For example, shares of Shopify (SHOP) have shed 51% year-to-date with 16% of the decline coming in Wednesday’s session, following the Canadian ecommerce giant’s Q4 report. That is despite the company beating the estimates on both the top-and bottom-line. Revenue increased by 41% year-over-year to reach $1.38 billion - $40 million above the consensus estimate, while non-GAAP EPS of $1.37 provided a $0.06 beat. But as has become de rigueur, investors are no longer impressed by quarterly outperformance, they want confirmation the growth is set to continue. And this is a problem for many online companies, which were particularly in favor during the height of Covid’s impact; as consumers shifted spending habits online, some experienced huge growth sprouts which will not be repeated. The picture is even more complex for Shopify. Hand in hand with more normalized growth, the company has said it intends to heavily spend this year on the expansion of its distribution network. While Piper Sandler's Brent Bracelin thinks the plan could work in the long run, it alters the picture closer to the here and now.“The elevated investment appetite was surprising and could pressure profits and cash flows in the short-run,” the 5-star analyst explained. “In the end, this should better position the company to capture a more meaningful portion of the $4T U.S. retail commerce industry with the potential to re-accelerate growth in 2023. However, the gross margin implications and higher execution risks in the near-term could change how growth investors value SHOP with a greater emphasis on EV/GP multiples going forward.”To this end, while Bracelin sticks to an Overweight (i.e., Buy) rating, given “higher execution risks,” the analyst has slashed the price target from $1,400 to $900, suggesting shares could climb ~34% in the year ahead. The Street’s average target, on the other hand, remains elevated. Shares are anticipated to appreciate by 74% over the coming months, given the average price target stands at $1,302 and change. The picture is more mixed on the ratings front; the stock’s Moderate Buy consensus rating is based on 14 Buys and 10 Holds.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":391,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9097027916,"gmtCreate":1645278469881,"gmtModify":1676534015242,"author":{"id":"4096943297976170","authorId":"4096943297976170","name":"Lord88","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4096943297976170","authorIdStr":"4096943297976170"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9097027916","repostId":"1169107504","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1169107504","pubTimestamp":1645251601,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1169107504?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-02-19 14:20","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Want to Get Richer? 3 Top Stocks to Buy Now and Hold Forever","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1169107504","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Alphabet, Adobe, and Texas Instruments can help you sleep better at night.","content":"

Key Points

Alphabet’s inescapable ecosystem makes it one of the tech sector’s top long-term investments.

Adobe’s transformation into a cloud-based software giant will continue locking in customers for the foreseeable future.

Texas Instruments’ track record of stable growth and shareholder-friendly strategies makes it a long-term buy.

The legendary investor Peter Lynch once said that "everyone is a long-term investor until the market goes down." In recent years, it's been pivoting from 200mm to 300mm wafers to reduce the costs of its unpackaged parts by about 40%.That transition, which relied heavily on the secular expansion of the automotive and industrial markets, boosted TI's gross margin from 45% in 2004 to 67% in 2021. It also reduced its share count by 46% during that period, while increasing its dividend annually for 18 consecutive years.TI's stable growth and shareholder-friendly measures helped TI generate a solid total return of nearly 150% over the past five years. The stock still looks cheap at 18 times forward earnings today, it pays a healthy forward dividend yield of 2.8%, and it remains a solid defensive play for long-term investors.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":415,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9094279359,"gmtCreate":1645162639971,"gmtModify":1676534005049,"author":{"id":"4096943297976170","authorId":"4096943297976170","name":"Lord88","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4096943297976170","authorIdStr":"4096943297976170"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9094279359","repostId":"2212642942","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2212642942","pubTimestamp":1645161947,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2212642942?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-02-18 13:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Changes S.Korea Ads after Antitrust Probe Faulted Batteries","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2212642942","media":"StreetInsider","summary":"Tesla Inc changed an advertisement about the driving range for its Model 3 in South Korea after an a","content":"

Tesla Inc changed an advertisement about the driving range for its Model 3 in South Korea after an antitrust regulator found that the automaker exaggerated the specifications of its batteries.

The Model 3 sedan description on Tesla’s Korean-language web site was changed to say the vehicle is capable of travelling a "maximum" of 528 kilometres (328 miles) on a single charge, from "more than" 528 kilometres, screen shots captured by local media showed.

The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) this week said it had sent a report to the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) maker stating that it had exaggerated the mileage of some of its models, including Model 3, in violation of the Act on Fair Labeling and Advertising.

Analysts said most electric vehicles could generally experience some loss of driving range in cold weather.

"The KFTC plans to give the automaker the opportunity to respond to our finding and then hold a general meeting to review and determine the extent to which the automaker has violated the law and decide the level of sanctions," said a commission official, asking not to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter.

On its U.S. website, the Model 3 description said: "Go anywhere with "up to" 358 miles of estimated range on a single charge." However, this does not mean that high-growth companies are not high-quality companies anymore. Many companies have seen no fundamental changes, which should leave long-term investors optimistic about the future.

Shopify is a perfect example. The company has been hammered over the past quarter, falling over 45% off its all-time high and about 33% in 2022 alone. However, not much has changed in terms of its dominance in the e-commerce industry. Shopify is still a leading platform where small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) go to establish and grow their operations, and this is expected to continue into the coming quarters. With the stock down this much over the past few months, I think now could be a good time to pick up some shares.

Why Shopify sank

Shopify has been crushed in line with the broad-reaching tech stock dive that has been taking place since September. Many investors are shifting out of high-growth and risker tech companies in favor of stabler companies due to interest rate and inflation fears. Already this year, the tech-heavy Nasdaq index fell about 20% off its all-time high and is 15% off its high as of this writing.

Shopify has been dragged down even more than that, being hit especially hard by the worries over inflation. Shopify's merchant-solutions revenue comes mainly from its customers on a per-transaction basis, so when its customers grow their gross merchandise volume (GMV), Shopify makes money. In the third quarter, over 70% of its revenue came from merchant solutions, but with inflation, some investors are worried about the growth of this big revenue segment.

As the prices of goods head higher, many consumers will slow their spending on e-commerce, especially when those goods are not necessities. This will hurt Shopify's merchants and, thus, Shopify itself.

A financial powerhouse

The company reported Q3 results in November, and the financial picture did not seem to be hurt by these inflationary pressures. The company reported total revenue growth of 47% year over year to $1.1 billion, and its merchant solutions -- which investors worry are going to be hurt by inflation -- grew 51% year over year.

Shares have been crushed because of low investor sentiment, but analysts are predicting continued expansion. Wall Steet expects $1.34 billion in Q4 revenue, which is growth of 20% sequentially and 37% year over year. While this is lower than Q3, it still represents a strong improvement. Management cited that holiday sales were larger than normal, but still underwhelming industrywide, showing that the slowing growth was not just a Shopify problem.

At a $110 billion market cap, it is impressive that Shopify is still seeing significant growth in its top line, and its cash flows make the financials even stronger. The company brought in $219 million in free cash flow in the first nine months of 2021, and this grew over 52% compared to the year-ago period. The company has also made investments into other companies that gave its profitability a boost. Shopify earned more than $3.3 billion from other investments in the first nine months of 2021 -- namely its investment in Global-E Online -- which is more than the revenue it brought in during the same period.

The growth that remains

There are plenty of tailwinds that could continue to push Shopify in the right direction over the next decade. Shopify estimates that its total addressable market is currently worth $153 billion -- which means Shopify has captured just 3% of its total revenue opportunity. DigitalOcean -- an SMB-focused cloud provider -- estimated that the number of SMBs will grow by 14 million every year from today's current count of 100 million SMBs globally. Considering that Shopify sells primarily to SMBs, it could see major success if the industry expands as much as DigitalOcean projects.

The company is also focused on expanding its offering to make it even more appealing to its customers. Shopify has been investing in a fulfillment network to help merchants pick, pack, and ship their products across the country. This fulfillment network would not only make Shopify's product ecosystem harder to leave, but it would also allow Shopify to lower its costs to better compete against behemoths Amazon.

Is Shopify a buy now?

The company trades at 27 times sales -- a steep multiple for an e-commerce business. For comparison, e-commerce giants like Sea Limited and MercadoLibre both trade below 10 times sales. However, Shopify has the best of a few worlds: It is already dominant in the SMB space and has plenty of runways to growth via product expansion and a burgeoning addressable market of customers. While Shopify might not be the next 100-bagger over a decade, it still have room to grow tenfold from here, which is why I think Shopify is a screaming buy at its current price.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Down 45% From Its High, Is Shopify a Buy Now?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nDown 45% From Its High, Is Shopify a Buy Now?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-02-11 19:56 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Many investors have watched their portfolios get crushed recently, with only the past few days showing slivers of green. The Dow also ended in positive territory.

After consulting counterparts from the Group of Seven nations, Biden announced measures to impede Russia's ability to do business in the world's major currencies, along with sanctions against banks and state-owned enterprises.

The White House has warned Americans that the conflict could lead to higher fuel prices in the United States, but U.S. officials have been working with counterparts in other countries on a combined release of additional oil from global strategic crude reserves.

All three major indexes sold off early in the day on news of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with the Nasdaq down more than 3% at the open. They hit session highs in the wake of Biden's comments and rallied heading into the close.

"The tough stand the U.S. and Europe is taking is sending a loud message to the financial markets that they're going to try to cripple as much as they can the Russian economy," said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Spartan Capital Securities in New York.

"From one perspective that's positive," he said, adding that the selling in the market may not be over. "Going forward, we're still subject to probably higher oil prices, probably higher commodity prices."

Investors have been worried about how increasing inflation will affect the outlook for the Federal Reserve and higher interest rates.

Ukrainian forces battled Russian invaders on three sides on Thursday after Moscow mounted an assault by land, sea and air in the biggest attack on a European state since World War Two.

The information technology sector rose 3.5% and gave the S&P 500 its biggest boost, in a reversal from recent action.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 92.07 points, or 0.28%, to 33,223.83, the S&P 500 gained 63.2 points, or 1.50%, to 4,288.7 and the Nasdaq Composite added 436.10 points, or 3.34%, to 13,473.59.

Early in the session, the Nasdaq was down more than 20% from its November closing record high. They hit session highs in the wake of Biden's comments and rallied heading into the close.\"The tough stand the U.S. and Europe is taking is sending a loud message to the financial markets that they're going to try to cripple as much as they can the Russian economy,\" said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Spartan Capital Securities in New York.\"From one perspective that's positive,\" he said, adding that the selling in the market may not be over. \"Going forward, we're still subject to probably higher oil prices, probably higher commodity prices.\"Investors have been worried about how increasing inflation will affect the outlook for the Federal Reserve and higher interest rates.Ukrainian forces battled Russian invaders on three sides on Thursday after Moscow mounted an assault by land, sea and air in the biggest attack on a European state since World War Two.The information technology sector rose 3.5% and gave the S&P 500 its biggest boost, in a reversal from recent action. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 92.07 points, or 0.28%, to 33,223.83, the S&P 500 gained 63.2 points, or 1.50%, to 4,288.7 and the Nasdaq Composite added 436.10 points, or 3.34%, to 13,473.59.Early in the session, the Nasdaq was down more than 20% from its November closing record high. If it had closed at that level, it would have confirmed it was in a bear market.\"Tech had the most technical damage, so it's good to see tech pick up the pieces,\" said Jamie Cox, managing partner of Harris Financial Group in Richmond, Virginia. The S&P 500 earlier this week confirmed that it was in a correction. For instance, a $1,000 investment made in the stock when Buffett stepped in as CEO in 1965 would now be worth $18 million.

Though Buffett's investing objectives may not perfectly align with yours, it's still worth tracking his portfolio because of his record for picking long-term winners. Here are five stocks from the Oracle of Omaha's portfolio that you should consider buying and holding forever.

1. AbbVie

The first stock in Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio to buy is the pharma stock AbbVie (NYSE:ABBV), with Berkshire's stake in AbbVie currently valued at $2 billion. AbbVie's dividend yield of 4% is triple the S&P 500's 1.3%.

And based on AbbVie's dividend payout ratio of 40.9% last year, the company has plenty of room to continue upping its dividend. That explains why the most recent dividend increase was a robust 8.5%.

Even with its top-selling drug in the world called Humira set to face biosimilar competition in the U.S. starting next year, AbbVie should be fine. That's because AbbVie has several dozen indications in its pipeline at various stages of development. Recent approvals like Rinvoq's eczema indication in the U.S. should help AbbVie to quickly bounce back from Humira's U.S. patent expiration while earlier-stage drugs in development should secure the company's long-term future.

This helps to explain why analysts expect AbbVie will produce a 5% annual earnings growth over the next five years. And at a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 11.8, the stock is a solid value pick. This is despite the fact that the general drug manufacturer industry average forward P/E ratio is 10.6. AbbVie's track record justifies a slightly higher valuation multiple compared to its industry.

2. Bristol Myers Squibb

The next Buffett stock to think about purchasing is pharma stock Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY). Berkshire Hathaway's position in Bristol Myers Squibb is worth $1.4 billion.

Bristol Myers Squibb's dividend yield is an enticing 3.2%. Given the company's 26.1% dividend payout ratio last year, there is tons of flexibility to keep growing the dividend. That's probably why the company recently hiked its quarterly dividend 10.2% to $0.54 per share.

Despite each of its top three selling drugs set to have patents expire sometime this decade (Revlimid, Opdivo, and Eliquis), Bristol Myers Squibb is well prepared. This is evidenced by the 50+ compounds that it currently has under development.

At a forward P/E ratio of 8.1, the risks of Bristol Myers Squibb's upcoming patent expirations look to be more than priced in at this time. That's because this is well below the general drug manufacturer industry average of 10.6. This creates an attractive buying opportunity for income and value investors.

3. Visa

The third stock in Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio to consider buying is the payments processing stock Visa (NYSE:V), with Berkshire's stake in Visa valued at $2.2 billion. Visa's 0.7% dividend yield is approximately half of the S&P 500's yield. But with a payout ratio of 21.7% in its previous fiscal year, there appear to be many years of dividend growth in Visa's future. The most recent 17.5% dividend increase supports this argument.

Visa looks positioned to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic stronger than ever. According to research released last year, 59% of North Americans and Europeans tried a new payment method in the last 12 months. Visa has the size and scale to expand into the payment methods of the future, which is why analysts anticipate the company will deliver 18% annual earnings growth in the next five years.

At the current $228 share price, Visa is priced at a forward P/E ratio of 26.5. While this is well above the credit services industry average of 15.6, this premium is deserved because Visa doesn't carry the credit risk of its peers. This is an appealing price to pay for the stock's growth prospects over the long haul.

4. Mastercard

Another Buffett stock to contemplate purchasing is the payments processing stock Mastercard (NYSE:MA). Berkshire Hathaway's position in the stock is worth $1.6 billion. Mastercard's 0.5% dividend yield isn't going to turn any heads, but it's still about as much as a high-yield savings account offers. Given that Mastercard's dividend payout ratio was 21% last year, the stock's dividend should grow like a weed. Mastercard's recent 11.4% payout increase is proof of this argument.

And just like Visa, Mastercard should benefit from recent interest in new payment methods. That spells out why analysts are forecasting 25% annual earnings growth through the next five years. The superior growth to Visa arguably justifies the higher forward P/E ratio of 29. And like Visa, Mastercard doesn't extend credit to customers, which translates into a lower-risk business model and makes it a great buy for growth investors.

5. Verizon

The fifth stock in Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio to ponder buying is the telecom stock Verizon (NYSE:VZ), with Berkshire's stake in Verizon valued at $8.4 billion. Verizon yields a massive 4.8% at the current share price. And investors can count on the payout to continue growing because the company's payout ratio last year was 46.8%.

This low payout ratio leaves Verizon with the capital necessary to roll out 5G in the markets that don't yet have the next generation of wireless communications. As a result, analysts are expecting Verizon will produce a 4% earnings growth each year over the next five years. Since Verizon is trading at a current P/E ratio of less than 10, the stock looks to be an appealing value and income play. Income investors looking for a slow and steady grower would do well to consider buying Verizon.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Got $1,000? 5 Buffett Stocks to Buy and Hold Forever
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nGot $1,000? 5 Buffett Stocks to Buy and Hold Forever\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-02-15 08:00 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Warren Buffett's investing savvy through his holding company Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B) has made more millionaires than almost every other company in history. For instance, a $1,000 investment made in the stock when Buffett stepped in as CEO in 1965 would now be worth $18 million.Though Buffett's investing objectives may not perfectly align with yours, it's still worth tracking his portfolio because of his record for picking long-term winners. Here are five stocks from the Oracle of Omaha's portfolio that you should consider buying and holding forever.1. AbbVieThe first stock in Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio to buy is the pharma stock AbbVie (NYSE:ABBV), with Berkshire's stake in AbbVie currently valued at $2 billion. AbbVie's dividend yield of 4% is triple the S&P 500's 1.3%.And based on AbbVie's dividend payout ratio of 40.9% last year, the company has plenty of room to continue upping its dividend. That explains why the most recent dividend increase was a robust 8.5%.Even with its top-selling drug in the world called Humira set to face biosimilar competition in the U.S. starting next year, AbbVie should be fine. AbbVie's track record justifies a slightly higher valuation multiple compared to its industry.2.
