Started investing in 2020. Currently my portfolio still down by around 10% since then. But In 2023, i earn back around 10% of what i lost which is my strategy is to buy big comapny like google, apple, Microsoft etc. Instead of those small comapny that i bought when i first start to invest. Which i am currently still holding on to stock like NIO,PLTR. These stock down more than 60% already when i frist bought. I am holding it for around 2 years now, hopefully it will rise back again soon. I also bought realty income to collect some dividend monthly. Hope then banking and property will not crash .

bank expected to raise interest rates another 75 basis points.</p><p>On the earnings side, some of the most S&amp;P 500’s most heavily-weighted components — including Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOGL), Meta Platforms (FB), Apple (AAPL), and Amazon (AMZN) — are among more than 170 companies scheduled to report second-quarter results through Friday.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4ada7b243e14854832b5370b492cab57\" tg-width=\"2044\" tg-height=\"1448\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/></p><p>Also on spotlight will be Thursday&#39;s advance estimate of second quarter GDP, as market participants continue to debate whether a recession is already underway. On Tuesday, 98% of stocks in the benchmark S&amp;P 500 advanced, the most since December 26, 2018, the first trading day after the market bottom that occurred on December 24, 2018, according to data from LPL Financial.</p><p>Recent gains have pushed up the index by roughly 6% since June 16, stoking optimism among some investors that the worst of the recent market downturn is over.</p><p>“While breadth has been rather unimpressive during the market’s rally since the June lows, days like Tuesday are exactly what we are looking for, and can go a long way towards changing the character of this market,” LPL strategist Scott Brown said in a note. “To be clear, the S&amp;P 500 is not out of the woods yet.”</p><p>Tuesday pushed the index to a close above the 50-day moving average for the first time since April 20, but it remained just short of the late-June intraday highs, Brown pointed out.</p><p>If the Federal Reserve proceeds with hiking rates three quarters of a percentage point later this week, the Federal funds rate will have moved from near 0% less than five months ago to a range of 2.25%-2.5% — a level in line with most officials’ estimates of the long-run neutral.</p><p>“The Fed has told us they’re unlikely to let up on the brakes until they see a convincing shift in the trajectory of monthly inflation readings that would signal progress towards the Fed’s 2% target,” PGIM Fixed Income lead economist Ellen Gaske said in emailed comments. “We expect Powell will likely reiterate that message at his post-meeting press conference.”</p><p>Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is set to deliver remarks at 2:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, shortly after the U.S. central bank’s policy decision comes out at 2:00 p.m. ET.</p><p>“We suspect it’s likely too soon for the Fed to convey a much more forward-looking point of view, as the most recent inflation readings still showed high and widespread price pressures,” Gaske said. “But with each additional hike from here, the lagged effects of the Fed’s tightening measures will be increasingly important to consider.”</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/59626e18211886e9fe5f70ddf13a84e5\" tg-width=\"960\" tg-height=\"640\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 23: Jerome Powell, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System testifies before the House Committee on Financial Services June 23, 2022 in Washington, DC. The Bureau of Labor Statistics&#39; Consumer Price Index (CPI) reflected a year-over-year increase of 9.1% in June’s reading, marking the highest print of the inflation cycle.</p><p>Economists at Goldman Sachs said in a note last week that inflation expectations have notably softened since the FOMC last met in June, referencing downward revisions to the University of Michigan’s final read on 5-10 year inflation expectations, a decline in the survey’s preliminary July figure, and a “material” downtrend in market-based measures of inflation.</p><p>“This softening of inflation expectations is one reason why we expect the FOMC will not accelerate the near-term hiking pace and will deliver a 75bp hike at the July FOMC meeting,” Goldman economists led by Jan Hatzius said.</p><p>In addition to the Fed and earnings, investors will closely watch the government’s first estimate of gross domestic product – the broadest measure of economic activity — for the second quarter, set for release Thursday morning.</p><p>The Atlanta Federal Reserve’s latest GDPNow estimate for Q2 GDP on July 19, showed the economy likely shrank 1.6% last quarter. If realized, this decline would mark the second-consecutive quarter of negative economic growth and affirm to some strategists that the economy has entered a recession.</p><p>According to data from Bloomberg, Wall Street economists expect GDP grew at an annualized pace of 0.5% last quarter.</p><p>On the earnings front, results from the mega-caps will be closely watched, though hundreds of other names will draw investor attention during one of the busiest weeks for corporate results of the year. In addition to performance for the most recent three-month periods, remarks from tech heavyweights on hiring plans or other adjustments to their outlooks related to macroeconomic headwinds will be closely tracked.</p><p>In recent weeks, Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Meta have all said they would scale back on hiring across certain areas.</p><p>According to FactSet Research, 21% of companies in the S&amp;P 500 have reported second-quarter earnings through Friday, with only 68% presenting actual earnings per share above estimates — below the five-year average of 77%. The fund achieves the -3x daily return target by entering into total return swaps with large banks that are reset nightly.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fff5d9cf3e686a0cfbbc881e341b99f1\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"282\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/></p><p>Figure 1 - SQQQ holdings (proshares.com)</p><p><b>Levered ETFs Only Work On Short Time Horizons</b></p><p>Investors who are interested in the SQQQ are highly encouraged to read this disclaimer from the Proshares website:</p><blockquote><i>Due to thecompoundingof daily returns, holding periods of greater than one day can result in returns that are significantly different than the target return, and ProShares&#39; returns over periods other than one day will likely differ in amount and possibly direction from the target return for the same period. These effects may be more pronounced in funds with larger or inverse multiples and in funds with volatile benchmarks.</i></blockquote><p>What this means in layman terms is that the SQQQ is only designed to provide 3x inverse returns for one day. For any holding period longer than 1 day, the returns expectations will differ.</p><p>For example, imagine you start off with $100 invested in SQQQ. If the Nasdaq-100 index returns -5% on day 1, your position will grow to $115 (3 times the 1-day return of 5%). If the Nasdaq-100 returns -5% again on day 2, your position will grow to $132.25. The 2 day total is more than 3 times the 2-day compounded return of 10.25% or $130.75, because the two moves are in the same direction.</p><p>Conversely, if the returns were consecutive +5% on the Nasdaq-100 index, you would end up with $85 on day 1 and $72.25 on day 2, versus a 2-day compounded loss of 9.75%, or a $70.75 final balance assuming 3 times the returns.</p><p>Levered ETFs provide holders with &#34;<b><i>positive convexity&#34;</i></b>in the direction of their bet, i.e., with the SQQQ, as the Nasdaq-100 declines, the short exposure grows, and vice versa.</p><p><b>Levered ETFs Decay In Volatile Markets</b></p><p>The biggest problem with levered ETFs is that the daily rebalancing of the fund&#39;s exposure means that in volatile markets, the fund can lose value very quickly.</p><p>Going back to our example above, if the Nasdaq-100 returned +5% on day 1 followed by -5% on day 2, that should translate to a compounded 2-day loss of 0.25%, or theoretical ending balance of $99.25. However, what happens is that on day 1, the SQQQ balance will fall to $85 (3 times the 1-day return of -5%), and on day 2, the SQQQ balance will only grow to $97.75 (3 times the 1-day return of 5%). $1.50 in &#34;value&#34; will have been lost to volatility. The higher the volatility, the more the &#34;decay.&#34;</p><p><b>Inverse ETFs Lose Value Over The Long-Term</b></p><p>Volatility coupled with the fact that markets are upwards trending in the long run means that inverse ETFs like the SQQQ are almost guaranteed to lose money over the long-term.</p><p>Comparing the performance of SQQQ vs. the Invesco QQQ ETF (QQQ) that tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index, we see that over any reasonably long time horizon, the SQQQ has been a money loser. Over 5 years, the SQQQ has lost $98.3 per $100 invested capital, and over 10 years, it has lost an incredible $99.93 per $100 invested capital.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/799c3972388654e161203372280ae578\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"398\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/></p><p>Figure 2 - SQQQ vs. QQQ performance (Seeking Alpha)</p><p>Even YTD, while the QQQ has lost 24.75% of its value, the SQQQ has only gained 52.6%, far less than the theoretical 74.25% gain, because of the volatility decay mentioned above. On a 1 year basis, while the QQQ has lost 21.3%, SQQQ has only gained 24.3%.</p><p><b>Conclusion</b></p><p>If investors are truly concerned about their portfolios, they should consider reducing their long exposures instead of seeking inverse ETFs as a hedge, especially for holding periods of longer than a few days due to the volatility &#34;decay&#34; from daily rebalancing.
