soft overall revenue, which the analyst estimates will come in at $176 million, an 18% year-over-year downturn. Incidentally, the consensus estimate is actually lower - at $171 million. On the bottom-line, Treiber anticipates a sequential decline, calling for adj. EPS of -$0.04, compared to $0.03 in the prior quarter.\nWith the patent portfolio windfall, the company will be able to finance new software investments. An enticing proposition, considering the patents are worth around $1 billion, but with the stock’s strong rally, as noted above, Treiber believes any additional value is already “priced into the shares.”\nLooking ahead, while BlackBerry’s forecast calls for “double-digit billings growth,” other metrics suggest there’s not much to get excited about.\nAt 91%, dollar net revenue retention remains “low,” and Treiber thinks free cash flow will fall to -$99 million, well below the $36 million BlackBerry reported in Q4. “Moreover,” the analyst summed up, “The company anticipates negative EPS in the near-term, given the loss of IP licensing revenue/cashflow.”\nUnsurprisingly, then, Treiber reiterated an Underperform (i.e. Sell) rating on BB shares, while his $7.5 price target, suggests a 44% drop in the coming months. (To watch Treiber’s track record, click here)\nWith 2 other recent reviews suggesting to Hold, BB stock has a Moderate Sell consensus rating. Going by the $9 price target, shares are expected to be changing hands for a 28% discount a year from now. Shares of Reddit iconGameStop Corp.jumped as much as 2,500% in January after day traders noticed its short interest had ballooned to record levels.\nInvestors looking for other stocks that might fit that mold will find nearly 230 firms with a market capitalization of at least $100 million and short interest of 15% or more, according to S3 Partners data compiled by Bloomberg. More than 80% of those names have managed positive returns over the last month with the average gain sitting at about 18%, while the S&P 500 Index rose 2.3%.\n\nAmong the most heavily shorted stocks are names like Clover Health Investments Corp.,Workhorse Group Inc. and Geo Group Inc., which have already caught the attention of retail traders in recent days.\nMeanwhile,Bumble Inc. and Petco Health and Wellness Co., both fresh off initial public offerings this year, find themselves on the outside looking in as part of the few companies on the list that haven’t seen outsized gains over the last month. Joining them is ad-tech firmPubMatic Inc., which boasts the highest short interest at 54%, recreational boat retailer MarineMax Inc. and biotech companyBlack Diamond Therapeutics Inc., which has plunged more than 50% over the last month.\n\nWhile these sudden rallies can create lucrative returns for investors in the blink of an eye, the extreme volatility that accompanies them can quickly catch traders offside, leaving them holding the bag as shares plunge back to earth.\nAfter opening the week with a 32% gain, Clover Health’s shares jumped by as much as 142% over the next two days. But, by the close of trading Thursday, anyone who had bought and held shares after Monday’s pop was now underwater.\n\n“I can’t imagine this is going to continue in the same form or fashion for much longer,” said Barry Schwartz, chief investment officer at Baskin Wealth Management. “Just because something is shorted doesn’t mean buying it is going to work out for you,” he added. “You’re playing with fire.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":70,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":137016715,"gmtCreate":1622267716737,"gmtModify":1704182546929,"author":{"id":"3583646711992196","authorId":"3583646711992196","name":"Dzdz55","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/77aaa7d60187d7a17b3fda519e170224","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583646711992196","authorIdStr":"3583646711992196"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hodl it.\n
\n
Super fans of the latest and greatest high-endTesla, Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) model received some disappointing news a week ago when CEO Elon Musk abruptly canceled the release of its highly anticipated Model S Plaid Plus with a tweet on June 6.
\n
Source: nrqemi / Shutterstock.com
\n
Musk wrote there was… “No need, as Plaid is just so good.”
\n
The Model S Plaid Plus was supposed to be the fastest, most powerful and priciest version of the company’s Model S. Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.
\n
Instead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.
\n
As a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.
\n
This “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.
\n
Both the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.
\n
Clearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”
\n
As someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know donotwant to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.
\n
What Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.
\n
The good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.
\n
This is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.
\n
However, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.
\n
Taking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential
\n
I’m talking about Nio, Inc.(NYSE:NIO). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong. It’s why I put NIO on myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio back in February.
\n
The company boasts that it is the “next-generation car company,” as it designs and manufactures electric vehicles that utilize the latest technologies in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). NIO currently offers an electric seven-seater SUV (ES8) and a five-seater electric SUV (ES6) and recently introduced an attractive electric sedan (ET7). Its vehicles utilize NOMI, an in-vehicle artificial intelligence assistant.
\n
The company is also partnering with cutting-edge chip companies likeNVIDIA Corporation(NASDAQ:NVDA), another one of myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio stocks. NIO plans to use the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip for its electric vehicles that will provide autonomous driving capabilities. The NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-powered supercomputer, which is being called Adam, will be launched in the ET7 sedan in China in 2022. Announcements like this are very positive, so NIO has been stealing some of Tesla’s thunder lately.
\n
Now, it’s important to note that NIO was bailed out by the Chinese government. Last year, the Chinese government injected $1 billion and now has a 24% ownership in the company. The reality is that China wants to dominate at least five major industries by 2025, and NIO is now its ticket to dominate EV manufacturing.
\n
With the backing of the Chinese government, some Wall Street firms are eager to help NIO by issuing new debt or equity. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if NIO surpasses Tesla, which is currently number-two in China, for market share in the upcoming years.
\n
That means, if you missed Tesla’s parabolic run like I did, NIO is essentially giving us a “second chance” to make money in a potentially explosive electric vehicle company.
\n
Shares of NIO climbed nearly 13% since the company’s June 4 announcement of its May delivery report and positive analyst comments, while Tesla shares rose almost 3%. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”
\n
Interestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Strong demand in China even inspired a Citigroup analyst to upgrade NIO to a buy rating, as he expects demand to accelerate in the coming months.
\n
In other words, NIO represents thecrème de la crèmeof EV stocks right now.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why I Believe NIO Will Beat Out Tesla
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy I Believe NIO Will Beat Out Tesla\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-23 15:33 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The fact that Tesla scrapped its Model S Plaid Plus release is just part of it.\n\nSuper fans of the latest and greatest high-endTesla, Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) model received some disappointing news a week ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"NIO":"蔚来","TSLA":"特斯拉"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2021/06/why-i-believe-nio-will-beat-out-tesla/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1145825451","content_text":"The fact that Tesla scrapped its Model S Plaid Plus release is just part of it.\n\nSuper fans of the latest and greatest high-endTesla, Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) model received some disappointing news a week ago when CEO Elon Musk abruptly canceled the release of its highly anticipated Model S Plaid Plus with a tweet on June 6.\nSource: nrqemi / Shutterstock.com\nMusk wrote there was… “No need, as Plaid is just so good.”\nThe Model S Plaid Plus was supposed to be the fastest, most powerful and priciest version of the company’s Model S. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”\nInterestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Strong demand in China even inspired a Citigroup analyst to upgrade NIO to a buy rating, as he expects demand to accelerate in the coming months.\nIn other words, NIO represents thecrème de la crèmeof EV stocks right now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":166,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":891141288,"gmtCreate":1628356519944,"gmtModify":1703505372609,"author":{"id":"3583646711992196","authorId":"3583646711992196","name":"Dzdz55","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/77aaa7d60187d7a17b3fda519e170224","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583646711992196","authorIdStr":"3583646711992196"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$Lmaooo","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$Lmaooo","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$Lmaooo","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3002bdf8bd9203a44752659d578c9928","width":"1242","height":"1767"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/891141288","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":511,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":161232853,"gmtCreate":1623927933872,"gmtModify":1703823701138,"author":{"id":"3583646711992196","authorId":"3583646711992196","name":"Dzdz55","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/77aaa7d60187d7a17b3fda519e170224","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583646711992196","authorIdStr":"3583646711992196"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"FUDDD","listText":"FUDDD","text":"FUDDD","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/161232853","repostId":"2143979397","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2143979397","pubTimestamp":1623921600,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2143979397?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-17 17:20","market":"us","language":"en","title":"1 Stock to Avoid No Matter What","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2143979397","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"This company faces an uphill climb to turning things around.","content":"
GameStop (NYSE:GME) has certainly had a wild ride this year. An overhaul of the iPad operating system.
\n
These are among the announcements Apple (AAPL) may make this week during its Worldwide Developer Conference, a multi-day event that kicks off Monday. The annual event is typically a chance for the tech company to introduce changes to the software used everyday by millions of people.
\n
eyond new gadgets and the introduction of iOS 15, WWDC will also be an opportunity for Apple to address its developer community in the midst of two major recent spats with app makers — a contentious legal battle with Fortnite-maker Epic Games over its App Store fees and a feud with Facebook (FB) over Apple's new app-tracking privacy policy.
\n
This year, for the second time, Apple's WWDC will be held online, though there will still be plenty for developers to do virtually, including more than 200 sessions on how to build new apps and services.
\n
The event begins with a keynote at 1 p.m. ET on Monday, June 7. Here's what to expect based on the latest reports and rumors.
\n
New gadgets
\n
The most significant hardware announcement expected during WWDC is the introduction of a redesigned 16-inch MacBook Pro, and possibly a 14-inch version, too, Bloomberg has reported.
\n
The device — like other recent computer and iPad launches from the company — would likely be built with Apple's M1 chip, which it has said provides longer battery life and faster processing speeds, among other benefits. The new laptop could also bring back the popular MagSafe power connector, Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, said in an email last week.
\n
Among other hardware updates, Apple could announce a new version of its AirPods, a breakout product for the company but one that is facing increasing competition from the likes of Google and others.
\n
\"I'm sure Apple is aware of that competition\" and has plans to counter it, said Mike Bailey, director of research at FBB Capital Partners.
\n
Finally, the iPad could get major new operating system updates, after Apple introduced a new iPad Pro with its M1 chip last fall.
\n
\"We expect to see the lines between the Mac and the iPad continue to blur with powerful demos of high-performance video editing software and more,\" Wood said.
\n
iMessage gets a social media makeover
\n
Based on the company's promotional materials for WWDC, a centerpiece of the event could be iMessage, the messaging service used by countless Apple device owners.
\n
The iPhone maker has been working to make iMessage more like a social media platform that competes with Facebook's WhatsApp. Bloomberg reported that iOS 15 iMessage updates will include new options for automatic replies, beyond the existing auto-reply for when users are driving.
\n
This could further inflame the tensions with Facebook that emerged over privacy.
\n
Focus on privacy
\n
Industry watchers expect Apple to double down on its privacy focus during WWDC this year.
\n
At last year's conference, Apple announced its iOS 14.5 update that now gives users the option to deny apps permission to track their activity, a move that has drawn the ire of Facebook, which uses this data to target ads. Updated iMessage features. An overhaul of the iPad operating system.\nThese are among the announcements Apple (AAPL) may make this week during its Worldwide Developer Conference, a multi-day event that kicks off Monday. The annual event is typically a chance for the tech company to introduce changes to the software used everyday by millions of people.\neyond new gadgets and the introduction of iOS 15, WWDC will also be an opportunity for Apple to address its developer community in the midst of two major recent spats with app makers — a contentious legal battle with Fortnite-maker Epic Games over its App Store fees and a feud with Facebook (FB) over Apple's new app-tracking privacy policy.\nThis year, for the second time, Apple's WWDC will be held online, though there will still be plenty for developers to do virtually, including more than 200 sessions on how to build new apps and services.\nThe event begins with a keynote at 1 p.m. ET on Monday, June 7. Here's what to expect based on the latest reports and rumors.\nNew gadgets\nThe most significant hardware announcement expected during WWDC is the introduction of a redesigned 16-inch MacBook Pro, and possibly a 14-inch version, too, Bloomberg has reported.\nThe device — like other recent computer and iPad launches from the company — would likely be built with Apple's M1 chip, which it has said provides longer battery life and faster processing speeds, among other benefits. The new laptop could also bring back the popular MagSafe power connector, Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, said in an email last week.\nAmong other hardware updates, Apple could announce a new version of its AirPods, a breakout product for the company but one that is facing increasing competition from the likes of Google and others.\n\"I'm sure Apple is aware of that competition\" and has plans to counter it, said Mike Bailey, director of research at FBB Capital Partners.\nFinally, the iPad could get major new operating system updates, after Apple introduced a new iPad Pro with its M1 chip last fall.\n\"We expect to see the lines between the Mac and the iPad continue to blur with powerful demos of high-performance video editing software and more,\" Wood said.\niMessage gets a social media makeover\nBased on the company's promotional materials for WWDC, a centerpiece of the event could be iMessage, the messaging service used by countless Apple device owners.\nThe iPhone maker has been working to make iMessage more like a social media platform that competes with Facebook's WhatsApp. Bloomberg reported that iOS 15 iMessage updates will include new options for automatic replies, beyond the existing auto-reply for when users are driving.\nThis could further inflame the tensions with Facebook that emerged over privacy.\nFocus on privacy\nIndustry watchers expect Apple to double down on its privacy focus during WWDC this year.\nAt last year's conference, Apple announced its iOS 14.5 update that now gives users the option to deny apps permission to track their activity, a move that has drawn the ire of Facebook, which uses this data to target ads. Analysts will be watching for any data from Apple on how many users have stopped sharing data with apps since the feature went into effect in April.\nThe company may also introduce even more ways for users to control what data they share with developers and app makers in the latest iOS update.\n\"We expect data privacy and security to be a main focus and theme of [CEO Tim] Cook's keynote as Apple solidifies its privacy policy with the iOS 15 unveil,\" Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said in an investor note last week.\nScrutiny amid Epic trial\nThe developer conference comes weeks after Apple's blockbuster trial against Fortnite maker Epic Games, in which the 30% commission that Apple takes from developers was heavily scrutinized.\n\"In light of the controversy kicked up by the recent lawsuit with Epic, Apple will likely go out of its way to reassure the developer community that it has their best interests at heart,\" CCS Insight's Wood said.\nThe conference was mentioned on the stand during the trial: An Apple executive revealed that the company spends $50 million a year to put WWDC together, in an effort to shore up its argument that it does a lot to support developers.\n\"We turn the place upside down for developers,\" Cook said during his testimony, citing the company's responsiveness to developer complaints.\nBut Cook also acknowledged during his testimony that Apple's ultimate allegiance and priority is its users.\n\"We're making decisions in the best interests of the user,\" he said, \"and I think it's important to note that sometimes there's a conflict between what the developer may want and what the user may want.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":19,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":133442932,"gmtCreate":1621791915126,"gmtModify":1704362429783,"author":{"id":"3583646711992196","authorId":"3583646711992196","name":"Dzdz55","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/77aaa7d60187d7a17b3fda519e170224","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583646711992196","authorIdStr":"3583646711992196"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice lets buy","listText":"Nice lets buy","text":"Nice lets buy","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/133442932","repostId":"1153943475","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1153943475","pubTimestamp":1621610182,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1153943475?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-21 23:16","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S., South Korea Announce Vaccine, Semiconductor Partnership","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1153943475","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Commerce Secretary Raimondo met with South Korea’s Moon Friday\nSouth Korea needs Covid vaccines, U.S","content":"
\n
Commerce Secretary Raimondo met with South Korea’s Moon Friday
\n
South Korea needs Covid vaccines, U.S. faces chip shortage
\n
\n
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and South Korean President Moon Jae-in announced an agreement to deepen cooperation in a range of industries including pharmaceutical companies making Covid-19 vaccines, electric-vehicle batteries and semiconductor producers.
\n
“The importance of this bilateral relationship for both nations cannot be overstated,” Raimondo said. “As we recover from the pandemic, our countries will benefit from deepening that collaboration, particularly in sectors that are critical to the future of our economies.”
\n
Gina RaimondoPhotographer: Leigh Vogel/UPI/Bloomberg
\n
South Korea is eager to secure supplies of Covid-19 vaccines that the U.S. has recently allowed to be exported. One arbitration addresses a dispute notice Basslink filed under its services agreement, while the other addresses a dispute notice Hydro Tasmania filed under the same services agreement.\nBasslink has advised that it is in discussions with the State of Tasmania and Hydro Tasmania about paying these costs as part of Basslink's refinancing of its existing debt, KIT's trustee-manager said.\nIt does not expect the additional arbitration provision of $23.8 million to have any financial impact on the trust's distribution per unit for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2021.\nThis is because there is no contractual recourse to KIT under Basslink's operations agreement, services agreement, or financing arrangements. KIT also does not rely on Basslink's cash flows for its distributions.\nKIT units were trading 0.9 per cent or 0.5 cents lower at 55.5 cents as at 10.29am on Thursday.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":42,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
