Here are three reasons why AMC stock is a buy.

AMC Entertainment had an eventful March. The movie theater company's stock closed the month with gains over 30%, thanks to news the company had acquired a major stake in a gold mine, along with positive trends in the broader market.

So far in April, AMC has cooled down. Looking only at its valuation, Wall Street has been skeptical about the future of the stock.

But we often go against the Wall Street grain. So let's take a glass-half-full look at AMC.

Figure 1: 3 Reasons to Buy AMC Stock

1. AMC's Financials Are In Great Shape

In March, AMC's management announced that the company had enjoyed the best quarter of the last two years. And although the nearly 60 million moviegoers who bought tickets represented only 64% of pre-pandemic levels, the fourth quarter indicated it's only a matter of time before ticket sales are back to normal.

On a year-over-year basis, revenue increased by 620% in Q4. Drink and food revenue reached 87% of pre-pandemic levels, to an average of $6.38 per patron. That's quite a bit better than the $4.74 per person AMC made in the fourth quarter of 2019.

But perhaps the best news was that AMC achieved positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), as well as positive operating cash flow. Thanks to the effect of the COVID pandemic on the movie theater business, AMC's balance sheet had been a big concern.

Of course, AMC has a lot to thank its loyal shareholders for. Because of their stock purchases, management was able to raise a little over half a billion dollars in cash to shake off the specter of bankruptcy.

And now with about $1.8 billion in liquidity and cash flowing in, AMC no longer has to worry about playing defense. Instead, it can think about growth.

2. AMC's Management Has a Long-Term Growth Plan

CEO Adam Aron has a plan to generate long-term value for AMC and its shareholders. His goal is to match AMC's high valuation with its company fundamentals.

The money raised from AMC's share price appreciation has been and will be used for three main initiatives:

Investing in the infrastructure of its core business, the movie theaters

Paying down company debt

Investing in mergers and acquisitions with a view to the company's future growth

AMC has already announced investments in its movie theaters, such as upgrading its IMAX and Dolby Cinema premium screens. The company is also starting up NFT programs and accepting payments via cryptocurrencies — moves that should attract a young, tech-savvy audience.

As for the second goal, AMC is in the process of discussing refinancing its $5 billion debt with various stakeholders to reduce future interest payments.

And finally, thinking about future investments, AMC has bold plans to retail its branded popcorn. It also invested in gold and silver mining company Hycroft (HYMC), which CEO Adam Aron sees as a long-term source of profit.

3. AMC Has "Meme Stock" Power

The so-called "smart money" has criticized the meme frenzy that kicked off in early 2021. But more than a year later, this trend still continues and has wreaked havoc on hedge funds that bet against AMC stock.

Meme stock investing is characterized by retail investors betting on stocks not due to their business fundamentals, but instead to defeat short sellers. AMC has been one of the meme darlings and has remained popular on Reddit's meme stock-trading threads.

Thanks to meme investors, AMC stock has returned an incredible 1,060% since the beginning of last year. Their unwavering buy-and-hold optimism and demand for the stock have essentially rendered AMC's business fundamentals irrelevant.

Currently, short interest in AMC is rising — more than 20% of the stock's float, according to the latest data from Yahoo Finance. So there's a good chance that meme investors could provoke a new short squeeze and send AMC's stock back to stratospheric levels.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
AMC Stock: 3 Reasons to Buy
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nAMC Stock: 3 Reasons to Buy\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-04-13 11:40 GMT+8 TheStreet\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
AMC Entertainment keeps surprising its critics. However, the sentiment seems to be changing as gas prices continue to rise. Naturally, Tesla sales have already started to soar, and I believe it is just the start.

With Russia, the country that produces the most crude oil (the primary ingredient for gasoline) at war, gas prices can be expected to stay elevated for a lot longer than what was previously forecasted. Moreover, it is almost certain that many countries will be reducing their energy dependence on Russia. If that happens, gas prices will naturally go up as other suppliers have to cope with a sudden rise in demand.

Of course, Tesla cars are costly. However, gas costs also add up over time. However, the sentiment seems to be changing as gas prices continue to rise. The company is increasingly moving into a competition space with other tech giants. My investment thesis remains Bullish on the stock at these levels, as the Mandiant purchase is pocket change for Alphabet.

Relatively Small Deal

While Alphabet agreed to pay $23 per share in cash for Mandiant amounting to a $5.4 billion cash deal, the tech giant has a cash balance of $140 billion at the end of 2021. The cybersecurity specialist pushes Alphabet into a growth sector, especially prudent as Russia invades Ukraine and cybersecurity remains one of the great corporate risks in the decades ahead.

Mandiant is only forecast to produce 2022 revenues of $564 million for 16% growth, so the amount is a drop in the bucket to the $303 billion revenue base of Alphabet. The deal really isn't material from a financial point of view, but the deal does question the market's desire to rely on Alphabet for security considering privacy concerns and whether getting into a battle with the likes of Microsoft (MSFT) is healthy for either company.

Mandiant had just spun off FireEye due to the lack of focus on the business and one has to question whether stuck as part of a massive tech conglomerate makes the business work better. As part of Google Cloud, Mandiant will have a captive customer base, but most potential customers likely use AWS from Amazon (AMZN) or Azure from Microsoft.

Mandiant is an industry-leading threat intelligence firm with an army of consultants focused on resolving security breaches via managed services. The firm always made more sense as an independent business with no tie-in into a specific cloud platform or cybersecurity products similar to the issue with FireEye.

As well, the deal seems to bring Google into more direct competition with Microsoft and Amazon as all parties pursue cybersecurity solutions for the cloud services to provide end-to-end security operations. One of my major negative investment thesis regarding the tech giants is this increasing clash with business units leading to spending or price wars. The majority of the revenues for Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon are focused on primary businesses outside of the Cloud units, but the companies are increasingly investing in this area of fast growth.

According to the latest Cloud data, Google remains a distant third in the category, but the company continues to gain market share on Amazon. Microsoft apparently gets up to $15 billion annually on security revenues suggesting maybe Google has been under-investing in this category.

Synergy Research Group

The biggest concern here is a competitive spending race between the tech giants that have mostly worked independently in the past. Apple (AAPL) planning to enter the autonomous vehicle space will compete directly with Waymo and the Cloud space is likely to become a lot more competitive in the future.

Competition Heats Up

A big focus of the next decade regarding the tech giants will be the margins as aggressive spending boosted profits in the past decade, but the increasing competition with other tech giants is problematic. Alphabet could outspend smaller tech firms in the past and effectively eliminate competition, but this won't be the case with Apple, Microsoft and Amazon.

For Q4'21, Alphabet saw operating margins return to the 31% range after dips into the mid-20% range due to Covid and heavy spending. Those expenses were reduced by $446 million in the quarter and $2.6 billion for the year leading to a nearly $3 EPS boost.

As my previous research has supported, Alphabet is an exceptionally cheap stock due to stock-based compensation hiding the actual earnings of the company with the utilization of GAAP earnings. The stock only trades at 19x forward GAAP EPS targets leaving the stock at a big discount to recent prices.

Data by YCharts

The amazing part is that this number doesn't factor in the ~$155 billion in net cash and securities plus the over $15 billion in SBC. The current 2023 EPS target of $137 per share quickly becomes closer to $157 per share when considering ~$20 of SBC on 673 million shares.

Takeaway

The key investor takeaway is that the purchase of Mandiant doesn't exactly appear logical as part of a bigger Cloud business. Regardless, the size and scope of Mandiant are virtually immaterial to the giant businesses of Alphabet.

The stock is far too cheap here, but investors will need to watch out for an increasingly competitive environment with the other tech giants. S&P 500 futures climbed 2.1% and Nasdaq 100 futures gained 2.6%.

The bounce came after the market fell for a fourth day on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 and Dow falling deeper into correction territory and the Nasdaq Composite adding to its bear market losses.

The gains came amid an easing in commodity prices that have spooked the broader market. Energy and agriculture products in particular have catapulted higher amid the fighting in Ukraine, while some metals also have posted major gains.

West Texas Intermediate crude, the U.S. oil benchmark, was last down 4% to around $118, while Brent crude, the international standard, fell 3.5% to around $123.

Wheat futures also were sharply lower, falling 6.3% to $1,206 a bushel, though palladium continued its march higher, rising 3.8% to $3,082 per ounce. Silver, copper and platinum were all lower on Wednesday.

“The equity market continues to take its cues from changes in commodity prices, namely oil,” said Kathy Bostjancic, chief U.S. economist at Oxford Economics. “Trading will continue to be volatile and rally when prices retreat, but overall the prospect of oil and non-energy prices remaining very high casts a cloud overall the outlook for economic activity and the equity market.”

Certain consumer-related stocks roared back on Wednesday in premarket trading, after weakness on fears that higher gas prices would dent consumer spending. Nike rose 4% before the bell and Starbucks added 2.6%. Airlines and cruise lines were also higher in extended trading.

Treasury prices fell and yields climbed as investors rotated out of bonds after huddling in fixed income for protection amid the Ukraine war. The benchmark 10-year note rose about 3.7 basis points to 1.91%. A basis point equals 0.01%.

Bank stocks rose in premarket trading as yields rose. PNC Financial was up 5% and Wells Fargo rose more than 3%. Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan were 2% higher each.

Pepsico shares rose 1.8% in premarket trading after the soft drink giant said it will suspend sales in Russia, though it will continue to sell snacks and essentials such as baby formula. Elsewhere, shares of dating service Bumble soared nearly 23% after it reported profit and expected growth that was much better than Wall Street expectations.

The major averages all closed lower Tuesday after a day of whipsaw trading. Yes, But Carefully.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1109570743","media":"investorplace","summary":"Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), with a revenue of $53.8 billion and a market capitalization of $900 billion, ha","content":"

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), with a revenue of $53.8 billion and a market capitalization of $900 billion, has often been seen as an overvalued stock by analysts.

Gas prices can be even more of a headache for those living in the rural U.S., where cars are almost a necessity.

Without a decline in gas prices, consumers might find Tesla cars more economical in the long term.

TSLA Stock Is Still a Buy in the Long Term

TSLA is still overvalued, at least from a conventional viewpoint. However, there is more to a stock than just its earnings and market cap. TSLA has been fundamentally overvalued for almost a decade, but it has still gone up.

For example, someone following this 2013 article would’ve missed out on the 2,100%-plus worth of gains TSLA has since had.

In a nutshell, traditional metrics don’t seem to work for TSLA. Furthermore, Tesla has continued to have exceptional revenue growth, and it is slowly bridging the gap between its market cap and revenue.

It is still worthwhile to remember that the market is very unpredictable. If the current world situation leads to a recession, there’s no doubt that TSLA would nosedive along with the rest of the market. A recession can also drag down gasoline prices, like it did in 2008 and 2020.

However, I still believe that even in the case of a recession, TSLA can recover in the long term. Tesla has been rapidly expanding, and in a world where countries are shifting more towards renewable energy, it would not be far-fetched to see TSLA valued more.

Can TSLA Compete in the Long Term?

Tesla took electric vehicles seriously early on, which gave it an edge over its competitors. Even now, Tesla still does not face any significant competition from its main competitors, and the company has essentially dominated the EV industry. Moreover, Tesla has the most advanced self-driving features of any car and one of the lowest maintenance costs. They’re essentially doing to EVs what Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) did with phones, offering user-friendliness at a premium.

Tesla’s competitors will undoubtedly catch up in the long run. However, Tesla will still command a significant portion of EV sales due to its popularity alone.

TSLA’s growth prospects also seem to be very promising. In 2021, Tesla produced over 930,000 cars. Moreover, it aims to reach 20 million EV sales per year by 2030 , and at Tesla’s current growth rate, it is definitely possible.

One should also note that Tesla is not just an EV company. It produces many energy products that add to its revenue, such as solar roofs and storage or charging solutions. They will also undoubtedly profit from the world’s transition to renewable energy. In short, I believe that TSLA is here to stay for the long term.

TSLA stock is still a risky buy in the short term due to the market’s uncertainty. However, I still believe that in the case of a market crash, Tesla will still inevitably recover. If a recession does not occur in the near future, the stock will likely reverse trends due to rising gas prices and soaring sales.

I do believe that in the long term, it can return a lot of profit. For the short term, making big moves in the current uncertain market is still very risky and should be avoided. Thus, I believe that anyone that seeks into invest in TSLA stock should not invest large amounts of capital. At least until the market shows more stability.

","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Is Tesla a Good Stock to Buy in 2022? If that happens, gas prices will naturally go up as other suppliers have to cope with a sudden rise in demand.Of course, Tesla cars are costly. However, gas costs also add up over time. Gas prices can be even more of a headache for those living in the rural U.S., where cars are almost a necessity.Without a decline in gas prices, consumers might find Tesla cars more economical in the long term.TSLA Stock Is Still a Buy in the Long TermTSLA is still overvalued, at least from a conventional viewpoint. However, there is more to a stock than just its earnings and market cap. TSLA has been fundamentally overvalued for almost a decade, but it has still gone up.For example, someone following this 2013 article would’ve missed out on the 2,100%-plus worth of gains TSLA has since had.In a nutshell, traditional metrics don’t seem to work for TSLA. A recession can also drag down gasoline prices, like it did in 2008 and 2020.However, I still believe that even in the case of a recession, TSLA can recover in the long term. Tesla has been rapidly expanding, and in a world where countries are shifting more towards renewable energy, it would not be far-fetched to see TSLA valued more. Can TSLA Compete in the Long Term?Tesla took electric vehicles seriously early on, which gave it an edge over its competitors. Even now, Tesla still does not face any significant competition from its main competitors, and the company has essentially dominated the EV industry. Moreover, Tesla has the most advanced self-driving features of any car and one of the lowest maintenance costs. They’re essentially doing to EVs what Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) did with phones, offering user-friendliness at a premium.Tesla’s competitors will undoubtedly catch up in the long run. However, Tesla will still command a significant portion of EV sales due to its popularity alone.TSLA’s growth prospects also seem to be very promising. In short, I believe that TSLA is here to stay for the long term.TSLA stock is still a risky buy in the short term due to the market’s uncertainty. However, I still believe that in the case of a market crash, Tesla will still inevitably recover. If a recession does not occur in the near future, the stock will likely reverse trends due to rising gas prices and soaring sales.I do believe that in the long term, it can return a lot of profit. For the short term, making big moves in the current uncertain market is still very risky and should be avoided. Thus, I believe that anyone that seeks into invest in TSLA stock should not invest large amounts of capital. At least until the market shows more stability.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":207,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9038722441,"gmtCreate":1646922597396,"gmtModify":1676534177374,"author":{"id":"4100056531967130","authorId":"4100056531967130","name":"xiaohongdian","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1544d9211a3b0df80108b0fd98212197","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100056531967130","authorIdStr":"4100056531967130"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yes buy!","listText":"Yes buy!","text":"Yes buy!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9038722441","repostId":"2218623840","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":321,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9080054778,"gmtCreate":1649822316247,"gmtModify":1676534584531,"author":{"id":"4100056531967130","authorId":"4100056531967130","name":"xiaohongdian","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1544d9211a3b0df80108b0fd98212197","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100056531967130","authorIdStr":"4100056531967130"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9080054778","repostId":"1120265619","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":439,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9035870406,"gmtCreate":1647569802337,"gmtModify":1676534245951,"author":{"id":"4100056531967130","authorId":"4100056531967130","name":"xiaohongdian","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1544d9211a3b0df80108b0fd98212197","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100056531967130","authorIdStr":"4100056531967130"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Okay nice.
