faced challenges due to the pandemic and Chinese government regulations, but it is currently undervalued.

The company's sales and gross profit have remained stable despite negative news and regulatory pressures.

Upside risks include opportunities in artificial intelligence, chip design, content strategies, and the evolving landscape of streaming and TV.

Alibaba is a Chinese company. American investors might be concerned with the country's accounting standards and also the US-China relations.

The last couple of years were really tough for Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) and its stock. First, the coronavirus pandemic, second, the Chinese government's regulations rattled the country's tech sector. Right now many risks remain and the stock might fall further. However, BABA does seem undervalued right now.

Recap of my previous article on Alibaba

In my last article, I issued a "Bullish" rating on Alibaba for the following reasons:

The company's stock was quite undervalued. At the same time, most of the sales growth decline was due to the suffering Chinese economy. Note that there was no sales decline. Only the growth pace has slowed down. This is still quite an achievement, given the complicated external factors.

Alibaba had departments that performed well and were very profitable.

Most of the stock price declines were due to the Chinese government's attempts to regulate the largest high-tech companies, Jack Ma's retirement and also the coronavirus-related economic slowdown.

I also compared BABA to the ultra-popular Amazon (AMZN), saying that the latter seemed worse value for money than BABA.

However, the fact the fundamental factors are all there does not mean Alibaba's stock will rise dramatically overnight. Moreover, even if all the fundamental factors are against the company, this does not necessarily mean its stock price would collapse immediately.

Generally speaking, this is particularly true of popular high-tech growth companies. Even if the results are not improving much and the stock valuations are incredibly high, there is still a chance its loyal army of fans will keep pumping the stock price upwards. A lot of investors, or better said speculators, do not quite realize this.

In fact, my first ever article on Alibaba was written in October 2020 and was published under the title "Here Is Why I Dumped My Entire Alibaba Stock Position In Spite Of My Love For The Company". After my analysis was published, BABA stock increased in value. This only lasted for a couple of months, however. But as I am writing this, the company's stock has lost almost 50% of its value since the publication of my article. The point I am making is that you never know what will happen next. In this article I will mostly focus on the new factors.

Alibaba's news

Since Q4 of 2020 has Alibaba's stock been depreciating due to negative news. First, Jack Ma retired. The Ant Group IPO was cancelled, whilst the Chinese authorities charged Alibaba heavy fines. There were also plenty of economic concerns about China, including the country's real estate bubble, its demographics, a potential recession ahead, and the cancellation of a cloud business spin-off.

However, in spite of the negative flow of news, the company's sales and gross profit have not suffered much. In fact, they have remained quite stable. The only exception was 2022, when the net profit was substantially lower compared to 2021. But still, no net loss was recorded. Moreover, as concerns TTM performance, Alibaba is recovering.

Seeking Alpha

In this respect, I fully agree with my fellow Seeking Alpha contributor Steven Fiorillo that the financial performance has not been poor all these years. The only problem here is that Alibaba has not performed like a growth company.

Upside risks

But bears should be aware that BABA stock has plenty of upside risks. The first and foremost is its exposure to artificial intelligence and chips.

In 2022 Alibaba Group's cloud computing division presented a platform for developers to produce AI-enabled edge chips leveraging the RISC-V instruction-set architecture.

The Wujian 600 platform was developed by Alibaba's in-house chip development business. The platform supports edge-AI computing, a form of machine learning that sees AI applications used in physical devices.

Thanks to the platform firms are enabled to design edge-AI Systems-On-Chips that combine multiple computing systems into one package.

The platform will reduce development costs and shorten the design cycle of chips to facilitate the mass production of these AI Systems-On-Chips.

The Wujian 600 will support the development and prototyping of Alibaba Cloud's SoC TH1520, which has already been used inside Alibaba's ecosystem.

As I have mentioned in the previous section, the company's earnings results are not terrible either. In other words, they do not suggest Alibaba is facing incredible earnings and sales growth but they do not show the company is struggling at all. So, the market might eventually realize that and the stock would eventually appreciate.

The fact the tech sector faced some regulatory pressures from the Chinese authorities does not mean it will do so forever. In fact, the country's government is clearly supporting platform companies, meaning that there will be potential easing of probes. Premier Li Qiang's called for regular communication with platforms. Also, the NDRC's endorsed investment projects. All that shows China is willing to use new technologies to drive economic growth and job creation. According to China Briefing, this means the end of the tech crackdown is near. In other words, this too shall pass, whilst the market seems to assume the regulatory crackdown is here to stay.

Another very important factor that investors should be aware of is the company's leadership position in China. JD.com (JD), the country's second e-commerce company, does not have the market share equivalent to that of Alibaba. Although China does, indeed, face problems of slowing demographics and an economic slowdown, it still remains one of the leading growth economies in the world. The Bank of China is increasingly dovish. It has recently held the interest rates unchanged at 2.5% but added some additional liquidity. If the outlook deteriorates further, the Bank of China will highly likely ease further, thus stimulating the country's economy, including the high-tech sector.

Valuations

As I have mentioned above, the company's stock is far too undervalued. Only Prosus (OTCPK:PROSY) is cheaper than BABA in terms of P/E Non-GAAP and even FWD P/E GAAP. As concerns the EV-to-EBITDA and the price-to-book (P/B) ratios, Alibaba's are really low. Only these of JD.com are lower.

Seeking Alpha

Simultaneously, BABA has reasonable profitability margins, including the net income margin and the return on assets, compared to these of its peers.

Seeking Alpha

Not to mention that Alibaba's stock is trading near multi-year lows.

Data by YCharts

Alibaba's earnings have been performing much better than its stock price, another sign of undervaluation.

Data by YCharts

So, overall, we can clearly say that BABA stock is undervalued.

Risks

The first and foremost risk that some analysts do not take into account is the fact the accounting standards in China are different from the ones in the US. Indeed, Chinese companies listed in the US need to publish their accounting reports in accordance with the GAAP regulations.

According to CNN, US inspectors, namely The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), discovered significant shortcomings in audits of companies based in China and Hong Kong that are listed on US stock exchanges. Some time ago the PCAOB received access to auditors' books for the first time. Although this additional regulatory scrutiny was most probably due to the US-China trade war, some US investors might want to be extra cautious, whilst investing in Chinese companies.

Moreover, the relations between the US and China are also getting worse due to tensions around Taiwan. So, there might be additional pressures from the US authorities on Chinese companies. Obviously, Alibaba will also be affected.

As I have mentioned before, the Chinese government now seems to be more lenient towards high-tech companies. But this risk cannot be fully disregarded.

Another obvious risk is that of a full-scale recession. Obviously, the Chinese economy will also record poor performance, whilst Alibaba's EPS indicators will go down.

Conclusion

Although Alibaba is cheap compared to where it is in terms of earnings and sales, many risks remain. The Chinese government has become more lenient towards the high-tech sector. But the deteriorating US-China relations and tensions around Taiwan remain the most obvious political risks. Moreover, investors might remain cautious towards buying Chinese companies' shares, even though Chinese companies listed on US exchanges have to abide by GAAP accounting standards. Finally, many market players want to see high EPS and sales growth, which was not exactly the case with BABA.

Editor's Note: This article discusses one or more securities that do not trade on a major U.S. exchange. However, BABA does seem undervalued right now.Recap of my previous article on AlibabaIn my last article, I issued a \"Bullish\" rating on Alibaba for the following reasons:The company's stock was quite undervalued. At the same time, most of the sales growth decline was due to the suffering Chinese economy. Note that there was no sales decline. Only the growth pace has slowed down. This is still quite an achievement, given the complicated external factors.Alibaba had departments that performed well and were very profitable. Most of the stock price declines were due to the Chinese government's attempts to regulate the largest high-tech companies, Jack Ma's retirement and also the coronavirus-related economic slowdown.I also compared BABA to the ultra-popular Amazon (AMZN), saying that the latter seemed worse value for money than BABA.However, the fact the fundamental factors are all there does not mean Alibaba's stock will rise dramatically overnight. Moreover, even if all the fundamental factors are against the company, this does not necessarily mean its stock price would collapse immediately.Generally speaking, this is particularly true of popular high-tech growth companies. Even if the results are not improving much and the stock valuations are incredibly high, there is still a chance its loyal army of fans will keep pumping the stock price upwards. A lot of investors, or better said speculators, do not quite realize this.In fact, my first ever article on Alibaba was written in October 2020 and was published under the title \"Here Is Why I Dumped My Entire Alibaba Stock Position In Spite Of My Love For The Company\". After my analysis was published, BABA stock increased in value. This only lasted for a couple of months, however. But as I am writing this, the company's stock has lost almost 50% of its value since the publication of my article. The point I am making is that you never know what will happen next. In this article I will mostly focus on the new factors.Alibaba's newsSince Q4 of 2020 has Alibaba's stock been depreciating due to negative news. First, Jack Ma retired. The Ant Group IPO was cancelled, whilst the Chinese authorities charged Alibaba heavy fines. There were also plenty of economic concerns about China, including the country's real estate bubble, its demographics, a potential recession ahead, and the cancellation of a cloud business spin-off.However, in spite of the negative flow of news, the company's sales and gross profit have not suffered much. In fact, they have remained quite stable. The only exception was 2022, when the net profit was substantially lower compared to 2021. But still, no net loss was recorded. Moreover, as concerns TTM performance, Alibaba is recovering.Seeking AlphaIn this respect, I fully agree with my fellow Seeking Alpha contributor Steven Fiorillo that the financial performance has not been poor all these years. The only problem here is that Alibaba has not performed like a growth company.Upside risksBut bears should be aware that BABA stock has plenty of upside risks. The platform will reduce development costs and shorten the design cycle of chips to facilitate the mass production of these AI Systems-On-Chips.The Wujian 600 will support the development and prototyping of Alibaba Cloud's SoC TH1520, which has already been used inside Alibaba's ecosystem. In other words, this too shall pass, whilst the market seems to assume the regulatory crackdown is here to stay.Another very important factor that investors should be aware of is the company's leadership position in China. If the outlook deteriorates further, the Bank of China will highly likely ease further, thus stimulating the country's economy, including the high-tech sector.ValuationsAs I have mentioned above, the company's stock is far too undervalued. Only Prosus (OTCPK:PROSY) is cheaper than BABA in terms of P/E Non-GAAP and even FWD P/E GAAP. As concerns the EV-to-EBITDA and the price-to-book (P/B) ratios, Alibaba's are really low. Only these of JD.com are lower.Seeking AlphaSimultaneously, BABA has reasonable profitability margins, including the net income margin and the return on assets, compared to these of its peers.Seeking AlphaNot to mention that Alibaba's stock is trading near multi-year lows.Data by YChartsAlibaba's earnings have been performing much better than its stock price, another sign of undervaluation.Data by YChartsSo, overall, we can clearly say that BABA stock is undervalued.RisksThe first and foremost risk that some analysts do not take into account is the fact the accounting standards in China are different from the ones in the US. Indeed, Chinese companies listed in the US need to publish their accounting reports in accordance with the GAAP regulations.According to CNN, US inspectors, namely The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), discovered significant shortcomings in audits of companies based in China and Hong Kong that are listed on US stock exchanges. But this risk cannot be fully disregarded.Another obvious risk is that of a full-scale recession. Obviously, the Chinese economy will also record poor performance, whilst Alibaba's EPS indicators will go down.ConclusionAlthough Alibaba is cheap compared to where it is in terms of earnings and sales, many risks remain. Finally, many market players want to see high EPS and sales growth, which was not exactly the case with BABA.Editor's Note: This article discusses one or more securities that do not trade on a major U.S. exchange. Please be aware of the risks associated with these stocks.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":181,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":251309018931416,"gmtCreate":1702391969979,"gmtModify":1702391974216,"author":{"id":"4088159905985710","authorId":"4088159905985710","name":"Pinocchio123","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14ad05699371200fd11cb34a596e25b0","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088159905985710","authorIdStr":"4088159905985710"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"The This has been a lousy year for innovation-heavy growth stocks. Cathie Wood's flagship fund, the Ark Innovation ETF is down about 60% since the end of 2021 and many of its components have fallen even further.

Growth stocks have been tanking because it's easier to focus on potential future cash flows and ignore present-day losses when fresh injections of capital are easy to come by. Rising interest rates have been disastrous for growth stock prices but many of the businesses behind those stocks are stronger than ever.

This pair of growth stocks have been beaten down hard this year despite operations that are either profitable now or quickly moving in the right direction. Here's how buying some shares of these beaten-down stocks before they recover could do wonders for your portfolio over time.

Doximity

Shares of Doximity recently perked up in response to a strong earnings report but the stock is still down 65.2% from the peak it reached last September. The stock is getting hit partly because it flew too close to the sun last year and partly because fear of a recession is pressuring overall spending on digital ads.

Doximity operates a social media platform for doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. As such, the company relies fairly heavily on ad revenue. Investors will be glad to know the downturn in ad revenue experienced by Meta Platforms isn't carrying over to Doximity's extra-resilient niche. Despite a rough period for digital ad spending, Doximity expects 9% to 11% year-over-year revenue growth over the next couple of quarters.

Doximity also leverages the popularity of its social media platform to market physician productivity tools. Tools for telehealth were used more than 200,000 times per day on average during the three months that ended Sep. 30, 2022.

Cautious investors will appreciate that Doximity is already profitable. The stock has been trading at around 55 times trailing earnings. That's a high multiple, but this company's network effect is an advantage that could allow earnings to explode higher in the years ahead. Tucking some shares into a portfolio now to hold for the long run looks like a smart move.

SoFi Technologies

SoFi Technologies was a stock market darling when it began trading publicly in 2021. Unfortunately, it's tumbled 80.3% from the peak it reached last June.

This company got its start about a decade ago by refinancing student loans. This is still a part of its business, but student loans have taken a backseat to auto and personal loans that are far more lucrative.

SoFi's lending business is especially profitable because earlier this year the company obtained a banking charter that allows it to fund loans from a rapidly growing base of consumer deposits. At the end of September, there were 4.7 million members, using 5.9 million financial services products. That was 83% more products than SoFi members were using a year earlier.

Rather than pay a third-party software vendor to manage its customer accounts SoFi bought one. In 2020, it acquired Galileo and its incredibly popular application programming interface (API) for setting up and managing customer accounts. This has been a lousy year for innovation-heavy growth stocks. Cathie Wood's flagship fund, the Ark Innovation ETF is down about 60% since the end of 2021 and many of its components have fallen even further.Growth stocks have been tanking because it's easier to focus on potential future cash flows and ignore present-day losses when fresh injections of capital are easy to come by. Rising interest rates have been disastrous for growth stock prices but many of the businesses behind those stocks are stronger than ever. This pair of growth stocks have been beaten down hard this year despite operations that are either profitable now or quickly moving in the right direction. Here's how buying some shares of these beaten-down stocks before they recover could do wonders for your portfolio over time.DoximityShares of Doximity recently perked up in response to a strong earnings report but the stock is still down 65.2% from the peak it reached last September. The stock is getting hit partly because it flew too close to the sun last year and partly because fear of a recession is pressuring overall spending on digital ads.Doximity operates a social media platform for doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. As such, the company relies fairly heavily on ad revenue. Investors will be glad to know the downturn in ad revenue experienced by Meta Platforms isn't carrying over to Doximity's extra-resilient niche. Despite a rough period for digital ad spending, Doximity expects 9% to 11% year-over-year revenue growth over the next couple of quarters.Doximity also leverages the popularity of its social media platform to market physician productivity tools. Tools for telehealth were used more than 200,000 times per day on average during the three months that ended Sep. 30, 2022.Cautious investors will appreciate that Doximity is already profitable. The stock has been trading at around 55 times trailing earnings. That's a high multiple, but this company's network effect is an advantage that could allow earnings to explode higher in the years ahead. Tucking some shares into a portfolio now to hold for the long run looks like a smart move.SoFi TechnologiesSoFi Technologies was a stock market darling when it began trading publicly in 2021. Unfortunately, it's tumbled 80.3% from the peak it reached last June. This company got its start about a decade ago by refinancing student loans. This is still a part of its business, but student loans have taken a backseat to auto and personal loans that are far more lucrative.SoFi's lending business is especially profitable because earlier this year the company obtained a banking charter that allows it to fund loans from a rapidly growing base of consumer deposits. At the end of September, there were 4.7 million members, using 5.9 million financial services products. That was 83% more products than SoFi members were using a year earlier.Rather than pay a third-party software vendor to manage its customer accounts SoFi bought one. In 2020, it acquired Galileo and its incredibly popular application programming interface (API) for setting up and managing customer accounts. At the end of the third quarter, the Galileo API enabled 124 accounts worldwide, a 40% increase year over year.SoFi is still reporting minor losses on a GAAP basis, but adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) reached $78 million during the trailing 12-month period ended Sep. 30, 2022. This is a stark improvement compared to an adjusted EBITDA loss of $45 million in 2020. The drop occurred as stronger-than-expected economic data added to concerns that the Federal Reserve might need to be more aggressive in its inflation battle than earlier anticipated, even with alarms flashing about a potential economic recession.

Santa Claus tends to come to Wall Street almost every year, bringing a short rally in the last five trading days of December, and the first two days of January. Since 1969, the Santa Rally has boosted the S&P 500 by an average of 1.3%, according to data from Stock Trader’s Almanac.

“December is the seasonally strongest month of the year, particularly in a midterm election year. So, December has been positive most of the time,” said David Keller, chief market strategist at StockCharts.com. “It would actually be very unusual for stocks to sell off dramatically in December.”

Will Wall Street get a Santa Claus Rally?

A rotten year for financial assets has begun drawing to a close under a cloud of uncertainty. Given the Federal Reserve’s tough stance on bringing inflation down to its 2% target and already volatile financial markets, many analysts think investors shouldn’t focus too much on whether Santa Claus ends up being naughty or nice.

“Next week is going to be a huge week for the markets as they attempt to find some footing heading into year end,” said Cliff Hodge, chief investment officer at Cornerstone Wealth, in emailed comments Friday.

That makes the Fed’s rate decisions next week and fresh inflation data even more crucial to equity markets. Friday’s wholesale prices rose more than expected in November, dampening hopes that inflation might be cooling off. The core producer-price index, which excludes volatile food, energy and trade prices, also rose 0.3% in November, up from a 0.2% gain in the prior month, the Labor Department said.

The corresponding November consumer-price index report, due at 8:30 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday, will further show if inflation is subsiding. The CPI increased 0.4% in October and 7.7% from a year ago. The core reading increased 0.3% for the month and 6.3% on an annual basis.

“If the CPI print comes in at 5% on core, then you’d get a real selloff in bonds and in equities. If inflation is still running hotter and you have a recession, can the Fed cut rates? Maybe not. Then you start getting into the stagflation scenarios,” said Ron Temple, head of U.S. equities at Lazard Asset Management.

Traders are pricing in a 77% probability that the Fed will raise its policy interest rate by 50 basis points to a range of 4.25% to 4.50% next Wednesday, the last day of its Dec. 13-14 meeting, according to the CME FedWatch tool. That would be a slower pace than its four consecutive 0.75 point rate hikes since June.

John Porter, chief investment officer and head of equity at Newton Investment Management, expects no surprises next week in terms of how much the Fed will raise interest rates. He does, however, anticipate stock-market investors will closely watch Fed Chair Powell’s press conference for insights into the decision and “hang on every single word.”

“Investors are contorting themselves almost into a pretzel and trying to over-interpret the language,” Porter told MarketWatch via phone. “Listen to what they say, not listen to what you want them to say. They [Fed officials] are going to continue to be vigilant, and they have to watch inflation.”

Does the ‘Santa’ rally really exist?

For years, market analysts have examined potential reasons for the typical seasonal Santa Claus pattern. But with this year still awash in red, some think a rally in late December could become a self-fulfilling prophecy, simply because investors might search for any reason to be slightly merry.

“If everyone’s focused on the positive seasonals, it could become more of this narrative that drives things rather than anything more fundamental,” David Lefkowitz, head of equities Americas of UBS Global Wealth Management, told MarketWatch via phone.

“Markets tend to like the holly-jolly spending season so much, so there’s a name for the rally that tends to happen at the end of the year,” said Liz Young, head of investment strategy at SoFi. “For what it’s worth, I think ‘Santa Claus Rally’ holds as much predictive power as ‘Sell in May and Walk Away,’ which is minimal and coincidental at best.”

Relief rally’s big tests

While the three main U.S. stock indexes booked sharply weekly losses, equities have rallied off the October lows. The S&P 500 has rallied 9.9% from its October low through Friday, while the Dow Jones Industrial AverageDJIA,-0.90%gained 16.5% and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 6.6%, according to Dow Jones Market Data.

However, many top Wall Street analysts also see reasons for alarm, specifically that the stock market’s bounce off the recent lows is likely running out of room.

So, are investors ignoring warnings? Despite talk of the seeming inevitability of a year-end rally, several recent rally attempts failed, while Wall Street’s CBOE Volatility Index, or “fear gauge,” was at 22.86 at Friday’s close. A drop below 20 on the VIX can signify that investor fears about potential market ructions are easing.

U.S. stock indexes closed down on Friday with the S&P 500 losing 0.7%. The Dow dropped 0.9%, and the Nasdaq shed 0.7%. Three major indexes booked a week of sizable losses with the S&P 500 posting a weekly decline of 3.4%. The Dow declined by 2.8% and the Nasdaq Composite was down nearly 4% this week, according to Dow Jones Market Data.

Next week, not long after the CPI and the Fed decision, investors will also receive November retail sales data and industrial production index on Thursday, followed by the S&P Global’s flash PMI readings on Friday.

","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Stock-Market Investors Shouldn’t Count on a \"Santa Claus\" Rally This Year
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Stock-Market Investors Shouldn’t Count on a \"Santa Claus\" Rally This Year\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-12-11 09:53 GMT+8 MarketWatch\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
‘The Santa Claus rally is canceled this year,’ says economistU.S. stocks tend to rally in the final week of December, and carry the upswing into early January. But with this year still awash in red, some think a rally in late December could become a self-fulfilling prophecy, simply because investors might search for any reason to be slightly merry.“If everyone’s focused on the positive seasonals, it could become more of this narrative that drives things rather than anything more fundamental,” David Lefkowitz, head of equities Americas of UBS Global Wealth Management, told MarketWatch via phone.“Markets tend to like the holly-jolly spending season so much, so there’s a name for the rally that tends to happen at the end of the year,” said Liz Young, head of investment strategy at SoFi. “For what it’s worth, I think ‘Santa Claus Rally’ holds as much predictive power as ‘Sell in May and Walk Away,’ which is minimal and coincidental at best.”Relief rally’s big testsWhile the three main U.S. stock indexes booked sharply weekly losses, equities have rallied off the October lows. A drop below 20 on the VIX can signify that investor fears about potential market ructions are easing.U.S. stock indexes closed down on Friday with the S&P 500 losing 0.7%. The Dow dropped 0.9%, and the Nasdaq shed 0.7%. Three major indexes booked a week of sizable losses with the S&P 500 posting a weekly decline of 3.4%. The Dow declined by 2.8% and the Nasdaq Composite was down nearly 4% this week, according to Dow Jones Market Data.Next week, not long after the CPI and the Fed decision, investors will also receive November retail sales data and industrial production index on Thursday, followed by the S&P Global’s flash PMI readings on Friday.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":273,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9953741305,"gmtCreate":1673343085007,"gmtModify":1676538820991,"author":{"id":"4088159905985710","authorId":"4088159905985710","name":"Pinocchio123","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14ad05699371200fd11cb34a596e25b0","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088159905985710","authorIdStr":"4088159905985710"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Share your opinion about this news…","listText":"Share your opinion about this news…","text":"Share your opinion about this news…","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9953741305","repostId":"1110460902","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1110460902","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1673340819,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1110460902?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-01-10 16:53","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tiger Chart | Wall Street Boosts Buy China Calls","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1110460902","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"China's equities have had a strong start to the year. Delta Vacations does not report revenue or earnings, but its parent company Delta groups it with other subsidiaries in its earnings report. The group, which includes Delta Vacations, saw revenue of $1.2 billion in 2019.
\n
Delta Vacations is like a travel agent. It provides customers with one stop vacation planning that also fills Delta flights. It packages tours with thousands of hotels and resorts across the globe. According to James, Delta Vacations serves 330 destinations, and 60 to 70 countries worldwide.
\n
People are ready to splurge, James said. \"Money that they would have normally spent for vacations in 2020, they've been able to apply that towards vacation and travel in 2021 and beyond,\" he said, adding that customers are open to spending more on \"luxury than what they would normally spend money on.\"
\n
'Very aggressive with hiring'
\n
The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) reported 2.2 million passengers traveled through airport security on July 11. \"We know that domestic leisure is very strong, and that we're back to pre-pandemic levels,\" Cowen senior research analyst Helane Becker told Yahoo Finance.
\n
James said that increase in leisure travel is fueling a hiring binge at Delta Vacations. \"We have been very aggressive with hiring. If you look at our call volume within our customer engagement center, that number is in excess of 20% to 30% of what we saw in 2019 volume,\" he said. Before the pandemic, Delta Vacations employed 500 people but the number fell to 300 as the industry locked down with the rest of the world during the pandemic.
\n
James said the most popular destinations right now include the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska and U.S. national parks. European destinations are slowly reopening. Delta Air Lines added several daily flights last week from the U.S. to Amsterdam, Athens, Paris and Rome.
\n
But COVID-19 continues to throw unexpected turbulence in the path of the airline industry's recovery. French President Emmanuel Macron announced Monday that starting July 21 people will have to show proof they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 to board a plane.
\n
Delta Vacations said it helps passengers navigate the constantly changing COVID-19 regulations in different countries. \"That is actually part of what we do to ensure that we're taking the ease of travel and putting it right there in front of the customer,\" James said.
\n
Delta provides that information on its website but James said the airline's partners are required to have appropriate messaging so customers are briefed on what they need to do on the ground in other countries.
\n
\"Making sure that the experience they receive is top notch, both from a Delta Vacations perspective, but also with our partners worldwide,\" he said.
","source":"yahoofinance","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Delta Vacations does not report revenue or earnings, but its parent company Delta groups it with other subsidiaries in its earnings report. The group, which includes Delta Vacations, saw revenue of $1.2 billion in 2019.\nDelta Vacations is like a travel agent. It provides customers with one stop vacation planning that also fills Delta flights. It packages tours with thousands of hotels and resorts across the globe. According to James, Delta Vacations serves 330 destinations, and 60 to 70 countries worldwide.\nPeople are ready to splurge, James said. \"Money that they would have normally spent for vacations in 2020, they've been able to apply that towards vacation and travel in 2021 and beyond,\" he said, adding that customers are open to spending more on \"luxury than what they would normally spend money on.\"\n'Very aggressive with hiring'\nThe Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) reported 2.2 million passengers traveled through airport security on July 11. \"We know that domestic leisure is very strong, and that we're back to pre-pandemic levels,\" Cowen senior research analyst Helane Becker told Yahoo Finance.\nJames said that increase in leisure travel is fueling a hiring binge at Delta Vacations. \"We have been very aggressive with hiring. If you look at our call volume within our customer engagement center, that number is in excess of 20% to 30% of what we saw in 2019 volume,\" he said. Before the pandemic, Delta Vacations employed 500 people but the number fell to 300 as the industry locked down with the rest of the world during the pandemic.\nJames said the most popular destinations right now include the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska and U.S. national parks. European destinations are slowly reopening. Delta Air Lines added several daily flights last week from the U.S. to Amsterdam, Athens, Paris and Rome.\nBut COVID-19 continues to throw unexpected turbulence in the path of the airline industry's recovery. French President Emmanuel Macron announced Monday that starting July 21 people will have to show proof they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 to board a plane.\nDelta Vacations said it helps passengers navigate the constantly changing COVID-19 regulations in different countries. \"That is actually part of what we do to ensure that we're taking the ease of travel and putting it right there in front of the customer,\" James said.\nDelta provides that information on its website but James said the airline's partners are required to have appropriate messaging so customers are briefed on what they need to do on the ground in other countries.\n\"Making sure that the experience they receive is top notch, both from a Delta Vacations perspective, but also with our partners worldwide,\" he said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":140,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":265830738759936,"gmtCreate":1705920623435,"gmtModify":1705920627697,"author":{"id":"4088159905985710","authorId":"4088159905985710","name":"Pinocchio123","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14ad05699371200fd11cb34a596e25b0","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088159905985710","authorIdStr":"4088159905985710"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"The only way I @TO THE MOON ","listText":"The only way I @TO THE MOON ","text":"The only way I @TO THE MOON","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/265830738759936","repostId":"2404611977","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":181,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9926589399,"gmtCreate":1671582833511,"gmtModify":1676538558946,"author":{"id":"4088159905985710","authorId":"4088159905985710","name":"Pinocchio123","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14ad05699371200fd11cb34a596e25b0","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088159905985710","authorIdStr":"4088159905985710"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Nordstrom(JWN)$ ","listText":"$Nordstrom(JWN)$ ","text":"$Nordstrom(JWN)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9926589399","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":238,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9966740710,"gmtCreate":1669664761131,"gmtModify":1676538219401,"author":{"id":"4088159905985710","authorId":"4088159905985710","name":"Pinocchio123","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14ad05699371200fd11cb34a596e25b0","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088159905985710","authorIdStr":"4088159905985710"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Merck(MRK)$ ","listText":"$Merck(MRK)$ ","text":"$Merck(MRK)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9966740710","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":134,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9963500734,"gmtCreate":1668707456628,"gmtModify":1676538100453,"author":{"id":"4088159905985710","authorId":"4088159905985710","name":"Pinocchio123","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14ad05699371200fd11cb34a596e25b0","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088159905985710","authorIdStr":"4088159905985710"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ ","listText":"$Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ ","text":"$Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9963500734","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":190,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
