Unilever Plc warned it will take two years to r","content":"

Unilever Shares Fell Nearly 3% in Premarket Trading. Unilever Plc warned it will take two years to return to the profitability level of 2021 as the worst inflation since the financial crisis erodes the benefits of faster growth.Unilever expects peak inflation in the first half, when raw material costs are forecast to increase by 2 billion euros ($2.3 billion). The operating margin will narrow by as much as 2.4 percentage points in 2022, Unilever said, adding it expects the bulk of the margin to come back in 2023 and a full recovery in 2024.

The stock fell as much as 3.2% in London Thursday morning.

The maker of Dove soap also ruled out making major acquisitions in the foreseeable future after Chief Executive Officer Alan Jope was rebuffed for his attempt to buy GlaxoSmithKline Plc’s consumer healthcare division.

It’s Unilever’s first results since news of its unsuccessful attempt to buy the Glaxo unit, which investors met with criticism, provoking a stock sell-off. Pressure has been rising on Jope after billionaire activist investor Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management LP built a stake in the company. The CEO is being forced to pass on higher costs to consumers, with fourth-quarter pricing at the highest level in a decade.

Commodity costs are rising by more than 20% in aggregate across the consumer goods industry, Chief Financial Officer Graeme Pitkethly said on a call with reporters. Unilever’s expenses are rising by slightly less as its scale allows the company to negotiate more favorable contracts with suppliers, although it’s particularly exposed to to increases in the price of crude oil, which has recently risen 60%, palm oil, which has risen 130%, and soybean oil, which has risen 100%.

“This hasn’t happened in well over a decade, if ever,” Pitkethly said.

The company announced a 3 billion-euro buyback program as it reported a 4.5% gain in underlying sales growth for 2021, the fastest rate in nine years and ahead of analysts’ estimates.

Last month, Unilever said it would cut 1,500 jobs and restructure its divisions to accelerate growth and improve accountability. It's a fact of life that too many must-have things rose in price more than the 5.9% COLA increase scheduled for 2022.
\n
The good news is, having a stake in the right dividend stocks can help many investors more than offset this likely shortfall.
\n
Let's take a look at four great dividend stocks that can supplement Social Security and compensate for the loss, paying special consideration to things like current payouts and dividend reliability.
\n
\n
\n
\n
1. Crown Castle
\n
Dividend yield: 3%
\n
Crown Castle International (NYSE:CCI) isn't a household name. But there's a good chance you or someone in your household relies on Crown Castle's service without even knowing it.

\n
This company owns more than 40,000 cellphone towers and around 80,000 miles worth of fiberoptic cable, leasing access to its infrastructure to more familiar outfits like AT&T and Verizon. As long as you and other consumers need to remain connected to the rest of the world, the telco industry will need a means of keeping those connections in place. This makes for very reliable recurring revenue for Crown Castle.
\n
That reliable revenue has allowed Crown Castle to dish out a dividend in every quarter since 2014 and to raise its annual payout every year since 2018. The yield of 3% may not be thrilling, but given its relatively low risk and secure future, that's a fair payout.
\n
2. Unilever
\n
Dividend yield: 3.8%
\n
Investors keeping close tabs on consumer staples stocks likely know that these companies just aren't paying much these days. Procter & Gamble, for instance, currently sports a lackluster yield of 2.2%, while Clorox's yield of 2.7% isn't all that much better. Neither outfit has beefed up its dividends much recently either.

\n
There are some stocks within the ultra-reliable consumer goods sector, however, that are worth owning for income-minded investors. Chief among them right now is the U.K.'s Unilever PLC (NYSE:UL), sporting a dividend yield of more than 3.8%.
\n
You may be more familiar with the organization than you realize. Unilever is parent to well-known brands including Hellmann's mayonnaise, Dove soap, and Vaseline, just to name a few, as well as a slew of foreign brands most North American investors probably haven't heard of. Unilever's international reach, in fact, is a big part of why it should be so attractive to North American investors.
\n
The company's top line has been shrinking in recent years, but that's mostly the result of divestitures intended to clean up its portfolio so it can operate more efficiently and cost-effectively. It hasn't hurt Unilever's ability to pay its quarterly dividend, which has nearly doubled over the course of the past 12 years.
\n
3. Citigroup
\n
Dividend yield: 3.4%

\n
Citigroup (NYSE:C) isn't just a big bank. It's one of the country's biggest, boasting an asset base of $1.7 trillion. It's also one of the highest-yielding big banking stocks, with a current dividend yield 3.4%.
\n
It's been an uncomfortable industry for investors to get behind of late. Ultra-low interest rates have minimized profit margins on lending, yet the rate increases the Federal Reserve's governors are calling for between now and the end of 2024 may be paired with an economic headwind that crimps demand for new loans.
\n
This concern, however, isn't exactly merited. While the firm inflation prompting those rate increases is expected to persist for the foreseeable future, banks more often than not fare better than expected when inflation remains reasonably tamed. There's little doubt the Fed is going to take whatever action is needed to tamp down the lingering impact of all the ultra-cheap dollars printed out over the course of the past couple of years.
\n
In other words, banks are going to be fine. You may even see their dividend payment growth accelerate just a bit. Citigroup's certainly got some room to make this happen. The bank's third-quarter income of $2.15 per share easily covers the current quarterly payment of $0.51 per share.
\n
4. Pfizer
\n
Dividend yield: 2.7%
\n
Finally, add drugmaker Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) to your list of top stocks to help supplement your Social Security income in 2022.
\n
Most of Pfizer's recent media coverage has focused on its COVID-19 vaccine, and rightfully so. The company anticipates roughly 1 billion total doses of the drug will be administered in 2021, with another 1 billion expected in the coming year. And, with the pandemic still going strong, it remains the top-of-mind consideration for pretty much everything companies and consumers need to do.
\n
The coronavirus pandemic will hopefully wind down eventually, however, and this pharmaceutical giant is no less prepared for that environment than it was back in 2019 before the pandemic took hold. Blockbuster drugs like pneumonia vaccine Prevnar, cancer-fighting Ibrance, blood thinner Eliquis, and arthritis treatment Xeljanz are all part of Pfizer's portfolio. It's a fact of life that too many must-have things rose in price more than the 5.9% COLA increase scheduled for 2022.\nThe good news is, having a stake in the right dividend stocks can help many investors more than offset this likely shortfall.\nLet's take a look at four great dividend stocks that can supplement Social Security and compensate for the loss, paying special consideration to things like current payouts and dividend reliability.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\n\n1. Crown Castle\nDividend yield: 3% \nCrown Castle International (NYSE:CCI) isn't a household name. But there's a good chance you or someone in your household relies on Crown Castle's service without even knowing it.\nThis company owns more than 40,000 cellphone towers and around 80,000 miles worth of fiberoptic cable, leasing access to its infrastructure to more familiar outfits like AT&T and Verizon. As long as you and other consumers need to remain connected to the rest of the world, the telco industry will need a means of keeping those connections in place. This makes for very reliable recurring revenue for Crown Castle.\nThat reliable revenue has allowed Crown Castle to dish out a dividend in every quarter since 2014 and to raise its annual payout every year since 2018. The yield of 3% may not be thrilling, but given its relatively low risk and secure future, that's a fair payout.\n2. Unilever\nDividend yield: 3.8% \nInvestors keeping close tabs on consumer staples stocks likely know that these companies just aren't paying much these days. Procter & Gamble, for instance, currently sports a lackluster yield of 2.2%, while Clorox's yield of 2.7% isn't all that much better. Neither outfit has beefed up its dividends much recently either.\nThere are some stocks within the ultra-reliable consumer goods sector, however, that are worth owning for income-minded investors. Chief among them right now is the U.K.'s Unilever PLC (NYSE:UL), sporting a dividend yield of more than 3.8%.\nYou may be more familiar with the organization than you realize. Unilever is parent to well-known brands including Hellmann's mayonnaise, Dove soap, and Vaseline, just to name a few, as well as a slew of foreign brands most North American investors probably haven't heard of. Unilever's international reach, in fact, is a big part of why it should be so attractive to North American investors.\nThe company's top line has been shrinking in recent years, but that's mostly the result of divestitures intended to clean up its portfolio so it can operate more efficiently and cost-effectively. It hasn't hurt Unilever's ability to pay its quarterly dividend, which has nearly doubled over the course of the past 12 years.\n3. Citigroup\nDividend yield: 3.4% \nCitigroup (NYSE:C) isn't just a big bank. It's one of the country's biggest, boasting an asset base of $1.7 trillion. It's also one of the highest-yielding big banking stocks, with a current dividend yield 3.4%.\nIt's been an uncomfortable industry for investors to get behind of late. Ultra-low interest rates have minimized profit margins on lending, yet the rate increases the Federal Reserve's governors are calling for between now and the end of 2024 may be paired with an economic headwind that crimps demand for new loans.\nThis concern, however, isn't exactly merited. While the firm inflation prompting those rate increases is expected to persist for the foreseeable future, banks more often than not fare better than expected when inflation remains reasonably tamed. There's little doubt the Fed is going to take whatever action is needed to tamp down the lingering impact of all the ultra-cheap dollars printed out over the course of the past couple of years.\nIn other words, banks are going to be fine. You may even see their dividend payment growth accelerate just a bit. Citigroup's certainly got some room to make this happen. The bank's third-quarter income of $2.15 per share easily covers the current quarterly payment of $0.51 per share.\n4. Pfizer\nDividend yield: 2.7% \nFinally, add drugmaker Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) to your list of top stocks to help supplement your Social Security income in 2022.\nMost of Pfizer's recent media coverage has focused on its COVID-19 vaccine, and rightfully so. The company anticipates roughly 1 billion total doses of the drug will be administered in 2021, with another 1 billion expected in the coming year. And, with the pandemic still going strong, it remains the top-of-mind consideration for pretty much everything companies and consumers need to do.\nThe coronavirus pandemic will hopefully wind down eventually, however, and this pharmaceutical giant is no less prepared for that environment than it was back in 2019 before the pandemic took hold. Blockbuster drugs like pneumonia vaccine Prevnar, cancer-fighting Ibrance, blood thinner Eliquis, and arthritis treatment Xeljanz are all part of Pfizer's portfolio. Then there are the 94 different drug trials currently underway, 29 of which are in phase 3, nearing their submission to the FDA for final approval. This depth of revenue-bearing pharmaceuticals sets the stage for long-lived earnings that support continued dividend payments.\nTo this end, the current quarterly dividend of $0.40 a share is only a fraction of the fairly typical $1.34 per share the company earned in Q3. Pfizer has also faithfully paid a dividend every quarter since 1980, and doubled its payout in just the past decade.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":245,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9001803220,"gmtCreate":1641206196375,"gmtModify":1676533582733,"author":{"id":"4087793640976400","authorId":"4087793640976400","name":"mrron","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0a22a980cda398c8e6845f9621937b42","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087793640976400","authorIdStr":"4087793640976400"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Sounds delicious to buy","listText":"Sounds delicious to buy","text":"Sounds delicious to buy","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9001803220","repostId":"2195452305","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2195452305","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1640707200,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2195452305?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-12-29 00:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Don't Want to Stress About Stocks in 2022? In fact, many people are worried that the market is poised for a sharp pullback in the coming year. Experienced investors, however, recognize that enduring market sell-offs is part and parcel of achieving long-term success. This doesn't mean that investors can't fortify their portfolios for when the next market plunge occurs, helping them to sleep soundly at night while others are tossing and turning. And one smart stock to help make one's holdings more hale and hearty is Dover.
\n
Since 1955, Dover has grown into a well-diversified business that provides products and solutions to a wide swath of industries. The company's engineered products segment, for example, provides components for the aerospace and telecommunications markets, while the pump and process solutions segment offers products to the oil and gas industry among others that deal in the handling of industrial liquids. What I find particularly appealing, though, is the company's interest in growth areas like electric vehicles and clean energy. In 2019, Dover inked an agreement with ABB to develop EV-charging infrastructure in Europe. More recently, Dover announced two acquisitions, Acme Cryogenics and RegO, that will strengthen its line of hydrogen and liquid natural gas products and solutions.
\n
Currently, Dover's stock offers investors a modest 1.1% forward dividend yield, but what it lacks in terms of a mouthwateringly high yield, it compensates for with the security that it won't be slashed in the coming quarters. Over the past 10 years, the company has averaged a conservative payout ratio of 37%. And that's not the only perspective from which the dividend appears to be on solid ground. From 2016 to 2020, Dover returned an average of $1.87 annually to shareholders in the form of a dividend. During the same period, the company generated, on average, $4.61 in free cash flow per share. For investors looking for safe companies to buy in 2022, Dover seems to be one stock that should be on their buy lists.

\n
An attractive dividend from an industry-leading company
\n
Daniel Foelber (Clorox): Unlike the S&P 500, which is made up of over 29% tech stocks, most Dividend Aristocrats belong to other, more established sectors of the economy. For example, the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrat ETF (NYSEMKT:NOBL) is an exchange-traded fund that tracks the performance of a basket of Dividend Aristocrats. Over 50% of the fund is in blue chip consumer staple stocks, industrial stocks, and materials stocks.
\n
Clorox is one of the consumer staple names that stands out as a good buy in 2022. After an initial surge during the pandemic, Clorox has vastly underperformed the market as its earnings came in below expectations. For its fiscal year 2021 (FY21), which ended June 30, 2021, Clorox reported much lower earnings and free cash flow than FY20 despite record-high revenue in FY21.
\n

\n
CLX Revenue (Annual) data by YCharts
\n
In its first-quarter FY22 earnings release, Clorox estimated that full-year sales would decline by between 2% and 6% and adjusted earnings per share would come in between $5.40 and $5.70, representing a forward P/E ratio of 31. Negative growth and a high forward valuation isn't exactly a good look for a company coming off a bad year. The main culprit is Clorox's spending. Advertising, sales, and administrative expenses are expected to be 25% of FY22 sales, which is going to weigh on Clorox's margins.

\n
Given all the bad news surrounding Clorox, it may seem weird to buy the stock into what is expected to be such a disappointing year. Yet Clorox stock has already sold off, and any surprising news to the upside could help it recover. What's more, Clorox's diversified portfolio of brands far exceeds just the cleaning industry. Clorox is a balanced company poised to perform no matter the economic cycle. With a 2.7% dividend yield, Clorox is an out-of-favor stock that should be just fine over the long term.
\n
A little-followed Dividend Aristocrat to add to your portfolio
\n
Lee Samaha (Pentair): This was the year when the stay-at-home stocks were supposed to come up against insurmountable comparisons with 2020. The lockdown measures imposed in 2020 had profound impacts on consumer spending patterns, and one of them was the surge in spending on the home. That was of great benefit to pool equipment and water technology company Pentair.
\n
The market expected strong growth from Pentair in the first and second quarters (easy comparisons with 2020) and then a slowing in the second half as the company started to lap tougher comparisons with 2020. That's also the reason why Pentair's management started 2021 forecasting sales growth of 7%-12% in the first quarter, leading into only 3%-5% for the full year.
\n
However, the reality is that following three strong quarters in 2021, management's full-year sales growth guidance now stands at a whopping 21%-22%. The reason? Acquisitions have added a couple of percentage points of growth, but spending on swimming pools and products has remained popular. The interest and investment in swimming pools created by the pandemic seems to have impacted leisure habits.

\n
Moreover, given that Pentair's residential pool products are primarily a replacement market, it's likely that the company has years of good growth ahead of it from the new pools built in the last couple of years. Putting it all together, there's every reason to believe Pentair will have another strong year in 2022.
\n

\n

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Don't Want to Stress About Stocks in 2022? From 2016 to 2020, Dover returned an average of $1.87 annually to shareholders in the form of a dividend. During the same period, the company generated, on average, $4.61 in free cash flow per share. For investors looking for safe companies to buy in 2022, Dover seems to be one stock that should be on their buy lists.\nAn attractive dividend from an industry-leading company\nDaniel Foelber (Clorox): Unlike the S&P 500, which is made up of over 29% tech stocks, most Dividend Aristocrats belong to other, more established sectors of the economy. \nClorox is one of the consumer staple names that stands out as a good buy in 2022. After an initial surge during the pandemic, Clorox has vastly underperformed the market as its earnings came in below expectations. For its fiscal year 2021 (FY21), which ended June 30, 2021, Clorox reported much lower earnings and free cash flow than FY20 despite record-high revenue in FY21.\n\nCLX Revenue (Annual) data by YCharts\nIn its first-quarter FY22 earnings release, Clorox estimated that full-year sales would decline by between 2% and 6% and adjusted earnings per share would come in between $5.40 and $5.70, representing a forward P/E ratio of 31. Negative growth and a high forward valuation isn't exactly a good look for a company coming off a bad year. The main culprit is Clorox's spending. Advertising, sales, and administrative expenses are expected to be 25% of FY22 sales, which is going to weigh on Clorox's margins. \nGiven all the bad news surrounding Clorox, it may seem weird to buy the stock into what is expected to be such a disappointing year. Yet Clorox stock has already sold off, and any surprising news to the upside could help it recover. What's more, Clorox's diversified portfolio of brands far exceeds just the cleaning industry. Clorox is a balanced company poised to perform no matter the economic cycle. With a 2.7% dividend yield, Clorox is an out-of-favor stock that should be just fine over the long term.\nA little-followed Dividend Aristocrat to add to your portfolio\nLee Samaha (Pentair): This was the year when the stay-at-home stocks were supposed to come up against insurmountable comparisons with 2020. The lockdown measures imposed in 2020 had profound impacts on consumer spending patterns, and one of them was the surge in spending on the home. That was of great benefit to pool equipment and water technology company Pentair.\nThe market expected strong growth from Pentair in the first and second quarters (easy comparisons with 2020) and then a slowing in the second half as the company started to lap tougher comparisons with 2020. That's also the reason why Pentair's management started 2021 forecasting sales growth of 7%-12% in the first quarter, leading into only 3%-5% for the full year.\nHowever, the reality is that following three strong quarters in 2021, management's full-year sales growth guidance now stands at a whopping 21%-22%. The reason? Acquisitions have added a couple of percentage points of growth, but spending on swimming pools and products has remained popular. The interest and investment in swimming pools created by the pandemic seems to have impacted leisure habits. \nMoreover, given that Pentair's residential pool products are primarily a replacement market, it's likely that the company has years of good growth ahead of it from the new pools built in the last couple of years. Putting it all together, there's every reason to believe Pentair will have another strong year in 2022.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":234,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":811552275,"gmtCreate":1630333350697,"gmtModify":1676530272951,"author":{"id":"4087793640976400","authorId":"4087793640976400","name":"mrron","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0a22a980cda398c8e6845f9621937b42","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087793640976400","authorIdStr":"4087793640976400"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Trying my luck with mickey and donald ?","listText":"Trying my luck with mickey and donald ?","text":"Trying my luck with mickey and donald ?","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c2a7633d7ca9d2f4f60d17d8d8c25dad","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/811552275","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":258,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":806222338,"gmtCreate":1627659274424,"gmtModify":1703494369005,"author":{"id":"4087793640976400","authorId":"4087793640976400","name":"mrron","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0a22a980cda398c8e6845f9621937b42","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087793640976400","authorIdStr":"4087793640976400"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Opendoor Technologies Inc(OPEN)$still closed tech","listText":"$Opendoor Technologies Inc(OPEN)$still closed tech","text":"$Opendoor Technologies Inc(OPEN)$still closed tech","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/806222338","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":80,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9092088910,"gmtCreate":1644490456612,"gmtModify":1676533932781,"author":{"id":"4087793640976400","authorId":"4087793640976400","name":"mrron","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0a22a980cda398c8e6845f9621937b42","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087793640976400","authorIdStr":"4087793640976400"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Omg, never ending storm.
