But in the short and medium term, for a variety of reasons, SE stock is likely to get little affection from the Street.

Moreover, despite the huge, recent decline of the shares, their valuation remains quite elevated.

Rapid Growth and a Positive Long-Term Outlook

Sea Limited’s three largest business – e-commerce, digital financial services, and video games – all appear to be doing very well.

In the third quarter, the gross orders of its e-commerce unit soared 123% year-over-year to $1.7 billion, while its gross market volume jumped 81% to $16.8 billion. In financial services, its total payment volume climbed 111% to $4.6 billion, while the number of its paying users soared 120% from a year ago.

The performance of Sea’s video game business was less impressive, but its quarterly active user base still rose 27% from a year ago to 729 million, while its bookings increased 29% to $1.2 billion and its EBITDA, excluding certain items, rose 22% to $715 million.

So, despite the challenges to all of these businesses and the difficult year-over-year comparisons created by the easing of the pandemic, the growth of all three ranged from quite respectable to tremendous.

Overall, Sea’s sales jumped 122% from last year, reaching $2.7 billion, while its gross profit surged 148% to $1 billion.

Moreover, there are multiple signs that the company has become very adept at expanding its e-commerce business to new markets. For example, the company has already had some success in Brazil, which is, of course, quite far away and very different from Sea’s home base in Southeast Asia.

During Sea’s Q3 earnings call in November, CEO Forrest Lit said, “More than 1 million local sellers in Brazil have registered with {Sea’s e-commerce website) since we started welcoming local sellers in mid-2020.”

Meanwhile, Sea’s e-commerce unit is continuing to move into new geographic markets, as it has recently expanded to Poland, France, Spain and India, Li reported.

Short-Run Issues

Obviously, the market is currently not very enchanted with tech in general and any tech businesses seen as benefiting from the pandemic in particular these days. Unfortunately for Sea, the company’s three main businesses are all in the latter category.

Two other characteristics that the Street does not like at all these days are lack of profitability and a high valuation. Sea has both of these characteristics as well.

In Q3, for example, its net loss came in at $425.26 million. While that loss was 34% better than the $571 million it shed during the same period a year earlier, the company still obviously lost a great deal of money.

On two positive notes, the company’s operating expenses dropped to $713 million in Q3 from $1.45 billion in the year-earlier period, while its EBITDA, excluding certain items, climbed to positive $120.4 million from a loss of $165.45 million.

Nevertheless, large investors are still likely to view Sea as an unprofitable enterprise.

And on the valuation front, SE stock is changing hands for nearly 15x Sea’s trailing 12-month revenue. That’s way down from the stock’s valuation of 23.6x trailing sales as of Sept. 30, but it’s still a very high price to pay for the shares.

The Bottom Line on SE Stock

Sea is rapidly growing and has tremendous long-term potential. But as shown by the fact that its shares tumbled by 33% in the last month, it’s not a good stock to buy in the current market.

As a result, rather than try to catch this falling knife, investors should wait for the market’s attitude towards names like SE stock to improve before taking a bullish position in it. Those who follow that advice will almost certainly get a better price and sleep more easily at night than those who don’t.

","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
For Now, Sea Limited Stock Is a Falling Knife
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nFor Now, Sea Limited Stock Is a Falling Knife\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-27 10:56 GMT+8 investorplace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Over the long term, Sea Limited (NYSE:SE) stock – propelled by the company’s strong, rapidly growing e-commerce, financial services and video game businesses – should deliver very impressive financial...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"SE":"Sea Ltd"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2022/01/for-now-se-stock-is-a-falling-knife/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1124110006","content_text":"Over the long term, Sea Limited (NYSE:SE) stock – propelled by the company’s strong, rapidly growing e-commerce, financial services and video game businesses – should deliver very impressive financial results. Not only NIO continues to improve its top and bottom-line performances quarter after quarter, but it’s also able to increase its Y/Y deliveries at a double-digit rate and is on track to deliver a record number of electric vehicles this year. On top of that, the launch of new models in the following years should also help the company to establish a greater presence in the ever-growing Chinese EV market. For that reason, we continue to own NIO’s shares and have no plans to unwind our position anytime soon.
\n
More Upside Ahead
\n
Founded in 2014, NIO develops three different premium electric SUVs under the names ES6, ES8, and EC6, but next year the company also plans to release an electric sedan called ET7, which will come with a solid-state battery. Thanks to the successful performance since the beginning of the pandemic, NIO became one of the dominant Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, which helped its shares to significantly outperform the rest of the market in the last 12 months. As of today, we continue to believe that NIO’s stock is one of the most attractive Chinese-based EV plays on the market right now.
\n
Chart: Seeking Alpha
\n
Just last week NIO reported successful earnings results forQ2. Its revenues for the period were $1.31 billion, up 127% Y/Y, while its gross profit of $243.8 million was up 402.7% Y/Y. In addition, its vehicle margin increased to 20.3% at the end of the period, up from 9.7% a year ago. At the same time, the company’s non-GAAP EPS of -$0.07 was above the estimates by $0.04, as its net loss narrowed to $90.9 million. On top of all of this, NIO has also reached its goal of delivering nearly 22,000 vehicles during the quarter, despite the ongoing chip shortage crisis, which affected and continues to affect every automaker in the world from the beginning of this year.
\n
The positive thing about NIO is that just like Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA), the company started selling luxury electric vehicles first, but now it’s on its way to enter the mass market and create more affordable vehicles, which will lead to an even greater growth of the business. The company expects to launch three additional models in the next couple of years, one of which will be a new sedan ET7. On top of that, the company is also expected to continue to increase the number of cars sold in the following quarters and in Q3, it expects to deliver 23,000 to 25,000 vehicles, above the previous guidance of 21,000 to 22,000 vehicles. If that goal is reached, then NIO will be able to generate $1.38 billion to $1.49 billion in revenues during the quarter, which represents a growth of 97% Y/Y to 113% Y/Y. The completion of the quarterly goal will also help NIO to reach another goal of delivering 90,000 to 100,000 vehicles this fiscal year. As for the next year, it’s also likely that NIO will deliver even more vehicles since recently it reached a deal with its manufacturer Jianghuai Automobile Group to extend the manufacturing agreement up to 2024 and increase the annual capacity to up to 240,000 vehicles. As a result, investors should expect the growth of deliveries to continue in the following years.
\n
Another advantage of NIO is that all of its business is concentrated in China, which is the largest electric vehicle market in the world. Currently, China expects that 20% of all cars sold in the country will be EVs by 2025, while there are also predictions that by 2030 70% of new cars sold in the region will be electric. As a result, it’s safe to assume that the Chinese EV market will continue to grow at a double-digit rate at least until the end of the current decade. Therefore, as the penetration rate of electric vehicles on Chinese roads increases every year, NIO, as one of the most popular EV manufacturers in the country, has all the chances to continue to establish a stronger presence and increasing its foothold in the domestic market. This will inevitably lead to the creation of additional shareholder value in the long term, especially since thanks to the help of Chinese subsidies, its cars are becoming more affordable for consumers in comparison to Tesla, which is slowly losing ground in the region and is no longer the best-selling EV manufacturer in the region.
\n
On top of all of this, the potential trade war between China and the United States is also a positive thing for NIO, since it’s very likely that Beijing will put more regulatory pressure on American businesses such as Tesla, which sees China as the second-biggest market after the US. Tesla is already under a lot of scrutiny in the region and additional pressure from the authorities could pave the way for NIO and others to take an additional market share from the foreign competitor. In addition, since NIO doesn’t have a presence in the United States, the increased hostilities between China and the US are unlikely to hurt the company.
\n
Considering all of this, NIO has everything going for it to continue to dominate the Chinese EV market and expand its foothold there. The company’s solid Q2 results and positive Q3 guidance shows that the demand for its vehicles is out there so the momentum is unlikely to fade anytime soon. For that reason, we stick to our belief that as long as deliveries continue to increase at an aggressive rate, NIO’s stock will likely be appreciating and creating additional shareholder value in the long term.
\n
While recently its shares slightly declined due to the negative market sentiment regarding Chinese stocks, we believe that the decline was a market overreaction. It’s very unlikely that NIO will be strictly regulated by the Chinese government anytime soon, as it’s in the interest of Beijing to help NIO and others become more successful in order to reach its climate goals on time and become a carbon-neutral nation by 2060. Therefore, the recent depreciation of NIO shares created a good buying opportunity for new investors.
\n
One of the biggest upsides of NIO is that its gross profit continues to increase, while losses continue to narrow with every quarter. Thanks to this, the company has all the chances to break even and become profitable in 2023. On top of that, NIO has a solid balance sheet, as it had $7.26 billion in liquidity and only $1.52 billion in long-term debt at the end of Q2, which will help it to continue to fund its growth. In addition, the company is forecasted to generate $5.62 billion in revenues in FY21, and $9.39 billion in revenues in FY22, which represents a growth of nearly 70% Y/Y. Thanks to such an expected double-digit growth of its revenues, it’s safe to say that NIO is a good growth stock to own, especially since it has an upside of ~60% from the consensus street price of $61.83 per share. Considering this, we continue to hold NIO shares in our portfolio and have no plans to sell them anytime soon.
","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
NIO: Buy The Dip Before It's Too Late
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nNIO: Buy The Dip Before It's Too Late\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-23 10:29 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nNIO continues to outperform expectations and improve its performance quarter after quarter.\nThe company has more than enough catalysts, which will help it to create additional shareholder ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"NIO":"蔚来","TSLA":"特斯拉"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4451138-nio-stock-buy-dip-before-too-late","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/5a36db9d73b4222bc376d24ccc48c8a4","article_id":"1120211190","content_text":"Summary\n\nNIO continues to outperform expectations and improve its performance quarter after quarter.\nThe company has more than enough catalysts, which will help it to create additional shareholder value in the foreseeable future.\nWe continue to own NIO’s shares and have no plans to unwind our position anytime soon.\nLooking for a helping hand in the market? On top of all of this, NIO has also reached its goal of delivering nearly 22,000 vehicles during the quarter, despite the ongoing chip shortage crisis, which affected and continues to affect every automaker in the world from the beginning of this year.\nThe positive thing about NIO is that just like Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA), the company started selling luxury electric vehicles first, but now it’s on its way to enter the mass market and create more affordable vehicles, which will lead to an even greater growth of the business. As a result, investors should expect the growth of deliveries to continue in the following years.\nAnother advantage of NIO is that all of its business is concentrated in China, which is the largest electric vehicle market in the world. This will inevitably lead to the creation of additional shareholder value in the long term, especially since thanks to the help of Chinese subsidies, its cars are becoming more affordable for consumers in comparison to Tesla, which is slowly losing ground in the region and is no longer the best-selling EV manufacturer in the region.\nOn top of all of this, the potential trade war between China and the United States is also a positive thing for NIO, since it’s very likely that Beijing will put more regulatory pressure on American businesses such as Tesla, which sees China as the second-biggest market after the US. Tesla is already under a lot of scrutiny in the region and additional pressure from the authorities could pave the way for NIO and others to take an additional market share from the foreign competitor. In addition, since NIO doesn’t have a presence in the United States, the increased hostilities between China and the US are unlikely to hurt the company.\nConsidering all of this, NIO has everything going for it to continue to dominate the Chinese EV market and expand its foothold there. The company’s solid Q2 results and positive Q3 guidance shows that the demand for its vehicles is out there so the momentum is unlikely to fade anytime soon. For that reason, we stick to our belief that as long as deliveries continue to increase at an aggressive rate, NIO’s stock will likely be appreciating and creating additional shareholder value in the long term.\nWhile recently its shares slightly declined due to the negative market sentiment regarding Chinese stocks, we believe that the decline was a market overreaction. It’s very unlikely that NIO will be strictly regulated by the Chinese government anytime soon, as it’s in the interest of Beijing to help NIO and others become more successful in order to reach its climate goals on time and become a carbon-neutral nation by 2060. Therefore, the recent depreciation of NIO shares created a good buying opportunity for new investors.\nOne of the biggest upsides of NIO is that its gross profit continues to increase, while losses continue to narrow with every quarter. Considering this, we continue to hold NIO shares in our portfolio and have no plans to sell them anytime soon.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":273,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9002410139,"gmtCreate":1642065211148,"gmtModify":1676533677384,"author":{"id":"4091783136376870","authorId":"4091783136376870","name":"oklebs","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4091783136376870","idStr":"4091783136376870"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh at supercharged rates, but their stock prices haven't necessarily followed.","content":"
Key Points
\n
\n
Airbnb's flexible model gave it leverage over the past few months.
\n
Disney's parks are still not fully open, but they're recovering.
\n
Though Upstart is pricy, the company is growing fast.
\n
\n

\n
August is the thick of the second-quarter earnings season. This year is particularly suspenseful as companies match up against the second quarter of 2020, where some of them got a huge pandemic boost, and others got a huge pandemic bashing. Many companies have bounced back big, topping 2019 numbers, and others have demonstrated lackluster growth in the face of tough comparisons.
\n
Investors have rewarded stocks accordingly. They sent Home Depot stock down this week after it posted weak comps after a huge surge last year, and they rewarded Coca-Cola in July after it posted a 42% revenue rise.
\n
But things are not quite that simple, and investors should focus on the long-term outlook when evaluating a stock. That's why I'm going with Airbnb(NASDAQ:ABNB),Walt Disney(NYSE:DIS), and Upstart Holdings(NASDAQ:UPST)as hot stocks to buy this month. All three posted incredible growth in the second quarter, and they all have enormous upside.
\n
\n
Travel is back, and Airbnb is leading the way
\n
Airbnb already demonstrated signs of a comeback in the first quarter of 2021, with a 5% revenue increase after staggering declines in 2020. But the second quarter was just monstrous, with revenue increasing 299% and gross booking value increasing 320% year over year.
\n
That's way better than a simple pandemic comparison. And all the reasons it made such a fierce recovery are the same ones why it has so much potential to stay ahead of traditional travel and widen its lead. Most of those reasons flow from the same source: its adaptive and flexible model. That means that as travel shifts, Airbnb shifts along with it.
\n
As signs of recovery come into view, that became visible in a few ways. One was an increase in stays of a month or more. More people are using Airbnb rentals as a home rather than a vacation, which isn't nearly as feasible in traditional travel accommodations. Another is customers branching out into off-the-beaten-path destinations. That's also more challenging with standard hotels, which you can't always find in far-flung locations.
\n
One way to see Airbnb's strength is how it turns it's nights booked into revenue. Nights booked increased 197% in Q2 year over year, and they decreased 1% from 2019. But Airbnb's revenue skyrocketed past that number. That means it's making more money from its bookings, and it demonstrates resilience. It's also turning more of that revenue into profit, as net loss contracted from over $576 million in Q2 2020, and more than $1 billion in Q1 2021, to $68 million in Q2 2021.
\n
Despite what seemed like a breakout quarter, investors snubbed the travel company. That might be because it's already somewhat expensive, trading at almost 20 times sales. But that's typical for a growth company, and it shouldn't stop you from taking a position.
\n
Disney's back in action
\n
Disney, on the other hand, is a perpetual crowd pleaser, both in its parks and in the markets. And it came through big in the third quarter, growing revenue 45%. That reversed the 42% decline in Q3 2020, despite parks functioning at limited capacity and other experiences still not running at all. All told, third-quarter sales came in just 16% below the same period of 2019, before the start of the coronavirus pandemic
\n
Parks revenue rebounded with a more than 300% increase in Q3, or about two-thirds of the 2019 metric, and it accounted for about a quarter of the company's total sales. Media and entertainment distribution, the newly structured content-based segment, increased 18%. Streaming remained the most aggressive revenue driver in Q3, reaching almost 174 million accounts for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ and topping estimates.
\n
The compelling story for Disney stock comes from all of its businesses combined. There simply isn't another media company on the global scene that combines best-in-class parks and resorts with an unrivaled film library. CEO Bob Chapek has promised lots of new content, including Marvel and Star Wars series that are likely to be big winners and drive membership.
\n
Disney stock is down 3% year to date as of this writing, but there's so much upside to unlock for the top stock in the entertainment sector.
\n
\n
Artificial intelligence for banking
\n
Despite a slow initial public offering in December, Upstart exploded into one of the hottest stocks on the market, gaining 420% year to date. Investors finally caught onto the company's vast potential offering an artificial intelligence platform for small banking clients.
\n
Upstart's platform evaluates customer creditworthiness based on thousands of data points for an accurate risk assessment. This results in more approvals, putting more money in the client bank's coffers with less risk involved, a true win-win.
\n
\"Our second-quarter results continue to show why Upstart has the potential to be among the world's largest and most impactful fintechs,\" Upstart CEO Dave Girouard said in the company's Q2 earnings release. That confidence is warranted when you see what kind of growth Upstart is experiencing.
\n
In the second quarter, revenue increased more than 1,000%, and loans originated increased more than 1,600%. It moved to a profit from a loss last year, and it expects similarly spectacular results in the third quarter.
\n
The only problem with Upstart stock is how expensive the stock has become over the past few months. This year is particularly suspenseful as companies match up against the second quarter of 2020, where some of them got a huge pandemic boost, and others got a huge pandemic bashing. Many companies have bounced back big, topping 2019 numbers, and others have demonstrated lackluster growth in the face of tough comparisons.\nInvestors have rewarded stocks accordingly. They sent Home Depot stock down this week after it posted weak comps after a huge surge last year, and they rewarded Coca-Cola in July after it posted a 42% revenue rise.\nBut things are not quite that simple, and investors should focus on the long-term outlook when evaluating a stock. That's why I'm going with Airbnb(NASDAQ:ABNB),Walt Disney(NYSE:DIS), and Upstart Holdings(NASDAQ:UPST)as hot stocks to buy this month. All three posted incredible growth in the second quarter, and they all have enormous upside.\nIMAGE SOURCE: AIRBNB.\nTravel is back, and Airbnb is leading the way\nAirbnb already demonstrated signs of a comeback in the first quarter of 2021, with a 5% revenue increase after staggering declines in 2020. But the second quarter was just monstrous, with revenue increasing 299% and gross booking value increasing 320% year over year.\nThat's way better than a simple pandemic comparison. And all the reasons it made such a fierce recovery are the same ones why it has so much potential to stay ahead of traditional travel and widen its lead. Most of those reasons flow from the same source: its adaptive and flexible model. That means that as travel shifts, Airbnb shifts along with it.\nAs signs of recovery come into view, that became visible in a few ways. One was an increase in stays of a month or more. More people are using Airbnb rentals as a home rather than a vacation, which isn't nearly as feasible in traditional travel accommodations. Another is customers branching out into off-the-beaten-path destinations. That's also more challenging with standard hotels, which you can't always find in far-flung locations.\nOne way to see Airbnb's strength is how it turns it's nights booked into revenue. Nights booked increased 197% in Q2 year over year, and they decreased 1% from 2019. But Airbnb's revenue skyrocketed past that number. That means it's making more money from its bookings, and it demonstrates resilience. It's also turning more of that revenue into profit, as net loss contracted from over $576 million in Q2 2020, and more than $1 billion in Q1 2021, to $68 million in Q2 2021.\nDespite what seemed like a breakout quarter, investors snubbed the travel company. That might be because it's already somewhat expensive, trading at almost 20 times sales. But that's typical for a growth company, and it shouldn't stop you from taking a position.\nDisney's back in action\nDisney, on the other hand, is a perpetual crowd pleaser, both in its parks and in the markets. And it came through big in the third quarter, growing revenue 45%. That reversed the 42% decline in Q3 2020, despite parks functioning at limited capacity and other experiences still not running at all. All told, third-quarter sales came in just 16% below the same period of 2019, before the start of the coronavirus pandemic\nParks revenue rebounded with a more than 300% increase in Q3, or about two-thirds of the 2019 metric, and it accounted for about a quarter of the company's total sales. Media and entertainment distribution, the newly structured content-based segment, increased 18%. Streaming remained the most aggressive revenue driver in Q3, reaching almost 174 million accounts for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ and topping estimates.\nThe compelling story for Disney stock comes from all of its businesses combined. There simply isn't another media company on the global scene that combines best-in-class parks and resorts with an unrivaled film library. CEO Bob Chapek has promised lots of new content, including Marvel and Star Wars series that are likely to be big winners and drive membership.\nDisney stock is down 3% year to date as of this writing, but there's so much upside to unlock for the top stock in the entertainment sector.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\nArtificial intelligence for banking\nDespite a slow initial public offering in December, Upstart exploded into one of the hottest stocks on the market, gaining 420% year to date. Investors finally caught onto the company's vast potential offering an artificial intelligence platform for small banking clients.\nUpstart's platform evaluates customer creditworthiness based on thousands of data points for an accurate risk assessment. This results in more approvals, putting more money in the client bank's coffers with less risk involved, a true win-win.\n\"Our second-quarter results continue to show why Upstart has the potential to be among the world's largest and most impactful fintechs,\" Upstart CEO Dave Girouard said in the company's Q2 earnings release. That confidence is warranted when you see what kind of growth Upstart is experiencing.\nIn the second quarter, revenue increased more than 1,000%, and loans originated increased more than 1,600%. It moved to a profit from a loss last year, and it expects similarly spectacular results in the third quarter.\nThe only problem with Upstart stock is how expensive the stock has become over the past few months. It now trades at nearly 300 times trailing-12-month earnings. That's a hefty premium. Keep in mind, though, many of today's greatest all-time gainers have traded at such a premium at one time or another. So while it may take time for the stocks to catch up to this pricy valuation, the way things are going and look to be continuing, you'll still have a lot of bang for your buck.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":272,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":835194680,"gmtCreate":1629691664040,"gmtModify":1676530101514,"author":{"id":"4091783136376870","authorId":"4091783136376870","name":"oklebs","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4091783136376870","idStr":"4091783136376870"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy ","listText":"Buy ","text":"Buy","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/835194680","repostId":"1120211190","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":273,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9004399440,"gmtCreate":1642498363424,"gmtModify":1676533715701,"author":{"id":"4091783136376870","authorId":"4091783136376870","name":"oklebs","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4091783136376870","idStr":"4091783136376870"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Agree","listText":"Agree","text":"Agree","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9004399440","repostId":"1156817180","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1156817180","pubTimestamp":1642496488,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1156817180?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-18 17:01","market":"us","language":"en","title":"2 reasons why now is not the time to buy the dip in beaten-down innovation stocks championed by Ark Invest, according to DataTrek","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1156817180","media":"Markets Insider","summary":"Investors shouldn't buy the dip in disruptive innovation stocks, according to DataTrek Research. The ","content":"

Investors shouldn't buy the dip in disruptive innovation stocks, according to DataTrek Research.

The steep decline in speculative tech names is akin to the meltdown after the dot-com bubble in the 2000s.

"We don't think we are in a market that is ready to cycle back into speculative tech," DataTrek said.

Spencer Platt/Getty Images

The steep decline in speculative stocks championed by Ark Invest's Cathie Wood doesn't yet represent an opportunity for investors to buy the dip, according to a Friday note from DataTrek Research.

Ark Invest's flagship fund has fallen 50% from its record high, with some of its top holdings like Teladoc and Zoom Video down 74% and 64%, respectively.
