Ron Wyden (D., Oreg.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D.","content":"
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), Sen. Ron Wyden (D., Oreg.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) are unveiling a discussion draft of their legislation to end the federal prohibition of marijuana. The senators will detail their plan at a press conference on July 14.
\n
The proposal— known as the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act — calls for removing cannabis from the federal list of controlled substances, allowing states to make their own decisions on cannabis. Many states have already moved to legalize recreational or medicinal marijuana use, but it still remains illegal under federal law.
\n
\"By ending the failed federal prohibition of cannabis, the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act will ensure that Americans – especially Black and Brown Americans – no longer have to fear arrest or be barred from public housing or federal financial aid for higher education for using cannabis in states where it’s legal,\" reads the discussion draft. \"State-compliant cannabis businesses will finally be treated like other businesses and allowed access to essential financial services, like bank accounts and loans. Medical research will no longer be stifled.\"
\n
Servers prepare drinks for guests in front of three of the 50 cash registers at a VIP Event at Planet 13, which has an over-the-top superstore dispensary in Las Vegas, is opening what's billed as the \"second-largest cannabis superstore in the world\" on June 24, 2021 in Santa Ana, CA. (Gary Coronado / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)More
\n
The proposal establishes 21 as the minimum age to purchase cannabis and limits retail sales to no more than 10 ounces of cannabis. It calls for federal agencies to research the impacts of cannabis use, legalization and cannabis-impaired driving — including research to establish an impairment standard for driving under the influence of cannabis.
\n
The Democratic trio has been working on the legislation for months. In an interview withYahoo Financeshortly after they announced their plan to work on the proposal, Sen. Wyden said Congress should \"finally recognize that the War on Drugs has failed.\"
\n
The plan would require expungement of federal non-violent cannabis convictions and encourage state and local governments to do the same. It would keep people from being denied federal benefits — such as housing or federal financial aid — because of cannabis use or possession. People who are not U.S. citizens could not be denied benefits or protection under immigration laws.
\n
The plan would also create new grant programs to fund nonprofits that help people who have been \"adversely impacted by the War on Drugs.\" It would make loans available to small businesses in the cannabis industry and help states and localities implement cannabis licensing programs.
\n
People congregate on Union Square for Annual Cannabis rally to celebrate legalization of recreational marijuana in New York State. (Photo by Lev Radin/Pacific Press/LightRocket via Getty Images)MoreExcise taxes
\n
The plan would impose an excise tax on cannabis products, similar to how the government taxes alcohol and tobacco. The general tax rate would be 10% for the year it's enacted and the full year after. It would gradually rise each year to 25%. Starting in the fifth year, the Treasury Secretary would set a rate based on quantity sold or milligrams of THC. Rates would be based on prevailing price of cannabis sold in the U.S. the prior year.
\n
Cannabis producers with less than $20 million in sales annually would be eligible for a tax credit to reduce their rate by 50%.
\n
\"When you can legalize something like this — where millions of millions of Americans have already voted that way — that can be a real plus for the economy. Certainly it can be a real plus for small businesses, for communities of color,\" said Wyden in an interview with Yahoo Finance in February.
\n
Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, Sens. Booker, Wyden, and Schumer
\n
President Joe Biden backed decriminalization of marijuana on the campaign trail, but the White House has not backed legalization efforts. Ron Wyden (D., Oreg.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) are unveiling a discussion draft of their legislation to end the federal prohibition of marijuana. The senators will detail their plan at a press conference on July 14.\nThe proposal— known as the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act — calls for removing cannabis from the federal list of controlled substances, allowing states to make their own decisions on cannabis. Many states have already moved to legalize recreational or medicinal marijuana use, but it still remains illegal under federal law.\n\"By ending the failed federal prohibition of cannabis, the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act will ensure that Americans – especially Black and Brown Americans – no longer have to fear arrest or be barred from public housing or federal financial aid for higher education for using cannabis in states where it’s legal,\" reads the discussion draft. \"State-compliant cannabis businesses will finally be treated like other businesses and allowed access to essential financial services, like bank accounts and loans. Medical research will no longer be stifled.\"\nServers prepare drinks for guests in front of three of the 50 cash registers at a VIP Event at Planet 13, which has an over-the-top superstore dispensary in Las Vegas, is opening what's billed as the \"second-largest cannabis superstore in the world\" on June 24, 2021 in Santa Ana, CA. (Gary Coronado / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)More\nThe proposal establishes 21 as the minimum age to purchase cannabis and limits retail sales to no more than 10 ounces of cannabis. It calls for federal agencies to research the impacts of cannabis use, legalization and cannabis-impaired driving — including research to establish an impairment standard for driving under the influence of cannabis.\nThe Democratic trio has been working on the legislation for months. In an interview withYahoo Financeshortly after they announced their plan to work on the proposal, Sen. Wyden said Congress should \"finally recognize that the War on Drugs has failed.\"\nThe plan would require expungement of federal non-violent cannabis convictions and encourage state and local governments to do the same. It would keep people from being denied federal benefits — such as housing or federal financial aid — because of cannabis use or possession. People who are not U.S. citizens could not be denied benefits or protection under immigration laws.\nThe plan would also create new grant programs to fund nonprofits that help people who have been \"adversely impacted by the War on Drugs.\" It would make loans available to small businesses in the cannabis industry and help states and localities implement cannabis licensing programs.\nPeople congregate on Union Square for Annual Cannabis rally to celebrate legalization of recreational marijuana in New York State. There was free distribution of joints for those who showed vaccination proof as well as signing up. (Photo by Lev Radin/Pacific Press/LightRocket via Getty Images)MoreExcise taxes\nThe plan would impose an excise tax on cannabis products, similar to how the government taxes alcohol and tobacco. The general tax rate would be 10% for the year it's enacted and the full year after. It would gradually rise each year to 25%. Starting in the fifth year, the Treasury Secretary would set a rate based on quantity sold or milligrams of THC. Rates would be based on prevailing price of cannabis sold in the U.S. the prior year.\nCannabis producers with less than $20 million in sales annually would be eligible for a tax credit to reduce their rate by 50%.\n\"When you can legalize something like this — where millions of millions of Americans have already voted that way — that can be a real plus for the economy. Certainly it can be a real plus for small businesses, for communities of color,\" said Wyden in an interview with Yahoo Finance in February.\nCannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, Sens. Booker, Wyden, and Schumer\nPresident Joe Biden backed decriminalization of marijuana on the campaign trail, but the White House has not backed legalization efforts. In December, the Housepassed the MORE Act— which would remove marijuana from the controlled substance list and create restorative justice programs. Earlier this year, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.)reintroducedthe legislation.\nThe senators are asking for input on the proposal by Sept. 1, so they can consider feedback before crafting the final bill. The proposal faces a difficult vote in the evenly-divided Senate.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":286,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":144998082,"gmtCreate":1626258877746,"gmtModify":1703756503806,"author":{"id":"3585568249525256","authorId":"3585568249525256","name":"IsaacTanKc","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f4fc41f7f16f4e0980ddaf0bc64c2046","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585568249525256","authorIdStr":"3585568249525256"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$ still can enter? But a combination of prudent spending and investing can help these overlapping groups of people get through a period of uncertainty brought about by pent-up demand and supply shortages.
\n
Below are two lists of 19 dividend stocks with attractive yields -- companies that are expected to have plenty of cash flow to cover dividend increases or other actions that may be good for shareholders, including stock repurchases and business expansion.
\n
The consumer price index rose by 0.9% in only one month . It's easy to say that you shouldn't buy a car or truck this year. The incredible demand for used vehicles has led to a shortage for many of the most popular new ones, which means dealers will be less likely to haggle.
\n
Of course you might be in a pickle and need to get another car or truck at the worst time, but maybe you can make a modest selection this time. You might also delay a plan to sell your home and move into a bigger one, considering that every other national housing boom you have ever witnessed has eventually cooled. In other words, it is possible some of your big spending plans can be curbed or delayed.
\n
Two dividend stock screens
\n
What do you want from a dividend stock? The most obvious answer is \"income,\" but what may be more important is that the dividend increases over time. That's how you stay ahead of inflation. Even when official inflation figures are low, your personal inflation can be considerable, depending on your circumstances. Or you may need investment income to replace part of your working income when you retire.
\n
Here's a recent list of the 30 stocks in the S&P 500 index whose dividends increased the most over the past five years . Their dividend yields may not have been very high to begin with, but if you had held them for five years, the yields on your five-year-old shares would have grown significantly.
\n
For this new screen, we took a different approach to focus more on higher current dividend yields. Beginning with the S&P Composite 1500 Index (made up of the S&P 500 , the S&P Mid Cap 400 Index $(MID)$ and the S&P Small Cap 600 Index ), we started with stocks with dividend yields of at least 4.26% -- three times the 1.42% yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury notes on July 13.
\n
Then we looked at free cash flow yields. A company's free cash flow is its remaining cash flow after planned capital expenditures. It can be used to increase dividends, buy back stock, pay down debt, business expansion or fund acquisitions. A free cash flow yield that is higher than the dividend yield can provide investors with some comfort that a company is unlikely to cut its dividend and maybe be in a position to increase it.
\n
A trailing free cash flow yield can be calculated by dividing the past four quarters' free cash flow per share by the current share price. If available, consensus estimates for the next 12 months can be used to calculate a forward FCF yield. If the FCF yield is above the current dividend yield, there is free cash flow \"headroom.\" (The screen below only includes companies for which forward FCF estimates were available from FactSet.)
\n
Financial companies were excluded from the screen, as FCF yield analysis isn't appropriate for the group. Companies with fewer than five analysts polled for FactSet's estimates were also excluded. For real estate investment trusts, funds from operations (FFO) is the industry standard for gauging dividend-paying ability. So there is a separate screen for that group below.
\n
Starting with the S&P Composite 1500, here are the eight stocks that made the cut, with dividend yields of at least 4.26%, positive forward and trailing FCF \"headroom\" and no dividend cuts over the past three years, according to data provided by FactSet. The list is sorted by dividend yield:
\n
\n
\n
\n
Company
\n
Dividend yield
\n
Forward FCF yield
\n
Forward \"headroom\"
\n
Trailing FCF yield
\n
Trailing \"headroom\"
\n
\n
\n
Williams Cos. Ordinarily that would appear to be plenty of headroom to support the dividend. But it implies a payout ratio of 62%, which is much higher than the ratio of the current yield to the forward FCF yield.
\n
REITs
\n
For a second screen of real estate investment trusts, we used funds from operations (FFO) instead of free cash flow. FFO adds depreciation on real estate to earnings and nets out gains or losses on the sale of property. Here are the 10 highest-yielding REITs in the S&P Composite 1500 with positive forward and trailing FFO \"headroom\" and no dividend cuts over the past three years, according to data provided by FactSet:
\n
\n
\n
\n
REIT
\n
Dividend yield
\n
Forward FFO yield
\n
Forward \"headroom\"
\n
Trailing FFO yield
\n
Trailing \"headroom\"
\n
\n
\n
Omega Healthcare Investors Inc.
But it shows the No. 1 U.S. automaker's desire to stick to a plan to roll out the vehicle in late 2021, according to two people who asked not to be identified and a union official at GM's CAMI assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, that will ultimately build the van.
\n
GM announced the BrightDrop commercial van business in January.
\n
\"They just want to get them going,\" Mike Van Boekel, chairman of Unifor Local 88, which represents about 1,500 hourly workers at the Canadian plant, said of the decision to use Kuka. \"The orders are coming through so strong.\"
\n
GM did not immediately comment, and Kuka declined to comment.
\n
GM said in June it would end production of the Chevrolet Equinox SUV at CAMI next April and begin production of the electric van there in November 2022 before increasing the number of shifts building it to two in 2023 and three in 2024. It also said it was \"working with supplier partners\" to meet its timetable.
\n
Kuka's production run will number fewer than 500 hand-built models and begin in late October at the supplier's plant in Livonia, Michigan, according to the sources and GM documents.
\n
\"It is unusual. GM said then the first 500 units would be shipped to FedEx by year end, with deliveries to other customers starting in early 2022.
\n
GM's EV600 will use a version of its own Ultium battery system that will power many of its future EVs. It will have a driving range of 250 miles (400 km) between charges.
\n
Last month, GM boosted its spending on electric and autonomous vehicles by about 30% to $35 billion and accelerated plans for two U.S. battery cell plants.
","source":"lsy1612507957220","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
GM turns to supplier to build initial EV vans while it readies plant in Canada
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nGM turns to supplier to build initial EV vans while it readies plant in Canada\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-12 23:18 GMT+8 Reuters\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
DETROIT (Reuters) - General Motors Co is turning to a German parts supplier to make the initial, small production run of its new electric commercial van in a move to get the vehicle quickly into the ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"GM":"通用汽车"},"source_url":"https://finance.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-gm-turns-supplier-build-150851241.html","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1151593546","content_text":"DETROIT (Reuters) - General Motors Co is turning to a German parts supplier to make the initial, small production run of its new electric commercial van in a move to get the vehicle quickly into the hands of customer Fedex, three people familiar with the matter said.\nThe decision to use Kuka AG to build the EV600 vans is not typical in the industry. They want to show they can do this quickly,\" said Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions. \"However, they don't have the plant (in Canada) ready because they're still building Equinoxes.\"\nGM previously said it would invest $800 million in the Canadian plant for the large van's production.\nThe electric commercial van business is attractive because governments in China and Europe are pushing companies to slash CO2 emissions, and companies like FedEx, Amazon and United Parcel Service have pledged to shift their large delivery fleets to EVs.\nIn addition, EV leader Tesla has not cracked the market, and it has become a race for companies like GM, Ford Motor Co, Stellantis, Daimler and startups Rivian, Arrival and Electric Last Mile Solutions to introduce their EV delivery vans.\nGM has estimated the U.S. market for parcel and food delivery vehicles will climb to more than $850 billion by 2025.\nIn January, GM's shares surged after Chief Executive Mary Barra announced the company's entry to the growing electric delivery vehicle business, with plans to begin shipping the first BrightDrop vans to FedEx later this year. GM said then the first 500 units would be shipped to FedEx by year end, with deliveries to other customers starting in early 2022.\nGM's EV600 will use a version of its own Ultium battery system that will power many of its future EVs. It will have a driving range of 250 miles (400 km) between charges.\nLast month, GM boosted its spending on electric and autonomous vehicles by about 30% to $35 billion and accelerated plans for two U.S. battery cell plants.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":67,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":142329804,"gmtCreate":1626133388608,"gmtModify":1703753868297,"author":{"id":"3585568249525256","authorId":"3585568249525256","name":"IsaacTanKc","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f4fc41f7f16f4e0980ddaf0bc64c2046","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585568249525256","authorIdStr":"3585568249525256"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Here we go again","listText":"Here we go again","text":"Here we go again","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/142329804","repostId":"2151553738","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":78,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":142320389,"gmtCreate":1626133360341,"gmtModify":1703753866985,"author":{"id":"3585568249525256","authorId":"3585568249525256","name":"IsaacTanKc","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f4fc41f7f16f4e0980ddaf0bc64c2046","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585568249525256","authorIdStr":"3585568249525256"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Here we go again...
