unprecedented volumes of crude, the OPEC+ alliance is expecting world oil markets to get acutely tight.

The coalition led by Saudi Arabia and Russia believes that the glut created during the pandemic has nearly gone, and that oil stockpiles will diminish rapidly in the second half of the year as lockdowns ease and travel gathers pace.

That leaves the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its partners with a decision they will start pondering as soon as Tuesday: whether to pour more oil into the market in the second half when the outlook is still so mired in uncertainty.

Holding output steady would support the market against the twin risks of renewed virus outbreaks and a potential export flood from fellow OPEC member Iran. But with Brent futures near $70 a barrel, it could also jeopardize the global economy and feed into the inflationary pressures fixating Wall Street.

“There are many moving parts when it comes to factors affecting the global oil market, such as the pace of change during the pandemic,” OPEC Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo said after preliminary consultations on Monday.

Rapid Drawdown

OPEC sees oil stocks falling fast in the second half of 2021

Source: OPEC

At their meeting on Tuesday, ministers are expected to press ahead with a gradual increase already penciled in for July, completing the return of 2 million barrels since May. In theory, according to a historic deal struck in the depths of the oil crisis last year, the group has committed to hold at that level until early 2022. But a tight market may call for the agreement to be revised.

Delegates said initial discussions would begin on Tuesday about the alliance’s moves after July. No decision will be made, they said. But any hints the ministers give will be closely scrutinized -- by inflation forecasters as much as oil traders.

Stocks Shrink

OPEC’s Joint Technical Committee estimated on Monday that by the end of July stockpiles in developed nations will be below the average levels seen during 2015 to 2019 -- a key benchmark for the group. Between September and December, inventories will be depleted at a brisk clip of more than 2 million barrels a day.

That encourages many observers to believe that OPEC+ will need to open the taps in the second half of the year.

“The market is now facing the exact opposite dilemma of April 2020,” said Louise Dickson, an analyst at consultants Rystad Energy.

“Producers now have just as delicate of a task to bring back enough supply to match the swiftly rising oil demand,” said Dickson. “If markets over-tighten, a flare-up in prices could jeopardize the global economic recovery.”

But the demand outlook remains beset with uncertainties.Indian energydemand is taking a big hit as Covid-19 rages through the country. Japan and Malaysia, key consumers of OPEC’s crude, have recently announced tougher measures to deal with the latest infections.

“The resurgence of COVID-19 cases in some Asian and Latin American countries remains a source of concern, and could still dampen economic activities and an oil demand rebound,” the JTC said in its report.

Iran Talks

A critical factor in the group’s decision-making will beIran.

Paid PostA Global Showcase for Art in AsiaBrand Hong Kong

Tehran is in talks with world powers to revive a 2015 nuclear accord that limited its atomic activities in return for U.S. sanctions relief. But with Brent futures near $70 a barrel, it could also jeopardize the global economy and feed into the inflationary pressures fixating Wall Street.“There are many moving parts when it comes to factors affecting the global oil market, such as the pace of change during the pandemic,” OPEC Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo said after preliminary consultations on Monday.Rapid DrawdownOPEC sees oil stocks falling fast in the second half of 2021Source: OPECAt their meeting on Tuesday, ministers are expected to press ahead with a gradual increase already penciled in for July, completing the return of 2 million barrels since May. In theory, according to a historic deal struck in the depths of the oil crisis last year, the group has committed to hold at that level until early 2022. But a tight market may call for the agreement to be revised.Delegates said initial discussions would begin on Tuesday about the alliance’s moves after July. No decision will be made, they said. But any hints the ministers give will be closely scrutinized -- by inflation forecasters as much as oil traders.Stocks ShrinkOPEC’s Joint Technical Committee estimated on Monday that by the end of July stockpiles in developed nations will be below the average levels seen during 2015 to 2019 -- a key benchmark for the group. Between September and December, inventories will be depleted at a brisk clip of more than 2 million barrels a day. That encourages many observers to believe that OPEC+ will need to open the taps in the second half of the year.“The market is now facing the exact opposite dilemma of April 2020,” said Louise Dickson, an analyst at consultants Rystad Energy.“Producers now have just as delicate of a task to bring back enough supply to match the swiftly rising oil demand,” said Dickson. “If markets over-tighten, a flare-up in prices could jeopardize the global economic recovery.”But the demand outlook remains beset with uncertainties.Indian energydemand is taking a big hit as Covid-19 rages through the country. Japan and Malaysia, key consumers of OPEC’s crude, have recently announced tougher measures to deal with the latest infections.“The resurgence of COVID-19 cases in some Asian and Latin American countries remains a source of concern, and could still dampen economic activities and an oil demand rebound,” the JTC said in its report.Iran TalksA critical factor in the group’s decision-making will beIran.Paid PostA Global Showcase for Art in AsiaBrand Hong KongTehran is in talks with world powers to revive a 2015 nuclear accord that limited its atomic activities in return for U.S. sanctions relief. Iran is keen to reach an agreement before it holds presidential elections on June 18. The innovation fund is up 16.7% over the last month, which could mark a critical moment for the battered ETF.\n\nWood made a name for herself after a banner 2020 where ARK Innovation returned nearly 150% and became the largest actively managed ETF. ARKK has seen more than $6.7 billion in fund flows in 2021 and more than $14 billion in the past 12 months, according to FactSet.\nYet shares of ARK Innovation are down 6.7% this year to around $116 per share amid a sharp rotation into value stocks. The ETF is about 27% off its high in February as worries about how the Federal Reserve might react to inflation pushed investors away from technology names.\nThat’s because as interest rates rise, the present value of cash flows for growth companies – namely tech stocks – goes down.\nHowever,Wood said last Tuesday that the “rotation back to growth is probably close at hand.”\nWood never doubted the flip back to innovation would happen. She has been buying her highest conviction names — some that are at a significant discount to their levels earlier in the year.\n“We have capitalized on this volatility by selling names that have held up better than others and moving into names … those that we have a high degree of conviction and those that are more opportunistic,” she said during an ARK webinar last week.\n\nIn June, Wood purchased in her various funds shares of Netflix,Etsy, Google-parent Alphabet,Zoom Video,CRISPR Therapeutics and DocuSign. Wood is even doubling down on her top holdingTesla, which has fallen about 33% from its 52-week high.\nA new top 10\nWood’s top 10 holdings look different since the start of the year, which Wood has said is a result of consolidating into Ark’s highest conviction plays.\nTesla has long been ARK Innovation’s top holding and remains nearly 10% of the ETF’s weight.Teladoc Health,Roku and Square are also bellwethers of the fund since 2020, remaining in their top ten spots from last year.\nTeladoc Health rose 5.6% and Roku rose nearly 6.1% last week. Square climbed 2.6% since Monday.\nMeanwhile,Zoom Video,Shopify,Spotify Technology,Unity Software,Coinbase Global and Twilio have all joined the top ten in 2021, knockingInvitae,CRISPR Therapeutics,Proto Labs,2U,SlackandLending Treeout of the prime spots.\nZoom Video rose nearly 9.1% last week. Spotify and Shopify gained close to 3.2% and 3.4%, respectively. Unity Software rallied 4.6% last week. Twilio is up about 7.4% since Monday. Coinbase lost 2.1% last week.\nCoinbase rose through the ranks especially fast, breaking the top ten just weeks after its public debut in April. The company — founded in 2012 as a way to simplify the purchase of bitcoin — is the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. Coinbase’s shares suffered as the price of bitcoin weakened.\nA longtime bitcoin bull, Wood told Bloomberg TV in May that she still expects the digital asset to reach $500,000. However, she said the pullback in the price of bitcoin could help the prospects for an Ark bitcoin ETF.\nWood has long said being an active manager allows her to be nimble and to take advantage of volatility that is inherent in innovation names.\n“I think any company on the right side of these five platforms is going to enjoy exponential growth opportunities, the likes of which we have not seen before, except for maybe Amazon over the last 2025 years has been the poster child,” said Wood last month.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":299,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":185015662,"gmtCreate":1623627039556,"gmtModify":1704207063591,"author":{"id":"3585171255506747","authorId":"3585171255506747","name":"DomDon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ad1d6a8fce3bde5d2de23b8228db678b","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585171255506747","authorIdStr":"3585171255506747"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Really?","listText":"Really?","text":"Really?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/185015662","repostId":"2142204074","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2142204074","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1623441637,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2142204074?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-12 04:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"S&P ekes out gains to close languid week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2142204074","media":"Reuters","summary":"NEW YORK, June 11 - The S&P 500 closed nominally higher at the end of a torpid week marked with few market-moving catalysts and persistent concerns over whether current inflation spikes could linger and cause the U.S. Federal Reserve to tighten its dovish policy sooner than expected.Economically sensitive smallcaps and transports notched solid gains, outperforming the broader market. For the week, the S&P and the Nasdaq advanced from last Friday's close, while the Dow posted a weekly loss. But th","content":"
NEW YORK, June 11 (Reuters) - The S&P 500 closed nominally higher at the end of a torpid week marked with few market-moving catalysts and persistent concerns over whether current inflation spikes could linger and cause the U.S. Federal Reserve to tighten its dovish policy sooner than expected.
\n
Economically sensitive smallcaps and transports notched solid gains, outperforming the broader market.
\n
For the week, the S&P and the Nasdaq advanced from last Friday's close, while the Dow posted a weekly loss.
\n
But the indexes have been range-bound, with few catalysts to move investor sentiment.
