Much like consumers who opened their wallets en masse after being locked in their homes for months due to the pandemic, the benchmark index turned on the afterburners in 2021 and outperformed both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq by its widest margin in over two decades.

The S&P 500 surged 27%, marking only the sixth time it has beaten the other major indexes. That was also more than double its average return and its fifth-best performance in almost 50 years.

If you ignore the sudden plunge the stock market experienced at the onset of the pandemic, it has been on an incredible tear since the end of the Great Recession in 2009. The broad market index has quadrupled in value over that time period, turning an investment of $10,000 into almost $43,000 today.

That could suggest it's only a matter of time before the market crashes again, meaning if you've got only a little money to spare to invest in the stock market, you want it to go a long way and not get wiped out in any downdraft. So if you've got $100 or less available -- and you don't need it for emergencies or to pay bills -- the following three stocks are a great place to start.

JD.com

I'm the first to admit investing in Chinese stocks these days seems risky. But JD.com (NASDAQ:JD) is certainly a fast-growing, profitable e-commerce giant.

Since going public in 2014, JD.com has returned nearly 250% while the S&P 500 has ridden 150% higher in the same time frame. But there's a good reason for the dichotomy. China is a massive market opportunity with 1.4 billion people who -- like much of the rest of the world -- have increasingly embraced online shopping. The company's third-quarter revenue hit $33.9 billion, up 25% over the year-ago period.

Unlike Amazon.com or rival Alibaba, JD.com is more of a marketplace for third-party sellers like eBay than a seller of goods itself. Its broad selection of items is attracting ever greater numbers of customers to the site; active customers hit 552.2 million last year. That's some 25% more than in 2020.

At $76 a share, JD.com trades for just under six times next year's earnings estimate. Analysts, though, are forecasting that the e-commerce giant will grow earnings 24% annually for the next five years. So it could be a good deal for someone with just $100 to invest.

Lovesac

Sit back and relax with modular furniture maker Lovesac (NASDAQ:LOVE), something of a contrarian stock pick for an investor with only a little money to put to work.

The "sactional" maker is hard at work changing how people shop for furniture as the pandemic forced consumers to switch from being hands on and having a natural revulsion to paying shipping costs to willingly buying online. Because Lovesac already had a robust e-commerce presence prior to the pandemic, along with a physical retail footprint, it was easily able to make the transition while others struggled.

And business is booming. Third-quarter sales jumped 56% to almost $117 million compared to a year ago while the company's gross margin is an impressive 50%. Wall Street sees Lovesac turning into a billion-dollar business by the middle of the decade.

Analysts are maintaining a $106 consensus price target for the shares over the next year. That's an 84% upside over the current $58 per share price. So modular furniture could be the perfect stock for investing couch potatoes with only a few dollars available.

Plug Power

Investors have been waiting a long time for hydrogen fuel-cell technology to reach critical mass, particularly as Plug Power (NASDAQ:PLUG) has long promised it's just around the next corner. While that corner never seems to materialize, we may finally be on the brink of it occurring.

Recently KeyBanc Capital Markets released its forecast for the industry and -- gadzooks! -- it expects the technology to rocket from $1.1 billion last year to $300 billion by 2030. That's an 86% compound annual growth rate.

Analyst Leo Mariani told investors in a research note that fuel-cell companies will see their business get a turbo-boost from a "rapidly growing market for their services as fuel-cell adoption is poised to accelerate this decade." He initiated coverage of Plug Power with an overweight rating, putting a price target of $40 per share on the fuel-cell pioneer (that's 60% upside from its $25 per share level today).

Plug Power shipped 4,559 GenDrive material fuel-cell products in the third quarter along with 16 hydrogen infrastructure systems, some 23% more for each compared to last year. Still, it continues to post losses, and the global supply-chain issues that are impacting all industries, as well as inflation, continue to pressure Plug's margins.

Plug Power, though, sees a future for hydrogen fuel cells that goes well beyond its primary forklift market. And if Wall Street is even only partly correct about its growth potential, Plug could have a bright future ahead of it that would potentially turn $100 into far more.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Growth Stocks You Can Buy Right Now With Less Than $100
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Growth Stocks You Can Buy Right Now With Less Than $100\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-20 08:20 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Last year was a good one for the S&P 500. And if Wall Street is even only partly correct about its growth potential, Plug could have a bright future ahead of it that would potentially turn $100 into far more.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":409,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9004651997,"gmtCreate":1642594010338,"gmtModify":1676533725622,"author":{"id":"4103344219810520","authorId":"4103344219810520","name":"choi1980","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4103344219810520","idStr":"4103344219810520"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Kk","listText":"Kk","text":"Kk","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9004651997","repostId":"1122635846","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":456,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9002429015,"gmtCreate":1642075470459,"gmtModify":1676533678238,"author":{"id":"4103344219810520","authorId":"4103344219810520","name":"choi1980","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4103344219810520","idStr":"4103344219810520"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok thanks","listText":"Ok thanks","text":"Ok thanks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9002429015","repostId":"1155145193","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":436,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9002420435,"gmtCreate":1642075420297,"gmtModify":1676533678185,"author":{"id":"4103344219810520","authorId":"4103344219810520","name":"choi1980","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4103344219810520","idStr":"4103344219810520"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Quite interesting news","listText":"Quite interesting news","text":"Quite interesting news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9002420435","repostId":"2203576952","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2203576952","pubTimestamp":1642072500,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2203576952?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-13 19:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Microsoft invests $50 million in alcohol-to-jet fuel biorefinery","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2203576952","media":"StreetInsider","summary":"(Reuters) - Microsoft is investing $50 million in a LanzaJet facility in Georgia that will produ","content":"

(Reuters) - Microsoft is investing $50 million in a LanzaJet facility in Georgia that will produce jet fuel from ethanol next year, LanzaJet said.

The airline industry is considered one of the hardest to decarbonize. Over the past two years, 90% of the world's data has been produced, and by 2025, the annual amount of data created, captured, copied, and consumed worldwide is expected to more than double from today, according to Statista. With this much data creation in the world, many businesses have been built to help store, monitor, and analyze the massive influx.

As an investor, I look for industries that are expected to grow rapidly over the next decade or more. Companies built on managing data seem to fit that definition. Three companies in particular that work with data could give investors incredible returns over the long term. Here's why Snowflake (NYSE:SNOW), Confluent (NASDAQ:CFLT), and Datadog (NASDAQ:DDOG) are all growing tech stocks worth buying and holding for the next two decades.

1. Snowflake

Businesses receive data from almost every part of their business. With an increasing cloud-based presence, the amount of data being produced from software and other sources will keep increasing, and companies will want to look at and analyze this data at some point. However, not all data being produced today will be valuable to companies when initially created. Companies will want to store this data for later use, and Snowflake helps them to do this.

Snowflake is a data warehouse that allows businesses to store their data so they can analyze it in the future. The company makes it free to store data and only charges companies when they want to query and look at it. Snowflake customers find it easy to join, but hard to leave.

Revenue in the third quarter of fiscal 2022 (ending Oct. 31. 2021) hit $334 million, growing 110% year over year. With businesses receiving more data every day, it will result in more analysis, more queries, and more revenue in the future. The company already receives roughly 1.3 million queries each day, but with more data to analyze in the future, companies will likely end up paying more often. This can already be seen in Snowflake's net retention rate, which is 173%.

At 86 times sales, this company is by no means cheap. The stock price could drop 50% to 43 times sales and still be considered expensive, so potential investors should expect some volatility over the next few years. However, its business model allows for incredible usage-based growth over the next few decades, and as businesses obtain more data and seek to analyze it more, Snowflake could reap incredible benefits. Almost half of the Fortune 500 are customers, so Snowflake has become a big name in the data storage space, and I think the company could use that to its advantage to grow rapidly over the next 20 years.

2. Confluent

Even if they send all of their data to Snowflake, many businesses also need to analyze data in real-time. For instance, if you're a bank moving data around, you would want to know about fraud immediately rather than the next morning, and Confluent helps in that process. It integrates data from multiple sources into one data stream where it utilizes some open-source software called Apache Kafka to analyze the data in real-time.

Apache Kafka is an incredibly valuable analysis system that 80% of the Fortune 100 use for some part of their business, but it is incredibly complex to scale and integrate into an entire business. Confluent acts as an expert source, integrating Kafka into an entire enterprise and handling the complex parts that in-house staff aren't able to manage. Considering the value of Kafka, Confluent has seen major adoption from large enterprises: 664 customers spend over $100,000 with Confluent, which helped revenue grow 67% year over year to $103 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2021 (ending Sept. 30).

Confluent is the leading managed Kafka platform today, and that is likely helped by the people running the company. The developers of Kafka are also the founders of Confluent, so nobody knows the ins and outs of Apache Kafka like Confluent's founders. This gives them an unparalleled advantage over other managed Kafka services. As a result of this intangible advantage, the company has a high valuation of 41 times sales -- very high, just like Snowflake. However, with an addressable market that is expected to nearly double to $91 billion by 2024, I think Confluent is worth the premium valuation.

3. Datadog

If a company wants to obtain all of this data and analyze it in real-time, it needs to monitor its software to ensure it is operational and performing well. Companies need to ensure that their infrastructure, applications, and other systems are working properly and securely, and Datadog is the leading platform to help businesses do so.

Datadog has dozens of software tools and integrations that make it the one-stop shop for everything a business may need to monitor and optimize its cloud presence, and this major product optionality has allowed the business to grow immensely. In the company's fiscal 2021 third-quarter earnings (ended Sept. 30), management reported that 31% of its customers are using four or more of its software products or services, which was up from 20% in the year-ago quarter. This shows Datadog's success in its land-and-expand marketing strategy, and with the addition of 10 new products and integrations at its latest user conference, this strategy could continue growing.

All three companies featured here are operating at a loss today, but that is because all three businesses are investing heavily to grow their businesses and eventually reap the benefits of the major growth in data and their respective industries over the next decade. Datadog, for instance, posted a $5.5 million loss in Q3. The loss is improving year over year as Datadog has become the far-and-away leader in the space, and this leadership and unrivaled product offering are the things that could allow this business to continue its rapid growth for years to come.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Got $5,000? 3 Stocks To Hold for the Next 20 Years
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nGot $5,000? 3 Stocks To Hold for the Next 20 Years\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-12 21:48 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The rate at which data is being produced in the world is staggering. With businesses receiving more data every day, it will result in more analysis, more queries, and more revenue in the future. The company already receives roughly 1.3 million queries each day, but with more data to analyze in the future, companies will likely end up paying more often. This can already be seen in Snowflake's net retention rate, which is 173%.At 86 times sales, this company is by no means cheap. Almost half of the Fortune 500 are customers, so Snowflake has become a big name in the data storage space, and I think the company could use that to its advantage to grow rapidly over the next 20 years.2. ConfluentEven if they send all of their data to Snowflake, many businesses also need to analyze data in real-time. For instance, if you're a bank moving data around, you would want to know about fraud immediately rather than the next morning, and Confluent helps in that process. It integrates data from multiple sources into one data stream where it utilizes some open-source software called Apache Kafka to analyze the data in real-time.Apache Kafka is an incredibly valuable analysis system that 80% of the Fortune 100 use for some part of their business, but it is incredibly complex to scale and integrate into an entire business. 30).Confluent is the leading managed Kafka platform today, and that is likely helped by the people running the company. However, with an addressable market that is expected to nearly double to $91 billion by 2024, I think Confluent is worth the premium valuation.3. DatadogIf a company wants to obtain all of this data and analyze it in real-time, it needs to monitor its software to ensure it is operational and performing well. Companies need to ensure that their infrastructure, applications, and other systems are working properly and securely, and Datadog is the leading platform to help businesses do so.Datadog has dozens of software tools and integrations that make it the one-stop shop for everything a business may need to monitor and optimize its cloud presence, and this major product optionality has allowed the business to grow immensely. The loss is improving year over year as Datadog has become the far-and-away leader in the space, and this leadership and unrivaled product offering are the things that could allow this business to continue its rapid growth for years to come.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":236,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9002654036,"gmtCreate":1642001187518,"gmtModify":1676533670688,"author":{"id":"4103344219810520","authorId":"4103344219810520","name":"choi1980","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4103344219810520","idStr":"4103344219810520"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thanks","listText":"Thanks","text":"Thanks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9002654036","repostId":"1178079511","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":378,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9004449179,"gmtCreate":1642675530348,"gmtModify":1676533734455,"author":{"id":"4103344219810520","authorId":"4103344219810520","name":"choi1980","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4103344219810520","idStr":"4103344219810520"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good to know ","listText":"Good to know ","text":"Good to know","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9004449179","repostId":"2204059124","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2204059124","pubTimestamp":1642638020,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2204059124?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-20 08:20","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Growth Stocks You Can Buy Right Now With Less Than $100","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2204059124","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"You don't need a lot of money to seek fantastic returns with this trio of stocks.","content":"

Last year was a good one for the S&P 500. The deal would see the cloud computing company acquired by Vista Equity Partners and an affiliate of Elliott Management for $104 per share. That's below the Friday closing price for Citrix of $105.55 a share, with the stock up over the past few months on reports of takeover talks. Its shares fell 3.4% in premarket trading.

BlackBerry (BB) – The communications software company's stock tumbled 6.1% in the premarket after it announced a deal to sell its non-core patent assets for $600 million. The patents primarily involve mobile devices, messaging and wireless networking, with patents essential to its current core business not involved in the deal. The buyer is Catapult IP innovations, a special purpose vehicle formed specifically to buy those patents.

Spotify Technology S.A. (SPOT) – Spotify shares rose 1.5% in premarket trading after the audio streaming service took steps to address the controversy surrounding its Joe Rogan podcast, which has been accused of spreading Covid-19 misinformation. A number of buyout firms, including Sycamore Partners, are said to be mulling bids for the unit. Walgreens fell 1% in premarket action.

Marathon (MPC) – Marathon Petroleum is down in premarket trading, following a Reuters report that the United Steelworkers Union rejected a contract offer from the energy producer. The offer would have given refinery and chemical plant workers a 4% pay increase over three years, according to people familiar with the matter.
