The waterway is one of the busiest in the world, with about 12% of trade passing through it.\nThe massive cargo ship dominated headlines, but there have been several other disturbances in global trade. In a recent report, JPMorgan analysts pointed to ongoing bottlenecks such as port congestion as well as a shortage of containers and vessels.\n\"In particular, Yantian (Shenzhen) port's incident could potentially evolve into Suez Canal Incident 2.0, leading to shipment delays, longer container turnaround time and container shortage/repositioning issues,\" the bank wrote.\nThe Yantian port in Shenzhen, China is one of the busiest in the world. The region was hit by an uptick of Covid cases in June, whichcaused massive delays at the port, jacking up shipping prices.\nAs parts of the world rebounded from the pandemic, a flurry of spending led to a shortfall of containers. That drove up prices and created massive delays in shipping goods from Asia to elsewhere. JPMorgan said the demand for goods has continued to be supported by an improving global economic outlook.\nResearch firm TS Lombard noted that commodities have surged as Chinese demand recovered. Demand for commodities fromoil to lumber to corn has shot up this yearas economies reopened and vaccination rates climbed — although prices have been volatile recently.\n\"Shipowners are benefitting from the booming commodity trade. Vessel earnings have been at their highest level in a decade so far in 2021 … owing to the rebound in trade volumes, particular minerals and grains into Asia, as well as to strong restocking of iron-ore and coal inventories by China,\" the firm said.\nIt also said as much as 72% of the world's iron ore is transported to China, boosting the shipping sector.\nValue of ships will rise\nPort congestion means that ships will be temporarily held up, keeping vessel supply limited, TS Lombard said.\nAnd that may not be resolved any time soon. According to JPMorgan analysts, new vessel orders will not be delivered until 2023, \"at the earliest time frame.\"\nHigh demand and tight supply, will cause the value of ships to rise. Ships are considered assets for a shipping company, as they generate cash flow.\nThe uptick in the value of the vessels will therefore drive up the net asset value of companies, which is the value of assets minus liabilities. That comes after the grouptwice failed to reach a key deal on their oil output policylast week.\nThe group had sought to increase supply by 400,000 barrels per day from August to December 2021 and proposed extending the duration of cuts until the end of 2022. Last year, to cope with lower demand as Covid hit, OPEC+ agreed to curb output by almost 10 million barrels per day from May 2020 to the end of April 2022.\nThe United Arab Emirates had indicated that,while it was supportive of the proposal to increase supply, it objected to the terms of the extension, which it said should be conditional on increasing its so-called baseline, which determines how much oil a country is allowed to pump.\n\"I certainly think there are some risks that the market may be really sort of discounting at the moment and that is a breakdown of that unity,\" Daniel Hynes, senior commodity strategist at ANZ, told CNBC on Tuesday.\n\"That has been I think by far the biggest advantage of this alliance over the past 18 months … the picture that it presents to the market around a coordinated and very compliant agreement which hasn't really seen any producers expand outside of that,\" he added.\nBut now the risks are rising from that conflict surrounding the baseline number, which production cuts or increases are measured against. The UAE now wants that baseline to be increased so it can produce more.\nIt has argued that it was not alone, as Azerbaijan, Kuwait, Kazakhstan and Nigeria also requested and got new baselines approved since the deal started last year, Reuters reported, citing an OPEC+ source.\nHynes said that the UAE now wanting that \"side agreement\" to increase their output is representing \"a risk now to that unity, to that front.\"\n\"I think that brings risks to oversupply in particular over the medium term,\" he said.\nHynes doesn't rule out weaker prices ahead, but said he doesn't think there will be a price war.\n\"I think that would obviously be at risk if we started to see producers really push their own agenda and in a sense, go outside of that supply agreement,\" he told CNBC.\n\"But you know it's all about perception and I think if the market does perceive that they won't adhere to those current quotas, then clearly, they're going to assume the worst and that would see weak oil prices ultimately,\" he added.\nOil prices had surged to their highest levels in nearly three years on Monday, after the talks were postponed indefinitely.\nOn Tuesday morning during Asia hours, prices rose further.U.S. crudewas at $76.63 per barrel andBrentwas at $77.45 per barrel.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":557,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":890016897,"gmtCreate":1628066136319,"gmtModify":1703500570228,"author":{"id":"4088594964253410","authorId":"4088594964253410","name":"Roxx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7b7917b89cb92fc556de460f23d2fff","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088594964253410","authorIdStr":"4088594964253410"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good article, comment for free","listText":"Good article, comment for free","text":"Good article, comment for free","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/890016897","repostId":"1135289517","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1135289517","pubTimestamp":1628063865,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1135289517?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-08-04 15:57","market":"uk","language":"en","title":"Stock Futures Waver Ahead of Earnings, Data","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1135289517","media":"The Wall Street Journal","summary":"ADP’s jobs report for July is due before the opening bell.\nU.S. stock futures paused ahead of anothe","content":"
ADP’s jobs report for July is due before the opening bell.
\n
U.S. stock futures paused ahead of another wave of corporate earnings updates, a private-sector employment report and services data.
\n
S&P 500 futures traded flat and futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average traded broadly flat. That contrasted with a recent trend of BYD's all-electric cars outselling hybrid ones.\nPassenger car sales in China likely fell 14.9% in June from a year ago, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said Monday. Vehicle sales overall likely fell to 1.93 million units in June, a decline of 16.3% year-on-year and down 9.5% from the prior month, the association said.\nThe figures indicate China's vehicle sales still rose over the last two years.\nBased on the association's estimate, data from Wind shows China would have sold 12.8 million vehicles in the first half of 2021. That's up 24.8% from a year ago and above the 12.3 million units sold in the same period in 2019.\nBYD's overall vehicle sales of 246,689 units in the first half of the year exceeded the 228,072 units sold during the same period in 2019.\nThe company announced in June it shipped 100 all-electric cars to Norway,the first batch of a planned 1,500 vehicles set for delivery to the country by the end of the year.\nThe automaker's latest all-electric car sales also kept BYD wellahead of start-up rivals.\nNiodeliveredmore than 41,900 electric carsduring the first half of 2021.\nHowever, Elon Musk'sTeslaremained a global leader in electric cars,delivering 201,250 vehiclesin the second quarter alone.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":463,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":157085284,"gmtCreate":1625554204748,"gmtModify":1703743584774,"author":{"id":"4088594964253410","authorId":"4088594964253410","name":"Roxx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7b7917b89cb92fc556de460f23d2fff","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088594964253410","authorIdStr":"4088594964253410"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/157085284","repostId":"1115843581","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":498,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
