Technologies Inc. surged more than 21% in morning trading after the company reported the fourth consecutive quarter of profitability and highest earnings since its founding 20 years ago, citing strong demand for new artificial intelligence offerings. The Denver-based data analysis company said Thursday it expects adjusted operating income for the year in the range of $607 million to $611 million, beating an average of analyst estimates of $577 million. The company also said it expects 2023 revenue of about $2.22 billion, narrowly outpacing analyst expectations. Palantir, famous for its work with intelligence agencies and its billionaire co-founder Peter Thiel, reported $72 million net income in the quarter ending Sept. 30 and a 17% rise in revenue, to $558 million.“We earned the most significant profit in our company’s twenty-year history,” Palantir Chief Executive Officer Alex Karp wrote in a letter to shareholders Thursday. “With these results, our company is now eligible for inclusion in the S&P 500, a milestone that we have been working towards and knew was within reach.”Long criticized on Wall Street for relying too heavily on engineers customizing its software for individual customers, Palantir has automated more work in recent years. The revenue it generates per employee nearly doubled in the past four years, Karp said in the letter.Palantir’s stock has been on a tear since it announced high demand for its AI offerings earlier this year, with the debut of a new product called the Artificial Intelligence Platform. Karp said this summer that the tools were so powerful he wasn’t sure he should even sell it to some customers.Palantir has made progress on getting customers set up with its products faster than in the past, Chief Legal and Business Affairs Officer Ryan Taylor told Bloomberg in an interview. Instead of trial runs allowing users to experiment with its technology, the company is increasingly hosting “bootcamps” to train and convert potential customers into paying subscribers. What used to take as long as three months can now be achieved in one to five days, Taylor said. The number of US-based commercial customers at the company grew 37% in the third quarter to reach 181. Meanwhile, commercial revenue climbed 23% to $251 million. That outpaced revenue growth from government customers, which rose 12% to hit $308 million. The company’s revenue from governments missed analyst expectations of $319 million.Palantir Chief Financial Officer David Glazer said in an interview that the slower government spending during the third quarter reflected “near-term uncertainty” related to budgeting.Palantir ended the quarter with $3.3 billion in cash, cash equivalents and short-term US Treasury securities.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"PLTR":1.1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3428,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":232873674473744,"gmtCreate":1697882505851,"gmtModify":1697882509835,"author":{"id":"4093058604760480","authorId":"4093058604760480","name":"GggSlimeR","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4b805c8472adab6d9418f36452434a56","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4093058604760480","idStr":"4093058604760480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thanks,Do This is the first contested election since 2011, which saw former President Tony Tan winning the final vote.Contesting in the 2023 Presidential Election are former GIC chief investment officer Ng Kok Song, former Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam and former NTUC Income chief executive and second-time candidate Tan Kin Lian.Polling stations will open from 8am to 8pm, after which counting of the votes will begin. Here’s what you need to know about how your votes will be counted. What is the sample count and why is it important? The Elections Department Singapore (ELD) first started publicly releasing sample counts in the 2015 General Election. The sample count is done at the start of the counting process and gives an early indication of the election outcome ahead of the final tally. ELD said sample counts are done to prevent speculation and misinformation from unofficial sources while counting is underway, before election results are announced.A sample count also helps election officials check against the election result. How is the sample count calculated? A counting assistant at each of the 1,264 polling stations – up from 1,097 at the last General Election – will pick a random bundle of 100 ballot papers and count the number of votes for each candidate. This will be done in front of the candidates or their counting agents at each polling station. The votes will be added up, with weightage given according to the number of votes cast at each polling station. The sample count will be shown as a percentage of valid votes for each candidate. The assistant returning officer then records the votes for each candidate in a form and tells the candidates or their counting agents at each polling station the sample count results. The sample count will also be released to the media and published on the ELD website while counting is still in progress. The public should wait for the returning officer’s announcement to know the election result, ELD said, adding that the final result could be different from the sample count. When does counting start? The counting of votes cast in Singapore will begin immediately after polls close. This usually takes place on the night of Polling Day and may continue into the early hours of the next day.Once polls close at 8pm, the slits on the ballot boxes through which votes are dropped in are sealed. The ballot boxes are then transported to the assigned counting places for the votes to be counted. Each counting place will be designated to count the votes cast at one or more polling stations.Counting will start as soon as all the ballot boxes that are designated for counting at the same place have been received.ADVERTISEMENTWhat is considered an invalid vote? When votes are being counted, some ballot papers may be rejected if:They do not bear the complete official mark or there is no initial by the presiding officerThey are unmarkedThey are void for uncertaintyVotes are given to more than one candidateAnything is written or marked by which the voter can be identified such as if the voter signs or writes their name or NRIC numberOnly marks made within the designated boxes on ballot papers will be counted. If a voter makes a mark outside of the designated boxes, the assistant returning officer must disregard that mark when determining whether the voter has given their vote to any candidate.A ballot paper will not be treated as void even if voters mark the designated area with something other than a cross or with more than one marking. This is as long as the intention of the voter on which candidate they are voting for is clear, and that the paper is marked in a way that does not identify the voter. Will there be a recount? The returning officer must conduct a recount if the difference between the number of votes for the candidate with the most votes and for any other candidate is 2 per cent or less. This percentage is of the total votes cast, and does not include rejected or tendered votes. According to the ELD website, tendered ballot papers are issued to individuals who insist on voting even after the election official informs them that they have already been recorded as having cast their vote. No recounting of overseas votes will be conducted if the votes have no impact on the election outcome. If the overseas votes have an impact on the election results – if the number brings the margin of difference to within 2 per cent between the top two candidates – a recount of the overseas votes will be conducted. How are overseas votes counted?Postal voting for overseas Singaporeans will be used for the first time during the Presidential Election, after changes to election laws were passed earlier this year. There are also 10 overseas polling stations in the following cities: Beijing, Canberra, Dubai, Hong Kong, London, New York, San Francisco, Shanghai, Tokyo and Washington. All ballot papers cast by overseas voters must reach Singapore within 10 days after Polling Day. The returning officer will arrange for the counting of overseas votes to be conducted in the presence of the candidates and their counting agents as soon as practicable after the 10th day from Polling Day.The returning officer may extend the time for overseas votes to reach Singapore by another seven days if two conditions are fulfilled: The total number of overseas voters is material to the election outcome, and the returning officer is satisfied that more time is needed for the overseas votes to reach Singapore in the event of disruptions in overseas postal services. The rules relating to the counting, recounting and rejection of votes cast locally are generally applicable to votes cast at overseas polling stations. For votes cast by post, a pre-count examination of postal voting papers comprising the return envelope with the postal ballot papers enclosed will be conducted to ensure only bona fide postal ballot papers are counted. This will help to sieve out return envelopes that do not meet the criteria to be accepted for counting, such as those torn or with stamps dated on Polling Day or later. When will the results be announced? When counting is completed for all the votes cast, including any recount, the returning officer will tally the number of votes given to each candidate based on the records of counting received. Once this is ascertained, the returning officer will announce the number of votes given to each candidate to the candidates and their principal election agents present at the principal counting centre. If the number of eligible overseas voters is less than the difference between the top two candidates, the returning officer will declare the candidate with the highest number of votes as the elected President. If the number of overseas voters is equal to or more than the difference between the top two candidates, then the returning officer will announce the votes cast locally for each candidate, and the date and venue at which the ballot papers cast overseas will be counted.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"STI.SI":1.1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1856,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":214379971739872,"gmtCreate":1693378517376,"gmtModify":1693378521905,"author":{"id":"4093058604760480","authorId":"4093058604760480","name":"GggSlimeR","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4b805c8472adab6d9418f36452434a56","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4093058604760480","idStr":"4093058604760480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yes. What we care about is avoiding the permanent loss of capital.' When we think about how risky a company is, we always like to look at its use of debt, since debt overload can lead to ruin. We note that Sea Limited (NYSE:SE) does have debt on its balance sheet. But the more important question is: how much risk is that debt creating?

Why Does Debt Bring Risk?

Generally speaking, debt only becomes a real problem when a company can't easily pay it off, either by raising capital or with its own cash flow. Ultimately, if the company can't fulfill its legal obligations to repay debt, shareholders could walk away with nothing. While that is not too common, we often do see indebted companies permanently diluting shareholders because lenders force them to raise capital at a distressed price. Of course, plenty of companies use debt to fund growth, without any negative consequences. The first step when considering a company's debt levels is to consider its cash and debt together.

View our latest analysis for Sea

What Is Sea's Net Debt?

As you can see below, Sea had US$3.47b of debt at March 2023, down from US$4.18b a year prior. But it also has US$6.59b in cash to offset that, meaning it has US$3.12b net cash.

NYSE:SE Debt to Equity History August 9th 2023

How Healthy Is Sea's Balance Sheet?

According to the last reported balance sheet, Sea had liabilities of US$6.66b due within 12 months, and liabilities of US$4.39b due beyond 12 months. On the other hand, it had cash of US$6.59b and US$2.25b worth of receivables due within a year. So its liabilities outweigh the sum of its cash and (near-term) receivables by US$2.22b.

Since publicly traded Sea shares are worth a very impressive total of US$32.5b, it seems unlikely that this level of liabilities would be a major threat. Having said that, it's clear that we should continue to monitor its balance sheet, lest it change for the worse. While it does have liabilities worth noting, Sea also has more cash than debt, so we're pretty confident it can manage its debt safely. There's no doubt that we learn most about debt from the balance sheet. But it is future earnings, more than anything, that will determine Sea's ability to maintain a healthy balance sheet going forward. So if you're focused on the future you can check out this free report showing analyst profit forecasts.

In the last year Sea wasn't profitable at an EBIT level, but managed to grow its revenue by 14%, to US$13b. We usually like to see faster growth from unprofitable companies, but each to their own.

So How Risky Is Sea?

Statistically speaking companies that lose money are riskier than those that make money. And we do note that Sea had an earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) loss, over the last year. Indeed, in that time it burnt through US$804m of cash and made a loss of US$984m. But the saving grace is the US$3.12b on the balance sheet. That kitty means the company can keep spending for growth for at least two years, at current rates. Why Does Debt Bring Risk?Generally speaking, debt only becomes a real problem when a company can't easily pay it off, either by raising capital or with its own cash flow. The first step when considering a company's debt levels is to consider its cash and debt together.View our latest analysis for SeaWhat Is Sea's Net Debt?As you can see below, Sea had US$3.47b of debt at March 2023, down from US$4.18b a year prior. But it also has US$6.59b in cash to offset that, meaning it has US$3.12b net cash. NYSE:SE Debt to Equity History August 9th 2023How Healthy Is Sea's Balance Sheet?According to the last reported balance sheet, Sea had liabilities of US$6.66b due within 12 months, and liabilities of US$4.39b due beyond 12 months. On the other hand, it had cash of US$6.59b and US$2.25b worth of receivables due within a year. So its liabilities outweigh the sum of its cash and (near-term) receivables by US$2.22b.Since publicly traded Sea shares are worth a very impressive total of US$32.5b, it seems unlikely that this level of liabilities would be a major threat. We usually like to see faster growth from unprofitable companies, but each to their own.So How Risky Is Sea?Statistically speaking companies that lose money are riskier than those that make money. Summing up, we're a little skeptical of this one, as it seems fairly risky in the absence of free cashflow. When we look at a riskier company, we like to check how their profits (or losses) are trending over time. Today, we're providing readers this interactive graph showing how Sea's profit, revenue, and operating cashflow have changed over the last few years.Of course, if you're the type of investor who prefers buying stocks without the burden of debt, then don't hesitate to discover our exclusive list of net cash growth stocks, today.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SE":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1304,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":207372932714640,"gmtCreate":1691657306879,"gmtModify":1691657311135,"author":{"id":"4093058604760480","authorId":"4093058604760480","name":"GggSlimeR","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4b805c8472adab6d9418f36452434a56","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4093058604760480","idStr":"4093058604760480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thanks,Do not like my comment ","listText":"Thanks,Do not like my comment ","text":"Thanks,Do not like my comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/207372932714640","repostId":"1112123008","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1112123008","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1691648888,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1112123008?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-08-10 14:28","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Warren Buffett's Favorite Indicator Signals Stocks Are \"Significantly Overvalued\"","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1112123008","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Warren Buffett's favorite stock market indicator is hinting that equity valuations are stretched after a summer of bull market vibes on Wall Street. The \"Buffett Indicator,\" as it’s known by devoted fo","content":"
\n
Warren Buffett's favorite stock market indicator is hinting that equity valuations are stretched after a summer of bull market vibes on Wall Street. The \"Buffett Indicator,\" as it’s known by devoted ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"yahoofinance_sg","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The indicator takes the Wilshire 5000 Index (viewed as the total stock market) and divides it by the annual US GDP.Picking apart the numbers, the Buffett Indicator stands at about 170.2% — up a sharp 22% from the Sept. 2022 lows, per data from GuruFocus. The indicator has climbed steadily from the first official day of summer on June 21.\"The stock market is significantly overvalued according to the Buffett Indicator,\" researchers at GuruFocus said. \"Based on the historical ratio of total market cap over GDP (currently at 170.2%), it is likely to return 1% a year from this level of valuation, including dividends.\"The Buffett Indicator rose to fame following a 2001 Fortune Magazine article written by Buffett and longtime Fortune writer and Buffett insider Carol Loomis.\"The ratio has certain limitations in telling you what you need to know,\" Buffett explained in the article. \"Still, it is probably the best single measure of where valuations stand at any given moment.\"Despite a turbulent start to August for markets amid a US credit rating downgrade from Fitch and ugly economic data out of China, investors have enjoyed a great 2023.The S&P 500 (^GSPC) has shot up nearly 17% on the year as major companies have posted solid earnings and shrugged off nagging inflation and uneven economic growth rates. Analysts in turn have scrambled to upwardly revise their profit forecasts on companies, supporting higher stock prices.Buffett's own Berkshire Hathaway posted its highest-ever quarterly profit in the second quarter at an astounding $36 billion, and Berkshire stock promptly hit a record high earlier this week.Meanwhile, US consumers continue to hold up well and splurge on everything from Marriott (MAR) hotel stays overseas to domestic travel experiences on Airbnb (ABNB).\"I'm really not surprised by the resilience of the US consumer,\" Marriott CFO Leeny Oberg told Yahoo Finance Live.Outside of the S&P 500, stocks with exposure to the booming generative AI movement have lifted overall market sentiment and the Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC).For example, Nvidia (NVDA) and Meta (META) are up 194% and 156% year to date, respectively. The Nasdaq has surged 31%.But valuations on stocks are starting to come back into focus — as they should, given where indicators such as the Buffett Indicator are situated.Recent work from Truist co-chief investment officer Keith Lerner reveals that valuations have reached some of the \"richest levels seen in past few decades.\"Lerner adopted a Neutral stance on stocks in large part because of elevated valuations.Warren Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, laughs during an interview in Omaha, Nebraska on May 7, 2012. Shares of the tech giant are off by about 8.8% in August, according to Yahoo Finance data, badly underperforming the S&P 500's 1.6% drop. The stock has fallen below its key 50-day moving average as sentiment has soured after the company's tepid earnings report a week ago. Relative to its July 31 record high, Apple is down roughly 9% — or 1 percentage point away from reaching the technical definition of a correction. During this span, Apple has seen a loss of $255 billion in market value. \"The move is just knee-jerk August selling after a parabolic run so far this year,\" longtime Apple bull and Wedbush tech analyst Dan Ives told Yahoo Finance.\"Selling Apple here ahead of the iPhone 15 launch, services ramping to double-digits, and a new tech bull market underway would be like leaving the Super Bowl at halftime,\" Ives added.Year to date, Apple's stock remains up 38% and a relative outperformer compared to the 17% gain for the S&P 500.A little more be at play in the Apple pullback than profit-taking, however. Rumblings on the Street suggest that sluggish economies in the US and China may weigh on Apple's results into 2024.And Apple's latest earnings day only fanned those flames. iPhone, Mac, and iPhone sales fell year over year in the most recent quarter. Sales fell in Apple's Americas, Japan, and Rest of Asia geographic segments. \"The geographic performance continues to highlight the challenges in key developed markets,\" pointed out JPMorgan analyst Samik Chatterjee in a client note. The company's September quarter sales guidance surprised the Street negatively in large part of economic weakness. Apple guided to a modest year-over-year revenue decline — the Street was banking on slight growth in the quarter. \"We continued to face an uneven macroeconomic environment,\" Apple CEO Tim Cook told analysts on the economic vibe from the quarter. Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani thinks investors will \"question\" the growth potential of Apple near-term as a result of Cook's economic musings and formal guidance.Since Apple's earnings, the economic outlook has become even cloudier. The July jobs report last Friday showed slowing employment growth and noteworthy downward revisions to prior months. Meanwhile, China — an important market for Apple — plunged into deflation on Wednesday. This came on the back of another terrible read on the country's trade on Monday.\"Bears won this mini battle the last week, but continue to lose the war being bearish on Cupertino,\" Ives opined.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1392,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":207101896818712,"gmtCreate":1691591115324,"gmtModify":1691591119057,"author":{"id":"4093058604760480","authorId":"4093058604760480","name":"GggSlimeR","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4b805c8472adab6d9418f36452434a56","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4093058604760480","idStr":"4093058604760480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thanks,Do not like my comment ","listText":"Thanks,Do not like my comment ","text":"Thanks,Do not like my comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/207101896818712","repostId":"1191024831","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1191024831","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1691582718,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1191024831?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-08-09 20:05","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Roblox Misses Quarterly Bookings Estimates on Lower Spending","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1191024831","media":"Reuters","summary":"Gaming platform Roblox missed estimates for second-quarter bookings on Wednesday as waning demand for its online games and intensifying competition hurt growth, sending shares down 8% in trading before the bell. The videogame industry is struggling with a slowdown in spending as high inflation forced gamers to pick and choose between popular titles as they tightened their purse strings.Roblox, which operates a metaverse – an emerging virtual space where people play games and make transactions - i","content":"

Gaming platform Roblox missed estimates for second-quarter bookings on Wednesday as waning demand for its online games and intensifying competition hurt growth, sending shares down 8% in trading before the bell.

The videogame industry is struggling with a slowdown in spending as high inflation forced gamers to pick and choose between popular titles as they tightened their purse strings.

Roblox, which operates a metaverse – an emerging virtual space where people play games and make transactions - is available on mobile devices, desktops and Microsoft's Xbox.

It reported 65.5 million daily users in the quarter, with a long-term goal of reaching 1 billion daily users.

The company, popular for games such as "Adopt Me!" and "Brookhaven", posted net bookings of $780.7 million in the quarter, compared with analysts' average estimate of $784.9 million, according to Refinitiv data.

Net loss attributable to shareholders stood at $282.8 million in the quarter, compared with $176.4 million, a year earlier.

Stocks crashed over 8% in premarket trading.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Yet, retail investors continue to look for stocks in which they can execute a short squeeze. Social media sites, notably WallStreetBets, is filled with chatter about stocks that are heavily shorted by professional traders. They are likely to be squeezed, pushing up share price to unsustainable and unjustified levels. Stocks typically take a hit when companies find themselves in unprofitable financial conditions, suffering from declining sales and mounting debt.As Wall Street wagers on the share price declining, retail investors move in quickly. They push the share price up sharply, forcing the professionals to also buy the stock in order to cover potential losses. This effect can lead a stock to skyrocket in price. Of course, the retail investors quickly sell and take profits, leading to an eventual crash in the share price that can hurt people who don’t get out in time. It’s best to avoid this entire dangerous practice. However, meme stocks and short squeezes persist. Here are three meme stocks to sell before they do your portfolio in.GameStop (GME)Source: 1take1shot / Shutterstock.comWe begin with the company most associated with meme stocks, GameStop (NYSE:GME). Today, the video game retailer’s share price is trading 70% below its January 2021 all-time high at the height of the meme stock craze. As well, GameStop’s ambitions to become an e-commerce company (the Amazon of gaming) haven’t materialized. Its sales continue to decline, and GME stock remains extremely volatile. In June, GME stock plunged 20% immediately after the company announced its latest earnings and that CEO Matthew Furlong had been fired. For the fiscal first quarter (ended April 29), GameStop reported revenue of $1.24 billion, down 10% from $1.38 billion a year earlier. GameStop’s sales in the U.S., Canada, and Australia fell by 16.4%, 18.5% and 8.9% respectively from the previous year. The company attributed the drop in sales to currency fluctuations and weak sales of its collectible products.Even news that board chair Ryan Cohen is now taking a more active role with the company hasn’t helped the stock in recent weeks. These reasons make GameStop a meme stock to sell.Tilray Brands (TLRY)Source: Ralf Liebhold / Shutterstock.comCanada’s cannabis sector is in turmoil. The domestic industry can’t compete with the black market. Expectations of the U.S. legalizing the recreational drug on a national level, allowing foreign entrants in the process, hasn’t materialized. As a result, Tilray Brands (NASDAQ:TLRY), the market leader within Canada, is struggling. So is its share price. In the last 12 months, TLRY stock has fallen 48% to trade deep down on the penny stock league tables. Since its market debut in 2018, the stock is down 95%.It’s a far cry from the 2021 meme stock frenzy. At that time, TLRY stock was repeatedly pushed up to nearly $30 a share. Each time, the share price quickly crashed back down to $10 or less, only to be pushed higher again in coordinated short squeezes. Sadly, the retail investors who congregate on WallStreetBets appear to have moved on from Tilray Brands. And sadly, the company’s share price continues to slide lower on deteriorating earnings. The company most recently reported a quarterly net loss of $1.2 billion.SoFi Technologies (SOFI)Source: shutterstock.com/rafapressOnline bank SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ:SOFI) made its market debut in December 2020 during the pandemic. Throughout 2021, SoFi’s share price repeatedly bounced between $14 and $25 as retail investors squeezed the stock on several occasions. But currently, SOFI stock is trading 66% below its 2021 peak. The online lender that specializes in personal loans, credit cards, and mortgages continues to draw skepticism from professional traders and institutional investors who question its business strategy. The company had been hurt by the Biden administration’s moratorium on student loan repayments during the Covid-19 pandemic and its student loan forgiveness plan. The firm claimed it lost $300 million in revenue due to the pause in student loan repayments that began in March 2020. Even still, the stock actually declined on news that the U.S. Supreme Court struck down President Biden’s plan to forgive $400 billion in federal student loan debt, and trading in SOFI stock was eventually halted due to extreme volatility. SOFI is a risky meme stock.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"GME":1.1,"SOFI":1.1,"TLRY":1.1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":753,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9069349353,"gmtCreate":1651241039885,"gmtModify":1676534876501,"author":{"id":"4093058604760480","authorId":"4093058604760480","name":"GggSlimeR","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4b805c8472adab6d9418f36452434a56","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4093058604760480","idStr":"4093058604760480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Amazon.com(AMZN)$Oh no... what to do... Unfortunately, there isn't any surefire way to tell apart those destined to climb higher from those that will underperform. For more than five decades, paying attention to the stocks Warren Buffett and his lieutenants buy for Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRK.A) (NYSE: BRK.B) equity portfolio has been a winning strategy for generating long-term gains. Shares of the holding company have risen at a rate of 19.6% annually since Buffett took the helm in 1965.The recent implosion of Silicon Valley Bank (a subsidiary of SVB Financial) and Signature Bank caused banking stocks to fall across the board in March. Now, shares of Ally Financial and Citigroup are trading at bargain prices that are too good to ignore.Ally FinancialBuffett famously loves banks because he knows people will always need a safe place to put their money. One bank that caught his eye last year was Ally Financial. This is an all-digital bank charging into the future, but it isn't an uncertain start-up. Ally began as the financial arm of General Motors more than a century ago.At recent prices, the stock offers a 4.7% yield, and it could climb much higher. A lean, all-digital operating model allowed Ally Financial to raise its dividend payout by a whopping 131% over the past five years.Despite rapidly cranking up its quarterly payout, Ally needed less than 15% of the free cash flow it generated last year to meet its commitment. That means there's plenty of room for new dividend raises even if earnings dip in response to an economic slowdown. So far, Ally is weathering the storm. Fourth-quarter consumer auto originations fell about 16% year over year to $9.2 billion. Before reading too much into this decline, though, it's important to remember that stimulus checks caused auto sales to spike in 2021.A recession could limit new loan originations, but each loan Ally originates now is earning significantly more. The estimated yield on new auto loans rose 2.6% year over year to 9.57% in the fourth quarter of 2022.Last year, Ally Financial reported a healthy 14.4% return on equity. Despite impressive earnings power, it's trading for the low price of just 0.8 times its tangible book value. Buying the stock at this bargain valuation gives you a great chance to realize market-beating gains over the long run.CitigroupIf you think Ally's trading at a low valuation for a bank stock, just wait until you hear about Citigroup. The stock sold off last month even though it's a \"too big to fail\" bank that's subject to strict capital requirements. Those capital requirements are designed to prevent the sort of bank runs that felled SVB Financial and Signature Bank. Now you can buy shares of this systemically important bank for less than 0.6 times its tangible book value. Citigroup's trading at a low valuation because it's in the middle of a long transition following years of underperformance. In a nutshell, it's selling off its international consumer banking operations to streamline operations and focus on profits. In the fourth quarter of 2022, Citigroup raised its tier 1 capital ratio to 13%, which is more than enough to satisfy regulators. Most systemically important banks distribute capital that exceeds regulatory requirements, but this bank is behaving extra-cautiously.Citigroup is holding off on buybacks and dividend raises while it's in the middle of uncertain asset sales. Investors want to keep a close eye on the potential sale of its consumer bank in Mexico, Banco Nacional de México (Citibanamex), in a deal valued between $6 billion and $8 billion.Completing the complicated Citibanamex sale could unleash a torrent of share buybacks. Adding some shares to your portfolio now looks like a reasonably safe way to generate market-beating returns over the long run.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"C":0.9,"ALLY":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":776,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9002780795,"gmtCreate":1642094387002,"gmtModify":1676533680441,"author":{"id":"4093058604760480","authorId":"4093058604760480","name":"GggSlimeR","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4b805c8472adab6d9418f36452434a56","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4093058604760480","idStr":"4093058604760480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Grab Holdings(GRAB)$What’s going on? If you can consistently find stocks with the potential to double in six years, then you've got a market-beating strategy that can place you well ahead of the pack.To double in six years requires a compound annual growth rate of 12.3%. While outright growth can achieve this, dividends from more mature companies can also play a crucial role in achieving this level of outperformance. So let's take a look at some dividend stocks that could double in six years.1. Taiwan SemiconductorTaiwan Semiconductor emerged as one of the top semiconductor foundries worldwide. Its cutting-edge processes with 3nm (nanometer) and 5nm chips have given it a key technological edge over many other chipmakers, which has helped power the stock to massive growth.Unlike other chip companies, Taiwan Semiconductor doesn't market its chips to consumers. Instead, it produces chips for some of the tech leaders like Apple and Nvidia. However, as the electronics market loses steam, the chip industry may be going through a downward phase in its usual cycle.Still, Wall Street analysts project flat revenue this year and expect it to deliver 21% growth in 2024. While earnings will likely fall this year thanks to a weaker chip market, Taiwan Semiconductor still trades a cheap 15.3 times forward earnings, which uses 2023 projections.Although the business may be in a downturn now, the chips Taiwan Semiconductor currently produces are still a worthwhile upgrade. Additionally, it's likely working on new technology that will become the next evolution in the chip space. With the stock sporting a 2% dividend yield, Taiwan Semiconductor is a strong candidate for a company that can outperform the market and double within six years.2. PrologisReal estate investment trusts (REITs) are tax-advantaged because they are required to pay out 90% of their earnings as dividends. REITs don't have to pay taxes on the dividends they pay because of this classification, so it provides shareholders with a generous dividend payout. Prologis is classified as a REIT and focuses on industrial warehouses. If you've seen a distribution center with concrete walls that sprung up seemingly overnight, that's the type of building Prologis owns. However, with warehouses in 28 cities in the U.S. and only in 19 different countires, Prologis has a lot of room for growth. The company estimates $2.7 trillion in goods flow through its distribution centers annually, accounting for nearly 3% of the world's GDP. With the current trend of commerce, it's likely that more distribution centers will be needed globally to support e-commerce buildout. With 98% of its buildings occupied during the fourth quarter, it's clear that the market opportunity hasn't been saturated either.Prologis also issued strong 2023 guidance, with core funds from operation (FFO, a metric REITs utilize to convey earnings better) expected to grow 9.5%. While that may not sound like market-crushing growth, it also pays a respectable 2.8% dividend yield. The growth and dividend combined yield a powerful combination that should fuel the stock to beat the market. With strong demand for warehouses still present, Prologis has a bright future ahead.3. VisaVisa's dividend isn't as generous as the others -- it only yields 0.75%. However, its growth potential surpasses Taiwan Semiconductor and Prologis.Visa's payment processing network is the largest of its kind and processed over $3 trillion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2023 (ended Dec. 31, 2022). From that $3 trillion, it generated $7.9 billion in revenue in the first quarter, indicating it takes about 0.26% of the volume it processes as fees for utilizing its network. As the world moves to a cashless society, Visa's processed payment volume will continue to grow, giving it the opportunity to expand its reach over the next six years. The stock is also historically cheap when assessed from a price-to-earnings standpoint.V PE Ratio data by YCharts.Additionally, Visa has paid a steadily growing dividend over the past 14 years and only pays out about 20% of its free cash flow, indicating management could substantially expand its dividend over the next decade.Visa is the largest payment processor of its kind, and it's unlikely we will revert to using more cash in the next six years, so Visa will stand to benefit from the shift. With Wall Street analysts projecting 10.4% and 11.1% growth in FY 2023 and 2024, Visa still has plenty of room to grow.Keep or reinvest the dividends? All three of these stocks more than doubled over the past six years, stomping the S&P 500. However, choosing to reinvest the dividends in the company instead of taking them paid off big time.V data by YCharts. On the bottom of the above chart is what happens when you reinvest the dividends; on the top is if you choose to take them in cash. As you can see, reinvesting the dividends made a huge difference in the performance of all three companies. If you don't need the cash flows and you believe the stock will outperform in the long run, then reinvesting dividends is a smart move. If I were to take a position in this trio today, I'd reinvest the dividends, as each company still has a bright future ahead.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSM":0.9,"V":0.9,"PLD":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":557,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9035272608,"gmtCreate":1647618683729,"gmtModify":1676534251725,"author":{"id":"4093058604760480","authorId":"4093058604760480","name":"GggSlimeR","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4b805c8472adab6d9418f36452434a56","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4093058604760480","idStr":"4093058604760480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Do not like my comment ","listText":"Do not like my comment ","text":"Do not like my comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9035272608","repostId":"1165847563","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1165847563","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1647616101,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1165847563?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-18 23:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Berkshire-Backed StoneCo Issued a Bullish Outlook. It closed at 1,695 rupiah on Wednesday, with a market cap of about $4.5 billion. While the stock’s fortune has been closely tied to global coal prices, analysts see more gains thanks to Adaro’s strategy to use its windfall profit to diversify into aluminum and battery making for electric vehicles. The company reported a 482% jump in net profit in the nine months through September as its average selling price more than doubled and coal sales volume jumped 41%. Forecasts from five analysts compiled by Bloomberg suggest another 42% upside in stock prices over the next 12 months.Adaro’s price-to-book ratio at about 9.4 is near its lowest since listing, according to Bloomberg-compiled data, though it’s about six times higher than domestic peers including PT Bukit Asam and PT Indo Tambangraya Megah. The stock opened on Monday at $74.98 and rose to as high as $75 on Tuesday before it began to plummet. It sunk to a new 52-week low of $56.80 in the early afternoon on Thursday. So whatIt's becoming clear that Novavax is falling behind its peers in its ongoing efforts to get an Emergency Use Authorization (EAU) for its COVID-19 vaccine to be used as a booster shot in the U.S.On March 29, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) amended the EUAs for the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines produced by Moderna and the Pfizer-BioNTech partnership to allow second booster shots to be given to individuals 50 and over and to people who are immunocompromised.Novavax's vaccine, NVX-CoV2373, is protein-based, not mRNA-based, and has been approved already in 35 countries, including Australia, Canada, Great Britain, and all of the members of the European Union -- but not in the U.S. The concern among investors is that by the time Novavax does get U.S. approval for its vaccine, the potential market for the shot here will have shrunk considerably.Part of the problem is that Novavax didn't complete its U.S. EAU request until Jan. 31. Given the delays that have stalled its vaccine approval here, it may be too late to catch up.Now whatIt's not all bad news. The company sold plenty of vaccines elsewhere. Last year, thanks mostly to its COVID-19 vaccine, the company reported sales of $1.1 billion, up from $476 million in 2020. However, its sales in the fourth quarter slowed year over year to $222 million compared to $280 million in the prior-year period. For the year, the company had a net loss of $1.7 billion compared to a loss of $418 million in 2020. In Q4, it reported a loss of $846 million, compared to a loss of $178 million in the same period in 2020.Management says it expects the biotech company to finally turn things around this year, guiding for 2022 revenue in the $4 billion to $5 billion range.Based on management's outlook, the stock is trading at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 2.78, so if it hits its targets, investors should look back on today's share prices as a great bargain. The question is, given its late start in the U.S., can the company achieve those results purely from international sales? In the short term, the stock was already bouncing back a little on Friday, but much of that likely reflects the fact that it had dropped to a new 52-week low the day before.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NVAX":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":849,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9013267424,"gmtCreate":1648736383236,"gmtModify":1676534388495,"author":{"id":"4093058604760480","authorId":"4093058604760480","name":"GggSlimeR","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4b805c8472adab6d9418f36452434a56","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4093058604760480","idStr":"4093058604760480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Do not like my comment ","listText":"Do not like my comment ","text":"Do not like my comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9013267424","repostId":"1133782424","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1133782424","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1648732037,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1133782424?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-31 21:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"How Are Tesla Shares on Fire Again","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1133782424","media":"CNN Business","summary":"New York (CNN Business)-Tesla shares have been on a tear in recent weeks as Elon Musk marked the company'sfirst deliveries from its new Berlin factory, easing investors' fears about whether the EV mak","content":"

New York (CNN Business) - Tesla shares have been on a tear in recent weeks as Elon Musk marked the company's first deliveries from its new Berlin factory, easing investors' fears about whether the EV maker would receive the necessary approvals from the German government.

"I'd say 30% of investors we talked to over the last six months thought Berlin was never going to open because of the red tape and bureaucracy," said Dan Ives, tech analyst at Wedbush Securities.
